#marchmeetthemaker day 29: the best part There were lots of things I could have put for this prompt…the thrill of getting new products in the mail and unboxing them, the joy of seeing a sale notification, working on new designs, or seeing a Kickstarter reach its goal. Those are all great things and I love them all, but I think the best part of running this little business is times like when this photo was taken last summer- out in the fresh air getting to interact with all of you. Sometimes that’s in the form of education after getting asked “what’s this symbol mean?” Other times its chatting about favorite series or characters, and sometimes it’s just a quick “Hello” or remark about the weather when passing by. Each and every one of those means so much to me and I enjoy having the opportunity to experience them everyday. ⭐Glow up - transformation for the better 😍 Tbh I feel my art & I are constantly evolving & growing BUT there was a big shift for me when the pandemic first hit. With all my work put on hold there was space to create freely, without limits & totally be myself in my art. This resulted in creations that led on to multiple opportunities! 🙌 💕It sounds cliche to talk about being brave, following your heart & being yourself but that's largely what made this transformation / glow up happen & be so successful. 💕 For a while I had dulled myself down creatively to not be 'too different' & to fit more neatly into existing boxes. Coming back to creative freedom & totally embracing my authentic self in my art was / is so liberating, exciting & benefits my work a lot. 🙌 😍Here are photos of me last year at the 'Euro Celtic Art' exhibition in Lorient, France. I was asked to represent the Isle of Man which was a huge honour and involved solo exhibitions from each of Celtic nation artists which formed the overall exhibition. #marchmeetthemaker day 28: adapt Fun fact, originally my degree was going to be in STEM, that obviously didn’t happen. Chemistry got in the way and so I had to adapt, and now I get to read lots of books, ramble about the romans and other interesting civilizations, and make art for a living. #marchmeetthemaker! Day 28-Adapt There are two main ways I adapt in my business recently. The first is with planning. Having this system for the last year or so has helped. I like to have arrived schemed and to get things done in the order I want but I have learnt I can’t always do that. And using this system helps me plan but also way adapt throughout the week. So that’s pictures of my todo list. The second is adapting my goals and expectations for my business and where it is going and being able to go with it a little and adapt my plan as I go. Day 15 of #Marchmeetthemaker is 'From idea to Product'. A lot of my pieces are either experiments from watching other wire wrap artists on YouTube or from me twisting the wire around to see what shapes I can get. This style bracelet (pictured) took the most planning of my most recent items as I needed to learn how to create the herringbone wrap on both sides of the beads and to work out how many links would be needed for different wrist sizes. I do have some sketches of some newer ideas I am working on but I wanted to keep them hidden while I finalise.
