Super specific austrian/german slang words/phrases for my König Headcanons

By an austrian for an austrian character

I feel like this is more for people who already know german, but I did my best to translate or explain the words anyway.

Dodl/Wappler/Kipferl/Lappen (all of them mean "idiot" and imply some sort of clumsiness. The first two don't really have a literal translation, but the third and the fourth translate to "(small) croissant" and "(wash/cleaning)cloth" respectively)

Sacklpicker (slang for "inmate", but most commonly referring to someone disrupting your plans. Could be used interchangeably with "asshole". It isn't really as strong as a word as asshole, like you could say it around children without getting reprimanded)

Teifl! (Lit. "Devil"; interjection meaning "damn it!")

Zefix! (Also meaning "Damn it!", comes from the word Kruzifix/crucifix)

Heilige Maria (und Josef)! (Lit. "Holy Mary (and Joseph)!"; interjection; pretty much just the austrian version of saying "Jesus!" or "Jesus Christ!" when surprised)

Gemma! ("Let's go!"; dialect for "gehen wir")

Gemmas an! ("Let's get (this) started!"; dialect for "gehen wir es an")

Bua/Bursch ("boy" or "young man")

Haberer/Hawerer ("man" or "guy"; very casual)

Mander/Manderleit ("men"; most commonly used when directly speaking to a group of men; example "Gemmas an, Mander!" "Let's get started, guys!")

Madl/Mädl/Gitsche/Menschin/Dirndl/Mötz/Dirn (all of them mean "girl" or "young woman"; not interchangeable with each other bc each word heavily implies dialects from certain regions in Austria "Madl/Mädl" being the most neutral)

Weibische ("woman", casual; depending on region either just a neutral way to say woman or kinda derogatory)

Watschn/Watsche ("slap")

Sich eine fangen ("(to) catch these hands")

Zipf mi nit an!/Geh mir nit aufn Geist! ("Don't annoy me!")

Halt die Goschn!/Halt's Maul! ("Shut up!"; lit. "Hold your mouth!")

Schiach ("ugly" or generally not good; something can taste, look or feel "schiach")

Fesch ("gorgeous"; referring to people, their attributes or their clothing; example: "Heut schaust fesch aus!" "You're looking good today!")

Heisl/Häusl ("outhouse" or "toilet")

Chefität(en) ("Chef" in german means "boss"; "Chefität" is someone superior to your job position and "Chefitäten" is just the plural; if someone were to complain about a stupid rule some superior implemented they'd say something like "Na, da habn sich die Chefitäten mal wieder was eingebildet!" "Well, the superiors thought they did something there")

Gendarm/Gendarmerie/Kiberer/Kiwara ("policeman" or "police"; the first two are kind of old words and almost only used by people that are like 35+ y/o or children playing "Räuber und Gendarm"/"cops and robbers")

Wallischer (This one's kinda very specific to the region I'm from and means "Italian")

Sesselreiten (Lit. "riding a chair"; balancing on the two back legs of a chair)

Schau zu, dass Land gewinnst! (Lit. "See, that you win land!"; meaning "Scram!")

Notgroschen ("emergency fund"; "Not" meaning "emergency" and "Groschen" being the old Austrian currency)

Mahlzeit! (Lit. "meal time"; kinda like "Bon Appétit"; something we say at lunchtime, when we are eating or when we see someone eating; sometimes we also use it when we something really gross, implying it's so gross we lost our appetite)

T...Tombswap? Tombsonas but a little to the left?

Some notes:

Tried to come up with names that matched the connection of their original but with the new affinity e.g. Tesla -> Mozart, another famous person of that subject. Armstrong, Houston, etc.

Riot: If Rust represents the deterioration of iron authority, Riot represents the cracks that appear in any supposedly invincible regime. They are angsty.

Spirit: Almost named them Ghost but that's too close to Geist. Would definitely use their lights to lure you into the woods to get hopelessly lost. Probably influenced the myth of the headless horseman.

Pop: If Doc is supposed to be a Baron Samedi witch doctor vibe, I needed a figure that was red and generally seen as benign. Originally was gonna be Santa, then I decided I liked Mary Poppins better.

Houston: More robotic than Armstrong. Carries a battery pack to keep itself charged.

Mozart: Just a little guy. Other tombsonas must protec.

Cincinnati Women Who Smoked Endured Disdain, Harassment And Even Divorce

Back in the 1970s, with the tagline “You’ve come a long way, baby,” the Virginia Slims cigarette brand published a series of humorous advertisements linking a woman’s right to smoke with women’s liberation in general. A typical ad portrayed a sepia-toned damsel sneaking a smoke in the basement, with the caption:

“In 1915, Mrs. Cynthia Robinson was caught smoking in the cellar behind the preserves. Although she was 34, her husband sent her straight to her room.”

Boffo yucks, no? But did those advertisements really reflect reality? In Cincinnati, at least, that was very much the way things were. Queen City women who smoked faced all sorts of harassment. Lighting up a cigarette was not only grounds for divorce, but evidence that a woman hankered for the louche life of a prostitute.

The Cincinnati Enquirer [13 November 1900] related the sad tale of Arthur Graham and his newlywed wife, Viola:

“Arthur Graham, a young shoemaker who is employed in a big factory on West Fourth street, between Main and Sycamore streets, believed that he was the happiest fellow on earth, and that his wife was the soul of honor, until she began to spend his wages for cigarettes. That set him to thinking, and he was not at all surprised when she left him. He heard that she had entered a house on Longworth street, and yesterday afternoon he called Patrol 1 and had her removed from the place to Central Station, where the mismatched couple told their troubles to Lieutenant Geist. She was released on her promise to return home.”

It appears that the Grahams patched things up despite her sojourn on Longworth Street. Although that infamous avenue was the very heart of Cincinnati’s red-light district, it might be uncharitable to imagine Viola engaging in naughty behavior. Maybe she sought employment in a brothel as a maid or a cook. Maybe. In any event, the couple remained together until Arthur died in 1966. Perhaps they learned to share an ash tray.

Not so George Osgood of 256 Butler Street. He was granted a divorce in 1902 from Mary “Millie” Osgood. George told the judge that Millie started on a “faithless career” by smoking cigarettes and had even adopted an alias as “Kate Keller,” a typical practice by prostitutes at the time.

In 1914, truck driver William Middaugh of West Fourth Street filed for divorce from his wife, Cassie, because she smoked cigarettes in front of company. Apparently, sneaking a smoke behind the preserves was okay by him.

The situation was somewhat more complicated when Charles W. Mangan’s wife filed for divorce in 1917. Mangan, employed by the Central Railway and Hotel Distributing Company on Reading Road, responded that Nettie Mangan not only smoked, but drank and threw furniture at him.

Similarly, John H. Gardner of 1036 Findlay Street had more than tobacco on his mind when he filed for divorce in 1922. His wife, Nellie, he alleged, not only smoked cigarettes, but spent his money at the racetrack and absconded to Phoenix with another man.

When she lit up a smoke on their 1925 honeymoon, Mabel Collinsworth Kopp “shattered the ideals” of her groom, Melville Kopp. Asserting that she also read “questionable” magazines, Melville, who made his living playing the organ at movie theaters, filed for divorce. Mabel responded that Melville had only married her to escape the affections of another young lady and that Melville’s parents never liked her. Melville told the court that his mother objected to Mabel’s smoking.

As early as 1885, cigarette smoking raised serious questions about a woman’s morals. The Cincinnati Post [3 November 1885] interviewed a dealer in second-hand books at his stall on Fifth Street near Mound. That neighborhood included several elementary schools and the reporter, noticing that the book monger offered several brands of cigarettes for sale, assumed that his customers were school children. Not so. It was women who bought the smokes. The dealer told the Post:

“I believe there are more women than men who smoke in this part of town – and drink – if you could see as much of it as I do. I believe there are five women to one man in this locality who drink.”

This led the Post reporter, it appears, to reconsider his entire opinion of the fairer sex.

“The old gentleman placed the smoking and drinking by women in juxtaposition and the Post realized that the woman who stimulates with a cigarette will soon not object to a fluid stimulant.”

That is just the opinion, nearly 35 years later, expressed by Rabbi David Philipson of Rockdale Temple, who in a 1919 sermon, excoriated “slaves to fashion” who smoke, drink, “emulate chorus girls” and regard as old fogies those decent folks who try to abide by “laws of decency and reverence.

The rabbi was strongly seconded by famed evangelist William Ashley "Billy" Sunday, who blew into Cincinnati on a 1921 crusade. After blasting a veritable menagerie of modern wickedness, Sunday zeroed in on one particular target: the “damphool woman” who smokes cigarettes. “She’s skating on thin ice,” he thundered as his audience at the First Presbyterian Church shouted “Amen.”

Having none of this was Allene Sumner, author of the “Woman’s Day” column in the Cincinnati Post. When the National Fire Protection Association proclaimed that incendiary hazards had increased astronomically since women took up smoking, Ms. Sumner was roused [9 June 1927] to feminist ardor:

“They say sarcastic things about ‘the natural refinement of women rapidly succumbing to this habit.’ Wonder just how many generations it will be before human minds will function sufficiently rationally to have shed tradition and prejudice and do enough straight thinking to see that there is little or no connection between ‘a woman’s refinement’ and whether she smokes or not, any more than whether or not she can be refined and eat chocolates or drink coffee?”

Hi! This is where I have info on what I write, who I write, and what I am comfortable writing/what you can request! If you have any questions feel free to ask me!

These will of course include age regression or pet regression in some way, wether you the reader are a regressor, or a character is.

I will write for the fandoms/characters I have listed below. If you want a different character and don’t see them down there, you may ask if I will write for them but I won’t make any promises.

What Maverick is comfortable writing…

This is a 100% SFW blog, so no NSFW writing at all. I’m not comfortable doing that for age/pet regression.

I am perfectly fine writing relationships like dating or being married, with hand holding, cuddling, kissing, etc etc. But I will not do smut, kinks, or heated make outs.

Basically just cute fluff is what I’ll do!

Laird Hasenbär in Schottland - Tag 17

Lairds and Ladies!

Heute machen wir keine Tour in die Umgebung, sondern bleiben in Inverness.

Inverness ist die Hauptstadt der Highlands: Im Jahr 2000 wurde Inverness zur „City“ erklärt, also zur Großstadt. Kein Wunder, denn mittlerweile arbeiten und leben hier rund 60.000 Schotten – für die Highlands eine enorme Zahl.

Der Name Inverness kommt vom gälischen „Inbhir Nis“ und heißt zu deutsch: Die Mündung des Ness. Der Fluss fließt aus dem berühmten Loch Ness, das sich ein Stück weiter süd-westlich im Great Glen befindet.

Die Geschichte von Inverness ist natürlich blutig – was auch sonst? Inverness war auch immer ein wichtiger strategischer Punkt im Kampf um Schottland. Wer die Stadt und die Brücke kontrollierte, hatte die Macht über die Highlands.

1411 etwa wurde Inverness von den Lords of the Isles eingenommen und 1746 sah Inverness das blutige Ende des Jakobiten-Aufstands. Das berühmte Culloden-Schlachtfeld liegt nur einen “Steinwurf” weit entfernt. Danach nutzen die Engländer Inverness, um von hier aus die Highlands zu kontrollieren und keine weiteren Erhebungen der Clans mehr zuzulassen.

Inverness selbst hat zwar eine lange Geschichte, versprüht aber nur wenig von dem Mittelaltercharme, den zum Beispiel Edinburgh besitzt. Es wechseln sich alte Kirchen und Häuser mit hässlichen Betonklötzen ab. Viele alte Gebäude wurden nämlich um 1960 im Sinne de „Modernisierung“ abgerissen – leider nicht zum Vorteil des Stadtbildes.

Direkt über dem River Ness thront ein Wahrzeichen: das Inverness Castle – eigentlich ein Gerichtsgebäude, das auch heute noch für die Rechtsprechung genutzt wird.

Wir bemühen uns sehr ein halbwegs gescheite Bilder davon zu machen, denn ein hässlicher Bauzaun versperrt von allen Seiten den Blick drauf.

Das rote Sandsteingebäude auf einem Hügel, ist ein ziemlich neuer Bau, der erst Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts erbaut wurde. Es ist jedoch nur die jüngste der vielen Burgen, die alle auf derselben Anhöhe standen.

Das erste Schloss von Inverness wurde Mitte des 11. Jahrhunderts erbaut und soll die Heimat von König Macbeth gewesen sein. Dies wurde in der Regierungszeit von König David I. (1124-1153) durch ein Steingebäude ersetzt und Anfang des 14. Jahrhunderts von Robert the Bruce weitgehend zerstört. Diese wiederum wurde hundert Jahre später wieder aufgebaut.

Die Burg wurde 1562 während des Bürgerkriegs um Mary Queen of Scots belagert. Der Gouverneur, Alexander Gordon, verweigerte der Queen auf Befehl seines Clanchefs den Zutritt. Sie fand Unterkunft in einem Haus in Inverness, bis die Burg an rivalisierende Clans fiel. Alexander Gordon wurde wegen seines Verrats gehängt.

Nach der letzten Schlacht auf britischem Boden bei Culloden im Jahr 1746 wurde die Burg von den Streitkräften der besiegten Armee von Bonnie Prince Charlie gesprengt.

Bemerkenswert ist vor allem die Statue vor dem Eingang des Gebäudes. Eine Dame hält Ausschau in Richtung Süden. Dabei handelt es sich um die “Fluchthelferin” Flora MacDonald, der hier eine Denkmal gesetzt wurde.

Shakespeares Macbeth soll Duncan im ersten Inverness Castle ermordet haben. Wahr oder nicht, der Geist von König Duncan soll am Flussufer unterhalb des Burghügels zu sehen sein.

Und diese Geschichte muss wahr sein, denn wir wurden von zwei Herren angesprochen, die wissen wollten, ob wir aus Deutschland kämen. Es stellte sich heraus die Beiden sind Schwiegersohn (aus Dülmen) und Schwiegervater (aus Schottland).

Wir unterhielten uns eine Weile sehr nett und der Schwiegervater hatte jede Menge “Geistergeschichten” auf Lager, die alle zu 100 % wahr sind - denn seine Mutter hat vor 70 Jahren diese eine unheimliche Sichtung gehabt und der Nachbar, der leider auch schon verstorben ist, hatte damals einen Körper einer Kreatur gesehen ... usw. usw.

Der River Ness teilt die Stadt in zwei Hälften. Um ihn herum gruppieren sich zuerst schöne Häuserzeilen teils mit Gärten, die im Süden aber bald von Parkflächen abgelöst werden. Rund eineinhalb Kilometer südlich vom Stadtkern gibt es sogar kleine Inseln im Fluss, die sich prima zum Spazieren gehen eignen.

Möchte man die alten Häuserzeilen und den besonderen Flair des Flusses genießen, lohnt sich ein Spaziergang auf dem Ness Island Walk. Man startet an dem Inverness Castle, hier endet (oder beginnt) übrigens auch der Great Glen Wanderweg.

Man geht den Weg hinunter an der Island Bank Road, vorbei am War Memorial und vielen kleinen Blumenbeeten, die hier liebevoll gepflegt werden. Man beachte die themenbezogenen Motive der Parkbänke!

Nach etwas über einem Kilometer erreicht man eine kleine Metall-Hängebrücke, die nur einige Meter zu einer kleinen Insel im Fluss führt. Hier beginnt der Spaziergang auf den Ness Islands, bei dem man die große Holz-Nessie und andere Nettigkeiten sehen kann.

Vor einiger Zeit gab es Berichte von Besuchern die die Vision einer Frau und den Geruch von Verwesung dort bemerkt haben wollen. Ein selbsternannter Geisterjäger soll von einem unsichtbaren Ellbogen in die Brust getroffen worden sein. Ob dabei zuviel Whisky im Spiel gewesen sein könnte, ist allerdings nicht überliefert.

Anschließend schauen wir uns noch einmal die Kessock Bridge an, denn bei unserer Anfahrt hatte es geregnet und es sind uns keine vernünftigen Bilder gelungen.

Man überquert den Beauly Firth auf der A 9 über die Kessock Bridge zur Black Isle.

So einfach war es jedoch nicht immer. Bis 1982 war eine Fahrt von über 20 Meilen erforderlich, um von Inverness nach North Kessock zu gelangen, das jetzt unmittelbar westlich des nördlichen Endes der Brücke liegt. Die einzige Alternative war die Kessock-Fähre, die als gelegentliche lokale Verbindung ausreichend war, aber nicht für ein wachsendes Verkehrsaufkommen ausgelegt war.

Die Fähre war die Rosehaugh, die auf dieser Route verwendet wurde, bis der Dienst mit der Eröffnung der Brücke geschlossen wurde. Die Rosehaugh zog dann nach Corran um und diente dort bis 2001 weiter als Fähre.

Die Brücke wurde für das Scottish Development Department (SDD) von dem deutschen Ingenieur Dr. Hellmut Homberg entworfen. 40 Prozent Material sparten seine Konstruktionen im Vergleich zu Entwürfen der Konkurrenz.

Hombergs Ingenieurbüro spezialisierte sich nach dem Krieg zunächst auf den Wiederaufbau von zerstörten Großbrücken – es gab schließlich genügend davon am Rhein – und machte sich mit seinen innovativen Lösungen schnell einen Namen in der Branche.

Homberg entwickelte neue Theorien zu sogenannten „Kreuzwerken“ und „Trägerrostberechnungen“, untersuchte Lösungen mit Spannbeton und beschäftigte sich mit Vielseilsystemen bei Schrägseil-Brücken.

Die im Krieg 1945 zerbombte A4-Autobahn-Brücke bei Köln ließ er von 1952 bis 1954 nicht nur an Ort und Stelle auf den alten Fundamenten wieder aufbauen, sein Sonderentwurf kam sogar mit 3000 Tonnen Stahl weniger aus als der Vorgänger.

Mit dieser Meisterleistung als Visitenkarte errang Homberg allein in den 60er Jahren sechs weitere Zuschläge für prestigeträchtige Großbrücken. Jene in Emmerich sowie Rees-Kalkar, die beiden weiteren Rhein-Querungen Leverkusen-Köln und Bonn-Nord, sowie die Moorfleet-Brücke in Hamburg und die preisgekrönte „Pont Masséna“ in Paris. Später folgten noch weitere in Vancouver, Bangkok, London und jener in Inverness.

Die Arbeiten an der Kessock Bridge begannen 1976 und 1982 konnte die Brücke eröffnet werden.

Die Brücke hat eine Gesamtlänge von 1056 Metern mit einer Hauptnavigationsspannweite von 240 Metern. Hoch genug über dem darunter liegenden Beauly Firth gebaut, damit Schiffe die Docks von Inverness erreichen können.

Es gibt sieben kleinere Spannweiten im Süden und fünf im Norden, die alle zwischen 60 und 80 Meter lang sind. Das Deck besteht aus Stahl und wird von vier Stahltürmen mit Gruppen von acht Stahlseilen getragen, die in einer doppelten „harfenförmigen“ Konfiguration angeordnet sind.

Die Stützpfeiler sind aus Beton. Zum Schutz vor seismischen und geologischen Bewegungen in der Great-Glen-Verwerfung enthielt die Brücke Puffer am nördlichen Widerlager in der Nähe der Verwerfungslinie. Jeder Puffer wiegt etwa 2,5 Tonnen.

Praktikabilität, Kosteneffizienz und strukturelle Solidität waren die primären Designanliegen. Extreme Wetterbedingungen sowie potenzielle seismische Bewegungen entlang der Great Glen Geological Fault wurden als Teil des Entwurfsprozesses berücksichtigt.

Der Bau der Kessock Brücke hatte zwei Haupteffekte. Eine bestand darin, einen Großteil der Black Isle in bequemer Pendler- und Einkaufsentfernung von Inverness erreichbar zu machen. Dies war einer der Faktoren, die in der Zwischenzeit zu dem bemerkenswerten Wachstum von Schottlands fünftgrößter Stadt geführt haben.

Die zweite bestand darin, die Entfernungen und Fahrzeiten zwischen Inverness (und dem Rest Schottlands) und dem hohen Norden erheblich zu verkürzen. Bis Ende der 1970er Jahre folgte jeder, der von Inverness nach Wick reiste, der A9, die große Umwege ins Landesinnere unternahm, um die westlichen Enden des Beauly Firth über Beauly zu umgehen.

Die Kessock-Brücke war die südlichste der „Three Firths“-Kreuzungen, die die Situation veränderten. Der Verkehr aus Inverness folgt nun der A9 über die Kessock Bridge, dann über die Black Isle, bevor er die Cromarty Firth Bridge überquert, und an Invergordon und Tain vorbei, bevor er die Dornoch Firth Bridge überquert, die 1991 fertiggestellt wurde.

Das Ergebnis war eine Verringerung der Entfernung zwischen Inverness und Wick von etwa 135 Meilen auf 104 Meilen und die Verkürzung der Reisezeiten war noch deutlicher.

Für den Nachmittag haben wir eine Reservierung im altehrwürdigen Kingsmill Hotel zum Royal Tea. Ein Royal Tea ist ein aufgepimpter Afternoon oder High Tea mit einem “bubbly” oder auch “sparkling” Getränk vorab.

Das Hotel liegt in schöner, fußl��ufiger Entfernung zu unserer Unterkunft.

Die Geschichte des historischen Hotel reicht bis ins 18. Jahrhundert (1785) zurück. Es beherbergte Philanthropen, Soldaten, die Zuflucht suchen, und sogar den großen Robert Burns selbst. Das Hotel bekam seinen Namen von einer Getreidemühle, die noch bis in die 1950er Jahre auf dem Gelände stand.

Ein Blick zurück in die zweite Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts zeigt: das Gebäude war das Zuhause von William Inglis, Bürgermeister von Inverness, und seiner Familie. Die Familie Inglis spielte folglich eine große Rolle beim Wachstum und der Entwicklung der Stadt selbst.

Durch eine Einheirat kam die Familie Inglis Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts in den Besitz des Kingsmills-Gebäudes. Die Familie war zwischen dem Leben in Schottland und dem Handel als Kaufleute in den Lowlands aufgeteilt. William, einer der Brüder, entschied sich dafür, in Inverness zu bleiben und das Gebäude zu seinem Zuhause zu machen.

William trat in die Fußstapfen seines Vaters und trat dem Stadtrat bei. Mit dem Schwerpunkt auf der Schaffung und Entwicklung neuer Straßen, die sich als wesentlich für das Wachstum von Händlern und städtischen Unternehmen erweisen würden.

In seine Zeit im Rat fällt auch den Bau des reich verzierten Kirchturms in der Bridge Street, sowie die Schaffung der Royal Northern Infirmary. William widmete sich wirklich den Bedürfnissen der Menschen und verbrachte viel Zeit damit, Programme und Hilfen für die ärmeren Klassen zu entwickeln und Handelsdienstleistungen durch Seereisen zu erweitern.

Unnötig zu erwähnen, dass Williams Ruf ihm vorauseilte. Und am 4. September 1787 kam Robert Burns, Schottlands berühmtester Dichter, zusammen mit seinem Kollegen William Dunbar zum Abendessen in das Kingsmills-Gebäude.

Am ungewöhnlichsten ist, dass es keine Erinnerung an lokale Presseartikel über die Ankunft der Berühmtheit gibt. Es gibt jedoch Hinweise auf eine Korrespondenz zwischen Burns und Inglis, in der Burns Komplimente für die angebotene Gastfreundschaft zum Ausdruck gebracht werden.

Als Philanthrop durch und durch arbeitete Inglis weiter für die Menschen, bis er 1800 in den Ruhestand ging. Leider war ihm sein Ruhestand nur sehr kurz vergönnt, da er vier Monate später im Alter von 54 Jahren plötzlich verstarb.

Zahlreiche Erinnerungen an seine verehrten Präsenz sind bis heute erhalten geblieben, darunter die heutige Fußgängerzone “Inglis Street”, die ihm zu Ehren 1792 eingeweiht wurde.

Dann, im Jahr 1946, baute die Familie MacLeod das Gebäude in ein kleines unabhängiges Hotel um. Inzwischen gab es natürlich etliche Erweiterungen und Anbauten.

Auch dieser Afternoon Tea verlief - sagen wir nicht - ganz so zufrieden stellend. Die Schotten mögen Whisky brennen können, aber Afternoon Tea ist nicht ihre Stärke - oder es liegt daran, dass das Zelebrieren solch britischer Gepflogenheiten in den ehemaligen Kolonien schlichtweg ernster genommen wird.

Es war zwar besser als im Flodigarry Hotel, auf der Isle of Skye, aber in unsere Top Ten kommt das hier Dargebotene ebenfalls nicht.

Immerhin waren dieses Mal Servietten mit eingedeckt und es wurde zusätzlich eine Karaffe gekühltes Wasser gebracht. Darüber, dass die Bedienung nach dem Platzieren der Gäste das “Reserviert Schild” nicht wegnimmt, will ich gerne hinweg sehen.

Aber auch hier offerierte man nur Coffee or Tea. Auf meine Nachfrage nach der vorhandenen Teeauswahl, rauschte die Dame offensichtlich pikiert ab und es gab wieder nur eine Kanne mit einem darin herum schwimmenden Pad.

Die Sandwiches und die anderen Dinge waren zwar nicht ganz so betagt, wenn auch ebenfalls nicht taufrisch. Und es darf nicht sein, dass die Salatdeko braune Stellen aufweist. Das geht gar nicht! Wir sind doch hier nicht an einer Autobahnraststätte.

Vielleicht sollte ich mein Glück doch lieber im Savoy in London versuchen. Eventuell kriegen die es hin einen vernünftigen Afternoon oder High Tea zu zelebrieren, so wie das Mount Nelson in Kapstadt oder das Victoria Falls Hotel oder das Peninsula in Hong Kong.

Rudolf, Crown Prince of Austria (21 August 1858 – 30 January 1889), was the only son and third child of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Elisabeth of Bavaria ("Sisi"). He was heir apparent to the Imperial throne of the Austro-Hungarian Empire from birth. In 1889, he died in a suicide pact with his mistress, Mary Freiin von Vetsera, at the Mayerling hunting lodge. (wiki) He was very sensitiv and suffered from depression his whole life.

Den ukrainischen Soldaten ruft sie aus sicherer Ferne im Geiste von Theodor Heuss zu: „Dann siegt mal schön!“ Widerworte eingebetteter Moderatoren und Talkgäste braucht sie dabei kaum zu befürchten. Für die Waffenindustrie, mit der sie eng verbandelt ist, ist die eiserne Lady ein Glücksfall. Dabei braucht es gar nicht viel Recherche, um Strack-Zimmermann als Rüstungslobbyistin auszuweisen. Für diese Treue zu den „Lords of War“ sollen jetzt aber nicht nur die Menschen im Osten, sondern schon bald auch wir Deutschen unser Leben riskieren. Uwe Froschauers Spezialität sind „starke Frauen“ mit eher schwachsinnigen politischen Ansichten. Welcome to the Dead Guy Death Match Elimination Round!

Due to the broad nature of death as a concept, most of the submitted characters only received a few votes each causing a massive tie. I figured the fairest way to sort out this issue would be to hold an elimination round to let you guys vote on who you want to make it into the bracket.

There will be two elimination rounds the first of which will start on Monday the 3rd of April at 3pm BST and the second will start on Saturday the 8th of April at 3pm BST.

Elimination Round 1 will feature polls of 5 or 6 unrelated characters (all of the matchups were generated randomly) for you to vote on. The lowest voted character will be eliminated and all of the remaining options will progress to the bracket.

Elimination Round 2 will feature polls of differing numbers of characters from the same or similar media and only the highest ranked character among them will progress to the bracket, all of the others will be eliminated.

Both sets of polls will last 24 hours.

I've tried my best to only include official images for all of the characters on the polls but I'm not familiar with every series listed so, when the polls go up, if you notice I've used a fanart or cosplay image without permission or credit please let me know and I'll add credit and correct it for any future appearances of that character.
