Have you been to Cleveland Street?
DATE: 27th of May, Late Afternoon
PLACE: Weston Household, Belgravia, London
STATUS: Closed @scandalous-heart
So, Thursday had been cancelled. No matter, it was no skin off his back, and Benny had ended up with another friend after all, and a business plan to boot. So they had rescheduled; Monday, they said, the sixteenth. Only, well, there was the matter of a hangover (or two) which rather spoiled their plans, so they had rescheduled again. And again. And even again, until, finally, finally, calendars aligned, angels sang, and it was Friday the twenty-seventh of May, Benny was being led through the Weston’s Belgravia Home by their butler, and he was going to have the afternoon and evening with Lord Abbernath Weston, as was meant to happen weeks ago.
“Abby,” Beny grinned as soon as he breached the threshold to the drawing room. The Weston’s butler seemed unphased by the friendly address. Apart from their short little missives to one another explaining cancellations and arranging something new, Benny had only seen Lord Abbernath in the flesh once since their first meeting; at Queen Charlotte’s Birthday Ball, in which they had waved at once another and Benny had even received a wink. He felt oddly relieved to be with him in person, now, as if it was proof that the warm camaraderie which had formed between them so quickly was not only one-sided.
“It’s so good to see you,” Benny continued, heading towards the man. “You looked awfully busy at the ball. How many women did you dance with again? Ten, twenty?” He had certainly been spinning around as many of the beauties as it seemed he could, something Benny had been able to watch from his vantage point at the edge of the dancefloor, and never upon it.
