Time to get inked for the new year! I've been experimenting with brush settings to get away from the default brushes I've used for years now, and try to introduce a bit of the grit inherent to real ink on paper.

As I mentioned in the sketch version of this pic, I started yet another AU... It's a totally ordinary early 2000s setting, but with SPACE RAPTORS! It doesn't follow any particular logic, I just just felt like it would be a fun way to express Chasse' personality in a vastly different setting than usual, and draw some fun clothes that wouldn't fit in any other continuity too.

If you’ve already answered this then no worries, but what would the typical clan cat lifespan be then (assuming they don’t die prematurely from injury/illness). Just curious as to how many generations have passed since the clan’s founding in the 80 or so years.

Clan cat lifespans can be pretty variable! They're considered senior warriors at 5, but if all works out their lifespan is often 16 years. Kittens usually enter the picture for a parent who is 2 to 8 years old, but they COULD have them anywhere between 1 to 15.

Clan cats play less attention to raw age than to EXPERIENCE, though. It is socially discouraged for a fresh warrior to become a parent, and you are NOT an adult until you're out of apprenticeship. They see age like this;

Child: Less than 6 full moons SEEN. If a kitten's eyes were not opened when the first moon of their life passed over them, that is not a month they were alive.

Adolescent: The amount of time you are an apprentice. Flamepaw was considered a child while his sister was an adult.

Young Adult: The first full year out of apprenticeship, when you've handled a full year on your own. A warrior is only eligible for an apprentice after this length of time, so by extension a cat COULD be a mentor around age 2 (BUT that's considered young. 3 is a better bet.)

Adulthood is even more variable, because you're usually not considered "aged" until you've had an apprentice or a litter and you're around 5 years old. Without either of those things, you often won't be considered a "senior warrior" until you're as old as 8.

So to answer your question directly, you can comfortably estimate a new crop of warriors about every 5 years, and full population turnover every 15. Between the numbers, 8 is a good estimation of how long it takes for a generation to pass

(Though I'm more partial to historic events and time periods than crunching numbers like that)

Elders can hang on for a LOOONG time though-- One-eye over in ThunderClan was a personal friend of Pinestar and witnessed the Crusades before passing away at the tender age of 20-something.

For the most part, no.

I am sadly not very familiar with Ovenbreak lore. I barely play it tbh.

But since Millenial Tree and Whipped Cream seem to be somehow connected (based on their relationship charts), I can kinda imagine Millennial Tree being a sort of guardian/parent/etc. to Whipped Cream.

This update is helping me develop my lore for how the flow of life works in the snow queen domain and honestly I’m excited

It’s kind of settled for me I want frost queen and fire spirits areas to be sort of parallels

Both of them have that sort of thing of, cookies die and their life essence goes into the land to make elemental creatures. Though what happens after that differs

For the dragons valley, it’s a self fulfilling cycle. When a cookie dies in the valley their life essence gets added to the valleys reserves, and these sprites can merge to become bigger and more powerful beings, sometimes even dragons, who can leave the valley and die elsewhere. And maybe that spreads life essence around like some bumble bee thing idk I still am trying to get a grip on how the flow of life works in the kingdom universe, but that works for my au atm.

Meanwhile in the frost queen area (idk what the snowy area is called) what matters is if w cookie is born there, cookies born in this area have a chance of getting that frost sickness, and as we’ve seen with sherbet they die and their life essence goes into creating frost spirits and snow creatures. Though things are a bit looser here, In some cases the cookie can become an elemental and not loose their memories, in some cases a cookie outside of this domain can be given a second chance by the snow. And when frost creatures die their life essence goes back into the cookies born here, and it’s more of a give and take. In some rare cases cookies have survived the illness but gotten ice magic because of it, but that’s uncommon at best. Point is the snow is mailable, and frost queens job is to make sure that things stay balanced, she can grant wiggle room if there is any, and if things get off balance she can use the flow of life to readjust the scale. But it’s an issue when thr flow itself is being stolen and that’s why dark enchantress is a problem.

I’m not totaly against the idea that the elemental rebirth thing only happens in the snow place, but it’d make it stand out that only the frost area does the reborn thing.

Other elemental areas have their own versions but are uncommon to rare (ie fire spirits ascension, wind archers creation, that sort of thing)

Plus icicle yeti is a healer! Idk what connections are being made but there sure are!!

Uh related thoughts on other elemental flow of life stuff.

Im going to wait till kingdom gives us wind archer or millennial tree before deciding how the Life cycle works for the forest domain, I got nothing in mind so I’m open to see what I’m given and going from there.

Millennial tree is still proficient in all magic, he’s kind of like the head of the flow of life, wouldn’t be surprised if he started it all those eons ago. So if frost queen is a manager Mille Is like the head manager or something idk. Though he’s not super attentive to it since the other elementals got it covered.

Sea fairys flow of life had to adapt without her when her curse froze her for decades. And when she woke up it became self sufficient, so she can just sorta leave it alone. The only duty she’d need to be directly involved in is the ritual giving gem mermaids their power, but since abyss monarch isn’t creating any new gem mermaids (they’re going through a character arc about stuff) she’s just not needed. I think she’d be open to doing that again but isn’t about to push abyss monarch into starting up gem mermaids creation. Same with heart of the deep sea, basically sea fairy is retired and honestly good for her.

Sugar swan I’ve been thinking about, I’m making them millennial tree’s wife in this au and since she’s like the head of the seasons she probably has a more broad thing on thr flow of life? Like seasons will change on their on without her intervention, (except in the dessert paradise, it’s very reliant on her presence or lack there of) but she makes sure things are running smooth. Winter is lasting too long here? She will cut it off so spring can roll in. Summer is too short here? She will extend it briefly so things can settle over for the next season. She basically makes sure nothing goes completely out of sync. I like to think it’s magic is powerful in its own right in comparison to millennial tree. Because they deserve it.

Moonlight governs dream magic which idk if it has a flow of life exactly but maybe it’s more, dream magic is Inherently linked to the flow of life because only living beings can dream? Idk at the very least she helps out because she’s nice like that. At most dream magic is connected to it so like if thr dream world is getting funky check the flow of life because something might be off. I’ll admit this one is a bit flimsy atm I’m going to brainstorm on that one a bit

You climbed down the tree, holding the tree for support once you get down.

“What did I do to get these people to hate me so much…” You said to yourself.

“Hm.. I hope nothing to serious.” Said a voice from the forest.

You gasped and started to panic again, vines started to wrap around you to protect you, putting sharp plants in front to stop whats scaring you.

“No need to be scared, Im Millennial tree, I look over the forest for danger. I’ve been sleep for so long only to waken by people looking for some wanted person, which im guessing is you?” Millennial tree said as he walked towards you slow enough to not seem threatening. People can be intimidated by his height, so he makes his movement not to sudden and sharp.

You nodded to his question. the vines and plants slowly retreating.

“Do you know why they’re after you?” Millennial Tree sat on a tree stump.

“no, i woke up on the ground not understanding anything about my surroundings! I was like teleported here!” You sat on a tree stump next to him.

You continue to talk to Millennial Tree, sharing each others stories.

“Well that is something.. Follow me..” Millennial tree seemed slightly upset, but you agreed and followed along.

Oh Pure Vanilla, starting things again. You were the reason baker was sent away and now that they’re back you want to put them through it again. I’ll keep baker safe, unlike you and your twisted, lovesick, disgusting plans for them. Millennial Tree thought.

“Here we are!” Millennial Tree said.

He lead you to his home deep within the thickest parts of the forest. His home was in the trees, grand stairs leading up to them.

You walked up the stairs mesmerized by the sturdiness and the neatness. You’ve built Tree houses with stairs before, but it was never this amazing! You get to the doors, Millennial Tree opens them for you. The house or should you say castle, is beautiful. Millennial Tree leads you to a seat next to his fireplace.

“Now, we shall talk about a plan to help with this, Situation.” He takes a seat a next you.

“So, theres a whole kingdom after me, and for what!?” You were stressing.

“Dont stress to much, I have everything taken care of.” Millennial Tree gets up and grabs something off a bookshelf.

“Huh?- How?”

“Dont worry about it, just worry about learning how to walk straight. I noticed you struggling.”

All the search partys met up back at the castle late at night.

They must’ve heard you get out of bed because Millennial Tree opened your door with a tray of breakfast.

You and Millennial Tree were outside, you resting in a hammock, him reading some book while sitting on the blanket laid across the floor where you both just had a picnic. The peace was interrupted by some green cookie.

“Sir, I must talk to you- Privately..”

“hm” Millennial Tree gets up to talk with him.

You think nothing of it, Millennial Tree told you about a few people that help him with the forest. So you think its something about a plant or animal.

Oh but you were wrong, so wrong.

Millennial Tree comes back, clearly stressed. He walks over to you and picks you up bridal style.

“H-Huh! Where are we going!?”

He didn’t answer you, just started to walk towards a dark area of the forest. You tried to get out of his grasp but just couldnt.

“Come on, I want an explanation. Thats the least you could do.”

He starts to slow down to a normal walk.

“You are being followed, chased, Wanted.” He goes to a stop. “My home is very hard to find.. But an old friend, hes after you.. He knows where my home is but I never showed him where this other place is.” He starts to walk again.

“Shouldn’t the posters help Baker find their way home?” Pure Vanilla said.

Him and Eclair were walking down the garden.

“They shouldve, but im not the one you created the posters- Oh! Speak of the devil, theres poster right there!” Eclair picked up the poster. “Oh great heavens..”

“Hm? Whats so wrong with it?-”

The poster was intimidating. ‘Wanted’ was in bold red and so was the bounty.

“Bounty!? Why would there be a bounty on Baker?! They are not a criminal!” Pure Vanilla hit his staff on the ground. “Now tell me, who made these?..” Pure Vanilla looked Eclair in the eyes.

“Im not sure sir, I heard they go by MTWA.”

“hm..” Pure Vanilla then walks off.

You and Millennial Tree make it to the place, He still wont tell you what it is. You’re still in his arms, even when he walked in the building.

“Um. You can put me down now.” You tried to squirm out of his arms but his grip on you got tighter.

He went up the stairs in to a luxurious room. He placed you on the bed and then walked to the closet and got you something to sleep in. He placed the clothes on the bed then walked out.

After you got finished changing, you walked to the door to ask Millennial Tree more about this place and his friend. When you pulled on the door it didn’t open, you pushed on the door and it didnt open. You were locked in. You started banging on the door.

“Millennial Tree! Hello! Are you there?!” You yelled.

You backed away from the door to catch your breath after yelling a bit more. You went to the window, it was also locked.

“Dear, are you alright?” Millennial Tree opened the door.

“Why would I? You locked me in a room in a place I dont know!” You got closer to Millennial Tree.

“I know the situation is.. discomforting, but trust me, your safety is my number one priority. I suggest you get some sleep.”

As quickly as you got mad a Millennial Tree, You were just as shocked and your heart dropped when you noticed someone behind him with something pointed at his head. The green cookie is in ropes and he is held by his arm.

Star stabbed at her chow mein from her place on Paulina's couch. Her mind was racing trying to sort everything in her life. Between Dash's ghost situation, the hectic state of student council (you can't find funding for two new school dances in one year. You just can't do it!), and a tricky new Government paper, she felt like she couldn't afford to give all her attention to her friends.

"Oh my God."

Well, alright, she could always spare some attention for Paulina.

"What is it, Lina?"

"Dash has been spending an awful lot of time with Fenton recently."

"Huh." Kwan set down his broccoli beef and slowly leaned into the couch. "I guess it's probably a ghost thing. Like, Fenton's got access to a bunch of portals and weapons and stuff. Or at least he did when we went up against those pirate ghosts. How do you think Dash is keeping his secret from the guy?"

"It's more than that. Dash is fully putting up with Fenton. Even though it looks to me like Fenton isn't enjoying it much. If he needed equipment, wouldn't he just go to the guy's sister? She's actually tolerable."

Huh. She had a point. 

Kwan shrugged. "Well, she is really smart. I bet he's worried she'd figure out that he's a ghost."

"Hold on. That might be it, but I think Lina's on to something." She was clearly going somewhere with this, and Star wanted to know where. "I feel like Dash has been following him around like a puppy. Almost like… he's started, like, admiring him, or something."

Kwan's eyes brightened in understanding. "Hey, if Dash has been getting help from Phantom sometimes, do you think maybe they're sharing resources? Say, if Phantom had any help getting into tough places and getting his hands on equipment, I bet Dash knows about it too."

Star liked how this was coming together. "Gosh, guys, have you ever noticed how Fenton seems to leave and take that thermos with him whenever there's a ghost? And that time that we were all over at his house, he certainly knew how to hand out weapons and get us using them."

Kwan smiled back at her, just as satisfied with a mystery solved.

"Wasn't it weird," added Paulina, "when Dash said Phantom had experience with half-ghosts?"

Oh.

'Oh my God' indeed.

November 19

I didnt realize how long its been since I journaled. Shit's just been so hectic lately I kinda forgot to be honest haha. Well for one thing my friends know about Dannys secret now. Paulina just sorta put it together. Shes always been good at problem solving and that kind of stuff, apparently I've been hanging out with him way more now and that was enough to make a conection? When Danny found out he insisted his friends and him get to talk to them to make sure they don't rat him out to the G I W or whatever but honestly it looks like their getting along pretty good after that. My friends wanted to see more stuff about how ghosts live(?) so we got to go on a trip Danny and his friends wanted to take me on some time anyway. It was Ok so apparently when Danny got ice powers he had to figure out how to use them and also not freeze to death (am I gonna get ice powers?? is he gonna have to teach me? or would I learn straight from these guys) and when he did that, it was these like sasquach guys who had to train him for a bit. So now their like buddies. They live in an ice tribe called the Far frozen and that's where we went today. That's in the ghost zone!!

It was really scary worrying tbh. The ghost zone is super not designed for humans to be in it so it was kinda like we where going to space or something. Aparently people can breathe and stuff but their organs will get all fucked up from the weird gravity and radiation if theyre out there for too long. Danny said I'd be fine though. So anyway we had to wait untill the fentons weren't home, and Dannys' friends got this spaceship car thing out and told us a bunch of safety prep like we were going on a roller coaster. Do they really think we were just gonna fuck around and put ourselves in danger in a new dimension? It was like listening through the instructions before the C A T. ugh. But it was cool becuz after that we got to go into the ghost zone! The portal kinda sucked to go through, it reminded me of when I the bazooka. But when we got in it was super cool, it was like you could taste the air without opening your mouth… it was like when you drink an energy drink to stay awake and it actually works and doesn't feel like shit.

When we were driving there was all these doors and islands and stuff just floating everywhere. Danny started talking about it, and there was so much cool stuff I didn't know about ghosts!! The doors usually go to ghost's lairs which are like there personal homes (do I have a lair or is it just my house? I should ask Danny what his lair is) but sometimes they just go to diffrent time periods and places in the normal world?? There was this sick ass island that had a giant skull on it. Some Junglanji shit. But Danny said we couldn't get close cuz the island belonged to that Skulker guy. I don't see what the issue is when I've seen Phantom take him down so much before but there was too much other cool stuff to put up a fight. One time it looked like we were gonna run into a school of fish, but they were little green blob ghosts. I've seen those in town a couple times but theyre never in swarms like that back home! Blob ghosts are SO CUTE. Maybe I can have one as a pet some day.

So when we got to the Far frozen it was cold as hell. What a surprise huh? The whole place was just this massive plain of snow. It was like those pictures of Canada. But as soon as we got off the ship, the main chief guy Frost bite greeted us. He was this yeti sasquatch polar bear thing and he was HUGE but once my friends were done being scared he shook our hands and offered to carry us and oh my god he was so soft. Also his arm was like made of ice and it had bones showing thru it, which is just wicked. He took us into the town, and they had igloos and furs and stuff like those Alaskan tribes but there was also electronics and stuff? I didn't even think ghosts had towns let alone made tech. Everybody was super nice and they had all this great art made out of ice. I get that they have ice powers but oh my god?? Oh yeah and everybody kept calling Danny great one like he was the guy in one of those midevil romance flicks. I don't think he wanted them too but when we asked why, Frost bite told us he saved everybody from that viking dude who put the town in the ghost zone freshman year. God I didn't even think about how it was Danny who did that.

Yeah. We got to eat some of their food when we knew it was human safe and then we went home. I could sleep for a day but it was sooo cool. (Heh that was kind of a pun)

Lily loves to travel and on one of her trips she found Affogato injured and alone, since then the two became very close to the point where they consider each other siblings.

On another trip to the sea, she and Affogato met Black Pearl.

Somehow they managed to strike up a civilized conversation with her and became friends, then they met the others and Lily helped them get along.

Lily decided to live in the woods of Beast-Yeast, so as not to be bothered by hunters or other cookies.

The Cursed Beings: Manticore (Elpis x Reader)

Warning: Manticore, kind of scary, scars, flirty, etc.

"This is torture!" You shout as you walk. Dusk looks over and rolls his eyes.

"I could show you actual torture… We have to split up here." Dusk places his hand on his hip as he looks over at Dusk. You huff at the skeleton before heading into the trees. You dislike the fact that it is so silent. This was awful. Your body tenses when you hear a gentle snap.

"Gotta go, gotta go…" You start whispering when you believe you feel a tail touch your leg. You tighten and jump as you stumble and fall to the ground. You gasp in pain as you hear a gentle giggle. You stiffen up as your gaze meets a pair of deep crimson eyes. You become pale when you notice the scar on its right eye.

"What's a pretty thing like you doing all by your lonesome….?" The creature purred as it moved closer. You might call the voice deep and masculine. It raises a paw as you flinch, but you feel it barely brush something.

"Wh…Wha…" Your mouth opens and closes like a gaping fish. It chuckled and nonchalantly shook a leaf from its paw. You focus, and you can tell he's a manticore.

"You got some leaves in your hair. Now, are you going to answer my question or am I going to have to repeat myself?" The manticore quietly circles you. It's tail dragging lazily on the floor. You gulp as you watch him circle you.

"M-My uh- my team was doing some research on the legends of these parts..." You sputter out and he hums. He leans towards you his eyes glowing. You blink as he looks more skeleton than Manticore. The manticore chuckles before he pulls back. He was standing on his hind legs, he looked like a very tall skeleton. He sits down in front of you. He raises one leg and rests the other down. He puts his chin on his knees.

"Is that right…? Well, you are looking at one." The manticore smirks, making you blush. He was undeniably attractive.

"Oh, one of the legends…? No way… They existed centuries ago." You spoke shakily as he hummed and leaned against his hand.

"I am Elpis… Sounds familiar…?" Elpis, the manticore, smirked as you tensed. How was this possible? It should not be. He shouldn't be…

"Y-Yes, but h-how…?" When you ask, Elpis hums and gestures to his cursed form. He smirked slyly.

"I'm cursed." He leans on his leg, smirking. He appears to shrug slightly in reaction to your stare. "So, got any questions, or are you going to keep staring?" Elpis makes jokes while he glances at you.

"I-I didn't actually think-" you begin, but he appears to giggle slightly. He leans his head against his hand.

"Yeah, yeah, now with the questions." Elpis seemed to be encouraging you to talk. You blink, but you grab your notes and stare at him intently.

"Uh- okay... What are you? How did this happen? And um... Are you the only one?" You ask. Elpis hums as he stretches a bit. His wings spread a bit as he does so.

"I'm a skeleton manticore. Gods happened. Also no, I am not the only one." Elpis chuckles as he leans on his hand.

"Uh… So- so were you always…?" You couldn't find the perfect words to say when you asked. Elpis observes you silently.

"Do you mean I was always a skeleton manticore? No, I was a regular person many years ago… But I don't remember how I used to look so I'm just a manticore now." Elpis shrugs and rests back against the tree. He crosses his legs crisscross-style. "Well, I guess I have some things to do. But…perhaps we can meet again?" Elpis grins as he pokes your nose. He returns to his manticore form and does the cat stretch before flying away.

"Wait- ah… He's gone…" You blink as he flies away… It can't get any worse than this. You couldn't feel the other two sets of eyes on you.
