All of Fanon!Chloe suddenly were gathering in the one place until some guys who looks familiar to them come into the place. At first, they didn’t know who he is until one of them are remembered him.

Arctique!Chloe: “So this is the guy who treated us as an irredeemable monster, huh?”

Medusa!Chloe: “Yep, an asshole who giving redemption to the whole grown ass adults who treated and manipulated us.”

Thomas astruc: “Hey guys take it easy, I’m just kidding and didn’t mean to hurt you. Isn’t you love to make Marinette and the others to suffer….”

A punch comes to his nuts who apparently Anatis!Chloe in the Valkyrie form who did that later followed by Chloe who wields Snake Miraculous to pull his beard which makes him kneeling on the ground. Later, three of them are surrounded that man and shows their cynical towards him.

Valkyrie!Chloe: “You can still talk guffaws like that in front of us and accusing us to make your virtual daughter to suffer.”

Medusa!Chloe: “I heard this big mouth labeled us as an anomaly just because we don’t same like his punching bag.”

Arctique!Chloe: “Tsk, let’s give this scumbag what he deserves.”

Thomas astruc: “Guys, please I’m sorry and I…promise…to give my creation the truly redemption in the next story…”

Valkyrie!Chloe: “Nice try, Tommy. Your promise isn’t matter anymore for all of us.”

The attack keeps coming to Thomas even they didn’t give any chance for him to defend himself. Not far from there. Canon!Chloe who’s seen that didn’t expect watching herself from another universe who wields Miraculous giving some justice for everything Thomas gave to her. Even though, she feels this is will not restore what has been passed.

MQ Rewrite!Chloe: “I know this is won’t change anything for you. Hopefully, he won’t hurt you any further after what you've been through lately.”

Canon!Chloe: Am I will become holder like you in the future?

MQ Rewrite!Chloe: “I really hope like that but after what you have been through, it’s better for you to stay away for a while because I’m afraid they’re just using you as the object to preaching you with some nonsense toxic positivity from Ladybug and your sister.”

Note: These chloe are from my favorite fics that I’ve read on AO3. Even though, they aren’t really like that in their fics and I used them as a plot device in this short fic. The last one was from my fic that still on going 😆✌️

OMG, my dreamhouse. This home in New Orleans is gorgeous, b/c I love 'em old inside, full of patina and character. It has 5bds, 4.5ba and is listed for $1.450M. Good thing someone bought it, b/c I can't afford it, anyway.

As soon as I saw this entrance hall, I fell in love. I love this look.

Crazy about these 2 rooms. I wonder if the plants convey b/c they're perfection. This is incredible, it's all original. I can't believe they didn't make it brand new.

They fixed up the pool room, but they left the molding and floor untouched. Maybe this room was in such bad shape they had to fix it.

The kitchen is fabulous. It's not renovated whatsoever. Look at the original sink and vintage stove. There's also a bed in here.

Oh, this room is glorious. It's like a conservatory. Love the flooring, too.

Wow, look at the guest powder room under the stairs. I don't really like that rusty sink, though. It's cute, but I would have to try to clean it up more.

The home has a courtyard and another wing.

This is lovely. Original shiplap, beautiful view of the garden, and I love the fixtures in the bathroom, plus the floor.

This is so nice. The bedroom opens to the courtyard and I love the fireplace.

Isn't this stunning? The main bd has a sitting room, a little mini kitchenette, a double fireplace, and spiral stairs.

The bathroom is small, but it's cute.

Wow, here's a spacious room with an en-suite. Look at the rusty tin ceiling.

What happened here? Who put up a new bath with vintage fixtures?

This must be an attic room.

Wow, cool workroom.

The courtyard is so nice- pool, hot tub, sitting area, and look at the lovely balcony.

They put a container in the yard, painted it purple, and made it a fabulous guest house.

Or, it could be someone's bedroom/bath. This is so cool. And, look at the vintage sink, plus how can you not love a Medusa shower curtain?

Wow, I didn't realize this home was so large, looking at it from the front.

Very long Chapter 96 feelings/thoughts below cut coz I saved my hard-earned Naver cookies for this and I'm going to react while it's fresh dammit.

Spoilers in every possible way, as always.

Oh my God its their first official date and of course it doesn't go Theo's way at all coz he's fighting a lost cause against an author with a sense of humour I share. Thank God his people love him

Nearly 100 chapters later and only now do we start steering towards Therdeo "My angel" Lapileon from the prologue (which I still find it difficult to fathom; the road is long and arduous from Therdeo 'Face as Red as My Eyes' Lapileon we see right now)

I have yet to translate the dialogue properly, but that last panel of him honestly unnerves me (and judging from Google Translated comments in Korean, I'm not the only one.) I'm not really one for the kind of ML who is madly obsessive over their love interest to extremely difficult extents coz I'm too old and cynical to see this as a good thing in a relationship, fictional or otherwise (This is purely a personal preference; no judgement if that's your jam and jelly)

But the thing is that it makes sense. Of course Theo would get dangerous over the first woman he's fallen in love with. Of course he'd do anything to keep her now that, yknow, she's actually made her feelings known. After 90+ chapters of angsting, literally watching her die a few times in front of him, holding such huge feelings of guilt for what his blood has done to her, quietly despairing over keeping anyone close to him coz he's a Lapileon and they succumb so often to death -- this overwhelming fear of losing her is understandable. The idea of her leaving now must be intolerable, like "not after every damn thing I've been through. Everything we have been through. Over my cold dead body".

...I've had the thought quite a few times that seungu succeeded in convincing me that Theo is scary, and this chapter - while also very sweet - is really laying that fact out again in no uncertain terms: Therdeo Lapileon really shouldn't be messed with.

The thing is, meta-wise, there is no end to cold, stern dukes of the frozen North with fearsome reputations, black/dark hair and red/dark eyes - it's one of the most longstanding fantasy romance tropes in manhwa after all. Throw a stone and you'll hit a milord with a chest so wide you can fit a full dresser sideways between his shoulders and a face so stony Medusa is taking notes. And of course, his grace is going to have the reputation of Ultimate Warrior and Sovereign of His Land, Tamer of the Terrain, Reviver of the Barren Soil Now Made Fertile under His Leadership, because only such a powerful man with a heart of ice and terror would have the wherewithal to bend the unyielding north to his will. He isn't emperor/king simply because of circumstances (TM), character and/or choice.

To name just a few: Prince (...kinda? Sorta? Its a long story) Killian from Like Wind on a Dry Branch, Hades from I Married the Main Lead's Dad, Riftan from Under the Oak Tree, Kandel from I Thought My Time Was Up, Milian from Karina's Last Days; heck, even the other Killian from Not Your Typical Reincarnation Story is about to inherit a territory that isn't so great but which he will no doubt develop into a thriving land coz he's Capable that way. If you remove the hair and eye colour conditions, there are even more examples. 99% of them are said to strike fear into the hearts of men just by being mentioned in a room.

...ngl, putting my gigantic bias aside, Theo truly is among my top three scariest ML. Not even Killian (Rieta's) gives me pause the way Theo does, and I have immense respect and admiration for the way Like Wind on A Dry Branch is told (and translated). I know Killian is a powerful man; I feel Theo is threatening. (Brief aside here to acknowledge that Killian has game for days, while Theo is....... look, he's trying.)

Take this opinion with many grains of salt, but few MLs that I've seen so far (and admittedly my repertoire is probably very limited compared to others) has come close to the time Theo plain snapped during Celphi's bullying arc, and when he nearly decapitated a wholeass princess in front of the entire court because she killed his wife (again. And yes, justifiable but still, in front of the EMPEROR HIMSELF.)

Also, the man looked like THIS when the servant who poisoned her begged him to "go back to the princess":

I say this with all love: Theo is not a balanced individual.

We already know this is a world where medieval torture is par for the course, but so far it's been reserved for Gen, who tortured and experimented on a child, and this dude who's been an accessory to Dodolea's crimes since the beginning. Theo does not give a single fuck about trivial things like consequences when it comes to Celphi and Perry's wellbeing. The world will burn if it must, just so he can find out who hurt them.

I said before that Saoirse is a true Lapileon, and Theo was the softest hearted of the siblings. I still maintain it's true, but with the addendum that Theo isn't far off in ruthlessness. You just need to make the mistake of hurting his wife or his son.

Granted, the obsession is only a problem if he restricts Perry just because she's "His". And she's proven a few times that she will Do Shit She Wants regardless of the Lapileons, Princess Dodolea or even herself (god, the way she second guessed herself so hard, only to bust back into the room with those shackles and physically FIGHT MIA OFF in ch 92 - Phineas owes her impulsiveness his life literally). I don't think the story can logically progress that way unless Perry has some sort of personality transplant. And I trust seungu too much for that. The fear is in more what he'll do behind her back (please don't Theo, we've been through this, you know what happened the last time you did things without telling her first - and even if other things went well (like suppressing ugly false stories in publications) that doesn't guarantee you're doing the right thing by not keeping her informed, you walnut.

...yes I know she also has the same bad habit of Not Telling You Her Business but she's LEARNING. I think.)

...also, tbf, Theo doesn't need his obsession to make him a danger to his own love life. Romance or not, he's still Socially Awkward and Fucked Up so lord only knows how many awkward mistakes he's going to make trying to actively court his wife 🥲

Then again, it's not like she's any better considering her last serious relationship was so awful, she literally died and went back in time. I'm not surprised, and in fact quite glad, it took her this long to admit to her finer feelings. However, now this is slightly uncharted territory, and this woman bottles up her feelings and lies to herself just about as much as Theo does. (Why are you so bothered Mia spent so much time around him? Why are you so upset that you can't do more to help him? Why are you so worried whenever he's seemingly avoiding you? Why do you look away each time he gives you puppy dog eyes, Pereshati? HMMM? WHY INDEED)

And now they have to return to the capital with all these revelations, and be within reach of the imperial family again and I AM AFRAID FOR THEM, PRECIOUS, I TRULY AM.

On a completely different tangent: I am truly not a fan of the novel ending where Theo ends up being crowned emperor. So if this manhwa ends with the coronation of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Therdeo Lapileon and Her Imperial Majesty Empress Pereshati Jahardt, I will be heartbroken. Like, I would have the same reaction to it the way Game of Thrones fans reacted to Season 8. That's how bad I would take it. I hope to all things good seungu deviates from there as well. It feels like the romance is following the novel just a smidge more - a soupçon if you will - in this season, so I'm a little trepidatious about what other aspects might follow. I remain a big fan of how different the manhwa direction is, so... GO SEUNGU!! FOLLOW YOUR STAR!!

P/S: my train of thought while reading ch 90:

Seungu is just bringing all of Phineas' personal trauma in full technicolor when he flashes back to his younger self witnessing his parents fight while his older brother sustains a severe eye injury, oh my god. This poor boy - no wonder he wanted to run so badly.

Oh god, Gloria having to try and save her children from this insane man.

Okay, so this cements that it was Theo's grandfather who was tyrannical as fuck and abused everyone including his youngest grandson? not Theo's father who also looks like he was just Trying His Best? But Gen's dialogue mentions "abeoji" (father)? Did Phineas' older brother neglect his kids or grow up into another abuser??? oh GOD THIS FAMILY

PPS: I cannot WAIT to see how the English translators handle that panel in ch95 when he finally finds enough braincells to return her embrace (that's not just any hug, cmon - that's a full on, no holds barred, literary Embrace)

I'm fairly sure she said "It's/I'm cold", but I also got overexcited because I thought she said "I like you" (???) It's easy to overlap/overhear either phrase as each other coz they sound fairly similar if you say it quickly (same energy like saying "suki" in Japanese but you need context to know if they mean they like a person or something else entirely).

Either way, it was definitely NOT "saranghae", which let's face it, IS FAR TOO DEEP for where they are right now. These two doofuses have only just begun to find out what their feelings mean, tho Theo may be too quick a study , eomma help.

PPPS: Ep 87 comes out in English tomorrow morning (for us in GMT+8 anyway) AND I WILL HAVE WORDS ABOUT THAT CONVERSATION, VJFHDJSKSKSL I CANNOT WAIT

PPPPS: it just occurred to me that all the examples I mentioned about the other comparable dukes of the North have more or less Definitively gotten together with their love interests, emotionally and/or physically. I mean if someone came up with a gantt chart/comparative timeline/line graph of when each duke finally kissed/tumbled into bed with their love interests to prove me wrong/right, that'd be fantastic but anyway

Theo has only just hugged her in ch 95.

They have shared a bed for over 90 chapters and it is ONLY JUST NOW that there is prolonged bodily contact apart from holding (often gloved) hands.

...I keep saying this because it's true: I love this slow burn so much.

When I saw your argument over Gorgons working by eye contact vs Superman Heat Vision-style (or Bizarro-Girl Solid Vision... that is a thing), I recalled: Don't the Gorgon Sisters in American Dragon Jake Long have petrification gaze that works like heat vision? Is that different in the Crossover, or are you just discussing that for the ML Monster AU?

Considering the crossover with my PJO stuff, this could get a hot mess.

Do we have the actual Medusa and her sisters? Or are they just other Gorgons who happen to be evil?

Re:turning to stone:

They didn't have like. Laser vision esque powers. It was just that their gaze only turned people to stone when the power was active instead of just 'any time you look at her face'.

I could go either way. I like the fucked-up-ness of it being something that can't be turned off, but that'd suck to live like that for the whole race of creatures. Might have it so the Original Greek Myths of Medusa and her sisters have the 'can't be turned off, can't be reversed' thing and the later species have the 'only when active' thing.

OMG I love the idea of Medusa being a Guardian of the Miraculous! How did she get along with the other Kwamis? Does that mean she was the one who started the Greek Miraculous Team?

- Similar to how Master Fu’s bonded kwami was Wayzz, Sass was her bonded Kwami. She always wore the bangle on her wrist at all times.

- Unlike Fu, she lets all the Kwami’s roam around the temple to do their own thing. They just aren’t allowed to leave the temple however.

- Medusa gets along with all the Kwami’s fairly well. Tikki and Pollen are very motherly to her, and both try to help Medusa with her anger problems.

- Plagg tries to help in his own way, he suggest that any abusers that enter her temple that after she turns them to stone, she should knock over the statue! She tries it and it is strangely therapeutic.

- Nooroo, sweet, sweet Nooroo, along with Wayzz tries to help Medusa with mediations, but being alone in her thoughts just brings back bad memories.

- Trixx’s often plays with Medusa, playing illusions of stories long past, similar to that of a puppet show.

- A lot of the Zodiac Kwami’s try to help in different ways, and it isn’t until Perseus appears that things take a turn.

- Unlike what past stories tell you, he was blind-folded. He came to speak to Medusa, to ask for her aid in a task that is too big for himself to do, that he means her no harm.

- Dusuu tells Medusa he is being truthful, and that he feels trustworthy.

- Medusa is uncertain, but he is the first man to enter her temple asking for Medusa’s aid, and the first for Dusuu to tell that he is being truthful.

- So Medusa speaks to him, and agrees to help him on his quest... and that is how her adventure begins and how she meets the rest of the wielders of different Miraculous along the way.

Of Snake Scales and Tails

For Maribat March 2021 day 7 prompt Betrayal.

I decided to go a little different this prompt, with a Medusa AU. This is based on the classic story of how Poseidon r*ped Medusa with Athena giving Medusa her snakes as a defense mechanism.

I hope you enjoy.

Marinette was born the youngest and only mortal daughter of a pair of primordial sea deities, Tizianna and André. Chloé, the oldest of the three, and Lila were born Gorgons, beings who were half woman half serpent.

Chloé had the tail of a Queen snake, yellow belly scales with yellow stripes spanning the length of her tail from either hip to the tip of her tail while the rest of her tail was a dark gray, in place of human legs. Her honey blonde hair fell in tightly coiled ringlets around her shoulders while her eyes, a brilliant light blue colour, looked mostly human above a few rows of yellow scales adorning each cheekbone. She took after their father André with her pale skin and high cheekbones.

Lila, on the other hand, had living snakes for hair. Her hair was made up of dozens of Balkan Whip snakes and was a little over three feet in length down her back but much shorter on the sides of her head. Her snakes were mostly brown with lighter yellow-brown heads. She had sage green eyes with round pupils above a few rows of brown scales adorning each other cheekbone. She took after their mother Tizianna with her darker skin and upturned nose.

Marinette had clear blue-gray eyes and short black hair which fell to her chin. She had a collection of freckles across the bridge of her nose. She had pale skin and, unlike her two older sisters, she was free of scales. She seemed to be a mix of her parents with André’s pale skin and Tizianna’s upturned nose.

Marinette aspired to be a priestess of Barbara, a beautiful and wise goddess, when she grew up. She spent most of her formative years playing with her two older sisters. She would pretend to be Barbara while her sisters would indulge her and pretend to be Barbara’s sisters Stephanie and Cassandra.

Marinette’s best friend growing up was a boy named Icaro. Icaro had light brown hair and hazel eyes with a tiny pitchfork shaped scar on the side of his arm. Icaro had always been there, watching her grow and seeming to grow alongside her.

When Marinette grew old enough to begin her training at the temple, Marinette put all of her energy into being the best priestess she could be. She performed every task with grace and perfected her motions while performing rituals.

Soon, news of Marinette’s beauty drew crowds to the temple, first by the tens then by the hundreds until eventually it was by the thousands. Marinette paid them no mind, her duty was serving her goddess and honouring her temple.

Some of the people who gathered to see Marinette would make claims that greatly angered Barbara, claiming that the mortal girl’s hair was more beautiful than the goddess’s own.

She would live to regret being born so beautiful.

On Mount Olympus, Barbara quelled her temper. Marinette had done nothing to upset her, in fact Marinette was her favourite priestess. However, Adrien, god of the sea, storm, earthquakes, and horses, was more vindictive. He’d lost the battle with Barbara over the city, named Borada, centuries ago and he wanted his revenge. Little did Barbara know that Adrien had plans for her little priestess.

While Marinette was strolling along the beach one day, she heard someone call her name. She turned towards the sound of her name and came face to face with Adrien. She averted her eyes, the god was married after all.

“Good day God Adrien.” Marinette bowed to the god. “How are you?”

Adrien attempted to use his charms to woo her. Scaring her back into the temple.

Marinette hid in the temple, praying to her goddess for safety and guidance.

Marinette spent time hiding behind the columns in the temple until she heard a familiar voice.

“Marinette? Are you okay? I saw you run in here in a panic.” the voice of her childhood best friend Icaro sounded from the entrance of the temple.

“Oh Icaro!” Marinette cried as she raced out of her hiding spot and threw herself into Icaro’s arms. “I was so scared!”

“You’re safe now Marinette. I’ve got you.” Icaro grinned maniacally and used magic to turn himself back into Adrien. “I’ve got you now and your precious Barbara can’t do anything to help you.”

On Mount Olympus, Barbara, goddess of wisdom, craft and strategic war, was being restrained by Stephanie, goddess of sexual love and beauty, and Cassandra, goddess of wild animals, the hunt, vegetation, childbirth and chastity. The three sister goddesses could not help but to sneer at Adrien’s despicable behaviour.

“Sisters. He has defiled my best priestess.” Barbara all but growled, her voice leaving no room for platitudes.

Stephanie nodded understandingly. “He will pay for what he has done Sister. Even if we must go before Father Bruce and Uncle Clark. He will pay for what he has done Sister.”

“I could always bless your priestess with infertility to prevent a child from this union.” Cassandra offered before Barbara turned to her with shock.

“Sister, no. My priestess shall be allowed to make her own choices.” Barbara pondered what to do for a moment before turning to both of her sisters. “Sisters. Help me bless my priestess with a power to keep men’s unwanted attraction off of her.”

The three goddesses hatched a plan and waited for Adrien to leave the temple. They had a gift to give.

Marinette threw herself upon the ground in front of the statue of her goddess, tears streaming down her face. “Oh Goddess Barbara. I’ve not been unfaithful. I am so sorry for what has been done to me, it must have been something I did. Please have mercy on me.”

Marinette, although never having acknowledged it aloud, was always jealous of the way her older sisters looked, having loved playing with Lila’s hair and curling up with Chloé’s tail as a child. She had never wished more to look like her sisters than in that moment.

Barbara, accompanied by her two sisters, appeared in the temple, frowns on their faces as they heard Marinette’s pleas. “Rise, Priestess Marinette. For I have seen what has been done to you and am not here to condemn you. Instead, my sisters and I are here to bless you.” Barbara approached the still crying maiden and held out her hand. “Please, Priestess Marinette, allow my sisters and I to bless you.”

The three goddesses smiled as the young priestess rose and allowed them to bless her. After they’d blessed her the goddesses took a step back to admire their work.

Where once there were inky black locks were now short melanistic Balkan Whip snakes with dark almost black green eyes. In place of her legs was now the tail of a melanistic Queen snake, identifiable by the almost black gray stripes that mimicked Chloé’s. Marinette’s eyes, which were once both blue-gray, were now two different colours. Her right eye was a few shades darker than Chloé’s while her left eye was several shades darker than Lila’s. Under her left eye was a few rows of black scales that matched her tail while under her right eye was a few rows of black scales that matched her hair snakes.

“You will now have the ability to ward off any unwanted advances and the power to protect others as well.” Barbara began as she smiled at her favourite priestess. “Please, Priestess Marinette, use your newfound powers wisely. You must only lock eyes with whomever is making you or whomever you protect for a few moments and utter either my name or the name of one of my sisters.”

“Thank you, my goddess. And many thanks to you, the sisters of my goddesses.”

Marinette spent the rest of her days protecting the young maidens of Borada, living alongside her sisters (who found any excuse to run their fingers across their little sister’s scale in awe that despite being born completely mortal she had been transformed to look like them and she didn’t regret a second of it), and upholding her oath to her goddess.

If Adrien suddenly found himself with a few thousands fewer adoring mortals, it was no one’s fault but his own as Marinette told and retold her tale to any who would listen. Warning beautiful young maidens of the tricks of the gods, but also reminding them that not all of the gods were cruel.
