Sure Thing (Gendry x Arya)
His woman doesn’t do anything halfway.
She doesn't "appear" on Sunday political talk show panels, she flays stodgy old pundits and Parliamentarians with needlelike precision.
She doesn't "apologize" for screwing up their holiday, she bends over the bed and allows him to take out all the frustration he felt sitting alone at his parents' Solstice dinner table on her pert little ass.
And when she alters the trajectory of their lives, she does it dressed in one of his tank tops and a pair of boy shorts. With his favorite sweet potato cheesecake from Hot Pies for breakfast and a Solstice card delivered via Nymeria, dog slobber and all, that reads:
"We can do it, baby, simple and plain… Marry me."
What?
Arya is feminist,  non-conformist, and non-traditional. She’s given him dozens of graduate-level lectures about misogynistic institutions and how ownership and love are separate values. She moved in with him and day by day, proved she was as relentless in her love for him as she is with everything else. And he agreed that he didn't need the ring or the ceremony because those were small sacrifices compared to not having this maddening half-wolf, half-woman for the rest of his life.
He breathes through the pounding in his chest and scans the words again. And again. And a third time before speaking. "But you don't…"
Across the kitchen counter, Arya nods. "I know what I said." Then, she bites her lip. "And I know you don't need it and I love you for that. But...I think I do. I need everyone in my life to take this," she motions between them, "as seriously as I do."
Gendry looks down at his pie and shakes his head. Life with Arya Stark would never be simple.
“Let’s think about it. Not 'if.' Of course, I want to marry you. But you don’t do ‘traditional,’ so we need to decide what marriage looks like for us.”
“Okay…”
“And then,” he meets her tentative gaze with a firm one, “I’m gonna ask you. With a ring. No diamonds, I know you hate those, but I'll make whatever you want.”
She does the lip bite/smile thing that ends him. Every bloody time. Gods, she's gorgeous. And ridiculous. And fucking perfect and all his. For life. He’s already crossing the counter to reach her before she very pointedly says “Sure thing.”

Note
in a modern scenario, do you think gendry and arya would’ve pinned as friends for a lot of time before becoming lovers (around late twenties-thirties)? or do you see them getting together while they’re still teenagers/early twenties?
It really depends on what kind of modern scenario you have in mind...
The first issue that comes to mind is the age gap. Although we are not certain if it's true, the gap declared by the books is five years. In my opinion this is an irrelevant gap from 20 years onwards, but for minors it is very relevant. It's also relevant because the character's culture influences what they find desirable. For example in a medieval-like world a mutual attraction between a teenage girl and a young man is not out of place, because the social norm is for girls to be of marriageable age once they have flowered and for boys to be of marriageable age once completed their apprenticeship and found a job that allows them to support a family.
But in the modern world this is not the case, most young men out there would not look at a teenage girl like a possible partner, because this is not socially accepted, if not even illegal. This is reflected in several modern au fanfictions for this ship, where Gendry is often shown as a friend of Jon and Robb, who considers Arya only like a little sister and then their relationship gradually changes over the years. I think this is one of the more “realistic” ways it could go, but I don't particularly like this scenario. I think it's out of character for Gendry to make friends with the rich kids, it work with Arya because she is the one to make the first step.
Another element to consider is classism. Nowadays it might be easier for Arya and Gendry to start a relationship, but I fear the Starks would try to hinder them if they wanted to make it more serious. The way I see it modern Ned and Cat wouldn't go so far as to arrange a marriage for her, but they would still expect her to marry someone from their social class. I can see them considering Gendry as a simple rebellious whim on Arya's part. Someone that they hope their daughter will get tired of sooner or later, or even suspecting him of gold digging.
Finally, another interesting factor to think about for a moder au could be the relationship between Gendry and Robert. Gendry is still an illegitimate child but nowadays it is a little more difficult to completely free yourself from basic parental responsibilities. Did Gendry's mother ask for a paternity test to make Robert recognize her son, or did she keep it a secret? Does Gendry receive maintenance? Is he entitled to a part of the inheritance of the rich Baratheon family? In that case, the dynamic with the Starks could change a lot.
Sorry, about this scenario I have more questions than answers. One of the reasons that makes it difficult for me to visualize modern Westeros is that often the fandom imagines it as a very US-like place. This is totally fair because Martin is american and a lot of his readers are too, but... I'm not, that's not my culture, I've never been there.

the night we met - Ch. 6
When nightmares leave Arya tossing and turning, she finds herself at Gendry's door. His roommates are lovably obnoxious, and Arya finds the comfort she so needed. But so quickly after, Gendry finds himself facing the memory he'd been both waiting for and dreading: the night they met.

SONG: "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron PAIRING: Arya/Gendry LENGTH: 1.6k words WARNINGS: Minors DNI
Nighttime sprung up around me, but it wasn’t that night. Not yet. An owl was hooting from a tree, the sound filtering through my open window, which was letting the springtime breeze into the dorm room. But there was a different sound drifting in from the other side – a dull, repetitive knock breaking the midnight stillness. It was quiet enough not to wake anyone up, except for the three boys on the other side of the door who had, up till then, been fast asleep.
“What’s ‘at?” the scrawny blond boy mumbled, turning over in his bed.
The other boy sat up and threw his pillow at me, and I almost went to duck, but the pillow passed right through me, hitting my old self square on the face.
“What was that for?” I’d grumbled.
“Get the fucking door, you tosser. It’s probably that girl you’re sweet on.”
“Hot Pie, her name’s Arya, I’m not sweet on her, and why on earth would she be showing up here at,” I checked the golden watch Arya had gotten me for Yuletide, “1 a.m.?”
Still, I watched myself get up and crack open the door. The second I saw Arya’s face, I knew something was horribly, terribly wrong. Her cheeks were stained with tears, and her hair looked like she had hastily tied it up after hours of tossing and turning in bed. Immediately, I stepped through the door and left it cracked behind me.
“What’s the matter?”
It took her a moment to get words out. “You remember how I said I was having nightmares. About the thing.” I could tell she was censoring herself, just in case the other boys in the room could overhear.
I nodded.
“They won’t go away tonight. I wasn’t sure where else to go.”
There had been so many times I’d wanted to hug Arya, and she had hugged me a few of them, but I wasn’t sure it was the right time to, and it took everything in me to hold back.
“I’d let you in, but I’m not sure Hot Pie or Lommy would appreciate that.”
“What the fuck’s a Lommy?”
It hadn’t taken more than a second after she spoke the words that the blond boy was pulling the door open wide. “I’m a Lommy, thank you very much. You must be Arya. Gendry’s had quite a lot to say about you to Hot Pie and I.”
I had looked back at him with panic in my eyes, not wanting him to reveal the depth of my feelings to my best friend. It had been so long since that day that the whole thing almost made me laugh to see it play out again. Those had been some dark times, but they had been simpler too. When it was only the specters of our dead and absent fathers that haunted us, and not the ghosts of lovers past.
“Oh for seven’s sake, just invite her in. There’s leftover pie in the minifridge,” the boy with the curly brown hair called out from his bunk.
“Wouldn’t that be a cold pie?” Arya asked as she stepped inside and closed the door behind her.
The night passed slowly as the three of us handed around the giant plate of pie and took turns shooting arrows at orcs on Lommy’s fancy gaming laptop. Hot Pie had fallen back asleep minutes after the empty pie dish got abandoned at the foot of his bed, and Lommy had followed suit soon after, leaving me and Arya lying shoulder to shoulder on my small bed.
“I don’t think I can go home for spring break,” she whispered in the darkness. “It was hard enough at Yuletide.”
“Well, I have this classmate, Pod.”
“Pod? Your friends sure have the strangest names.”
“It’s short for Podrick.”
She giggled in spite of herself, and I playfully put a finger to her lips. “Shh, they’re sleeping. Anyway, he’s going to King's Landing. He offered me a ride – I grew up there. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you came with. Sansa’s going to uni there right?” Arya nodded. “Well, what do you say? If I text him in the morning, I think there’ll still be time to work things out.”
“Let’s do it! It’d be nice to see Sansa.”
“We should introduce Pod to her. I’m sure he’d enjoy seeing Sansa too. Just, you know, for different reasons.”
“What about you?” she asked, almost timid.
“Oh, shove off. Gendry only has eyes for you,” Hot Pie grumbled from his bunk.
I had rolled my eyes and almost caught the hint of a smile on her face. “Of course I’d like to see Sansa. She’s my favorite person’s sister.”
“Hey, I thought I was your favorite person,” Lommy said, annoyed.
“That’s it, go to bed everyone,” I said, turning off the small lamp by my bed.
I drifted away that night as swiftly and as sweetly as I remembered, and I found myself drifting away quickly once more, the old gods taking me back through the scenes of our first year in uni as we became inseparable. I watched as Arya and I sat together studying in the library, though with much less kissing this time. An unbearable urge to look at her whenever she was looking down at her book had held me captive every time we tried to study together. There were all the times we went hiking too, just the two of us, along the empty river, contemplating life. One by one the memories drifted past, faster and faster, until the current pulled me to the very beginning of everything. To the making of my joy and the making of my pain.
The grassy hill was green and warm, aglow with summer, even on a northern night. So this was it. The night we met. We'd escaped out the back of the manor and sped off on my motorcycle, out into the rolling hills, stopping when my tank started to get low. Our fingertips played with the grass as we watched the sun slip slowly below the horizon, bathing us in red and gold. And like the sun, I could see the light in Arya's eyes fading.
"Just a week ago, Dad and I were getting ice cream and packing me up for uni. It doesn't feel real."
"I know." Arya could tell I meant it, too, even though I hadn't had it in me yet to tell her about my own loss.
"He was going to drop me off at school next month," she sighed.
"I'm renting a van. I could come pick you up."
"You'd do that for some random girl you just met?"
"I'd do it for you." A small spark returned to her eyes as the stars twinkled above. "Have you ever been to a bar?"
"Me? Gods no. Mom would have my head for that."
"You're 18 though? You're legal."
"'It's not a good look for a politician's daughter. Why can’t you be more like Sansa?'" she said, doing a scarily accurate impression of Catelyn Stark.
"There's a dive bar in the town over. We could stop by on the way to the petrol station?"
Arya rose to her feet and put out a hand to help me up. "Let's do it."
We headed back for the bike, and as I handed her the helmet, she whispered in my ear. "Thank you." That was the first time of many she gave me butterflies.
The words echoed in my head now. I'd heard them before both recently and a lifetime ago. Flashing through the darkness, I saw Arya's smiling face and gray eyes shining with unshed tears. "Thank you," she'd said when ending things. At the time, I had thought she was just thanking me for letting her go easy. But now, recognizing the earnestness in her voice, it took on a different meaning. With a sting of guilt, I realized she had been thanking me for the whole of it. Everything we'd ever been to each other. For loving her, for liking her, for just being there for her. Thanking me for everything all happening in the first place.
My heart felt like it was breaking apart all over again, and my body felt like it was still spread out on the soft summer grass. After all this time, after all the memories I had walked through, it was finally time to let her go. I sighed. It was for the best. For me. For her. She had probably felt as much pain as I had when things had ended. It was something I couldn't see through my own grief. Now, I could spare us both. And I could finally do the one thing I never could when we were together. Set her free.
Once again, I stood in front of the Stark manor. The shadow of my past self directly in front of me.
"Don't go in," I whispered into my ear. "Please don't go in. Please!" I begged. It seemed, for a moment, that my past self could hear me. It took seconds longer for me to ring the doorbell than it had the first time around, but ring the doorbell I did. Almost as if I had confused the hesitation with what I had already been facing the first time around. I had never been anywhere so high class before.
The door opened, and it was the youngest member of the Stark family I met first. Rickon was so small then, just a ball of curly red hair.
He welcomed me in silently, and it wasn’t until later that I learned how out of character that had been for him. It was funny, all the little ways grief changed you.
The house was filled with people, despite a clear sign pointing people to the godswood, which lay beyond a grand door at the end of the hall.
As soon as I opened the door, there she was, and my heart fell into my stomach. It was time.

lavender kiss | m | gendrya
from this drabble challenge
After losing a bet, Gendry and Arya have to attend a Halloween party as a slutty doctor and slutty nurse. Only Gendry can't quite take his eyes off Arya once she reveals her outfit.
When it comes down to things, Gendry’s not usually quite on board or understanding of certain parties. He doesn’t understand why anyone would shotgun a beer can instead of drinking it like a normal person.
He doesn’t understand why anyone would smoke menthols & switches when regular tobacco is perfectly fine.
He particularly doesn’t understand why Halloween is such a big deal to university students. Yet there he is, allowing himself to be dressed up in a doctor’s outfit.
He fusses with the stethoscope around his neck and waits for her to get ready. At least she’s there with him to look just as ridiculous.
The Riverlands had just started to grow colder. Autumn was a solid season, none of the sweltering heat of summer and pesky bugs of spring, and none of the mornings with ice on his windshield like winter.
Autumn suited him well. This, not quite so much.
He lowers his eyes, taking in his reflection. The white coat he wears fits terribly, scrunching at his upper arms where the polyester tries to stretch too tightly. Inside he wears a shirt with a tie and brown slacks.
As stupid as he looks, he does not fit the criteria of what he was asked to.
It’s ‘slutty doctor’ and ‘slutty nurse’, remember to show some of that chest hair, Gen.
He sighs and gets himself a drink of water, knowing that he’ll thankfully have the numbing haze of alcohol later in the night.
Gendry checks his watch and waits on her. It’s a small party, just a few of their friends, all of which will likely get on his back for being late, though it’s always her fault if they arrived late.
After they lost their bet with Lommy and Hot Pie, Gendry had not taken it so seriously. Arya however was never a very good loser, she taunted the pair of them over the lost game, landing them where they were now.
He guesses there’s no true difference, if they had won, he would still have to wear some absurd outfit or the other.
Gendry’s head lifts up when he hears his bedroom door open. She walks into his living room with loud yet graceful heeled steps.
His mouth goes dry and he takes another sip of his water. Gods, there was no way.
“Gods, I fucking hate Lommy,” she curses at her reflection.
Sure he hates Lommy too, but looking at her right then and there, he feels his loathing trickle away ever so slightly.
He joins her in the living room, sure that his shock is blatant by the expression on his face.
“Well?”
Her tone is rough and displeased. He doesn’t take it personally at all.
He swallows tightly and watches her twirl. He must be hallucinating on some level. The tea from earlier was one of her brother’s weird concoctions, he’s sure of it.
“The skirt–”
“The skirt is supposed to be this short,” Arya interrupts him quickly enough. “Apparently women taller than 5’5 don’t exist.”
The frown on her face is exaggerated by her thick, dark brows. They make her glistening grey eyes look colder than they are.
She turns to check the skirt from the back in the mirror. It looks layered, making it appear puffy like the ball gowns he’s seen on tv. It’s tacky yet exquisite.
Arya finally meets his eyes and her frown dissipates. “Gods, you look constipated,” she mocks. Her heels click as she approaches him and he feels himself grow redder.
“Just feeling hot in the tie,” he lies.
“It’s supposed to be slutty doctor, remember,” he curses her for bringing it up. This close, she’s able to loosen his tie and unbutton his shirt. This close he can smell her and the floral scent she’s wearing. “See, now that’s better. If I have my whole arse out, you should be able to show some cleavage.” She jokes.
It’s impossible not to stare at her arse when she mentions it. Gendry scolds himself internally for being so vile to his best friend.
“Gendry!”
He realises she’s caught him and his eyes shoot up to hers. Arya’s completely forgotten her grievances and an amused expression crosses her face.
“Yeah?” Shame reddens his cheeks further and he rubs the back of his neck as she walks over to him.
She has a knowing grin on her face as she gets closer, making his chest grow tight.
“You’re checking me out,” Arya accuses him.
Gendry can’t help but smile and give a small laugh. “Arya, your arse is out, I can’t help it,” he defends himself.
“Is that how you speak about women?” She taunts him.
“I wouldn’t care to look at any other woman’s arse.”
It slips out stupidly but she hears it.
She’s closer than she was before. And even if she’s in platforms, she’s still a head shorter than he is.
They’ve never spoken about crossing the line in their years of friendship, despite the comments they get so often from friends and family. It would be catastrophic, he tells himself.
But it’s not like he hasn’t thought about it… almost every time he’s with her. And every time he’s not.
“Arya?” He asks as she gazes up at him with a smile.
Gendry hesitates. Neither of them has had anything to drink yet, this would be them acting with sober, rational minds.
How bad could it really be? He asks himself.
“Gods, you’re teasing,” Gendry tells her with a joking gasp. He makes up his mind and pulls her by her waist. “What are you waiting for, Arya?” He asks her with his lips only an inch away from hers.
He sees the excitement tint her eyes, growing darker than he’s ever seen.
Arya kisses him first. He’s more than ready when she does so. He groans on her lips and holds her tighter.
Gendry’s hand goes down to squeeze a handful. He doesn’t care if he’s moving fast. It’s perfect and smooth, even over the fishnets she wears.
She pulls away to kiss his neck and he drops his head back. His head swims with grief, lust-fuelled, delicious grief.
“Are we really doing this, Arya?”
He meets her eyes as he asks the question. If she says no, he would take his hands off her in a heartbeat. But the tug in his heart and the evidence straining in his slacks hope she doesn’t.
“Can we afford to be late?”
Gendry doesn’t even bother to check his watch. “Fuck if I care,” he answers swiftly at her assent. He takes her into his arms once again, this time lifting her off the wooden floors and depositing her onto his sofa.
He lets his eyes wander her body. He stills at her face, taking in the sweet smile on her lips. Her hair is in a tight ponytail at the crown of her head behind ridiculous costume details.
Gendry gets to his feet, staring down at her and getting rid of his coat. “As hot as you look in all this, I need it all off,” Gendry tells her as his fingers undo his buttons.
Arya bites her lip with a smile and gives him a nod. “Take them off me,” she demands instead.
He takes a deep breath in and throws his shirt to the side. He gives her a wide smile and joins her on the sofa once again, taking her in his arms and kissing her with no remorse.

chapter 27: high as hope (e) (ao3)
“Have you guys even talked since you left?”
“No.”
“Maybe you should.”
There's a part of Arya that wants to tell her sister to mind her own business, but it wouldn’t exactly be fair.
For so long, her relationship with Jon was the one she never had to think about, never had to wonder about and it’s even more apparent now than ever how much she’d taken it for granted.
Maybe they both have.

I'll Be Home For Christmas🎄~Gendrya Fic
Rated M / Chapter 1 of 2 / AO3 Link Here
Summary: It's that time of the year again but Arya doesn't know if she will be home for Christmas especially since it's been a year since the loss of her father. With Gendry's support and encouragement from others she finally makes the choice she has been dreading for some time...Ahh sry for the summary but basically this is a two-chapter story with Gendrya, Christmas, Dreams, and Winterfell ❄️
************************************************************************
It was another rainy afternoon in the town of Storm’s End. Arya Stark was looking out the open window at the backyard where the large and overgrown oak tree was. There was an outpour of rain showering the tree, garden, and veggie patch Gendry Baratheon, her boyfriend, insisted on maintaining. Arya smelled the clean air and felt relaxed even though she was still on the phone with her sister, Sansa. Her phone was still in her ear as she heard her sister talk about a promotion received from her job.
“That’s wonderful, Sansa. Congratulations,” Arya said genuinely before drinking the last sip of her tea. She placed the cup back on her desk, closed her laptop, and walked out of her study.
Sansa paused before she asked the inevitable. “So, you’re really not going to be here tomorrow, on Christmas Eve?”
Arya sighed and pressed for the call to be on speaker phone as she walked into the main bedroom. She fell back on the bed and looked up at the ceiling fan. “No, I’m not,” she finally said.
“Mom is going to expect you here.”
Arya scoffed. “She won’t care.”
“You think she won’t, but she will. It’s Christmas—A time for us to all be together, especially now. We haven’t seen you since the beginning of the year.”
Arya turned to her side and looked at her phone. She paused before she said, “I’ll be working, anyway.” She rolled her eyes and instantly regretted the lie.
Sansa sighed. “You’re always working.”
“I need to earn a living.”
“I understand, but you need a break to be with your family and friends. I’m surprised Gendry ever sees you—” She stopped immediately.
Arya sighed but didn’t say anything.
“I’m sorry,” her sister whispered. “I didn’t mean it.”
“You sure?” Arya asked.
“Yes,” Sansa said. There was a pause before she said, “We all lost father, Arya. We’re still grieving.” Sansa sighed before she said, “We should be together, especially since tomorrow will be one year since father passed. I just can’t—”
“Look, I...” Arya felt something in her throat as if she couldn’t say anything else.
“Arya? Are you still there?”
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before she said, “I’m here.”
“Arya, nothing is your fault. Nothing. Don’t hold on to that guilt I know you’re holding on to.”
Arya opened her eyes and felt a second she couldn’t breathe. “Stop,” she whispered.
It was as if Sansa didn’t hear her as she said, “You took the red-eye flight from Braavos, and you were exhausted when you arrived at your hotel room. It’s not your fault, Arya. It’s not.”
“Dad wanted to see m,e and I wasn’t there when he needed me.”
There was a pause before Sansa whispered, “I know.”
“Dad had a heart attack, and I fucking wasn’t there. I—” Arya stopped herself as she felt the start of tears stream down her cheeks. “Sod it,” Arya whispered, using the back of her hand to wipe the tears away. She could faintly hear her sister’s cries.
“It was devastating what happened to father, but I know he would want all of us together. Remember what he used to say--What his father would tell him?... When the snow falls and the white winds blow, the...lone wolf dies—” Sansa stopped as the tears came again.
Arya heard her sister’s cries and it panged her heart. She finished the well-known saying. “...But the pack survives.” Arya closed her eyes and covered her mouth with her hand. The tears she stubbornly fought came down again. Just then, she heard Gendry’s car park in their driveway. “Sansa, I have to go.”
“Please think about it more and let me know tomorrow morning, okay?”
“Fine,” Arya agreed and hung up the phone. She heard herself sniffle as she sat up in bed. The kitchen door opened and closed. She wiped any remaining tears from her cheeks before walking to the kitchen.
Gendry’s back was to Arya as he unpacked takeout containers from a plastic bag. As he turned around, he said, “Hey love, I brought takeout from Hot Pies. I hope that’s—Arya, what’s wrong?” He asked with a concerned expression. He walked a few feet to Arya and gently removed a tear from the corner of her eye with his thumb.
Arya tried to give him a half-smile. “I didn’t remove all the tears then, eh?” She asked lightly, almost jokingly, when she felt anything but.
Gendry gave a sad smile as he asked, “You talked to Robb or Jon?”
“Sansa.”
“Ah.” With his index finger, he moved a lock of her hair behind her ear. He leaned his forehead to touch hers. “You okay?”
Arya always felt touched by Gendry’s gentleness. She leaned into his touch. “I miss him,” she whispered. “So much.” She closed her eyes and pressed her cheek against his shoulder. He held her immediately in an embrace.
“I know, love,” he said with ease. He kissed the top of her head as he held her close.
Later, Arya snuggled on the couch. Her feet rested on Gendry’s lap as she ate from the takeout container. “Mmm...” She murmured as she finished the chicken pot pie.
Gendry was finishing his pie when he gently squeezed her foot and asked, “Good?”
Arya licked her lips. “Yes,” she said with a moan. She looked around their living room and felt cozy with the multi-colored Christmas lights hanging all around the room. A small tree was placed in one corner with even more colorful lights and ornaments.
Gendry trod lightly as he asked, “So, are we going to go up north tomorrow?”
Arya sighed as she placed the empty container on the coffee table in front of them. Gendry placed his container on top of hers. Arya leaned back and stretched. All she could do was shrug.
Gendry nodded. “We could stay in and have our first Christmas together,” he said. He looked around the room and half-smiled at seeing the blend of his and Arya’s things.
Arya followed his gaze, looking around the cozy den. “What?” she asked.
Gendry only shrugged one shoulder as he started to take her socks off her feet. Once he felt her warm skin, he started to massage one foot. He earned a moan from Arya, which made him grin. “I don’t know—I was just thinking we’ve come a long way from just shags here and there when we started seeing each other.”
Arya looked away at the Christmas tree. She watched the glistening lights illuminate that corner of the room. The lights reminded her of Gendry in a way. In the darkest of times with her father’s death, there was some glint of light when she saw him again at her father’s funeral. That light grew bigger when they saw each other on a date, New Year’s Eve. He illuminated her life in just a short amount of time. This fast relationship should have scared her, but Arya felt the opposite. She was content at first seeing him a few times a week, but eventually, she felt she couldn’t go a day without seeing him.
She smiled, remembering the moment she told him she loved him, and he said he loved her. She turned back toward Gendry and reached for his hand, stopping his massage on her feet. “I wouldn’t want it any other way,” she said truthfully.
Gendry squeezed her hand and said, “Oh, yeah?” he teased.
Arya knew he was teasing her, but she said anyway, “When I was abroad at work, going two or three days at a time not seeing you—I knew then how much you meant to me.” She brought his hand to her lips, kissing his soft skin.
“And then you moved in here,” Gendry said.
Arya grinned like the Cheshire Cat and raised a brow. “That I did.” She moved her feet off his lap and moved so she could rest her head on his lap. She looked up at him. “Writing from home is better than I thought,” she admitted.
Gendry asked, “Do you miss it? The traveling?” He asked as he gently massaged the top of her head.
Arya closed her eyes, enjoying the massage. She loved what his hand was doing. She then opened her eyes and stared into Gendry’s stare. “I thought I would, but seeing you every morning and night is worth it.”
“I’m worth it,” Gendry said with a wink.
“Yes, now shut up and kiss me.”
“As my lady commands,” he said as he helped to pull her up.
She turned to sit on his lap, gently grabbing the back of his head to meet her lips. Her warm breath hit his lips as she whispered, “Shut it.” She met his lips with hers, moaning as Gendry securely held on to her legs as he got up, walking them to their bedroom.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💖
Tumblr media
AHHHH! Thank you @thereluctantbadger for sending me this one.
Hello, all!
I debated on if I should do a self fic rec since I haven't exactly been writing recently. As a bit of an update, my mental health took a nose-dive in the last few months. Finally worked up the courage to see a different doctor. Between the depression, the thyroid issues, and new medications...there have been some issue personally. Job stress (guess who is quitting their highly toxic work environment?), my friend staying at our place with her two dogs until she can move into a new apartment, family stuff, etc.
It's been A LOT.
I think this is the first time I've sat down to my laptop in months. Hate that I had to take a sudden hiatus from the community but I'm still hanging around when I get the chance. Progress is slow on my WIPs but I refuse to give up on them. It's just taking longer than I want to keep things moving along. I'll do my absolute best this summer when there aren't a million things happening at once. Until then, here are some of those oldies but (hopefully) goodies of mine. ************************************
WOLF HUNT: Rated M Multiple Chapters Incomplete
Ned Stark survived the massacre of his family in King's Landing. On the run with his daughter, he travels throughout Westeros seeking allies. Danger is never far behind, and eventually, he'll have to leave Arya behind to keep her hidden from their enemies. Arry Snow knows no life but that of a nomad. She suspects her father of lying for years, but what is the real reason for never putting down roots? Most importantly, why can't she remember anything about her childhood? Surrounded by more questions than answers, Arry is about to learn the hard way how desperate her father is to save her. Gendry Baratheon is a teenage runaway. He has the chance to make something of himself and snatches up an opportunity with a traveling troupe. Unfortunately, he gets more than he bargained for in the form of a quirky pest and a couple of oddball lost boys. But the past is never far behind, and the truth might just get them all killed.
HELLO: Rated M Multiple Chapters Incomplete What would you do for the one you love?
What would you do for your soulmate?
Gendry is gifted a magical object that shows him his heart's desire. What he doesn't expect to see is Arya Stark. The witch warned him his gift could become a curse, but he doesn’t understand the price of magic until it’s too late.
THE ART OF WAR: Rated M Multiple Chapters Incomplete Riverrun University has the best benefits next to Oldtown, and her students are actually interested in her classes. But Arya would be lying if she said her favorite thing about her job was anything except debating with the blue-eyed engineering professor about ancient weapons after her Tuesday morning seminar. And if Rickon teases her at lunch over her paper cup with "Gendry" scrolled above her go-to order from Blackfish, well, it's a good thing she's been grinning since 9 am.
BIRTHDAY BOMBSHELL: Rated E Single Chapter Complete Gendry buys Arya a handful of bath bombs not realizing one of them has an erotic toy hidden inside. She's left confused and intrigued while he's mildly panicking. Nevertheless, this mistake changes things between them.
EXOTIC MEATS: Rated T Single Chapter Complete Gendry takes Arya's package by accident, which leads to a date night.

🍂book!(mostly)gendrya fanfic rec (part one)🍂
oh boy this is a doozy, so here they are the first one to twenty, most of the summaries were written by me, so if you ask yourself why the summary is really shitty and not appealing, that's why. a high number of these fics are restricted so you'll need a ao3 account to be able to see them. any kind of triggering content i put with the corresponding warnings, same with any minor pairings featured and finally if the fic contains smut (so if that is not a thing you're interested in reading you can skip it)
➤the rabbit by aneedleofmyown - arry and gendry banter/friendship back when they were travelling with the night watch's recruits
➤out of the dark by schwoozie - arry and gendry share a bedroll/cloak on their way north as night watch's recruits
➤my forest lass by theviolentdelight - smut - before the battle against the others arya visits gendry's tent - future au
➤cold by callioope - arya returns to the inn at the crossroads, gendry does not recognize her - future au
➤lay me down by elenei - smut - gendry sees arya wearing a dress once again and pretty much my featherbed starts playing - future au
➤the tilt by acornsandravens - smut - jon arryn sends gendry to the vale and he end up as a knight during the bolton and frey rebellion. arya and gendry meet at a tourney with good old stubborn arya and good old stubborn gendry - canon divergence - arranged marriage - minor bran/meera
➤cloaked by acornsandravens - smut - five times arya and gendry share a cloak and one time they share a cloak with someone else - future au
➤sapling by elephant_eyelash - arry, gendry and hotpie friendship, arry teaches gendry and hotpie about nature
➤conversations with dead people by prettyy_vacant - gendry sees dead people when he's at the crossroads, i know it sounds like a modern au, but it's not - future au
➤forest love by elenei - arya is confused and scared about her feelings for gendry cue godswood love confessions - future au - really minor daenerys/jon - (fic has talks about gendry and lordship)
➤wild forest lass by persuade_me - arya is never found after the fight with joffrey at the trident, she and nymeria have been surviving alone for years until she is found by the inn's blacksmith where she was trying to get produce - canon divergence
➤ser gendry of the hollow hill by vanillamostly - gendry's pov during and after the red wedding do i need to say anything more
➤caught a long wind by macneiceisms - domestic gendrya, arya and gendry arguing about their family sigil - future au
➤warmth by madaboutasoiaf - arya and gendry friendship during the bwb days and the end of said friendship a little bit angsty
➤dream by madaboutasoiaf - gendrya reunion, a really heartfelt one - future au
➤the first one by aliceinwonderunderground - lovely gendrya reunion - future au
➤there us no word for bull in old valyrian by bluethunder - i know that this fic has lord of storm's end gendry, but most importanly has past cat of the canals x young griff, a rare pair that i found actually fun, so this is aegon meeting arya again and trying to woo her and arya is having none of that also it has dany as a interpreter and a reversal in the targaryen-stark-baratheon debacle of old time - future au
➤the green eyed monster by joyblue - going to copy the fic summary because it's perfect, times the green eyed monster visited catelyn, ned, jon, sansa and gendry all because of arya. it has gendry being legitimized by stannis, but he doesn't get storm's end - canon divergence
➤fair gendry & ser arya the gallant by macneiceisms - smut - forge sex with first times and love confessions other than arya saying that sansa would understand her wanting to be with gendry and not be betrothed to some lord (we know sansa would not) is pretty much perfect - fluffy fluff - future au
➤don't go without me by like_a_dove - gendrya childhood friends in winterfell, basically gendry is hidden in winterfell and you know how it goes with this couple - friend to lovers, but arya is betrothed to lord edric dayne of starfall and their time together is coming to an end - canon divergence

I'm officially writing my first fanfic! And of course it's a gendrya modern AU. This is something I've always wanted to do -- I've spent so long enjoying fanfic from the sidelines. I'm feeling nervous though lol

the state of asoiaf/got/hotd ao3 is ludicrous. mfw when i have to sort through shiera seastar/uzumaki naruto + harry potter/khal drogo fics to find good catned smut
we need some way to like Berlin wall certain genres of asoiaf fiction. there needs to be a quarantine for chick flick robbaery/sansan/gendrya etc stuff thats just like What if hot people in a hallmark romcom had stupid names. and of course we need a containment zone for the plot-heavy what-ifs/self inserts/twow attempts that never get finished. the last asoiaf fic i remember reading was a fun cat x dany modern au lez smutfic like a year ago. where are the simple humble catned smut fics? where are the simple humble gendrya genfics? i am tired and weary of lucemond and jonerys. Give me something for the pain and let me die.

The Last Time: Ch. 26 is up!
Tumblr media
chapter 26: death of a bachelor (e) ao3
In the days since, there’d been a bit of a thaw but Gendry knows he’s going to have to talk to his sister, really talk to her. Because even one look at Arya now - and he knows that this is it. This is the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with.
Regardless of how Bella feels.
Catch up here. 😘✌🏻
