if the world had protected itself half as much against the spreading of Corona as tumblr apparently protects itself against the spreading of posts via reblogs then summer 2020 would just be a vage memory of some beach vacation

You know when I said I was feeling ropey the other day? Well, it turns out I picked up an unwanted souvenir in Hamburg - I finally got COVID.
When I first felt ropey on my penultimate day in Germany, I took a test before heading into work which was negative. After I flew home I was up the very next morning to travel to Ascot (no rest for the wicked), and during this time my level of ropiness did not lessen, so I resolved to take another test if I still felt like crap in the morning. I did, and that's when I got a positive result.
I informed the powers that be, who dealt with finding my replacement, whilst I dealt with finding my way home. My only realistic option was Uber, but I rang the helpline first to ensure that I was well within my rights to use one. Once given the green light, it took three attempts to get a driver who was happy to take me - I felt it best to inform them before they arrived. - but I soon made it back to sanctuary.
I felt a bit bad thinking of all the ways I may have spread COVID in the last few days, but I acted responsibly enough - perhaps I could have tested myself again a bit sooner, but I told everyone I'd been in close contact with, and took whatever measures I could until I was safely home.
I used the minimum amount of energy to pull out my sofabed and then order an online grocery delivery (as the cupboards were bare and I had a voucher), before doing nothing else for the rest of the day. Thankfully, after a full night's sleep back in my own bed, I started to turn the corner, and I've steadily been feeling better each subsequent day. I still have to observe a minimum of five days away from society, which sadly means I will be unable to attend Glorious Goodwood this week - sorry, did I say sadly? I meant happily - every cloud...
