And you were, you and the boys stayed on that couch stuck at each other's hip for about an hour after that conversation. That was until you saw a familiar somebody walking towards you. My convoluted theory about who owns Alastor’s soul:

Ok so this is bit long so buckle-up.

I think Alastor tried to summon Lilith as a mortal to make a deal with her (I don’t know why, maybe he thought the cops where on him or maybe he thought his mortality was getting in the way or something), but someone else popped up pretending to be Lilith (either Eve or Roo but I’m putting my money on Eve), they made a contract and the person signed it with Lilith’s name making the deal a bit of a fraud. Alastor gets some demon powers and the person wrongfully has Al’s soul. Al dies, works for ‘them’ for a bit, finds out about ‘their’ plan to cause a war to destroy both heaven and hell, realizes the truth, goes to Lilith and tells her everything. Lilith, “The Chain-breaker” isn’t ok with this and teams up with Al to deal with ‘Them’. She technically never gave Alastor her part of the deal so she basically goes: “I’ll give you more power and your soul, in exchange: Help me fight Eve and if something goes wrong protect my daughter.” They confront and fight Eve, Shit goes sideways, Lilith is either trapped or dead and Alastor barely escapes alive using the 7 years to recuperate. When he’s healed up, he goes to protect Charlie.

There are probably some errors with this, but so far it seems pretty good.

Fun little add-ons to the theory:

Eve (Got tired of typing “Them”) might still have Alastor’s soul but I kinda doubt it, cause she would have destroyed it by now. More likely Alastor got his soul back and the powers from Lilith but he was so beat up when he left that Eve just assumed he died.

Maybe the reason Alastor hates Lucifer is because he assumed the worst by how Lilith talked about him and why she didn’t want to include him in the mess. Alastor hearing a woman say: “No! We cannot tell him, he’ll react horribly to it.” Won’t assume it’s because the husband is a softie who’s already depressed.

Eve probably doesn’t pay attention to hell’s going ons and is still hidden somewhere. BUT if someone goes around looking for her, the reason for Al’s disappearance she’ll realize he ain’t dead. Might be the reason he doesn’t want people to be nosy.

Probably kept his promise with protecting Charlie because he liked Lilith (Once on his good side people can ask a lot from him *cough* Mimzy *cough*) and because the hotel could be a good place to hide from Eve.

The deal with Togachaco

There was a little bit of confusion about what’s going on with these two and why Toga can’t use Shiggy and Dabi’s quirks. This is what I came up with about Toga's situation.

Disclaimer: this is all only theorycraft and any or all of it could be wrong of course!

My theory here is what’s lacking is not Toga’s love for them. She admits to caring about them. But their inability to love her. They lack any real connection. The two people who we know she has used quirks of are Twice and Ochaco.

Twice is obvious. They had a pretty close relationship and Twice felt very cared for when he died and told her that. Her heart broke for him so their feelings of love were reciprocated ones that had formed a strong connection and we aren’t talking romantic love, just love in general for another person. That’s what they had.

"But Ochaco didn't love Toga." True... but she did by proxy! One of Ochaco's key cornerstones is wanting everybody to be happy and smile. I think this was brought up again this chapter because it’ll be a very important theme for Toga’s arc to circle back to later!

During MVA, Toga’s love for Ochaco was reciprocated in a way - simply by default. There’s three points we should take note of here.

1. Toga was being loved back through proxy of Ochaco’s wide compassion for all of society.

2. Toga, someone who’s life has been utterly ruined from birth by her suffering of being excluded from society, is a *VALID* PART of society and is deserving of compassion, according to Ochaco's feelings.

3. Toga’s own quirk itself acknowledges Toga as a part of Ochaco’s “people," or "everyone," or "society." Even her own quirk knows she is valid and should be included in Ochaco’s compassion for everyone. (And now she genuinely cares for her too.)

And the deal with Dabi and Shigaraki: I really do think Toga’s quirk is affected by mutual love. Dabi and Shigaraki don’t have any love left in their body. All they are capable of right now is hate. They live for their hatred. This series is stacked up with parallels that juxtapose both love and hate against each other and this is another one. Those two will set themselves on fire in the name of hate. So Toga was unable to form a meaningful love connection with them. She can’t fully become them. Her quirk is the worst match with people like them.

Another interesting thing about Toga’s love is that Froppy (Hori) refers to it in Japanese quotation marks. I think this is more commentary of Toga not understanding what love means, and it’s like saying “love” to refer to it more as Toga’s concept of love. Something she obsessively fantasises about and thinks she understands, but doesn’t really.

Izuku also said to her: "If you love me, why don't you also want to share the same heart as me?" (values, morals, and protecting instead of hurting those she loves.) And this only made her think of her sad upbringing...

Toga never received any real love while growing up to form the basis of it. Not from her parents or her peers. Her quirk affects her personality a lot and is a factor in this too. So Toga-chan doesn’t really know what True Love is and I think that’s something Ochaco is going to help show her.

If her quirk works like this then her destiny was never meant to be a villain at all, as LoV are all bound together by hate for quirk society and they don’t know what love is either, which hinders her connection with them. So the only place her character can truly shine in, is when she is being surrounded by people she loves who can also love her in return. Like the condition to lift the beast’s curse in Beauty and the Beast.

I think Toga finding out what rule is affecting her ability to truly become people will be pivotal in saving her from all this mental pain she’s grown up with. This is her burden she's been baring all alone for years, and I believe whatever it is she has going on with Ochaco, will surely put some light into her heart, maybe for the first time ever.

I just read your post about attachment styles and love it, but I'm curious about when the stuff about Mulcahy is mentioned in the series. I'm a bit obsessed with him and I really want to know when this will come up. I'm only in season six, but I've already heard spoilers galore, however I hadn't heard about this yet

Hi!! So… This ended up being a lot lot longer than I meant it to be because I just ended up rambling about some specific things and how they relate to attachment theory but I promise there’s examples and episode names and such in here so please bare with me. Also, in case you don’t read this all the way through lmao, feel free to dm me or whatever bc I am also obsessed with him if you can’t tell by my blog and I’d love to talk about this more. There’s a lot more examples of this stuff or just moments that you might enjoy that I don’t mention here so if you want more stuff or just to like chat about it feel free :))

My ramble about Father Mulcahy and his attachment issues (lmao) is below the cut!

Omg okay so a lot of this is reading between the lines/subtext type stuff. But there is some stuff that’s talked about! There an episode later on… I think it’s in season 10, called “Heroes.” Basically it’s about a fighter (I’m assuming a boxer but I don’t know for sure), who comes to visit the 4077th but he ends up having a stroke. The guy was a real asshole but Mulcahy seemed to worship him and got testy whenever anyone said anything about it, likely because later in the episode he says he only ever had two heroes in his life, that guy, and Plato. There’s a scene with Mulcahy near the end in post-op, and he’s alone with the fighter and tells him about the hero thing. He was talking about how he liked Plato’s “Ideal Plane” because his own life wasn’t ideal. He said he was small with thick glasses and was an easy target for other kids and he never even tried to fight back. But when he was… 12, I think? Something like that, he said his father dragged him to his first fight and he watched the guy who had the stroke fight another guy. By the end the other guy was really hurt and the fighter was just wailing on him, and Mulcahy said that everyone around him was telling the fighter to end it, and his dad was one of the loudest. But the fighter took a step back and told the ref to stop the fight because the other man was already hurt badly enough. Apparently that’s the first time Mulcahy realized he could defend himself without giving up his principles. Maybe by itself that doesn’t say much for attachment, but it got me thinking… He clearly was getting picked on by other kids all the time, beat up and thrown around and whatnot. I don’t remember when he says but I believe at some point he says that both his parents drank. That’s the only time I remember his talking about his father, and it’s about him loudly yelling for the guy to get this shit beat out of him. Doesn’t give a great impression, does it?

Another time was during one of the interview episodes when the reporter asks him if he wants to say hello to his family back home. Everyone else says hi to specific people, but Mulcahy just gives a half-hearted hello. The only person he corresponds with from home as far as we know is his sister Kathy. He seems very fond of her, and I have my own headcanons about their relationship and childhood and whatnot, but we know at least that he loves Kathy. But why is she the only one he ever talks to or about? Likely he doesn’t have a good relationship with his parents. And once he mentions having brothers, as he had to share a bed with them growing up, but he never talks about them either.

On that same note… Philadelphia isn’t a great area. And based on the comment about the bed and other things he’s said here and there, it seemed liked he grew up in poverty. That puts a lot of strain on someone, and especially familial relationships. There’s issues of food insecurity, lack of safety, living in likely a very small space given having to share a bed… and I’ll elaborate a bit more on this later but it seems like his parents were potentially abusive. Feeling unsafe growing up and especially like your caregivers can’t or are unwilling to protect you (or are the ones causing the harm) can affect your attachment relationships for the rest of your life.

I think it’s in season 2 or 3, there’s an episode where Henry and Mulcahy get trapped in the bombed out latrine. Maybe you remember it? They pull Mulcahy out and he’s dazed, potentially in shock, and doesn’t really know what’s going on. But he’s telling a story about himself and presumably Kathy, where she wanted to take apples from the yard or something and make apple pie because she learned how in the Girl Scouts. They made the pie and ate it before dinner or something and their mother came in and was like “what the hell is going on,” or something. He looks at Klinger (who is in a dress) and says it’s the first time he ever heard her swear. Presumably she was mad, which I mean makes sense if your kids made and ate a whole pie before dinner but he doesn’t go into much detail about it. This by itself wouldn’t have piqued my interest much, HOWEVER. This is a spoiler, but you said you don’t mind spoilers so… I’m just gunna go on with it. In the finale, Mulcahy loses his hearing. In AfterMASH (yes, I know a lot of people don’t consider it canon but it’s Mulcahy gold for me okay so hear me out), he turns to alcohol to cope with basically having nowhere to go and no job, and Kathy calls Potter to help him because he’s depressed, an alcoholic, etc etc. Potter got him in for a surgery to restore his hearing (I’m a bit salty about how this happened and all but it’s the next part that’s relavant). After the surgery, when he’s all loopy from anesthesia, there’s an inner monologue about his parents and some other things. He’s apologizing to his parents for something, I don’t remember what, and then wonders if someone (a she, but I can’t figure out who he’s talking about) hit him because of the drinking. But the past and present seem all mottled… I can’t really make sense of a lot of it. There’s something in there about someone being so angry when the bomb went off and he went deaf and he’s apologizing to his parents for going deaf (well actually he says he hopes they aren’t angry, he wasn’t supposed to be on the back of a street car but why are there bombs on streetcars anyway). It was a whole thing. But it just made me think like that’s twice now that the first thing he thought of when he was loopy af was his parents being angry… and that just doesn’t sit right with me. Maybe it’s the psych major in me but it doesn’t… it feels off.

Long story short… he’s got some sort of insecure attachment. There’s the main theory of attachment by Bowlby and Ainsworth, but there’s also so many bits that build off of this, such as splitting avoidant attachment into fearful and dismissing, all of which is based on interpersonal models and the scales of view of self and view of other, etc etc. I don’t know exactly which category he’d fit into because some of his hesitancy/not getting close to people is because of his job, right? But I definitely think it’s not all that.

You don’t often see him reach out for help. Securely attached people reach out for help when they need it and seek proximity to attachment figures when distressed/ill/etc, even in adulthood. Mulcahy doesn’t do that, except to Kathy. The odd time he’s told Potter he feels useless and there’s a whole plot line about that (Dear Sis is the episode, it’s my fav episode of the series, in season 10), and he doesn’t feel like he’s any good for anything if he’s not needed or helping others. That could come from needing to please people (like his parents) to avoid being punished or because he had to help raise his siblings bc his parents were absent/neglectful/abusive/etc. Again we don’t know much about his family, but the snippets you get here and there aren’t great. Anyway my point here was that Mulcahy typically only seeks advice/comfort from very select people (Kathy, Hawkeye) and always seeks to please. Always. He’s also always looking for some sort of validation, likely because he has a negative self-view and anxious attachment and needs that confirmation that he’s doing okay and is actually useful.

I… I have so much to say about him. And his attachment issues. I created a mash oc that initially was supposed to be his best friend and as I was going along with it I was like “oh my god he’s so insecure in his attachment” and just like…he’s always the one taking care of others but never lets anyone help him (ex. The hepatitis episode). And again some of that is his vocation… but what drew him to that vocation in the first place?

No matter what attachment style you have or who you are or what your job is, humans need attachment figures in their lives. Some people deny it, some people are scared to be vulnerable, but whether they realize it or not attachment figures and the attachment network are necessary to be healthy. That’s why the attachment system exists in the first place, to provide us with a feeling of safety and security.

I could literally ramble about this for forever. I have notes actually from class today that made me think about this even more so I could probably make this a bit more coherent if I looked at them… maybe I’ll do that another time. Idk.

Hazbin Hotel theory under the cut, feel free to ignore.

So we know Viv said one of the “main 6” is going to die, and I want to talk about who I think it is and isn’t going to be and why. Also where I think the next season is going.

Charlie - No. She’s our main character and the whole plot revolves around her. In episode 1 they also said that hell born were immune to the extermination because Lucifer rigged it that way. I do think Adam/Lute would ignore that clause because they hate Charlie so much, but again, main character.

Vaggie - Probably not. We just learned that she’s an angel, which theoretically makes her exempt for extermination as well. I would also assume, though we have no outright proof from the show itself, that angels can’t be killed by other angels. The only reason I could see it being her is that she sacrifices herself for Charlie, but it feels unlikely to me.

Alastor - No. He’s the most well known character from the show, even when I had no interest in Hazbin Hotel I still knew him on sight. It would be really stupid to kill him off so early in the show when we’ve barely explored his story and he hasn’t gone through any kind of arc yet. Also his beef with Vox has been pretty built up and I doubt it’s going to be resolved in the next 2 episodes. There’s also the question of who has him on a leash and that he’s been gone for 7 years, just like Lilith.

Angel - Probably not. Another well known and liked character, with 2 massive songs in episode 4. We haven’t seen him escape Val and heal from that yet. It would really cut the effectiveness of the Vs getting taken out in the plot. He was also the one used as the example in heaven, showing that sinners can change.

Husker - Maybe. Personally, I’m going to be big fucking mad if it is Husker, but I could see it being possible. He’s not as integral to the plot as everyone above, and mostly serves as a lackey for Alastor. I’m just a HuskerDuster shipper now and I want these 2 to be happy OKAY????

The sixth position is what’s really up for debate here, because we have 2 possible options. it could either be Nifty or Sir Pentious, I’m going to give my reasoning for both.

Nifty - Possibly. Nifty doesn’t have a ton of plot relevance, even if I think she’s fun. I put here on the same level as the cat or Razzle and Dazzle almost, background fluff to make the world seem more alive. I’ve seen people saying that Nifty is a physical manifestation of the hotel, in which case it might make sense for it to be her and the loss of their home base in the next extermination. It gives the right amount of upping the stakes for season 2.

Sir Pentious - Most Likely. I like Sir P, he’s goofy and ya know, voiced by My Boy but I think he’s the most likely to die. He’s only at the hotel because he was blackmailed into going in the first place and if he left would be killed by the Vs. He’s just hanging around, not doing much but is very prominently featured in the promo art and generally heavily advertised, but has not so far had a Major Song. The only thing we got from him is Starts With Sorry which is my lowest ranked song so far.

But there’s a whole separate reason I think it’s gong to be the Snake Boy. Alex Brightman voices both him and Adam and I think Adam is about to fall/get betrayed by heaven.

Hear me out on this one. Adam isn’t an angel, he’s described as “the first human soul in heaven” and people are categorized into either “sinners” (hell) or “winners” (heaven) when they die. But does he look like any of the other winners we saw? With his dark color palette, sharp teeth and horns? Not one bit, he looks more like the demons he hates so much. The only other characters of heaven origin that look like him are Lute, Vaggie and presumably other exterminators. Which were very possibly created to look a lot like him, if the fact that he named Vaggie is anything to go off of.

In the court scenes we find out that Adam came up with the whole extermination plan and it is not known throughout heaven that it happens at all. But Adam has now let that cat out of the bag and the others didn’t seem to be happy with the whole situation. I think the other angels are going to go to Sara and make her put an end to extermination, and Sara is going to banish Adam (and possibly Lute) to hell for everything they’ve done.

This goes into my season 2 and later predictions, where Adam and Charlie team up to take down heaven and equalize the system for everyone. Adam is a vindictive douche and would do anything to get payback, and though he hates Charlie will be happy to use her for his own ends. And I think there’d be a lot of comedic gold in having Charlie, Vaggie, Adam and Lute stuck together. And that’s not even talking about Adam and Lilith being forced neck into the same room together when she gets back into the picture.

After this I think there’s several places it could go, like a double backstab on Adam’s part by using the uprising he helped to create as proof that he was right all along and the exterminations were necessary. Or possibly them winning and breaking the cycle for all. I think the second option would tie into the themes of determination, forgiveness, redemption and found family that the show appears to be aiming for.

But that’s all up to Viv and Amazon.

okay now that we’re on hiatus let’s talk about the parallels between the season one mag crew (and beyond) and the season one magp crew

If we take out Lena and Collin (and we’ll get back to them, I swear), we’ve got a gender flipped one for one version of the original Archive crew. I’ve seen a lot of comparisons between Sam and Jon, and also Collin and Jon, but I don’t think either of these are necessarily meant to be narrative parallels.

Let’s remember what the Archives crew was like in season one. Setting aside everything they become, everything that happens to them, remember what they were like at the beginning.

Jon was trying to seem as professional and official as possible. No one (save for Martin) actually looked at him as the boss of the situation, but he really wanted to be. He was trying to project confidence and control, tied to the Institute for an unclear purpose. Season one Jon wasn’t paranoid, wasn’t focused on the greater mystery, but wanted to be very good at his job. It was only at the end of the season that he started to realize that the job he wanted to succeed at wasn’t what he thought at all. That’s the position we left /Gwen/ in over the hiatus. I think that Gwen is meant to be the Jon stand-in, as much as any of them are supposed to be stand-ins for the old crew, and I think we can probably follow a lot of his character growth to make theories tied to where Gwen will end up: pursuing the power until it changes her irrevocably.

My biggest stretch out of the four is tying Celia to Martin, but hear me out. We don’t know much about either of them in the first season, and we still don’t know a lot about Celia. But the little we’ve seen shows that she’s a relatively sweet person, generally rolling with the horrors, and knows more than she lets on. We know that Martin had the potential to belong to the Web, but ended up towards the Lonely instead. I think we’ll see kind of what we could have had with Web!Martin.

Then, of course, we’re down to Sam and Alice. I’ve predicted that they would be our Tim and Sasha since the first episode, but it honestly hurts how much they’re living up to it. Sam, ignoring logic and reason to pursue the greater mystery like how Sasha followed Michael, how Sasha approached the thing in Artifact storage. Alice, who knows more than she lets on, barely hiding her anger and hurt under flirty jokes and jabs at her friends, and so close to her brother. The way that Tim loved Sasha, really loved Sasha, but she didn’t love him in the same way, the way that Sasha changed and Tim didn’t notice until it was too late, the way that Sam has changed and Alice hadn’t noticed until Sam had already left her behind.

Finally getting back to the two I put aside, it’s easy to draw comparisons to Lena and Elias, but they’re also very different. Sure, they’re both creepy bosses with secret power, but I don’t think people acknowledge how… incompetent Lena is? Sure she’s creepy, and vague, and everything she says feels like a thinly veiled threat, but she also is easily blackmailed by Gwen, and failed to kill the only person we’ve heard her attempt to kill. (And yet, Elias made a copy of the tunnel key for Jon, pretended not to believe the worms to suit his own needs. Is it a long con? Or is Lena like the fears, something familiar and yet undefined?)

Now, here’s my biggest thing. A lot of people have compared Colin to Season 2 Jon, but again, I think they’re forgetting what it was like to hear Season 2 for the first time. Jon didn’t know what was going on. He was lost, scared, and confused. He’d started to figure out the evil was real but his hatred was misplaced. Colin recognizes there’s a mystery, and he also seems to have a firmer grasp on the source of the issues. He’s not paranoid, per se, because he’s /right/. The computers are listening, and there probably is something more going on. He’s angry, and scared, but not because he doesn’t know the threat. He’s angry and scared because he does know what’s causing this, but he’s alone in it. His anger and exhaustion are driven by a need for this all to be over, one way or another. He seems to know that there is something evil here, and he doesn’t want to be a part of it. He wants to end it. Collin isn’t Jon. Collin is Melanie.

Now, do I think all of these characters are meant to be foils? No. Do I think we’re supposed to make predictions based on the past? Not really. But I think the parallels are where it’s really going to hit hard in the future

Xavier: Renegade Angel #20: “Braingea’s Final Cranny” | April 17, 2009 - 12:15AM | S02E10

The final episode of Xavier is here and boy, what a show. I don’t think I ever watched this one, either, so I can’t pad this out with barely-relevant tangents about how I was working on a commercial fishing boat at the time of it’s airing or whatever it was I was doing. I miss the sea. 

Xavier yearns for his mother so hard that he cries for 9 months, creating a fertile beach with it’s own ocean (ah, there she is! How I’ve missed her so!). Xavier inadvertently harms a young man with his first job, dressing like a dolphin and handing out free samples or some shit. Xavier mistakes him for the real thing and tosses him into the ocean. He gets out alive, but then Xavier mistakes his scuffed up Dolphin dress as a carcass, and forces him to eat it in front of him, an ethical thing to do if you kill a living creature. Later, when he finds the guy trying to commit suicide he orders him to eat himself. 

That guy winds up getting taken to an asylum, and Xavier sneaks in with him, believing his mother is there. He then has to “pretend” to be insane. He is psychoanalyzed using a Rorschach test, which anthropomorphizes into a guy that talks to Xavier and explains that he can take any form Xavier wants. The inkblot can’t take Xavier and eventually materializes on the psychiatrist’s couch, and is committed. 

Later, Xavier finally finds his mother in the lobotomy room. He digs through a pile of brain and finds the missing chunk from her head and crams it back into her head. When she comes back to full sentience, she tells Xavier that she faked her death to get away from him, and that she doesn’t want to see him ever again. She ensures this happens by gouging her own eyes out.

Xavier meets Nurse Escher and you KNOW they gonna bone. They bone, then the psychiatrist reveals that the nurse is Xavier’s real mother, and he was trying to prove a scientific theory that lobotomies remove oedipal taboo from the brain.

The inkblot comes back and runs off with Xavier’s mother, taking them back to the beach. Xavier travels to the beach by jamming together all the lobotomy pieces into one big brain, which sorta functions like a hot air balloon. He gets the blot to turn into an ice cream cone and consumes it. 9 months later, he, his mom, and his fake mom all give a tandem birth to Xavier’s incest baby, which becomes that weird symbol that’s in every episode. We pull out of the symbol on a Rorschach test being administered to Xavier back in the psychiatrist’s office. There, Xavier finds out that he’s beautiful by looking into a hand mirror and seeing a conventionally handsome man looking back at him. The psychiatrist now looks like Xavier. THE END? 

This one is ultimately sort of a middling episode, but it has some great laughs. The run where Xavier is trying different brain chunks on his supposed lobotomized mother had three great gags in a row. I assume I laughed at them, because I wrote them down, and that’s usually the reason I write specific jokes down. When he shoves in a piece, his mother begins talking in the voice of whatever brain it actually is. He tries a young man’s voice who is confessing to his father that he forgot all of his pizza knowledge. “Dumb (DISGUSTING AND OFFENSIVE anti-Italian slur) coulda used a Goombotomy.” Then he tries one where the voice is a sports announcer calling the winner of some game. “Damn it, I had money on that game.” The next one causes chicken noises to come out of his mother. “Oh, chicken, Yum!” Xavier says before chomping the brain bit. That said, I think I prefer Damnesia Me, meaning You, as my head-canon finale. 

Okay, I usually like to do a top ten (in chronological order) of each show when they end. This one was tough for me, but I tried. I bet if I went through the show again I’d come up with a slightly different list. HERE IT IS:

HSR Theories pt. 1

This post is more for me than anything else.

Because I need to write these down so I can keep track of my current theories.

I'm SUPER into HSR theory crafting and lore.

So if you are also into that, then have a peek at this, I suppose. Fair warning- It's going to be a bit all over the place.

I'll be adding stuff later, because I don't have the energy to right now.

Theories under the cut for spoilers. Like- MAJOR spoilers.

Blade, Dan Heng, and Jing Yuan

So these are theories I've had for weeks, now. And I was correct about Blade being immortal and seeking his own end, so that's already a win.

From what I understand, Blade, Dan Heng, Jing Yuan, and Jingliu are four of the five members of the High-Cloud Quintet.

All four of them wear a red ribbon. Likely to symbolize the bond they once shared. Jing Yuan's is in his hair. Dan Heng's is on his spear, Cloud Piercer. Jingliu and Blade's are on the back of their clothes. I wonder if those two share the spot they put their ribbons for a reason...

It's somewhat sad, because just like in Jing Yuan's voiceline "About Self" he and the rest of the High-Cloud Quintet all walk very different paths now. "My past enemies are either dead or captured, and my past friends are scattered to the winds..." Jing Yuan is an Arbiter-General of the Xianzhou Alliance who must uphold his duty, Blade is a Stellaron Hunter who is wanted dead or alive by the IPC, and Dan Heng is running from a past he doesn’t remember as a Nameless of the Astral Express. Jingliu is... well? She's alive, as we've seen in Yanqing's companion mission. But we aren't really sure what she's been doing all this time or how she's alive. Just that she's looking for the man who now calls himself "Blade".

I'm almost certain that the three people that Blade talks about is Jingliu, Dan Heng, and himself. Jing Yuan is not one of the choices since Blade has already said himself that "you are not one of them, Jing Yuan." Since Blade, Jing Yuan, Jingliu, Dan Heng, and one other person are all part of the High-Cloud Quintet... Of five people, three must pay the price. The Quintet is a group of five people who were all connected.... quintet, literally meaning five.... It makes a lil too much sense to me... And since Blade is seeking his own end, it makes it more of a possibility.

Also- About five star Dan Heng/Vidyadhara Dan Heng... We already know he's Imbibitor Lunae. Now about the sedition of Imbibitor Lunae. I'm almost certain that Blade's immortality has something to do with Dan Heng.

I think that's why Dan Heng was banished from the Xianzhou Alliance. Something to do with breaking a law among the Vidyadhara that has to do with the mara struck, perhaps. Because in the 1.2 livestream, they confirmed that Blade has mara in him and that it flares up and Kafka is able to use her ability to keep it at bay.

Remember that one of the quest NPCs we see a lot for Luofu quests said that the Vidyadhara have different rules than them. But Imbibitor Lunae was the High Elder of the Vidyadhara and the Luofu. But laws and whatnot with the mara struck have to have worse consequences...

I also think that Dan Heng had a cycle of rebirth (or whatever the Vidyadhara call it) while imprisoned before being sent away. Based on some of the things he's said in the story AND based on Dan Heng's voice line "About Self: Past". "I come from an alliance, and was born on a gran and beautiful ship that I barely had the chance to see... I can never return."

AND in the new version trailer, we hear Jing Yuan ask, probably Dan Heng, "Has coming here triggered your memory?"

We already know that with the Vidyadhara, when they have a cycle of rebirth and return to being an egg to hatch into their new self... They no longer have the memories of the previous cycle.

"The power to turn into dragons was a rare inheritance passed down only to those who could successfully complete numerous rites. A long-lived species, Vidyadhara molt after living for centuries, repairing their bodies then hatching anew from eggs with their memories wiped. They are unable to have offspring."

Only certain Vidyadhara will have the appearance of a dragon with the horns and tail, according to what Dan Heng himself said. And they would have the chance to be the Vidyadhara High Elder, from what I remember.

For the Vidyadhara, each cycle of rebirth might as well be an entirely new life.

While they are the same person at their core, all of the memories that shaped them have been erased.

Like a slate wiped clean.

We already know he no longer has any memory of his past as Imbibitor Lunae. But I think that with Dan Heng once again obtaining his old Vidyadhara form, he'll be getting back his memories. It seemed like it in the leaks and based on what we saw in the version trailer.

That's all I can remember theorizing, but I'm sure I wrote down more elsewhere. So I'll edit this later if I remember more of what I'd thought about.

You know how I said that I think Dan Heng has something to do with Blade becoming immortal and it's likely also the reason he was banished from the Xianzhou Alliance? Maybe those things have something to do with the fact that the Vidyadhara are known as Long's Scions. As in Long, the Aeon of Permanence. And Dan Heng was the High Elder of the Luofu and the Vidyadhara, meaning he'd passed the trials that the Vidyadhara must pass in order to have the blessings of their kind, includnig the features of a dragon. Maybe that has something to do with Blade becoming immortal? Dan Heng being a one of the strongest beings who were descended from the Aeon of Permanence?

This is gonna be kinda long and it’s mostly me rambling/venting, so feel free to ignore it.

Brother asked me to help him find any of his surviving baby pictures (a lot of our baby pictures were destroyed in an accident; most of the remaining ones are of me) and we stumbled across one of my mother’s high school and college photo albums. It’s so strange flipping through stills of her girlhood and seeing faces of people I never got to know or people I barely know in their older years but were so important to my mom in her youth. Saw pictures of her friends, cousins, aunts and uncles– all people I don’t know but people she held so close to her. Saw pictures of her in her college years when she was still chasing after her dreams of becoming a fashion designer and participated in fashion shows. There wasn’t a trace of the wrinkles or grey hairs or disillusionment that come with growing older. She was just a girl.

We found notes from her teachers and friends that told fragments of a story we’ll never know. A hand written apology from someone named Barbara. A thank you note from someone named Christine. We found browning dress patterns tucked between the album pages and pictures that never got tucked inside the plastic sleeves for display. I found envelopes with images of my mother on her graduation day to celebrate her special day that were never sent out. There were so many.

I don’t know why I’m saying all this or even posting it, but seeing a different version of my mom from who I’ve gotten so used to seeing has me feeling nostalgic for someone I never knew. She’s always been My Mom to me. I never got to know her when she was just Her. Obviously not. And I won’t ever because my mere existence means she can’t go back to being just Her. My existence can’t be separated from my mother’s. I saw someone else looking through those pictures, and I guess I feel a little guilty about killing her (metaphorically), because as soon as I stepped into the scene– even if I was just a concept, a theory, I was just a clump of cells and not a person yet– things changed for her.

It’s like survivor’s guilt, I guess. That girl from those pictures and that past locked away by time died so I could live. I’ve heard bits and pieces of what she was like when she was younger, but I’ll never know the full story. She doesn’t talk about it. I wonder if my brother felt the same way flipping through the photo album. Maybe I’m just overthinking everything. Idk. I don’t think I’ll tell my mom what we found either. If I feel this way about it, I don’t know how she’ll react if I tell her.

There is, however, a lesser known legend, that stipulates that while the former is true, two people who shared a devil fruit are forever linked. They either die together, or not at all.

“Hey… Somebody… He needs a doctor.”

Luffy’s voice barely gets out, in contrast with his usual loud tone.

There is blood everywhere, and Ace’s body is heavy on his, but it will be alright. It has to be.

Ace promised, after all. So, he would be okay. With some rest, some food, and a lot of love, he would be okay. There was no alternative.

“Luffy. Please, listen to me. It’s too late.”

Ace’s arm starts to slip on him, and he does his best to keep it in place. “No, no no no, don’t talk like that. We’re going to find you a doctor, and…”

Nobody is moving. It’s like the world has stopped, and people are looking at them in pity, and Luffy doesn’t do well with pity. He never did. He’s an active person. When he sees someone in pain, he doesn’t pity them: he acts to make things better.

Ace is probably in pain right now. He’s probably been in pain for a long time, and Luffy doesn’t know how to fix this. He needs help, he needs a doctor, and no one seems to be doing anything.

Some part of him thinks absentmindedly that if Chopper were there, he would already be working on Ace’s wound. But he’s not here, is he? Stashed away with the rest of Luffy’s crew. His crew he was supposed to protect.

Robin’s eyes will forever be engraved in his brain. He told her he would protect her, and she trusted him. He told them he would protect them, he promised. And yet…

But Ace is different. Ace is not him, and he will keep his promise. Because Ace is reckless and a bit stupid, he has a hard time controlling his feelings and he can be a bit of an asshole, but he keeps his promises.

Big brothers do that, after all.

But Ace’s arm keeps weakening on him, and all of sudden he feels cold, so cold, and he needs Ace to half hug him and tell him everything is going to be okay.

He needs the warmth of his brother’s fire, and everything is so, so cold.

“Please, I can’t…”

He can’t. He can’t do it on his own, he can’t be left alone, being alone is terrifying, it’s worse than being in pain. Because the world is big -so, so big- and that’s usually something he says with awe, but right now it seems too big, too cold to be alone in.

He knows it, he’s not stupid, or, maybe he is, a little, but he is self-aware enough to realize that he’s selfish. He’s loud and he imposes himself on people and he fights to keep them, he fights for them, but it’s not for them, not really. He’s just so, so scared of being left alone.

He will take the pain. He will take the pain a hundred times if it means not being alone.

“Of course, you can. You’re strong. You’re so strong and I’m so proud to call you my brother.”

This is not what Luffy wants to hear. He doesn’t care. He doesn’t care if Ace is proud or not. He doesn’t even care if Ace hates him, if it means he’s still here.

It’s selfish, maybe, but who cares? He’s in so much pain, and soon, he will be all alone in this world. Can’t he be a little selfish?

“My only regret,” Ace’s voice is barely above a whisper now, “is that I won’t be able to see you fulfill your dream.”

“Don’t say that,” Luffy repeats, because what more can he say? He will fulfill his dream. And then he will come back to Ace to brag. Because Ace hates being the son of the previous Pirate king, but maybe, just maybe, he will be proud to call the next one his brother. But for that, he has to be there. He has to stay there, no matter how much it hurts, no matter how hard it is. He promised.

“Don’t leave me alone.” Luffy doesn’t care if he’s pitiful, he doesn’t care if Ace calls him weak or a crybaby afterwards.

There is a soft, weak laugh next to his head. “Come on. You’re not alone. Don’t you have a crew waiting for you? You made incredible friends, so you won’t ever be alone.”

Ace coughs, and something wet and warm falls on Luffy’s shoulder. “And neither am I. You came, you all came. Someone like me, who is good for nothing…”

Luffy wants to correct him, not let him deprecate himself with his last words, but he doesn’t dare say anything. Ace is crying now, and he doesn’t want to cut him off. Not now.

“Thank you, for loving me.”

And then…

Nothing.

The word shuts down. Everything becomes dark and cold.

In a small corner of his mind, Luffy realizes this is the end. He failed. Ace is dead. But this feeling, as painful as it is, is swallowed beneath the immensity of the nothingness.

He’s just cold. He’s just, so very cold. He’s been to winter islands, he’s climbed a mountain during a snowstorm carrying both Sanji and Nami on his back, and yet he’s never been this cold in his entire life.  

He’s so cold.

Until, slowly, gradually, he starts to feel warmth.

On his back, his chest, around his shoulder, he starts feeling something warm. There is a light, so small, that brings him back to the present.

Ace’s body is on fire.

“Ace?”

He picks him up, manhandles him so he can get a better look at the injury. He barely notices that the fire isn’t burning him, just gently warming his ice-cold skin.

Ace blinks back at him. He’s still covered in blood, there are tears tracks on his face, but he’s there. The flames had covered the horrible wound on his chest.

“What?”

Luffy slowly becomes aware of his surroundings again. The general feeling in Marineford seems to be the same one as the one Ace and him are feeling: confusion.

Luffy isn’t one to pass on a blessing, but he saw Ace die. And now his brother is burning. This is little too much for his exhausted brain.

Taking advantage of the general puzzlement, someone comes up to them. Luffy initially tenses when the unknown man enters the careful bubble where they are sitting, but Ace seems to relax when he sees him.

The guy has shoulder length blue hair and a mask on his face. He’s tall, but doesn’t seem built like a fighter. He’s wearing expensive looking clothing.

He’s also, and that’s maybe the most noticeable thing, on fire.

Like Ace, he doesn’t look distressed by the flames. He just looks like he has no idea what’s going on either.  

Ace jumps in his arms, like he had suddenly remembered something important.

“Ah, I need to introduce you. Luffy, this is my ex-first lieutenant and crewmate Deuce. Deuce, this is Luffy, my little brother. I told you a lot about him.”

Luffy extends the hand that is not holding Ace toward Deuce, not ready to let go of his brother just yet.

“Nice to meet you.”

Deuce shakes his hand, still looking confused. “Nice to meet you… wait, now is not the time to make introductions!” His face colors slightly in red as he screams, and something in him reminds Luffy of Nami or Zoro when they reprimand him. “Do you know what’s going on?”

Ace shakes his head. “They shared a devil fruit,” says someone, probably a Whitebeard pirate, somewhere. Luffy blinks. What does that have to do with everything?

“When two people share a devil fruit, the most common theory is that the person who took the first bite gains the power, and the curse.” Luffy turns toward Ivankov, who just talked. “But there is another theory, the idea that sharing the cursed fruit links the fates of the ones who do. That they die together… or not at all.”  

Deuce seems to think about it for a second. “That’s got to come with a price,” he says, more to himself than to anyone else. “All miracles do.”

Ace looks at him with wide eyes and Deuce seems to realize what he just said, he swallows and says with a forced smile, “But we will deal with it, right? Nothing can stop us. Spades pirates, right? Or, not really, now, I guess, but-”

“Deuce.”

Ace is talking more to the ground than to his friend, and Luffy can’t help but tighten his grip on him a little. “I’m sorry, I got you involved in this. I got you linked with me forever and I-”

Deuce falls to his knee next to them and takes Ace’s head with his still burning hands. “You don’t get it, do you?”

Ace doesn’t say anything and Luffy just stays there, feeling like he will interrupt something if he talks, but also not ready to completely let go yet.

Deuce takes a deep breath, before letting it go. “I love you. I love you. I always did and I’ll repeat it as much as I need. You didn’t get me involved in anything. I do the things I do, I keep on following you, not because you made me do it, but because I chose to. I follow you because I love you. I never told you, I never found the words, I didn’t want to mess it up, but now I realize I should have said it. I should have said it so many times. I love you. I thought you would realize it, I thought you would notice, but that’s like expecting a fire to notice the moths gathering around it.”

“Please don’t call yourself a moth,” says Ace weakly, his voice a little wet.    

“But that’s what it is, isn’t it? You just keep going, and you never stop, you don’t think about the people around you, you don’t think about me, and please, don’t start apologizing now, because you never apologized for anything you did to me. You know, I had a plan, I knew what I was going to do with my life, but then you had to come and destroy it. You made me a pirate; you made me who I am. I was no one, and you made me. You think you linked us when we shared that fruit? That’s wrong. You linked us the second you set foot on that island. You came into my life without knocking and you made yourself at home in my heart, and you gave me a name, and then I blinked, and you were gone, further away, faster and faster in the way of your life, as if you were rushing toward its end, and I couldn’t stop you. I couldn’t catch you, and the thing is, I didn’t even want to.

You know, I have never fallen in love before, all my knowledge came from books, so I thought that when you love someone, there is a part of you that wants to hold them, to possess them. But I never felt that way. Because I knew, I always knew, you aren’t someone who can be caught. So, I just accepted it, I accepted that I’d stay in the big shadow you cast, and I wouldn’t not try to hold you, try to catch you, because that would be like trying to catch the sun itself. And just now, I felt like I had lost my light, and that I’ve been powerless to stop you from extinguishing, and I realized… After everything, I never told you. So, here we are. I love you. And you don’t have to say anything back, because I know you, and I know you won’t stop for me. But, I love you.”

Deuce gets his burning hand in front of his face. “And, no matter the consequences, I am so glad we got a second chance.”  

All three of them just stays there in silence for a while, before Ace open his mouth, closes it, and opens it again to say, “Deuce-”

“I’m sorry to interrupt your moment,” says a voice above them and Luffy turns his head to see the phoenix-pineapple guy standing there. “But this is still a battlefield, and we need to get out of here. Now.”  

There’s a movement, and Luffy feels himself being lifted from the ground, held tightly by Ace’s arm. A strong Talon is clenched on his brother’s shoulder. All three of them, still tightly interlocked, are being lifted into the air by the phoenix, and for a second Luffy allows himself to forget everything about the events of the past few weeks to just enjoy the feeling of flying.

But it only lasts one second and then they hit the deck of a boat, and the phoenix guy leaves, probably to get some more people to safety.

Luffy stays there, sitting on a boat, for a moment. Now that they are all safe, he can feel his body relaxing.

He blinks. The ship is rocking. Everything is blurry.

He let himself fall back on the wooden deck.

“Luffy!!”

Suddenly, Ace’s face is in front of his, eyes wide in worry.

“It’s okay,” he says, “it’s fine, I just need to sleep it off.”

“No, it’s not, you need- Who are you?”

There is apparently someone else on the ship, because Ace turns his back to him to put himself between him and the stranger. Now that he sees it, Ace is still bleeding. So, whatever happened healed him enough so his life wouldn’t be in danger, but didn’t heal him completely.

“I’m a doctor,” says a voice he might have heard before, but he can’t really remember at the moment. “Let me help him.”

Ace doesn’t move and Luffy can clearly hear him say, “Don’t come any closer! Don’t touch him!”

When he was a kid, he once tried to save an injured fox. Turns out she had pups, and even as he tried to help her, she would stay defensively in front of her hole.

He doesn’t know why he’s remembering that just right now. For now, he just closes his eyes.

He blinks. He’s on a bed. There are machines around him. He’s probably still on a ship.

“You’re awake,” says a voice above him. It’s the man from earlier, who said he was a doctor. Now, Luffy recognizes him; he was in Sabaody. Tra…something.

“Is Ace okay?” he asks. This is his first important question.

The man sighs. “Yes. I had to sedate him, but he’s okay.”

Now, for his second important question: “Can I have food?”  

That gets him a half smile. “Yes. Don’t move, and I’ll get you some.” The man stands up and slowly walks toward the door. Just as he reaches it, he asks, “Don’t you want to know why I saved you?”

Luffy just looks at him with blank eyes. The answer is obvious. “If it’s important, you’ll tell me.”

Again, he gets a half smile for his trouble. “That’s fair,” the man says before leaving.

Now, he knows this Tra-guy told him to stay here, but he’s not taking orders from him, and he’s not good at staying put, so about a minute after the door closes, he gets up and starts exploring.

Not long into his exploration of the ship, he runs into what he was looking for: the kitchen. Someone is there, eating. When he approaches, he recognizes him.

“Oh, hey, pineapple guy! Thank you for saving us.”    

“It’s Marco,” says the pineapple guy. “And shouldn’t you be in the infirmary?”

Luffy just shrugs and takes some of the food in front of him.

“Hey,” says the man without heat, “I was eating that.”

“So what? Don’t pirates take what they want?”

Marco groans. “Go ahead, then. After all, this will never be as good as…”

He trails off, and Luffy observes him for a second. “Are you okay?” he asks.

“Yeah, I’ll be fine. Nothing for you to worry about, kid.”

After a few moments of silence where Luffy is eating and Marco is staring at nothing, he adds, “If it’s Ace you’re looking for, he and Deuce are in a room following this corridor.” He points toward said corridor.

“Are they okay?” Luffy asks.

Marco marks a short pause before answering, “Worried about you.”

“I see.”

He eats a bit more before asking, “And your old man?”

Marco looks at the ceiling and takes a long breath. “He’s still alive, yes. We have the Surgeon of Death to thank for that. Without him… I don’t like to owe a rookie, especially one that seems so eager to collect, but we didn’t have a choice. But again, nothing for you to worry about.”

He looks tired. But, as he says, there isn’t much Luffy can do about it, so he finishes his plate before standing up. “Alright, then. Thank you for the meal.”

“You stole from me,” says Marco as he walks toward the room the man showed him.

Ace is still asleep when he enters, and only Deuce rises to look at him.

“You’re awake,” he says.

“You guys slept together?” Luffy asks.

For some reason, that has Deuce turning red. “No, we didn’t… what?”

“I mean, you guys slept in the same bed.”

“Oh,” the man seems to regain his composure. “Yeah, yeah, that. It happened often when we started sailing and I guess we both needed the familiarity.”

Luffy lets himself fall on a chain near the bed, humming. “Thank you, for saving him.”

Deuce sighs. “I mean, I didn’t really-”

“You did.” He succeeded where Luffy failed. “It’s nice to know he has people like you looking out for him.”

Ace is sleeping, his face peaceful on the comforter, his back against Deuce, mouth half-open. If he were awake, he would probably mock Luffy for talking like this. Insisting that he was the oldest, and it was his job to worry about Luffy, not the other way around.

But he’s not awake, and it’s just Luffy and Deuce right now, so he can say it.

“I know my brother can be a lot to handle,” he says. “But take care of him for me, okay?”

Hey hey mastermind (bestie version) here I’m gonna start using the 🌀 emoji with my asks so we can differentiate with my fellow mastermind anon ☺️. And yes the 🌀 is a reference to the stage design of mastermind during the eras tour because I’m ridiculous lmao.

To answer other anons question this is something I’m honestly unsure about because I feel like it could go 2 ways: 1) they break up after 2/3 years together because that’s been his pattern and he’ll have a new girlfriend lined up an hour after the breakup lol 2) they end up together and married out of convenience and mutual benefits.

The reason I say they might end up together is because he’s getting to an age where he might start thinking about marriage. He clearly wants to get married and have a family at some point in his life and I think he feels like his relationships are a source of stability for him. I also feel like his friend group is either guys who are settled down or perpetual bachelors and Charles very clearly doesn’t want that bachelor image as evident by how quickly he moves on and publicly brings out girlfriends. Especially with Marta and Riccardo having their daughter it’s probably something he thinks about a bit more. Maybe he feels like it’s time and if things aren’t going well with racing he can at least have the family he’s always envisioned for himself. A lot of men I know go into autopilot mode once they reach their mid-twenties because they envisioned this life of being a husband and father (which is also pushed by society and I could talk forever about how men want the status of husband/father but not the responsibility). It’s the taxi cab theory from sex and the city, where guys will decide when they’re ready to settle down and date with intention and settle with the girl in front of him. The question is does he want to wait until he has a championship/more successful career before settling down or does he feel like the stability of a marriage/family will help him?

She also makes it easy for him since she travels with him constantly and the other reasons I laid out in my previous ask are also a big plus for him. I have no idea how things work at her college but she has seemingly dropped out to travel with him? It’s the ultimate showcase of commitment to him and he always has someone with him on the road. I thought that the real test of their relationship was going to be the distance with her studies but she has seemed to have gotten rid of that road block so who knows. Now whether or not that’s sustainable is another question but maybe she’s that devoted to him she’s willing to do it. I do have to acknowledge (because again I don’t know these people and I fully acknowledge this is all speculation) that I could be wrong and they’re madly in love and have decided that they’re each others the 1 (yes I am trying to sprinkle in more Taylor references haha).

However, like my fellow mastermind anon put it this can also be a hinderance because maybe they spend too much time together it starts to feel suffocating. I think we all know a girl who got way too invested in her relationship and was obsessed with her boyfriend that it ended up being the downfall and lead to the breakup (and I say this due to the fact that she’s clearly sacrificed a lot and Charles barely acknowledges her publicly and it honestly makes me sad for her). The reactions of his friends (also pointed out by fellow mastermind anon) also indicate that maybe they know this is a rebound fling and aren’t getting invested. Or they’re just tired of his shit haha. Additionally, she might start getting tired of constantly having to follow him around that if she decides to become more independent and do her own thing he might take it the wrong way.

Personally I feel the like it’ll be the same pattern of them dating for 2/3 years and he’ll quickly move on because that man is consistent. But like I said this could be a curve ball moment where they end up together because timing and circumstances worked out.

Astrologically speaking though, this man has a Sagittarius Venus and they get bored easily, no wonder he’s such a man whore lol. Also interesting that he seems to insist dating Monaco girls with that placement 👀 I guess Alex is Latina so maybe that fulfills some aspects of a Sagittarius Venus but I have no idea what their synastry is like so maybe their relationship works well 🤷‍♀️

Timeless Wells (Flash) - Speedster Chapter 13

 "I think in a few years we can actually create an external force that could speed up the processes of the human body.”

Avery is ranting about another one of her theories.

Through your little lunch meetings, you’ve come to realize that she’s pretty well versed in her field. Her ideas aren’t irrational because unbeknownst to her, she’s actually talking about the speedforce. You aren’t surprised that it hasn’t developed on this earth.

After all this Harrison Wells hadn’t taken the path of all the other ones before him.

“Thanks for having lunch with me. Some of the interns are nice but I know they get annoyed. People say I talk alot. I just can’t help it, you know. Talking is supposed to be good for the soul. I think there’s so much conflict in the world because we all don’t talk enough.”

She continues on and you find yourself smiling. It’s weirdly comforting being around her.

“So tell me about yourself, I’ve been ranting about all my views but I’ve barely listened to yours. Where are you from?”

“I..”

How do you answer that question? You shift in discomfort.

“Oh my gosh I’m sorry! I’m prying again aren’t I?”

Maybe some truth was better than none.

“No it’s okay. It’s just that I’ve been alone for a while. I don’t have any family to speak of and I left home under some pretty awful circumstances.”

“I totally get that. You don’t have to explain anything. Let me go grab us something to drink, okay!”

You’re about to tell her it isn’t necessary, but she’s gone again.

That’s the most honest you’ve been in a while. It feels nice. You like meeting in this lunch room. It’s on the third floor and most of the other scientists meet in the cafeteria. So it’s quiet. Secluded. Exactly what you need. Avery doesn’t seem to hate your company either.

The door opens again, and you smile expecting Avery, but the man that walks inside looks just as shocked as you right now.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Usually no one comes here. Thought I’d have my lunch. I can leave if you don’t want the company.”

You know he’s talking, he must have said something, but you can’t process it. Because his face is one that you never thought you’d see again.

“E..van.”

His brows furrow.

“Yeah, how did you know?”

You stumble out of your chair, rushing out the room.

“H-Hey! You left your lunch!”

You ignore the call. The second you’re out of the room, you speed through the lab. It’s irresponsible to be displaying your powers this way, but you can’t help it. The circumstances call for it. Papers fly and people are a bit startled at the gust of wind. Harrison is startled when you phase right through his door.

“(Y/N)? Is everything okay?”

He stands from his desk and you stagger over to him.

“H-He’s here I need to leave Harrison! I-I can’t do this, I have to go!!” He takes you by the shoulders.

“Calm down and tell me everything. Who is here?”

“My brother..”

You truly thought that you would never see his face again.

It’s a cruel faith.

“I have to go. I can’t stay here. I can’t deal with this I-”

“You can’t leave.”

Your eyes meet his and there is something there. He doesn’t appear that surprised at your information. You finally raise up fully, still in his hold.

“You knew..he was here..”

Harrison nods hesitantly.

“I did.”

Your eyes glow red almost instinctively.

“Were you trying to punish me!!”

The lighting crackles against your skin, but he doesn’t release you. Even when the lights in the building flicker. It’s clear that the energy is having an effect on him, but he pushes through. If you run off now, then this would have been all for nothing.

“I’m trying to help you move on. At first I didn’t know, but then I looked through your family name. Your mother’s maiden name was different. So is Evan’s.

Your face is still twisted in anger.

“In order to deal with your grief, you have to face it. This isn’t the man you knew. He’s a version of your brother, yes. But he’s different. You need to see that. Embrace that. It’s the only way. “

You still looked enraged, but when the lights stopped flashing, he kept his gaze fixed on you.

“I know it’s hard, but you deserve to be happy. You won’t get there pretending that you’re okay. Have faith in what I’m doing. Have faith in me, the same way that I have faith in you. “

How can you fight that? He’s always done what is best for you. There’s no reason he would suddenly turn on you now, but you’re still scared. You’re still somewhat heaving, even after he begins to see your irises. Harrison relaxes when you’re much calmer.

“I’m sorry..” You mutter looking down.

That lightning must have been painful, even if he’s trying to keep a straight face.

“It’s alright. I understand. Please know that I would never do anything to hurt you.”

It’s not really that weird hearing such sincere words from him. Harrison has always been in your corner. He’s your friend. Something you have a very short supply of right now. You’d never want to do anything to jeopardize that.

Yet..

Looking at him elects a strange warmth in your chest.

One you thought you’d completely forgotten.

Hey Lily recently had a round-trip podcast about the Owl house season 2 episodes. It'll take me too much time to tell about all the nonsense that was there, but if you want to get more whining about hunter and how he steals screen time from other characters you can check. The video is so bad that it actually good

well, i do need to have something to listen to while i do my chores so let's go:

separate tides:

good: i really did enjoyed the input of ginger, which was a surprise to me but because i never saw her analyzing a show before. i wonder if those are all her own thoughts that she developed on her own or it was part of a set script that LO had? either way, her parts are the most enjoyable if not for anything else because she's very fair and appreciates the visual aspect of this visual media. it would make sense for her as an artist to actually appreciate the collor pallete, something that usually feels lacking when LO's analyzing something on her own. bad: MO barely had a word in between ginger and LO talking. the comment about how “luz’s being punished for existing and puts herself in danger when she doesn’t need to” feel more flavor of LO refusing to engage with conflict at all. she specifically talking about “edgy fanfic writers who never grow up from edgy fanfic writers” is so painfully unaware considering that she keeps making contrive and unnecesary scenarios on her own fanwork just for the “melodrama”. LO gets very weirdly personal and gross about Dana, it reminds to how she ended up screaming how much of a creep rebecca sugar is on her one and only relevant video. apparently the only time that LO enjoyed hunter was on this first episode because he was just fun and then, when they actually explored him as a character, “suck all the personality out of him”. he was a fun character on that episode and they bring out a character from kingdom heart that was a more fun villain for comparison. ginger thinks this is something that happens on fanfiction a lot, where you don’t know “how to have a traumatized character that is also fun. Hunter is a wasteland of trauma.” the worse: ginger and LO going on a tangent about how people shouldn’t share their trauma through fiction is deeply upsetting. they all three laugh way too hard about how lilith had sex with hottie.

escaping expulsión:

good: LO admits finally that LO’s a protagonist of color that doesn’t get overshadowed by other character. you’d never know reading her posts. bad: LO thinks Luz lost her charm when she stopped being happy go lucky. worse: a tangent about how both LO and ginger do not understand the role of executive on shows. they both make it seem like dealing with executive is as easy as tell them no but that’s not how it goes for a lot of creators.

Echoes of the past: good: short. bad: they all bash fans for having fun fan theories about the connection between owl house and gravity falls. hunter and luz are at their best when they’re “fun”, but fans can’t have fun on their own. worse: ginger keeps doing something to her mic that sounds like she’s rubbing her hands all over it. keeping up a-fear-ances: good: also short. MO actually manages to get more than a full sentences in

bad: MO calls Steven universe ubermench worse:? through the looking glass ruins: good: they talk positively about Gus.

bad: anytime they say “this was overshawowed by this” they mean that the fandom gave more attention to one thing over the other. on this case, gus “of course” was overshadowed by the lumity b plot and the writers should have predicted this somehow. worse: Lo saying that the writers are out of touch because we only know that Luz is latina through an interview wich is just wrong, her name is a spanish name and her mom speaks to her in spanish on the very first episode. if you didn’t catch that she was latina from that moment forwards that’s not the fault of the show. LO might have a tendency of using Spanish names on characters just to make them more “interesting” but not everyone is like that. we didn’t know from where her family comes from and they could have done more to explore that on the show (like how they did on amphibia), but we knew that she was hispanic since the very start of the show. I also don’t understand how exploring gus’s issues and trauma is good, but doing that for hunter and luz is bad. It’s such an arbitrary standard.

Hunting palismen:

good: LO actually liked Hunter up until his mask was off and he had a tooth gap because apparently people were going to like him the wrong way or something. bad: LO complains about hunter being shipped with characters he interact with on the show. worse: hunter is boring. Ginger goes on a gross tangent about how 14-15 (the actual demographic for this show) are going to like hunter and they should have better taste than that. maybe we shouldn’t be shaming 14-15 little girls for having crushes on fictional boys. LO claims that she writes Alaina better than how Dana writes hunter because she has more ideas for cool stuff for Alaina to do. LO admits to only writing fanfic, not reading it and she uses as some kind of flex. eda’s requiem: good: they like Raine and gush over them. they enjoyed Darius too. bad: LO ships Darius and Eberwolf, calling it “finally some good monsterfuckery.” i don’t think Eberwolf’s age is brought up or confirmed anywhere. on the wiki for him he’s describe as having a “child size”… he’s a feral loli and LO just ship him with Darius. worse: MO makes a very loud snort that i did not love to have on my earphones. she comments on how she was the one editing the other podcast so i think she edited this one too? that’s three hours and a half of final result so i can only assume that at leas it was four hours originally that MO had to go through to piece what was important and what wasn’t, if not more. LO, pay MO. please. 200 for editing four hours of content is cruel.

Knock knock knocking on hoory’s door

good: generally positive review. LO and ginger gush about the plot and Eda’s harpy form. bad: LO trashes the fans for having fun theorizing again and “people always makes their gay character hot and steamy”, which is… something coming from her. worse: MO makes a joke about how she’d have found funny the break scene. LO: “what are you like this, mIkay?” MO: “i don’t know, please fix me.” LO:”that’s not my job to fix you, that’s why i paid the therapist for.” MO: “fair enough”. LO: “this’s the woman i married to, everybody.” MO: “no take backsies”. eclipse lake: good: generally poisitive reviw. I do like their reasoning for the worst vilains ever being “just some guy” since it makes the monster more human and also makes the audience think about the possibility of them becoming monster. It’s a good insight that LO’ll never apply in real life but it’s a good point her. bad: MO references the pose of Amity that she stole without credit for a piece of art as the only time she liked hunter on the episode.  MO has the most positive things to say about hunter overall.

worse: LO and Ginger both thinks the color pallete of Hunter is awful. yesterday’s lie: good: LO loves this episode. they compare the camp that Camilla was going to send luz to one about teaching neurodivergent kids coping mechanism, which is an interesting point i haven’t seen a lot of people make. she and ginger agree that Luz’s decision to be with eda was selfish and she’d have probably have a good time on the camp with other kids like her, as Vee in fact did. i still can’t comprehend how they got that from what little we could see about the camp but they missed luz being latina. bad: trashing hunter even thought he is not even on this episode. worse: trashing people who ship hunter with anyone. LO, someone who claims to have had covid twice already, “i think i had covid recently because i had a lot of gas and i heard that happens to people who have covid”. i think she just self reported. follies at the cover’s day parade:

good: MO likes Snapdragon, at least a more fun villain “in comparison to hunter”.

bad: more trashing hunter. a thing that’s quickly standing up for me here is that MO doesn’t really have a lot of opinions about hunter or doesn’t express them as strongly as ginger or LO. she doesn’t even agree when they talk about him with as much enthusiasm as LO does when ginger goes on another tangent about how boring he is. worse: something about the seth that made FG that i didn’t catch and i don’t want to hear again to descipher.

SU was raised by three gems who aren’t related to him and they’re the main focus of the show but sure. the first time ever that LO catches herself bringing SU too much but only to say that sugar “doesn’t know what she thinks she knows.” worse: LO’s grossly personal about Dana and slips another comment about Sugar being racist. LO: “dramatic shows are not very popular.” them’s the breaks, kid good: generally positive review. bad: trashing on Dana for supposedly having hunter as her favourite character. hunter is not even on this episode. worse: they all keep shipping Darius and Eberwolf, the feral loli. LO doesn’t think that there’s any need for especulation on the show so there shouldn’t be any theorist on the fandom.

Hollow mind: good: MO talking about Belos until both ginger and LO drag hunter into it. bad: LO: “the worst episode of the fucking show.” worse: LO’s angry that hunter still hasn’t perfectly broken through years of grooming soon enough. all three of them miss the point that this is a show for kids so some thing need to be spelled out, like the theory that belos was phillip.

LO gushes over a VA and they liked the writing on this episode. bad: they don’t like or care about the Collector, which they use to trash people who were theorizing about him. worse: labrynth runner good: short. they gushed over gus and the evil covenant head leader. bad: “hunter go, away” being literally the first words about this episode that they pronounce. “it’s not helped by the fact that Dana just had to put hunter here for no reason. you could remove hunter from the episode”. ginger: “Dana, you’re an idiot, don’t put hunter into episode where he doesn’t belong. but also if you’re on the hunter fans who’s saying what a good episode: smacking you, biting you and killing you.” we talked a lot about LO’s dislike of hunter but ginger’s the one who keep surprising with how agressive she’s about her dislike of hunter. a lot of her opinions too are almost verbatin the ones LO had on her blog. do they just happened to agree with each other a lot or someone’s copying someone else? considering LO’s history of plagiarizing and copying others without credit, it’s likely she heard ginger express such feelings and then repeated them but i don’t actually know. she sounds legitimately mad and i understand as little the why from her as i don’t understand it when it comes from LO alone. LO: “there’s no way that Gus wouldn’t know to differentiate a illusion of willow”. the point of that scene was to showcase that gus is still basically just a kid and because of that he’s very naive. that’s actually the perfect contrast to hunter who was raised expecting a stab on the back from everyone. the point of hunter being there was tos ay there needs to be an actual balance between the two postures to have a healthy life. this episode could not have worked as it did without hunter… which later sets up hunter being there for the final battle so that luz can try to be a hero on her own, a very common thing between hero characters. Lo: “you know, i don’t say this about a lot of characters but hunter is a mary sue.” i thought mary sue was a purely misogynistic insullt?

Lo: “i feel like Dana would be one of the producers and writers there is if she examined these problems that she definitely has” LO: “we only find out that Luz is afrolatina on a podcast and i hate when people do that”. ignores that she constantly gives details about her own characters through tumblr posts that almost never made it to the final product anyway. ginger: “hunter is unnecesary for the plot”. Without hunter we wouldn’t know about unity day plan. we as the audience hear about it from the collector on a flashback involving hunter. later hunter is the one to inform everyone at school and people believe him because he was the golden guard. they wouldn’t have believed luz the same way because she’s just another student like them and she didn’t had any evidence. LO: “Dana, i know you don’t have perspective because you’re one of them but hunter fans are a loud minority” LO: “they infantilize gus so fucking quickly”. did LO forgot that gus is 12? she seems constantly surprised that gus doesn’t know everything already. LO: “what the hunter stans ultimately is just a straight ship between two white people”. o titan where art though good: they gushed over Steve and King. they liked the plot with luz and eda. bad: MO: “bleached kylo ren”. confirmation that i was right. hunter is not even on this episode. worse: coulds on the horizon good: they gush first over how evil Odalia is. they liked luz and willow’s new outfits. bad: ginger: “willow is evolving to her pilot form” LO: “just don’t get the pixie cut.” worse: king’s tide good: they don’t trash hunter immediately and instead talk about how luz defeat belos. MO has been the one making the best commentary about Belos overall and now they do like the collector because of how powerful he is. bad: except LO who thinks he is badly written. LO doesn’t understand that Luz trying to sacrifice herself is her again trying to be a hero because that’s what hero characters are. they’re selfless by nature. a very common character arch for heroes is to find the point in which they can be selfless but not lose themselves. Luz still hasn’t come to that point. It’s called a character arch for a reason. worse: LO compares Luz putting herself on danger with how she wrote Alaina having suicide tendencies… something we all know for a fact was a poor rewrite that never was fully integrated on the story even to this day. she's using again her star wars fanfiction as proof that she's a better writer than the professional cartoon creator.

conclusion: good: short. ginger has a lot of positive comments. bad: LO: "i think this season would have been a lot better if they had kept lilith as the head of the coven". worse: LO: "i know we're all being very charitable to Dana but we need to adress that the fandom has a white favoritism problem and so does Dana, she's making actively worse and so i feel someone needs to tell her to stop." i don't disagree that there's racism in fandom (there's racism everywhere) but LO's not helping by dragging the white boy every chance she has for breathing. or by pretending to be cherokee without being claimed by the nation. or ignoring black people who talk to her about she makes them uncomfortable. or ignoring the native people who speak about she makes a mockery of their culture. or finding out about stereotypes or tropes regarding fictional black women only after she had already used the race of her OC as a shield. actions speak louder than words, LO. you can gush about gus all day long but you still need to treat other people better. LO: "if i had a show the first thing i'd do would be to hire sensitivity writers." just like you did hire a sensitive reader to write alaina. LO: "people ask me what i'd do if allie was included on the star wars universe and i always tell the first thing i'd do is hire six sensitivity readers because i don't trust myself and then other six to just do it better." i don't believe a single word of this. nobody asked that.

Grace’s work sounds super interesting, and I wonder if Lucienne or Morpheus have sneaked a look at a copy of her yet to be written book in the library of the Dreaming.

Is monster theory connected to posthumanism? It’s not one of the ‘posts’ that I’ve worked with, but a friend of mine is a posthumanist academic and completed her PHD on the origins of supernatural entities. It was super interesting and I can only imagine how different pursuing that interest might be for Grace now…

On a side note, I love pre-Raphaelite art and was looking at some paintings and there are so many that make me think of Grace. La Belle Dame Sans Merci and Lamia and the Soldier by John W Waterhouse have me picturing Hob in some armour and Grace in a flowing medieval dress and Morpheus just loving every minute of it all.

Yeah, the conundrum of whether or not to tell her Mum is a big one. I can’t imagine it’s easy for Grace not having anyone to share with or confide in other than Hob and Morpheus? I feel like she needs a female friend who she can be completely honest with about everything that’s happened and is happening in her life.

I know you’ve said she gets along with Lucienne, but I feel like there’d be limits to any girl talk they might have, given that one of Grace’s partners is Lucienne’s boss. Do you think she’ll have some friends in the future she can be open about her situation with? I am super keen for her and Hob to meet Death and Delerium. I can’t imagine how isolating it must have been for Hob all those years not having any fellow immortals to talk to.

Also, are Hob and Grace likely to meet Constantine? I would be very keen to see Constantine’s reaction to finding out that Morpheus is in a relationship with not one, but two humans.

Ooh, that is an excellent question! I think Lucienne has probably at least looked at it, once she has time, if only to check in on it from time to time to see how it changes. The one downside to having access to the largest and most complete library in the universe is that Grace can’t use half the sources she finds there! Morpheus, though…I think he waits. He wants the first time he sees it to be when Grace shows it to him herself.

It is connected to posthumanism!! There’s a ton of other influences and connections and I’ve mainly worked with it in its connection to queer theory (and barely scratched the surface of it at that), but I think monster theory as a whole is absolutely fascinating, and Grace coming in to contact with what could be considered actual, literal monsters in the form of nightmares definitely makes theory work feel a bit different! Your friend’s PhD sounds so interesting, I do sometimes wish I’d gone a different direction with my master’s thesis and monster theory is absolutely what I would have done in a very different world.

I love Waterhouse’s work so much and I have actually specifically looked at his La Belle Dame Sans Merci more times than I can count for Hob/Grace inspiration. I just love the way they look at each other in Lamia and the Solider as well, it feels like such an intimate connection in that moment. Morpheus would absolutely be so down for a Waterhouse moment in the Dreaming. Any excuse to get Hob in armor is a good one, and Grace, in a beautiful dress? He needs no more convincing.

It’s harder on Grace than she realizes it is, I think. The only two people she can be entirely honest with about her relationship are the other two people in the relationship, and she doesn’t want to create any “us against him” dynamic with either Hob or Morpheus, so in reality, she has no one she can be fully honest with. She also doesn’t have anyone that she’s disclosed the actual status of her relationship to; none of her friends, for example, know that she has more than one partner. She definitely needs someone, and I’m still trying to work out who I think that could or would be in-universe!

I think you’re absolutely right about Lucienne. She’s close to Morpheus as well, has the most power in the Dreaming besides him, but the hierarchy of that relationship does definitely limit what Grace would feel comfortable sharing with her, mainly because she doesn’t want to put Lucienne in a weird or awkward or uncomfortable position.

She needs another immortal friend who gets it and who would be open to the concept of her relationship! Maybe someday she’ll get to have that, she really does need it…

I’m so excited for her and Hob to meet the family, but especially Death and Delirium! Hob has probably run into other immortals, whether he knew it or not, but by necessity, I don’t think other immortals stick together too much. It’s too hard to know who to trust with that secret and it’s much more conspicuous when more than one person just…isn’t aging and can’t die, so for Hob, meeting other immortals, even if they aren’t human, is such an exciting thing, every time. I think both Death and Delirium will get on with both of them very well, and it’s always good to have allies in that family!

I would love so much for them to run into Constantine in person. She would be shocked, frankly, that Morpheus has not one but two people who went in for tall, dark, and broody long term. I’ll figure out how to make that one happen someday, I think it would be a lot of fun.

Oh good!! I just love names so much, and the intimacy of them. You can do so much with the power dynamics of titles and I love that you can have Grace sitting here, pulling out a “my lord” to drive Hob wild, and in that exchange, she’s holding all of the cards, she’s fully in charge, even if Hob might appear to be from the outside. Hob is also not so secretly into the idea of her being the one with the title instead…

She was served custody papers in front of 1000 people and the entire world saw it. She is being accused of not being a good mom to her kids and constantly leaving them. And she’s now on vacation instead of being with her kids. She really is a fucking moron. Also this proves my point from the very beginning that this stunt is more important to her then her kids. Like you got served custody papers while you were at work because you were dodging the process servers and now you want to be on vacation instead of being with the kids that you could lose custody of. Like she’s actually not that smart.  so Jason is done filming Ted Lasso and since it is his week with his kids I’m assuming that they are already back in New York.  I have said from the beginning that they are not going into press for this movie with the stunt still going on. They will end it before the movie comes out. My theory is that we will either get the break up article either before tour Or sometime during tour.My guess is sometime in July or August. The movie comes out 22 September promo for a film normally starts about a week or two before the movie actually comes out. Harry has a 6 day break between 15 September and the 21st. And another break from the 21st to the 25th. That is not a lot of time for him to do any type of promo especially with the cast. I am thinking that since he will be in New York for the first break he will do a couple New York talkshows and do most of the promo for this movie remotely via zoom. So I’m guessing and hopefully I’m correct we will probably get a break up article in mid july- early august. That will leave a little bit of time before press starts and it will drum up even more Talk to the movie. The reason I don’t think this will last until after the movie is Because Harry instead of making time in his schedule to promote this film that he is the lead of and it is first leading role he littered his schedule with a bunch of concerts. Instead of having to be there and having to work with her again to promote this film he would rather do concerts and not even take time. We all know how you could’ve cleared a week or two in his schedule to promote this phone but that he didn’t. I also see while I’m looking at these tour dates is that Harry has a two week break in October which leads me to believe that that is going to be around the time that my policeman comes out. We all heard it was having a full release and I find it very interesting That Harry couldn’t clear his schedule to promote don’t worry darling but clear over two weeks to promote my policeman. We have all seen but Harry has done the bare minimum for the stunt but Harry is also doing the bare minimum for this movie. Florence Pugh has a fuck ton of movies that she is going to be filming this year and next year so we have no idea if she’s going to be able to promote this movie as much and so does Gemma Chan. So with the three of them not promoting I wonder what’s going to happen? Florence start filming dune part two in July and Gemma has a series that she’s filming as well so who knows
