My favorite authors - for the Directioners out there, yk, if you still read 1D fics…

These are the authors whose story I absolutely love, andddddd if for some reason you still read 1D fics, I’d totally recommend reading their stories!

niamdaisies often write niam, and her stories are really fluffy and cute…just the type that’s so cliche but so good T-T. I often read her stories on a rainy day ‘cuz they warm me up…Sadly, she’s not active anymore;(

i really love the characterization of Niall in niall_ate_mynamee’s stories, and her style of writing is amazing T-T. And her fics have great angst and fluff combined - easily my favorite author. She has recently come back to writing, so check out her works!

I wasn’t really fond of NiallBottoms_Harold’s works at first, ‘cuz I feel like they have too much smut and drama…But trust me, her writing has really improved and her works are now amazayn! I always read hers when I feel the need for drama. Idk if she’s still active - she’s been gone for a while.

Btw, her readers are like, crazy - just like us in the 1D days. I think every author deserves that kind of support for the effort they put in their works!

jamesniall often focuses on character building, one thing I love when I feel the need for deep fics. Her stories often make the characters’ feeling so remarkable, and the way she describes Niall’s anxiety in some fics is like she actually went through it. If you love fics that focuses on feelings she’s for you!

Niall is just soooooooooo lovely in Mcwarr’s fics😭. Her fics are a great combination of angst and fluff, and sometimes you feel so bad for Niall;(. They also have a great deal of hurt/comfort. She also supports Narry - my OTP!

OliverRose’s fics have delicious smut, and some cute fluff at the same time! Her one shot “Frozen Flower” is a must-read. Not much to say about her, just that her stories are like a romance TV serie - hot and cute at the same time.

Angst and fluff and everything nice. But the most remarkable thing is THE SUPERNATURAL THEME. A must-read is the serie “Hell Bound”, which has a supernatural theme. Her stories are not only romance, they also includes other genres such as mystery! I think that’s kinda a hard stuff to find in fanfics. Her fics should be made into a movie, because the romance is great, but mystery is also awesome and unique!

That’s all I can think of right now, but I think I’ll add some later. And sadly only a few of these authors are active, so please send them love and support! They all deserve it!

And yes, I love Niall centric.

Okay i'll check out the first two and I'm sort of familiar with sogoldenarry's work. I loved their Narry threesome and I even read the smutty golf one shot that was Niall based. Then two days ago i read the one shots for Lesson Plan and was going to read the book Lesson Plan but I gotta be honest and say their stories get on my nerves sometimes. Don't get me wrong they can write GOOD smut but the situations they are in are so unrealistic. Like the Narry one shot took place in an office. You're telling me they were screaming and having a threesome in a office building and no one else realized?? Or like in the Lesson Plan one shots they have sex in a library and janitors closet, being not quiet I may add. To me that takes away the realism and it takes a turn for cringe. Not to mention I hate when the characters will randomly start saying "mommy" and "daddy" during sex without that kink talked about before hand.

Not related to that author specifically but something I hate almost more than anything else is when Harry and y/n will be having sex for the first time together and yet are already doing borderline bdsm. Niаll stood in the chair, spinning insanely, telling Harry things that had been happened recently with him and the other boys. They have been friends for a long time, and they were telling each other more than everything. And they were now something more. It was a lot more than just a month ago, and Harry was already thinking about hinting to Niall that it was time.

He leaned back, staring straight at Niall's chair, smiling. He did not listen to him, not at all. And the stories of Liam confusing the man's toilet and getting into the female's were not so new to Harry, because that often happened to him when they were going to the toilet.

"Sometimes I'm ashamed of only stand next to him, you know?" Niall said, laughing, leaning back. Soon the chair stopped spinning and he stared at Harry with a smile. The curly man looked at him in astonishment, realizing that he was no longer speaking. "What is it, dear?" Niall asked quietly, and sat down beside him on the bed. "Is everything allright, darling?" He asked again, but this time he wrapped his arms around him and smiled.

"Niall, I think it's time." He shook his head.

At first the blond boy didn't realize what his friend wanted to say. But the next time it was like the light in his head flashed and he looked at him.

"I know I was the one who wanted to wait." He sighed, and crouched in his beloved body. "I just don't want the same thing that happened with Will before, you know..."

"I know, Harry. I told you I would wait as long as you needed." He whispered, kissing his forehead.

"That's the point, Niall. I think it's time." He shook his head slightly with a smile. "I'm ready."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure."

Harry's face turned bright with a smile. He was more ready than ever. He had forgotten about the past and about what happened with this boy, he was finally ready to devote himself entirely to his beloved.

Then Niall kissed him. He started to deepen the kiss, and Harry replied without thinking. He relaxed, surrendering his body to him, and allowing him to do whatever he wished. Their hands quickly found a place on the each other's neck, their teeth began to squeeze slightly into each other's lips, while Harry's tongue did not slip between them in vain, breaking the simple kiss.

This puzzled Niall, but he didn't think more and relaxed. He grabbed his body and pulled him down, getting over it. All the time he didn't let his lips go away from Harry's, and didn't let him rest or take in air. But he still didn't believe that this was finally happening. Pictures from the first time he tried to undress him, rushed into his head, and he abruptly retreated.

"Harry, I don't want to do it just because it's been a month and a half. I want you to feel it and..."

"Niall... Just don't stop, okay?"

After that, Niall had no right to stop. Neither his body wanted, nor Harry, so his thoughts, trying to keep him away from it so he would not end up like the one before, were thrown away.

He quickly undressed him and slid his hands over his body. All the tattoos on it and every unevenness was crawled by his rough fingers. Harry had relaxed and didn't tremble at all, didn't leap, didn't try to repel him. He was relaxed, and it was very precious for Nile to give him as much pleasure as possible.

Niall grabbed Harry's slightly groomed member and began to caress him lightly. He smiled, looking up, seeking approval. He got it. So he went on, and a little quicker. The simple things Harry had done with himself, but if he had started with another, he would probably be panicked.

"Niall... please..." Harry whispered in a moment.

"What's it, dear?" Niall asked softly, touching his dick with his lips. "Do you want that, dear?" He asked, then began to lick it as if it was an ice cream.

"N-niaalll..." Harry muttered, shrinking a little, and a second later, the face of the blond one was poured into a thick, sticky liquid. "I'm sorry..." Harry whispered, and Niall glanced at him with a smile, licking it from himself.

"No problem, dear. You're delicious." He smiled, then found the tissues and cleaned himself. "But if you think that's all I can do..."

"Yeah, you're wrong!" Harry finished, and laughed. "No, I know you're not."

A second later, Niall found himself again between Harry's legs. This time he went a little further down and began to touch his entrance. He touched it slowly and gently, leaving behind only the trace of rough skin. After a second he licked his finger and began to rub it slowly, causing him to shake from time to time. Harry smiled, feeling the tenderness that Niall was trying to give him. Yes, his fingers weren't soft, but the way he watched him wanting his approval constantly... that was the greater tenderness in such a situation.

"Can you please tell me if it hurts."

Harry knew it wouldn't hurt him. He had suffered too much pain to hurt him now. He had endured a lot, and when he finally sensed Niall's fingers, he simply groaned.

"Is everything alright?"

"Yes, Niall. Everything is fine." He whispered softly, and nodded. This gave Niall a chance to continue and soon put a second finger. Then a third, and smiled when he was finally out of Harry.

He took off his clothes, found a condom in his wallet, and quickly put it on his length. He stepped back between the legs of the curly boy and lifted his pelvis slightly to get it as painlessly as possible. Soon Harry shrugged up and nearly screamed, but he remembered that the boys might be in the other room and chose to bite his hand, so he cannot scream that loud.

"Does it hurt?"

"No. Just ... You are a little big for me, okay? Don't stop... Don't, just... Do it, okay?" He asked, and smiled. He pulled a pillow and put it on his face, pressing it tightly against himself. At least if he screamed he would be muffled. Niall didn't stop, he followed his instructions and soon moved faster. He didn't want to prolong this act because it would only bring Harry more pain. He took his member and began pumping while slowly moving forward and backward with his pelvis.

Soon both were close, Niall looked at Harry, and he gave him a sign, so a few more bumps and they had cummed. Harry's sperm scattered on his stomach, and Niall's stayed in the condom. He pulled it carefully and tied it and throw it in the trash. His eyes quickly settled on Harry's, and he smiled.

"You are beautiful." He whispered, and the curly nodded. Niall took napkins and wiped his body, lying beside him. "Hey..." he whispered, noticing something odd in his expression. "Are you crying?" Niall asked softly.

"I'm sorry..." Harry groaned in tears and snuggled into him.

"What's wrong? Did it hurt?"

"No..." Harry grunted and shrank even more.

"What then? Didn't you like it? If I should..."

"Shut up!" Harry sighed and pressed against him. "It was just wonderful."

"But I don't want you to cry, Harry..." Niall looked at him and tried to wipe his tears.

"Get it as a proof that it was wonderful." the green-eyed man said and looked up at his friend's face. "Because that was the most beautiful feeling I ever had."

Literally Making Love by Brooklyn_Babylon / @twopoppies (E, 30K) this one is mine, but I’ve actually read it multiple times after I posted it, as if it was someone else’s fic. I just really enjoy the pining, the humor, the compassion, the sexiness, and yes, the humanity.

Pull Me Under by zarah5 (E, 140K) One of the very first fics I read when I came into this fandom…and I’ve read it multiple times since. Zarah’s fics hold up every time. This one has it all, great pacing, ot5 friendship, banter, super sexy smut, etc etc. Plus, Louis being super jealous of Harry’s best friend. Link is to a download.

As You Are by zarah5 (E, 139K) Again, great author who always delivers. This time it’s Louis as a Radio1 DJ and XFactor judge and Harry as (an adult) contestant. It also has some super sexy flirting and smut as well as a great Narry bros friendship side story. Link is to a download.

Sing When You're Winning by hazmesentir (NR, 91K) another one I read ages ago, but I always like this author’s writing and the premise of newly out footballer Louis and journalist intern Harry who somehow snags the interview, is such a fun one. And I don’t know why it has an NR rating, there’s plenty of smut.

Singing To Tiny Dancer by BriaMaria / @briannamarguerite (E, 23K) I feel like I keep saying the same things but this author always gets my heart. Famous Louis this time, escaping his super star life and returning to the (home town, not famous) boy he used to know. *clutches heart and swoons*

The Section by bananaheathen (M, 11K) Listen... I discovered this author recently and I LOVE them. If you liked These Inconvenient Fireworks, read this now! It’s got all of the OT5 friendship, humor, and banter, without the heartbreaking angst. I loved this one.

Fine Line by bananaheathen (T, 5K) Have I mentioned I love this author? The dialogue and banter in this is top notch. Just a delightful fic that feels perfect at 5K, and at the same time I wish there was 100K more.

smell the sea, feel the sky by @lightwoodsmagic (E, 16K) This is the perfect summer pining fic. I love that they’re adults and still the same horny, pining fools for each other and it still works. It’s just very sexy, light, and fun.

Our Lives, Non-Fiction by @indiaalphawhiskey (E, 114K) this is, quite literally, the best fic I’ve read in years. It’s so well written, clever, funny, emotional, and sexy. Its draw you in immediately and you’ll end up falling in love with these characters before you know it. Don’t miss this one.

led by your beating heart by missandrogyny (E, 29K) This time it’s a game of Call and Delete that reunite Harry and Louis. This author always writes fun and sexy fics. Give this one a shot.

Gimme Some Sugar by nonsensedarling / @absoloutenonsense (M, 14K) This one takes place almost entirely inside a bakery where Harry and Louis are coworkers. It’s sweet and funny and I love awkward, flustered Louis trying to tame his massive crush for Harry.

The light to guide me home by Star_Henderson / @tommosgun (E, 65K) I don’t know what it is about this fic but I’ve read it so many times and I just really love the instant chemistry, the smut is stupid hot and fuels the character growth, and even with the angst, the whole thing is just lighthearted and sexy.

we can take the long road home by @pinkcords (E, 46K) This was absolutely gorgeous. And it made me cry, damn it. Seriously though, the writing is so beautiful. I loved the characterizations and the way they both showed their vulnerability. I loved the slow pace and the hot smut. I loved this fic

If You're Hoping for a Harbour by LadyLondonderry / @londonfoginacup (GA, 3K) This was so sweet and lovely. Perfect world building, quirky characters, and a charming twist on soulmates.

All I See Is You, Lately by runaway_train / @runaway-train-works (GA, 2K) Such a sweet meet cute. I loved the way Harry learns about who Louis is purely by observing him on the tube.

A Slow and Steady Rush by godots (E, 12K) I really enjoyed how this one was almost all internal monologue and how the slow build up led to a sweet and awkward first time for them. Just really nicely written.

Thought The Song Was Sung by 100percentsassy (E, 13K) This is both a famous/not famous and a dating app AU. Plus, older Larry. Plus an author who writes great fic. And this one is just sweet and charming and I really like this one.

Just Tell Me the Song and I'll Sing It by myownspark / @myownsparknow (NR, 40K) This author is really something special. This is one of their longest fics and it’s just slow burn flirting and falling in love. Their relationship is gentle and romantic, plus Harry in a baseball uniform is a wonderful bonus.

Barefoot in Blue Jeans by @indiaalphawhiskey (E, 24K) Pro football player Louis. I love the single parent/nanny trope and it works so well here, plus….football player!louis. Can’t go wrong with that! And this writer is always a favorite. I’ve actually read this one twice and loved it both times.

Lambing Season by @helloamhere (E, 26K) This is beautiful little emotional fic and it’s one of my favorites. If you’ve ever wanted to leave your shitty work environment, escape to an idyllic countryside, and find love along the way, read this one.

where your lips land by BriaMaria / @briannamarguerite (E, 12K) Ok, I’ve recommended this one a few times and I really do love it. Anyway, I love fics where the two of them are both artists of some sort (Louis is a poet in this one, Harry is a photographer) because it allows for another layer of understanding and connection and support. I particularly love the way Louis’ tattoos are woven into this story with layered meaning. And, as always, just beautiful writing.

Walk That Mile by purpledaisy (E, 150K) I’ve read this one multiple times and still love it. Their bickering is so realistic, their resistance to their attraction to each other is perfect, the way the author portrays all of their weird quirks and differences but still makes it believable that they’d fall fo reach other is such fun to read….I love this fic.

Caught By the Sun by metal_eye / @metal-eye (M, 19K) Sometimes you just stumble on a fic that moves you deeply and makes you feel a lot and sits with you after you’ve finished it. This was one of those fics for me. It’s beautifully written in a quiet, poetic way. It’s thoughtful, and intimate, and full of memories that are both melancholy and beautiful in all the right ways and at all the right times. And it’s a fic that’s not been read nearly enough.

Anonymous Said by @alivingfire (T, 21K) I read this one ages ago and don’t have great notes on it, but this author always delivers. I do remember it being a beautifully written coming of age story full of self-discovery and online friendships.

domestic monsters by g_uttertrash (9-part series, 234K, mixed ratings) No rec for witches would be complete without this wonderful series of fics. It’s just full of magic and banter and great writing and complex characterizations.

Your Name Is Tattooed On My Heart by mcpofife (E, 87K) I reread this one recently and it's truly delightful. The characterizations are so well done. Harry is so endearing (I cried over his heartbreak). And the smut is both hot and really emotional. Love this one.

let me make a thing of cream and stars by missandrogyny (E, 25K) Louis is a radio DJ, Harry is a famous pop star. And the flirting and sexual tension is top notch leading up to some excellent smut (I would expect nothing less from this author) and a happy ending.

In Dreams by dolce_piccante (M, 24K) This actually might be my favorite of this author’s fics, although I know it’s definitely not the most popular. It’s just soft and romantic and sweet and I’m a sucker for tattoo artist Louis winning over slightly uptight Harry.

six feet beneath the moon by starseas (NR, 25K) I wish I could remember more of this besides that I loved it. My notes simply say “Beautiful. Dreamy” (thanks old me, super helpful). But I love this author, so I can at least promise it’s a very well written fic!

a million roses (bathed in rock n' roll) by deLILAh (E, 30K) Honestly so lovely. I love how the author jumps through time, highlighting moments. I love how their relationship grows and matures. It’s just a really satisfying read.

Escapade by doce_piccante (M, 146K) I know, I know. This fic really doesn’t need more recs –– everyone knows this one. But it is a pretty perfect fake relationship AU. In particular, the hate to love chemistry of the main characters is done really, really well, the smut is super sexy, and it’s a really fun read.

my heart is breathing for this moment in time by usedtothebeach (E, 160K) Probably my absolute favorite time travel fic. I’ve read it more times than I’d like to admit, and every time I love it more. One of the things I like most is how organically the author weaves in canon events…every little moment is an easter egg without it being so obvious that it pulls you out of the fic. Anyway, this one is so moving and so absorbing, I hope you like it if you give it a try! There’s an 18K companion piece to it as well, but you’ll see the link when you’re reading the main fic.
