my favorite part of watching older anime series is when you get to the episode where they finally update the aspect ratio to fit more modern wide screens because it makes me feel like i travelled back in time because i see it and go :0!!! holy shit!!! look at how big that screen is!! despite most things i watch already having a modern widescreen aspect ratio

When thinking of your trademark in your writing, I think it is the way you go into details and paint a picture for the mind's eye. The way you balance descriptive imaginations and realistic detailing is just very captivating.
Your art has a funky loose feel to the lining that just feels fitting to the enigma that is your brain, too full to truly poor it all out onto the paper no matter how hard you try. But boi do we love the attempts that give us any slightest peek into that brilliant mind of yours.
You clearly don't draw or write without thinking it over thoroughly.
Bwaaaaaaaa
Tumblr media
Thank u! that's super sweet of you to say.
I do tend to overthink a lot of things.
I'm not very good at making like... Outlines or roughs of poses. I very rarely make base outlines, like I usually just start drawing and the rough sketch becomes the final lineart. So I often rely super heavily on references when I draw. For some reason over my 28 plus years of drawing, I never really gotten a grasp on how the torso, legs and fingers all really connect and form one entity. I know I could try with enough discipline and practice, as art is a skill. So I have this weird blend of like... Super confident lines, but not knowing how a torso, shoulders and legs connect which make a really interesting balance, and leads to things like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I can always see the framework of what I want, especially when little reference is used, but it really seems like nothing connects. Like the understanding of SHAPES is there, but not the understanding of how they are coherent together, if that makes sense? And you can kinda see that in my more high profile art, but I feel there was a period where It did click and I understood how it all connected but I forgot it all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like at some point, with these two, (rest in peace. the ship tag has not been updated since I left the naruto fandom) around 2019 I was getting it! Like I felt I was really getting it, Like I MADE THESE!!!! but then I kinda forgot it all. Like I still didn't use a base outline for these and did rely on heavy references, but I feel I was getting a grasp on shading and autonomy and how the human body works and fits together. And then it... Just kinda vanished from my brain, and I regressed to a more chibi simple art style. Either because it was easier, or because I was experiencing more chronic pain in my back and hand.
At the end of the day, I think my art style regressed a lot due to lack of practice, and lack of encouragement from outside sources besides the internet likes and reblogs like RL friends or Family. That, and I feel my attention span and patience for things has just gotten worse as I've gotten older. I'm guessing my Dad's death had a lot to do with that. As, I am over the loss of my Dad as a person. but mentally, I am not over coming the fact that mortality is very fleeting. You think I would spend most of my time living life to the fullest. But that isn't the case. I kinda feel like I've been stuck in that "What is the point of anything if anyone can die suddenly without warning for any reason" Stage of grief that I have NEVER really got over.
Needless to say my Dad suddenly dying with no warning due to a ruptured aurora was just something everyone was unprepared for. He wasn't sick from an illness, no one knew he was in poor health. It wasn't even a car accident. Like he just suddenly died cus part of his heart exploded essentially.
I mean, I know I rarely talk about it, other then mentioning "My Dad died Eight years ago. Haha I'm over it tho, it was awhile ago"
And, While I think I'm over it in the sense with, I'm at peace with always missing him a little bit, and don't think about him constantly... I'm not over it in the sense of how fragile mortality is and how it can be taken away. For no just cause or reason.
I guess I'm over it, in that I'm over that my Dad, the person is dead. I am NOT over the fact of HOW he died. And I think it'll be a long time till I cross that hurtle.
And yeah, that's a heavy part of life, that we all get old and die one day, but some people don't even get to grow old. you think it would make me more.... "make time with what you have, enjoy what you like."
but if anything, it makes me more fearful in "what is the point of doing anything if I were to die tomorrow, what have I done. Folks will miss me, sure. But I will still be gone." So then I just end up doing nothing for long periods of time, and that's mostly why my art skills suffer because I don't see the point of doing a discipline or working towards any goal whatsoever. And I'm just going through the motions. And yeah, sometimes, I will be super productive and be happy and do a lot of things for a bit, but they're always short lived moments and it's hard to stick to things.
Looool sorry if that's all just too heavy.
Oh, if this sounds too complaining... Or "pity party. Woe is me, Dana is Depressed again" ahahahah. Like, that's not the point of this. I mean, it's my blog and I can talk about my feelings I guess, and I feel that Depression, even before my Dad's death impacted my art journey. So I'm still trying to struggle to remain consistent in my endeavors.
Or I could just be lazy. XD That too. XD
Anyways... Moving on in terms of my writing style, that's very nice of you to say.
I am a deep appreciator of inner monologues if it wasn't obvious. I like to dissect what characters are thinking and I sometimes feel I overdo it, and justify every single action and breath they take by getting so close in their own head that there's hardly any breathing room for error.
But I just write how I tend to think in terms of Overthinking, so I don't think I've ever written a character from a close third person (or first person) perspective that hasn't overthought every action before they speak.
But usually within the context of the story, their inner monologue spanning 20 pages actually takes place in the span of less then a few seconds.
I don't think I could write from Bob's POV if I tried. He's a man of action rather then overthinking. And if I held his hand as a third person narrator, he would sho me off and do his own thing gladly without my interference. XD
Anyways. Didn't mean to get so venty on this ask.
Thank you so much for the lovely compliment. Also some insight into my process I guess. XD

BNHA: Kakashi dimension hops crossover (6)
Summary: Kakashi gets dumbed into the My Hero Academia universe through random plot devise.
Characters:  Kakashi Hatake
Fandoms: My Hero Academia and Naruto
WARNINGS: Mentions of violence/injury
START  / PREV / NEXT
As predicted, the day following the seal’s application is miserable. His chest is tight with almost anxiety, pins and needles run up and down his arms making his skin itch, and he is increasingly lethargic. All symptoms of a chakra imbalance and to be expected when one’s normal chakra replacement rate was thrown out. The sensations would pass once his body adjusted as they had with his sharingan.
He is eating three square meals a day, doing the bare minimum when it came to exercise routines and avoiding excess chakra use. It had been literal years since he had had this much bed rest. If he were ever going to slap a chakra collecting seal on himself, this was a perfect time. Okay, so maybe he should have steadily increased the chakra drain over the course of a few weeks for a smoother adjustment period. Hindsight and all that.
What mattered was that he would be fine, and he just had to wait it out. Bright side? No one had commented on the seal yet. Oh, he has definitely noticed serval people throwing the odd confused frown at his shoulder, but that was as far as anyone had gone in acknowledging it. His oh so clever strategy of acting like nothing was wrong worked so much better when he wasn’t surrounded by other shinobi and medic-nin.
“Your blood pressure is still too high. Are you sure you haven’t been experiencing any additional fatigue or other symptoms? Is something about the hospital causing additional stress? If there is something wrong, we should work on strategies to fix the problem.”
Well… it worked on everyone who wasn’t Wada. The man was irritatingly persistent in his doctoring. Apparently, the pressure of adjusting to an increased chakra drain wasn’t doing his body any favours.
“Maybe it’s a part of my quirk. High regeneration. High blood pressure.” Kakashi shrugs loosely not bothering to look up from HEROES and HEROINES May Issue. Unlike his previous reading material, people gave him odd looks when they saw him reading these magazines which immediately upped their entertainment value 100-fold.
Wada undoes the compression sleeve he had been using to measure Kakashi’s blood pressure, lecturing as he goes, “From what I can tell your cells produce more energy-rich molecules, ATP, NADH, then is typical, increasing cellular functions. Where your cells are getting the energy to produce these molecules, I have no idea seeing as you eat about the same amount as any baseline human. What I can safely say is that it should not influence your blood pressure. If anything, your blood pressure should be a bit lower than average. Now don’t dodge the question.”
He pauses, waiting for Kakashi to cave and suddenly confess. Kakashi, an old hat at dodging medical questions, continues reading unperturbed.
“I’ve been at this for over 30 years. An attack like the one you suffered is understandably traumatic, not to mention the stress of severe amnesia. I’m sure, whatever is bothering you, I’ve heard it before.”
Kakashi very much doubts that. “I feel fine.”
Wada huffs, unconvinced, “Young men. You all think that admitting you have a problem is a sign of weakness. High blood pressure can damage your heart and lead to problems  later in life so finding the cause is important.” Good thing a shinobi life spans tended to max out around 30. The odds of him making it to an age where he’d have to worry about the long-term effects of anything were pretty low. He doesn’t voice this opinion, continuing to read.
Wada continues talking with greater gusto, “No matter, I’ll prescribe you something for stress hopefully that’ll help with your blood pressure. However, this is no replacement for healthy habits both physical and mental. You should consider professional therapy.”
Kakashi snorts. Yeah, that sounds about right.
“Oh, you think that’s funny do you,” Wada makes to grab HEROES and HEROIENS and he lets the doctor pull the magazine free from his hand. It gives him a good view of the man’s irate expression.
“No, of course not.” Kakashi attempts to placate and gets a light smack over the head with said magazine for his troubles.
“There is no shame in pursuing a healthy mind!”
“Weren’t we going to test my quirk today?” He complains to derail the current line of questioning.
“I have half a mind to put it off and have you rest another week,” is threatened before Wada’s stern expression relaxes, “Lucky for you, I’ve booked you into serval tests that can’t be rescheduled.”
Kakashi breaths out dramatically. He thinks Wada might have made a good medic-nin if he had lived in Konoha. Sure, he is a little too trusting, but he was also not above pestering his patients into taking better care of themselves. Sakura would approve.
The doctor, with the assistance of an attending nurse he hadn’t bothered to learn the name of, helps Kakashi out of his bed and into a wheelchair, ignoring his protests about his leg being all but healed.
“You’re to avoid putting weight on it until you start physical therapy,” Wada snaps at his continued complaints, “You’ll need to be careful, extended bed rest and surgery can leave your muscles weakened. Also, leave that magazine behind. You’re doing eye tests when do you think you’ll have time to read!”
Kakashi doesn’t push the matter further, resigning himself to being wheeled down the hospital halls like the invalid he was pretending to be. It is not like Wada knew about his frequent excursions to the roof or the fact that he has been running through strengthening exercises on his own time for several weeks now.  Best he keeps that information to himself.
Partway down the hall, he pulls out HEROES and HEROIENS from where he had slipped it into his shirt, enjoying Wada’s exasperated expression. Of course, he stops reading when the doctor threatens to start lecturing again. The man could definitely talk when given the chance.
Wada and the nurse take wheel him to a set of double-door elevators which take them down several floors below the ground level. The hallway they exit of a mirror of every other hospital hallway. Grey and white walls, pale blue lino floor and bright fluorescent overhead lights. The only difference is that this hallway is lined with heavy-looking metal doors. From snooping through patient files, he knows that all quirk tests are carried out in specially designated underground ‘safety rooms.’ That doesn't make him any more thrilled about being several stories underground. It cut down on his escape roots.
“These are some of the more secure recovery wards in the hospital,” Wada explains as their little group stops at a small reception desk where the doctor taps away at a computer screen, “they’re mostly for treating patients with unstable quirks.” Kakashi maintains a neutral expression, accepting the explanation.
Wada wheels him up to a steel door, swiping his ID card which also doubled as a key to many areas of the hospital. The heavy door is automated and slides open. A lot of the doors in the hospital operate this way and always made sneaking around slightly more troublesome.
Inside walls and floor are plain white and there is an odd number of tables and chairs pushed to one side out of the way. Everything stinks of disinfectant. On the far wall is a single solitary painting of a tree in a field, the only splash of colour in an otherwise depressingly sparse room. A poor attempt at living up the space. The opposite wall sports a rectangular, reflective surface which was probably some sort of observation booth. Well, if being underground hadn’t put him on edge, this obvious confinement room definitely did the job. Kakashi eyes the space. Worse comes to worst, he could use the kamui and remove the adjoining hallway wall then climb his way out through the elevator shaft. There are only two other people in the room with him and one woman at the reception desk, all were most likely unenhanced with quirks unsuited to combat, easily removed.  He doesn’t let his body language reflect his unease. He is just a little on edge because the new seal is messing with his body’s natural homeostasis. If this is a trap there would have been other signs of deception before now.
“Yes, I know it might seem like a whole lot of fuss just to run through a few flashcards,” Wada comments, oblivious to Kakashi’s poor mood. He waves to his assisting nurse who wheels over and lowers one of the metallic tables so Kakashi doesn’t have to move from his wheelchair. “But it’s a standard safety procedure when an unknown quirk is involved. Trust me, this is a lot easier than travelling to an external testing range.”
Wada stops to give Kakashi a once over, frowning, “How much do you know about your quirk sub-type?”
Kakashi shrugs, “Nothing much.”
“Ah,” The doctor’s frown grows, and he grimaces, “Of course you don’t.” A sigh.
“Typically, ocular quirks will act to enhanced sight in some way or improve base level memorisation and recall ability. It is also common to have a replicating function, allowing the user to produce some sort of copy of things they see. In rarer cases, ocular quirks result in precognitive abilities.” Wada explanation falters, “They can also have a line-of-sight emitter effect, such as laser vision, optical blasts, a few instances of mind control and other mental effects. These can also be incredibly dangerous if the user isn’t in control. There have even been instances where whole buildings have been levelled.”
“I see.”  He supposes Wada's irritation at this private 'quirk' testing made a bit more sense. A doctor faced with an unknown and possibly dangerous ability would be annoyed if said patient went about experimenting without taking safety precautions.
“I should have checked whether you knew the dangers instead of just assuming. Apologies. That is my own error.”
He peers at Kakashi, almost guilty now, “and you don’t have a phone either so there would have been no way for you to research quirks yourself.”
“Ah,” Kakashi rubs the back of his head not likening how torn up the other man seems to be seeing as Kakashi had ever been in any real danger. “Don’t worry about it,” he reassures.
His reassurances land flat, the doctor still frowning, “I’ll see if I can get you access to the internet somehow.”
Privately, Kakashi adds 'research' to the list of functions ‘phones’ apparently provided and 'internet' to his growing list of terms to investigate.
Wada sighs again. “Regardless, let’s get these tests done first.” He places a thick folder labelled National Standard for Registration: Kit Type 3 alongside one of those portable keyboard-less computers the doctors tended to carry around.  “Hold on, been a while since I’ve done one of these. Need to find the rights files. Ah, here we go. First, these rooms are monitored, and all tests are recorded. The data collected is confidential, accessible only to the patient and physician unless doing so causes the patent harm. Information regarding quirk function and use is shared with the Registry Office. You have a right to stop testing at any point. You got that?”
Kakashi grunts, his already poor mood souring further. He is not sure he wants the hospital - or anyone - keeping records of anything sharingan related.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” Wada continues unperturbed, a testament to his serval weeks of trying to doctor Kakashi, “remember to let me know if you’re experiencing any discomfort. Don’t want you busting anymore blood vessels.
Kakashi lets out a tired breath, “Sure.” The sooner they left this room the better.
“We’ll test memory and vision first to compare to your baseline, then we’ll run through the replication and precognitive tests just in case.”
The nurse, who had been on the opposite side of the room waves, “All ready over here.” There is now a large poster with letters of varying sizes hung on the wall. He recognises the chart from his previous eye tests.
“Okay, let’s start with just uncovering it. Make sure you’re looking away from me as a precaution.”
Kakashi resists rolling his non- sharingan eye at the obvious instruction, shifting his attention to the poster on the wall. He flips his padded eyepatch up with his index finger so it partially rests on his forehead. All the letters, no matter the size, immediately snap into sharp focus. Nothing spontaneously combusts under his gaze. When he glances at the painting of the tree, he can now see a lack of brush texture, suggesting that it wasn’t a painting but a print of some sort. With that useless information now forever etched into his memory, he turns back to examine at Wada.
The sharingan picks out all the wrinkles and pores lining the older face. It focuses in on minuscule muscle movements as the man’s expression shifts from professional and accommodating to curious. The doctor’s fingers twitch ever so slightly over his computer. Most likely an unconscious habit. The man’s breath is slightly uneven like his chest can’t smoothly expand, suggesting some sort of lung problem. A past smoking habit perhaps? Nothing threatening is revealed.
“Doctor.” Kakashi prompts when Wada spends a little too long staring back at him. The sharingun did have a weak hypnotic effect, encouraging extended eye contact to help catch targets in genjutsu. Kakashi rarely uncovered his eye in the presence of civilians so he doesn’t know if the effect is more pronounced or if Wada is just curious.
Wada blinks, “Well…I certainly see where the ‘wheel’ description comes from.” He spends a second more staring then turns to start writing notes and tapping away at his computer screen. “I wonder if those spinning tomoe are purely cosmetic or if they have some other function because they are certainly fascinating to look at. There is also faint bioluminescence to the eye which is a common feature of ocular quirks…”
Honestly, the blatant eye contact is weird. Even his closest allies tended to avoid looking at his sharingan out of habit - expect for Naruto who was an outlier in almost everything - for understandable reasons. He thinks the people here would also exercise caution if an ocular abilities included mind control or exploding a person through eye contact. But no, Wada just goes right ahead and stares. A few seconds later and the unnamed nurse is also looking curiously at his eye. … …
Aside from redoing a standard eye exam, Kakashi runs through a marathon of flashcards to test both his memory and then precognitive abilities. The tests are done with lights on then in the dark and Kakashi is given a perfect 20/20 and an enhancement score of ‘15 grades above average’ for both. There are also several pages worth of words and numbers in progressively complex arrangements to test his information retention. Of course, everything is easily remembered with the sharingun active.
“Well, it seems to give general across the board vision enhancement alongside perfect recall and retention,” Wada finally concludes as he records all Kakashi’s results, “Of course, we’ll have to re-test retention in a few days so see if the information degrades over an extended period and we don’t know whether your quirk effects your long distance eyesight, but, for now, this appears to be all. The link between your quirked eye and the regenerative side-effect is still unknown. Odd that we couldn’t trigger any ‘copy’ function considering the quirks name though  ‘copy’ could also be a reference to memorisation.  If any other features do reveal themselves make sure you alert a medical professional.”
… …
Kakashi despises the process of getting an MRI with a heated passion. He hates having to lie prone in a loud confined space. It is the height of discomfort, making him tense up and clench his jaw. It is only the fact that Kakashi had researched and mentally prepared himself for the experience that stops him from accidentally snapping someone’s neck.
“We’ll have the results back in a few days,” Wada informs once the trying ordeal is over with, “From there we’ll update the Registry so you’re properly in the system. Speaking of which, have you made any progress on remembering a surname? I need something for the forms.”
“Hatake,” he grunts, too irritated to bother evading - he just wants to return to his room and wait out the side effects of his seal in peace- the question like he had every other time the man asked, “I think I prefer Kakashi though.”
It wasn’t like the name meant anything here and, who knows, maybe someone would come looking for him. This way they would have a trail to follow.

Harper’s 2020 Fic Wrap-Up
my very good friend and incredibly talented felow writer @sagemoderocklee came up with the idea of doing an end of the year fic wrapup in an attempt to polish the turd known as 2020, and since i actually managed to get some writing done this year i figured, why not jump on the bandwagon?
a lot of super duper fucking shitty things happened in 2020, but i will always be proud that in this incredibly chaotic, stressful, and challenging year i managed to produce almost 180k of content (and that’s not even counting the writing i started in 2020 but haven’t published yet). so, to celebrate what’s been a pretty big achievement for me, i wanted to go through the various projects i’ve spent the last twelve months working on and give a preview of my plans for 2021.
let’s jump in!
projects i worked on/completed in 2020:
first off, let’s start with the beast to end all beasts, my personal baby, and honestly probably the reason most people follow me -- star trek au:
something bigger than the sky (shiita; 44,163 words; completed):
i’ve said this before, but the whole idea for star trek au was literally just a joke between me and my-then girlfriend, now-fiancee, and eternal shiita enabler alexa aka @durintrash (by the way, if you follow me for my fics and you DON’T follow alexa for her corresponding art WHAT, exactly, are you doing with your life????) where i sat in a space-themed diner and said ‘haha imagine itachi as a vulcan.’ but then i blinked and suddenly somehow i’d written the prologue and the first chapter of SBTTS in the span of a week. it’s like i was possessed by a fanfic demon.
it sounds super cheesy but i honestly can’t say enough how important this fic has been to me and how much it’s pushed me to be a more productive and more dedicated writer. previously i spent a lot of time Thinking about writing and occasionally i’d put a few words on the page and then i’d go... do... something... else. but star trek au was the first idea i loved enough that it actually pushed me to write and keep writing and not give up even when i was confronted with things like writer’s block and worry over the quality of my writing. so thank you, star trek au, for being the light in a very dark year for me.
by the end of SBTTS, i felt like i accomplished everything i wanted to do with the story’s beginning installment: i introduced all the characters and set the groundwork for their development; i showed what life on the corvus was like and how starfleet, the federation, and the universe functioned; and, more than anything, i was able to sketch out both the main protagonists -- itachi and shisui -- with all their strengths and flaws, show their relationship to one another, and hint at how that relationship would progress.
all the stars are closer (shiita; 75,195 words; completed)
considering how slow i used to be at writing, i thought it would be, like, twelve years before i managed to get to the second part in the series. BUT then covid happened and i half-lost, half-quit my job, and like a lot of people this year i ended up with a lot of free time on my hands. and so, like a fucking demon, i finished this part in two and a half months.
when i originally planned this part out, i really thought it would be a lot shorter and a lot lighter atmosphere-wise than it turned out. instead, this second section of the story ended up being pretty meaty in terms of length and in subject.
that said, overall, i’m really happy with how ATSAC turned out. i loved the way the characters progressed, how the relationships deepened, and how we were able to see this universe grow bigger and more complicated. and i’m very satisifed with how it set the stage for part three, which takes us to...
lovers alone wear sunlight (shiita; 41,518 words; in progress)
there’s... a lot about this part that i just can’t talk about yet, a) because it isn’t finished and b) because it contains some of the biggest plot points in the entire series thus far. if you’ve been keeping up with the stardates thus far (which i encourage you to do!) you know what part three is leading up to: itachi leaving the corvus and the dissolution of shisui and itachi’s growing relationship.
with that in mind, i’m... more than a little terrified about writing part three, which is why the third chapter has been languishing in my google drive for months now. (and also why i started not one, but TWO new fics to cope with my writer’s block. whoops.) chapter three is where all the parts come together and shit hits the fan, and i can only hope that everyone will be as excited to read it as i am to publish it.
next up, the two other projects i began this year:
salvation comes only in our dreams (shiita; canon divergence; 16,835 words; in progress)
for a long time, i’ve wanted to write something that’s actually set in the naruto universe and works to correct a lot of the flaws that i see in the series. there are a lot of things that bother me about naruto, but i think one of the things that frustrates me the most is the really messy and in some ways offensive resolution to the uchiha coup plot thread, and i wanted to write a story that dealt with the complicated themes of the series--imperialism, oppression, genocide, child soldiers--but, like, didn’t suck and completely drop the ball. thus, the massacre au was born.
my main goal was to tell a story that showed a lot of these characters in ways we’ve never seen them before, specifically itachi. i didn’t want to write itachi as just an idealist who suffers and Suffers AND SUFFERS for konoha yet still remains loyal to the village for some unfathomable reason like he is in the series. i wanted to write an itachi that was sharper, more jaded, and more suspicious of the world around him, but overall was still a good person with a kind heart. and for shisui, well... obviously there’s a lot going on there, too.
this is easily the darkest story i’ve ever written, and as the plot thickens it will certainly get darker with relationship dynamics that are complicated and unhealthy At Best. i hope that as the story goes on it’s a ride people continue to enjoy, as i was super pleasantly surprised at how popular this fic became (compared to my usual stats, at least)
oceans between us (shiita; alternate universe; 15,039 words; in progress)
it’s good to know that i continue to be the most ridiculously niche version of myself as yes, i wrote a fucking shiita atonement au.
with each fic i write i try to have a very specific voice that suits the particular piece and distinguishes it from other stories that include the same characters. for example, star trek au chapters tend to be more fun and light-hearted (especially shisui POV chapters) and lean more into the action movie and sci-fi adventure feel of the star trek universe, while the massacre au is written in a way that’s much heavier and guided by itachi’s emotions and experiences. my main goal with this story was to give it the same romantic, operatic, almost hazy quality that the movie has, which reflects the period setting and also the nature of this grand tragic love story.
i knew from the beginning that there were going to be a lot of things that i cut from the film in my retelling, like the lola subplot and obviously the setting of pre-wwii england. i also knew i wanted to explore some of the aspects of the film that were implied more than outright stated, like the themes of classism and upper-class privileges. and more than anything i wanted to structure this piece around this idea of tension building and building until it finally snaps and there’s just a world of mess and hurt and loss that affects these two characters in two very different ways.
also, the sex scene. i haven’t written a sex scene for anything in, like, a decade, so that was a lot of pressure. but i’m happy with how it came out and i think it ended up being an aspect of the story that felt like both a natural progression and necessary to show the affection these two people have for one another.
originally i was just going to end the story with shisui going to jail, but when i told alexa this i genuinely thought she was going to kill me. so, that didn’t happen lmao. but the more i tried to imagine what a second chapter would look like, the more i realized she was right, and it would have been a terrible idea to end the fic there. as for whether or not the final chapter will keep That Ending... who can say?
goals i have for 2021:
finishing lovers alone wear sunlight and, if i’m very lucky, beginning the fourth and second to last part of star trek au (yes, as it currently stands this 160k+ word series is only halfway finished. sorry not sorry)
publishing the next chapter of salvation comes only in our dreams (i don’t know when it will drop. i don’t know anything about this fic. please do not @ me)
completing oceans between us (the second and final chapter is currently sitting at about 4k words and will probably end up at about 15k in total)
completing and publishing a new fic i’ve started at the very end of 2020, which is the shiita jurassic world au nobody but me and alexa knew they wanted. it’s essentially a 90s romcom with dinosaurs and i cannot Wait to share it. (it’s at about 9k right now and will probably end up being around 20k to 23k in total... maybe...)
FINALLY starting my dream project: the shiita olympics au i’ve been planning for years, where itachi is a figure skater and shisui is a hockey player (i’d like to keep this under 150k but at this point trying to keep my stories at a managable word count is a losing battle)
anyway, that’s it! if you managed to get this far in this very self-indulgent and shameless bit of self promotion, congrats! also, a very big thank you to everyone who’s read my fics, left me kudos and comments, and spent their time on my work, because it really does mean the world to me.
here’s hoping 2021 is a much healthier and happier year for us all!

A New Possession- Entry #12
Another day, another filler entry...
Well it isn't just another day really. It's actually Independence day in my country. But to me it feels like an ordinary day in 2020. Switching between playing Persona 3 and checking my phone for another update on the current horror story that is the United States response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Or some more unsurprising evidence about how corrupt the police system is in the country. Or overall how embarrassing it is to be an American in this time in history.
I had to cancel an upcoming flight to visit my out of state sister, but on the bright side, I still kept my days off from work. Away from the same shift dealing with conspiring coworkers that brush off the severity of the issue and a good percentage of customers that don't wear masks. I got a full week off of work, but that week is soon to end in 3 days, and I am dreading my return as the situation in my state gets worse by the day. But I figured that with this day off, I should probably do some writing.
Enough of my clamoring over my current situation, now to today's entry

February 20th
This afternoon marked the first meeting of the former “Team 7” since the year’s beginning.
And what I mean by that is a chance for just the three of us to privately update each other on the current status of our lives at Naruto’s only place of business, Ichiraku. This in fact, is a special occurrence that doesn’t happen too often.
What I’ve learned about normal adulthood is that it is increasingly more challenging to get into contact with your friends, a case I currently find myself in.
I don’t by any means miss the person I was 2 years ago, nor the state the world itself was in. But I kind of miss the accessibility I had to my peers; my teammates in particular. In those days it was typical to find Naruto haunting Ichiraku or to encounter Sakura at the library. During my time balancing my duty to ROOT against missions with team 7, I was left with little off time.
The personal schedule of a shinobi is never consistent, comprised of missions that can span from a few days in length to a maximum of many months. And while multiple factors depended on such time spans, you could never predict when a C ranked mission suddenly escalates into one that was equal to that of an A ranked mission, prolonging the ordeal to an immeasurable period of time.
This occurrence isn’t as frequent as before, but it is still possible given that our “clean up” efforts thus far have been quite messy.
Therefore, my schedule since ROOT’s disbandment has left me with more freetime, but everyone else now has their time tied up. Even more so with Naruto now that he was in the middle of wedding preparations. He took every opportunity he could to complain about said preparations.
“The Hyuuga clan is making all of the plans, but I still have to sit at every long and boring meeting, you know?”
Meanwhile, Sakura could only be found buried in her work at the hospital and was never seen anywhere else in the village. Ino claims that they meet for lunch often, but Ino has explained to me in much detail about how she is “a special case” when it came to Sakura. The explanation itself was a little too lengthy for my preference over the simple fact that she was more available for Sakura since she sometimes took shifts at the hospital.
It was pleasant to see them again. Naruto complained about the pressures of his upcoming wedding and Sakura continued to pester me about my volunteer work at the children’s center.
“It’s hard to schedule an appointment when I’m just so busy.”
Sakura would begrudgingly accept my excuse with what I believed to be a teasing remark
“Everyone is just so busy! I’ll accept that...for now. But I better catch you there soon. I’ll even make sure that Ino’s snout is on your trail as well.”
Naruto would then begin to laugh while I smile constantly at another successful positive interaction.
It was an enjoyable gathering to say the least. Up until the point when we ran out of conversation topics and resorted to the typical lull of small talk.
“Any word from Sasuke?”
“Nope.”
“Any new missions?”
“Nothing I can disclose to you.”
“Any more wedding details?”
“I can hardly pay attention in those meetings.”
And with that concluded our rare meeting. What was a small portion of today can actually go on to bring me a feeling of joy for the rest of the week. Especially as I am about to  embark to investigate another case of Kakashi’s suspicions.
The talk we had also served as another gruesome reminder of how active Naruto and Sakura’s lives really are in the grand scheme of things. Naruto is barreling towards a new stage in the life of the human being, with the companionship that is said to come with marriage. And although Sakura is constantly waiting for Sasuke’s return, it was only a matter of time until he did return to “pick things up” where she said they left on.
And all I can do is sit there and nod my head all the while doing the same thing I’ve always done for as long as I can remember.
And I still don’t know how to feel about that.
________________________________________________________
And with that is another 700 word entry. Not as large as the previous ones, but we are leading up to bigger things soon enough.
Surprise surprise!
I'm not sure if you caught that, (I'm sure you didn't, but that's okay I'm about to tell you) but this entry actually concludes the 2 month period of supplement entries and we will finally cover the events of the Sakura novel!
I actually prefer this novel over the Shikamaru novel purely for the moments between Sai and Ino that seem more genuine and actually showcase their dynamic, which is what I love to see and will love to portray soon.
Anyway, I appreciate the increasing support on this story. It's been an interesting and bumpy ride so far, but I do appreciate ya'll who have stuck with me since the beginning. And I also appreciate newcomers who have also read my most recent one shot, "Newlyweds" which is separated from this. Probably the most fluffy thing I've written thus far and it still manages to be depressing.
I guess that's my motto right now.
Again, thanks for the support. And as always, comments and criticism is welcome.
See ya,
-Saikage

ʜᴇᴀᴅᴄᴀɴᴏɴ. Gaara: family and the timeline that created a monster. (Under cut for length)
Tumblr media
          TIMELINE.
Tumblr media
I feel like this one needs to be discussed first in order to put some things in perspective. One of Rasa’s first orders as Kazekage was to turn his son into a monster and have his wife killed in the process, and it is all Sasori’s fault.
Obviously my timeline above isn’t “To Scale”, but it shows the general idea of what I’m trying to show. We know that Sasori was born 20 years before the start of the series, and 5 years before Gaara was born (as well as Naruto and the rest of that generation) he also left the village for good. However, we also know that the Sandaime Kazekage was still in power when Sasori left.
Sasori didn’t leave with the Sandaime Kazekage’s body, he returned for it later. The Sandaime Kazekage was in power at least 5 years prior to Gaara’s birth. Chiyo states that it was “over” ten years since the Sandaime disappeared in chapter 267.
Tumblr media
So that gives us a ten year period in which Sasori could have kidnapped and killed the Sandaime, right? Well, yes and no. We already know that Rasa was in power at the time Gaara was born, so from 0 to 5 the Sandaime Kazekage was already gone and in Sasori’s collection. It’s from -5 to 0 that the Sandaime was actually killed, and more than likely it took Sasori two or three years to start collecting puppets en masse and to turn himself into a human puppet in order to defeat the Sandaime to begin with. In reality we’re working with a two or three year time span in which power was switched from the Sandaime to Rasa.
However, there’s also the matter of when the council finally decided that the Sandaime was gone long enough to pass the title on. Was it just a year? Two? It is impossible to actually tell, but since the Sandaime was regarded as Suna’s strongest Kage in history, of course they would want to wait as long as possible in hopes that he would return and not make it appear that Sunagakure was so weak as to have their own Kazekage leave of his own volition. (Remember, no one knew the Sandaime’s fate until Chiyo saw what Sasori had done to him.)
From the two to three year time period, the Council taking their time to decide whether or not they want to consider the Sandaime dead, and then passing on the title – now we’re only working with about a ONE YEAR PERIOD in which Rasa would have been placed into power.
Karura could have easily been pregnant by then, or at least had just gotten pregnant. We know that Gaara was born extremely prematurely, so there’s also the possibility that she wasn’t, but… Its still an extremely short amount of time from Rasa’s indoctrination into power and him making the decision to seal Shukaku into Gaara.
Essentially, the decision to turn Gaara into a jinchuuriki and endanger the life of Karura could have easily been one of the first that he made as the Yondaime Kazekage.
What could have prevented all this? Sasori not having killed the Sandaime.
This also explains why it was Gaara who became Shukaku’s host and not Temari or Kankurou. Rasa didn’t have the authority then to make that decision. There also wasn’t a need to create a new jinchuuriki until the title of Kazekage was passed down to Rasa because the Sandaime was powerful enough on his own.
          FAMILY.
According to the novels, specifically Gaara Hiden, the Kazekage lineage is determined by blood. Meaning, a Kazekage is directly related to the previous Kazekage, and that Kazekage directly related to the one before that, etc. So, for example, if Gaara had not become Kazekage the Council would have likely made Kankurou take the position even if Kankurou denied it, which he did. (Its entirely likely the only reason they allowed Gaara to become Kazekage was because his ability with sand was similar to that of Rasa’s (and the Sandaime’s) Magnet Release, since none of the Sand Siblings inherited the ability as far as the Council knew. This also implies the Kazekage’s bloodline is the ONLY bloodline in Sunagakure with the Magnet Release ability.)
That being said, it is entirely plausible (and more than likely exactly the case) that Rasa is the Sandaime Kazekage’s son, making the Sandaime Gaara’s grandfather. As discussed above, it isn’t unreasonable to assume that Rasa was given the title of Kazekage soon after Sandaime’s disappearance, probably at about 20 since I’ve always considered Sandaime to be in his 40′s when he was killed. And we all know Rasa’s story. Besides, shinobi during that time would have wanted to pass on powerful genes, ESPECIALLY Kekkei Genkai, in order to keep their village strong. Having multiple children was almost a requirement for them.
Anyway – that leaves a question as to where Shinki’s Kekkei Genkai came from. Since the implication the novel gave made it out that only those related to the Kazekage have the Magnet Release ability, Shinki would have to be related to at least one of the Kazekage that have the Magnet Release, so either Sandaime or Rasa since the Shodai or Nidaime haven’t been confirmed to have that ability.
Considering the importance of the Magnet Release ability to Sunagakure it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that the Council pushed the Kazekage to have more than one child in order to have a higher chance of passing the ability on. That brings in the possibility of Rasa having siblings that more than likely didn’t gain the ability (who are therefore useless and/or died in the war). We can see with the Sand Siblings the low chance of a Kekkei Genkai being passed on – only one out of the three gained it. However, just because that child didn’t gain the ability doesn’t mean they don’t have the means to have the genes for one to pass on to a child.
Shinki could very well be a somewhat distant cousin of Gaara whose parents were killed for some reason or another. We see in the anime that Gaara rescued Shinki after his Magnet Release was out of control. Upon looking into the child further both he and the Council probably realized they were distantly related. Allowing Gaara to adopt Shinki as his own would immediately remove the burden of Gaara having children that still had the Kekkei Genkai that Suna is famous for (the Council doesn’t know Gaara possesses it, either) and also remove the need for a traditional marriage. Of course, all of this doesn’t mean Gaara thinks of Shinki as anything less than his son.
Here’s a quick picture of how it probably looks in a family tree, just to make it easier to see how they are probably related.
Tumblr media
Regardless, this is just pulling from canon material in order to form my own theories.

[ 365 Days of SasuHina || Day One Hundred Eighty-Four: Pretending ] [ Uchiha Sasuke, Hyūga Hinata, Uzumaki Naruto ] [ SasuHina ] [ Verse: Best Years of Your Life ] [ AO3 Link ]
Okay...this shouldn’t be too hard. Just play it cool - not too forward, he might suspect that. But also blunt enough even Naruto can’t mistake it. Once he gets his point across, he’s sure the blond will spread the news like wildfire.
And that’s exactly what Sasuke wants.
Making his way into his first period class - one he just so happens to share with Naruto - he takes his seat and just...waits.
Soon enough, in storms the Uzumaki like a tornado, just like every other morning. “Hey!”
“Hey.”
Sitting in the desk in front of Sasuke, Naruto pauses...and then squints. “...what’s with that look?”
“Look?” Heh, perfect. Of course the blond is familiar enough with his mannerisms to notice.
“Yeah, you’re all…” His nose wrinkles. “...grinny. What’s going on?”
“I dunno what you’re talking about, Naruto.”
“No, really! You’re...smiling. It’s weirding me out, man.”
“What, I’m not allowed to be happy?”
“Well, no! But…” Naruto looks to him skeptically. “...did something happen?”
“Like what?”
“I dunno! Is your brother coming home for a visit?”
“Mm, no.”
“Uh…” A hand itches at his neck. “...didja ace a test?”
“I do that all the time.”
“...true.” Curling a first under his chin, Naruto squints. “...this is buggin’ the heck outta me! What did you do?!”
“I didn’t do anything.”
“Then why are you smiling like that?!”
“Maybe I’m just happy. That ever cross your mind?”
“Nah, there’s gotta be a reason. There’s gotta be…” Examining his friend closely, Naruto’s lips purse, eyes nearly closed as he scrutinizes him. “...d’ya get a girlfriend or something?”
At that, the pretending starts. Expression shifting to mild shock for a moment, Sasuke then glances away. “...why would I do that?”
A knowing glint shines in Naruto’s eyes. “Ah! I saw that! You flinched!”
“W-what?”
“YOU FLINCHED!” The blond slaps a knee with a cackle. “You got a girlfriend!”
At the exclamation, several people look over...including a few girls, among them Sakura. Once they words process, she gives a jolt.
Ha...perfect…!
Doing his best to scowl and look...sheepish about it, Sasuke mutters, “Shut up idiot, you want the whole school to hear you?”
“What, and let people miss out on the juicy gossip? Dude, I thought it would never happen! You’ve had a stick up yer ass for so long, I was starting to think you were gay!”
...that earns a genuine deadpan. “No, I just...hadn’t found the right person.”
“Well c’mon, you gotta tell me! Who’s the lucky lady, eh? Tell me, tell me!” Practically bouncing, Naruto’s got stars in his eyes.
“Look...I don’t want you bothering her, okay?”
“Nah, course not! I just wanna know who finally got through that stone heart of yours,” Naruto snickers.
Giving a pensive glance, he pauses for just the right amount of time. “...her name’s Hinata…”
All at once, Naruto’s face goes slack, eyes wide and jaw hanging open comically. “...wait...you mean Hinata? Hinata Hinata?”
“What, you know more than one?”
“Well, no...but…” He seems to hesitate. “I just thought...y’know…”
“What?” Oh, this is too much fun...he never gets to see Naruto squirm like this!
“I thought she...liked…” In barely a murmur, Naruto admits. “...me…”
“...well, maybe she got tired of chasing after your dumb ass. You think she was gonna wait around forever?” Sasuke asks, leaning back in his chair as though taunting.
“...maybe. I dunno, it’s just...weird. But…” After a pause, he gives a gentle smile, which...takes the Uchiha back a bit. “...I’m glad she found someone to make her happy. Cuz...it wasn’t ever gonna be me, y’know?”
The sudden genuine moment leaves Sasuke without a reply. Out of all the reactions he’d imagined...this wasn’t one of them.
“...a-anyway!” Naruto springs back to normal, grinning sheepishly. “Maybe with you outta the running, Sakura will give me a date, huh?”
“Honestly, I hope she will.”
“...really?”
“Yeah. Maybe she’d make you happy,” he offers with a shrug. That, and it might be some sign she’d finally moved on from chasing him…
Naruto blinks, then goes a light shade of pink, itching his neck bashfully. “Heh...maybe! I-I mean, I hope so! It’d be...nice…”
Thankfully, it’s then their first period teacher decides to arrive, cutting through the chatter. So absorbed was he in the rather raw moment with Naruto, Sasuke forgot that everyone else seemed to be whispering.
Probably about Naruto’s outburst. Which is exactly what he wants: the sooner everyone thinks he’s got a girlfriend, hopefully the sooner they all start leaving him alone! And he can enjoy his senior year of high school in relative peace.
The class goes by easily enough, and soon the ‘infected’ people take their leave, each heading to new classrooms...and each bearing the news: Sasuke Uchiha has a girlfriend at last. The school’s most eligible bachelor (eugh he hates thinking that…) is officially off the market!
Of course...not everyone takes it so gracefully. A few girls go so far as to start crying, and he can’t help guilty flinches. Were they really that invested in someone they barely know…?
Come lunch, his first full act is in full swing: time to sit with her and...do whatever it is dating people do.
...what is he supposed to do?
Grabbing a tray of the same old stuff, he startles as she just...appears next to him! Smiling and perky, she asks, “So...where do you want to sit?”
Blinking as his brain plays catch-up - she really is having fun with this, isn’t she? - Sasuke then replies, “Uh...you pick.”
“Okay!” Thankfully it’s a corner table that’s typically rather unoccupied. Rather than next to him, she sits across...after a moment, he realizes it’s so they can face each other.
...good plan.
“So, anything interesting happen in any of your morning classes?” she asks, popping a tater tot into her mouth.
“Uh...not really. Though it’s probably pretty obvious the Naruto plan worked out perfectly.”
“Yeah...it is,” she admits, smiling a bit wearily as several girls behind her shoot dirty looks. That...makes him pause. He hadn’t really considered if she’d get any backlash. He was so concerned about his side of the plan - of finally getting rid of all the people chasing him - it just...didn’t occur to him they might get nasty if they felt jilted enough.
“...you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m okay...there’s been some, um...awkward moments, but nothing bad,” she assures him.
Something seems to weigh on his chest, and he mutters, “...anyone gives you trouble, you let me know. I’ll take care of it.”
Surprise makes her blink, apparently not expecting that. “...I will. But...I doubt it will come to that.”
“...better not.”
A span of silence blooms.
“...so, what about you?” he then asks.
“Hm?”
“Classes: anything cool happen?”
“Oh...well, someone managed to catch a textbook on fire in chemistry,” she giggles. “Thankfully it didn’t actually trigger the alarms, though...or everyone would have gotten hauled outside!”
He can’t help a snort. “Who the hell did that…?”
“I’m not sure, an underclassman I don’t know. He was so embarrassed, poor thing…”
And so it goes, the pair of them trading useless information about their day, then the previous weekend. Usually smalltalk feels so...forced, but this doesn’t. They just...talk. No awkward pauses or scrambling for a topic.
...he doesn’t really get that very often.
But, soon enough, lunch period is over, and it’s back to the grind of classes. “Well...see you after school, I guess,” Hinata offers.
“Got time to do anything after class?”
“Oh...I’m sorry, I’ve got volleyball practice,” is her reply, expression dropping in disappointment. “But, um...we don’t have any Friday, since we have a game Saturday!”
He mulls that over, hands in his pockets. “...would you rather I go to your game?”
That makes her startle a bit. “You’d...you’d want to go to a game?”
“Sure. Never seen one before, might be fun. Besides, gotta be there to support my girl, right?” Sasuke gives a soft grin.
To his surprise, her cheeks dust pink. “I...I would like that!” A smile then blooms wide across her face. “It starts at two!”
“Sounds good. Maybe we could, like...get dinner after, if you’re not busy?”
“Well, sometimes the team goes out, but...if we don’t, then...sure!” A hand tucks spare hair behind her ear. “...this is kinda funny, huh? It kinda...feels like the real thing. Not like we’re pretending.”
Taken aback, Sasuke glances aside, ears suddenly feeling warm. “...yeah, guess it kinda does.”
“...well, we can talk more about it a-after school - we better go or we’ll be late.”
“Yeah, later.”
Watching her go, Sasuke turns to head to his own fifth period class, feeling the warmth in his face spread. What is wrong with him? This isn’t real! It’s just...pretend! An act!
...right?
                                                              .oOo.
Welp, after far too long, here's a sequel to day 146 - more of the fake dating trope! Yay! I've wanted to do more of it for quite a while, but none of the prompts seemed to fit too well, but...well, obviously this one fits perfectly xD      Uh ohhh, seems there's a wee spark of genuine feelings here...? And not just from Sasuke, seems like! Whatever will they do? :3c      Anyway, I'd like to ramble more but it's VERY late, and I've got a busy day ahead of me tomorrow. So for now, I'ma sign off - thanks for reading!

Out of curiosity I'm just going to list how many episodes left or runtime we have to expect for the current toonami lineup. Shows like MHA or Black Clover that are currently still in production will be harder to predict. This does not take into account marathons, movies breaks, or forceable drops. This does, however, take into account the possibility of rerun seasons.
DBZ Kai: 167 total, 166 left. Estimate: 3.184 years. Likelihood of rerun? I'd say they will take a break for a bit once the last bit runs.
MHA: currently 63, 43 left at the moment with probability of season 4 in the future. Roughly 10 months with current stock pile and give or take the movie if they ever air it, but it'll probably be on for as long as it remains popular.
Naruto Shippuden: look I lost track of what episode we're on but I already calculated it: roughly 5 years with the current pacing and with all the filler we know they won't skip. The good thing is they probably won't include movies to add to this wait time, maybe The Last due to the Tenseigan.
Boruto: having just premiered tonight, we have 75 episodes on stockpile which will last us about 1 year and 5 months plus change, but it is also still in production and likely will until popularity dies out or it ends.
Dragon Ball Super: total number as of now: 131. Episodes currently remaining: 49. Roughly 11 months. I'm not taking into account the Heroes inspired anime just yet, but I'm pretty sure there's a new season I'm the works anyway. Either it will air after or it takes a break for a bit.
Fooly Cooly Alternative: total: 6, we're on 4. 2 more episodes and then a rerun of all 6 like the prior FLCL runs totaling 8 weeks, or roughly a month and a week or 2. I expect a marathon or perhaps a rerun after that spanning all 3 seasons but don't hold me to it.
JoJo part 4: 39 episodes, 32 left, totalling about 7 months. I doubt it'll rerun but I'll bet we'll transition to part 5 by then.
Black Clover: still in production, 52 episodes as of October 2nd, we're on episode 41 after tonight. Roughly speaking this anime isn't far behind its production as far as dubbing goes and it just entered the second season apparently. About 2 and a half months until we're current but it depends on how popular it remains.
Hunter X Hunter: total number, 148, 35 episodes remaining, roughly 8 months. I doubt it'll rerun unless there's a new season.
One Punch Man: total number: 12. We have about 4 episodes left of this season. However, that'll probably rerun until we get season 2, so about 16 episodes, roughly 3.6 months and then season 2 with an additional 12 or so episodes give or take to add about 2.7 months, totalling about 6 more months of OPM at the moment.
Lupin the Third: part 4 has about 24 episodes with 7 left, roughly a month and a half. Part 5 will likely follow with an additional 24 episodes, roughly 5.5 months, so about a year and a half more of Lupin. Might get a rerun of part 4, who knows.
Cowboy Bebop: 26 total, two more episodes and two more weeks, maybe 3 if we get the movie which I doubt. Probably will be rotated out since it's on its second current rerun period. Guessing either Ghost in the Shell, Trigun, or IGPX will run for a bit after but dont quote me.
Samurai Jack: 62 total, 61 left, roughly a year and 2 months unless they do a marathon of the last 10 in one night.
Anyway I only calculated this out of boredom to see how much longer we have with some shows (either because I'm kind of tired of reruns or just curious). Give or take some episodes and maybe an ova or 5, depending on the mood Toonami has. This does not include any April Fools shenanigans or similar.

Transitional Period
Okay so I feel really lame writing this but I think it's also important. I keep apologizing for not being super active on this blog anymore, and there's a number of reasons I haven't. Most of it has been health related but anyway. I started this blog because I hated my other blog and wanted to do something new with a fandom I'd been in for a long time (10+ years), so after talking with Katie ( @shiranuigenma ), I decided to create this Naruto blog. But it wasn't intended to be just a Naruto blog, but that's how it kind of ended up since that's what I was into when I made it.
The fact that I've kept this a 98% Naruto blog is awesome because my attention span and energy allotted for a fandom is around 3-4 months. After that I usually get bored or burnt out and have to find something else. Making friends and participating in things like Kakashi Week, and just doing art and writing fanfics, has helped me to maintain interest in this blog for a lot longer than I thought I would. So thank you!! You guys are awesome!!!
(Okay real quick I'm not quitting lol. I know it sounds like it. But I'm not.) Basically, I was getting so burnt out on Naruto that I was dreading getting on this blog and I didn't want to watch it anymore. That's why I've been MIA. I literally only follow Naruto blogs at the moment. I don't want this to become a trash blog like my last one that I abandoned, so I'm still going to be kind of selective with what I reblog. Anyway. To combat the staleness and burnt out feeling I had, I got into a few other shows with my friends and that's really all I've been watching (RWBY, RvB, and YouTube if you're curious). It sounds dumb but it's really helped me a lot because I'm not so exhausted and wearing myself out trying to be ~the cool singular fandom blog~ that I'm really not meant to be. (Yo, major kudos to those who can do that.)
So anyway, 2018 has been not super unkind, but very tough for me. You grow from challenges, right? But it's also important to not be challenging yourself 24/7 for 6 months straight with little sleep and locking yourself away in your bedroom. I am not Maito Gai. I cannot do that. So here's a few things about my blog that'll carry us into summer 2018 and hopefully allow me to be more active and not so stressed and sad!!!! Esp since I still don't have a job even tho I'm looking!! And I'm getting tired of ppl telling me “Well just get a job??? Just go get hired???” like !!! what do you think I am doing???
Requests are now closed indefinitely. I'm going to finish up the few I have, but after that I'm closing them. They were super fun but I have so many things backlogged that it hasn't been as fun anymore. I send love and thanks to all those who sent in requests while they were open! It was a fun experiment and I got to really test myself by writing for characters I don't normally write for!
Writing commissions are closed indefinitely.  I’ll complete the one I have, but then that’ll be it for now. These too were also fun and challenged me more than anything else I've done. I got to write some very unique and difficult topics and I'm so thankful for those who trusted me enough with their stories to do this. However, the amount of time and mental energy it took was too much and severely underselling myself made it difficult to justify the time I was spending. (I've read writers should charge around 1 – 3 cents a word. I was charging $0.001 cents a word lmao. Whoops. I actually don't mind but it is hard to make a living like that.)
Art commissions are still OPEN! And btw, I do have a ko-fi. I'm thinking about doing something like, one coffee = one bust of your character of choosing? (which is same price as commissions whoops lol.) Idk yet. I won't be doing any writing for ko-fi, though.
I was going to create a side blog for the other fandoms I'm in but side blogs are tedious and annoying to manage so I'm probably just going to start posting stuff here. If you don't want to see it, you can start blacklisting tags now. I'll be tagging things as #rwby, #rvb, #not naruto (that's my catch-all tag for anything, uhh, not Naruto). Expect a lot of Ozpin, Qrow, Church, and Washington because even tho I was inactive here, it does not mean I stopped hoeing around in other fandoms. Oh, also expect an occasional #game grumps because #dan avidan is way cute.
I'm also going to be posting fanart for other fandoms here too. It's been nice to draw stuff other than Nardo. I'll still be doing Naruto stuff (I have a ton of Naruto projects I'm working on) but silly little doodles will probably be from RWBY.
I'm also in this weird kinda scary period in my life with school and career options. I have a degree in English and it's always been assumed I'd be a teacher but I don't want to be?? I realized recently that I love to draw and I'm getting quite good at it (with the help of my sister who is my own real-life youtube tutorial for SAI), so both my sister and I are going back to college for a Studio Art degree. I'm thinking about getting into animation and I'm scared because it's not a secure or “traditional” job??? I'm scared because I'm not settling on a job I don't want or a field I just assumed I'd go into. I'm not good with big changes or going into things when it's uncertain, so I'm like ….. /anxiety increases/ But I'm hoping it'll be good.
Just as an extra bullet point and a reminder, I still really love Kakashi, Iruka and Obito, and all my other guys!! Don't think I forgot about them!!
Sorry this is 10 million years long but it was important to me to write all that. I'm sorry I haven't been able to reblog your art or fics and comment on them. I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you guys and responded to messages. I'm sorry I'm not as active. I've just been figuring stuff out and hanging out with friends, and watching other things so I don't grow to despise Naruto lol. So. That's about it. I probably forgot something.
Oh, I have 21 plants growing in my windowsill. 2 are decorative and the other 19 are going to go in my garden in the backyard bc they’re herbs and vegetables. And I'm going to cosplay for the first time next month and I might meet the voice actor for kid Obito. So. There's that.

Orochimaru is literally the only Naruto villain to not be talk no jutsu'ed into being a good guy and I find it funny how you hate him yet Madara, Pein and all the others aren't characters to demonize too....?Also about you being 'anti shinobi system' I find it hilarious how everyone who spews this fails to go into detail how said system can be fixed.
Hey there sweetheart! It’s so wonderful that my blog could bring joy to your life. :D
I find it funny and hilarious that you don’t know that I literally wrote a 50k+ piece of fanfiction where Kakashi is a good Hokage who actively works to fix the shinobi system. (Not to mention all the other meta I’ve written on this blog about these issues.)
Short version of the major fixes I wrote into my fic since, darling, let’s be honest, I know you don’t have the attention span to read something that long :)
End the mission-based economy and replace it with a tax-supported system where people get shinobi services based on need, not ability to pay, like real world police and medical services should be
Incrementally raise the age that people go on missions outside the village
Invest in infrastructure now that people aren’t blowing up bridges and dams and stuff all the time, thus improving the economy
Find non-military applications for shinobi skills: Aburame insects? They can pollinate crops. Kakashi (who has the Rinnegan in this fic) uses the Almighty Push power to create a mountain pass. INUZUKA CLAN THERAPY DOGS I’M JUST SAYING.
Public memorial of the Uchiha Massacre and what caused it. Communal and official penance. Children learning about the Massacre and all the other fails of shinobi history in school.
End of the Hyuuga branch slavery system. End of clan internal sovereignty period.
Naruto, the character, sticking to his well-characterized deep desire to defend the vulnerable and connect people to each other, and his ability to come up with outside-the-box solutions to problems.
Bless your heart honey and don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out :D

So I wrote a Thing
I blame all the Gamer fics and awesome SIs I’ve read
Congratulations for completing Shinobi Way: Will of Fire Story Mode. Customization is now available.
Would you like to play again?
Y/N?
Finally, she thought.  It had taken forever to get through the first game.  She died countless times.  Always returning to this weird place and screen.  She honestly didn’t know how long she had been doing this, ‘playing’ this game.  This game that wasn’t really a game.  It couldn’t be.
At first she thought she was dreaming or in a coma.  Now she had no clue.  The best idea she had was that she died.  And was now in this limbo place where she died over and over again.
She gave herself one goal after the first ‘game failure,’ get to custom mode.  It was a silly kind of goal.  She died so often in this weird purgatory.  She died as all of the unlocked story characters.  And now she could create her own person.  She could be who she wanted to be.  And after going through the game as shinobi time after time, she hoped to be able to be normal, even in this weird shinobi/game world.
“Let’s play,” she stated to the green text.
Story Characters:
 ?
Yamanaka Ino
Uzumaki Naruto
?
Uchiha Sasuke
Tenten
?
Rock Lee
Nara Shikamaru
Inuzuka Kiba
Hyūga Neji
Hyūga Hinata
?
Haruno Sakura
Akimichi Chouji
Aburame Shino
-or-
Custom Mode
Looking at the list, she felt some accomplishment.  Team Gai, as they were known in the game, were all unlocked characters she got through getting certain accomplishments.  Beating Neji as Hinata in the Chunin Exams.  Beating Lee as Sasuke right before the Exams.  Turning Sakura, Hinata, and Ino into weapon-mistresses before the Exams.
It all came back to those stupid Exams.  The Exams were like the actual start of the game. Everything before is training, the tutorial.  It had taken her a lot of starts to figure that out.  Since she had just started with the first option she recognized, Naruto. She knew it was a show, a comic book thing.  Her cousin watched it and had a lot of the video games based on the show.
Unfortunately, she didn’t know that Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura had some extra hurdles before the Exams.  She had originally stuck with those three after the first try.  She died a lot.  Surprisingly, she finally won the game with Hinata.  It was probably just luck, but it was nice to have finally won. And with a female character.  She had to get through to the Exams, then the two year span of random missions, then survive the Atatsuki, then figure out the mystery of Madara (which she finally realized changed with each decision she made in the game), then survive the rabbit goddess and aliens.
She sometimes wondered how long she had been here. She had failed before and during the Exams enough times to probably fill several decades.  With the two year ‘profession training’ period, that rose even higher. Hell, figuring out Madara probably added decades to the time she spent here.
It felt like eternity.
Which probably explained her theory of this being limbo or purgatory.  And her want of the custom mode.  Which she had finally gotten.
Custom Mode Engaged
 Shinobi Clan or Civilian Clan?
Civilian.  It would be easier to be normal as a civilian.  No pressure to be a shinobi.
Point Distribution
 50 Attribute Points
Strength 0>
Vitality 0>
Dexterity 0>
Intelligence 0>
Wisdom 0>
Charisma 0>
Having played for so long, she already knew what attribute did what.  Strength and Vitality made up Health.  Intelligence determined chakra.  Wisdom: Chakra Control.  Dexterity had influence on speed.  Finally, Charisma helped with Reputation and purchases.
Naruto had ended up having a bunch of penalties toward Reputation which had made him the hardest to play.  She was pretty sure winning with him would be her next goal, but she wasn’t sure she wanted to try it.
Ino and Sakura had ‘fangirl’ statuses at the beginning that hurt their gains and base Intelligence.  Hinata did too with her personality status, but that was combatable with the Perks she got when starting.  Shikamaru had a ‘lazy’ status that hurt his chakra and physical attributes. Shino had some chakra penalties and charisma penalties too.
It was all maths though.  Which was her favorite subject.  Even after she had finished school.  Sometimes she wished to be able to bring items from play to play. She had worked out all the relationships between attributes and health and chakra once.  Only once since all that work disappeared when she got back to this screen.
She had started balancing the attributes early on, keeping them as even as possible.  Moving points around so every attribute had 6 was her first move.  Now she had 14 points to play with.  As she wasn’t planning on being a shinobi, if at all possible, she decided to focus on the attributes that helped dealing with people.

Vitality 6>
Dexterity 8>
Intelligence 10>
Wisdom 10>
Charisma 10>
While helpful towards charka, Intelligence also allowed her to learn more and learn faster.  Wisdom helped understand what went on around her, and with the idea of going a whole new route, she hoped a higher Wisdom would help.  Charisma was pretty straightforward in how it could help. The more people liked her, the better the product she got.
You can now pick 3 status perks.
Chakra Coils – Locked
Chakra Coils – Unlocked
Personality – Quiet and Shy
Personality – Quiet and Solemn
Personality – Shy and Unconfident
Personality – Blunt and Outgoing
Personality – Good Listener
Personality – Bookworm
Personality – Prankster
Personality – Fangirl
Personality – Lazy
Personality – Perverted
Personality - Vain
Body Type – Statuesque
Body Type – Flexible
Body Type – Rock Solid
Body Type – Fleet-Footed
Status – Clan Heir
Status – Genii
Status – Orphan
Other – Kinesthetic Learner
Other – Book Smart
Other – Team Player
Other – Religious
Profession – Chef
Profession – Writer
Profession – Blacksmith
Profession – Store Keep
Profession – Trader
Profession – Artist
Profession – Farmer
Profession – Rancher
She knew some of the statuses from being and meeting other characters.  She knew some of the benefits and penalties.  Some of them were new to her though.  Most of the profession statuses.  A few of the personality status were new too.  Every ‘heir’ status she had seen was for a shinobi clan, but it always helped with the family ‘business.’  The ‘other’ statuses were usually for experience gain.
The locked coil status would probably help with the civilian goal.  Lee had Damaged coils which meant he was more physical than jutsu as a fighter.  Locked coils would be her first choice, with heir as the next.  That left one more.  It would probably be a good idea to pick a profession.
With the attribute points, Blacksmith was probably a bad idea.  From Tenten she knew strength was big for that.  The only writer she had met was Jiraiya and that wasn’t exactly a good impression.  Akimichi were chefs, as were the ramen shop owners (Teuchi and Ayame), so she had some experience with cooking.  Artist was kind of what Sai did, though she hadn’t unlocked him, if she could.  Sai fought with ink.  Traders probably travelled a lot and that wouldn’t be so safe in later years.
That left Store Keep, Farmer, and Rancher. She had done some farm work on D-Rank missions.  It wasn’t something she had enjoyed.  And while working with animals sounded nice, she didn’t know if she’d be good at it. Store Keep was ambiguous.  It could be any type store, even one she had no clues about.
Crap.  This wasn’t easy.  Maybe she should look at the personality ones.  Lazy, Vain, Perverted, and Fangirl were thrown out automatically.  Vain was the only one with a benefit and it was only to Charisma, with the penalty going to reputation gain.  Prankster wouldn’t really be helpful.  Hinata was the Shy and Unconfident and that gave penalties to reputation and charisma.  Blunt didn’t seem like a good idea.  The Quiets were all negative in reputation gain.  That left Good Listener and Bookworm.
From selecting the other statuses, she knew no information would pop up for her to learn about.  Best to go with something that seemed obvious.  Bookworm sounded the least able to be turned against her. She could be considered nosy with the Listener.

Haruno Kaede
That was… different.  She would be related to Sakura in some way.  From what she remembered, her chakra control is probably really high with her Wisdom attribute.  The chakra penalty would probably be high, but she might still have some to play with if she was lucky.
What the hell did Sakura’s family do?
Game will begin in

You have slept in Your Bed.
HP and CP filled to 100%
Familiar with the ‘wake up’ message, she sat up to see where she was.  And got a fairly not nice surprise.
She was a boy.
Crap.
Though she probably should have figured since the profile said heir instead of heiress like Ino had and Hinata could get.
She was also younger than what the others started out as, maybe two.  Usually she was seven or eight and beginning the Shinobi Academy.  She had thought she’d be older with 50 points instead of the total 30 she had in Story Mode.  Crap.
Profile, she thought quickly.  There was usually some new information in there.
Haruno Kaede
Occupation: (2 Available)
Level: 5  EXP to LV: 00.00%
HP: 90.00         HPR: 2.50/min
CP: 37.50         CPR: 4.38/min
Strength: 6
Vitality: 6
Dexterity: 8
Intelligence: 10 (+2.5) = 12.50
Wisdom: 10 (+2.5) = 12.50
Charisma: 10
(0 Attribute Points Available)
(1 Perk Point)
Status: [Locked Chakra Coils] -90% Chakra, Civilian; [Bookworm] +50% EXP gain from Skill Books, +0.5 to Wisdom per LV, +0.5 to Intelligence per LV; [Haruno Heir] +25% EXP gain towards [Haruno Family Practices]
Haruno Kaede is the eldest of the new generation of Harunos.  He is slotted to lead the family business (?) when an adult.  Born before the end of the Third Shinobi War, Kaede is one of the few children allowed to grow without shinobi training.
The Third Shinobi War was before any of the timeline she had played.  Naruto was born October 10 a year after the war.  There was some information she had, if she could remember it all.
Yondaime became the Yellow Flash in the Third War. Kushina was the Jinchūriki for Kyūbi.  How much longer until Sakura would be born?  A few years?
Why the hell did she have to be in a totally new situation?
What other surprises would Custom Mode have for her?
Shaking herself, she looked back at her stats. She had a Perk Point to play with. And there was also a question mark in the description.  That was new-ish.  Mentally tapping the question mark, a new screen popped up.
The Haruno Family is a Civilian Clan focused on a specific Profession. You will be in charge of managing all family businesses once Clan Head. Decide what Profession your family follows.
Chefs – Your family is the civilian version of the Akimichi clan. Your family owns several restaurants and bakeries.
Artisans – Your family focuses on art and the various roads an artisan can take.  From Architect to Sculptor to Weaver, your family holds them all.
Trade Shop – Your family owns a wide network of shops between villages. Any good can be found in your stores.
Farmers/Ranchers – Your family has owned land since the Founding and used this land to the village’s benefit.  From cattle to grain, your family provides a large portion of consumable goods.
None of these would have helped Sakura as a shinobi. Which made sense as a civilian clan. Going from what she read, Chefs and Trade Shop would have a lot of different things to know to run businesses successfully.  So would Farmers and Artisans but it sounded like there were specific sections that ran on their own.  Artisans honestly sounded the most interesting for her.  That decided that then.
Now the perk point.
1 Perk Point Available
Chakra Coils – Unlocked
Personality – Quiet and Shy
Personality – Quiet and Solemn
Personality – Good Listener
Personality – Lazy
Status – Genii
Other – Team Player
Other – Religious
Other - Artistic
Genii would give Intelligence and Wisdom points. Team Player was similar to Kiba’s Pack Member so ally EXP seemed likely.  In all honesty, the Artistic perk seemed the best for her now.
Artistic
+25% EXP gain towards [Arts], +0.5 to Intelligence per LV, +10% to Wisdom, Adds Creativity to Attributes, +0.5 to Creativity per LV
Well that sounded helpful.  Though having a new attribute to manage would be interesting. Hopefully the 10 points a level kept so she had more than usual to play with.  The new attribute would help with her family profession though.  That decided that then.
Looking back through her profile, she spotted the blank Occupation.  Something else to look at.
Available Occupations:
Toddler (+50% EXP gain)
Family Heir (+25% Reputation gain with other Heirs)
Huh.  The Toddler would probably leave after she grew, but it would help for the moment. Getting a higher level would be nice. Now her profile looked complete.
Haruno Kaede
Occupation: Toddler (+50% EXP gain)
Level: 5  EXP to LV: 00.00%
HP: 90.00         HPR: 2.50/min
CP: 45.00         CPR: 4.63/min
Strength: 6
Vitality: 6
Dexterity: 8
Intelligence: 10 (+5) = 15.00
Wisdom: 10 (+3.5) = 13.50
Charisma: 10
Creativity: 6 (+2.5) = 8.50
(0 Attribute Points Available)
(0 Perk Points)
Status: [Locked Chakra Coils] -90% Chakra, Civilian; [Bookworm] +50% EXP gain from Skill Books, +0.5 to Wisdom per LV, +0.5 to Intelligence per LV; [Haruno Heir] +25% EXP gain towards [Haruno Art Practices], +25% EXP gain towards [Arts]; [Artistic] +25% EXP gain towards [Arts], +0.5 to Intelligence per LV, +10% to Wisdom, Adds Creativity to Attributes
Haruno Kaede is the eldest of the new generation of Harunos.  He is slotted to lead the family business of Artistry when an adult.  Born before the end of the Third Shinobi War, Kaede is one of the few children allowed to grow without shinobi training.
It certainly looked good for a toddler’s profile. Level 5 at just one or two.  She still had a bunch of questions about her new situation though.

momentum - 5
chapter 5
[ch 1][ch 2][ch 3][ch 4]
Stress permeated the campus air - it was finals week and students were frantically attempting to cram a semester's worth of information in the span of several days and complete presentations and papers and projects. More than a few were running on lethal amounts of caffeine and Adderall.
They were working on practice exams in the group study area of the library when one of the chairs at their table was pulled out and the intruder plopped into the seat as if they belonged there.
"Hey guys!" Naruto greeted and started unpacking his notes and textbooks. "So glad I found you two, I couldn't find a single open desk or table in this place."
"Hi Naruto," Hinata greeted warmly, perking up to the distraction from the monotonous problems.
Sasuke briefly acknowledged the blonde's presence before turning back to his work - they still had another physics practice exam left to complete.
"You'd think the library would be emptier at 2 AM on a Friday."
With an irritable tone, Sasuke stated, "It's finals week, dobe."
"Fuck dude, it sure is," he sighed and picked up a pencil.
The political science major rifled through his notes and textbooks but quickly became bored - there was so much to study and so little time to study with. It was all very daunting so he watched his quiet friends instead.
When Hinata turned to Sasuke to ask about a specific problem she was stuck on, Naruto was surprised to see him helping her without sass or impatience. While he was best friends with the Uchiha and cared for him dearly, he had to admit that Sasuke was not exactly known for being nice or even remotely helpful. In fact, he was kind of a bastard sometimes.
The blonde interjected, "What are you guys studying?"
Tired lavender eyes peeled away from the never ending practice sheet.
"Physics," she explained glumly.
"Well you're in good hands!" He said emphatically, with a wide grin.
She blinked at him in questioning.
"Yeah, this punk" - he pointed to Sasuke - "took AP Physics in high school and got a 5 on the exam! But he's crazy and wanted to retake physics in college," Naruto remarked with a perplexed expression.
Not registering the shadow that set over Sasuke's features, Naruto continued, "He's actually a physics whiz! He was a part of this nerdy science/math competition and he set a record score for the physics section - it made the news and everything."
Some of her fatigue ebbed and she raised a brow at him, amused. Sasuke schooled his expression to remain neutral and he could not meet her gaze. Instead he stared straight ahead at the rambling blonde, willing him to just stop talking please.
"He went to nationals after and took home the trophy, of course," he bragged about his best friend. "That thing is like, this tall!" He emulated the proportions with his hands, definitely exaggerating.
Before Sasuke could stop her, Hinata reached over to her laptop to Google his name. "U-chi-ha Sa-su-ke," she quietly mouthed the syllables as she typed.
He watched in horror as the trusty search engine pulled up results within 0.62 seconds and he was greeted with old photos from high school and headlines proclaiming of a physics prodigy.
'Hello darkness, my old friend…' played in his head as she clicked on the images tab and he was assaulted with even more embarrassing stills. Stones sank to the pit of his stomach, but she looked absolutely delighted to be perusing Sasuke's awful, awful high school pictures, eyes riveted to the screen.
"Your sense of style has improved," she offered, containing her laughter by pressing her lips together.
The arm warmers worn by the teen in the photos haunted him, as did the popped collar and partially unbuttoned shirt - good god who let him attend the competition like that? No, the better question was: who let him leave the house like that?
Naruto hoisted his body across the table to look at her computer and let out a hearty chuckle. "Our boy Sasuke had an edgy emo phase," he then glanced at the sullen man's outfit, a dark hoodie and similarly dark jeans. "Actually, he might still be in it."
Sasuke wanted to be anywhere else but here, in the library with his past exposed to the girl he was absolutely infatuated with.
Noticing his taciturn attitude, Hinata threaded her fingers into his bangs to brush them away from his eyes, "But I think your hair has gotten messier."
The lavender pools conveyed mirth and her lingering touch on his temple made his pulse race, face heating to an uncomfortable temperature. Any existing thoughts went up in smoke with her simple actions; if his brain was a computer, Sasuke.exe would have stopped working.
"Aww, Sasuke's embarrassed," Naruto teased in a belittling voice, snapping him out of his reverie.
As much as he wanted to lean into the warmth of her palm, he did the opposite and returned to his homework. Her hand dropped back to her side and he secretly mourned the loss.
Letting his bangs fall over his eyes and obscure his features, he did what he did best and tuned out his surroundings.
He was in the midst of solving problem 28 when he felt familiar fingers sweep his bangs away from his face once again. Caught off guard, he reflexively turned to the person playing with his hair.
"Ah, wait," Hinata was careful not to tug on his scalp with his sudden movement.
He held still, waiting patiently for her to finish.
Despite his best efforts, a shiver traveled down his spine at her ministrations. He almost sighed in pleasure at how good it felt to have her running her fingers through his tresses.
Thinking she accidentally pulled too hard, she apologized. "Sorry, did that hurt?"
"No." Quite the opposite, actually, but he wouldn't dare say it out loud. He would gladly let her play with his hair as much as her heart desired. Hell, he would let her touch him anytime she wanted - no questions asked.
A light snore drew his attention to a sleeping blonde on the other side of the table. That was quick. Though Naruto never had the focus to study for long periods of time anyways.
As she gathered his hair in a ponytail, she whispered to avoid waking their friend up. "Sorry for making fun of you," he could tell she was smiling, "I actually thought you were cute."
She just finished tying the upper half of it back, since the rest was too short, when he turned around in his seat to look at her. "Were?" he emphasized the past tense with a tilt of his head.
"Don't fret, you still are," she assured him with a grin and a pat on the cheek.
Grabbing her wrist before she could pull away, he pressed his lips to her soft palm. "What a relief," he replied wryly, a smirk gracing his features.
A blush bloomed on her face and her laughter was a little off - he could tell she was flustered.
Good. He wanted to be the one that threw off her composure.
Releasing her hand to let her return to her seat, he replayed the scene in his head and relished in the sensation of her fingers buried in his hair. Idly, he wondered what it would feel like to have her hands elsewhere...
Hinata's nerves were rattled; the ghost of his kiss seemed to be burned into her skin and she had trouble focusing on anything else.
They continued to do their homework, though physics was the last thing on either of their minds.
