ShikaTema is the Best Love Story in All of Naruto.
Okay, so Kishimoto and Ikemoto might do better with Boruto. However, as far as Naruto is concerned, ShikaTema is the best love story hands down. Let me explain.
Naruto x Hinata - Naruto spent 19 years either being oblivious to Hinata's existence or thinking she was weird.
Sasuke x Sakura - This relationship was so abusive that it was borderline criminal. I'm glad it's better now. I like Sarada, but Sasuke did not deserve a wife.
Sai x Ino - This is one of the better love stories. They kind of hit it off from the beginning in a lot of ways. However, aside from the light novel, we don't know much about it.
Asuma x Kurenai - Also, one of the better love stories, but we kind of just saw that they were together one day. Then before we know it, Asuma dies before the birth of his daughter.
Minato x Kushina - Another one of the better love stories. However, we were kind of rushed through the love story, because their entire love story was told in the past for obvious reasons.
Obito x Rin - I guess this is a good love story. I mean it almost ended in the destruction of the ENTIRE world, and Rin was in love with Kakashi the entire time, but what can you do? Did Rin and Obito end up together romantically? I have no idea. In death, Obito reverted back to his 13-14 year old self and spent eternity with 13-14 year old Rin. Yes, that's kind of romantic, but let's be honest, they can only be so romantic before it just becomes creepy and inappropriate (assuming the never age).
Now, the big one: Shikamaru x Temari.
I mean one could argue that this love story began with Temari fought Ten Ten. It was the first time Shikamaru noticed Temari. He took one look at her, and said that she had already beat Ten Ten. Naruto asked Shikamaru how he knew that, and Shikamaru said that he would not tell Naruto if Naruto couldn't figure it out himself.
Shikamaru vs Temari is the first time that Temari noticed Shikamaru, and she was utterly unimpressed with him until the very end of the fight when she realized that she was about 2 seconds for losing if Shikamaru had larger chakra reserves. From that point on, Shikamaru was never far from her mind.
Fast forward, these two lovely characters don't see each other again until Temari has to save Shikamaru from Tayuya. Shikamaru underestimates Temari's abilities, and Temari effortless kills Tayuya with her wind scythe jutsu. After seeing this, Shikamaru compares Temari to his mother.
This is important, because earlier, Shikamaru had asked his father why he married his mother, and Shikamaru's dad was basically like, "A good woman can change you."
Aside from a broken finger, Shikamaru visits the hospital to see how his severely injured friends are doing. Temari scolds him for being too emotional, because it seems as though Shikamaru is about to give up.
Shikamaru's like, "I don't need all this smoke." He gets up to leave, and his father is basically like, "You coward, are you going to let this woman talk to you crazy and all your comrades die in the future."
Shikamaru starts crying and this is the first time we see Temari show genuine concern and empathy for Shikamaru.
The next episode, I believe, Shikamaru is the one to see Temari and her brothers off from the Leaf Village as they head back to the sand.
Now, I'm going to fast forward to Shippuden. Yes, there's a filler arc in which Shikamaru saves Temari from another wind user. Upon returning to the Leaf, I believe Temari helps Shikamaru in the ninja academy with the students, and Shikamaru sees off the Sand Sibling again. You get the point.
Moving onto Shippuden, the first time we see Shikamaru in the village, we see him with Temari. Naruto keenly asks if the two of them are dating. Both Shikamaru and Temari think the assertion is hilarious, but it's actually pretty accurate.
Why, because without going through an entire play by play of every time Shikamaru and Temari were together in Shippuden, I will say this. If there's a Naruto episode with Temari in it, there's about an 80-90% that Shikamaru will be in that episode too, and that he will interact with Temari in some way.
For example, the war arc episode in which Konohamaru challenged Temari to a fight. Shikamaru did not need to be in that episode. Yet, Moegi and Udon went and found Shikamaru, so that Shikamaru could break up the fight. That was when Shikamaru said how scary Temari actually was.
There's even a shot little bonus video in which Shikamaru said, "What if it was Shikamaru Shippuden instead of Naruto Shippuden?" The an opening screen appears on the screen, and there's a silhouette of Shikamaru and Temari on the opening screen.
Temari is a long distance combat specialist. I feel that Shikamaru is mid-distance at best, but yet, both of them were in the same exact campaign during the war, and where was Temari? She was standing right next to Shikamaru.
When Shikamaru got caught up in the infinite genjustu, he dreamt of Temari by his side as they mutually agreed that marriage sucks.
My point is, as I skip a ton of points, Kishimoto had built up a relationship between these two characters for nearly 20 years. Mind you, that these characters DO NOT live in the same village. Temari has very little screen time. She has so little screen time, that she has a new outfit dang near every other time that we see her. However, the majority of the screen time she does have is with Shikamaru. The relationship between these two was set long before the light novels from Shikamaru were even considered.

I love the Naruto World so much that I wish I was in it, I want to be a female Senju princess who's a god child to Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki.
I'll love to be the last child of Tsunade Senju and Jiraiya Ogata, be the Sixth Hokage after saving the Leaf with Naruto Uzumaki, and is the main romantic interest of Sasuke Uchiha, a former student of Orochimaru Yashagoro.
I want Naruto to have a sibling, so I chose Deidara cause Uchiha Clan heirs tend to be rivals with Uzumaki Clan members and I don't to replace Hanabi for somebody else, so Hinata got a big sister now...how about Yume for the name...yes.
My name should be Misako, have a big sister named Akira who's the main romantic interest of Itachi Uchiha, and is the Chosen One with elemental bending powers as the Light Avatar who must destroy the Dark Persona.
I shipped myself with Sasuke, NaruHina for life, NejiTen, ShikaTema, SaiIno, KibaTama, ShiShi, ChoKaru, LeeAma, KankuAka, SoraKae, GaaMatsu, AsuKure, KakaHana, JiraTsuna, MinaKushi, Orochimaru X OFC, Itachi X OC, MY AU!Deidara X OFC!Hinata's Big Sister, ToneShion, IruAya, SuiKari, Sakura X OMC, GaiKao, KoteAnko, KabuGure, HayaYuga, IzuShizu, YamaYuki, ObiRin, Rin and Obito will be still alive, my dad's not gonna die too, Asuma deserves to live for his daughter, Neji stays living, etc.
There's ten tailed beasts from zero to nine; Satori the Reibi, Shukaku the Ichibi, Matatabi the Nibi, Isobu the Sanbi, Son Goku the Yonbi, Kokuo the Gobi, Saiken the Rokubi, Chomei the Nanabi, Gyuki the Hachibi, and Kurama the Kyuubi.
I want Team 02 [Yoruha - Hikaru, Nayumi, Migaku & Sakura], 03 [Gai - Neji, Tenten, Lee & Kaede], 07 [Kakashi - Naruto, Misako, Sasuke & Hinata], 08 [Kurenai - Kiba, Tamaki, Shino & Shiho], and 10 [Asuma - Choji, Ino, Shikamaru & Akane].
Sakura need to be shipped with somebody else rather than Sasuke, she was falling for him and broke her friendship with Ino for his heart.
If I was her, I'll choose my friend over my crush and keep my bond.
Misako got three childhood friends; Naruto, Hinata, and Sasuke...it's that clear and simple.
Misa doesn't like fan boys at all like Sasuke don't like fan girls, they're from enemy clans and are best friends who's secretly betrothed to each other as a way to form peace to both family trees.
Watching all episodes and movies, I've learned many shocking plots and twists throughout my childhood.
Itachi's an amazing big brother, I wish Naruto has a brother and I gave him one...named Deidara rather than Menma cause I see that alternative future son of our ramen lover if he was married to Sasuke.
I want Naruto to have his first kiss with Hinata, which leads to this scenario...what if Misako was between both him and Sasuke during the episode where they were finding out their teams.
Misako will kiss Sasuke...again, here's the catch, they shared their first kiss at a young age cause they liked each other and can see their futures as a badass power couple.
Itachi had already predicted that his little brother was in love with Misako...like he was with Akira, Akira will prevent Itachi's death and tell Sasuke the real truth herself with her baby sister by her side.
I've read a fanfiction on Wattpad that has an original female character portraying as Nezuko Kamado, her name was Misa, I loved it and saw the major changes they've done...it was glorious...shout-out to the author.
I know one way to make Sasuke feel overprotective to Misako like she's understanding with him, I've made three characters we know as original characters named Hikaru, Nayumi, and Migaku.
Hikaru will portray from Toneri or Seimei, Nayumi will depict from Shion or Sawaii, and Migaku...I got something for him...Yoichi or Ren.
Misako and Akira, two sisters with their father's white hair, their mother's brown eyes, their father's red markings, and their mother's beautiful looks and gorgeous figure...I got their character portrayals...Heinrich Prinz (Akira) & Eugen Prinz (Misako).
Indra & Asura was in love with the Kishimoto Sisters named...Luna & Kira...
Kira will be the light that guides Asura to the Sun and into the Spirit World for a bright star.
Luna will be the shadow that escorts Indra to the Moon and get him away from the Phantom Zone for a dark cloud.
The sacred ancestry continues to Madara Uchiha's lover and Hashirama Senju's wife...Mito Uzumaki & Himiko Hyuga.
Years have passed, I want Misa to become the Light Avatar since the Dark Persona was her complete polar opposite...they're destined lovers.
I honestly want Misa to have two sons and daughters; Daisuke (OMC: Haruto Uchiha), Mikoto (OFC: Amara Senju), Yuta (OMC: Isamu Senju), and Sayuri (OFC: Kiyomi Uchiha).
I'm giving Naruto another son and daughter; Menma (OMC: Soha Uzumaki) & China (OFC: Naruko Uzumaki).
If you're confused with the names of the following OCs I've planted, search for their names on Google to get some clarification...it took me a few tries and I've finished.
Comment down below, reblog, anything you wanna do...go for it.
Do not report me, this is just my ideas...something I wanna do for my fanfics in the future.
Sayonara guys...believe it!
Also...who will win between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso?
If nobody wins and unexpected twists happen, who will return?
What if Damian Priest changes his mind and cash in on Roman, if not...on whoever wins between Seth and Finn?
Who will beat Dominik's ass and strip him from his title?
Will Santos dethrone Theory?
Can Ricochet take down a jackass?
Will Gunther stay undisputed?
Who will be Rhea's opponent?
Who will walk out as Women's Undisputed Champion?
Will Iyo win or lose her chance?
Will Shotzi get revenge on Bayley?
Can LA Knight conquer the Battle Royal?
Will Shayna kick this transphobic bitch's ass out of wrestling for good?
Will Solo join his brother?
Will Cody end Lesnar?
All these questions and more will be confirmed tomorrow night at Detroit...watch Peacock now, get your tickets, and get ready cause it's ride or die this year on 2023.
Let this tribal combat...commence.

Nightmare mission
Day 3 :) I struggled a little with this one and it is all over the place but we do as we do! Here you go.
Hatake Tsuki, my oldest Kakashi daughter [clickerino]
Sarutobi Mirai x OC
Rated G
4661 words
no warnings other than spoilers for the entire land of steam arc.
for @narutoocshipweek Day 3: Vacation
Tsuki has to leave her Anbu squad behind to accompany her father and her uncle Gai to a mission in the land of steam, which would already be annoying enough if there wasn't also an airhead jounin present.
Pushing her bangs out of her face with a blow and letting her hands fall into the oversized coat she was wearing, Tsuki contemplated under which terrible circumstances she ended up in the situation she was in right now. Whose idea had it been to send her to this three week special mission with none other than her father and his goofy friend Gai and on top of that also this airhead protective Jounin as if Tsuki alone would not have been enough as personal protection.
Her father probably, she thought. It could not have been anyone else who could have put her up to this hellish trip. Years she had spent tucked away and working hard in ANBU, doing dangerous missions day by day, even after Naruto-nii had taken over the job as Hokage. So it was very suspicious that she would be recalled from her squad to go on a three week vacation with two retired old men. It smelled like interference by her father, it smelled like there was something up.
The other person that was coming with them, Sarutobi Mirai, was a girl Tsuki’s age. Someone who she went to academy with. But Tsuki had been stronger, quicker in uptake and more talented by a large mile and so she had never really interacted with Mirai. In Tsuki’s eyes Mirai was nothing but a burden on this mission. Constantly confused and trying too hard. It felt like Tsuki was forced to protect all three of them.
It was clear pretty quickly that her father and Gai were enjoying themselves a little too much. Tsuki’s father might be a great shinobi and she still looked up to him almost as much as she always had, but he had this streak about him, especially when with Gai, that made him surprisingly dorky. In such situations Tsuki always looked away or if she could, walked away, because though it made her mothers eyes light up when he was like that, Tsuki thought it was undignified of his former role as hokage and just very embarrassing.
“I can’t believe they sent us on a vacation with them and didn’t tell us,” Mirai moaned one evening, laying down on the futon in one of the ryokans they were staying at. Her hair was damp from the bath still, which made it even more curly than it usually was. Tsuki always had straight hair, even when she was younger and tried to style it. Straight and hanging down.
Tsuki chuckled a little at Mirai’s expense. Well, if she had been so naive as to think that she was sent on a mission that was more important than an S-Rank then she must be very naive. Well, as much was given. “I guess we have to live with that now and make the best of it”, Tsuki replied, though she felt bitter about it too. So many interesting missions she could have done instead of sitting here wasting her time.
“You talked to my father in private before”, Tsuki now asked what had been on her mind all evening. “What about?” She had seen it happen and could have easily eavesdropped from the tree overhead, but had decided not to, mostly because she knew her father would have figured out immediately that she was there.
Mirai rolled over and shrugged her shoulders: “We talked about my father. If I am similar to him or not.”
Right, Mirai’s father had been a shinobi that had died in the fights leading up to the Fourth War. “Why does it matter if you are like him or not?” Tsuki asked. Being attached to your birth parents and their abilities seemed so silly to her. It always had. Maybe that came with her own family history, the fact that her parents might have given her up or died or just lost track of her and her lack of interest in finding out.
“Maybe you don’t understand that,” Mirai said, her red eyes now hardened. “Because you still have your father around. It's just a thing that I wish I knew more about. Who I am is also part of where I came from.”
Tsuki laughed: “My birth parents aren't around either and I still don’t get your point. What do they give us other than genetics?”
There was a frown on Mirai’s face and she seemed to think. Then she said: “Both your parents are still alive…Kakashi-san is in the other room.”
That took Tsuki out for a second. She blinked at the other woman across from her in disbelief and confusion. “I’m adopted” she settled on finally.
Mirai’s jaw fell open: “What? You are?” How had Mirai not known that? Had she gone through the academy as wide eyed and naive as she went through the world now? Tsuki suddenly flashed back to all the years of kids telling her that she wasn’t a real child of the Sixth Hokage. That she bore his name like a fake who did not deserve it. That only her brother and sister were real eirs. That her parents loved them more than they loved her. All of that for so many years and Mirai hadn’t even known?
Tsuki circled her face and then pointed at her cheek: “How do you think these two people could have made me?” She was referring to her darker skin. Mirai shrugged again: “I don’t know. I guess I never really thought about it.”
How should that have never crossed her mind? Tsuki felt an odd sort of anger in her heart. Mirai must be lying. She must be acting or making fun. Everybody knew Tsuki was adopted, her entire life, her entire existence, revolved around everybody knowing she was adopted.
“You’re a dumb idiot”, Tsuki said cruelly, turned around and ignored anything else Mirai was saying.
***
When Tsuki had called this a nightmare trip, she had not yet been ready for what was about to descend on her. Not only was her father especially dorky and Gai in his most exhaustive state, but Mirai continued to be a baggage at everyone’s leg, trying to fix things that needed no fixing. There were surprisingly many jounin from Konoha in the Land of Steam stirring up trouble and being generally annoying. It just hardened her suspicion that all of this was less a vacation and more of a setup of her father for, well, something.
She thought it could not get any worse than the night everybody suddenly started talking about ghosts as if they were real. That truly was the absolute low point in a row of low points. At some point Tsuki just turned away from her other travel companions with a “I’ll be in my room” and stayed there waiting for the commotion to pass. She decided that even genin missions, picking up stray cats and fetch missions, were better than what she had been cursed with now.  She crossed her arms and her legs and closed her eyes in hopes that sleep would take this awful thing away from her, that was when the door slid open.
“I did not expect you to be so uncooperative on a mission.” Tsuki’s eyes shot open and her head slouched between her shoulders. No matter how dorky he was, her father had this presence by the sound of his voice alone. He could switch it on if he wanted, be the patriarch of the clan if need be and Tsuki was a little terrified of that version of him, though he was never unkind. Above all in the village she wanted him to be proud of her, in that regard she kind of matched her younger brother, though he had very different reasons.
She moved to the side so he could sit down next to her on the futon. “This is not a mission, it's a mid-life crisis”, Tsuki said and pulled at her mask. Kakashi put his eyebrows together: “Hurtful.”
Tsuki knew he was thoroughly studying her to give her a stern talking to, like he had so many times in her life, so she kept her eyes averted from his face and acted as if the window on the opposite side of the bed was especially interesting.
“No matter how much you think the mission is unnecessary, you should always do it to the best of your abilities, wouldn’t you tell that to your own squad?” he asked and though his voice was casual, she knew he was being serious. Tsuki hummed in agreement. “So why don’t you hold yourself to that standard?”
“Ugh, because this does not matter. I’m sure Gai and you can handle yourself well on your own and Mirai is… exhausting.” She kept pulling her mask and letting it snap back into place and then she did it again. “Maybe I’m just used to the higher standard in ANBU, but she doesn’t seem qualified to be a Jounin.”
Her father put his head to one side and closed just one of his eyes playfully, something he did sometimes when he wanted her to be honest with herself. She hated that, because if there was one thing she had gotten from her mother, it was the inability to be honest with herself.
“What is it about Mirai that annoys you so much?” he asked in his low, caring voice. “Is it the fact that she is focused on deepening her understanding about her father and her clan?” Bullseye. Of course, her father was good at these things. “I just think she is stupid”, Tsuki shot back and sounded more like a spoiled child than she had antcipated, “Why does it matter who her genetical father was? She is raised by her mother and that alone is what counts.”
He put a hand on her head and ruffled through her short brown hair. “I see why you would feel this way, but Mirai’s father is very much in her life. Through stories, through pictures, through the name she is carrying. It is now her way into adulthood to sort that part of her out, to let Asuma play a role, even if he is no longer there. It would maybe do you some good to take a page from her book and find your roots, just to close that open wound. But you never wanted to, no matter how hard we offered.”
“I think living in the past is childish”, Tsuki said with a pout. It was true that her parents had offered time and time again to help her find her original family. There were modern techniques now to do it. Tsuki knew that after the war her father had visited each major clan in the village to ask if they knew her and nobody had so the possibility was high that Tsuki had come to Konoha after the war as an orphan but was born somewhere outside of the ground of the fire country. Her skin colour was at least different enough.
“I think it is very adult of her”, Kakashi shrugged his shoulders and took his hand away from Tsuki’s hair. “She is facing a part of her that has always been with her and learning how to deal with it. That is her way of going forward into adulthood. Something I didn't learn until I was much older is that to become an adult you need to leave resentments from your childhood behind. I was a little older than Mirai and you are now and as such I think what she is doing at her age is very brave.”
Brave. The words hung heavily in the air. When he was talking about Tsuki’s resentments he didn’t only mean her birth parents, she knew that. Ever since her academy days Tsuki had struggled with her identity as a Hatake-clan member, tried to push her feelings of being a second-class child away and though her time in ANBU, her missions in other countries, her subsequent distance to her family, had given her a little peace, it was still something that clouded her mind when she couldn't stop herself.
A while they just sat there in silence, then her father touched her shoulder softly. “Well, that is up to you in the end, Tsuki. You are old enough to make decisions for your own life.” He pushed himself up and his joints cracked. “Oh”, he let out, “I guess I am old. Time to return to my mid-life- crisis vacation.” He smiled at his daughter and Tsuki felt ashamed that she had called it that way.
He waved a little and then left with a “Goodnight” and pulled the door closed. Tsuki sat in the silence and the dark that was only illuminated through moonbeams from the outside. She thought of how she had seen Mirai practice with her fathers chakra blade and how she had failed. And how she, Tsuki, herself had spent an entire summer learning the ways to use Hatake Sakumo’s tantou effectively enough to defend herself. That legendary tantou, that was right now laying on the sideboard waiting to be used again. The sword her father had called “the proof” that she was part of his clan. Adopted or not.
When Mirai came into the room, Tsuki pretended to be asleep already, but she noticed that Mirai hadn’t come alone. There was a tiny voice there of a girl, whispering into the dark about a dead mother. Great, Tsuki thought. Another one of those.
***
The girl turned out to be much less annoying than Tsuki had originally suspected. She introduced herself properly as Tatsumi in the morning, bow deep and everything, even if Tsuki did not miss the eyes moving from her to Kakashi when the last name was mentioned. The girl mostly hung around Mirai and paid Tsuki not much mind, which was appreciated by her in return. It was already exhausting enough to have ot listen to her father and Gai make stupid bets and at the same time scan the area for potential threats- of which there were none.
The day moved on quietly, with the occasional hiccup connected to whatever ryokan they were staying at. By now even Tsuki was unnerved by all the “coincidental” accidents happening no matter where they went. She was angry with herself that she hadn’t asked her father about it when they had been alone a few nights earlier. Of course she could have pulled him to the side, but he seemed to enjoy himself a lot and there was nothing she’d ever do to ruin that, even if he was embarrassing.
The ghost talk had really resonated with Mirai, who spent all day talking to Tatsum about her father. It wasn’t so much that MIrai now suddenly believed in ghosts, but the idea of them seemed to be something she fancied. Tsuki thought of what her father had said about accepting a part of yourself to become a real adult and though she tried to be sympathetic, she could just not understand that way of thinking. Tsuki was happy with who she was and who raised her, no ghost could ever change that about her.
She was just relaxing after the stressful day of having to babysit her entire party when Mirai approached her, breath heavy as if she had run all the way over, eyes dark and serious. “Tatsumi says there is a hot spring around that lets you communicate with the dead '', she began without any further introduction. Tsuki, who had been halfway to the hot spring in their current location, blinked in confusion. “A what?” she asked and Mirai shrugged her shoulders.
“I don’t really believe such a thing exists,” the other girl explained. “But Tatsumi is adamant it is around.“ Maybe that was why that little girl had followed them thus far, because she had known they were heading to whatever hot spring that was.
Tsuki sighed: “Are you still hung up on your dead relative as if it matters?” She knew she was being unnecessarily dismissive and that if her father were around he would shush her, but Mirai pushed her buttons so she couldn’t help herself.
“I told you” Mirai’s voice was now louder and harder than it had been before, “that I don’t believe in it. Tatsumi is no shinobi, I don’t know where she is going to go and what might happen to her. I don’t think she is right, but I won’t abandon her.”
“It is probably just some hallucination. A drug. A genjutsu, something like that. The dead are dead Mirai, move on.” Tsuki felt the cold words on her tongue and knew they’d be like gasoline on Mirai’s growing anger. “I don’t care - I’m just doing my mission to protect the vulnerable.” Without saying another word she turned on her heel and marched away.
Tsuki watched her locks bounce away with every step, watched how MIra’s frame moved sight to side as she walked, how her hands were put into fists…. She kept her gaze on the walking woman until Mirai was no longer visible, only then could Tsuki pull her eyes away and now she also marched away.
“I told you you are a stupid iditot”, Tsuki mumbled.
***
The door to her room swung open without invitation. Gai had evidently pushed it with his good leg, the other balancing on the one that was currently not wearing his prosthetic. “Where did they go?” he asked in his loud, low voice. Tsuki had enjoyed laying in her quiet room on her futon, no Mirai and / or others being annoying. She put down the book she had only been half reading, a little too distracted in her thoughts to even concentrate enough, and looked up to find the dark eyes of her father: “Gone.” She said, “They said they’ll go look for an onsen that lets you meet the dead.”
Kakashi and Gai exchanged a look and Tsuki’s eyes darted open immediately. This was something that was not news to them, in fact, she could deduce that they absolutely knew what Tsuki was talking about. “A Hot spring where one can meet the dead, huh,” Kakashi said and Gai nodded: “That would explain many things.”
“What things?” Tsuki threw in but the adults both ignored her. “I mean,” Gai continued. “It could be some kind of trick that could be used to abduct girls. After all there are nations where women are needed for reproduction.” He mentioned it so casually that Tsuki felt the goosebumps on her arms.
“They might also just use them for a ritual or a need of their body, blood or consciousness for something”, her father now mused and his way of talking reminded Tsuki too much of the early Anbu missions she had run with Captain Sai.
“Dad!” she screamed finally, “Can you fill me in here please?” His eyes wandered back to hers and he put his head to the side. “I don’t know how much time we have, but I can tell you on the way.” Tsuki grabbed the tantou on the side of the bed and put it into the shaft on her back. The time to pretend to be innocent travellers was clearly over, so she was carrying it openly again.
Turned out she had been completely correct in her assessment that the entire mission had been a setup from her father and that yes, she had been especially chosen for her excellent ability to assess surroundings. From the very start he and Gai had been sent to the Land of Steam to investigate mysterious disappearances of girls and the circumstance behind them. When Tsuki asked why both Mirai and her had been left in the dark about this, her father had said that their mission had from the start been personal protection and so they were not lied to or deceived. That was a flimsy explanation, but there was no time to argue about it now.
They arrived at the cave and burst through the barrier of cultists that had been positioned in the entryway. Tsuki took her tantou oud and cut down some of them, while her father pressed forward. When she finally caught up with them Mirai was fighting on her own. Tsuki watched her fly and swirl through the air. She had never really seen MIrai fight, not more than her misguided training sessions with the chakra blades.
The opponent was apparently a follower of jashin, some crazy misguided religion with even weirder habits than the Uchiha gods that her brother Obito loved reading about so much. He had trapped girls under the earth in a cave to extract their blood and he had taken special interest in Mirai, who was now fighting tooth and nail against him. When Tsuki wanted to push past her father to support the other woman, he caught her hand and held her back.
“A follower of Jashin killed her father”, he explained as he pressed her wrist tightly. “This is her fight. We should only interfere if she really can’t do it anymore.” Tsuki didn’t like that. Mirai was too weak to fight on her own, too stuck in the past to accept her abilities now and anyway Tsuki had always been the stronger, more talented person of the two of them. Clearly she was more qualified to undertake this situation.
But she stayed away as her father instructed and watched instead. There was a squirmish, an exchange of blows back and forth and then, finally, the cultist pushed a spear through Mirai’s insides, forcing her to push over and fall flat on her face. Tsuki cried out before she could stop herself, pulled as hard as she could at the arm that was still in her fathers grip and yelled at him. “She needs my help, don’t you get it?” The grey eyes of her father softened at her spitting words, but he did not let her go. “She is more capable than you think”, he said calmly.
How could I ever be so calm about this? How could they all be so stupid? Clearly, she had thought it was her stupid destiny to fight this cult member and had taken on too much for her to handle. If Mirai had just listened to what Tsuki had said from the beginning, if she had just let the past be the past, none of them would be in this situation. Now she was bleeding out on the floor for what? For a father that she never knew? That never cared because he didn’t know? A father that had gotten himself killed and abandoned her before she could even be old enough to understand? How was that so important? Why couldn’t Mirai just live in the present?
Tsuki screamed, what exactly she did not know, but her father did not let her go. “Trust her”, he said and pressed his fingers together reassuringly. Tsuki could feel the pain and anger in her throat. Nightmare mission. The mission of hell. Weeks of torture leading up to this, the worst. Nothing compared to the pain of a comrade dying, especially if it was for a useless cause.
It only was a blink, at least later Tsuki would swear it had been nothing but a short blink, and Mirai was on her feet again, standing, both chakra blades in hand, ready to take out her opponent. Tsuki’s breath came heavy, she felt confused and overwhelmed. “Genjutsu”, she said and her father finally let go of her wrist. “A good one too, if it fooled you”, he laughed a little. “Well, she has that from her mother.”
Mirai used the chakra blades to defend herself as if she had never done anything else in her life, as if she’d been born to use them. Tsuki could hardly believe her eyes how much easier it looked in comparison to the training sessions Mirai had had just a few weeks earlier. The weapon and her seemed like one entity, swirling together like a dance, ready to finish a fight her father had started so many years ago. Gai whispered: “It’s almost like Asuma is here.” Tsuki frowned with a bitter taste in her mouth. She had never met Sarutobi Asuma, but she had to agree. This was exactly how she had imagined him.
She watched Mirai stand up tall, spine straightened out and strong, representing both her mother who had raised and trained her and given her her upbeat personality, and her father, who had not been there in person but whose love had coated and protected her all these years and given her conviction. Tsuki thought of herself. Of the colour of her skin adn the name she had been given, the only indicators of the life she had had before she became a hatake. How her father had called it mature to understand both sides of yourself to grow into an adult, how he as often has been completely correct with that assessment.
***
They patched things up quickly and the girls that had been brought underground were let go. There was a lot of support needed, they had all spent weeks without much food thinking they might be able to see their dead relatives again and could now not be condoled. Tsuki watched it all from afar, watched how MIrai treated them with a kind smile and a touch of her hand. There was no hint of arrogance in her demeanour, and though she had been correct in her assessment of the scam hot spring, she did not even mention it in front of Tatsumi. Tsuki pulled her mask forward and let it snap back in place as she watched.
Finally, Mirai turned over to her, striding over to stand next to Tsuki in the warm sun of the next morning. “I guess you were right after all”, Mirai said casually and Tsuki squirmed. “It was a trick.”
“Don’t - “ Tsuki looked over. They were almost the same height, now that they were standing next to each other, which Tsuki just a little smaller than Mirai. She had never looked clearly into the red eyes of the opposite, had never seen the light as clearly in thema s she could see them now. How curly her hair was at the back of her neck, how narrow her shoulders were too. “You didn’t believe in that crap from the beginning. So we both were right in that regard. I- I was just being an asshole for no reason.”
Mirai laughed a little and for some reason Tsuki had to take her eyes away from the other woman’s face. She fiddled with her mask again. “I saw what you did in there”, Tsuki mumbled. “That was very - brave of you, to stand against such a difficult opponent on your own.” She paused for a second. “I think your dad would have been proud.”
“I’m pretty sure he would have,” Mirai replied and ruffled her own hair with her right hand. “I finally got his chakra blades down. I can’t deny that I’m a little sad that I didn’t get to talk to him, though. There is just so much I would like to know.”
“There are always people around you who will help you answer those questions, your mom, my dad, Gai, Shikamaru-sensei.” Tsuki talked more to her feet now.
With a sigh she said: “I guess so” and then she patted Tsuki on the back with soft force. “I guess Gai- san and your father lied to both of us huh? I’m sorry for you, that must have been a nightmare mission to undertake.”
Tsuki looked up again. Mirai was smiling at her, the morning sun shining warm and new over her head which reflected in her black hair. There was a weird rumble in Tsuki’s stomach, something between hunger and sadness and she only managed to say: “It wasn’t all bad… I think.”

Kakashi x Naruto’s Mother Figure! Reader
Bro I am literally buzzing with excitement to post this like u don’t even know. This thing is my baby 💞💞💞💞
Also, throwing this out here because your relationship with Naruto is so sweet it makes me wanna vomit. You can’t convince me that Naruto isn’t all for affection and has NO SHAME about it. I don’t make the rules.
This is real long too. (2k words lmaoo) Strap in lmao.
NSFW at the bottom.
I’ll see u in the next paaarrttt 😉😊
Tumblr media
You walked idly behind Naruto keeping your gaze on the back of his head as he blabbered about what was happening today, “Ma! Are you even listening to me?” You knew he was making the face, the face that tugged at your heart strings. Humming, you answered, “Of course! Today is the day you get assigned to your team. You’re very excited Naruto. I know.” He seemed happy with your answer, and turned to continue on his path. You watched the back of his head, even as his arms came up, and he continued to brag about how he was going to be hokage. It made your chest tighten, the sight of him. Your boy. You had no doubts about his future plans. Naruto was nothing if not determined.
People stared as your overzealous boy yelled about his future plans. They always did, but with you looming behind they wouldn’t dare utter a word about him. You stood at the gates of the academy with him, the tightness in your chest hit harder now, and you leaned to gather him in a hug. His arms wrapped around your shoulders, and he pulled you closer. You laughed at the nervous expression on his face, trailing your fingers along the side of his face. You pressed a sweet kiss to the side of his head, “Go on. Get out of here, trouble.” Naruto beamed up at you, “Bye, Ma! I’ll see you later!” You stayed at the gates, watching him disappear into the building. When he was no longer in your sight, you turned, and began on your venture to work.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was late when you saw him again, a frown creased along your features as he explained what had happened during his day. Sakura and Sasuke were on his team. Team 7. Your frown broke when he began to explain that he was better than Sasuke, and he was going to prove it. “And he tied me to a stump, Ma! A stump!” You had never met Kakashi, but the thought of him put a bitter taste in your mouth. “We have training tomorrow! Do.. do you want to walk me there?” You hummed from your place in the kitchen, eyes cutting to his face, “Would you like for me to walk you there?” The pink on his cheeks from your question made a slow smile pull at the corners of your mouth, “I mean.. You just walk with me every morning. I wouldn’t want you to be lonely or anything..” His arms crossed along his chest, and you moved to ruffle his hair, “You are just so thoughtful. Of course I will walk with you.”
The next morning couldn’t come quick enough for Naruto. It was hell attempting to get him to sit still enough to eat breakfast. He was bouncing through the village, urging you to just move a little faster, “Ma! Can you even walk any faster?” You rolled your eyes at him, “Relax, trouble. At the speed your going now, we won’t be late.” When you broke through the trees the first thing you spotted was the pink of Sakura’s hair. It matched the tint on her cheeks you noted. She was attempting to get closer to Sasuke, who looked like he would like to set the small girl on fire. Your eyes wandered for a few seconds before you realized that they were alone. Was he late to his own training? This had to have been a joke.
Sakura was the first to notice you, “Naruto! Oh! Hi, Miss Y/N!” You smiled at the girl, “Good morning Sakura,” You leaned to look at the lone boy, “Sasuke.” He mumbled a soft good morning to you, ignoring Naruto’s presence completely. You couldn’t fight the small smile that brushed over your features at the scowl that broke on Naruto’s features. You turned to him, arms opening, “I have to leave now if I don’t want to be late.” Naruto stepped into your arms, wrapping around you to press into your midsection, “I told you we should have walked faster.” There was something shaky in his voice, he didn’t want you to leave yet. You hummed, “I suppose we can walk a little faster tomorrow morning.”
The smile that broke on his face quelled your worries, “You promise?” You nodded at him, hands moving to fix his head band, “I promise.” You let him out of your grip, head tilting, “Go on.” Naruto nodded, moving away from you to move next to where Sakura was standing. You turned to move away when a voice rang through the small clearing, “Sorry I’m late. There was an... old lady that needed my help crossing the street.” The bitter taste in your mouth returned, and you kept moving until you heard Naruto, “Ma! Wait!” He was by your side in seconds pulling you along with him, “Naruto! Stop tugging me!” Now, as you stood in front of Kakashi, you wished the bitter taste was still in your mouth.
God, he just had to be handsome, didn’t he? You stood toe to toe with the man that was teaching your son, and you could tell from the get go, you didn’t like him. Naruto broke the staring contest, “Kakashi-Sensei, this is my Ma. Ma, this is Kakashi-Sensei.” His hand outstretched to shake yours, and you stared at it for a few seconds before taking it with two fingers. You introduced yourself by name before pulling away. Kakashi in return introduced himself, adding on a, “I’ve heard a lot about you. From Naruto, and just village chatter,” He paused, thinking about what to say before continuing, “You have quite the reputation.” The thoughts about him being handsome disappeared, the bitterness bubbling in your throat, “I’ll bet you have,” the tone of your voice came out snippy, “I wish I could say the same.” The look of surprise in his dark eye sent a wave of pride through you. You turned back to Naruto, “I have to go, trouble. I’ll see you at home.” Naruto gave you a nod, and a quick hug. You tossed a smile at Kakashi as you turned to leave, “A pleasure.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your next few meetings with Kakashi went the same, and he always looked so smug. The bastard. You would pay serious money to knock that look in his eye off his face. Maybe it was your nerves talking. You had been on edge since the first parts of the Chuunin exam, and finding out that Kakashi hadn’t been teaching Naruto anything burned through your last shred of patience. Naruto had made you promise to not get involved, but you couldn’t help it. This was grating on every nerve you had. To top it all off, he still had the nerve to wave at you when he saw you in the village. Did you ever wave back? No, you didn’t. Did that stop him? No, it didn’t.
It was midday when you decided that enough was enough. As you stood on Kakashi’s doorstep, you reasoned with yourself. You weren’t here to fight. You were here to listen to what he had to say, and then counter whatever he said, calmly. Like adults. Your hand knocked on the door, and you steadied yourself, arms crossing your chest. Kakashi answered the door, and your thighs clenched. His uncovered eye was bleary, and his hair was more rumpled than normal. He stared you down, “Can I help you?”
You bit your tongue, forcing a tight smile instead, “Can we talk?” The door opened wider, “Is it important?” You struggled to keep your smile, “It’s about Naruto.” He shook his head, mocking your stance, “That isn’t what I asked.” You scoffed out a, “Well I would like to think it is important.” He hummed out, “Well it seems like we have two different definitions of important.” Your lips pulled back, the smile completely gone, “Are you insinuating that my son isn’t important?” He seemed to stop, thoughts running through his head, “Yes. I suppose that is what I am insinuating.”
Your blood ran cold, before bubbling with rage. The loud ‘snap’ of your hand making harsh contact with the side of his face sent you reeling, shoving your way into his apartment you snapped out a, “And I was here to be nice. I get it! You’re a very busy man, but you’re going to listen.” He was still in the door way, thinking about what exactly had just happened.. you slapped him. You actually slapped him. He turned to stare at you, and in your rage you snapped a, “What the fuck is your problem?” Hand rubbing his cheek he snapped back at you, “What the fuck do you think my problem is?”
Your lips pulled back again, “You’re supposed to be a ninja! And you’re telling me that a slap incapacitates you? I knew I should have got a different teacher for Naruto!” A laugh broke out of Kakashi’s chest, “You want a different teacher for him? Then get him one! I’m not doing this.” He turned to move down the hallway, “Don’t walk away from me!” He turned back making quick work of closing the distance between you, “So that’s why you’re here then? You don’t like how I’m teaching him?” You snuffed, “I don’t like how you’re not teaching him.” Kakashi laughed at you again, “This is pathetic.”
“it’s not fair!” Your voice was loud, louder than it should have been considering how close you were to him. You were drowning, in both your rage, and how close he was to you. The look in his eye was distracting, and you couldn’t help but notice the shift of his gaze move to your mouth. You were flooded, white hot rage, and pure arousal pulsing through your veins. God, when did he get so close?
Your breathing hitched as his hand gripped your chin, “I don’t care about what you think is fair!” The rage was bubbling low in your stomach reared it’s head, “get your hands off me!” Kakashi was startled by the harsh shove, and you didn’t stop there. Chasing after him, hands ready to press him back harder this time, you let out a, “Naruto deserves the best, and that is not what you are giving him!”
You were cut short, hands catching yours before they made contact with him. Kakashi seemed a lot more intimidating now, as his hands clenched your wrists, and he shoved you back first against the door. You managed to catch his gaze, teeth snapping like a caged animal, but before you could speak he was pressing against you, close enough to share your heated breaths, “do you ever shut up?”
The tension in the room switched, and Kakashi moved, keeping your wrists in one hand, and he tugged his mask down. You met him somewhere in the middle, a clash of teeth and tongue. His hand released your wrists to tug at the hair on your nape and pull you into a deeper kiss. Your hands gripped his biceps, nails digging into his skin. He moaned into your mouth when your hands trailed his chest. You pulled back, sharing a gaze before he pulled his shirt over his head. You followed suit, tugging your shirt off. You moved forward, but his hand caught your throat and he shoved you back to the wall mouth catching yours again.
The drag of his cock made you dizzy, and you seemed to forget what exactly you had came here for. One of your hands clenched his forearm as he shoved your face deeper into the wall. Your nipples peaked at the cool, smooth texture. His hot breath against the back of your neck made you clench down tighter, “This is what you needed, isn’t it? You needed that attitude fucked right out of you.”  You choked on your moan of his name, hips jolting back to meet his, “Yes, sir.” He moaned back at you, lips pressing open mouthed kisses to your shoulder. You shuddered at the next tug of his cock on your insides, hand clenching his forearm tighter, the other pushing your face off the wall. You stood on your tiptoes, hips shifting down, “K-Kakashi!”
“I know.” Your hips moved more urgently against his, eyes lolling when he pressed against the spongy spot that rested against the base of your spine. Your eyes fluttered, and you shuddered against him another cry of his name breaking from your chest. Kakashi pulled out of you, hand working against his cock urgently as he tugged you to your knees. Your eyes opened, and you moaned at the sight of him, “Open your mouth.” You did as he asked, and the sight of you sent him spiraling. You managed to catch more of his cum than he thought you would be able to. You were impressive, he realized.
Now, considering what you had done, you decided to drop the subject. You stood, fully dressed in front of his door. Kakashi was watching you, his dark gaze making your heart flutter. You cleared your throat speaking first, “This was unprofessional,” you paused motioning between the two of you, “and it can’t happen again.” Kakashi hummed along, eye shining, “Okay. You’re right.” You nodded at him, “Have a.. good night.” You left, and managed to make it back home in record time. God, you just had to go and make things awkward, didn’t you?

lacuna - chapter one.
Tumblr media
*lacuna: a blank space; a missing piece or, “you’re my missing piece”.
word count: 4,026
a/n: here it is! (like four days late) my new series :) it will eventually be a kakashi hatake x reader, but im starting off things slow. i honestly have no idea how long this’ll be, we are just kind of going with the flow currently. nonetheless, i hope you guys enjoy this first chapter!
“Lord Third—!”
“We’ve set him up with an apartment, I’ve taken care of how his monthly expenses will work once he’s old enough. Y/N, honestly, there is no need for worry. The boy will be taken care of.”
“By who?”
The Hokage frowns, and you can tell by his lack of response that there isn’t specifically anyone.
Huffing, your shoulders fall. Your throat feels raw and the pure desperation flooding through your veins is making you lose sight of coherent thought. All you can think about is getting your point across, about trying to make the Hokage see reason—he had to see reason.
He had to understand.
“He’s just a child,” you cry out; forgetting yourself, forgetting who you’re stood before. “He shouldn’t grow up alone.”
“Y/N, you are a child yourself.”
Faltering, you shake your head, apprehension coursing through you as his words sink in. He was right, of course he was—you were just a child, no older than fourteen and by all rights, you were probably, realistically the least most qualified person to take care of a child. Of a baby no less. But he had nobody else. Not anymore, and certainly not when everyone who heard his name shrank away in pure terror.
No one wanted to take care of him, a mere baby, because of what was inside him. It hardly mattered either way to you—Kushina had had the same ‘monster’ in her, and she’d been like a mother to you. A guiding figure in your life. Never once had she scared you, hurt you and rather, she’d comforted you, cared for you and loved you when no one else had.
You weren’t afraid of this monster and you certainly weren’t afraid of this baby.
What did it even matter that you were a child? You’d been taking care of yourself for as long as you could remember and had done just fine.
Besides, anything was better than growing up alone.
You knew that better than anyone.
“Kushina and Minato took care of me when no one else would,” you whisper, the Hokage’s eyes widening at the mention of their names, a deep frown curling onto his lips. “Kushina was like the mother I never had and I know she would hate if her baby, her son grew up alone. With no one to love him. To hold him, care for him...
“I know I am just a child myself, Lord Third. But please,” steeling your gaze, you meet his own firmly, squaring your shoulders. “I don’t want Naruto to grow up not knowing what love feels like.”
His lips part, but words hesitate to leave.
“Like I did.”
Letting out a sigh, the Hokage’s head falls in defeat. It takes him a moment, a pause in thought, before his head is lifting and he’s pushing himself to his feet. You watch him closely as he rounds his table, before stopping before you, a gentle hand falling on your shoulder and a soft smile curling onto his lips.
“I will help with expenses and we will figure out how to work out missions for you.”
Your eyes gleam with hope, promise shining in them.
“But, Y/N, are you absolutely sure?”
And without hesitation, without even a thought of doubt, you nod.
“Of course I am.”
Before you know it, he’s in your arms. A bundle of giggles and blonde hair, wrapped up tightly in a blue blanket with small, chubby hands reaching out for you. You see Minato in him, the tufts of blonde hair and striking blue eyes, but it’s the expression in his eyes--just a baby, no more than a few weeks old--that you see Kushina staring back at you.
The tears well in your eyes before you can stop them, blurring your vision as he continues to babble on up at you.
Reaching out a finger, you poke at the whiskers marking his cheeks ever-so-gently, a smile curling onto your lips when he giggles at the touch. The sound is infectious and it warms your heart, love blooming in your chest as you sniffle.
“My names Y/N, Naruto,” you whisper, “and I’m going to take care of you for your mama and papa.”
“Naruto!”
His head is bowed so all you can see is his wild blonde hair staring back at you, hands folded in his lap as he brings his knees closer to his chest. You know it’s an attempt to hide himself from you; definitely, at the very least, hiding his face from your eyes. But you’ve been nearly out of your mind in worry for him, searching high and low through the village, that you don’t have the mind to care.
Falling to your knees before him, you let out a huff. “I’ve been worried sick about you, Naruto! You know you’re not supposed to--”
But your words fall silent as he slowly tips his head up, just enough to see his face and the scuffs marks across his forehead and his clothes, dirtying the freshly washed shirt you’d given him earlier that morning. However, that hardly bothers you and rather, it’s the large bruise across his cheek that catches your attention, eyes widening in panic as you instantly reach out for him, fingers softly brushing against the darkening mark as he winces.
“Naruto... What happened?”
Your voice is soft, a mere whisper; not a single trace of anger or frustration left in your voice as you frown deeply, chest tightening with panic.
Who could’ve done this to him? A little boy, no older than four--
Then it sinks.
“Naruto,” you call gently, a hand falling to his chin where you gently tip it upwards, meeting his eyes properly. “Did the villagers do this to you?”
His eyes instantly water, bottom lip wobbling as you feel your heart practically shatter. It’s not only the sight--a little boy, reduced to tears by cruel adults who sneer at him, say horrible, cruel things to him, and throw things at him hard enough to leave bruises. But the realization that no matter how hard you try, no matter how many times you’ve yelled and pleaded--falling to your knees, begging, in front of people--just for them to stop.
Stop terrorizing him.
None of it matters.
Their fear is too strong that they hardly care to see reason.
“I-I don’t understand,” Naruto babbles—words slurred and fumbled as tears stream down his cheeks and a sob wretches past his lips. You hastily wipe at his tears, the frown on your lips deepening as his tiny fingers grip onto the hem of his shirt, knuckles white. “I didn’t do anything!”
And he’s right of course. He hasn’t. Naruto, four years old, hasn’t done other than maybe break a plate or throw a tantrum for a silly reason. He’s a perfectly innocent child, maybe a little mischievous but nothing more than that.
But this monster, this thing inside of him—that was hardly in his control—had. More than just had; it’s killed people. Innocents. Terrorized the village. Killed Naruto’s own parents. And it’s just because it’s inside Naruto that he’s feared.
It’s hardly fair but you can’t do anything about it.
Mustering a smile to your lips, you hope it’s convincing enough as you lean back, pulling Naruto gently up to his feet. He lets you lead him, the tears having faded but still a frown on his lips as you dust off the dirt on his clothes, tidying him up.
“Come on, Naruto.” You call gently, brushing a hand over his bruise. “Let’s get you home, get you in some new clothes and how about I take you out for ramen tonight?”
Almost instantly, his face brightens. His eyes shine at the thought of his favourite food, especially from Ichiraku and not cup-style, and the pain is far from his gaze as he eagerly takes your extended hand, threading his fingers through your own firmly. His hand feels warm in yours, and like a perfect fit as you squeeze back, chuckling to yourself as he bounds ahead of you, skipping and pulling you along.
“You didn’t have to walk me...”
“It’s your first day, Naruto! Of course I had to.”
Blushing profusely, Naruto huffs, turning his head away from you as you merely sigh, shaking your head.
“Lot’s of other kids have their parents walking them.” You call out, hoping that he’s not actually that mad at you for your insistence to walk him—you knew it was slightly embarrassing, but you couldn’t help yourself! You remember your first day at the academy and how nervous you’d been. You didn’t want Naruto to have to go alone.
Even though the young boy was the complete opposite of you and was the furthest thing from nervous.
Crouching down next to Naruto, you point ahead of yourself. “Look, there’s a pretty pink-haired girl walking with her dad. See?”
Naruto peeks slightly, behind his hand which he’s used to cover his reddening cheeks, and when seeing what you have, his shoulders slowly fall and his hand returns to his side. The red in his cheeks fade slightly and he takes a good look around, noticing that, yes, in fact, lot’s of kids were being walked to school by their parents.
“…Thank you, Y/N-nee-chan.”
Smiling softly, you ruffle the top of Naruto’s head, laughing as he quickly swats at your hands.
“Your hairs already a mess, Naruto. I’m helping.”
“No, I styled it this morning!”
“With what?”
“Water.”
Rolling your eyes, you snort—but still, you pull your hand away.
“Okay,” you inhale sharply, “you’ll be good, right?”
Meeting your eyes, Naruto huffs. “Of course.”
Quirking a brow, you raise a finger, starting to list of the rules you’d gone through with him before. “No pranks, no yelling or interrupting the teacher, stay in your seat until the end of class--”
“Yes, yes, Y/N-nee-chan! I get it!”
Huffing, you nod, a smile gracing your lips as you reluctantly stop. A quick glance to your right and you see Iruka-sensei calling forth the new students and know it’s time to say goodbye.
Ignoring the tightening of your chest and the worry, you turn back to Naruto, setting your hands over his arms.
“I’ll pick you up after school, okay?”
“Okay.”
“Right here.”
“Yes! I’m gonna be late.”
Knowing Naruto’s right, you nod, letting go of him with a nervous smile.
But, just before he runs off, Iruka’s voice growing louder, Naruto leans forward, pressing a firm but gentle kiss to your cheek. It’s quick and when he pulls back, he’s red in the face, but there’s also a bright, radiating grin on his face and you feel your heart bloom at the sight of him so happy.
“Bye Y/N-nee-chan!”
Waving back at him, you watch him run in to the building past Iruka, pushing yourself up as you press a hand to your cheek.
What a sweet boy.
“I can’t believe she would take in such a child.”
“She must be as much of a monster herself.”
Rolling your eyes at the passing comments, you clutch the bag of groceries tighter. At this point, it was easy enough to ignore the gossip that travelled amongst the village. People could hardly keep their opinions to themselves, and outside of your fellow coworkers, quite a lot of the citizens seemed to be puzzled by your decision to take in Naruto.
As if he wasn’t just a child.
Nonetheless, you weren’t as childish yourself to retaliate. Truly they could say what they want about you, it hardly—
“How does she know he won’t murder her like he murdered the Fourth Hokage and his wife?”
Stilling in your step, your body freezes.
Head turning over your shoulder, you glance around, looking for the woman who’d spoken. She’s easy enough to find; tucked into an corner next to a fruit stand, whispering with her friend like two school girls.
Eyes sharpening, you turn towards her, marching right her way.
The two woman’s eyes widen when they see you’re approaching figure, shuffling back slightly in uncertainty as you bound towards them. You’re practically huffing in frustration, anger and disbelief coursing through your veins at their complete lack of respect and decency.
“I’d appreciate if you kept your mouths shut on matters that don’t concern you.”
The woman who’d spoken, scoffs; “excuse me?”
“You know what I’m talking about,” you hiss, leaning further towards her. “You can say all you want about me, but he’s just a boy. I won’t tolerate you spitting such ridiculous lies—“
“Y/N-nee-chan?”
Pausing at the sound Naruto’s soft voice, your eyes widen at the sight of him stood slightly behind you, glancing at you with furrowed brows and a frown.
“Naruto…”
You hear a gasp and you just barely manage to catch sight of the two woman gasping in fright at the sight of Naruto before quickly turning around, running the other direction.
Scoffing, you roll your eyes. Pathetic.
“Nee-chan?”
Turning back to Naruto, you smile down at him softly, extending your hand out towards him.
“Come on, Naruto. Let’s get you home. It’s almost dinner time.”
“Oh! Oh! Can we have ramen for dinner?”
Laughing lightly you shake your head, “we had ramen last night, Naruto. You need a better diet for a growing boy.”
“Would you like me to help with shuriken practice today?”
The continuous sound of Naruto’s slurping suddenly stops, and with a quirked brow, you turn your head over your shoulder, brows furrowing at the expression on his face.
Frowning, you shake your head.
“We don’t have to--”
“You’d really help me, nee-chan?”
Frowning, you set the plate you’d been drying down, making your way over to the table and taking a seat in front of Naruto.
“Of course,” you say with ease, nodding. “Why wouldn’t I?”
Naruto shrugs. “Everybody in my class is always talking about their fathers and brothers training them... There’s this one boy, Sasuke-teme. He thinks he’s so much better than me and he always beats me at everything! And I saw him with his brother today after school talking about how excited he was for shuriken training, and I don’t think it’s fair that he has someone to train him.”
Lips parting, your chest tightens as you feel guilt flood you.
You hadn’t realized Naruto wanted someone to train him that badly. Sometimes you’re so wrapped up in missions and trying to make sure Naruto has everything he needs that you sometimes forget how he must be feeling sometimes. Or about the basic, day-to-day bonding he’d be craving as a young boy. You’re not his mother, and you made sure Naruto knew that—the Hokage doesn’t want him to know who is parents are, a fact you’ve fought tooth and nail for with the no avail.
But you didn’t want Naruto thinking you were his mother—not when he had two parents who loved him deeply. And always would, even in death.
And even if you’re not his mother, you’re certainly (obviously) not his father—and you couldn’t give him that guidance that a young boy needs from one. You could hardly speak from experience, having no father yourself.
“I’m sorry, Naruto,” you sigh, shoulders slumping as you shake your head. “I didn’t realize how you must be feeling.”
Lips parting, Naruto moves to speak—but you don’t realize, and continue on before he can.
“I know I can’t be a strong father or a cool brother to you, and never can be, but I’d love to help you with your training. Whenever you need, okay?”
“Y/N-nee-chan.”
Blinking at Naruto’s oddly stern voice, you meet his gaze.
“I don’t care if I don’t have a father or brother,” he whispers, “I just want you to train me.”
Body easing, a warmth floods your chest at his words, a bright smile curling onto your lips.
“Finish your supper and then we’ll go out to train, okay?”
“Okay!”
“Good luck today, okay, Naruto?”
With a bright, shining grin, Naruto hardly falters just like he always does. Today was the day, the test that would confirm if he would be a ninja or not. He’s, unfortunately, failed two times previous today and the two have you have been relentlessly to help him sharpen his skills.
He was pretty good at most things... mostly good. But he seemed to struggle at producing a shadow clone, one of the basics that a child needed to know in order to graduate from the ninja academy. You’ve been working hard to try and help him at least create one semi successful shadow clone, but have yet to be able to.
Nonetheless, despite you spending the entire night worrying—Naruto had woken up with a bright smile, never wavering and not an ounce of doubt in his mind.
If there’s one thing Naruto had, it was confidence
“Of course, nee-chan. I’m gonna pass the test today, for sure.”
Biting your lip, you swallow thickly. You smile lightly, meeting his eyes with a nervous laugh. “I’m sure you will. But... even if you don’t, I won’t be any less proud of you, okay?” Naruto’s face falters and he frowns down at you, not understanding your words.
“I just mean... there are lots of other things besides being a ninja, right? You don’t have—”
“Of course I have to!” Naruto sharply interrupts you, stunning you as you blink at him. His face has hardened and he looks suddenly ten times more determined than he had seconds prior. “I already told you. I’m going to be Hokage one day, nee-chan, and will make the world recognize me. Believe it!”
Shoulders easing, you smile slightly. “Yes, of course. I’m sorry, Naruto. I know you will.”
Grinning, Naruto sends you a thumbs up. “Today’s the day! I know it! I’ll be one step closer to being Hokage, and being able to protect you, nee-chan.”
Cheeks warming, your smile brightens at his innocent, warming words.
Reaching forward, you lightly ruffle his hair. “I know, Naruto. You’re gonna pass today, believe it!”
He shrugs your hands away, but grins at your words, his thumbs up never wavering as he shuffles back.
“When I see you later today, nee-chan, I’m gonna have a headband, believe it!”
“Please, Lord Third, you have to understand! I’m sure he didn’t mean it. He’s a good boy, a really good boy. I know he plays pranks a lot and can cause trouble for the village but Naruto means well. If I could just speak to him, I know he didn’t do this—!”
The Hokage raises his hand and you still have half the mind to understand what that means and what your position is as a ninja. Wisely shutting your mouth, you ignore the tightening of your chest and the way you desperately want to plead and beg until you’re positive Naruto is okay.
Instead, you keep your mouth shut, waiting patiently.
You know the Hokage is not a cruel man and you pray he’ll have sympathy for Naruto.
“You misunderstand me, Y/N.”
Brows furrowing, you glance up to meet his eyes.
“I have no intention of bringing any harm to Naruto. I merely want to find him and the scroll.”
Eyes widening, your lips part; “I—!”
“Surely you understand why I cannot send you after the boy, Y/N. But I promise you, I’ve sent teams to find him already and I’ll bring him safe back to you.”
Shoulders easing, you bite back the argument about finding Naruto yourself. It’d be wise not to push the Hokage more—because at the end of the day, you know what Naruto has done is terribly wrong. Stealing The Scroll of Sealing... You can’t believe the boy would have the nerve to do so.
You honestly thought you raised him better than to do something so childish and stupid. An act like that would normally be considered an act of treason, and you have all the Gods to thank, and the Hokage stood before you that Naruto’s actions haven’t.
You don’t know what you’d do if they had.
Setting a hand on your shoulder, much like he had on that day twelve years ago, the Hokage squeezes it; as if already knowing the thoughts that swarm your mind relentlessly.
“Just wait here.”
And so you do. You do, and it feels like eternity has passed when really it’s only been an hour. You’ve dug welts into your palms from clenching your fists so hard, and you’re sure you’ve dug a whole in your own lip from biting it so hard. And you’re just about to disregard the Hokage ordering you to stay put and find Naruto yourself, when the door opens.
When you turn, eyes wide with hope and anticipation; the first person you see is Iruka. And for a second, just a split second, your heart plummets and you fear the worst, but then you see a peak of blonde hair and relief floods your entire body, easing the muscles that had been tensed since you’d heard about what Naruto had done.
With a gasp, you call out; “Iruka!”
He smiles at you, and distantly you notice the wounds marking his face. But you can barely think of asking him if he’s okay when he turns, letting Naruto slip past him and your eyes finally fall on the boy that’s sent you into a near panic attack with absolute worry and fear, your feet moving before you can stop them.
Naruto walks in slowly, head bowed, fearing how mad you’ll be. Especially when he wouldn’t expect anything else, knowing how severe of a mistake he’s made. However, he’s shocked when instead of hearing yelling or receiving lecture, he feels your arms wrapping around him tightly, pulling you flush against your chest as you press a hand to the back of his head.
He’s frozen still with surprise for a moment. But then, as Naruto listens, his lips frown and his guilt-ridden gaze turns to one of concern when he hears how shaky your breathing is. He also, in that moment, notices how despite how tightly you’re squeezing him, he can feel you shaking against him and hear your heart pounding erratically against his ear that’s pressed against your chest.
“I was so worried,” you breathe, voice a gentle whisper.
Iruka slips out of the room then, but neither of you notice.
“Don’t ever do that to me again.”
Slowly easing in your grasp, Naruto shakes his head in your grip, pulling away enough to meet your gaze. “You’re not mad?”
“I was,” you admit, nodding at him with a deep frown. Naruto falters, guilt flooding his gaze once again, avoiding your gaze, but you just shake your head, letting your hands fall on his arms. “But I’m just happy you’re okay and safe and—“
Pausing, your eyes catch a glint of silver and your lips part.
“Is that—?”
“Oh,” blushing, Naruto chuckles faintly, bashful. “Iruka-sensei gave it to me. He told me I’d proved myself as a ninja.”
Eyes widening, it’s take you a second to process Naruto’s words before a full fledge smile curls onto your lips. You have no idea what had happened tonight, but you know Naruto and his infectious ability to help everything and everyone around him. You’re sure he’s barely aware of it himself, but him simply just being apart of your life has healed you in ways you’d never thought possible.
You figure that he’d done that tonight, and proved he was ready to be the ninja you’d always knew he’d be.
A squeal of excitement leaves your lips, stunning Naruto, before he finds himself wrapped tightly in your waiting embrace once more.
“Nee-chan!” He sputters, startled.
“I’m so proud of you, Naruto! So, so proud!”
And after a moment, seeing the genuine pride shining in your eyes and the bright, radiating smile on your face, Naruto returns your embrace, smaller arms moving to wrap around your waist as he presses his head into the crook of your neck.
He relishes in the moment, eyes falling shut.
“I’m gonna be Hokage one day, nee-chan, and I swear to you, I’ll protect you for the rest of my life, believe it!”

Mood 🎧 JAYMES YOUNG - Happiest Year
"I'm really on the ropes this time I've been fighting all my life for you I never should have said goodbye But maybe that's what stupid people do"
“You are going where now?” you asked releasing your hair from the ponytail while making your way downstairs into the hallway.
Naruto’s back straightened immediately, hand clenched around the phone while Boruto froze in his spot while tying his shoes. You didn’t looked particularly threatening, in all honesty. When he first met you two years ago, Boruto received a warm smile and a handshake, your figure not menacing at all until he witnessed you scolding his father, Shikamaru and Sai, all at the same time. Shivers ran down his spine, a heavy aura surrounding you.
“I-I have to meet Sasuke.” Naruto said ending the call without another word.
“Mhm.” you nodded briefly before looking behind him with a raised eyebrow. “I surely do hope you are on your way to deliver to your mother the dress.”
“Y-yes!” Boruto jumped up straight.
“Off you go.” you said waving him off.
Swallowing hard, Boruto grabbed the beautifully wrapped up box and disappeared out the door not wanting to be his father right now. Turning your gaze back to Naruto, hand raised to brush off the Hokage cloak resting on his shoulders, your eyes met the baby blue ones that immediately caught on what you were telling them. Naruto took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
“What?!” Kurama’s voice filled the hallway as his eyes opened, bright red staring into your soul, slightly angry and threatening.
“Kurama.” you spoke calmly while raising an eyebrow at his attitude.
“Y/N!” Kurama jumped slightly through Naruto’s body as his eyes were taken over by calmness and a bit of fear.
“In 72 hours we are getting married as you probably know very well by now.” you said wiping any kind of expression off your face to accentuate the seriousness of the situation. “When him and Sasuke get together trouble tends to follow.”
“Agreed.” Kurama nodded listening closely.
“I want Naruto back without a single scratch on him and fully rested.” you followed. “By the time I show myself, the man better be showered, dressed and ready.”
“Yes, Y/N.” Kurama replied complying to every single request you had, the fox respecting you much more than anyone could ever know.
“See if you can drag that depressed boy back with you two as well.” you sighed tilting your head. “He promised me something some years ago.”
“Will do.” Kurama said with a short nod.
“Thank you.” you replied with a bright smile placing your palm on his cheek to which he also offered you a shy smile. “Can I talk to my future husband now, please?”
Kurama hummed and went back inside of Naruto as you got your man back, bright blue revealing itself yet again with a grin.
“Be safe, please.” you said wrapping your arms around him tightly.
“Don’t worry, my love.” Naruto replied placing a kiss on your forehead. “I’ll be here in 72 hours, Mrs. Uzumaki.”
“Sounds nice.” you said smiling brightly.
“Sounds perfect.” he said brushing his nose against yours.
Naruto's hand went up to cup your cheek, thumb softly caressing the skin as the bright blue of his mesmerizing eyes spilled into yours. Lips brushed carefully against each other as you were slowly pulled into a heart-melting kiss. A short cough interrupted you out of a sudden, gaze quickly shooting behind Naruto.
"Does no one know how to knock?" you asked stepping away, hands resting on your hips as your eyebrows raised in surprise.
"Sorry." Shikamaru chuckled. "The boys are waiting."
"The .." you suddenly stopped putting the pieces together. "Ah! So that is how this is going to go."
"I LOVE YOU!" Naruto jumped stealing quickly another kiss from you before darting out the door and pulling Shikamaru after him.
Laughing, you walked outside and leaned against the door to see Naruto surrounded by Shikamaru, Lee, Choji, Sai and Kiba. What you worried it was going to be some sort of last minute mission was, in fact, a bachelor trip to get Sasuke and also party. What caught your sharp eyes were a few blonde hair strands peeking from one of the trees. Stepping carefully into the front garden, you caught the attention of the men when bending to grab a rock and threw it straight at the target. When the hidden body destabilized, falling, you pulled out a kunai that perfectly aimed and nailed the small person to the three by their jacket.
"You have two options." you said raising an eyebrow while crossing your arms against the chest. "And none involve you going with your father."
"Don't call mom!" Boruto panicked immediately. "Option 2!"
"She's .." Kiba swallowed hard hiding behind Sai. " .. terrifying."
"Tell me about it." Naruto whispered as his eye twitched.
✧ ✧
"WE ARE HERE!" Ino's voice boomed downstairs and you jumped out of the bed and rushed to the stairs.
"WHY IS THE DOOR ALWAYS OPEN?" you yelled back for absolutely no reason but simply because she did it first.
"Why the hell are you not dressed?" Sakura asked raising an eyebrow.
"F-for what?" you asked confused trying to think if you forgot about something.
"Bachelorette trip!" Hanabi Huyga, the girl you always held dear since both young children, pushed in between Sakura and Ino with a wide smile.
"I should've known you were behind this." you laughed shaking your head. "Were are we going?"
"You'll see." Ino grinned. "Let's get you packed."
"And, yes, we know you have to be back in 72 hours." Sakura sighed seeing you were about to say something.
Rushing up the stairs, Hanabi pushed you away and darted into the bedroom before opening the closet. Ino grabbed a bag while Sakura went into the bathroom to pack up the make-up while you sat on the bed completely confused. A shirt and a pair of pants collided with your face with Hanabi grinning widely and you sighed. Please, let me be back in time!
✧ ✧
"This is entirely ours?" you asked in shock while walking into the Hot Springs.
"Yes." Hanabi chuckled. "The women's side anyway."
"The others are waiting!" Ino cheered grabbing your hand and pulling you after her at full speed.
Since they came to pick you up, you did not had a single second to take a deep breath and process what was happening. Hanabi, Sakura and Ino planned an entire Hot Springs bachelorette getaway because the men also did it. The competition was quite fierce as you could see from their excitement and desire to get you incredibly drunk for the night. As the four of you threw away the clothes, bodies wrapping into plushy bathrobes, the girls pushed you out the door to the springs and a loud gasp left your lungs. Ten Ten and Karui were already neck deep into the hot water, wide smiles gracing their faces as you made an appearance.
"You are unbelievable!" you chuckled shaking your head.
"Come on!" Karui cheered throwing her hands in the air and her breasts made a bouncy appearance out of the water.
"This is going to be great!" Ino said wrapping her arm around Sakura's neck and pulling them both into the water as the others laughed.
"Wait a minute .." Ten Ten said grabbing your ankle as the bathrobe fell of your body quickly. "What's that?"
"What's what?' you asked confused.
"THAT!" Karui and Ino pointed at your hip where a bright purple mark was staring right at them in all its glory.
"Hit my hip on the corner of the table." you shrugged as you kicked Ten Ten off and settled into the water.
"That's not .." Ino began to say.
"Shut up!" your voice joined it along Sakura, Ten Ten and Karui.
"Love bite." Hanabi laughed sweetly and you choked on your own saliva.
"I need a drink .." you sighed as they all laughed. "Multiple."
✧ ✧
Laughter filled the springs, glasses and bottles being clinked into the water as the night was settling in, you and your girls having the time of your lives. As per the usual rule, alcohol loosened up all the personalities present as you and Hanabi ended up hugging while drinking from each other's bottle. There were surely some photographs out there meant to be pulled out at the wedding.
"Do I hear girls laughing?" Kiba's voice was heard as if thunders broke the sky and all of you fell silent.
"The other side is literally for women, idiot." Shikamaru said, a punch being heard along with a splash into the water and you tried to muffle a laugh.
"Are you kidding me?" Hanabi asked with wide eyes. "This can't be happening."
"Oi, Sai! Where's my bottle of sake?" Naruto's voice boomed into the air.
"Oh, it's happening." you laughed not being able to hold it in and starting an entire laughing party with the girls.
"See, Kiba?" Lee asked amused. "Women."
"Naruto, good thing you brought the Hokage cloak." Kiba said as you could hear a tinge of a growl in his voice.
"Do tell." you said quietly as all of you gathered next to the wall separating the men side from the women's.
"Here's the food!" Choji cheered. "These two are mine."
"As expected." Karui nodded causing you to laugh again.
"Who would've thought that the SEVENTH HOKAGE will come here?" Kiba shouted Naruto's title for the women to hear.
"Are you really using my title to get women?" Naruto laughed. "Then you show up and what'll happen then?"
All the men started laughing along with all of you because the whole situation was absolutely amusing.
"Kiba, which one of the women scares you the most?" Sai asked calmly.
"Y/N." Kiba sighed deeply and a dark smirk took over your face.
"Think about that." Shikamaru laughed.
"Not even I would fight her." Lee sighed.
"Me neither." Sasuke's voice made an appereance.
All of you turned to Sakura that was blushing brightly, lips parted in surprise as she stared at the wall. The man hasn't been home in quite some time, your arm wrapping around her shoulders, a kiss planted or her burning cheek.
"It's not like Y/N can find out." Kiba rolled his eyes. "Naruto will be with her their entire lives. He can have a bit of fun."
"Is he trying ..?" you asked bewildered.
"Yeah." Ino sighed. "Sai said he tried this the last time as well."
"Well .." you grinned raising your index and middle finger in front of your lips so you could change your voice slightly. "Is the Seventh Hokage really there?"
"Y-yes." Naruto's strained voice could be heard as he replied to the question only to validate his presence.
"And would he present his friends to me?" you asked as the girls almost drowned trying not to laugh. "I also have a few friends over here."
Kiba kept holding his thumbs up while Naruto swallowed harder than ever with Choji shaking his head in complete disapproval. Naruto kept staring at the wall that separated them from the women’s side, knowing very well that it was not an innocent request that woman was having. However, what if it was and he was imagining things? You never got upset when women swarmed him because he was simply the Hokage, you trusted him and how much he loves you. And then .. why did he felt as if he was doing something wrong?
“Grow a pair, Naruto!” Kiba hissed while sitting on the edge of the spring as Sasuke kicked him in the back, landing into the water with a loud splash. “What was that for?!”
“You can go by yourself.” Sai suggested.
“But he is not the Hokage.” Choji chuckled while munching.
“I wonder why.” Shikamaru sighed.
“THE HOKAGE WILL BE PLEASED TO MEET YOU IN 5 MINUTES!” Kiba yelled out of complete nowhere.
Hell broke loose as Naruto sunk under the water until only his annoyed gaze could be seen, the boys jumping on Kiba while Sasuke kept his gaze on his best friend that seemed troubled. Not even along the course of his relationship with Hinata was Naruto so settled and correct when it came to certain morals. The simple thought of seeing a woman that wanted to meet the Hokage had his friend angry. Naruto was not afraid of Y/N in the true meaning of fear but only the idea of losing her for such a simple reason was beyond comprehension. Sasuke knew Y/N very well. She was not the woman to cause a scene for something so stupid as this, especially since she trusted Naruto so much. It was only Naruto wanting to never do wrong by her.
“Naruto ..” Sasuke said eyeing Kiba that was going inside to change. “What could go wrong?”
“I’ll let Kurama eat him.” Naruto growled at how uncomfortable he felt with this situation, aiding Kiba in securing a one night stand.
On the other side, the girls quickly got out of the spring and rushed inside to wrap their bodies in the designated bathrobes while laughing their heads off. Was quite visible that, except you and Sakura, the rest were a bit more drunk than needed. You two had a weird resistance to alcohol but were also slightly buzzed, just enough to make the day fun.
“You just stand here.” Kiba’s voice could be heard in the front desk area and you signaled the girls to stop.
“You can’t help it, can’t you?” Naruto sighed deeply.
“Man, what a drag!” Shikamaru groaned.
Looking at the girls, you were all listening from around the corner, Karui slapping her palms against Ino and Hanbi’s mouths to shut them up. Sakura was aggressively pointing at your legs and you frowned. Ten Ten chuckled and pulled your bathrobe slightly to the side to reveal one of the legs before pointing at the corner. You opened your mouth in surprise and a quiet laugh escaped you.
“Look!” Lee said surprised as your leg, from the half of your thigh and down, showed from behind the corner.
“Kiba ..” Naruto swallowed before a wide smile took over his face.
“See?” Kiba grinned.
“You’re dead.” Naruto laughed which caused all of you to laugh as well, him recognizing the birth mark on your ankle.
Pulling back your leg and tightening the robe around your body, all of you stepped from behind the wall and in front of them. The girls were laughing, your hands resting on the hips. Lee screamed when he saw all of you with Choji, Sai and Shikamaru laughing, Sasuke shaking his head slowly.
“Hello, boys.” you said again in the changed voice for them to see the culprit.
“W-what?” Kiba asked while gasping like a fish on dry land.
Without hesitation, Naruto rushed and pulled you up into his arms, spinning you both once, lips capturing yours in a deep kiss.
“Hey, baby.” you smiled into the kiss.
“Hey, love.” Naruto replied hugging you tightly.
As your feet touched the ground again, back against Naruto’s chest you watched the others interact, Sakura and Sasuke of an awkwardness you could not quite grasp, not the first time seeing it.
“What are you doing?” you asked seeing Kiba hiding behind Hanabi.
“Y/N, look ..” Kiba tried to say.
“Run.” you replied raising an eyebrow.
Everyone laughed as Kiba disappeared into the blink of an eye, running back into the spring where he clearly thought you wouldn’t follow.
“I like how he believes you wouldn’t go in there.” Hanabi laughed.
“Let him have that power for now.” you replied shaking your head.
“Can we return to drinking?” Ten Ten asked agitating the empty bottle she was holding, Lee's arm dangling around her shoulders.
“And eating!” Choji jumped excitedly.
“Let’s all meet up later!” Ino suggested with Sai nodding in approval.
“For dinner.” Karui said as a proposition.
“And drinks!” Hanabi followed as she high-fived Sakura.
“Meet me here after dinner.” Naruto whispered into your ear before placing a quick peck on your cheek with the others agreeing to the plans.
Nodding with a small blush, you let his hand ago as he walked back with the boys to their side while you returned with the girls.
- -
As everyone settled into their rooms, you simply felt the need to be alone before meeting up with your future husband. Slipping out of the bathrobe, you quietly went into the hot water, head resting against the stoned tiles as you watched the night sky, stars sprawled all over in their beautiful quietness. The door opened and you turned around to see Naruto in all his godly glory with a towel wrapped around his waist, muscles glistening into the lights, a loving smile adorning his lips as you could never get enough of the most gorgeous pair of blue eyes you have ever witnessed. Arms crossed under your chin on the edge of the spring, you simply stood there looking at him. Naruto let the towel fall without breaking the eye contact, walking slowly up to you before letting himself soak into the hot, relaxing water. His hand quickly found your cheek, you leaning into it with a sigh.
“Baby?” he asked watching you becoming completely vulnerable all of a sudden.
“I love you so much.” you breathed feeling a tight knot in your chest. "You're the best thing that has ever happened in my life."
"Hey!" Naruto smiled wiping off a couple of tears that escaped your eyes. "The love of my life is not allowed to cry in my arms."
"I'm sorry I left." you said wrapping your legs around his waist, hands cupping his face. "I am so, so sorry for what I did to us."
"Y/N .." Naruto whispered kissing the corners of your mouth. "You needed to breathe on your own after .. after what had happened. You didn't do anything to us, baby. It was simply life."
"Thank you." you sighed as his arms tightened their grip around your body. "For always being this understanding, exceptional, loving man."
"No, love." Naruto smiled brushing his nose against yours. "I am this man because of you entirely so .. thank YOU."
Lips collided instantly, softness gripped with hunger, love dancing its way along your tongues with feverish motions as your bodies squeezed out all the water in between. Naruto pulled you along with him until his back rested against the edge of the spring, your knees grazing slightly the stone and you hissed. His arms quickly unwrapped from around your body and went under the knees, the support provided keeping your skin protected, away from any potential bruises that might occur. Arms resting around his neck, foreheads resting against each other as you both pulled back to breathe after the heated kiss.
"I want you." Naruto's raspy voice sending shivers down your spine and electric shocks straight into your wet core. "So damn much."
"Can we .." you swallowed looking left and right. "Here?"
"You can do whatever you wish for, love." he smirked. "You're the future wife of the Seventh."
"How cocky!" you laughed shaking your head slowly.
"I am .." Naruto grinned as you felt the tip of his cock brushing your entrance under the water. " .. cocky."
And that he was. Catching him into a deep kiss, Naruto let himself push inside of your pussy slowly, the pressure of the water being pushed out having you tremble slightly as he made room for himself. Heartbeats picking up the pace, panting replacing the calmness you surrounded yourself with, Naruto groaned loudly into your mouth the moment his cock bottomed out. No matter how many times you two were doing this, he still managed to feel incredibly big every single time. The motions picked up in pace but only slightly, your back arching in pleasure at the tenderness and softness you were handled with. It was not as if you haven't made love with him by now because it happened quite a lot of times, all of that love you two had for each other consuming you completely. However, this time felt entirely different. Every water droplet rushing down your skin burned pleasurably, gliding along the hot steam that was coating your body with a sheer, silky embrace. Naruto's hands deeply embedded into the flesh of your plushy thighs, fingers digging into them with a passionate hunger that was met by the tensing of his strong muscles as he pulled you into him. One of your hands wandered up the back of his neck, fingers grasping the hair and scalp as the other pushed in between his shoulder-blades. Head falling backwards, a guttural moan rolled off your tongue, slow and balanced thrusts having his cock deeply absorbed by your pussy feeling as if tightening rather than stretching out around the throbbing length.
"I love you." you breathed into the air, eyes closed shut as every single feeling of the moment electrified you from head to toe.
"I love you more." Naruto moaned, teeth grazing the collarbone, a soft bite on it having you clench your pussy. "Fuck."
Water ripples revolved around both with Naruto's thrusts entertaining the calm waves that hit the sides of the spring. Quiet moans danced in the air, the steam intensifying with the heat of your intertwined bodies.
"Look at me." Naruto said nudging your chin with his nose, going deeper and deeper into you with each passing second and you surrendered your half-lidded eyes to him. "Forever."
"And more." you replied with parted lips in pleasure, crashing them against his.
Loving gazes melting into each other, muscles tightening with each grip, push and pull, your teeth latched on Naruto's lower lip, the sweetness of your orgasm coming quietly, waves of pleasure washing throughout your body as you let yourself go all over him, the man you loved for life and more unable to look away. Flushed skin against his, bright burning cheeks, a pair of eyes that could have even the moon and sun jealous, Naruto buried himself into you a few more times before he stilled as deeply as possible. He kissed your breasts softly, lips peppering hot and loving kisses upwards until they stumbled upon your puffy ones.
"I can't wait to marry you." Naruto said with a soft smile as his thumb caressed your lower lip.
"Me too." you smiled back feeling as if you could conquer the world right in this moment.
With Naruto by your side, you always felt that you could do everything and beyond.
✧✧
Through the open window of the room, a brush of fresh air swirled in and danced through carefully arranged hair strands, softly tickling the skin of your cheeks, calming the pale blush hugging them. Gaze embracing the village, an image of the past overlapped with the modern times you lived in, the simplicity of the place you once called home long gone. The laugh of a younger self vibrated into the room, seeing the young girl walking on the empty alleyway under the window you sat at. She was radiating with pure joy, yet to be touched by the adversity of life and what came with it, to be twisted by the sour taste of loss and pain. Pearly smile beamed into the sun, closely followed by the friends she loved the most. They were all so young, carefree and simple. A couple of tears gathered into your eyes as you indulged into the apparition the past made before you, wanting to call after her and warn the girl about what was to come but to also tell her a story. It was not one of those that had no hardships but one that would come full circle, tying up all the loose ends she was bound to leave behind. You wanted for the girl to never lose that contagious smile even if you knew that she will grow it again. To let her know that it will take 15 years for it to bloom fully.
"Hey." Ino spoke softly, fingers brushing a tear away.
"Hey." you whispered as your younger self vanished into thin air.
"We have to go." she replied intertwining her fingers with yours.
Ino guided you along a hallway that seemed infinite, a heavy wooden door residing at the end of it, one you had to pass through to meet the man you were about to spend the rest of your life with. Pressing your palm against Ino's cheek, you thanked her and turned to the door, swallowing harder than ever in your life. Doorknob caving under the pressure of your hand, you walked inside and was instantly met with the brightest pair of blue eyes that blessed your life. Holding back a gasp, Naruto's cheeks flushed bright red, lips parted as he watched you take slow steps towards him. His hand immediately caught yours when close, fearing that he will not be able to stand on his own. You have never imagined how good he could look in wedding attire, the black kimono and grey hakama conferring a certain maturity that could only come with age, on top of it, the also black haori falling loosely, settling perfectly on his broad shoulders, family crest on each side of it, staring right back at you. It was an image that made you feel as a little child in front of him, pure blush pinching your cheeks as you could not say a single word.
"Y-you're .." Naruto whispered, swallowing the knot in his throat as words threatened to fail him. ".. perfect."
"Only because of you." you replied cupping his cheek while the other hand squeezed his tightly.
"Thank you." he said with a melancholic smile.
"For?" you asked surprised.
"For allowing me to be yours." Naruto said as in between the two of you both the past and the present danced in harmony.
Before you could reply, the double doors of the grand room opened widely and Kakashi walked inside. He abruptly stopped, taking all of your presence in, the attire dressing you into a certain maturity that reminded him also of someone he once lost and loved. It dawned on him, right in that moment, that she lived through you.
"Kakashi Sensei?" Naruto asked noticing the emotions rushing into the man's eyes and he knew exactly what was happening in his mind. "Is everything alright?"
"I simply wanted to be the first to see the woman that chose me to be her father figure." Kakashi spoke softly, eyes melting into yours completely. "You are absolutely beautiful, Y/N."
"Thank you." you blushed again. "For everything."
"No." Kakashi smiled. "Thank you."
"What about me?" Naruto pouted. "Am I not beautiful?"
"I love you but .." you raised an eyebrow. ".. it's not Kakashi's first time seeing you getting married, isn't it?"
"Heh .. Well .." Naruto grinned slightly embarrassed. "It's the first time with you."
Kakashi laughed as you groaned, the entire maturity you credited Naruto with 5 minutes ago long gone. Holding hands, Kakashi left the room after congratulating you one last time and you both stared at each other with those simple, innocent, teenage like smiles you used to have when young.
"Ready to have me for the rest of your life?" you asked with a playful smile.
"Ready?" Naruto sighed wanting to kiss you right now but he knew he had to wait a bit longer. "I've waited for 15 years. Ready is an understatement."
"What are we waiting for then?" you replied pulling him by his arm as he laughed.
"God, I love you." Naruto shook his head as you both made your way towards the doors. "Y/N Uzumaki."
And just like that Naruto realized: you were no longer the one that got away.
✧✧
Breaking away from the one of the many kisses as husband and wife, wedding bands shining brightly into the sun, heartwarming smiles graced you both as you watched all the guests enjoying themselves after the ceremony ended. Through the girls fawning over you, Boruto headbutting once again with his father and Himawari running around you in excitement, your eyes searched. The smile you so carefully kept on was slowly peeling off, a certain person not catching your eyes as you hoped from start to finish. As Naruto was dragged away by the boys, a hand settled on your shoulder, squeezing lightly. Turning around, you were quickly engulfed into the intimidating, dark presence of Sasuke, features soft and tender as your eyes met his.
"You came .." you whispered relieved.
"I once made a promise, didn't I?" Sasuke asked as you both walked away from the crowd.
"It was more of a bet." you smirked. "But who counts?"
"Yet I was right once again." he replied turning to face you, stopping at the edge of the garden where no one could hear. "You always loved to be the stubborn one."
"Sasuke, you are the only one that truly knows why I left." you said shaking your head while avoiding his gaze. "Not a single soul knows we have traveled together for six years or the countless conversations we had, the bond we strengthened in that time. I had to be stubborn for my own sake and believe that I will never see this day. Otherwise, you would have been the one picking up the pieces of a completely shattered heart."
"I already picked up the pieces." Sasuke replied. "For six long years in which you healed and, somehow, managed to close a few of my own scars."
"Brokenhearted companions." you smiled meeting his gaze again.
"Not anymore." Sasuke said with the faint trace of a smile. "I promised that when this day comes I will be here to stand by you. You promised me that when this day comes that you will leave everything behind and live freely."
"One promise fulfilled." you said taking a deep breath.
"Y/N, she is not coming back." Sasuke tilted his head a bit. "You tormented yourself long enough with the death of your sister and what happened with Naruto that caused your leave. I think it's time."
"Huh?" you frowned.
"It's time to breathe." Sasuke replied placing his hand on your shoulder and squeezing lightly. "You are not alone anymore."
Eyebrows shot up in surprise, unwillingly your hand clutching the fabric on your chest, creases forming on the kimono and you swallowed the knot in your throat. He was right because you were indeed breathing freely again without the burden and guilt pressing on your shoulders as if the world fell apart. There was this deep peace nestling into your soul, heart humming knowing that you have finally made it.
"I was never alone." you whispered, tears gathering into your eyes. "I had you."
"And I you." Sasuke replied offering you that extremely rare yet beautiful smile.
"Both promises fulfilled." you smiled back placing your hand on top of his. "Thank you."
"You know I will have to leave, right?" Sasuke asked holding your gaze to emphasize that no matter what or where, he was here.
"I know." you nodded. "And it's alright."
"Thank you." he spoke so softly it took you by surprise as it has been years hearing this certain tone.
"Oi! Sasuke!" Shikamaru called with Naruto's arm around his shoulders. "Group photo!"
"You should've left earlier." you laughed pulling him by the arm.
"No." Sasuke replied following you quickly. "It's alright."
Handing him to Shikamaru, Naruto wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled you into a deep kiss with everyone cheering their heads off. The first day of many more to come as his wife. God, you really did made it!
"Everything alright, love?" Naruto asked brushing his nose against you.
"Yes." you replied as you both turned around to your friends, Sasuke's gaze catching yours quickly. "Absolutely perfect."
✧✧
"Oh, God, yes!" you moaned loudly, back arching against the sheets in a perfect curvature. "NARUTO!"
"Fuck!" Naruto joined in with his own moaning hearing your voice screaming out his name. "You're amazing, baby."
Leaving right after the wedding gave you and Naruto an entire week away from absolutely everything. Shikamaru was handling all the issues back in the village with an absolute perfection, calling Naruto only twice along the week. The entire room was an absolute and undeniable mess: clothes all over the place, trays for food scattered around, a chair knocked down, some papers ripped on the desk from when you were taken on it, sheets almost tore off the bed. You and Naruto did nothing else besides eating and fucking with a bit of sleeping in between to recharge. The bed, the floor, the desk, the shower, the balcony, the hallway, the chair, you name it and you have probably fucked in or on it. The simple fact that you were now Y/N Uzumaki, his wife, the woman he has dreamed of since he could remember, had Naruto in an electrifying trance and all he wanted was to consume you completely.
"Come 'ere." Naruto growled pulling you by your thighs and you squealed.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, he spun you around quickly and placed your body into his lap, back against his chest sweaty, hands grabbing from under your knees and spreading you wide open. Head falling on Naruto's shoulder, both turning to each other at the same time for a deep, pleasurable kiss as he pushed his cock into your incredibly wet pussy, going in with such ease it was astonishing. You were in absolute ecstasy being fucked in such way, Naruto adoring to see you unravel into the mirror he moved four days ago from the corner of the room and in front of the bed. Pussy stretching right before his very eyes, low growls rupturing from the back of his neck with every thrust of his merciless and delicious cock.
"My wife has the best pussy." Naruto whispered into your ear, eyes glued on the mirror where you could see his dangerous smirk and lust filled eyes.
You were simply drowning in arousal hearing those specific words mingled into such a dirty sentence, mouth agape as you watched yourself swallowing him whole, pussy sucking his cock in with fervor while wetness pooled out of you, trickling down his length and onto the floor. God, it was such a sight eyes rolled into the back of your head, moans rolling off your tongue.
"Want to see yourself cum on my cock, baby?" Naruto purred seductively.
"Yes, p-p-pleaseee .." you dragged out the words in a moan mixed into a choked out breath. "Please!!"
Naruto chuckled darkly as he let your leg go only for your hand to grab from under the knee. You weren't ready to part with the dirty scene unfolding into the mirror but the closeness of your release was closing in. His long fingers traveled along your belly before settling in between your already shaky legs. Rubbing the clit with the expertise of a highly trained Shinobi, he dared to pinch it twice harder than usual, your back arching and Naruto bit softly on your shoulder, a high-pitched moan snapping into the room. The force of your orgasm hit you with such force, you choked on your own saliva, muscles giving out completely, head falling on his shoulder with the entire body shaking from the never-ending pleasure. Nails digging into the skin under the knee, you hissed lightly as Naruto kept fucking his cock and your cum back into your oversensitive pussy. The sloppiness of his movements attracting the attention back into the mirror where you could see his mouth latched on your neck for what will be a hard bruise to cover, wanting to see your husband cumming into you with all he had and more. Under your intense gaze and flushed body, Naruto got a surge of power that sent his cock so deep you could feel it into your throat as he spilled himself completely inside. A moan and a groan later, you were both stealing quick and messy kisses from each other with Naturo's cum dripping out of your exhausted pussy.
"Are you ready for dinner?" he grinned picking you up.
"We are actually going .." you said surprised.
"Of course we are!" Naruto rolled his eyes as he settled you into the bath and turning on the water. "We have two days left."
"I can't believe you actually want to leave the room." you laughed with him sitting behind you, body in between his legs while resting against his chest.
"Look who's talking, Mrs. Fuck-me-until-I-can't-walk Uzumaki." he replied cupping your breasts, Naruto's way of relaxing when tired or needy. "And, yes, you said that."
"I remember!" you rolled your eyes, throwing your arms back around his neck while the water surrounded your bodies. "Quite clearly."
Naruto laughed placing a kiss on top of your head as you relaxed into him with a smile.
✧✧
"Remember when your clones turned on you?" you asked laughing as your glasses were refilled. "They had every right."
"What?" Naruto raised an eyebrow. "They tied me up."
"Because you had the talent of not listening to absolutely anything anyone was telling you." you shook your head while adjusting the strap of the dress that threatened to fall. "Your clones are awfully nice and deserved much more from you."
"Nice, huh?" Naruto grinned. "Especially when they .."
"Naruto!" you hissed pointing your chopstick at him. "Stop it. People can hear!"
"And?" Naruto laughed raising his tone slightly. "My wife enjoys being fu .."
"That's it!" you growled as you heel stabbed his foot, the shoes not providing much cover.
"Baby!" Naruto cried red in the face from the pain. "I was joking!"
The surge of annoyance and embarrassment sent a shockwave throughout your body and, for a few seconds, your vision went completely pitch black. Leaning into the chair, droplets of sweat formed into the hairline at an alarming speed.
"Love?" Naruto asked frowning slightly.
"I-I'm alright." you said through uneven breaths and nausea. "It's just .. Can we go to the room, please?"
Shivers ran down your spine, goosebumps filling up your skin and vomit pooled into your throat. The nausea was absolutely unbearable as you pushed yourself up, coughing up slightly in the process and Naruto immediately rushed to your side, arms wrapping around your body.
"Hey! Hey!" Naruto spoke rapidly as you lost balance. "Water."
"No, no." you shook your head as you took a step forward. "I will throw up."
"Tell me what is wrong." Naruto pleaded seeing the struggle you were putting up with to leave the restaurant.
"S-something is wrong .. really wrong" you tried to explain but the realization of the fact that you were about to lose consciousness hit you. "Sakura."
The woman you trusted the most with anything that was tied to Medicine, including your life. Vision blurry to the point you could not see Naruto anymore, blackness washing over your eyes, weakness shattering your body completely and a wave of hotness punched you out of reality completely. The last thing remembered clearly being a searing pain into your belly that spread into the stomach and in between you legs. Complete black out.
✧✧
Never in his entire life has Naruto felt more scared than while pulling you out of the restaurant and heading back for the village with a speed provided by Kurama himself. He could feel uneven heartbeats separated by a short stop from time to time, erratic breathing as if your entire body and mind were in turmoil. Tears ran loose on his way home, wanting to get it out of his system in order to be strong when he'll hand you over to Sakura. Every single second of the past week was thoroughly analyzed by him and Kurama, looking for a moment, a reason for why this happened. The problem was that there was absolutely nothing.
"SAKURA! Naruto yelled bursting through the doors of the hospital startling every single soul in the waiting area.
"She is in surgery, Lord Seventh." a nurse rushed immediately to his side.
"I need her, NOW!" Naruto spoke frantically. "Her pulse is extremely weak, please."
"Naruto?" Shizune asked before realizing who he was holding and ran along the hallway. "Y/N! What happened?"
"I-I don't know." Naruto swallowed. "She fainted."
"Come with me." Shizune said rushing into the Medical ward with Naruto and the nurses hot on her trail. "We take her into the Hokage Suite. Prepare all the necessary equipment for an emergency check-up, a full panel of blood tests and I need an echo."
One of the nurses pushed the double doors wide open and pulled the cover off the bed as Naruto settled you on it. You were sweating excessively and choking out your breaths while the another nurse cut the dress off your body. Shizune pulled her sleeves up and placed her palms on your chest, the usual green Chakra appearing to heal you.
"Lord Seventh, may I ask you to wait outside?" one of the nurses asked seeing how he was trembling from head to toe.
"I need to be with her." Naruto whispered, fingers tugging at his shirt where the heart was beating desperately. "Please."
"Her pulse stopped!" Shizune roared intertwining her palms on your chest and pushing constantly. "GET HIM OUT, NOW!"
He did not even had the strength or will to fight, Naruto simply standing there in shock, eyes wide open, staring at the woman he loved how she stopped living right before his eyes. Being pushed outside the room, doors closing, his knees trembled before giving out and aiming for the floor. As if fate made it always in time, Naruto was caught by none other than Kakashi, Shikamaru standing tall alongside him.
"Sit down." Kakashi said calmly, placing a shocked Naruto into a comfortable chair in front of the room from where Shizune's voice could be heard booming.
"I-I can't .." Naruto breathed, body trembling. " .. not without her."
"Naruto." Shikamaru thundered. "She is strong. Breathe!"
"She's dead." Naruto hissed holding back the tears he promised he won't let out.
"Not until Shizune comes out through that door." Kakashi sighed kneeled in front of him. "Until we hear it from her, Y/N is alive."
"If my wife dies, I won't be able to recover." Naruto said meeting his exceptionally calm gaze. "She keeps me alive. She is my everything, do you understand?"
"I do." Kakashi nodded. "More than you can imagine, if you remember."
"I-I'm sorry." Naruto sighed. "It's just .. we got a second chance after all these years. A chance I'd never thought would ever come and if she leaves me before I see her old and grumpy .."
"Y/N is one of the strongest women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and calling a friend." Shikamaru said leaning against the wall of the hallway. "Even Sasuke refuses to have a confrontation with her and it's not about power. Her will, her mind are absolutely astonishing for someone that went through everything we all did and probably even more."
"Shikamaru .." Naruto whispered with a shaky voice.
"That woman loves you so much it's incredible." Shikamaru laughed quietly. "She thinks and breaths YOU. If you think Y/N would simply die after you made her your wife, you're wrong. When THAT time comes, this woman will go out with a bang."
"That time is not now." Kakashi said with a soft smile.
"Thank you." Naruto said leaning into the chair. "So much."
"Naruto!" Sakura's voice filled the hallway as she ran towards the men. "I just heard. I'm so sorry I couldn't be there."
"Her heart stopped." Naruto said eyeing one of his best friends, begging her silently and with passion. "Please, Sakura .."
"We got this." Sakura replied squeezing his shoulder. "Don't worry for a second."
With that, Sakura went through the double doors into the room from where shouting was no longer heard, machines beeping faintly while everything seemed to have calmed down. Naruto felt as if he could breathe a little. You was alive.
Bright light peaked through you tired eyelids, reviving the color of your eyes with the emerald green of leaves shuffling into the warm wind. Open window gave the opportunity of various scents to bring your senses back to life, the familiar feeling of home engulfing you immediately. You were home. Eyes adjusting to the bright light and various colors, they moved around slightly until they fell on the asleep figure of your husband, sprawled into a comfy armchair, a bit of drool trickling down the corner of his mouth. A smile tugged at your lips seeing him there, knowing how worried he must have been. Judging by how well you felt, you could only give credit where credit was due and that was either Sakura or Shizune. They were the only ones absolutely capable of having you completely refreshed in no time. Pushing yourself up and throwing your legs over the edge of the bed, you bent forward slightly as your hand cupped Naruto's cheek.
"Baby?" you asked softly.
Naruto groaned and waved you off with the "5 minutes" request which had you laughing. That is when it hit him. It was undeniably your laugh, his favorite laugh and not some dream. His eyes shot wide open as he collided with your body.
"Oh God!" Naruto said relieved. "Oh my God!"
"I'm alright, baby." you chuckled into the tight hug. "Thank you for taking care of me."
"I thought I lost you." Naruto pulled back and you frowned in confusion seeing his panicked expression, tears flowing down his cheeks. "Don't ever do this to me again, my love."
Before you could ask a single question, he began showering you with enthusiastic kisses all over the face, neck, shoulders and back up to meet your lips in a long awaited, deep, loving one.
"Look who pulled through!" Kakashi chuckled pushing the double doors wide open and Naruto pulled back slightly, arms still around your waist.
"Kakashi!" you cheered turning around into your husband's arms and stretching yours out, fingers closing and opening to motion the need of a hug.
Kakashi complied and you hugged each other with Naruto still attached to you without even the slightest intention to pull away or move. He was relentless and yet his words lingered into your mind.
I thought I lost you.
"What did you mean that you thought you had lost me?" you asked out of nowhere and your keen eyes caught immediately on the way Kakashi's shoulders tensed with your husband pulling away from you as if you were burning before sitting on the bed next to you.
"You heart stopped for a minute and a half." Kakashi explained seeing Naruto could not. "Shizune brought you back and Sakura handled the rest."
"What?" you asked shocked, fingers intertwining with Naruto's and squeezing tighter than ever. "Why? How?"
"That is what I am going to explain." Sakura said walking into the room holding a clipboard. "Happy to see you well."
"Thank you, Sakura." you smiled. "You and Shizune are my guardian angels."
"As always." Sakura chuckled. "I need to speak to you and Naruto."
"Kakashi can stay." you said eyeing Kakashi. "He is family."
"Good." Sakura said sitting in a chair next to the bed while Kakashi sat next to her, Naruto pulling you into his arms as your fingers intertwined with his. "You have a history regarding heart palpitations that tend to be extreme when applying too much stress."
"Yes." you nodded. "It happened a few times since I was born. My sister had this condition as well. During the war was the peak of it."
"Back then your heart stopped four times." Sakura sighed remembering the fear you put her through. "It caused an unrepairable damage as you already know."
"She can't exhaust her strength and power anymore." Naruto nodded remembering how he was in the hospital with you after the war for check-ups. "But she didn't."
"I will ask something .. intimate .." you winced having Kakashi in the room as he just laughed. "We were away without interruptions and .."
"It's not that." Sakura chuckled. "Exhaustion probably contributed to it to be honest but .. there was something else .."
"What do you mean?" Kakashi asked frowning.
"Well .." Sakura grinned and blushed slightly. "You are pregnant, Y/N."
Pushing yourself slowly off Naruto, muscles tensed as you gripped the sheets underneath, head tilting slightly while staring at the woman that saved your life as if it was the first time seeing Sakura in your entire life. Naruto's tremble sent vibrations throughout the hospital bed, his hand finding yours and he squeezed, faintly feeling it, not quite capable of grasping the news.
"Y/N?" Kakashi whispered and you quickly switched your gaze to meet his, under the mask a smile adorning his lips.
"Is this true?" you asked breathless, hand quickly finding Kakashi's and he squeezed
"It is." Sakura smiled softly. "9 weeks."
Turning slowly, your eyes met Naruto's, tears streaming down your face seeing the happiness showering his presence. He was absolutely taken with you, with the news, with the baby, hands cupping your cheeks, thumbs wiping away as many tears as they could catch.
"We did it." you whispered feeling a newfound relief washing over you.
"We did." Naruto smiled, lips pressing lovingly against yours.
"We're having a baby." you said smiling widely, the reality slowly creeping in.
"We're .." Naruto stopped abruptly, eyes running all over your face at an incredible speed, pulling back slightly and a gasp left him. "WE ARE HAVING A BABY!"
He grabbed your shoulders and shook you lightly, chest heaving with parted lips while you laughed, letting Kakashi's hand go and wrapping your arms around your husband. Naruto let out a deep breath, pulling you closer into his body, soft kisses covering your cheeks. Head resting on his shoulder, a sudden fear overcame you while remembering something that was not supposed to overshadow this amazing moment. Kakashi immediately caught on your glossy eyes, mind wandering somewhere it was not supposed to.
"SAKURA!" Naruto jumped with an impossible grin. "I AM HAVING A BABY WITH Y/N!"
"Yes, Naruto." Sakura laughed along with Kakashi. "Congratulations!"
"KAKASHI SENSEI!" Naruto turned to the man.
"You and Y/N are having a baby." Kakashi chuckled. "Congratulations!"
"Prepare yourselves." you laughed as you settled into Naruto's lap on the bed, his arms tightly wrapped around you. "This will go on for another 7 months."
"I don't want to take away your happiness but .." Sakura said standing up to pace around. " .. we need to talk."
"What happened?" you clenched your jaw expecting some kind of bad news.
"Considering your medical history, you have to know that, during a pregnancy, the amount of blood in your body increases significantly. Your heart works harder to pump the extra blood throughout your body and to your baby. This extra work can result again in heart palpitations that for you might turn extreme depending on what you do." Sakura explained rubbing her chin.
"Knowing my husband .." you said raising an eyebrow. " .. I'm lucky if I will be allowed to walk to the bathroom."
"We'll discuss it." Naruto chuckled placing a quick kiss on the top of your head.
"That is what caused the situation today." Sakura said walking back in front of the bed. "Which means that I will have to monitor you as closely as possible."
"I'll make you a key for our house." Naruto said to which Kakashi nodded.
"Also, there is a risk involved with the pregnancy." Sakura spoke as slowly as possible.
"My blood type is negative and the baby's positive, right?" you swallowed hard, a particular memory snapping into your mind. "I can't believe this."
"You know about it?" Sakura asked shocked.
"I-I do .." you replied quietly pushing yourself more into Naruto's body as he tightened his grip around you, already well aware of the situation. "Naruto's is positive, therefore resulting in an incompatibility. A baby usually inherits the father's."
"She is prone to miscarriages." Naruto said brushing his cheek against yours in reassurance.
"It already happened." Kakashi deducted putting the pieces together by studying you the entire time since finding out. "Am I right?"
"Yes." you chocked on your own words.
"What?" Sakura asked completely taken back by the revelation. "When?"
"Before I left the village." you replied with sadness.
Kakashi and Sakura simply looked in between the two of you for about a minute before realizing that the same people having a baby now were the exact same ones that went through such heartbreaking moment fifteen years ago. They both watched as Naruto placed small, soft kisses on your cheek, neck and shoulders, whispering words into your ear, soothing the fear that was slowly washing away from your face as seconds passed by. It was such a beautiful, tender moment that had Sakura and Kakashi hold their breath, seeing how two hearts were simply beating as one.
"We have some explaining to do, right?" Naruto asked scratching the back of his neck with an embarrassed smile.
"You don't have to." Kakashi shook his head as he felt his chest tightening, the simple idea that he did not know gripping painfully at his heart.
"We want to." you smiled softly.
✧✧
"Naruto, she is sleeping." Sakura sighed into the phone.
"But she sounds in pain." Naruto replied with a frown.
"Are you saying that you have never heard your wife snore?" she asked trying not to laugh.
"No, I know how my wife snores, Sakura!" Naruto said annoyed while pointing at Boruto to wash his hands. "THAT is not snoring."
"Naruto, Y/N is 7 months pregnant." Sakura tried explaining calmly. "Another human being is growing inside of her, the baby moves and the weight is pressing on the organs which causes heavy snoring. They are both healthy and happy because I visit them twice a week."
"Are you sure?" Naruto asked pinching the bridge of his nose.
"STOP WASTING MY TIME!" Sakura finally snapped and slammed the phone down, ending the call abruptly.
"You called Sakura again?" you asked while slowly making your way down the stairs.
"What are you doing?" Naruto jumped and rushed to your side.
"I AM NOT MADE OF GLASS!" you barked but leaned into him as your back hurt more than usual. "I NEED TO WALK! I NEED TO BE A NORMAL HUMAN BEING, NARUTO!"
He did not reply. Naruto knew not to say a single thing when you were all snappy and furious because you were carrying a tiny human inside. He could only imagine what it was like for you, statements such as "I would rather fight Madara and Kaguya at the same time every single day" becoming a daily treat as it amused him, and scared him, terribly.
"Tea?" Boruto asked from the kitchen as you were settled on the couch.
"Yes, please." you replied sweetly with Naruto adjusting the pillows to give comfort to your back. "Thank you. Both."
A pleasured sigh left your body accompanied by a small smile and Naruto had the sudden realization that he fell even deeper in love with you than before. You were proudly carrying his baby through pain and discomfort, rarely showing vulnerability as you still kept doing things around the house, cook and clean, even if he begged you countless times not to. He knew exactly what you have been doing since you both found out about the pregnancy: you were drowning a crippling fear. The first miscarriage you had endured 15 years ago had such an impact along with knowing the dynamic between your system and the baby's, causing moments in which he would wake up in the middle of the night to find you crying. Naruto was extremely fearful of such thing happening again, remembering very well how everything came crashing down the first time. That is how he became obsessed with how much effort you were applying on yourself, overprotectiveness taking over the moment you walked out of the hospital 5 months ago. He tried not to change, at least when you were awake, as the man would lay in bed at night and simply watch you sleep peacefully, convincing himself that you were alright, that your heart will not stop again in his arms, that the baby is alright, that you two were happy and healthy.
"I'm sorry for yelling." you sighed as Boruto handed you the mug filled with tea before sitting next to you.
"Yell as much as you want, love." Naruto smiled placing a deep kiss on your forehead. "Unfortunately, I have to go. In case of anything, Boruto you know the plan, yes?"
"Yes." Boruto replied proudly, the boy eyeing your belly with a pale blush.
"Give me your hand." you said noticing his gaze, Boruto stretching our his arm as you took it and placed his palm on your belly. "The baby is moving."
"Oh .." Boruto gasped feeling it. "OH! OH!"
"We'll be fine, baby." you smiled. "I love you."
"I love you too." Naruto replied kissing you softly.
Walking away from the couch, Naruto turned to see Boruto absolutely overcome with joy as he felt the baby kicking, you laughing as beautifully and colorful as ever. Who would've thought that, when you walked back into his life, things would turn out this way? Naruto shook his head with a smile, leaving the room and throwing the Hokage cloak over his shoulders. It took him only 15 years to achieve a dream greater than being Hokage: you.
✧✧
"What are you doing?" Boruto asked raising an eyebrow and you winced, letting the doorknob go.
"I want to see." you replied smugly. "I'm the mother."
"You and dad agreed to stay away from the room until the others finish it." Boruto sighed.
"I shouldn't have entrusted the baby's sex to our friends." you growled eyeing the door.
"Y/N, you're a few days away." Boruto chuckled. "What are those compared to 9 months?"
"Why do you make so much sense?" you asked annoyed. "You're a child."
Boruto laughed as you both stared at the door. Five months ago, you and Naruto decided to not know the sex of the baby, entrusting the secret to your friends that somehow found a way to take over the empty room in your home and prepare it as a surprise. Now, you were a few days away from birth and wanted nothing more than to pull the baby out of you as it became unbearable. Naruto was more on the edge than ever, suffocating you with care, which you adored but at the same time wanted to cut his head off, fulfilling any of your outlandish pregnancy wishes. Indeed, you couldn't have asked for a more perfect husband than him and, yet, you wanted for all of this to be over and have your body back.
"If it's a boy, you are not allowed near him." you said as Boruto helped you down the stairs.
"Why?" the boy asked shocked.
"You're stupid and stubborn." you simply replied with a smirk.
"YOU are stupid and stubborn." he scoffed.
The moment your feet touched the end of the stairs, a deep pressure engulfed your body and an instant wet discharge popped from in between your legs. Wetness trickling down your legs, panties completely soaked, you made eye contact with Boruto that had no idea if he should feel disgusted, no matter how many time either you or Hinata had this conversation with him since he found himself in your presence more than the rest, or start hyperventilating.
"Hima!" you called out calmly. "Can you come here, please?"
"Yes!" Himawari replied, feet slapping against the wooden floor as she walked into the hallway, wide eyes darting quickly at your legs that glistened from under the dress. "W-what is that?"
"Can you please call your father's office?" you asked with a smile not wanting to scare her or Boruto in any way. "No matter who answers the phone, tell them to meet me at the hospital because it's time."
"It's coming?" Boruto asked swallowing hard.
"Yes and you are the only man around." you said staring right into the pit of his soul. "I am alright but I need you with me."
"I'll get the bag." Boruto pulled himself back to reality as he was entrusted with this moment months ago in case there was no one else at home.
When Himawari finished the call, you both walked to the door as she helped you with your shoes. Bending or crouching at the moment felt as if you were going to give birth right there and then, choosing to let the kids help you as best as they could. Boruto returned with your hospital bag, knowing everything was in there as he heard you checking it last night three times.
"Hima, I need you to stay here." you instructed. "Call the hospital and tell them I am on my way and then call your mother."
"Take care, please." Himawari said hugging you softly and placing a quick kiss on your belly, contractions building up slowly.
"Ready?" Boruto asked intertwining your fingers with his.
"Ready." you replied trying to not panic over the fact that soon you were going to push a baby out of you, the child you and Naruto made.
Praising your husband for picking a house close to the hospital, you and Boruto walked slowly towards it. The boy was watching your every single move, every gesture, every wince or tensed muscle and he had no idea how proud you were of him. As time passed, you managed to develop a bond with Boruto that no one could believe it had happened. He chose to mature a bit faster than normal to be capable of taking care of you in a moment such as this one, knowing that he might be the one alone at home with you. Boruto owed you more than you could ever think, restoring the relationship between him and his father with a grace and patience no one had before.
"Mrs. Uzumaki!" a nurse jumped from behind the desk as Boruto held the door open for you.
"Did my sister called?" Boruto asked placing his small hand on your lower back for comfort which you appreciated deeply.
"Yes." the nurse replied wrapping her arm around your waist. "Right this way. How are you feeling?"
"I want to pull the baby out with my bare hands." you hissed feeling a sharp pain in your belly.
"Understandable." the nurse said eyeing Boruto as they both smiled.
"Are you aware of my situation?" you asked squeezing the boy's arm a bit too tightly and he clenched his jaw. "Sorry."
"I can handle it." he replied, admiration falling upon him as he watched you handling a pain he was not capable of understanding.
"Yes, I am aware." the nurse replied taking you through a separate corridor. "I was specially assigned to you."
"Y/N! Boruto!" Sakura called coming out from the room that already had your name written next to the double doors.
"I need to say something to you." you said stopping in front of the room. "Listen to me carefully, Haruno. If something goes wrong during birth, I need you to promise me that the baby comes first."
"Y/N .." Sakura's tone turned into a threatening one. "Nothing will go wrong. In case of anything, you both come first."
"Sakura, listen to me!" you growled. "After everything that has happened, the baby comes FIRST."
"He will kill me." Sakura replied shaking her head.
"SAKURA, DAMN IT!" you snapped and a gasp left you as the contractions kept growing. "Promise me! NOW!"
In between the contractions and your panting, silence fell upon your best friend, pleading green eyes melting into yours. Boruto's hand trembled slightly into yours and you squeezed it. Sakura pondered various outcomes but did not had enough time as your knees started caving under you.
"I promise." Sakura sighed and you smiled relieved. "Take Y/N inside and make her comfortable, please. We need to perform the first exam and see the situation."
"I'll see you in a bit, kid." you grinned ruffling his hair before being taken inside your private room.
"Boruto, I need you to run." Sakura spoke calmly. "Himawari could not reach anyone because there is a very important meeting being held as we speak. He needs to be here or she will lose it. Y/N might not show it but she needs your father."
"On it." Boruto nodded straightening his back. "In case of anything .."
"Both are my priority." Sakura smiled. "Run."
With Boruto handing her your bag, he darted along the hallway and out of the hospital. Turning to enter the room, another presence made itself known and Sakura smiled.
"I had a feeling." Sakura said opening the doors.
"We cannot leave anything to chance, Sakura." Tsunade replied with a small smile following her inside. "This is the most important day of their lives."
"PULL IT OUT OR I WILL!" was the last thing heard as the doors closed behind the two.
2 years later
“Y/N!” Shikamaru said walking into the kitchen where you were with some of the girls. “Glasses?”
“Top shelf.” you replied. “Is Naruto still alive?”
“What can I say is that you’ll probably have a very interesting night.” Shikamaru smirked as you knew quite well how rapidly the sake bottles were disappearing.
“Oh, shut up.” you blushed letting a chuckle escape you.
“BORUTO!” Sarada yelled annoyed.
“What now?” Hinata sighed standing up from the couch and leaving the room along with Shikamaru.
“I heard Sasuke is coming next week.” you said carrying two wine bottles to the table.
“Oh, yes.” Sakura nodded. “Every two weeks he comes home to train Sarada.”
“That’s an improvement.” Ino said clapping lazily.
“Don’t be nasty.” you shook your head. “We should head out back as well.”
“I’ll help with the desert.” Sakura said rushing to the kitchen. “Ino, can you take some small plates?"
"I'll be out in a second as well." you replied turning on the faucet to wash the last remaining dishes.
As the girls left, Naruto walked inside slightly reddish in the face from the alcohol and he leaned against the fridge watching you. Hair tied in a loose ponytail, strands framing your face beautifully, a small smile gracing those lips he could never get enough of. He loved how at peace you could be on your own, always humming one of your favorite songs while swaying your hips slowly, enjoying every note that danced into the silence. Every single time Naruto looked at you it felt as if it was that faithful day in which you walked into his office, heart almost caving under the powerful heartbeats booming into his ears, soul in perfect harmony, humming in adoration at the sight of you. Years have passed since he made you his completely, since the baby was born and since Naruto finally accepted being at peace. Walking up to you, arms sneaked around you waist as he pressed his lips against your neck.
"Hey, baby." Naruto whispered resting his cheek against yours.
"Hello, love." you replied turning slightly to kiss him. "Is everyone alright?"
"Yes, they're having fun." he answered pulling you into him even more than possible as if you were to run away. "Boruto threw cake at Shikadai and Sarada, they threw it back, got Inojin instead and Chocho ate what was left while Himawari laughs at them."
"Because that is why I made the cake." you laughed and he followed.
"Come on." Naruto said turning off the faucet and spinning your around. "I want my wife with me."
"Auntie Y/N!" Sarada screamed her lungs off as an entire commotion started in which you could hear Hinata and Sakura going off while the others laughed.
Naruto shot you a surprised look to which you frowned, both having no idea what could have happened. Pulling him by the arm after you and into the garden outside, your face dropped. Sakura and Sarada were fuming, the latter having her fingers wrapped into Boruto's golden locks, Himawari somehow ended up activating her Byakugan while Hinata held her back, Inojin and Shikadai's eyes were twitching violently with Chocho casually eating from all the deserts sprawled outside.
"Shit." Shikamaru laughed seeing your expressionless face, sign for everyone to stay back.
"Boruto?" you asked as calmly as possible. "Why are you holding little Kushina upside down?"
In all honesty? The scene was too funny to pass it by, the baby's laugh absolutely intoxicating as Boruto had his hands tightly on her waist, head dangling slightly above the ground. Naruto muffled a laugh the moment you shot him a glare that had his soul shiver. You were always the fun, warm aunt but all the children knew to stir clear when you had absolutely no display of emotions on your face. Sarada's evil laugh filled the air as she was the one calling you to get Boruto into trouble, Ino and Hinata gathering the others a few steps away from the scene.
"We tried to stop him." Shikadai muttered knowing he could also get in real trouble because of his friend.
"She likes it, see?" Boruto asked innocently as your little girl kept laughing.
"Why do you have to be such an idiot?" Inojin asked shaking his head.
"Probably from all the blood pooling into her brain as we speak." you replied flatly.
"W-what?" Boruto asked shocked.
"Put. the. baby .." you replied, a low growl escaping. ".. down."
The fire in your eyes was no joke, Boruto quickly turning Kushina in a normal position, her tiny feet touching the ground. Without a second thought, too fast for him to counter it, your fingers wrapped around the boy's ankle and he suddenly found himself in the air, upside down. Every single parent and child started laughing as the boy did not dare to move or protest. The last thing he needed was be thrown on the roof of the house. You were freakishly strong and fast.
"Mommy!" Kushina smiled widely throwing her arms in the air. "Daddy!"
"Yes, baby?" Naruto chuckled kneeling next to his little girl.
"Again!" she cheered. "Again!"
Even you couldn't hold it much longer, a laugh rolling off your lips and you dropped Boruto on the ground without a single care in the world as Hinata grabbed him by the collar, dragging him away from you and you could see the life draining out of his cheeks.
"That's Naruto's kid without a doubt." Sai commented amused making everyone laugh and you kneeled in front of Kushina as well, knees bumping against Naruto's as she was surrounded by the both of you.
"She's alright." Naruto said kissing the little one's forehead and each cheek which she always loved, an innocent giggle putting a smile on your face. "Ain't that right, baby?"
"Yes!" Kushina replied with excitement, tiny body colliding with her father's and Naruto's arms wrapped around her quickly.
Himawari came from behind, jumping on your back as she reached to ruffle Kushina's hair before wrapping her arms around you. As your husband talked with his girls, you turned to look around, almost all of your friends, some away or unable to escape their jobs, and their children gathered into the garden for Kushina's second birthday. There were these specific moments happening in your life where you could see their younger selves appearing right next to each of them, the past waving at you from time to time. Seeing all of you grown up, married and with families was something you wouldn't have believed in a million years when you met in the Academy. All so chaotic, so clueless, a bunch of idiots wanting to run around with kunai thinking you could conquer the world.
"Uhm .. Kushina?" Boruto coughed slightly and you turned to your child once again.
"Again?" Kushina asked as her eyes beamed with excitement.
"No, definitely not." he replied seeing both you and Naruto eyeing him amused.
Seeing his sister pouting, Boruto launched forward, hands cupping her face as he proceeded to soothe her with multiple kisses all over. He picked her up, tightly holding Kushina in his arms while making her laugh, one arm reaching to grab Himawari off your back. As they wandered away to Hinata, Naruto held out his hand to help you up before pulling you into his arms.
"I could never be more grateful to you." Naruto said as you watched your family and friends having the time of their lives.
"How so?" you asked pulling back slightly.
"You gave me a beautiful baby girl." he smiled softly. "And named her after my mother."
"Naruto .." you whispered. "I should be grateful to you."
"You were like coming up for fresh air." he simply shook his head slowly with deep melancholy on his face. "I was drowning and you saved me."
When words failed you, arms wrapped around Naruto's neck as you pulled him into a deep kiss that had your friends whistling and cheering with the kids almost throwing up. Through it, you thanked him deeply, love pouring out as he tightened his arms around your waist.
"Daddy!" Kushina called and you both pulled back panting slightly.
"Go." you smiled letting him go. "I love you."
"I love you more." Naruto smiled back running his thumb along your lower lip.
Watching your husband running towards Kushina that was in Sakura's arms, he picked her up, spinning around and pulling loud giggles out of such a tiny body. You stayed back, taking in every single second that was passing way too quickly, Naruto's lips colliding with Kushina's blushing cheeks, his boisterous laugh intoxicating everyone else. You and Hinata looked at each other, nodding briefly with smiles curving your lips, a silent conversation taking place between two women that loved the same man. There were no words left in between the two of you, only deep care and trust.
"Mommy!" Kushina called laughing as Naruto was throwing her in the air playfully, something she absolutely loved, asking him every single day to do it.
Walking up to them, Naruto placed her in front of you so you could kiss her plump cheeks. One of his arms wrapped around you while in the other Kushina was resting peacefully. You could see she was a bit tired from all the fun, head on her father's shoulder as he leaned his cheek against her forehead lovingly. With all of the kids slowly settling down, they gathered around the adults as you were all exchanging memories of the past, the younger ones laughing and enjoying every bit of it. Your eyes caught a glimpse of someone standing at the entrance of the garden and you tightened your grip around Naruto's waist.
Your younger self was staring right back at you, a bright, pearly smile beaming into the garden's lights. Eyes wandered from one person to the other, taking in the entire scene unraveling before her innocent eyes and your heart skipped a beat. The last time you saw your younger self was the day of the wedding when you wished you could tell her a story and how everything comes full circle. A giggle escaped her as Kushina pinched your nose and Naruto quickly went in with a peck to soothe it.
That is when you realized. There was no need to wish to tell your younger self the story as right before her very eyes, and yours, life came full circle. This was the moment she chased her entire life, the feelings she wished one day to feel.
Peace washed over your as you watched the little girl laughing with an intoxicating happiness before vanishing into thin air forever. That is how you knew that she will never come back.
This was your story now. The rest were just chapters.
And .. he was no longer the one that got away.

Regrets of Tomorrow
Part 1 - Welcome back
Kakashi Hatake x Reader
Masterlist
Tumblr media
4 years were a long time. 4 years away from the shinobi world, the village, and the people you knew and cared for. When you had gotten the invitation to Naruto's wedding.. You couldn't just say no. The little prankster of a kid were going to get married, and you were going to make sure you were there to witness it and support it all the way.  "we there yet?" The tired voice were muffled into your shoulder as you smiled a bit. "very soon, Keitaro" no wonder the 3 year old were tired, the long walk from the land of earth was alot even for a adult. With soft hums you conntinued to walk, noticing the high walls of the village coming into view.
---
People running around in the hallway had been something Kakashi had gotten used to see the past few days.. What he were not used to see was the former Hokage Tsunade running around with a pile of books. "Would you like some help, Lady Tsunade sama?"  He spoke up seeing the blondine struggle balancing the pile in her hands. "No, I am fine. Just had to find some of the old books, hope you don't mind" Kakashi's hands raised a bit as he shaked his head. In no world did he dare to say no to her.
"offcourse not, what are you studying?" His eyes looked over at her, getting a few glimses of the tiltes from the back of the books. "Are those the senju history books?" Those were from the resticted eria of the hokage libary, not even him had looked at them. "And so? I am a senju am I not, and theese were made to be shared between the family." She stopped as her head tilted to the side, letting some of her face be shown behind the piles. "I... Guess... But I thought you had read them?" The scowl started to show on her face as she watched him carefully. She didn't hate Kakashi, no.. But some bitterness was there after everything.
"Lady Tsunade sama! I found the plushie you asked for!" The books fell out of her arms as she had hurried too Shizune's side to stop her from talking. "Not now, Shizune! Help me with the books now" The sudden sneer made Shizune alarmed as her hand fell to the side with the plushie. Her eyes widen a bit as she noticed the reasion for the sudden reaction from her former master. "oh, lord sixth. Hello" With a akward smile she waved at the man. "I have a feeling you two are up to something.. And I have no time to deal with it.."  Kakashi had enough on his plate allready, figuring this whole wedding out, the last thing he needed now was the hokage before him to start anything. "Good, now go back to the wedding planning. I will take theese" Tsunade picked up some books and placed them in Shizunes hands before taking the rest for herself.
Kakashi was not gonna ask.. Not even how curious he was, it would not be worth it. At least Tsunade seemed  to be in a better mood. He pinched the brigde of his nose as he sighed, before shaking his head and walked back to the office. He would not deal with this.. The old him would, but now he had more responsibilities.. But a clone wouldn't hurt? He thought a bit before shaking the idea off. No, if the shannin found out he was prying, she would sure take the oppertunity to smack him all the way to the land of wind. His work was almost done anyway, after Tsunade had helped him realise he didn't have to pick between who could attend or not.. Soo a little fun and undercover mission for himself would not hurt.
-------
It felt almost unreal too walk throught the gates of the leaf village again. Everything looked soo different than before, bigger and almost modern compared to the village you left 4 years ago. Keitaro were softly snoring against your shoulder.. Leaving a small stain of drooling. You smiled softly as you watched how peaceful he looked, as you removed some strains of hair from his face and pulled the hood a bit more to cover him. You wanted to skip unwanted questions for now, at least if you met anyone you knew..with the expetion of your mother offcourse.
The rumours had spread of how open the hidden villages had became after the war, but seeing it first hand were something else. Soo many new faces, families and even old people in the village you had never seen before, a sign of peace indeed. The bars had shinobi from all of the five villagers drinking togheter, and even laugh togheter. It seemed like the shinobi world were really changing after all, a war that united all villages and their lands.
"You are here, you are finally here!" The exited voice of your mother almost echoed throught the street. It even startled Keitaro awake, as he whined and rubbed his eyes. Your mother were quick on her feets as she engulfed you into a hug, almost crushing the child between you. " mom, he just woke up.." You tried to explain as she had allready grabbed the child out of your arms, giving him yet another hug. "I am just happy to see my Daughter and grandchild unharmed and home." She smiled and kissed keitaro's cheek. "baa baa!" Now wide awake Keitaro grinned and wrapped his small arms around your mothers neck.
"Lady Tsunade!" You furrowed your brows as you noticed Shizune came running thowards you three. "Mom, really? You couldn't give her a break for once?" She shoot you a glare, before smiling and giving a small wave thowards Shizune. "Is everything ready?" without letting the poor woman catch her breath she started walking. "This is kidnapping.." you muttered as you looked at shizune. "Well, you know how she is" The nervous smile on Shizunes face made you chuckle. "we should follow..." You sighed and started to walk after them.
It was almost uncomfortable how some villagers turned to look at you. Some faces you reconized, and some new, trying to understand why the fith hokage walked around with a child. You could only imagine how the rumours were gonna spread.. Soo much for holding a low profile. "Here it is! Your new home" She stopped outside a appartment complex, one of the more family friendly ones. "mom, did you?"
"I don't loose all the time, and this is a good place, even a small eria outside that is fenced" She shrugged and walked inside, as Shizune pushed you inside. It looked soo much better than any other places you had lived on during the journey.. A place you could imagine Keitaro growing up safely. "mom, look!" He almsot climbed up on Tsunades shoulder as he pointed at a cat on the fence. He had always had a love for animals, but dogs were his favourite. "it's a beautiful cat isn't it?" You smiled as the big round eyes on your sons face were sparkling.
Shizune unlocked the door for you all, letting you walk in first. Sandals were taken off in the hallway as you carefully stepped inside and looked around in awe." you like it? " Tsunade smiled as she put keitaro down to let him explore on his own. "this.. I have no words.." The appartment were fully furnished, even with pictures.. Pictures from your childhood, and even a few Tsunade had taken when she had been visiting you and Keitaro. "Thank you.." The emotions were overwhelming as tears started to form in the corner of your eyes. "Well, I couldn't done it without Shizunes help..." She admitted as Shizune had a prideful smile on her face.
"mom! Mom! Come!" The small feets were tripping in the hallway, eager to show you what he had found. "What do you wanna show me?" it warmed your heart seeing him this happy and exited. He grabbed your hand and pulled you along into one if the rooms. His bedroom.. "see mom!" He grabbed the toy kunai and smiled happily. "Ninjatooowls!" He cheered, having a love for the ninja and everything they could do. "You got your on kunai, honey?" He nodded dramatically, making the hood fall off his head, reviling the messy silver heair underneath. "kupai!" He grinned as he conntinued to explore.
Some words were still a struggle for him, but in all honesty it just added to the cuteness. "seems like you gave him a fitting name, Y/N" Tsunade leaned against the doorframe as she looked at the boy. "a true gift and a blessing" You smiled thinking of the meaning of his name. It fitted him perfectly. This was a perfect home, and a new start.. For both of you.
-------------
Kakashi had been to slow... Even though he was quick in changing attire he had lost the track of the shannin and his assisant. He had hoped for some exitment for once, something that was not paperwork or hokage related.. And seeing the secretness of the shannin had sparked a intrest in him.  It was easy to blend in with everyone when no one knew how he looked like, then he didn't have to hear lord this hokage that as he walked down the streets of the village.
It didn't take long until he heard Shizune yelling at Tsunade not far from where he was, making him quickly and smoothly change direction to where the sounds were coming from. By how the villagers acted, this secret of theirs would be something special.. They all seemed to have their heads turned thowards the direction Tsunade had gone, aswell as some small whisperes here and there. "was that a kid she was carrying?" He perked at the small whisper from another man. "who are those walking with Lady fith?" Another one asked. "Soo she is back, and brought a kid.. Shocker eh? Who would have thought?" he heard one of the shinobis say to his comrade...
This only made this small spying mission more intruging.  He could see shizune enter one of the new complexes in the village, the one who had been done just a month ago. Kakashi narrowed his brows a bit, wondering what Tsunade and Shizune would do in the newly buildt erias for the new villagers moving in.. His thoughts were spinning for a few moments as he tried to understand what was going on, and what they were planning. If this was Tsunade's gift to naruto she should know it was crazy... Carefully he started to walk down the street, carefully looking at the window as casual as he could.
What he saw made him stop as he noticed the familliar person inside the room. A person he hadn't seen since before the war... It gave him an uneasy feeling thinking about you being back in the village, at least after how it was when you left. He noticed you didn't seem to look at anything in the room, as his eyes followed your gaze, noticing the little figure in front of you. He could see some tiny hands holding something as they didn't stretch further up than your stomach from where he stood. As the hood fell off the tiny figure he could feel his blood freezing up.
He hoped his eyes were tricking him, like they had done before.. But as the small face came into view he knew it was real. His heart were pounding at this point, almost dizzy from it all. Now the whispers made sence, aswell as the odd behaviour and books.. Oh, how he wish he had listened to his better part and not followed at all.

Emotion (Kakashi x Reader)
A/N: Kakashi again...can't get enough of this mans tbh. U r an empath due to your kekkei genkai and Kakashi has always been difficult to read. Friend to lovers. Sharing one bed folks, we got some steamyyy shit here. Angst warning as well.
Word count: 6000
He was always alone. Ever since his childhood, he walked the world completely alone with only a few people there to support him. No mother, no father, no mentor, no teammates. He was at the mercy of fate his entire life, things being stolen from him time and time again.
He just prayed that he could keep her. Y/N L/N, the only woman to have wormed her way into his heart and made a home there.
When they first met, Kakashi and Y/N, she cursed him for being such a weirdo. Apparently his mind was empty and his heart was seemingly full of sand. He was conditioned that way, and that is how he lived for the longest time. It wasn't a surprise for him to hear that.
But she thought it was stranger than anything she'd ever seen, and so she followed him. She would figure him out, bring him back down to Earth from his supposed high horse. That woman was determined, and frankly he didn't mind her being around. She was quiet enough that it didn't matter. Not to mention on the missions they had together, she was quite the partner.
Over time, she'd learned to read him like a book. It was part of her clan's kekkei genkai. The ultimate empath, I suppose. The ability to read a persons every single emotion and then turn that, if they so choose, into power.
She was never the greatest fighter, but her negotiation skills were the best they could possibly be. She would dive into the emotions of another and manipulate them backwards and forwards to get what she wanted.
It was overwhelming, walking into a room of people and immediately being bombarded with so many feelings coming at her all at once. Occasionally, if the situation was bad enough she'd have to take a seat and clear her mind, organizing each person in her mind like a filing cabinet of empathy.
But damn, did she try to weasel out every bit of feeling she could. It was just something that came so naturally, she couldn’t help but instigate whatever was brewing up inside him.
"Kakashi, if you're happy, you know you're allowed to express it. You don't have to hide it away," she told him, staring at the masked man sitting across from her at the table. He was watching as she sharpened her kunai, and she could feel the content running off his body in small bursts. He was feeling better. Better than he had in a little while. Of course she picked up on it.
He sighed, rolling his eyes. She was always reading him, he knew that. He just preferred when she refrained from mentioning it. It did, most times, feel like a bit of an invasion of privacy, how she could deep dive into the corners of his mind. There were things no one else could ever possibly know that she did. It was strange, but he was used to it.
"What? Want me to smile or something?"
"No, but you should let yourself go. Just drop the facade."
"Stop doing that. Getting into my head."
Quietly, she set down her blade and picked up the next one, taking a cloth and softly wiping away any dirt. Her eyes slide up to his for a moment, her all knowing gaze filling his vision. "It's basically impossible. Especially if you're the only one around. There's nothing else to focus on except you." He knew that. It wasn't like she had an on or off switch. That was the downside of this dojutsu. Unlike sharingan and byakugan users, hers was always pulling the strings of her brain.
"You've got that mission next week. With Naruto and a few of the other kids, right?"
"Yes."
"It's A rank, isn't it?"
She hummed in agreement. He had a habit of knowing about all her missions, more importantly being the dangerous ones. He wasn't necessarily scared for her, probably not. He was more cautious than anything. There was this nagging feeling in his head that he shouldn't let her go on these missions alone. That it was too dangerous for her to handle.
But he was wrong. She was stronger than he thought, and could hold her own in battle. He was just a worrier. He'd just lost too many, seen too many bodies in front of his eyes to trust. God, he wanted to trust her, but he couldn't. She was too vulnerable. His friend, one of the only ones who hadn't died yet. For all he knew, her days numbered, that's how paranoid he was about everything.
"You'll be careful?"
"That's a silly question." He gave her a look that said he was more serious than anything, and she sighed. "Of course I'll be careful. I have people that would miss me if I wasn't." He was one of them. She could sense his fear whenever she said goodbye and his relief when she returned. He really tried to remain objective, but his heart said otherwise.
And she would be a liar to say that she did not experience the same relief seeing him come home from missions, even if he was beaten and bruised to the bone, she was just happy he made it back. So many never got to come home. It was a sick world, they lived in, but she could relish in the little comforts.
"Don't worry about me. I'll always turn out fine. It's you and your dumb students we have to worry about."
"I hear you. Those kids are enough to drive a person mad." He rested his chin in his palm, the mere thought of those kids causing his blood pressure to rise.
"Thankfully my students never gave me any trouble. Sweet little things."
"Well, aren't you just lucky, Y/N?"
"What can I say? Kurenai and I got the luck of the draw with our students. You men had it rough, I have to admit," she laughed. It was funny that he was so unfortunate to have gotten assigned the Uchiha and the Uzumaki, two completely opposite but persistent forces. "Despite your perverted tendencies and your perpetual lateness, you still did a great job teaching them."
"Thanks. But do you really have to call me a pervert? I'm really not."
"Yeah? That explains why you read porn in public. Admit you're a pervert, you dumb old man."
"We're the same age-" he began to argue, but she just cut him off with her harsh words.
"Creep," she muttered, running the sharpening stone along her blade. He narrowed his eyes. She was being awfully annoying, and he knew she could sense his irritation building up. Yet she continued just to be a pain in the ass.
He warned, "Hey. Watch it, L/N."
"Okay, okay, I'll stop...Pervert." She ducked her head when his hand reached out to wring her around the neck for being so frustrating, and she continued to laugh. It was nice, having a friend she could joke with and be around without having to worry about what she said. He might pretend to be mad, but she could feel the happiness still rolling off his body thickly under all that fake neutrality.
He was happier than he'd been in a long while, and she found herself swelling with pride knowing that she might have helped make that happen. Her lips curled into the gentlest of smiles as she peered back up at him, and he found himself smiling back even if it was just through the mask.
He swore in that moment, he'd make sure Y/N didn't end up like all the others. She would live. He'd break this wretched curse just for her. He was sure of it.
______
"How could you be so reckless?! Do you want to die?" Kakashi shouted at his friend who could only stand there angrily, arms crossed over her chest and one foot in the other direction. She didn't need to be lectured by someone who took just as many risks every single mission as she did.
"Kakashi, I really don't want to hear it. You have no idea how it went."
"Yeah but Naruto does, and we were just talking."
She placed her free hand over her chest and exclaimed even angrier than before, "You're going to trust a kid over me? Naruto even?" It was just low to trust Naruto when she was right there to explain herself. Just let her speak for once, she wanted to say but he of course, had something else to say.
He waved his arm toward the ramen shop, eyes glaring. "Don’t be rude. He's right there. What is wrong with you?"
Indeed, Naruto was sitting inside Ichiraku with Jiraiya at his side, munching on pork ramen while the pair fought outside. Kakashi was eating with them, taking a break from his work to just relax with his master and student when out of the corner of his eye he noticed Y/N stumbling down the street on her crutch.
He heard when she got back home that she was in the infirmary for a couple days. He had no idea for what reason until Naruto explained to him what happened. She was being needlessly reckless on the battlefield, relying too much on her kekkei genkai and not enough on her brain. She threw herself right in the way of an enemy, for what reason, he didn't know. All he knew was that she could have died and she didn't seem to care one bit.
Rightfully so, he was mad. Normally he preferred not to make a scene in the open like this, but there wasn't anyone else around and he was red-hot.
She huffed. "He knows I don't mean anything bad by that. How could he not? I'm also his sensei, you know."
"Doesn't matter," Kakashi brushed off her words. "What you did was dangerous and you don't seem to care. Next time what are you gonna do? Run right into the arms of the enemy?"
"No, I would never. Kakashi, you're just being a jerk right now. I'm literally injured from the hip down and you have to yell at me? Jeez, just be grateful I'm alive, okay? Things happen," she tried to reason with him, but he didn't acknowledge it. He wasn't exactly feeling all that rational.
"Things don't just happen like that."
She groaned, "Well apparently they do, because it happened to me."
His eye narrowed and she noticed the way he clenched and unclenched his fists a couple times by his sides. Clearly he was just trying to channel his anger, but he really had no reason to be so upset. She hadn't done anything to him. He really needed to relax. "This is so like you L/N's. Always so emotional. Always thinking you're stronger than you actually are."
"Excuse you-"
"Get a grip, you aren't going to live forever."
"First off, don't interrupt me. Second, don't talk about my clan ever again, you hear me, Hatake? We don't live to please your dumbass," she cursed, how dare he say shit about her clan. That asshole. He was just being so...so unlike himself. She had no idea what had gotten into him, but she hated it and just wanted to continue on her way before he said something else stupid.
Normally, she didn't expect to be bombarded in the street nearly the second she leaves the hospital, but Kakashi never fails to surprise her.
"I've got to go. Don't bother following me." With that, she took off past him, rushing as fast as she could on her crutch, which was pathetically slow. Silently, she cringed at how ridiculous she must look waddling around like this in a fit of rage. Nevermind that. She had better things to do.
He huffed out the breath he had been holding to walk back into the ramen shop, taking his seat beside Naruto and slouching down into the stool. Immediately, Master Jiraiya met his eyes, wisdom about to drip from his tongue once again. "You need to go apologize."
"Why? She clearly doesn't want that right now."
"Well, to start, you insulted her clan which is a big no-no. Imagine saying that to an Uchiha. You're lucky she let you off so easily."
"Yeah, Kakashi. You kinda just attacked her out there in the street," Naruto added.
Jiraiya continued, "Mainly though, the longer you let her stay angry, the worse it'll be for you in the end. Trust me."
"She said don't follow her."
"And you're actually going to listen?" The older man laughed. "You and her fighting reminded me a lot of young Tsunade and I. And let me tell you, you don't just let a woman like that go. I sure did. It’s not a fun time."
"Yeah, Kakashi sensei, go find Y/N."
The jounin stood from his stool and slapped a ramen voucher onto the counter top to pay for his meal. This really didn't seem like a good idea, he had to admit. But he would trust the process. This was the author of his favorite romance series, after all. How could he get something like this wrong? To put blind faith into Jiraiya on realistic romantic matters was probably the not the wisest thing to do, but it was the only thing he had to go on. "I'll go, but this doesn't sound like good advice."
"If you let this go, she's might run into the arms of another man for comfort. Do you want that?"
Tch, there was no way she was gonna do that. She barely had any friends. If anything she would go see Kurenai. Still, he pulled back the cloth at the entrance and muttered, "I gotta catch up to her."
"'Atta boy," Jiraiya cheered, waving off the copy nin. "Another bowl, Naruto?"
"Yes, please!"
Kakashi walked down the streets, looking for the woman he was sent on a mission to find and apologize to. He searched through the shops and the stands for her, walked by her apartment no sign of her. It wasn't until he stumbled by the bookstore that he found her eyeing down the display out front, leaning comfortably on her crutch.
"Y/N," he called to her, and he watched as she tensed up without a second. He caught up to her, walking to stand beside her in front of the store windows. "I need to talk to you."
"What do you want?" She questioned, peering over at him with a quirked brow. He seemed calmed down by now. Thankfully. "Also, didn't I tell you not to follow me?"
"You did, but Jiraiya told me to apologize."
"So this isn't even on your own accord, you're doing it because Jiraiya told you so." He groaned. Of course she would twist his words and find some way to make things bad on his end. She was angry with him, what did he expect to happen? Her to accept him with open arms?
"Listen, I'm sorry for yelling at you. I was just overwhelmed."
"With what? I wasn't paying attention to anything but the anger." She picked at her finger nails in an attempt to remain casual, but really she was just itching to hear what he had to say. She was willing to give him a second chance, only because he was normally so sweet. This was just out of character for him.
He replied, "I was scared for you. Naruto told me about how you nearly died, and I was upset that you did that. I was upset because I could only think about what if you had been overpowered and the enemy killed you." His explanation was weak, but he hoped she would accept it as truth. He really wasn't lying. When he heard she was in the hospital indefinitely, he nearly had a heart attack himself. He worried for her every time she left on a mission without him. It just meant that if she failed, he wasn't there to protect her himself. He couldn't handle that thought.
"So you were worried?"
"Yes."
"Well, that's sweet of you, isn't it?"
"I'd miss you, you know. If you died."
She froze. That wasn't what she expected him to say. When she looked over at him, he was just staring into the storefront window, but she could feel the sadness in waves running off his body. She wobbled around on her crutch to face him, a hand getting coming up to rest on his shoulder. "It's okay."
"I don't want you going on missions without me because every time it scares the shit out of me thinking they'll bring you back dead. Every time. I don't know why."
"It's normal to worry for your teammates."
"It's not the same, and you know it."
"Ah." And she felt it. Even if it was just a little hint of something, she felt his infatuation roll off his body and she took it in like a drink of cold water. So refreshing. Was he attracted to her? She had no idea before this that he cared so much but from the sound of it, he had some strong feelings attached. She wanted to reach out and hug him, tell him it was going to be okay, but that felt too personal. Instead, she leant back and muttered, "You know, Kakashi, I worry about you too."
"It's good we both have someone who cares, right?"
"Right."
"Well, I should be on my way, but, uh, if you need some help getting up to your apartment-"
"I should be fine."
"Okay, good."
"Yeah, so uh, see you," she turned on her heel and started heading in the other direction toward her home when suddenly, his hand reached out to stop her.
"Wait, Y/N. I think..."
"What is it?"
"It's just that I need you. Please be careful from now on."
She stopped, turning around just enough to get a good look at his face. He only watched her, a glimmer of something she didn't recognize in his eye.
"As long as you take care of yourself too, Mister."
"Y/N, I…"
All she could feel was a rough fabric rubbing against her face for a second before the full picture came into view.
Mask to lips. I repeat, mask to lips.
She stared at him, as he kissed her right there in front of their favorite bookstore. When he pulled away after a second, he seemed just as shocked as she was. She pressed a hand to her forehead and struggled to find the right words to say.
Kakashi Hatake just kissed her.
And she definitely liked it. More than any other kiss she’d ever had before. She loved it. Mask or not, that was one of the best surprises of her entire life, and she honestly had no idea how to react. She settled for the easiest possible thing, running in the opposite direction, give herself time to think over what that meant for the two of them if anything at all. Kakashi wasn’t the type to have a girlfriend, he was always single. There just wasn’t room in his life for her.
There was plenty room in her life to fit him in comfortably. And there was more than enough room in her bed as well.
Flustered, with heat coming to sit in her cheeks and run up her neck, she turned and motioned in the direction of her home. She just had too many thoughts to sit here and pretend she wasn’t dying inside from the tension.
"I've got to run home now," she managed to say. "Well, not run, with these crutches and all, but you know what I mean."
"Yeah, I should be going too. I'll see you around,” he mumbled, running his hand through his hair and down the back of his neck.
"See you."
And into separate directions they went, just as confused as ever.
______
"Kakashi, I swear to God, if you don't stay on your side of the bed, I'm gonna-
"You'll what? Hit me? Go ahead. You're the one that keeps snoring."
"Shut up!" she exclaimed, rolling over in the bed and planting her fist directly in the middle of his chest. He didn't even flinch, she hadn't meant to hurt him anyway. She was just so annoyed. You would think that the stoic Hatake would be easy to sleep beside but no, he was a pain in the ass. He was rude. He was way too hot under the sheets. He still smelled like dog even after taking a bath. Just overall a bad experience, definitely 0 out of 10.
"What? It's the truth."
She groaned, throwing one of her arms over her eyes, burying her nose in the crook of her elbow. "Whatever. Don't ever mention my snoring again. It’s embarrassing me." She was self-conscious. She was usually so good at maintaining a cool and calm presence and now Kakashi was seeing that all crumble. Great.
"Fine."
"Can't you just stay on your side so we can both sleep comfortably?"
"Can't you just stop snoring so I can sleep comfortably?"
What a bastard. She could practically feel him snickering beneath his mask, and she felt frustration bubbling up in her chest. He was annoying. The audacity of this man, laughing and causing trouble in the night when they clearly had a mission to continue tomorrow. She could actually feel the delight radiating off his form.
She jumped up from her spot and threw herself onto the man beside her, attempting to make a vicious grab for the throat so she could maybe shut him up for just a few seconds. He dodged easily, taking her wrists in his calloused hand and lowering them to rest on his chest. Still, he continued to laugh at her. She felt like an utter joke sitting there on his stomach, looking at him through loose strands of her hair.
She grumbled under her breath, her cheeks puffing out full of embarrassment, "Stupid."
"Me? Stupid? Look at you."
She replied swiftly, "What about me? You're the one with that ugly grin on your face." Quickly, she snatched her hands out from under his to cross her arms over her chest. She rocked back a bit on her knees to get a better look at his indeed ugly face.
Except he definitely wasn't ugly, and that grin was more devilishly handsome than anything else. And honestly, she felt herself starting to get flustered in the position she'd put herself in. Of course she didn't hate Kakashi. He was one of her friends and coworkers. It was just that sometimes he could be casually attractive and she found herself falling under his spell.
He just looked so fucking good lying there, staring up at her with a glimmer in his dark eyes. She could see the smile outlined under his mask. His hands had felt warm and firm around her own fingers. She missed his touch, there she said it, any touch on her body from Kakashi Hatake felt like heaven. He was far too cute, and the soft contact between them drove her crazy.
She wanted to punch herself for thinking such silly things. This was Kakashi, one of her frenemies. Not boyfriend material. Stupid. Silly.
If only he didn't look so good, Jesus christ. Get your brain out of the gutter, Y/N.
Little did she know, his mind was already waist deep in those damn gutters and he was loving it.
"You really think that?"
"What? That you're ugly?" She asked, tilting her head to the side just a bit as if to think about it. Only a second later, another mischievous smile crossed her lips. "Of course."
He lifted his fingers to slid along her waist and down to her hips, fingers curling ever so slightly around her curves. She shuddered as his hands slid down to hold the sides of her bare thighs in his hands, his warm, strong hands with the softest fingertips. She wanted to die.
Had they kissed before? Yes. We're they somewhat romantically involved? Maybe. Did that give him any good reason to rest his rough hands on her thighs like that? Probably, and her thoughts were running a mile a minute at this point.
"Kakashi...stop that," she said softly, her voice lowering from how it was before. She suddenly felt a lot smaller, scared even. Hooking up with Kakashi wasn't something she planned on doing anytime in the near future, if at all. He was her friend, and she felt strange sitting in his lap with his hands all over her. It felt so right but wrong at the same time, like she was breaking the law. Well, laws of friendship that is.
She cared about Kakashi, more than she wanted to admit. He wasn't just a friend, he was something weirdly in between and she couldn't exactly put her finger on how she felt about him. All she knew was that if she was going to have sex with this man, it would be the right way. They would have to date first. She wasn't just gonna sleep around this time. He was different.
She wanted to impress him, to make him smile and laugh, to take him out to dinner and hold hands on their way home, to kiss at her doorstep. She wanted all of that before any of this.
His hands dropped from her sides and she crawled away from him, grabbing her blanket and cradling herself in it. "Listen, Y/N, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
"I know, it's not your fault. Don't worry about it."
It was quiet. Just the sounds of both their breaths filling the air and the crickets chirping in the darkness outside. She shifted in her blanket to rest her head on the wall, leaning against it with her shoulder. He remained on his back, staring up at the empty ceiling tiles.
It was now so terribly awkward. Thanks, Y/N.
Finally, he broke the silence. "You, uh, don't snore all that much. I was just teasing you."
"Thanks," she exhaled. "You're not as ugly as I said."
"I know."
Wow, Kakashi. So modest.
Her words fell right into place as she spoke, emotions slipping out with each breath. She looked at his profile in the dark, the way his bedhead stood on end, his nose pointed upward and his lips sat calmly, the curve of his chin under the edge of his mask, the way his eyes just sat there unmoving and gentle, brows soft above the eye. She took in all of him as she confessed, "I just don't want it to be like this. I don't want to fall for you this way."
"I get it."
"I just think that you and I could be something different. You're not like the other guys to me, at least, I don't think of you that way," she took a deep breath. He still stared deep in the ceiling, and somehow it made her comfortable enough to confess everything she'd been feeling. It was as if he could just lay there and listen without words forever. "I don't want you to just fuck me before we really...well I don't know, we've never even been on a date. I...I think I'm ready to fall in love with you."
"Then let's do it."
She peered over at him, lips agape with surprise. She hadn't expected much at all, but certainly not that. "What?"
"When we get back to the village, I'll take you on a date, more if things go well. We can take it as slow as you want," he told her, turning to lay on his side, facing her. He watched as she cuddled further into the comforter, only a peek of her face in his view. She was actually kinda cute through all those worn and torn layers. "I don't think I can let you go this time."
"Really?"
"Anything for you."
She ducked her head down to stare at the hardwood beneath her feet. She was overwhelmed by how nice he was being. Normally, it didn't go like this. Things normally got sexual so quick there wasn't even a chance for these sorts of conversations. It was just different with Kakashi. She could say no to him and expect better, because she knew he could deliver. "No one has ever treated me like this before."
He smiled. "Well, it's about time someone did."
"Can you hold me?"
"Come on." He lifted his arm up with the covers attached so she could crawl over and burrow herself next him, tucked right against his side. He rested his arm around her shoulders and held her close to his chest. Things were looking good for the both of them. Better than they had in a long time.
He wished this kind of thing could last forever. The beating of her heart, the laughter in her voice, the shine in her eyes. He just wished he could have bottled it all up and held it close to him for the rest of his life.
But he waited too long, and the opportunity slipped from his grasp.
______
The pair fought hard. Kakashi was better than her, everyone knew that. The enemy targeted her for that reason. It was clear as day that she was important to Kakashi, and the enemy quickly caught onto that. He was quick to bring the knife to her neck, pressing the woman’s back tightly to his chest. The blade stung her skin, already piercing the flesh from the bit of pressure he applied.
She cried out, feeling a trail of blood begin running down her neck. Her nails clawed at his arm, desperate to get him to release her from his clutches, but he persisted. One hand held onto her chin tightly, keeping her face from thrashing, and the other continued to apply more and more pressure into the blade.
For the first time in a long time, she found herself feeling unrestricted fear. She was scared. Scared for her life. She’d never been in this situation before, feeling so completely and utterly helpless like a deer caught in the headlights. Kakashi was right there, she should have known everything was going to be okay. After all, she had the village’s strongest veteran on her side.
It wasn’t the pain that caused the tears to bubble up in the corners of her eyes, no, it was Kakashi. The way his eyes darted over to the them, and she could feel his heart beginning to race, the hairs on the back of his neck standing on end, and the fear creeping up into his heart. He never wore his heart on his sleeve. He was so closed off, sometimes she could only get a wisp of emotion from him, especially the ones that showed such vulnerability.
Now it all seemed to come tumbling out like a landslide. She was drowning in fear, his and her own.
“Let her go,” he called out, practically pleading with the man across from him, but it was in vain.
“Like I’d listen to some filthy leaf shinobi,” the spy replied angrily. He felt so hot, burning up with so much anger she wanted to throw up. What had they done to upset him this badly? Her jaw was starting to ache from being held so tightly, and she swore she could taste blood running down her throat. This was bad. This was so terribly, miserably bad.
Kakashi stood there, his hands hovering at his sides, unknowing of what to do. She was already bleeding out all over the collar of her shirt. If he made a single move, the man could easily finish the job with one fatal swipe. The copy nin felt cornered. Hopeless. What was there left to do? He’d let the love of his life fall in the hands of some petty criminal.
Come on, think of something. Anything. Just think of something.
“What? You upset I’ve got your little girlfriend here?”
God, he was so desperate. The man taunting him didn’t help at all. He just felt himself spiralling deeper into hopelessness. He bargained, “Please, just let her go. I’ll give you whatever you want.”
It wouldn’t work though. This man was set in his ways, and there was no changing that. He came into this fight knowing exactly what he wanted to do. And he was going to finish the job.
“This is for what you shinobi have done to my people,” he sneered before she felt the knife dip further into her neck, sliding painfully across her throat. He dropped her head from his grasp, and as soon as he had, her body crumbled down to the ground. She collapsed in a bleeding heap on the dirt.
The criminal quickly ran into the forest behind them, getting lost among the trees and the bushes within seconds. None of that mattered though. Kakashi could only run over to her limp body lying there on the ground, sputtering and coughing on thick blood filling her throat and lungs. Her cheeks and lips painted red now from spitting so much up. He fell to his knees beside her body, and for the first time in a long time, he felt a tear drip down his face.
She cried, hot tears running down her cheeks into the dirt on either side of her head. She cried for her pathetic self, having been attacked and injured in this way. She cried for Kakashi, feeling the pain and sadness, the panic, radiating off his form. She took in every emotion he was feeling, wanting to savor being with him for as long as she had, to fully take him in one last time.
“Y/N, it’s gonna be okay,” he whispered, his hands running over her hair and cheek, smearing blood on her skin and his fingers. “We’ll bring you back to the village. The Hokage can fix you.” His words were so soft into the air, like if he spoke any louder he would hurt her.
They both knew that none of what he was saying was true. She was as good as dead.
She lifted her hand weakly to sit on his other hand. “I…” The woman took a labored breath.. “Love you, Kashi.”
“No, no, no. Don’t say that,” he hushed her, feeling his heart grow heavier in his chest with every second that passed, every look at her bloody neck and face, her laboring chest as she took hopeless breaths. He was falling apart in this moment, desperate for fate to change, for her to magically be better. He choked, “You can’t die, Y/N.”
“It’s okay.” Her words were slurred and hard to hear, liquid bubbling up in her throat to the point she was almost incomprehensible. “I love you,” she confessed once again. She wanted those to be her last ever words to him, the words he would remember for the rest of his life. To know someone out there loved him more than anything else.
He had to know that he was her everything. He was the best thing that ever happened to her, and she was going to miss him so terribly wherever her soul went after this. She just wished there was more time to tell him everything she felt. Yet, time was passing faster than she thought, and all those words felt impossible.
“I love you, too. You have to live for me. Just keep breathing, it's going to be okay.”
“It...hurts.”
More misery erupted his chest, and he found himself wanting to scream. Tears dripped steadily down both his cheeks now as he watched this woman die in front of him, one of the only people he truly needed in his life. “I know, baby, I know. I’m sorry I let this happen to you.”
She nodded faintly, her eyes beginning to close. He was starting to panic. Was this his last moment to say goodbye? Their time together was so short, how was this fair? He’d already lost everyone he ever cared about, and now this? He felt like the gods were laughing down at him and his misfortune.
“You were the best thing that ever happened to me. I don’t know how I’ll do this without you.”
She didn’t respond, but she was still breathing.
“Y/N, please.”
And he watched as her chest fell still and her labored breaths were silent on his ears. He found himself gathering her form up against his chest, her head cradled in the crook of his neck, just sobbing into her hair, weeping for a long lasting love gone in an instant.
He carried her body home that day himself. Something he never anticipated happening, but should have prepared for. He always thought he was going to watch as someone else carried her home to him, death long gone before he had the chance to see. He never thought it would be right in front of him. He thought he could protect her, save her from the clutches of fate. He was so wrong.
Kakashi was alone once again.

Makeshift Family
Kakashi x Reader
A/N: Reader raised Naruto.
Summary: You’ve come to realize Naruto and Kakashi are your family.
Tumblr media
The ramen smelled delicious as you walked home, mouthwatering with anticipation; you knew the kid was going to wake up as soon as you stepped into the apartment. Just the thought of his reaction – most likely loud and excited, made you rush home. Carrying the plastic bag carefully, you hurried home, jogging up the stairs to the cozy two-bedroom apartment. Walking in, you were able to take three steps into the kitchen before Naruto appeared, feet scrambling against the wooden floor. He nearly fell over as he grabbed at the counter for balance; he was still in his pajamas, hair disheveled as he rubbed at his eyes.
“You got us ramen for breakfast!”
“I sure did, kid,” you grinned, watching as he grabbed the bag and settled onto a stool. “We’re celebrating a very special day.”
Naruto looked up confused as he pushed a bowl to you. “What are we celebrating? And where is Kakashi Sensei?”
Moving around the counter, you sat next to him; you watched as the young boy started in on his favorite ramen. He was no longer a child anymore, he was thirteen now, growing every day. Yet, it felt like yesterday when you agreed to take him in, to raise him as your own and it had been the best decision you had ever made.
He was your son, your crazy little boy.
“Thirteen years ago, I met you, Naruto,” you smiled, nudging him playfully. “ I came to see what all the fuss was about; everyone was talking about this little baby boy. Then I met you, you opened your little eyes and I knew…I knew I had love to give to you.”
He stopped eating and stared over at you, and you nearly cried. You hoped he understood that even if you weren’t his biological mother, you loved him like one; you would do anything to protect him, anything.
Naruto grinned. “I’m glad you took me home! We’re family, aren’t we?”
Before you could answer, the door opened and Kakashi walked in, bag in hand. He strolled into the kitchen and placed a bag in front of Naruto.
“Sorry, I’m late,” he said to you, eyes glancing over to his student. “I heard it was a special day today, Naruto.”
“Yup,” he murmured, slurping up ramen. “It’s the day Y/N and I became a family!”
You held back a smile as he continued to eat, making eye contact with Kakashi. “I figured you’d be late, so I went to pick up ramen myself. I was right, of course.”
Even under his black mask, you could tell he was smirking; your cheeks went warm as he pushed the bag he brought in front of Naruto. “Here’s extra ramen. I need to speak to your mother privately.”
Naruto and you both looked at Kakashi, the word mother lingered in the air. Your heart pounded as you eyed the boy next you, waiting for his response; a little scared for it. Then it happened, he grinned widely and shrugged, reaching for more ramen. “Fine by me.”
Holding back tears, you ruffled the kid’s hair and followed Kakashi out to the balcony. Once outside, the cool breeze hit your eyes and you cried. Kakashi leaned his back against the railing, crossed is arms against his chest as looked at Naruto through the glass sliding door.
“You’ve been a good mother to him.”
Letting the tears fall, you placed both hands on the rail and smiled. “Naruto has been the best thing in my life, when you called me his mother and he didn’t object – it made me happy.”
“Can you keep a secret?”
“Hardly,” you admitted, wiping tears from your eyes.
Kakashi chuckled and moved from the railing, stepping behind you. Feeling the weight of his body on your back, you relaxed as his hands fell onto your hands. His breathing was steady, and you figured he had pulled down his mask because his lips found the edge of your right earlobe. Kakashi kissed you lightly before turning you around and you wondered if he learned it from that book he read so often – silly man.
“He calls you his mother when he’s around the other students. Sasuke, Sakura, the others – they all know you has Naruto’s mother. That is who you are.”
Tears filled your eyes again, your lips pursed to hold back a joyous cry as Kakashi chuckled. His face was filled with content as he pulled you into a gentle kiss, arms around your waist. When he drew away, he placed both hands on the side of your face and rubbed his thumb against your cheeks.
“Naruto and you are lucky to have each other; it’s been a privilege to watch you two grow as a family.”
Nodding, you smiled and playfully bopped his nose. “You’re part of this family too, even if don’t want to be.”
Kakashi’s face fell for a moment before he reached down for your hands; he held them tight as he spoke softly. “Having Naruto and you in my life these past thirteen years, you’ve given me something I didn’t know I wanted.”
Unable to hold back, you throw your arms around his neck and force him into a hug. He leaned forward, closing his eyes as you rubbed the nape of his neck; your fingers caressed his hair as he sighed contently into your shoulder.
You knew Kakashi wasn’t exactly an open book, but you learned to be patience over the years and even grew to love him. He had been there for you when Naruto was an infant, showing up at the right moments; when you were feeling overwhelmed by single motherhood. He stayed up with you on the nights Naruto wouldn’t stop crying – giving obscured advice that always worked. He was there for his first steps and his very first birthday – all the ones that came after too. He was even in tons of photos, some framed on the walls of the apartment. People who came over noted how the three of you looked like a happy family and it was true; there were photos of the three of you at the park, on birthdays eating cake and your favorite was one of a young Naruto napping on Kakashi’s lap as he read that darn book.
“Mom! Sensei! Can we go get more ramen!”
Kakashi laughed against your shirt and kissed your shoulder before moving away; you watched as pulled up his mask and beckoned you to follow. You watched for a moment as he pulled back the sliding door, but he turned and waited for you. Walking over, he moved aside for you to go in first. The two of you walked back into the kitchen to find Naruto scarfing down another bowl of ramen. He looked up when you sat next to him, his face bright and warm.
“So, can we go get more ramen?”
Naruto grinned when Kakashi placed his hand on top his head, giving it a good shake before agreeing to take him to get more. You looked at the two and felt your heart pumping with joy. Just thinking about this day years ago, when you first laid your eyes on a little child – an orphan who needed someone to love them. And all the happy moments that followed shortly after that day. Naruto and Kakashi were your  family, the three of you were a makeshift family and it was more than you could ever hope for.

Cheer Up
Iruka Umino x Reader
Synopsis: Taking care of Naruto since he was a baby meant many things. It meant cleaning up after his messes and it also meant drying his tears when he kept failing. You were just thankful that Iruka cared for him as much as you did, or cheering the young boy up would be an impossible task.
A/n: I have a thing for mom figure reader. I guess the age is around 24? Idk the reader is older than Iruka but a bit younger than Kakashi.
Tumblr media
You pursed your lips at the sight of him alone on the swing, stopping short as you contemplated whether or not to go comfort him. The other shinobi stopped with you, questioning looks being thrown at one another as to why you were lost in thought. “You guys go report to the Hokage, I’m going to talk to him” you whispered out before moving swiftly towards the blonde boy.
You heard the whispers behind you as your teammates wondered how they were going to explain why you were missing and even why Naruto mattered to you in the first place. A frown formed on your lips, your pace faltering as the words struck a chord within you. Anger blossomed in your chest and upon seeing your sudden change in pace, Kakashi spoke up and silenced them instantly.
“We will simply tell him that she was doing her job... Remember, her number one job is to protect and care for Naruto, that will come first. Now lets go” A smile graced your lips at how your best friend backed you up on this, and you were truly thankful for having him in your life. Turning your head, you shot him a smile before moving once more towards Naruto.
Upon reaching the boy, the sound of sniffling hit your ears and your heart broke further at the thought of him crying alone. “Hey buddy” you cooed out, hand pressing against his spine as you knelt down beside him. His eyes were trained on the families celebrating with their brand new gennin sons and daughters, only causing your frown to deepen.
“Hey, its okay” your voice got lighter as your hand drug up and down his spine, fingers lightly scratching at his jacket. His sniffling got worse as more tears fell down his cheek, and that's when you noticed that his signature goggles were missing from his head. “Where are your goggles baby?”
It was meant to be comforting, as if to remind him that no matter what he wore you’d still be proud of him, but it only seemed to worsen everything. “Oh honey! I’m sorry” you called out, arms flinging around his body as you yanked him into your embrace. He began to mumble a teary explanation, proclaiming that he threw it out thinking he would be able to replace it with a headband.
Your own headband pressed against his hair, the cold metal of the plate pressing against his ear. The feeling seemed to make him wail harder. Cursing, you ripped off the headband and showed it to him. “You see this thing? It doesn't mean shit. It doesn’t define who I am and it doesn't define who you are! With it or without it, you are still Naruto Uzumaki. Nothing will change how proud I am of you. This is just a road bump, you can’t give up.” Your words reached him, but you could tell he was still hung up on the stupid headband. Your fingers gripped it angrily, nails digging violently into the stretchy material. You understood why he felt this way, once upon a time, you felt the same, but it didn’t matter. None of it mattered.
“Don’t believe me about the headband? Here” feeling sick of holding what he so desired, you whipped the it away, not looking at where you were throwing as you were purely focused on getting the point across. You missed an audible ‘oof’ and instead gripped Naruto’s cheeks in your hands as his eyes were trained on the direction of your throw. “It doesn’t matter, stop looking at it!”
“I get that but you hit Iruka-Sensei with it”
Your eyes widened as you whipped your head towards the direction he was looking, immediately landing on Iruka who was sporting a sheepish smile as he held your headband in one hand and his forehead in the other. Naruto’s cheeks were released as you stood swiftly, apologizing profusely for hitting him on accident. Iruka’s eyes flicked from yours to Naruto’s, trying to piece together the reason for why you threw it in the first place, but once he noticed Naruto’s tear stained cheeks, he understood everything.
His sheepish smile fell as he began to walk towards you two. “I can see you’re upset... But remember that there is always next time... You just have to practice some more on that duplication jutsu” Your eyes widened at his words before you turned and cocked your head down at the boy who was now looking everywhere but at you.
“Duplication Jutsu? Naruto, you know that's my specialty! Why didn’t you come to me”
His cheeks grew a dark shade of red as he kicked his feet below him, the swing swerving by his nervous movements. “I don't know, I didn’t want to bother you and you didn’t have any time to help-” it was your turn to heat up, but not from embarrassment. “Naruto Uzumaki” you hissed, dropping down once more as you gripped the swing, stopping its violent thrashing in its tracks. He slowly raised his eyes to your angry gaze, yet he knew you weren’t mad at him.
“I raised you. I will always have time for you....” Silence filled the space between you as he watched you think through something, “That's it, I’m telling the Hokage that I’m done with missions”
“NO!” Naruto called out, lunging at you as you stood swiftly to grab the headband from Iruka. Naruto beat you to it and ripped the headband from your hand, “Please don’t! It makes you happy-”
“YOU MAKE ME HAPPY”
The families near by froze at your screech, eyes landing on the three of you as Naruto’s lip began to quiver. Feeling the eyes on you, Iruka turned and told them they were dismissed. You mentally thanked him and made a note of thanking him out loud later. “But how can I make you happy if I keep failing at something so simple?” The angry furrow in your brow softened, eyes watering as he once again broke down in front of you. “Naruto-”
“Because she knows what its like to struggle”
You closed your eyes as Iruka came up beside you, dropping down to Naruto’s level as he took the headband from him. “You see her and I, and you see other Ninja’s, but you don’t see the struggle we all went through... Seeing you work hard makes her happy. I know this because it makes me happy”
Your stomach flipped at his words and you had to practically hide the love in your eyes as you opened them to watch Iruka talk. The way he was talking had Naruto entranced, something that was hard for you to do. Iruka’s hand reached up to wipe away the stray tears as he continued his lecture on why this failure is nothing but a speed bump.
“How about I treat you to some ramen, but only if Y/n is okay with that?”
Iruka’s brown eyes flicked up to your wide eyes, causing your heart to skip a beat at how he smiled at you. Afraid of the shakiness in your voice, you nodded silently. Naruto’s screech brought a smile to your face as he attacked you in a hug, his head buried into your stomach as he thanked you over and over again for letting him have his favorite food.
As soon as the hug started, it was over and Naruto was bounding off to go grab his things. Iruka stood once he was gone, towering over you as you kept your eyes trained on the retreating boy. “You’re strong, do you know that?” you smiled sadly at the words, it was almost as if he was reading your thoughts. “Sometimes I question it... Especially when he says that he’s afraid of coming to me... I feel like a failure-”
“Well you two are the same person now aren't you”
Iruka’s hands cupped your cheeks as he forced you to look at him, and now it was your turn for your lip to quiver. “I just feel like a failure sometimes... I hate seeing him fail and there's nothing I can do-"
"How about I give him extra training? Would that help?"
Your glossy eyes widened, heart thumping wildly as you looked up at Iruka in relief. Finally, someone else who was able to help you carry the weight. It wasn't like caring for Naruto was a burden, in fact, it was more rewarding than being a Jonin…
But maybe it was time to have someone by your side....
The tension between you and the teacher grew as you leant more into his hands, a sense of serenity flowing through you like calm waves after a violent storm. You’ve felt this way before with Iruka, the two of you had a fling as teens, but it never went anywhere, especially because of Naruto. You just forgot how much you missed the mans calming aura around you. "EW WHAT THE HECK!" The shriek had the two of you jumping apart, you gripping your chest in shock as Iruka awkwardly scratched the back of his neck with your headband grasped tightly in his other hand. Naruto's eyes darted between the two of you and you could practically see the smoke coming from his ears because of how hard the mental gears were turning.
"You dating my mom Iruka-Sensei?? Cuz if so we are gonna have to have a talk"
The gasp falling from your lips mixed with Naruto's empty threat had Iruka chuckling to himself. “First off, I am not old enough to be your mother, I prefer sister. Second off, that is none of your - oh” The force of Naruto attacking you in a hug stopped you short, the air being knocked out of your lungs along with your words. “You’re my mom, no matter how old you are” it was mumbled, but his words whispered into your stomach had your heart fluttering in unconditional love.
A smile grew on your lips as you raised your hand to drag it through his blonde hair. Bending down, you pressed a kiss awkwardly to the top of his spiky hair, “Alright, why don't you go get Ramen now... Let me get you some money” you began as your hand reached back to grab your wallet. Iruka’s hand shot out, grabbing your wrist and stopping your movement short. Your eyebrows furrowed as he leaned in closer, his lips right against your ears so he could whisper without Naruto hearing him.
“I got it sweetheart”
The heat spread throughout your neck and face, the nickname that rolled off his tongue causing your brain to short circuit as the blonde boy began to pull away. You had to compose yourself before he noticed the tension, but it was too late...
“Maybe you two should go on a date... This tension is weird!”
“N-Naruto!!!”
The young boy burst out into a fit of giggles, which only made your embarrassment grow tenfold as the man beside you was silent... Why was he silent- Oh....
OH
Your eyes flicked up to his face to find that his cheeks were a bright red as well... Maybe he felt the same way about missing the past... “I think a date would be nice.... But maybe after I treat you to some Ramen Naruto” Naruto’s giggles stopped short and soon a loud, disgusted ‘ewww’ was being thrown your way. Your glare turned to Naruto, as if screaming at him to be silent without saying a word. The young boy shut up immediately and scratched his neck sheepishly, “Okay, well... Can we go get Ramen then Iruka-Sensei??” You mentally thanked the gods that he somehow got the message and switched the subject, hopefully then Iruka would forget this ever happened.
Iruka nodded as the two of them began to walk towards the Ramen shop, leaving you standing there smiling like a fool at how it looked. Raising the boy was so hard, especially when you did it all alone... You kind of wished Iruka was being serious-
“Don’t think I’m forgetting about you... Be ready for the date once I bring home Naruto!”
Your whole body froze as Iruka’s words struck you in the core, so he wasn’t kidding. You quickly picked up your jaw and nodded at him with a smile, “I’ll be waiting!” They continued on their way, leaving you alone in the courtyard outside of the academy. God, you felt like a teenager again! Plopping on to the swing behind you, you began to let your mind wander to the future and the scene you saw today...
You hoped you could relive it forever, and a date with Iruka was the first step to ensuring that.

Chapter Two (Chapter one)
TW: MENTIONS OF ALCOHOL
You were snapped out of your daze by Naruto’s hands slamming down in front of you.
“Can I help you with something?” You questioned, looking up from where your head rested in your hands. You were leaning against the counter waiting for any customer that needed to check out. Luckily, it was a rather slow day at the pet store.
“Yeah actually, I was wondering if you had heard from Sasuke. I haven’t heard from him since the other night.” The look in his eyes seemed to hold a glint of genuine worry.
You sighed, “I’m sure he’s fine. You know he works too much, along with school. He’s always busy.”
He groaned, removing his hands from the register and throwing them up in slight frustration, “I know that, y/n!”, he started, “But I’m worried about him! Sakura hasn’t heard from him either.”
You laughed a little under your breath, “Naruto, I literally talked to him last night. He’s just studying a lot right now. He’s fine.”
Naruto’s face turned into a mixture of relief and confusion. Before he could ask any more questions a shy young woman walked up. His eyes seemed to grow three sizes, pushing you off the register so he could assist her. You stumbled, attempting to keep your composer in front of the customer. Silently coming to terms with fighting him over it after she left.
“Hi there, Hinata! How are you today? Did you find everything okay? What kind of pet do you have? I didn’t take you for a reptile lover! Nothing wrong with that of course!” His words seemed to spill out all at once, causing you to understand the situation completely.
Deciding to take advantage of the situation, you slipped off your name tag. “I’m going on break! You have the front! See you later, dobe!”
Knowing that he wouldn’t argue in front of Hinata, you slipped away. After retrieving your bag, you made your way to your car to get some much needed lunch.
 ------
You threw a goodbye at Naruto before closing your car door. The day at work had been stressful. A district manager decided to make a surprise visit and play twenty questions with you and your store manager, Kakashi.
You listened to some quiet music on your way home, a random playlist that Naruto had sent you.
If there is one thing I’ve found, love is what you deserve.
Shit, this is a sad song.
You pulled up to your driveway to find a truck you didn’t recognize. Upon turning off your car you wandered to the side door. Taking out your house key, you unlocked the door to chatter and laughter on the other side.
You slowly made your way into the living room, dropping your bag onto the kitchen table on your way. Following the voices, you found a miserable sight. Your mother was sitting with her legs over a man you didn’t know. Smiling and laughing. One of his hands resting on her leg and the other on her face, as they were getting closer together you let out an awkward cough.
Their heads shot towards you as the quickly separated, “Y/n!” Your mom began, “you are home early tonight!”
You rolled your eyes, heading towards the hallway, “I actually got off an hour late. I’ll be in my room.” After closing the door, you leaned against it, letting out a loud sigh.
That was the third new man this month.
You laid on your bed in relative silence, playing on your phone. The laughter in the living room muffled through your walls. Your phone vibrated in your hands.
Sasuke 10:43 PM
You home from work?
Y/n 10:44PM
Unfortunately. What’s up?
Sasuke 10:44PM
I don’t want to know. Wanna go get drunk at Olive Garden?
Y/n 10:45PM
I thought you would never ask.
Sasuke 10:46PM
Be there in 15
You opted to go out the backdoor to avoid the dreaded living room. Stopping by your younger brother’s room on the way out. After a soft knock he came to the door.
“Hey, I’m going out, I would avoid going in there if I were you. Have you two eaten?”
He nodded, “Yeah, we both ate, I think she’s already asleep. I can check on her later if you want.”
You sighed, “No, I’ll check on her. If I’m not home by one, then I’m at Sasuke’s or Sakura’s. Don’t worry about me. Text me if anything happens with… that.” You vaguely motioned towards the living room.
He laughed lightly, “Will do, text me if anything happens with you too.”
You laughed with him, agreeing with his request. Closing his door, you made your way down the hallway to your younger sister’s pink door. Many stickers littered the paint, among them being Frozen and My Little Pony. A large No Boys Allowed sign hung towards the top. You laughed a bit at the new addition, assuming that your brother had been bothering her.
Opening the door slowly, you peaked inside. Hearing her light snores, you closed the door back. You sighed, yet again, before heading towards the back door. Opening it and closing it back quietly.
Making your way to the front of the house, you noticed the new chill of the winter air. You pulled your sweater tighter and tucked your hands into the pockets. After a moment you saw the bright LED headlights of the all too familiar car. The car came to a stop just at the end of your driveway, turning off the lights so to not call attention to itself.
We’ve done this a few too many times. You thought to yourself while sauntering to the car.
The door unlocked for you to open it, as you did the inside lights turned on. A mix of blue and green danced along with the music playing. You put your bag at the feet of your seat before sitting down. Closing the door behind you, you looked over at Sasuke. His hair was up, once again. You giggled while squeezing the bun. He rolled his eyes while slapping your hand away gently.
“You’ve already seen it. What’s the big deal?” He sighed, putting his car into drive, and turning back on the lights.
“Oh, calm down. I like it. It’s just different is all!” You noticed his eyes glance over towards the man’s truck in your driveway, though he didn’t say a word about it.
After a few moments of comfortable silence, you piped up.
“Naruto’s worried about you. He said you haven’t talked to him or Sakura since we went out the other night.”
“I’ve been busy. I worked since then and I’ve been studying for finals.” He spoke in a calm voice, dropping off at the end.
“Then why the sudden invitation tonight?” You joked, nudging him on the shoulder.
He brushed you off, “I figured we could both use a break. You don’t even get a break from blondie at work for Christ’s sake.”
You snickered, “Fuck, you’re telling me.” He chuckled as he pulled the car into the shopping center. It was relatively empty, only a few cars scattered in the Olive Garden parking lot.
After parking, the two of you got out of the car. A few beeps came from the car as he hoped onto the curb with his hands deep in his front pockets.
“It’s getting colder out, it may even snow soon.” He mumbled next to you. You nodded.
“Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.”
Sasuke held the door open for you, allowing you to shuffle inside before him. The hostess looked up and still met eyes with him before you.
“Hello! And how many for you tonight?” She chippered, eyeing him for a bit too long. Sasuke seemed unfazed.
“Just the two of us. A booth please if you have one?” Her gaze finally fell on you, causing her smile to fade away.
“Of course, right this way.”
Both of you followed her to the booth, setting your menus on either side of the table. She dismissed herself as you occupied a seat.
“What are you getting to drink? Wine or something stronger?” Sasuke questioned, reading his own menu.
“I’d say wine. We can share a bottle if you would like? I’ll pay for it.”
He shook his head, “No, you can have it. I have to get us home in one piece tonight.”
You laughed, “I’ll just take it glass by glass then.”
The waitress appeared out of seemingly nowhere, “Hello! Will it be one ticket or two tonight?”
“Tw-“
“One. I’ve got it.” Sasuke cut you off.
You eyed him, but decided against arguing it.
“Okay! What can I get you to drink?” She held the pad closer to her face.
“I’ll have a water, and we will have a bottle of whatever Moscato you like best.” He stated, not giving you a chance to say otherwise.
After the waitress left, you looked at him with confusion.
“Oh, you want me to get drunk-drunk.” You laughed.
He shrugged, “You seem like you need it.”
The time seemed to go by quickly before you were almost done with the bottle. You were definitely still functioning, but were also definitely drunk. Sasuke got the check and paid before helping you to his car. Once you settled into your seat, you leaned back. He turned on the car, letting the music play quietly.
After a few moments, you once again spoke up.
“I don’t want to go home.” You muttered. For a moment, you almost thought he didn’t hear you from his silence.
“Why is that?” He questioned.
“She has another one over. I really don’t feel like dealing with that, as bad as it sounds.” You put you head in your hands while starring out the window.
He didn’t respond, deep in thought.
“Do you want to stay at my place tonight? I don’t think my brother would mind.”
You looked at him, “I don’t want to be a bother to you or Itachi. I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“No, you wouldn’t be a bother. I insist.” He answered almost instantly, “You can have my room and I’ll stay on the couch.”
You stayed quiet for a moment, “I would really like that… thank you, Sasuke.”
“Don’t thank me. That’s what friends are for.” He slowed down at a stop light, the light illuminating his features.
Had his eyes always been so bright in the light?
A familiar song came on the playlist he was playing.
And you got a lot on your mind, and your heart it looks just like mine. There’s no use in wasting your time, anymore.
“I didn’t think you liked this kind of music.” You stated, still waiting for the light to turn green.
“I don’t. I just like this song.” You chuckled lightly.
“Okay, whatever you say.”
The light turned green, causing him to pull forward towards his neighborhood.
I’m sorry I haven’t been myself. Something’s got me down, what it is I cannot tell.
“Do you ever find yourself upset for seemingly no reason?” You questioned out of nowhere.
The question seemed to take him by surprise. “Yeah, I suppose so.”
“Why do you think that is? I personally think that it is Karma from a past life. I believe that I did something horribly wrong in a past life for me to deserve to be sad, hurt, or angry with myself. It’s all I can think of.” You remarked.
He nodded, “That’s one way to see it. I think it’s just chemical imbalances, personally.”
I won’t be satisfied; with anything I’ve earned.
“I feel as if I don’t deserve any of the good things I’ve been given in my life.” You began, “I don’t understand what I’ve done to deserve them.”
“You don’t have to do anything for the world to be kind to you. That is how it is supposed to be.” He turned on his blinker to his house. “If anything, I believe you deserve even more than you’ve been given. The world has been harsh to you, y/n. And you deserve much better than that. You are a kind person, and you deserve nothing less.”
He turned off the car, opening the door and stepping out.
Fear is just a part of love.
He opened your door, helping you step out.
“I’m scared. I don’t know how much more of this I can take, Sasuke.”
He held you by the arm as he unlocked the front door.
“You’re strong. You shouldn’t be afraid. You have made it this far, and you can make it until the end. Don’t be fearful of life.” He whispered, keeping quiet as you followed him to his bedroom.
He opened his bedroom door, allowing you to come in. You put your bag down on his bedside chair.
“I can take the couch, Sasuke. I don’t mind.” He hushed you.
“No, I insist. Sleep in my bed. I’ll get you some clothes.”
He opened a few drawers and got you out a pair of basketball shorts and a t-shirt from his college.
You mumbled a thank you to which he shook his head.
“Try and get some rest. I’ll wake you up in the morning and get you home. Do you have to work tomorrow?” He inquired.
You shook your head, “No. I don’t. Do you?”
“No, I don’t. I also don’t have class. So just sleep until you wake up.”
You nodded, the drowsiness starting to set in from the wine. Just as he started to leave, you called out to him.
“Sasuke?”
“Hmm?” He looked back from the half open door.
“Thank you for speaking with me. I know I can be a lot.”
He shook his head, “Again, don’t thank me. Goodnight, y/n.”
You whispered a quiet goodnight as he closed the door behind him.
You stumbled to change into the clothes and threw your clothes onto the chair. Climbing into his bed, you got comfortable.
Had his cologne always smelt this good?
You laid there until you fell asleep, the last words of the song drifting you off to sleep.
And one thing I’ve found, is love is what you deserve.

Safe Haven
Intro to an arcane x naruto fic where Kakashi trips into the arcane universe at various points in his life. It won’t make it’s way to Ao3 anytime soon since I have three on going stories but I’m writing as and when the desire to write hits. Warning: I know nothing of league and any context or world building is made up and guessed at.
Intermixed with water dripping from stalactites, the sniffling almost went unheard.
Not to Victor, his ears were too keen. Nothing compared to the some vastaya, but honed by necessity when traversing water logged caves inhabited by beasts which fancied him a light snack and little critters all too eager to bite. Rushing water was also important to listen out for, children and oftentimes adults lost their lives in the mines to changing tides. Better still was to track the tide, as Victor did, but one must always expect anomalies even if they couldn’t be anticipated.
So the sniffling bouncing quietly against the uneven rock walls did not go unnoticed by Victor and prodded him to stumble deeper into the mineral-stripped mine. He didn’t make a habit of his excursions, the kind lady they called ‘mother’ always said to take as much sun to the face as possible. And his constitution hardly called for regular hiking.
But the best scraps were carried downstream, and downstream would take him either to the sea or the caves, and he preferred traversing the slippery rocks over drowning.
A turn around the bend led him to a dark canvas burnt through by a small fire. It was a wonder such a fire could exist down here, the damp conditions made it difficult to start while the gases made it impossible to control.
Illuminated by the flames was the small figure of a boy maybe four or five years younger than Victor, curled up on himself and crying into his knees. His hair must have been pale as the fire washed it with a brilliant ombré of red and yellow.
“Hello,” Victor ventured and took two firm but shuttering steps into the darkness and the boy vanished.
He blinked, and blinked again, but the boy did not reappear, and then the fire snuffed itself out as though it had never been there in the first place. But if Victor could trust anything in a world such as this, it was his mind. It did not readily deceive him.
“I’m sorry if I scared you,” he said to the darkness. “I heard you crying and… the mines aren’t safe.”
Long seconds of silence passed, only the tinkling of water and his own breath reaching his ears. Perhaps he should be scared, fear was a life saving response many species felt in circumstances like this. Deprived of his senses, dealing with unknown variables… But fear had never come naturally to Victor. Curiosity always won out.
“I wasn’t crying,” the darkness said, viciously. “Shinobi don’t cry.”
“But I saw you crying, you were right there.” He waved vaguely in the direction of the unlit fire. Could the boy see him in the dark like this? Would the gesture be lost to him? Victor didn’t know, but it didn’t hurt to try anyway.
The darkness did not respond, yet he felt it’s irritation all the same.
“How did you control that fire?” He asked and hoped the darkness would respond, it seemed like an impossible feat and Victor drew close to the impossible like a moth to flame.
He didn’t expect his inquiry to be met with an answer, but then a bright spark lit up his vision and a small fire birthed itself a scant metre in front of him.
Edging out of the darkness, he could make out the panes of the boy’s face, half of it masked, and his crouched knees. Victor followed suit and sat down, which his aching leg thanked him for as it got some rest.
“Like that,” the boy said with an implied ‘duh’ and Victor frowned. The tone was unsettling, he was unused to being talked to as though he was lacking intellectually. Being talked to the way adults always did to people of his age didn’t have the same effect on him because it held more bearing on how he looked, not what was going on inside his head. This was different, his sense of self was being challenged.
“What did you use as a fuel? I didn’t see an ignition, what tool did you use as a fire starter? I don’t see any tinder or anything to sustain the flame. And how are you preventing the gas from setting the whole cave alight?” He asked as he planted his hands on the floor and leant his face close to the fire, feeling the warmth against his cave-cold skin and nearly searing his eyes with the light.
“I didn’t do any of that,” the boy said and Victor reeled back in confusion. “Normally I need some wood or something, but you can just use chakra when you don’t but that’s stupid because it keeps using chakra and I’d just run out because I don’t have a lot - yet. I will, when I grow up. But the air is funny in here so I’m letting it use that, but not too much because I want a small fire.”
“Chakra?” Victor asked and raced to puzzle out the answer before the boy could respond. He’d never heard of chakra before but it sounded like some sort of combination of a fuel and a lighter, able to set alight to tinder or be used in the place of tinder. But the source of this - energy? The source of it was something the boy possessed, something that would increase in supply with age…
“You’ve never heard of chakra? But even civilians know about chakra. That’s so weird.”
“… Magic. Is chakra magic?” Magic was… there were no mages in Piltover, bottom or top. Victor knew hardly anything about it, other than it achieved the impossible. His eyes lit up from more than fire light as he looked between the flames and the boy.
“I don’t know what ‘magic’ is,” the boy said, and seemed upset at the dearth of knowledge. Victor could relate.
“Where are you from?” He asked and felt a little vindication at having the chance to leave the boy without a sufficient explanation. Everyone knew what magic was, even if they had never witnessed it like Victor. But so did everyone know about chakra, apparently, although he knew they didn’t.
“Konoha. I think I’m… far away from there now, though. You look weird and you don’t know chakra.”
Weird wasn’t the worst descriptor someone had attributed to Victor’s appearance before, he took it in stride. “I think you’re right. But, then, how did you get to Piltover?”
The boy almost completely retreated to the darkness as he wrapped his arms around his knees like he had earlier, the black lapping at his features like the slight waves of a shallow lake as he rocked gently back and forth. When his eyes came into focus with each rock forwards, they glistened.
“I just… wanted to get away,” he breathed.
“There are better places to get away to than the mines,” Victor said, unsure if he was telling the truth, and held out a hand.

Trouble
————
You’d been re-reading the letter Naruto wrote you for weeks, and even then, the ache that had settled deep in your bones never once disappeared fully. You missed him so much it hurt. You weren’t easily distractable, but spending time with Kakashi was something you’d grown rather used to. With each dinner, followed by him taking you to bed, your world became a little less dim. He lessened the lonely ache, sure it was never gone, and you hated that you were the one with separation anxiety, but you just couldn’t help it.
The times Kakashi was on a mission had to have been the worst, with no distraction, your mind began to wander.. and that truly was your nightmare. You began to wonder exactly what you were doing. Were you and Kakashi an item? Did you mind that you spent every moment you weren’t working with him? Your mind also wandered to darker places, what would happen if Naruto got hurt? Oh god.. would you be able to see him? Would you even know? It was the worst case scenario, but that didn’t seem to matter. Your brain was awful.
Kakashi had made a point for you to know that you were truly never alone, he had “friends” and he made sure that they all knew who you were. Slowly, you grew accustomed to being stopped by Asuma, you also grew accustomed to Might Guy jogging slowly, but also with an urgency next to your side as you walked to work. You’d never tell Kakashi, but you did appreciate what he was trying to do. It didn’t work the way he thought it might, but still, you liked the simple conversation Asuma provided.. and you also liked not having to walk to work alone anymore..
————
You were settled in for the night, rice boiling on your stove. You’d thought briefly about stopping somewhere to eat, but after the shit day you’d had, the couch was calling your name, and that’s exactly where you planned to spend the rest of your night.
You’d settled down to the smell of the spices you’d used on dinner, and the sound of Naruto’s favorite show on the television. You had been spacing in and out, as you had already seen this episode more times than you could count. In fact, you were absolutely sure you could have quoted it word for word if you tried hard enough.
You hadn’t expected the low knock on your door, and you certainly didn’t expect to be met with silver hair, and a dark eye. Your mouth parted, and you spoke to him softly, “You’re back early.” He gave you a short nod, head tilting in a teasing manor, “I just couldn’t stay away.” Your head tilted in the same direction, expression mocking his, “Oh.. I’ll bet you couldn’t..”
————
You watched him eat slowly, something kindred to fondness in your eyes. You truly had missed him, but you’d never tell him that either. Kakashi was perched on the far side of your couch, telling you the small details of his mission that he could, and the sudden, overwhelming urge to kiss him melted low in your stomach. You were suddenly nauseous, mind racing.. Oh god, did you truly want him.. for good?
Kakashi picked up on the cue that you weren’t listening anymore, and he scooched closer to you, leaning to place his and your bowl on the table in front of your couch, before his hand began to brush the length of your thigh. It seemed to knock you out of your thoughts, and your gaze pulled back to his face, another wave of fondness, followed by nausea rushing through you. Kakashi spoke to you softly, “Are you.. okay?” You paused, mouth suddenly dry, throat constricting painfully, “What.. what are we doing?”
The look in his eyes changed to something that was almost longing, but after he blinked, the emotion was gone, “We’re doing whatever you want..” Your throat felt as if you were swallowing glass, the low ache of loneliness rearing it’s head again, “W-what if I don’t know what I want?” He seemed lost in his own thoughts, mouth parting again, “I can’t tell you what you want..” Your throat constricted again, “What do you want?”
You could see him swallow hesitantly, and for the first time since you’d know Kakashi Hatake.. he looked nervous. You pulled yourself closer to him, settling overtop his lap, thighs on either side of his legs. You leaned, mouth pressing against his, as his hands caught your hips. The kiss was something different, something new. He’d never kissed you like this before. They’d always been rushed, or half-assed.
You didn’t think anyone had ever kissed you like this, and god.. you don’t think you’d ever felt as wanted as you did in that moment.. it was nice. Kakashi held you like you’d shatter into pieces if he applied too much pressure, mouth pressing against yours in a way that sent tingles down your spine. It was all different this time, you’d realized when he laid you down on the couch with a gentleness you never knew he was capable of. His hands wandered every part of you with delicate touches, his mouth following quickly behind.
You, of course, returned the attention he’d given you, your own hands trailing the bare skin he’d bore to you, mouth falling along every inch and curve of his body, all the scars and all the hurt.. you wanted to kiss it away.. you planned on kissing it away. The soft touches and caresses soon turned into something more heated, but even then, Kakashi planned on taking his time with you.
Even the first press of his cock into you felt different. This was all so different.. territory you hadn’t dared to wander into. He kissed you like he’d never get the chance to again, he kissed you like you were the only thing that mattered, and in that very moment you were. Even when he breached deeper into your walls, fully bottoming out, his mouth never stopped working against yours. The feeling of him pressed snugly against you had your toes curling in no time, mouth parting in a desperate moan of his name, and in return, he sighed yours gently, hands moving to rub at the peak of your breasts. You were collapsing, fire burning you from the inside out, and you couldn’t help it. You couldn’t help the desperate rock of your hips into his, and when his pace increased slightly, his mouth opening in a, “Shit..” You couldn’t help the pulse of your walls, he just felt so good.
You were falling, breath catching deep in your throat, it was all so different this time. Even the look in his eyes, smoldering, he was burning too. You came with his name on your tongue, your vision blurry. He followed suit with a moan of your name, and when the dust had settled, and he held you as gently as he had before, you knew things were different this time.
Your world was a little less lonely when he was around, and as you looked up at the curve of his jaw, the line of his lips, you could feel your chest contract in an almost painful way. You figured that it wasn’t so bad to find comfort in him. This time, you accepted the wave of fondness that washed through your bones. Your bare body shifted against his, straining to not roll off the couch, and you pressed a feather light kiss against his mouth.
He knew what it meant. You both did. You wanted each other.. for good.

fic: of sorrows and brighter tomorrows
aka the FFXV x Naruto crossover with Kakashi reborn as Ravus
Ravus Nox Fleuret is born in the middle of the worst storm Tenebrae has ever seen, just past midnight. He is born backlit only by the flash of lightning outside the window - a healthy babe screaming his lungs out - in the midst of a storm-caused blackout. Ravus Nox Fleuret is born, but here is the thing:
This is not his first time.
Sylva holds her first born child in her arms. He is strong - his little heart beats fast but well - and he grips her finger with surprising strength. By all rights, he is safe, healthy, and perfect, but when her hands touch his bare skin, she can hear the faintest echoes of screams and chaos and battle, and she weeps.
She weeps for her country, for the world she has borne a son into, for his future.
She weeps for his past, although she does not know it.
In the distance, beyond the walls of the manor, Magitek infantry march on Tenebrae land, keeping citizens cowed.
Safe within the walls of the Fenestala Manor, Ravus opens his eyes and gazes at this new world to which he has entered. His nursemaids coo over his blue eyes and grumpy frown and soft cheeks.
His mother looks into his eyes and knows they are too old. She holds him close and speaks to him softly, and in the darkest of the night, when she believes he is asleep, she prays to the gods for his future, safety, and happiness. When he is old enough, Kakashi - Ravus - man - child - soldier - prince - son will stare at her kneeling figure from the shadows of the open door with dark eyes. He doesn't know how to tell her that he has long lost faith in the gods.
