kakashi had concluded in his adult life that he would never have children of his own. with growing up never knowing his mom and ending up losing his dad at such a young age. he knew he would never want to bring a child into this world to endure the same pain he still held in his heart.
he was turning thirty-two this year. although it was only spring time and his birthday wasn’t for another few months, it weighed on his shoulders slightly. those his age were married, having children. hell, even his students were starting their families.
yet every night upon returning alone to his small bachelor apartment, he relentlessly attempted to convince himself that he was content in life. that nothing was missing.
it was one day, when the cherry blossoms were at their full blossom, that he made his way through the marketplace in konoha. his eyes were glued to the book in front of him. a hand stuck out in front of his face, waving back and forth. “excuse me sir, i believe you dropped this!”
like honey, he had thought. that’s what your voice sounded like to him. enticing and sweet. as he lowered his book, questioning what he possibly could have dropped, your face came into his eye sight.
his eyes widened and eyebrows raised slightly as he took in your glowing form. a bright smile adorned your lips, a floppy sun hat laid on your head, and the prettiest blue sun dress hugged your body in all the right places. he was completely enamoured. he swallowed, realizing that his mouth had become dry, before speaking.
“dropped what, sorry?” he forced out.
you held out your arms, a bouquet of bright flowers held in your hands. he looked into your eyes questioningly, only to see your eyes twinkle.
“they’re freesia’s!” you had said to him, “you look like you’re in need of something to brighten your day. take them, they’re all yours!”
through pink cheeks he had thanked you, and continued on with his day. that night, as he stared at the vase he had bought for the flowers, he couldn’t keep his mind from wondering off the image of your smiling face.
for weeks in between scarce missions and visits with the hokage, he found himself subconsciously walking through the market again, secretly hoping he would run into you again.
it proved to be useless, as he continued being disappointed. he didn’t even know your name, a civilian he had run into by pure luck that had caught his eye. eventually, he gave up attempting to seek you out.
it was one day, after a particularly mind-numbing day, that lady-luck decided to favour kakashi. he was walking back from a visit at the memorial stone of those he had lost. out of the corner of his eye he saw blue. not just any blue, but the blue belonging to that stunning dress he had seen you in weeks ago.
he stopped in his tracks and whipped his head around. it was you, in that same dress, as beautiful as the day you had pushed flowers in front of him. the same flowers that now sat wilting on his windowsill. he knew this was his one chance, and for some reason his heart strings tugged him in your direction. “hey miss!”
it was these moments that kakashi would later on define as the beginning of the end for him. as the two of you began going on dates and spending time together more frequently.
he found himself even more enamoured by you, learning about your life, your worries, your likes, and your dislikes. truly, it was all so mundane in comparison to the troubles and tribulations that bounced within his skull. but it was so refreshing to him, to speak to someone and forget that once the two of you parted he would be back to his shinobi world.
kakashi fell for you slowly, reluctant to open himself up to someone so pure and kind-hearted in comparison to his blood stained past. this was better than his icha-icha novels that he loved so dearly. he was scared, to lose you as he opened about his past to you.
but when your soft hands cupped his face after he finished speaking, reassuring him, he knew that he has fallen deeply and utterly in love with you.
it was you who had made the first move, after months of pining after one another. the two of you stood outside your front door, bidding each other goodnight after kakashi had walked you home.
“can i try something ‘kashi?” kakashi was sure that through the silence of the night you could hear how loud he gulped.
“yes.” he whispered, scared his voice would give away how badly he was shaking in anticipation for whatever you were about to do.
your delicate fingers slowly pulled down his mask, giving him the chance to stop you if he wished to. when his mask was dropped around his neck, your kind eyes flickered back and forth. taking in every detail of his face.
as kakashi began doubting himself, you were right there to catch him beforehand. “kakashi…” you said airily, “you’re so beautiful.”
as your lips met for the first time, kakashi realized that his books did no justice to this feeling. the feeling of your lips on him caused a weight to fall off his shoulders, and butterflies to erupt not only in his stomach but out into his entire chest cavity.
as seasons changed in konoha and the new year began, the two of you were moving steadily. kakashi’s things had slowly began appearing in your apartment, what started with his toothbrush had quickly turned into your home being littered with his things. you harboured no complaints. as kakashi spent more time in your apartment weekly, you danced around offering for the two of you to move in together. nervous of scaring off your now boyfriend. eventually kakashi announced that he was selling his apartment, which was his way of telling you that he was moving in.
over a year after the two of you getting together, his thirty-third birthday came rolling around. kakashi had woken up to an empty apartment. a note stuck out on the kitchen counter, alerting him that you had gone to work and that you would be home around 6. although he was never a fan of getting older, it stung him a hit that there was no mention of you wishing him a happy birthday.
he shuffled around all day in the apartment, having the day off. his eyes flickered to the clock every few minutes, counting down until you would be home. maybe you had just forgotten this morning.
when you returned home, you smiled at kakashi upon entering. your eyes trailed down at his loungewear and you frowned. “want to go get ready kashi? it’s monday, it’s our weekly date night and I am starving!”
‘so she really did forget it was my birthday…’ he mused.
he silently entered your shared room, changing into street clothes and leaving to meet you at the front door. he felt his heart skip a beat as he saw you in that damn dress. the one he saw you wear all that time ago. that blue dress. his thoughts silences as you smiled up at him. and as you intertwined your fingers together, he too forgot it was his birthday.
except you hadn’t. he fell into your trap as the two of you walked into a barbecue restaurant and you led him to a booth filled with his comrades and friends.
you had turned around and chanted “happy birthday kakashi!” along with the rest of the shinobi sat in the booths.
his cheeks turned pink at the attention as he scratched the back of his neck, “mahh— you guys didn’t have to do all this, thank you.”
as you slid in next to him in the booth, you began to profusely apologize about pretending to ignore his birthday all day, thinking it would ruin the surprise. all was forgiven to him, he knew inside it was something you would not have forgotten. since when did he start caring about birthdays anyway?
later on, after enjoying a meal alongside everyone, kakashi floated around mingling. eventually he ended up next to his two closest friends; gai and asuma.
barely tuning into what gai and asuma were chatting about next to him, he watched you from across the room. a wide smile adoring your lips, that not only lit up the room, but his entire life. on one hip you balanced kurenai and asuma’s child, mirai. feeling like someone was watching you, you glanced over your shoulder and smiled reassuringly at kakashi, blowing a kiss his way.
he felt his lungs stop functioning, his entire world stopped spinning and paused. his eyes played tricks on him, imaging you balancing a child on your hip that had white hair and your eyes.
gai and asuma trailed off in their conversation as they both eyed kakashi’s line of vision. they looked back at each other and chuckled to themselves.
“you okay over there kakashi?” gai spoke loudly, clapping a hand down on kakashi’s shoulder.
kakashi snapped out of his daze, blinking rapidly. “sorry?”
asuma laughed again, “you know, i swore to myself for years that i never wanted to start a family. especially as the years went on, watching my friends around me lose their parents. and then i lost my dad.” he paused, thinking. “but when kurenai told me she was pregnant, my whole perspective changed. now every night that we put mirai to bed, i wouldn’t change a thing.”
later that night, you could barely get kakashi through the door of your apartment without him ripping all your clothes off on the way up the stairs. eventually you had made it inside, shutting the door before being pressed up against it by kakashi.
you giggled as he parted his lips from yours, leaving a trail of wet sloppy kisses down the side of your neck. his tongue trailed a path up and down as he found your sensitive spot, making a moan slip through your swollen lips.
“what’s gotten into you tonight kashi?”
he stopped his ministrations on your neck and ground his hard cock up against your body. leaning towards your ear he whispered, “just need you so badly baby, been craving that sweet pussy all day.”
his wet lips engulfed yours once again, hands curling up into your hair. his thigh nudged itself between your legs, pressing up in between your legs. you whimpered into his mouth, the dress you wore rode upwards as your panties met his pant-clad leg. rocking your hips, causing your sensitive clit to receive some much needed friction.
kakashi pulled back, leaning his forehead against yours as he pressed his thigh up more into your soaking middle. “that’s right baby, fuck yourself on my thigh.”
his large hands trailed down and grabbed your hips, helping you rock back and forth on his thigh faster. moans and whimpers left your lips as your head fell onto his shoulder, unable to keep it up. “keep going, not going to give you this cock until you cum on my thigh.”
“k-kashi—” cutting you off, he crashed his lips down on yours again. letting his tongue slip in and tangle with yours, he continued rocking you towards your first orgasm of the night.
your hips began to stutter as your orgasm approached quickly. “mm— kakashi! gonna cum.” you babbled into his mouth.
“cum for me princess, and i’ll fill you up as a reward for being such a good girl.” he watched as your hips stuttered one last time before your orgasm crashed down on you. your hands gripped onto his shoulders tightly, throwing your head back against the door.
“that’s it, just like that. you look so pretty when you come undone, even prettier when it’s on my cock.” you moaned in post-orgasm bliss at his dirty words.
his hands wrapped around your bare thighs, picking you up effortlessly and carrying you down the hall into your bedroom. he set you down right before the bed. you raised your arms as he tugged your dress over your head, his clothes following suit.
your knees met the ground as you ran your hands up and down kakashi’s built thighs. your eyes met his as one of your hands began lazily pumping his hard cock. the tip was red and angry, pleading for release. precum dripped out from between the slit, you lolled your tongue out, flicking it along the slit to clean up.
his eyes tightly closed as he groaned when your wet lips wrapped themselves around the head of his cock. he grasped your hair with one hand to pull it back from your face. slowly bobbing your head, your hand twisting and pumping what you couldn’t fit inside your mouth.
you hollowed your cheeks out before deep throating his well endowed member. tears sprung to the corners of your eyes as you lightly choked. he pulled your head back, making you release his cock from your mouth with a ‘pop’ sound.
your teary eyes looked up to his flushed face, questioningly. “can’t have you keep going or else i’m going to cum in that pretty mouth of yours.”
helping you up onto your feet, his lips crashed down on yours once again, backing you up onto the bed. once you were laid down, legs dangling off the edge. kakashi broke the kiss and began leaving sloppy kisses down your body all the way to the hem of your lace underwear.
his mouth hovered over your wet mound as you whimpered, feeling his hot breath through your underwear. “please kakashi—“
he chuckled, fingers playing with the hem of your undies. “please what, princess? use your words.”
“touch me, touch my pussy please.”
he hummed, wasting no time by sliding your underwear off and trailing his tongue up your slit.
“mm— you taste so fucking good. sweet like honey.” he said before diving in and flicking his tongue violently against your clit. your legs immediately clamping down on either side of his head as your fingers fisted tightly in his light grey hair.
his long and dexterous index finger ran up and down your slit, as his tongue and lips continued sucking and licking on your clit. slowly and lazily he pumped his finger inside your pulsating hole. loud and breathy moans left your lips as your hips began thrashing around at their own accord. kakashi added another finger and began curling them upwards, finding that sweet spot inside of you only he could find. kakashi’s hips rocked against the edge of the bed, needing the friction against his member.
as your second orgasm began building up, kakashi stopped his assault on your pussy, causing you to whimper. “i-i’m so close!”
“wanna have you cum on my cock.” he rose up from between your legs as you slid yourself higher up on the bed, kakashi crawling overtop of you. his face still wet with your juices as his lips captured yours once again, tangling his tongue with yours so you could taste yourself on him.
leaning back, he pushed your legs up, bending them at the knees. you watched through half-lidded eyes as he dragged his thick dick up and down your dripping pussy. the rubbing of his head on your clit enough to drive you mad as you began begging him once again.
slowly, he slid it into your hot and tight pussy and pressing his body into yours. slowly, he began thrusting as deep as he possibly could, before dragging it back almost all the way out.
you gasped, “a-ah! kakashi, you forgot the– the condom!”
“gonna fuck a baby in you.” he breathed hotly in your ear.
your face flushed even darker, if that were even possible. kakashi had never said such a thing to you. he had said once at the beginning of your relationship that he had never wanted children due to his painful upbringing. every time the two of you were intimate he was sure to wear protection. however, unbeknownst to you, you had opened his heart to options he had thought impossible for himself.
“fuck yes— ah… kashi—“ he continued, beginning to relentlessly pound into your tired and spent pussy. your juices coating his inner thighs and the bed sheets below you.
“want to see you swollen with my baby, won’t stop fucking you every night until you are.” you moaned wantonly, feeling yourself clench around his unforgiving pace inside you. “g-god i can feel you tightening up when i say that. you’d like that wouldn’t you? want me to fuck my cum in you and breed you?”
his thumb had found its way between the two of you, rubbing your clit harshly.
“y-yes daddy! want to— god i want it s-so bad. please, please, please—”
you felt your toes curling as you threw your head back, orgasm washing over you suddenly and so violently that you saw stars through your closed eyelids. kakashi wasn’t far behind you, not with the way your pussy was gripping him so tightly and—
“—hah” kakashi let out a long moan as he pushed as deep as possible, coating your cervix with white spurts of hot cum. his chest heaved as he continued lightly thrusting deeply, thighs twitching from sensitivity.
his sweat covered forehead fell against yours as the two of you breathed heavily. minutes passed before he slowly lifted himself and slid his half-hard cock out from you.
he flopped onto his back beside you, staring up at the ceiling. post-orgasm clarity beginning to wash through you, doubt and nerves began creeping up your throat.
“do you regret that? we can always go to the store and get some plan-b, i-i, if that doesn’t work we can always—”
“i don’t regret it.” he cut you off, “i want to start a family with you.”
he laughed airily, turning on his side to tuck a strand of hair behind your ear. “you make me want things i never thought would be possible for me. i love you.”
you smiled, “well i hope they get your hair and your perfect face.”

a/n: this is based on this prompt made by @whygodohgodwhy. hope you guys enjoy.
pairing: kakashi x reader warning: swearing and fluff.
It's been a few hours since you gave birth after going through a great struggle. You were sweating out. You were breastfeeding your daughter while the nurse entered the room. Kakashi was sitting beside your bed quietly.
“Sir, can you wait outside for a few minutes? I have to clean up the mother and the baby.” the nurse said.
“Few minutes? That's too long.”
“Kakashi calm down and just wait a few minutes outside.” you said.
“I can’t leave her. What if I give her abandonment issues?”
“She is not even old enough to support her own head, you won’t give her any issues by leaving the room for five minutes. At this age, she may not even notice.”
“She will. I did.”
“I say this as someone who loves you with my whole heart - your multiple issues were not caused, in any way, by your parents leaving you alone for short periods in the first few weeks of your life. They were caused by what they did in the lengthy periods of the rest of your life.”
“But still I ain't leaving this room.”
“Kakashi, I'm gonna kick your ass right now. If you don't leave right now.” you said, glaring at him.
“Darling, please let me just stay here by her side and yours.”
“Can you hold the baby for a sec.” you said and handed her to the nurse. You struggled and got off the bed.
“Mam, you need to stay in bed…” the nurse started but shutted up when she saw you glaring.
You turned to Kakashi, who stood there like an innocent boy. You grabbed him by his ears and dragged him.
“Darling darling please.” he pleaded
“Shut the fuck up.”
You kicked him out of the room.
“Stay there for a while.” you said and closed the door.
You turned to the nurse and said, “we may proceed now.”

😤: a jealousy headcanon - kakashi
Tumblr media
kakashi takes pride in not being jealous. he’s usually rational and never lets his emotions get the best of him – even when and if he feels jealous, for whatever reason, he’s strong enough not to do anything about it;
there are a few times he can’t be much rational, though, and of course, they all involve you;
it was ridiculous, because you two weren’t dating, and you were nothing but friends — no, not even that; you were simple colleagues, acquaintances or whatever. and that was the reason you were so damn angry all the time. because you had all that energy, all that longing for him and nowhere to put it. your whole body aching to be close to him, and you having to deal with seeing him every day without throwing yourself at him, and it's been like that for years now;
you felt like a teenager to be honest, with the stares from across the room, the lingering touches, the racy heart when his name was mentioned — and he had to know. he had to. and he did. and that’s where the problem lived.
kakashi liked you. he cared deeply about you, you were his first thought in the morning and last thought at night, and he wasn’t stupid or oblivious, he had noticed how you blushed whenever you two talked, how you laughed harder trying to get his attention when you were in the same room, and the way your eyes were always on him when you thought he couldn’t see you – he knew, and he wished he could do something about it, but he couldn’t.
you see, kakashi had lost everyone he had ever cared for, and he knew that the destiny of the people that he let in wasn’t good – they either ended up dead or hurt, and it was unfair to put someone through that when he could easily prevent that from happening.
kakashi knew you deserved better – you were too lovely to be stuck with someone like him. you lit up any room you entered, lightened up the mood, made everyone feel at ease, no matter what they were going through, and he was no exception to that power of yours. he cherished you, loved being around you. you were like this giant ball of sunshine, warmth and happiness, and it was impossible to feel unhappy around you. but he knew you deserved better. you deserved an actual chance at being happy, so he’d keep the distance and only enjoy your presence by far.
what he didn’t know, of course, was that you had no interest in anyone else whatsoever – and who was to blame you? who was better than the freaking copynin? no one. that’s why you had your mind set on proving he was the one you wanted.
you knew why he was reluctant; it was obvious, and it broke your heart to know that he felt this way, but that only made you feel more determined. you weren’t lucky, but you sure was fierce, and you knew he had to like you, at least a little tiny tiny bit, you felt it! and yes, you could be wrong, but sometimes life is about taking risks.
it was at a party that it all went down. anko’s birthday party.
people drinking, singing, dancing, loud music, colorful lights and probably more people than the place could and should fit. it seemed like everyone was there; not a single soul was missing – even kakashi was there. you knew he probably came with gai and he would stay for about ten minutes and then leave when he thought no one else was paying attention, as usual. but maybe tonight could go a little different;
you were wearing a little tiny red dress you had bought with kurenai two weeks ago for this exact party, your head straight into the mission of making it impossible for kakashi to take his eyes off of you — and from the way you saw him looking at you the second you walked through the door, mission accomplished;
you wanted to talk to him, but didn’t want to seem too desperate, and you didn’t know how long you were supposed to wait before approaching him casually and ask about his day and if he was enjoying the party, but you figured a few minutes should do.
so you would see who was around, drink something, recognize which song was playing, maybe watch him from the corner where you were pretty sure he couldn’t see you... and then someone popped into your field of vision and touched your arm. “hey, beautiful”.
you replied with a polite smile and the man invited you to dance – you figured there was no harm in dancing a little, in fact it would be better, giving you a little more time to stay away from kakashi and then act like you didn’t come to the party because of him only. i mean, happy birthday anko and all, sure, but let’s be real.
so you followed the man to the dance floor with a careful smile never leaving your face, then it all happened at once, but in slow motion at the same time – the man placed his hands on your hips and pulled you close, almost too close in your opinion, but he was harmless, you thought. you moved your hips to the beat of the song when you felt his left hand snaking through your body, and then there was another hand circling your wrist and pulling you away from that man’s grip. “sorry, i need to talk to her, it’s urgent” kakashi excused himself while the man nodded;
kakashi held your hand firmly as you walked through the sea of people and headed to the back of the club, away from the noise, ending up in the parking lot.
“is everything okay?” you asked, alarmed by his unusual acting
“yeah, just... give me a second.”
you remained silent, even though there were a million questions bubbling on your mind – and about half of them started with “will you please kiss me?”.
kakashi’s eyes wandered through the whole parking lot before stopping on you, and he watched you carefully as he said “i’m sorry”.
you had no idea why he was apologizing, but you started to say your automatic response to the words ‘i’m sorry’, which were “no, it’s okay, don’t worry about it.” you regretted the words the second they left your lips, because now you missed the chance to ask what he was sorry for.
but none of you moved. instead, you stayed there, staring at each other, in that awkward silence filled by the distant sounds that came from the club.
“a-are you okay?” you asked again, finally breaking the unbearable silence.
“i should be, right?”
“oh, kashi, what’s wrong?” there was authentic concern in your voice, enough to make kakashi feel even worse.
he shook his head. “i pulled you away from him, and i was filled with this urge, as if i had any right to- and i didn’t. i don’t. i’m sorry.”
“no, it’s okay, don’t worry ab... wait, i’m sorry, what?”
“you see, i can handle a lot, but seeing someone else’s hands all over your body isn’t on the list. and the way he was looking at you, and this damn dress, and i just..." he took a deep breath before continuing, "i’m sorry, ok? let’s just go back inside. i didn’t mean to ruin the party for you”
“wait” you open a smile at the sudden realization. “you were jealous.”
kakashi snorted, clearly uncomfortable with the situation.
“you were, weren’t you?”
“yes. now let’s go back inside.”
“why? so i can dance with other men and have their hands all over my body until you pull me back to this parking lot?”
“that’s not happening again, i already said i’m sorry.”
“no, it’s okay, don’t worry abo- damn it!!”
you heard Kakashi chuckle and that put a big smile on your face.
“i don’t want to go back inside.”
kakashi closed his eyes, realizing he now would have to deal with the consequences of his own actions. if he could go back in time, he would have left the party the second you passed through the front door with that ridiculously sexy dress. there would be no trouble. he wouldn’t have seen that man’s hands on your body, he wouldn’t have pulled you away, he wouldn’t be with you in this parking lot now, admitting to you he was jealous while you had too much fun with the fact and he fought the urge to have his own hands all over your body. now he had to convince you to go back to the party and completely avoid you for the rest of his life because now you knew he had feelings for you. fuck.
“it’s your call, but i think anko might be missing your presence.” he tried.
“uh, i highly doubt that. but even if it were true, i’d rather be here with you.”
kakashi sighed.
“look,” you touched his hand to get his attention “i know you’re probably struggling internally right now because you want me to go away and i don’t want to go away – also, i will not go away -, and i know you feel guilty and cursed because of what happened in the past, but-"
“please-”
“i was there!" you interrupted him before he could start his 'go away' speech. "i was there and i saw you! it was impossible to get to you. it still is! i’ve been trying for forever to reach you! and you can’t tell me to get lost or that i don’t know anything, because i. was. there. and i’m not just some random girl. i saw you. i see you.”
he tried to say something, but there was nothing in his mind that fit the situation. he spent years pushing people away, to the point everyone developed a new dynamic to interact with him, and they were all used to it. kakashi was never around much; kakashi was always on missions; kakashi was always reading something instead of talking to people. and no one ever said anything about it, not even gai. and it wasn’t because they didn’t care, but it was because kakashi vanished at the slightest mention of his past. but when you said it, it wasn’t like that. it made him feel cared for, a feeling he thought he’d never feel again.
“it wasn’t your fault. and you deserve love. you deserve it, damn it!”
you were looking into his eye, and for the first time in forever, kakashi felt seen. it was like you could see everything that was in his soul and more. and you had never looked so beautiful. so, before he had time to think and regret, he pulled his mask down and kissed you with all the yearning and aching he had been holding, like you were the answer to all of his problems, the light he didn’t know he had been longing for. and he didn’t stop, not when you smiled and unwillingly broke the kiss, and definitely not when you let out a little moan and ran your fingers through his hair, pulling him closer while you stood on your tiptoes.
“wow!” you blurted, the biggest smile on your face when he finally broke the kiss, only so you two could get some air.
kakashi didn’t let go of you; his hands were still holding you in place by the waist, forehead resting against yours, his breath mixing with yours. he wouldn’t let you go. now that he finally had you, he wouldn’t let you go.
“i hadn’t seen this handsome face in a long time…” you cupped his face, and he leaned in at the touch. “hi.”
“hi.” he smiled, like he was greeting a very old friend, which he was in fact. it had been easy to forget how close you two were in the past, before it all happened, before he shut down.
you kissed him again, just to make sure he was really there, and he was – there, kissing you back. it was like a dream, like one of the many you’ve had before. you’d be so pissed if you’d wake up in half an hour alone in bed, with only the memory of the dream to get you through the day.
“so, um, i guess we should go back inside now. i think someone probably noticed we both have disappeared...” you said as you reached his hand with yours, intertwining your fingers, ready to walk back to the club.
“i don’t know how to put this in a polite way, but i don’t give a shit.”
his words caught you off guard and you laughed harder than you should’ve.
“no, you don’t understand, mr. hatake” you continued, “i still have to dance with at least three other men.”
his grip on your waist got tighter.
“i don’t want to be this kind of guy, but i don’t care if you promised to dance with three other men or with the hokage himself, you’re not going.”
“oh, no, but it’s very important!” you pleaded, trying to hold a laugh. “please!”
“y/n, what’s going on?”
“nothing, it’s just that since you were jealous and we’ve established that you now have, in fact, the right to do whatever you feel like… i was just wondering what would your jealous self do to me this time, if you caught me in another man's arms...” you bit your lower lip, looking up at him from behind your lashes.
kakashi let out a crooked smile as he pulled you even closer. "i have a pretty good idea how that would go."
guess you were about to find out.

"Don't run."
Your eyes were wide as you backed a safe distance away from Kakashi. He sat up, paying no mind to his already bruising neck and kicking your knife to the opposite side of the room.
You hadn't meant to drop it. You were so stupid to slip up like that, but your mind was racing. Your heart was pounding, and your body hadn't responded correctly to your fear. You'd relaxed almost on instinct at the familiar touch on your cheek. A turmoil of emotions and what had to be false memories were clashing with the rage festering in your mind, and Kakashi was the cause of it. You needed to get away from him
You needed to get out.
"Wait," Kakashi said when he saw the sudden resolve overtake your clouded gaze. He got back on his feet slowly, though his eyes were wide as he watched your movements carefully. He looked frantic. Scared, even. "Wait here, and I'll go get Ino–"
"Shut up," you spit, considering the exits on either side of you and wondering if it was worth it to try and fight past him to the door at his back.
That's the side closest to the main exit.
Your head was splitting. You pictured the man who had tortured you and tried to reconcile the image of his sadistic grin and cold eyes with the one standing in front of you. They were supposed to be the same person. They were the same person.
You couldn't breath. You needed to get out of this room. You needed to run until you couldn't move.
He must've seen it on your face the moment you decided to turn on your heel and bolt towards the door behind you. The moment you turned away from him, you heard him turn in the opposite direction to intercept you at the exit.
The windows on this floor open from the inside.
Your body was moving before your mind had time to catch up with it. Your feet carried you down halls and past rooms that you didn't recognize despite how easily you seemed to be navigating them. Your mind easily supplied you with directions as you ran through corriders and dimly lit hallways towards an unknown destination.
When you finally stopped in front of a closed door, something like awareness tugged at your mind. It shouted and screamed and made the ache in your skull grow worse until you finally shut it out with a shake of your head.
You pushed the door open and strode through the room, ignoring the unmade bed and full bookshelf and picture frames on your way to the door of the balcony on the far wall. It was cracked open, letting in a cool breeze that pushed the curtains into the room and made the fresh air mix with the distinct, pleasant scent of the room.
The air was choking you. Familiarity pushed past the barriers you'd surrounded your mind with and began shouting at you once again. It begged and pleaded with you to stop for just a moment. It told you to think about why the smell of this room was so naturally comforting, or how you'd so easily navigated the building and found yourself here.
You paused with a hand on the handle of the balcony door, staring at the field below it blankly.
Instead of pushing the door open, you turned and looked around the room again. In spite of your best efforts to remain unaffected, anger surge through you as tears formed in your eyes again. You felt lost—like this room was an endless, infinite space that you'd never escape from. It made you feel helpless.
It made you feel weak.
Next to the bed was a small table that held a few books, a lamp, and two framed pictures. The first was of three kids all huddled together with Kakashi towering over them. The man's eyes were closed and his smile was obvious behind his mask, a hand resting on the heads of two boys on either end of the girl in the middle.
You covered your mouth with a trembling hand, crouching to the floor and hugging your knees close to your chest.
The other picture was of the same pink haired girl who stood in the middle of the first picture. She was laughing, eyes squeezed shut and mouth open in what had probably been a delighted laugh. Next to her was a woman with a fond smile on her face and so much warmth in her gaze that it made your chest ache.
It took you a moment to realize that the woman in that picture was you.
You picked the framed photo up carefully, studying the familiar faces of two strangers.
You imagined the rest of the scene playing out after the photo had been taken. The girl reaching a hand to your shoulder as her laughter died down, then seeing that Kakashi had taken a picture and demanding that he show her. She wanted to make sure that she still looked cute mid-laugh. Watching as she tried to snatch his phone from him, hanging off of his arm and demanding that the photo be deleted as Kakashi grinned and held it above his head.
He showed you the photo later. You thought laughter suited Sakura far more than the tears you were accustomed to seeing in the Red Room
"What is this?" you whispered to yourself, choked and strained. You remembered her name. It disappeared from your mind just as fast as it had appeared, slipping away before you had a chance to hold onto it, but it had been there. You knew this girl. You knew this room and this building. You'd been here before.
You'd smiled here. You'd been happy.
It was a trick. This was all just another way for Kakashi to manipulate you—soon enough things would go back to the way they were. Kakashi would reveal his true nature to you, and you'd be right back where you started.
You rocked forward and let your knees hit the hard floor beneath you. The picture hung loosely in your hand, and you leaned wide eyed and reeling against the bed as memories passed through your mind faster than you could catch sight of them. They swirled in a raging tempest that you couldn't possibly breach. They were in dangerous territory that you didn't feel equipped to search through.
The blankets on the bed had the same, distinct scent as the room. They smelled like a forest.
It reminded you of safety. You wanted to bury yourself in it.
It was making you dizzy.
You flinched when you heard the quiet creak of a floorboard on the other side of the room, pushing away from the bed and backing into a wall.
Kakashi froze when your eyes landed on him. You watched him glance around the room and spot the missing picture on his bedside table, then scan your surroundings until he saw it clutched in your shaking hand.
Tears were slipping down your cheeks despite your best efforts to keep them at bay, but you found yourself unable to move your arms to wipe them away. Your body wouldn't respond to you, just like your mind was moving at an uncontrollable pace. You were completely helpless.
It should've been terrifying, but when you searched for the familiar fear that always appeared with when you were in Kakashi's presence, you found that you couldn't feel a thing.
Kakashi took a small step into the room, then another when you only watched him. You kept the picture clutched tightly in your hand like it was a weapon, but you didn't move until he was kneeling in front of you.
"Who are you?" you whispered when he was at your level.
He paused, then he lifted his hand slowly, letting you follow the movement until his fingers stopped at the edge of his mask. He hooked one over the cloth and slid it from his face until you could see his features clearly. The moonlight was shining into the room from the windows, illuminating his lips and his cheeks and his nose—all parts of him that you had never seen before.
"Are you real?"
This was not Kakashi Hatake. Perhaps you were dreaming. Hallucinating, even.
You felt him pulling the frame gently from your tight grip and relented with little fight despite a desperate part of you begging your body to move. It screamed danger as Kakashi's fingers brushed yours when he took the picture, but you just watched him numbly.
He reached towards your empty hand slowly. You watched him very carefully, scrutinizing every movement and waiting for some kind of attack. When he finally brushed his fingers against your palm, you noted that his skin was much softer than before. The hands that you remembered had been rough and unforgiving, always causing pain and inducing fear.
But you felt more relaxed now than you had in a long time. You looked at the features on his face that had been missing when he tortured you and saw a completely different person.
He guided your hand to his chest, then pressed it to his heart and held it there so you could feel the steady beat.
"I'm real," he whispered, threading his fingers through yours and keeping your locked hands pressed to his heart.
He felt real. He looked more real than he ever had.
Kakashi's eyes held yours until they flickered down to your chest. When they widened in alarm, you followed his gaze and studied the red patch steadily growing as it dampened your shirt. You hadn't felt any pain before, but now as you searched for it, you felt the low, dull throb where your stitches had likely ripped.
Your vision was beginning to darken. Staying awake felt safer with Kakashi so close, but the throbbing was spreading to your limbs and your vision was fading at an alarming rate. You'd let your guard down, and now you were paying the price for it.
Kakashi cursed as you slumped forward, but he caught you against his chest and shifted so that you were leaning back against him. Your chest was wet, and you understood how vulnerable this made you, but as you searched for the familiar fear that always seemed to appear when Kakashi was touching you, you found nothing but emptiness.
"I don't understand," you muttered, staring at his shirt when you couldn't bear to look at his face any longer. He was looking down at you as you spoke, but you knew that meeting his eyes would only make the pain in your chest worse, "I don't know what's happening to me."
"I know," he whispered, supporting your head when it began to fall to the side. He adjusted so that you could lean it back on his shoulder, bending his knees so that you were caged in and supported on all sides. You let yourself sink into him like like it was a natural response to his shift in position.
His arms were around you, holding you steady as your body went limp. You'd exhausted yourself completely, and now you were paying the price for being so careless with your injuries. You'd just wanted to get out—to go back to where they'd found you and stay in that room until you slowly faded from existence.
Instead, you were in the arms of the person you feared most in the world, and as darkness dominated your vision, you found that some part of you didn't want him to let you go.

"Asuma," Kakashi blinked, stopping in his yard and watching his friend stroke Bull's back and take a long drag of his cigarette, "I didn't think you'd still be here."
"Well," the man shrugged, tapping his cigarette into an empty cup, "you've got a nice place here, Kakashi."
"It's not a hotel, you know."
"Your mutts are lonely," Asuma said with a grin, petting Bull on the head and watching amusedly as the rest of the dogs ran through the open front door and began competing for Kakashi's divided attention, "and I'm still recovering."
Asuma clapped his casted leg heavily, giving a chuckle when Bull nudged the injury with his nose.
"You're a lucky bastard," Kakashi muttered as he studied the newly-replaced cast. The side that was in his view had a giant signature taking up most of the space that vaguely resembled Guy's name, "if anyone else had taken a hit like that, they'd be six-feet under."
"And you're oh-so kind to help a poor cripple like me by giving me unpaid labor."
"You offered," Kakashi grumbled, sliding past Asuma to get into the house, "and you told me that letting you stay here was payment enough."
"Yeah, but when people say that, they don't actually mean it."
There was a silence as Kakashi looked the living room. The rest of the pack were settling back into their respective beds since the excitement of Kakashi's return had died down. He let out a sigh and strode further into the house.
"So...I know you don't like when people pry into your business," Asuma began from the porch. Kakashi heard him grunt pushed himself up on his good leg and turned to hand him his crutches, "and I know the question about why you got a new place is off-limits–"
"Correct."
"But why the extra room? You really need five beds for just you and the kiddos?"
Kakashi paused, glancing down the hall at the open door at the end. The bed inside was made and untouched, and it lacked any substantial decor aside from a spare painting that Kakashi hadn't really known what to do with. He looked away.
"I didn't pick the place," Kakashi shrugged, "I told Guy to find me something. He must've wanted a bedroom for himself."
"Hm. Sounds like something Guy would do," Asuma chuckled, "but I know when you're lying. I also know Guy's taste in real estate, and this ain't it. But I'll let you off the hook this time."
Kakashi ignored Asuma and rummaged through his kitchen cabinets for one of the instant-ramen cups that Naruto liked. The boy had come back to the compound that morning distraught because the grocery store was sold out, and Kakashi would rather not have another sulking child to look after tomorrow morning when there was no instant-ramen to have for lunch.
"That really all you came for?" Asuma questioned behind him.
"And the dogs. They're coming back to the compound with me."
Pakkun perked up at this, trotting over to Kakashi and pawing at his leg as if he'd understood the statement. Kakashi bent down and stroked a hand over his head.
Asuma was scrutinizing him, looking close to breaking and asking more question about the house. Kakashi ignored him and went back to rummaging through the cabinets for any more instant ramen cups he had buried behind cereal and loose spices.
"Are you sure you're alright?"
Kakashi sighed, heavy and deep so that Asuma would hear. He knew he looked like shit—he'd been up all night while Ino stitched you up, then couldn't bring himself to leave your room no matter how many times he told himself that he needed to go before you woke up. He found that convincing himself to leave you was much harder after he'd spent so long wondering if you were even still alive.
So he wasn't at his best this morning. But he also hadn't expected to still have company.
"I'm fine," he said, though he could still feel Asuma's scrutinizing gaze, "just tired."
Asuma was silent for a long moment, and Kakashi did his best to look focused on the task at hand to keep himself from turning and seeing Asuma's concerned glances.
"If you say so."

"Usually the pawn moves first. You can use the knight if you want to, but I'd stick with pawns until you get the hang of it–"
"I'll move the knight first!"
Shikamaru sighed, nodding at Naruto to go ahead and watching his friend move the knight forward triumphantly.
"Ok, what next?"
"I can't walk you through it step by step. Each game is different, so you have to learn what the pieces do and then decide the strategies yourself–"
"Pakkun!"
Sakura snickered at Shikamaru's unimpressed expression as Pakkun came bursting through the door, knocking the pieces off of the Shogi board and leaping into Naruto's arms.
Naruto let out a laugh, pushing Pakkun away as the pug licked his face and sat on Naruto's chest, tail wagging despite the perpetual frown on his face.
"Shikamaru?"
Naruto looked up at Kakashi standing in the doorway, but he was quickly distracted by the rest of the pack following Pakkun's lead and piling on top of the boy—who accepted them joyfully. Sakura sighed as laughter filled the room, then pulled Bull away as he began wandering towards where you were laying in your hospital bed.
"What are you guys doing in here?" Kakashi asked quietly, looking around at the scattered Shogi pieces, then looking at where you were still unconscious from your injury the night before. You hadn't moved since he left that morning, but part of him kept expecting you to just shoot up from bed and run at the first opportunity.
"Well, you said that you and Y/N had a...conversation," Sakura said sheepishly, avoiding Kakashi's eyes in favor of looking at Urushi as she scratched behind his ear, "and we wanted to be here when she woke up. We thought maybe she'd remember things faster that way."
"I didn't say 'conversation,' I said fight. She attacked me, then she ripped her stitches and passed out on me."
"But something happened in between! You told me!"
"Which I regret now," Kakashi grumbled. He let out a long, frustrated sigh, then sat in an empty chair at your bedside.
"Hey Kakashi."
"Hello Shikamaru," Kakashi deadpanned, then looked at his suspiciously quiet student on the opposite side of the bed, "Sasuke, I thought we talked about the whole 'discretion' issue."
"Yeah, but..." Sasuke looked at Kakashi, then winced and shrugged, "it's Shikamaru. Plus, we didn't tell him anything important. In fact, we brought him here to help."
Kakashi sighed again, pinching the bridge of his nose and thinking through this new development. He knew they had good intentions. They wanted you to heal as much as he did, but including more people in the mess that things had become was reckless.
He couldn't risk losing you. Not again. And if SHIELD found out about you now, when things were still so delicate, he knew what would happen.
Looking at the situation objectively, it wasn't safe to have you in the compound. You'd clearly gotten out of your restraints the first time you'd woken up, and he still had no idea how you'd done it. Telling SHIELD was probably the best way to go about this as a way of ensuring the safety of everyone involved.
But his students would never forgive him if he did that. And he knew that he wouldn't see you again if SHIELD got their hands on you.
He was being selfish, but he couldn't let that happen.
"Shikamaru," he said carefully, looking down at the boy sitting next to the Shogi board, "I know this isn't the most...conventional situation, but please don't say anything about her."
"Don't worry," Shikamaru said, "I have no interest in who she is or where she came from. I'm just here to play Shogi."
"To play...what?"
"We were doing some research," Sakura interjected before Naruto or Sasuke could, "and it turns out that strategy games can help improve memory. We thought that it might help."
"I don't think there have been any studies about this particular issue."
"Yeah, but we might as well try, right?" Sakura asked hopefully. "I mean, we can't just sit back and watch her suffer."
Kakashi opened his mouth with no real response formulated, but the door clicked open before he could speak. Kakashi sighed when Ino froze in the doorway and took in the scene before her.
"Guys, there are way too many people in here. If she wakes up, she's going to be too overwhelmed, and—who is that?"
Ino narrowed her eyes at Shikamaru. Her gaze shifted to Sakura, then to you, and then back to Shikamara still sorting through his Shogi pieces.
"I'm Shikamaru," he said dully, "I'm just here to play Shogi."
"Well, can you do it outside of the hospital room? There are seven people and—jesus—eight dogs in this room."
"Aw," Naruto groaned, hugging Bull as he strode to the boy's side and gaze him a slobbery kiss on the cheek. Ino cringed, "but we want to make sure Y/N's okay when she wakes up!"
"You do realize that she was holding a gun to your head not even a week ago."
"Ino," Sakura hissed, eyes wide with worry as she glanced down at Naruto, but the boy just shook his head and smiled.
"It's okay," he said softly, "I forgive her. Actually, no, there's nothing to forgive in the first place."
Ino stopped, staring at Naruto like he was speaking another language. It took a moment, and it looked like it had been years to Ino, but she finally shook her head and turned towards you.
"Okay, fine, just...go wait outside. This won't take long."
Ino glanced at Kakashi with a look that told him to stay where he was. They waited as the other four filed out, ushering the dogs along with them, then shut the door. Silence filled the room, and Kakashi took a deep breath in an attempt to regain some form of composure.
"The Shikamaru guy won't be a problem, right?"
"No, he'll be fine."
"I hope you're right," Ino said gravely, "because if he is—"
"He'll be fine," Kakashi repeated, glaring at Ino until she shrugged and looked away from him.
Sometimes he forgot that Ino was a Widow. It was moments like this that gave him a harsh reminder.
"Everything seems fine," Ino muttered as she lifted your hospital gown and poked at your wound, restitched but still irritated and swollen from the previous night. "It'll take longer for it to heal, obviously, so we have to figure out some way to keep her from exerting herself again."
Kakashi sighed, head dropping into his hands as he thought through their options. It seemed wrong to put you into a medically-induced coma without at least asking you first, but in your current state, you would never let that happen, even if it was Ino who was overseeing your medical care.
But the alternative was to let you wake up again, and there was no telling what kind of damage you'd cause to your body if that happened.
"So," Ino sighed, sitting in the chair on the other side of your bed and resting her elbows on her knees. Her eyes were narrowed—scrutinizing. Kakashi prepared for the incoming interrogation, "are you going to tell me what happened after you fought her last night?"
He'd been dodging Ino's questions all morning. He had no idea how to explain what last night had been like, and Ino was not the person he wanted to share it with.
But he supposed that she wasn't going to let him leave unless he gave some answers, and he really didn't have the energy to argue with her.
"She went to my room and found the photos I keep displayed. I guess they must've brought something back."
"What were the photos of?"
Kakashi grimaced, cheeks reddening as he tried to come up with a believable lie. It was one thing to have the picture. He never really invited people to his room anyways, so he hadn't thought it mattered.
Well, he usually never invited people to his room.
"One was of me and the kids," he said, leaning back in his chair and looking at the wall above Ino. He tried to steady his voice as much as possible and feigned a casualness that he knew sounded fake, "the other was of Y/N and Sakura."
Silence filled the room, and Kakashi let himself bask in it for a few moments before he glanced back down at Ino. Her eyebrows were raised to her hairline, mouth pursed in a tight line and hands clenched tightly together like she was trying not to jump out of her seat and hit something.
"Okay," she said cooly, "and then what happened?"
"She asked me if I was real, and I showed her...I showed her my face. And then she passed out."
"And you brought her here."
"Yes," Kakashi grumbled, "I brought her here. Then I woke you up."
Ino watched him for another moment. Then she glanced at you, and something in her face shifted.
"During the last month that we were with Orochimaru, I kept asking myself, 'why is it Kakashi Hatake, of all people, who's getting to her? Why is the idea of his betrayal so painful?'"
Kakashi could feel his heart pounding in his chest, just like it did every time he heard that name. He tried not to let it show in his face, but he knew that Ino saw. Saw the twitch of his eye and the clenching of his fists and the tension in his shoulders.
"I don't know what love feels like," Ino continued. "Honestly, I don't really know what a lot of things feel like, but the way that she tried to hold onto your memory..."
"Please stop," he muttered, looking out the window to try and find something to focus on other than the pounding of his heart. Each beat felt like a stab in the chest. He thought it would shatter if he even tried to look at you.
"Why?" Ino asked, and he wondered if there was a point to this or if she just felt like being cruel, "do you not feel the same? Or are you just afraid to face it?"
"I don't want to talk about this with you," Kakashi snapped, finally glancing down from the window and glaring at Ino, "and that's very far from my main concern right now."
Ino sighed. Kakashi took a deep breath to keep himself from saying something out of frustration. When he felt calm enough to look at you again, he felt his racing heart begin to slow.
"We also need to talk about Orochimaru."
Kakashi felt the moment his anger was set ablaze once again. It was a storm inside of him, twisting his insides until all he could feel was that terrible anger that had been building against that monster for six years.
"I don't know what he's planning, but I've known him my whole life. He's not just going to give up," Ino said, observing Kakashi carefully. He tried to calm himself down again, but this time looking at you just made him angrier.
That man had done this to you. He was the one to blame for everything.
"I don't care what he tries. He's not getting anywhere near us again," Kakashi muttered darkly, eyes still on you despite how angry he was on your behalf. He would grab his anger by the throat, and he'd channel it into keeping you and his students safe.
He had already failed to do it once. That wouldn't happen a second time.
"That's a nice thought," Ino hummed. Kakashi glared at her, but she wasn't facing him anymore. Instead she was staring through the window, eyes clouded and very, very far away, "but it's wishful thinking. If he wants to get to you, he'll find a way. He always does."
"Before, he had the Widows."
"It doesn't matter," Ino said, the ghost of a smile still on her lips. Kakashi narrowed his eyes, watching her carefully. She seemed so...resigned. Like she had already accepted whatever fate Orochimaru had in store for her, "he always finds a way."
"How do we find him?"
"We don't," Ino shrugged, "but HYDRA might. In that case, we won't have anything to worry about."
"You don't think HYDRA will come after you too?"
"After me?" Ino laughed, "no, I don't think so. I'm a small fish. They have much bigger issues than a few rogue Widows. Especially ones that are still trainees."
"Trainees?" Kakashi asked, brows furrowed. He finally looked back up at Ino, and he could see her trying to hold back laughter, "what do you mean?"
"I mean me," she said with a cackle, "and Sakura, obviously, but that's because she came in late."
"But you're...is Y/N–"
"Oh, no. She graduated a long time ago," Ino waved the thought away, "but Widows are trainees for a long time. We only rank up once we turn eighteen."
Kakashi blinked at her, and she laughed again.
"I'm younger than Sakura, you know."
"You're...what?"
"Yep," she sighed, "really annoyed me when I found out. I still don't get how she's older than me. It's only by a few months, but man did she seem young when we first met."
Kakashi begged to differ. Sakura had always tried to act older than she was, if only to one-up Naruto and Sasuke. She appointed herself the level-headed one of the group, parading around as the self-appointed leader who could take on any task. She continued to be the brains of their little trio as they got older, and that would likely never change.
But Ino was so young. All four of them were.
"Don't do that."
"Huh?"
"Make that face," Ino grimaced, "like you feel bad for me or something. I know it seems like it to an old man, but we're really not all that young."
Kakashi glanced at her dully, and she laughed again.
"If you keep worrying so much, you actually are going to turn into an old man."
There wasn't really much to do but worry. It had been hard enough knowing that you were with Orochimaru and that he couldn't do anything about it. It was an entirely different type of worry now that you were back, but still trapped in Orochimaru's lies.
"Listen," Ino sighed, "even before you found us, we were making progress. She wasn't as scared, and she was remembering bits and pieces of her past. You just have to give her time to heal."
Kakashi glanced at you, counting each breath as it rose with your chest and finding a relieving calmness in the task.
Your monitor had been a steady, reassuring beat in the background of the room since Kakashi had entered, but both he and Ino perked up when it began to quicken. Kakashi stood, waiting with bated breath for any type of movement. The speed of the monitor wasn't concerning, but it was becoming clear that you were beginning to wake up.
Would you remember him? Would you still hate him?
Would you be afraid of him?
Your wrists were secured to the sides of the hospital bed with leather straps—a precaution that seemed necessary considering what had happened the night before—but it still seemed wrong. He didn't like seeing you strapped down. He didn't like that he was the one who had restrained you.
"Calm down."
Kakashi looked up and saw Ino staring at him, eyes narrowed as she scrutinized his face.
"I am calm."
"You're freaking out," Ino said matter-of-factly as she looked back down at you and checked your IV and heart monitor. Really, it looked like she was doing unnecessary tasks to distract herself from your slow rise from unconsciousness, "you look ready to bolt."
"I don't want to be here if she's afraid of me."
"She's not afraid of you," Ino murmured, "you're not the one who tortured her."
"It doesn't matter," Kakashi shot back, "I was the one she saw."
"It does matter." Ino snapped, "She can already tell that there's a difference, right? That's what you told me. Like I said, you just have to give her time."
Kakashi knew she was right. As painful as this felt, it wouldn't be for
"Help her believe that you're not Orochimaru," Ino said, watching with Kakashi as your hand twitched and your eyes squeezed shut, "Show her that you're different."
Tumblr media
"Y/N?"
You were floating. There was nothing beneath you but empty space and nothing above you but darkness. Your arms were spread at your sides, fingers splayed to feel what was holding you up, but all you could do was ball your hands into empty fists in a fruitless attempt to hold onto the nothingness keeping you afloat.
You closed your eyes.
"Please wake up."
Someone was crying. You felt their tears falling onto your face, and your eyes flickered open when a drop of salty water landed on your eyelid. The harsh light above you felt like a stone weighing down your skull. Your head was pounding, but there was solid ground beneath you now. That, at least, brought you some relief.
"Thank God," someone said to your left, and before you could look at them properly, arms were around your waist, squeezing it like you would slip from their grasp the moment they let you go. You stiffened, body tensing the longer they held onto you. When you glanced down, you saw a mess of pink hair on the head of whoever was holding you.
"Let go of her," a new voice snarled, low and dangerous. You reached out instinctively, covering the girl as best as you could and looking up at the man who had spoken.
He didn't look very strong. You gave him a once over and decided with a fairly high level of certainty that you could take him if it came down to a fight. His long, black hair cascaded down his back, and when he turned to face you, you couldn't help but be reminded of a snake. His irises were practically slits, and they narrowed on you when he met your eyes.
You were sure that you could overpower this man, but you still looked at the ground the moment he turned towards you, fear filling your lungs like it was the very air you were breathing.
"I don't understand," the girl said, still holding your waist. Her voice was shaky, and you instinctively gripped her tighter, "we didn't do anything wrong. We did what you said–"
You hadn't registered that there was someone standing behind you until he grabbed the girl by the arm and dragged her towards the opposite side of the room. You opened your mouth, but a sharp glare from the silver-haired man who had just appeared silenced you immediately. Fear rocketed through you, but you didn't understand why you were so afraid. All you knew was that you felt a deep desperation to make sure this girl didn't get hurt.
The silver-haired man pulled the sobbing girl forward until she was at the other's feet, kneeling before him. He threw her down with a sneer, then turned back towards you. He looked disgusted.
"Y/N," the taller man said sharply. You lifted your chin, but your eyes stayed fixed on the wall behind him, "I know you lied to me about this mission."
Your body went taut, tension nearly bursting from you as you searched for some answer to the unspoken question he was asking, but nothing was clear. None of your memories were surfacing no matter how desperately you searched for them.
Yet, despite the information that you were missing, your mouth opened and you began speaking before you even knew what you were going to say.
"Sir," you heard yourself say, the slightest tremor in your voice, "I apologize. There was some information that I didn't believe was relevant."
Silence spread over the room like a thick blanket of fog. You couldn't remember where this was. You had no idea who these people were, but you were speaking like all of this was a memory.
"Sakura," the man said, and you jolted. You knew that name. You knew this girl—it was right there in front of you, if you could only open your eyes and see it.
"Y/N had a different mission than you. She was supposed to tell me whether or not you are a valuable asset to the Red Room."
Sakura's eyes widened, but she didn't take the risk of looking at you. You could see how hard she was shaking at the feet of the black-haired man, and your fingers tightened into fists. You were fighting a battle against your instinct to protect her, but it was losing to the fear that kept crashing into you in waves. There was nothing you could do. Not against them.
You knew, deep down, that anything even resembling rebellion or defiance would end in pain. Pain for both you and Sakura.
"And she left some key information out of her report. One detail being your failure to kill your target. She had to do it for you, correct?"
You scowled at the ground, wracking your brain to try and figure out how he'd known that the mission had gone so wrong so quickly.
The memories were coming back. You could picture the second you pulled the trigger when Sakura hesitated. It was a crucial moment in the mission, and she would've missed it had you not taken the shot for her. At the time, she'd been grateful.
The events were all coming back. But why...why did you risk that for her?
But despite your confusion, overpowering it was fear. Fear for the girl kneeling on the other side of the room.
You knew what was going to happen next.
And that man...you knew his name. And you knew you had good reason to be afraid of him.
"Why did you lie?"
You tensed, wide eyes fixed on the ground as you tried to come up with some excuse that wouldn't end with Sakura getting hurt.
"Sir," you began, the word escaping you in a hushed breath, "I made the decision to kill him. Sakura wold have had the opportunity to do so had I not stepped in. The fault lies with me."
"Y/N–"
Your head shot up at the sound of skin hitting skin, but you only saw the aftermath of Sakura's body hitting the ground with a thud. Your throat dried as you glared at Kabuto's raised hand, and the anger that had been growing in your chest flared.
You were forced to look away when the black-haired man approached you, footsteps echoing off of the sleek, black tile in the silence of the room. His movement made even the other man pause.
You saw his shoes stop in front of you, but you didn't dare lift your head now that he was so close. It was only when he leaned down and gripped the back of your neck in a tight fist that you were forced to look up and finally meet his eyes.
"What do you think you deserve for lying to me?" he asked calmly, though his tightened grip was a stark contrast to his tone. Any tighter, and you wouldn't have been able to speak. You winced when he gave pulled you up from where you were sitting—a warning not to take any longer to answer.
"I will accept any punishment you deem acceptable to give me, sir," you told him, the words automatic and practiced. You allowed yourself a moment to glance behind him and meet Sakura's eyes. She shook her head, eyes wide and frantic, and you gave her the smallest smile you could manage, unsure if she would even see it. "And I will take any further punishment in Sakura's stead."
"I can't allow that."
"May I speak freely?"
There was a pause. That was a risky question to ask. Especially when you were on thin ice already.
"Speak."
"Sakura responds well to my instruction. You've seen the improvement yourself since we've been partnered together. Let me take on her punishment, and I will continue to train her until she is ready to graduate. I promise that I will make your expectations of us very clear to her."
He considered your words, staring at you as he did so. He was scrutinizing every little movement of your body—every shift in your expression, and you practically felt his gaze reaching the depths and recesses of your soul. He knew everything about you. He knew how terrified you were of him.
He also knew that you would do anything to protect Sakura.
"Fine," he relented. You sagged in relief.
Sakura looked devastated. She looked furious.
"Sakura," you whispered, voice hoarse and strained. The girl looked up at you, teeth clenched and eyes full of fire.
"Sakura," you repeated when the man turned towards her, "it's alright. Just let it go."
"How could I—ah!"
"Neither of you were given permission to speak," the silver-haired man hissed, hand raised to strike Sakura once again. You nearly lunged for him, but the other man's fingers tightened on the back of your neck again and you stilled.
"Don't," he said, watching Sakura on the ground blankly, "you're in no position to protect her."
Then he turned towards you again, and you felt the fear that he been a dull ache in your chest up rise into your throat. You pulled back, attempting to get his hand off of your neck, but it only tightened further.
Instead of the black-haired man, it was Kakashi staring you down, silver hair reflecting in the light. Those snake-like eyes were the only things that remained.
"No," you murmured. Kakashi grinned. "This isn't what happened. You weren't here."
"No?" Kakashi mocked. "How would you know? You don't even know who that girl is."
"I do," you croaked, "I do know her."
"You knew her. But you don't know anything anymore, do you?"
You grit your teeth and tried once again to find any relevant memories. The ones that would answer the endless questions that you had about this place. About Sakura and the black-haired man.
About Kakashi.
"You tried to protect her, and you failed," Kakashi said, voice mocking and humored, "and now look at you. You can't even protect yourself. You're useless."
"You're not supposed to be here," you whispered, refusing to look into his eyes, "I know you're not."
"Think, Y/N!"
You looked up at Sakura's voice. Kabuto was gone, and behind her was nothing but that emptiness you'd woken up to.
"You can find your way back! I know you can!"
She looked twice as desperate as she'd been in your memory, but it looked like she was trapped behind a glass wall. She pressed her hands against it, and her shouts began to fade into silence.
When you looked above you again, Kakashi had vanished. You were floating where he had held you, and once Sakura's voice had faded completely, you shifted your gaze back to where she had been standing.
You were alone.
You closed your eyes, curling in on yourself and hugging your knees to your chest in a desperate attempt to keep the emptiness from swallowing you whole. Maybe if you made yourself smaller, it would forget that you were there. Maybe it would leave you alone.
"Let me out," you choked, feeling the silence of the space pressing you in on all sides, making you smaller and smaller until you were just a speck of dust in its infinite vastness.
"No," you choked, "no, I don't want to be here."
No one responded. The silence was suffocating.
"Let me out!" you screamed, voice drifting off into the emptiness that surrounded you. The sound died the moment it left your lips. No one heard you. You wondered if you'd even spoken at all.
"Wake me up," you whispered, voice cracked and so close to shattering. "Please...please let me leave."
The empty space gave an answering shudder that shook you to the bones. Then, in a merciful acceptance of your pleas, it shattered, leaving you with nothing to do but open your eyes.
Tumblr media
Regaining consciousness felt similar to clawing at empty air. Like you were trying to grasp at anything to keep you grounded. It quickly became exhausting.
It was unpleasant, and your head was pounding, but relief still overpowered everything else that you were feeling.
Ino was hovering over you, scanning your expression and giving you a forced smile when she met your eyes. You blinked, watching blankly as she felt your forehead, then your pulse, then the probes on your chest attached to your heart monitor.
"How are you feeling?" she asked after a moment, finally sitting in a chair at your side.
"Tired," you muttered. Ino chuckled.
"That's because you're still doped up on pain killers," she shook her head, "I can't believe you. I thought I told you that we were safe here."
You grumbled something that was intended to be an apology, but probably sounded more like inaudible frustration.
When she got no other response, Ino glanced at something above you, and you saw the nervousness that passed over her face before you turned to find out what was causing it.
You cycled through several emotions at once when you met Kakashi's eyes. The image of that familiar man's face was the first thing to appear, and you swallowed against the bile rising in your throat. You'd just barely held onto the image of his face from your dream, but it felt important. Far too important to forget before you understood what was going on.
Kakashi seemed to sense the internal battle that you were fighting and looked at Ino, freeing you from his scrutinizing gaze.
"Y/N," Ino said, voice frustratingly calm. It was like she was talking to a wild animal, afraid that it would bolt at the first sign of a threat.
Though you supposed that you'd done nothing but prove yourself a danger to the people around you. And the straps over your wrists and ankles were a harsh reminder of how recklessly you'd acted the night before.
"Is it alright if I step out for a minute?"
You looked up at Ino indignantly, eyes wide and a very strong "no" involuntarily forming on your lips. For the past seven months, being alone with Kakashi meant pain. It meant that you were doing something wrong.
"Ino, maybe that's not the best–"
"I'm not asking you," Ino interrupted Kakashi firmly, gaze holding yours even as she spoke to the man on your other side. "Y/N?"
Why would she even ask? She knew what he had done to you. She knew how much you feared him.
You risked another glance at Kakashi, and he quickly averted his eyes when you caught him looking at you.
"Actually, I should probably go check on the others–"
"It's fine," you stopped him as he began to stand from his seat. You turned back to Ino and gave her a wobbly smile. She didn't look impressed by your attempt to look calm, "you can go."
Ino gave a nod, then looked up at Kakashi and narrowed her eyes. You couldn't tell what message she was trying to convey, but Kakashi seemed to understand. Then, after glancing at the straps holding you down by your wrists and ankles, she opened the door and left.
Silence swallowed the room, and you kept your head turned towards the door. Then, when your heartbeat had slowed enough that you felt you could move, you turned your head and gazed at the ceiling.
Maybe this wasn't the best idea.
This wasn't the Kakashi you knew. It wasn't the man who tortured you. There were missing pieces, and you were likely in no danger with someone that Ino trusted to be alone with you.
But you still couldn't help the fear that flooded you at the sight of him. Everything else was obscured by his mask, but his eyes...they often haunted you in your nightmares.
And even though they looked different, they were the same eyes you remembered. They were kinder, but looking at them still reminded you of that machine.
You could feel yourself beginning to float again. You didn't want to shut down now—not after you'd just woken up and especially not while you were alone with Kakashi, but that seemed to be where you were heading.
Useless, you heard a voice say in your head. I'm disappointed. I thought you were stronger than this.
It didn't sound like Kakashi. If your very unreliable memory was serving you well, it almost sounded like the black-haired man from your dream.
You risked a glance at Kakashi. He was remaining silent as well, elbows resting on the arms of his chair and hands clasped together. As far as you could tell from his eyes, his expression was tense, but not impatient. Nothing like the expression you remembered from the past seven months.
"Can you," you began shakily, swallowing against your dry throat when the words came out hoarse. You felt pathetic, and you were certain you didn't look any better than you sounded, "can you take off your mask?"
Kakashi looked fairly unsurprised by the request, and he was quick to relent. Just like the night before, he hooked a finger over the black cloth and pulled it down so that it pooled around his neck. And, just like the night before, it triggered something inside you that you'd buried very deep. Something that was too far away for you to identify.
But it was a far cry from the fear that you were accustomed to associating with him.
Now, without the blinding effects of adrenaline and fear, you took the chance to observe him properly. For the longest time, you'd pictured there being something monstrous beneath his mask. Like he was just pretending to be human as a trick, and what lied beneath the black fabric was too horrifying to imagine.
But he was...perfectly normal.
You almost wished he was a monster. That would make all of this less confusing. And it might make you feel less guilty for being afraid of him.
"I had a dream last night," you told Kakashi. "about a man with long, black hair and eyes that reminded me of a snake's. I was...terrified of him."
Kakashi's breath stilled, and you turned your head towards him. He was evidently very good at hiding his emotions, because his expression gave nothing away.
"Do you know who he is?"
Kakashi opened his mouth, then closed it, breaking away from your intense gaze.
"Yes," he finally said, "his name is Orochimaru."
Orochimaru.
The name was like a slap to the face. Hearing it now, you wondered how you'd ever forgotten it. There was so much fear associated with him that feeling it now was like knowing true terror for the first time.
You thought you'd been afraid of Kakashi, but as the image of Orochimaru and his serpentine gaze formed in your mind, you realized that the fear you'd felt then was just a small island compared to the world of hate and pain that was opening up before you.
"Breathe," Kakashi said next to you, hands kept very deliberately at his sides, "he can't get to you here."
Your heart was pounding, and you had no idea why. You didn't know where this fear came from. You just knew that it existed it.
It was consuming you.
All of the images of Kakashi torturing you with that machine became hazy—as if they had sunk to the bottom of a the ocean, only the ghost of them visible through the water. They shifted so quickly and so violently that you thought it would make you sick.
And then, when the waves calmed and you could see the images clearly, Orochimaru had taken Kakashi's place at the center of each memory.
Maybe it had never been Kakashi. Maybe the person you'd been afraid of for as long as you could remember wasn't real. He was just a twisted version of the man sitting here now, seemingly taking care of you despite how violently you'd attacked him.
What if he's lying? a small, almost silent voice whispered in your ear. How would you possibly be able to tell the difference?
You swallowed, fighting the wave of nausea that made bile rise in your throat. How were you supposed to know what the truth was? How could he prove it? How could you trust him if he did?
Nothing felt real. Every bit of kindness seemed like a trick.
You couldn't even trust yourself anymore.
"Why did I end up like this?" you whispered, trying desperately to keep tears at bay. Letting Kakashi see you cry not once, but two times in the span of twelve hours was humiliating. You felt far too vulnerable as a layer of salty tears blocked your vision despite your best efforts to contain it.
"It's not your fault," Kakashi whispered, though he sounded just as lost as you felt.
It's not yours either.
You couldn't say that to him. You weren't sure you even believed it, but it came to mind as an automatic response to the sadness in his voice and the guilt plaguing his expression. Something in your chest tightened at the look on his face. You turned back to the ceiling.
"You probably know more about me than I do."
In the silence that followed your words, you could hear the faint sound of whispering coming from the other side of the door. After a few moments, a bark made all of the whispering voices pause, then they all began shushing the perpetrator of the noise simultaneously. You glanced towards the door cautiously, counting the different voices and determining that four people sat outside of your room.
That many people could quickly overtake you with your injury hindering you—not to mention the restraints holding you down. Your door wasn't locked, so they could easily come in and ambush you. And you certainly didn't trust Kakashi to come to your aid in the event of an attack—one civil exchange wasn't enough to erase your fear. Not by a long shot.
You tested the restraints again, feeling more desperate to free yourself of them by the second. You were caged in on both sides by people whose intentions were a mystery to you. Kakashi—this version of him at least—hadn't proven himself a threat yet, but the voices outside were unfamiliar. Ino's wasn't among them, meaning she had either left, been attacked, or...
Perhaps she had never been here to begin with. What a sick twist of fate that you were alone in enemy territory after all, and you'd just conjured a hallucination of her as a means of coping.
And there was a dog—not a small one, if that bark was anything to go by.
It didn't matter that, at an instinctual level, you trusted Kakashi. It didn't matter that he seemed to be telling the truth when he said that he was on your side. Trusting him now was a bad idea. You didn't have nearly enough information to believe that all he had were good intentions.
"I'm taking your restraints off."
You looked over at Kakashi, now standing and focused on the leather straps around your wrists. He glanced at you with a raised brow, a silent question in his eyes. You narrowed your own at his seemingly well-intentioned gesture. It was a bit too well intentioned—what reason did he have to believe you wouldn't wring his neck the first chance you got?
He was either very kind, very stupid, or an unhealthy mix of the two.
"Why?" you asked, making Kakashi pause. He shrugged as he reached forward, waiting for your nod of assent before he loosened the strap on your left wrist enough that you could pull your hand through.
"They were mostly a precaution for when you first woke up. We didn't want you to panic and hurt yourself, or..."
He grimaced, neatly avoiding your eyes as he moved to the other side of the bed and undid the right strap. You circled your newly-freed wrists in relief and made a very weak attempt at sitting up. You didn't get very far when pain flared in your chest, and you fell back with a frustrated huff.
"Don't do that," Kakashi shook his head as he took the straps off of your ankles, "you have to give your body a break if you want to heal."
"I got around just fine last night," you muttered. Kakashi huffed
"Well, you're still just as reckless as before."
You furrowed your brow. Before.
The gaping holes in your memory were torturous. Knowing that there was so much missing kept you up at night as you tried desperately to find your way through the haze blocking you from your memories. But everything felt so far away, and you were tired of having to look for things that should have belonged to you.
Your mind should've been your own to control.
"Is there a girl named Sakura here?"
Kakashi's eyes widened, and hope bled into his expression. His lips parted just slightly, then lifted in a happy—albeit small—smile.
"There is," he said with a laugh, "she misses you."
"She was in my dream," you furrowed your brow, "but I don't remember anything about her."
"That's okay," Kakashi shook his head, "anything you remember is progress. Even if it's just a name."
Progress. You almost wanted to laugh. You couldn't even remember what the end goal of that progress was. How were you supposed to find your way back into a mind that seemed lost to you?
"How can I know that you actually mean that?"
"Trust isn't earned over night," Kakashi said, eyes not leaving yours, "it took us both a while to trust one another the first time we met."
The image of a man separated from you by a cell door flashed across your mind, and you stowed it away carefully.
"What changed?"
That gave Kakashi paused. You watched him as he looked down at his clasped hands and pondered on it.
"I can't say what changed for you," he finally answered, "but I knew that I could trust someone who cared as much about my student as I did. You protected Sakura for a long time. That's why..."
The pause that followed was heavy. You shifted in the bed, suddenly unsure whether you wanted him to continue.
"That's why you left. To protect her."
You chose to leave. If what Kakashi was saying was true, it was all because of how much you cared about the girl from your dream.
It was your choice. So why did Kakashi look so guilty?
You replayed your dream again, thinking about the sacrifice you'd made in that one memory to keep Sakura safe. The pain that you were willing to endure to make sure she didn't have to feel it too.
"Will you tell me more?" you asked hesitantly, wondering if it was acceptable to make such a request of someone you still didn't know if you could trust.
"Of course," he said immediately, "anything you want to know."
You weren't sure what you could possibly ask.
"Start from the beginning."

Author's note | YEESH another long one, hopefully it makes up for the nearly two month long wait. i'm hoping you guys like the direction the story is going. we're (kinda) nearing the end of this particular story, but i have more plans so no worries there.
i'm hoping that the storyline isn't getting too repetitive, and i know that not much is happening in the way of romance, but i PROMISE we're getting there. i tend to say a lot and take a while to get where i'm going but i hope that's something you guys enjoy.
also, if you haven't yet, please check out the playlist for this fic (linked above)! it is very specific to my taste in music but i think it fits the story really well. i tried to order it to fit the order of events in the fic, so maybe listen while you read if that's something you enjoy. i do want to point out one song that i've been listening to non-stop and that has inspired me a lot recently. it's called "take me to war" by the crane wives, and my favorite lyrics are "there are no stones at my disposal / there's no god to award me a crown / but i am always swinging at / somebody i can't knock down." i feel like it fits so well.
anyways, thank you for reading this far and don't forget to leave me some love if you enjoyed!! see y'all in the next chapter!

"Thank you for bringing me these documents. Lord Sixth is handling some important business, but I'll ensure he gets them."
Kakashi's lucky I'm not just his advisor but also his best friend, or I'd be dropping these stacks of paper on the ground. He didn't even leave his office! Just sitting back reading his Icha Icha book!
"And thank you, his advisor," Looking up from his book briefly, I rolled my eyes:
"You're welcome."
"That's not the right kind of attitude to have when you have so much work piled up," He toyed, dodging the paper I went to bap his head with.
"This is your work, not mine! Be grateful!" I growled, sitting and organizing the paperwork, "If you're going to kick back and read, at least read a different book or something."
"But I like this one,"
"Hm, wonder why..."
"...."
"...."
Side-eyeing each other, I began to work, clicking my pen and mumbling:
"Guess you have to read about sex when you're not good at it."
I didn't look but could feel his eyes on me for a while. The paperwork didn't take up too much of my time; I sped through it, bringing the stack over to his desk:
"Hate interrupting your reading session, but these need your signature."
"Sure," Finally putting the book down, he signed every single one, scratching his head as he thanked, "I do appreciate you handling that while I took a break, Y/N. Thank you."
"It's not a problem," I sighed, turning and returning the papers, "Think it's time for a break of my own."
"I have one more assignment for you, though," Swinging in his chair to face me, he was smirking under his mask as I groaned and huffed:
"Let me guess? More paperwork you don't want to do?"
Suddenly, he turned into smoke. A shadow clone? I was here with him the whole time! When did he make a shadow clone?!
"On your back or bent over. I'll let you choose." He was behind me, his whisper sending chills down my spine.
"Kakashi-"
"I heard your smart little remark earlier," I figured as much but didn't expect him to take me seriously, swallowing a breath as his voice was filled with dark desires, "So, do you accept your assignment?"
"Oh, Kakashi," I had to laugh off the nerves a little, unable to stop the tiny spark I felt from turning into a wildfire. It was too late to turn back, and I didn't want to; glancing at him in the corner of my eye, "I accept."
The confidence in my eyes disappeared with the shadow clone that I thought was him behind me, blindsided yet again, but this time, it was him who took me by the back of the neck, his kiss so hot that it made me gasp.
"Still haven't made up your mind yet?" Kissing with his tongue, I only focused on how he tasted, forgetting what he was talking about till he picked my leg, making me fall onto his desk, "I'll choose then. Besides, I want to see the look on your face when I make you eat your words."
"I really pissed you off, huh?" I whispered, always mesmerized by his handsome face as he had taken his mask off, falling hard for the side of him I never knew, swiping my panties from under my skirt, "Come and prove me wrong."
"You have an assignment you should be worried about," He warned, hand squeezing and trailing up my thigh as I asked curiously:
"What is the main objective for this assignment of mine anyway?"
Taking two fingers and gliding through my wet heat had me biting at my lip, placing his thumb on my clit while pushing into my soppy cunt, pumping a speed that increased with his words:
"We are in my office, so you can't be loud, and you can't cum till I say you can."
His fingers worked against every spot he could reach, attacking my sweet spots strategically, his thumb still working my clit, up and down, round and round till it was raw and throbbing, making me moan out:
"'Kay, Kakashi!"
"Ah ah ah," His tongue clicked, those dark eyes coming down to mine, "Didn't I just tell you not to be loud?"
"S-Sorry," I whispered, moaning hollowly, eyes squeezing shut in sequence with my thighs. Still, it didn't slow his hand down for even a second; my lip trapped between my teeth again as I began clenching around his fingers, having to hold back my orgasm, creating a complex pulsation.
"You poor thing, struggling already, and I'm only using my fingers," He loved to tease me, his tongue along my ear adding to the pleasure that was already too much, "I bet it's hard to hold back when it feels so good."
"Shit-" I hissed through my teeth, the bubble in my core expanding wide, wiggling against the desk as I tried to keep it from bursting, whispering as I found his gaze with water glistening in mine, "Kakashi-"
"Hmm, you do listen after all," Curling his fingers upward and wiggling, ramming up on my clit hard, he finally said what I wanted to hear, "Cum."
Shutting my mouth with my fist, I was gnawing on my knuckles, the relief like a weight off my shoulders as I came, creaming and slicking his hand, feeling myself dripping against my thighs and down to my ass.
Kakashi wasn't going to take it easy on me, still panting and dying for air as he spread my legs wider, my skirt leaving so he could have the open view of the mess I was just from his hand.
"Good thing you took care of all those papers on my desk," Chuckling and leaning down to me, he moved my fist from my mouth, snatching my wrists in one hand, pinning them above my head, his free hand between us, releasing his cock, the tip circling my clamping hole, "What a tight, little thing. Practically begging me to fuck you."
"P-Please?"
That put a no-good smile on his face. He won and proved me wrong. My beg was proof of victory, but he still had more he wanted to prove, still toying with me:
"You sure? I thought you said I wasn't good at it."
A small gust of wind tickled my burning skin, his cock nearly tearing me apart, hips smacking into mine to make me take every inch, the strength behind it jolting my whole body, whining out:
"I was wrong!"
"I said, be quiet," Quickly glancing to the door, it was locked, thankfully, but he still wasn't satisfied with me just yet, letting go of my wrists to snatch my throat; I could still breathe, but my moans were trapped, and it sent my head spiraling. I was so full, his cock not showing any mercy, stretching me out just for his cock to slam back deep, the hits against my sweet spot making me clench up harder each time.
The way I wanted to scream but couldn't was killing me. Legs aching and shaking, cock drunk, and eyes stuck on that sexy face, that being the only thing from holding back another looming orgasm while he rocked my body with thrusts.
"Struggling again?" Noticing how focused I was on him, he let go of my throat to let me speak, not expecting me to say:
"Kiss me?"
Giving me a soft smile, his lips met mine rather softly despite his cock showing no mercy, pulling my hips off the edge more to hammer in faster, our kiss soon broken up by my tongue:
"You. So. G-goo, good-ngh!"
My mouth hung open, out of my mind as he had fucked me till I was stupid, a string of drool falling from the corner of my mouth, convulsing as my vision began blacking out, heart pounding in my head, and the dam that held my orgasm not able to hold up for much longer.
"I know," His lips felt so hot against my neck, holding my hips and bottoming out, his whisper a blessing upon me, "Cum."
"Oh fuck-" Every sense I could take in started rushing into me, my back suddenly snapping into an arch, tears searing in my eyes as I instinctively latched around him, mushing my face in his chest to muffle my salacious scream, "Kakashi!"
"Damn," He was panting softly, grunting as we could hear the squelching around his cock, my thighs suddenly soaked, dripping down to the desk and floor, slowly spreading my legs to see the mess his cock was still working in, slowing down each thrust.
"I...." My temple was coated in sweat, so hard to breathe, and I felt so heavy, tears leaking from the corners of my eyes as I started to cry, "I've never came so hard before."
Rubbing my back softly helped me ease down, his thumb cleaning my cheeks, "Quite obvious you've never been with someone as good as me."
That was a fact, and I surely wasn't going to make fun of his skill in the future after that; I nodded as I hugged him, "Never."

Kakashi Fluff Alphabet

A - Attractive (what they find attractive)
Your personality. That doesn’t mean that Kakashi thinks that you are ugly, not at all, he thinks you’re the most beautiful person he has ever laid his eyes upon. Rather, your personality is what drew Kakashi to you and what made him like you so much. The way you care for him, the way you can make him laugh and smile like no other, that is what made Kakashi fall in love with you. Your breathtaking beauty is an added bonus.
The same goes for you, too. You enjoy Kakashi’s nonchalance, with the hints of humour coming out every once in a while. When you first got to know Kakashi, his personality was quite guarded, he would barely let anyone near him. Save for Gai as the exception, you quickly noticed that Kakashi always put his guard up around other people, only letting it down when the said exception came around. Around Gai, he grew to be more open, letting out the occasional louder laugh. Befriending Kakashi certainly wasn’t easy, but getting to know him was one of the best things you ever did. While he certainly was a sight for sore eyes and very attractive indeed (you couldn’t deny that your heart skipped a few beats whenever you saw him), his personality ultimately drew you toward him. There was just something about him, you just couldn’t ignore, no matter how much you tried.
B - Baby (do they want a family?)
I’d say not up until after the Fourth Shinobi War, or maybe the time between the end of that and prior to him becoming Hokage. He would need to plan the baby/pregnancy, meaning a baby wouldn’t be a surprise. A child also comes along with doubts about being a father and being able to provide for his own family. What is essential, is that you are by his side and support him through all his worries, thoughts, and doubts. Kakashi needs a lot of convincing, for sure.
As his partner, you are willing to wait for Kakashi. Respect is one of the things you preach about a relationship, and respecting Kakashi is very important to you, as it is for him. You know that in return that he respects you and your boundaries too, so waiting for him isn’t a problem at all. If you don’t want a family of your own, however, then the respect the two of you share for one another goes a long way.
C - Cuddle (how they cuddle)
When cuddling, Kakashi is afraid to let you go. If he could, he would hold onto your for forever. He enjoys nuzzling his face into the crook of your neck, breathing in your familiar scent, and relaxing in your arms. He especially likes it when your hand runs through his hair, and when your fingertips graze the crown of his head. His arms meanwhile wrap around your figure, doing his best to hold you impossibly close.
On the other hand, when he gets to be the big spoon while cuddling, Kakashi likes it a lot when you rest your head on his chest. It’s soothing to feel the comfortable weight of your head there and the way your hand settle on his body. He wouldn’t trade the experience of getting to hold you close to him for anything else in this world.
D - Dates (what dates with them are like)
Dates with Kakashi are quiet and filled with love. They are so versatile, a date with Kakashi could be anything. One of your dates the two of you simply took a walk around the park, enjoying the presence of the other before the two of you decided to sit down on the bench for a while. There, you two had a heartfelt talk, your shoulder leaning against his and his head knocking against yours.
On another date of yours, the two of you first went and enjoyed some ramen, running into the gremlins of Team 7 along the way. You couldn’t continue, of course, without Naruto coming along once he saw where you two were headed. Sakura tagged along to ‘keep him from bothering him sensei’ as she said in her own words, but most likely just to spy on her sensei on a date. And as much as the brooding Sasuke couldn’t admit it, he was just as interested as his teammates were. While spending time with the kids on your date with Kakashi wasn’t the most ideal thing in the world, you had to admit, the gremlins had grown on you just as much as they had on Kakashi, so saying no wasn’t easy. Afterwards, you two did have some alone time, strolling around the village in shared solitude, enjoying the time you were able to spend together.
E - Everything (you are my…)
Love. You are Kakashi’s love, the one he loves the most in this world. What is there more to say? Kakashi can be a literal man if he wants to be, and while hesitant at the beginning of your relationship, he grows to be a person who tells you and others exactly how he feels about you.
Sweetheart. Kakashi is your sweetheart, the one who stole your heart from you. While he doesn’t look it on the outside, you know that on the inside he has a gentle heart, or as you would say, a sweet heart.
F - Feelings (when they realise that they love you)
Kakashi realised he was in love with you when every time he thought about you, someone mentioned you or he saw you, his heartbeat would pick up and a heat would spread across his cheeks. He’s not stupid, just very oblivious to his own feelings sometimes. So when he began reacting to you differently than he reacted to anyone else, Kakashi immediately knew that something was up. When around you, he was just so happy all the time and could barely hold back a smile. There was just something about you that made him feel like he could explode from all the joy you brought into his life. The final nail in the coffin was when Gai of all people picked up on Kakashi’s sudden change of mood whenever you were near. The ever-so-loud Gai made it his mission to remind his eternal rival of the love he found, so even if Kakashi had not realised on his own, Gai was right there to tell him.
G - Gentle (are they gentle?)
Without a doubt, yes. In contrary to the reputation Kakashi has within the ninja world as Kakashi the Friend Killer and Copy Cat Ninja, Kakashi has a gentle soul when it comes to you. Especially at the beginning of your relationship, Kakashi is quite hesitant. His touches are with the most precaution he can muster up and his Sharingan eye is always on the lookout for any signs of pain. Within your relationship, Kakashi not only grows as a person, but also learns to let loose sometimes, and what is gentle to you and where your boundaries are. That means that if he wants to, he can also get a little frisky sometimes, but for that to happen it takes time for him to fully trust you and for him to know that you can trust him in return.
H - Hand/hold (how do they hold you? Do they hold hands?)
When together, your hands are always intertwined. It’s almost as though Kakashi cannot get enough of you. He always has to touch you in some way to reassure himself that you are still here, by his side. On the days on which his self-doubts take over, Kakashi squeezes your hand to ground himself again. It’s difficult for him to not take your hand and intertwine it with his, to let you go.
You wouldn’t dare to let go of him, either. Holding onto his hand is almost ethereal, an experience that grounds you. He brings you a lot of comfort, for which you are very thankful in return.
I - Impression (first impression)
Kakashi thought that you were charming. With a smile that could rival the light of a thousand suns, Kakashi simply couldn’t tear his eyes away from you when he first saw you. Like a magnet, he gravitated toward you.
At first, you thought that there was something odd about Kakashi. Admittedly, your first encounter wasn’t one of the fairytales, but you quickly got to know the man behind his constant guard and that first impression vanished to the back of your mind.
J - Joker (do they joke a lot?)
If he wants to be, Kakashi can be quite the jokester. A tease or quip here and there, Kakashi’s jokes are usually followed by words of endearment. Hearing your laugh is worth any bad joke he has to crack.
K - Kisses (how they kiss)
Kakashi’s kisses are soft and quick at first, but grow into something more emotionally-bound slowly. Throughout the day, he is usually wearing his mask, so there is no time for him to pull it down and to kiss you on the lips as he would like to do. Instead, a quick kiss of his masked lips on your cheek will have to suffice. The same can be said for the beginning of your relationship. Kakashi’s hesitance when it comes to baring his face is rather obvious, but you don’t push him to step over his boundaries. In his own time and on his own terms, he grows more and more comfortable with the idea of kissing you on the lips, without his mask. His soft and quick kisses become more emotional, and grow longer and more intense. Make-out sessions become a more regular occurrence in the comfort of your home as Kakashi dares to do more and more and grows bolder (within his own limits, of course).
L - Little things (what little things they love)
Kakashi absolutely adores your smile. The way your lips tug up is just so infuriatingly infectious and makes him want to smile alongside you. Seeing the skin near your eyes crinkle is such a beautiful thing to Kakashi, a sight he could never tire of. With his Sharingan eye, he can save the image in his mind to look at over and over again, making sure that the sight of you smiling is never lost in his memories.
You love Kakashi’s hair. You enjoy running your hand through his hair when cuddling with him and seeing his hair practically glow as sunlight peeks through your curtains. It is just so fluffy when freshly washed, and hearing his cute snores as he falls asleep in your arms is an added bonus.
M - Memory (favourite memory together)
There are many memories with you together that Kakashi would consider to be his favourite. His all-time favourite, however? Kakashi could remember the memory as vividly as the day it happened. You were there, laying beside him as the sun illuminated your features, giving them a beautiful glow. Your (eye color) eyes were shining in the sunlight, the shades of (color) as mesmerizing as ever. His hand reached out to touch you, his fingers gently caressing the hot skin of your cheek. From how close he was laying next to you in your shared bed, he could see the pores on your skin, every little imperfection that made you you, the one he loved the most. Kakashi leaned toward you and pressed a soft kiss to the place where his fingers had just been, lingering there for a moment to relish in his closeness to you. He could smell your perfume, the same one you had put on a mere hour earlier, and the intoxicating scent of your body wash clinging to your frame. Your laughter rang in his ears and Kakashi relished in the sound, closing his eyes as he moved closer to you, his skin making more contact with yours. “I love you,” He heard you whisper. The words made his heart race, pink dusting his cheeks. “so so much.”
N - Nickel (do they spoil?)
Kakashi totally spoils you whenever he can. Whenever he is on a mission with his gremlins of Team Seven, Kakashi makes sure to bring little trinkets home. Whether it is a little snow globe from the Land of Snow, or the most delicious food from Sumogakure. Kakashi always manages to bring something with him, it is all worth it to see you react to the gracious gift.
After going on long missions and spending a long time apart, Kakashi makes sure to spoil you with a lot of quality time. As much as you miss him, he also misses you, so he compensates for the time you couldn’t spend together. That means going out to eat something together, sleeping in together in your shared bed or going on long walks to talk about what he had missed while he was gone.
O - Orange (what color reminds them of you)
Yellow, you make his world a brighter place than it was without you in it. It’s that simple.
P - Petnames (what petnames they use)
Love. Just as mentioned before, you are his love. Over time, Kakashi has grown used to calling you love (something he picked up from one of his Icha Icha books, not that he would ever dare to tell you). The petname for you just stuck around.
Darling. You don’t exactly remember when you began calling Kakashi by that petname, but calling him that petname just feels right when using it.
Q - Questions ( what are the questions they’re always asking?)
“Is there anything I can do for you, love?” The ever-so caring Kakashi is always making sure that you are alright and that your needs are satisfied. Caring for and about you comes naturally to him, so he never hesitates when asking you that.
“You know that I love you, right?” While not exactly a question, Kakashi is a man with many self-doubts. Every once in a while after a particularly difficult mission or event, Kakashi needs you to reassure him, he needs to know that you love him. You are able to read the signs of his spiralling self-doubts easily and know exactly what to say and how to comfort him.
R - Remember (their favourite memory of each other)
You two share your favourite memory of each other, it’s the first time you confessed your love to one another. For neither of you it needs much explaining as to why it is your favourite memory.
S - Sad ( how they cheer themselves/others up)
As explained previously, quality time and reasurements are the way in your relationship to go. You two need each other, although it is important to note that sometimes, both of you need time apart to calm down. While your shared time is appreciated, there are matters one can only resolve on their own, and that’s something both you and Kakashi learned over the course of your relationship.
T - Talking ( what they love to talk about)
As much as Kakashi does not want to admit it, he loves to talk about his little gremlins when returning from training them or from a mission. As with his other previous teams he had failed, Kakashi was hesitant when it came to passing them. But the gleam in his eyes when he finally did was incomparable to anything else. There was hope in his eyes, one that hadn’t been there before he left to meet the new Team Seven at the academy. It wasn’t until later you found out why exactly he believed in them so much when he told you who they reminded him of. Ever since then, there has been a special place in his heart reserved just for them, even if he never did say that aloud.
Kakashi also enjoys to talk about his favourite piece of literature: Icha Icha. The book almost seems to be glued into his hands, as you had noted at the beginning of your relationship. On some days, you doubted you could even separate your dear partner from the book, almost like they were one entity. If you are a fan of the book, talking to him about it comes easily to you. If you are not so impressed by the work, listening to Kakashi talk about it is more of a courtesy. You are well aware of how much it means to him, so you don’t mind listening.
U - Universe ( a metaphor)
“Love is a spice in many tastes, a dizzying array of textures and moments.”
V - Very ( thoughts about each other)
Kakashi loves you because you are the rock in the stormiest of seas. You are the one holding him above water and keeping him from sinking.
Kakashi is the light of your life even on the darkest of days. The mere sound of his voice can brighten up your day unlike anything else can.
W - Why ( reasons why they love you)
Kakashi loves you because of who you are. You are the person who had been missing from his life, the one he unknowingly was searching for, like a puzzle looking for its final piece. Kakashi adores your personality, the way you laugh and always know how to cheer him up. He loves your smile and your little quirks, the things that make you so unique. He couldn’t even summarize all the things he loved about you if he tried, the list would be too long in his opinion.
X - Xylophone (what’s their song?)
All of Me by John Legend.
Y - You (what you are to them)
What was missing in his life. As cheesy as it sounds, up until Kakashi met you, it felt as though there was something missing in his life, that was you. Like a missing puzzle piece that fits perfectly, you came into his life, and luckily for him, never left.
Z - Zebra ( what pet they want to have)
I mean, the answer is quite obvious, really. While Kakashi wouldn’t exactly be against you wanting to get a pet, his ninken certainly wouldn’t be the most enthusiastic upon hearing the news. Being in a relationship with Kakashi meant that you were a part of the family from now, a part of their family specifically. And sure, ninken are ninja dogs trained for combat and to protect their summoner, treating them like pets was something you and Kakashi regularly did. It was difficult not to with their cute, little faces staring back at you ever time they were summoned or the way they behaved like any other dog would when being offered a treat. So, hearing that you were planning to get another pet, they wouldn’t take the news lightly. Some may say that Kakashi’s ninken have a small jealousy problem, and you wouldn’t beg to differ.

Write a story about Kakashi falling in love with single mother who has daughter 🌷
Tumblr media
A Blossoming Love
In the bustling streets of Konohagakure, a village steeped in history and tradition, Kakashi Hatake was a man who had long walked the path of a solitary ninja. Behind his ever-present mask was a sense of mystery that intrigued those who crossed his path. He was a master of his craft, respected by many, but his heart remained a realm uncharted by love. Kakashi never imagined that love would come knocking at his door in such an unexpected way, but that was until he met (Y/N).
(Y/N) was a single mother, a woman of incredible strength and resilience. She possessed a bright smile that could light up even the darkest of days, and her heart was filled to the brim with love. It was a love not just for her precious daughter, Sakura, but for everyone she met, friends and strangers alike. They had recently moved to Konohagakure, looking for a fresh start, and life had not been easy for them.
As a single mother, (Y/N) juggled the responsibilities of parenting and making ends meet. She had a grace and charm that were hard to ignore, and her life was filled with a quiet elegance. Her daughter Sakura, with her bright eyes and pigtails, was the center of her world, and their bond was stronger than any storm they'd weathered.
One sunny day, Kakashi was strolling through the bustling marketplace, his solitary nature pushing him to seek the comfort of anonymity amidst the crowd. He was on his way to pick up some groceries when he heard a burst of laughter that caught his attention.
Following the sound, he discovered a small crowd gathered around a makeshift stage. At the center of the attention was (Y/N), dressed in vibrant colors that contrasted with the traditional ninja attire. She was performing a series of magic tricks, making colorful ribbons appear out of thin air and coins disappear with a flourish. Kakashi watched in awe, captivated by the joy on Sakura's face and the grace with which (Y/N) moved her hands.
After the performance, Kakashi approached (Y/N) with a small smile hidden behind his mask. "Impressive," he said, his voice carrying a note of genuine admiration. "You certainly have a way with magic, (Y/N)."
(Y/N) looked up, her eyes meeting his one visible eye. Her own eyes held a mix of surprise and warmth. "Thank you! I do what I can to make Sakura smile. It's been just the two of us for a while."
Kakashi was drawn to her warmth and humility, and it intrigued him. "It's clear you love her very much," he replied, the corners of his eyes crinkling in a small smile behind his mask. "And she adores you."
(Y/N) blushed and looked at Sakura, who was now happily playing with a group of children who had gathered around her. "She's my world," she said softly, her voice filled with a blend of love and pride.
As they chatted, Kakashi discovered that (Y/N) had moved to Konohagakure for a safer and more stable life for Sakura. She had faced many hardships but remained resilient and hopeful, and this resilience was a quality that Kakashi admired deeply.
Kakashi found himself returning to the marketplace more frequently, not just to see (Y/N) perform her magic tricks but to spend time with her and Sakura. Over time, he began helping them with groceries, escorting them home safely, and offering his assistance in various small but thoughtful ways.
The more they got to know each other, the deeper Kakashi's feelings grew. It wasn't just (Y/N)'s beauty and grace that drew him in, but her unwavering love for her daughter, her kindness, and her resilience in the face of life's challenges.
One evening, under the glow of the setting sun, Kakashi finally mustered the courage to confess his feelings. They were sitting on a park bench as Sakura played nearby. "You know, (Y/N), I've enjoyed getting to know you and Sakura," Kakashi began, his words measured and sincere. "I've come to care about both of you deeply."
(Y/N) turned to him with a soft smile, a blush gracing her cheeks. "Kakashi, I feel the same way. You've been a wonderful friend to us."
With Sakura's playful encouragement, they decided to go on their first official date. Kakashi took them to a charming park where Sakura could play to her heart's content, and they shared a picnic under the shade of a large oak tree.
The date was filled with laughter and heartwarming moments, and it felt like the start of a beautiful journey. Kakashi's mysterious and solitary existence was slowly transformed by the presence of (Y/N) and Sakura. He found himself stepping out of the shadows, and his world became brighter with every passing day.
Their love story continued to blossom, and Kakashi, who had always been an enigmatic ninja, found his heart opening up to (Y/N) and her daughter. He marveled at the strength and resilience (Y/N) displayed every day and adored Sakura's infectious laughter. With each passing day, Kakashi's love grew stronger.
As the days turned into months and then years, Kakashi, (Y/N), and Sakura formed a beautiful family. Kakashi embraced the role of a loving father figure, and the three of them shared countless cherished moments, from Sakura's first day at the Ninja Academy to picnics in the park, cozy evenings at home, and the joyful celebrations of holidays.
Their life was filled with love, and every day was a testament to the power of their bond. It wasn't just a love story; it was a story of family, resilience, and transformation. Kakashi's heart, which had long been concealed beneath the mask of his stoic nature, had found its true home with (Y/N) and Sakura.
As Kakashi, (Y/N), and Sakura embarked on the journey of life together, they faced challenges and triumphs, but their love was the unshakable foundation that kept them strong. Sakura grew into a bright, kind-hearted young girl, and Kakashi was there to support and guide her at every step.
Their days were filled with shared laughter, quiet moments, and the warmth of each other's company. Kakashi had found not just love but a sense of belonging that he had never thought possible. He had found his place in the world, beside (Y/N) and Sakura.
And so, their story continued, an enduring tale of love, family, and the power of resilience and kindness. The mysterious ninja with a hidden past had become the devoted partner and father who cherished every moment with (Y/N) and Sakura.
In the end, their love story was a testament to the fact that love can be found in the most unexpected places and that it has the power to transform not just individuals but entire lives. Love had finally found Kakashi Hatake, not in the shadows or the battlefield, but in the laughter and warmth of (Y/N) and her sweet daughter, Sakura.
With love, laughter, and Sakura's radiant smile, their hearts entwined in a bond that was even more magical than any trick (Y/N) had ever performed. And in their embrace, he discovered a love that was timeless and enduring
, a love that could weather any storm, and a love that would only grow stronger with time.
As the seasons changed and the village of Konohagakure transformed with the passing years, Kakashi, (Y/N), and Sakura continued to build a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Kakashi, the once-mysterious ninja, found himself transforming not only into a loving father figure but also a devoted partner. He showed up for every school event and cheered Sakura on in her training, even if it meant sitting through countless hours of lecture and practice. Kakashi's pride in Sakura's accomplishments was evident in his smiles and words of encouragement, and it meant the world to both (Y/N) and Sakura.
(Y/N) and Sakura, in turn, brought a newfound warmth to Kakashi's life. The solitude he had embraced for so long gave way to a loving family that he cherished more than anything. (Y/N)'s kindness and grace had a way of brightening the darkest corners of Kakashi's heart, and Sakura's energy and enthusiasm were a daily reminder of the joy that life could bring.
They celebrated birthdays with homemade cakes and beautifully wrapped presents. Sakura was known for her artistic talent, and she often crafted personalized cards for special occasions, each one a treasure that Kakashi kept tucked away.
Holidays were a particularly special time in their household. With every passing season, the family's bond grew stronger. On Christmas, they decorated the tree together, and Sakura hung ornaments with Kakashi's help while (Y/N) prepared a delicious holiday feast. Easter brought egg hunts in the park, and every spring, the cherry blossoms in Konohagakure served as a backdrop for their family outings.
The annual Konoha Festival was a highlight, and they never missed it. They would stroll through the bustling festival grounds, playing games and savoring street food. Kakashi's usually unreadable face would light up with amusement as Sakura tried her hand at every game, always eager to win a prize for her family.
Summer vacations often included trips to the nearby beach, where they built sandcastles, swam in the ocean, and savored the simple pleasure of being together. Kakashi would watch from a distance as Sakura's laughter echoed along the shoreline, and he couldn't help but smile, knowing that he was part of a family that brought so much happiness into his life.
Kakashi, (Y/N), and Sakura's bond was not just limited to the light-hearted moments. They supported each other during life's challenges as well. When Sakura faced the trials of the Ninja Academy, Kakashi was there to offer guidance and training, sharing his vast knowledge and wisdom. And when (Y/N) encountered difficulties in her work or personal life, Kakashi was a pillar of strength, always ready to lend a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on.
But perhaps the most touching moments were the ones shared in the quiet spaces of their home. Kakashi, the man who had once hidden his emotions behind a mask, now felt comfortable enough to reveal his true self to (Y/N) and Sakura. He read bedtime stories, helped with homework, and sometimes, they'd gather in the living room for movie nights, with Sakura picking the films and (Y/N) preparing popcorn.
In those precious moments, as they sat together on the couch, Kakashi felt a sense of completeness he had never known. It was a love that enveloped him, cradled him, and gave him a sense of belonging he had long yearned for.
As the years passed and Sakura continued to grow into a remarkable young woman, Kakashi watched with pride and affection. She was strong, kind-hearted, and just as determined as her mother. Sakura had a fierce love for both (Y/N) and Kakashi, and she held them close to her heart, knowing that she was blessed with a family that was more special than anything she could have ever imagined.
The love that had blossomed in the midst of the bustling marketplace had grown into something beautiful and enduring. Kakashi, (Y/N), and Sakura had built a life filled with love and meaning, a life that was a testament to the power of resilience and the transformative force of love.
Their story was one of family, of love, and of the enduring bond that can be found in the most unexpected places. Kakashi had not only found love but a sense of purpose and belonging that had transformed his life in ways he could have never predicted.
And so, the man who had once been a solitary ninja with a hidden past had become a loving partner and father who cherished every moment with (Y/N) and Sakura. With love, laughter, and Sakura's radiant smile, their hearts were entwined in a bond that was even more magical than any trick (Y/N) had ever performed.
Their story was a testament to the fact that love could change the course of one's life, that it had the power to transform not just individuals but entire families. Kakashi had finally found the love he had long searched for, not in the shadows or the battlefield, but in the laughter and warmth of (Y/N) and her sweet daughter, Sakura.
And with each passing day, their love grew, a testament to the fact that love, like the cherry blossoms of Konohagakure, could blossom and endure, bringing beauty and joy into their lives for years to come.

Tumblr media
When you joined the ANBU as a teenager, you never thought you’d forge such strong relationships. Tenzo quickly became your confidante, though he was a little more shy. He was someone you knew you could rely on no matter what. But it was your captain that really took you under his wing. Kakashi may have been cold sometimes, but with you he showed much compassion. As the years went on, the three of you only grew closer. Well into adulthood, the three of you still see each other a lot. You all make it a point to have some drinks together.
That’s why when the three of you got to your place after some drinks at the bar, none of you were super surprised when you began making out with each other. It was a bit of a drunken, sloppy mess. But you just couldn’t get enough of these two. It would seem that they feel exactly the same. You settle on Yamato’s lap, grinding against him.
“Fuck,” Kakashi says as he admires you both. “So beautiful.”
Yamato shudders softly, “She’s so fucking gorgeous, senpai.”
The usage of this title makes Kakashi’s cock rock hard in his pants. His two subordinates are here making out in front of him, and he can’t help but be so aroused. He begins palming at himself, growing more turned on as the seconds pass.
You can’t help but moan as Yamato’s hands soothe up and down your sides, only to settle right on your tits. He squeezes them tentatively, making sure this is all still okay for you. Yamato is so gentle and soft, and you know he’s always been this way with you. Soon, you find yourself removing your tight little dress and you’re left in only your bra and panties.
Kakashi moves up closer behind you, “You have no idea how long we’ve been waiting for this one, sweetheart.”
Yamato chuckles, “He’s right.”
You swallow hard as you feel Kakashi’s lips on your neck. The two of them begin to stimulate you. Yamato kisses your lips roughly, making you gasp. Kakashi begins playing with your tits now; pulling and pinching your hardened nipples. Yamato’s tongue slides into your mouth, feeling like velvet against your own. You let your eyes flutter shut as you quickly become a slave to this pleasure.
“I think we should both take her,” Kakashi finally says.
“Of course, senpai. I think we’ve both waited long enough for her.”
Kakashi gathers you up into his arms, leaving Yamato on the couch. He brings you into your bedroom, and you can see Yamato enter the room from your position on the bed. With a few swift movements, Kakashi has you completely undressed. He grunts as he looks at your beautiful body. Both of them had seen you wearing skimpy outfits before, but neither of them had ever seen you fully nude.
“Senpai,” Yamato says a little breathlessly. “She is so beautiful.”
“I know, Tenzo.” Kakashi groans. The resurgence of Yamato’s old codename makes you quiver. It’s been a while since you’ve heard it.
Both men approach each other, and you watch as Kakashi kisses Yamato. They begin to undress each other, moaning as the other caresses a body part. You watch with your mouth practically watering. Once they undress completely, you get the chance to admire the two of them. Yamato is certainly more beefy, which makes his cock thicker than Kakashi’s. Kakashi is leaner, but he is still the epitome of beauty. His cock, with its sizable girth, is very long. Longer than you’ve ever had.
“Heh, look how cute she is like this,” Kakashi teases, and your cheeks burn at being caught checking them out.
Yamato chuckles, “she really is adorable.”
They climb onto the bed, and Kakashi spreads your thighs. Yamato settles next to him, and they both settle on their stomachs. You’re so aroused as you watch them make out at first, and you can feel them getting closer to your pussy. It quivers the moment their tongues dance across the sensitive and soaked skin. All three of you begin moaning, and you swear you can see stars in your vision.
“Sweetest little pussy,” Kakashi grunts. Yamato answers with a whine and you know he shares the same sentiments.
Yamato whines again, “She is so good.”
You let your hands reach down and your fingers tangle in their hair. Everything about this is so sweet and sensual. A deep tightening in your stomach makes you aware of the building orgasm. It’s going to wreck you, you know this. But you also know they are far from finished with you. A few more swipes of their tongues on your clit, and you begin panting as the pleasure builds and builds until you fall off the edge. A cry of love erupts from you, and your thighs begin shuddering and shaking. Yamato and Kakashi grunt as your juices soak the bottom half of their faces. They only pull away when you’re gently pushing them away.
“I think she is ready now,”Kakashi finally says. He lays down on the bed and quickly maneuvers you on top of him.
He begins grinding against you, giving you the chance to feel his impressive erection. You moan as it slips between your folds. It’s so long and quite thick. Then he guides the head to your little hole, and he pushes in slowly. An animalistic growl rumbles through him as he finally bottoms out. You’re tighter and warmer than he anticipated.
“She’s so perfect, Tenzo.” Kakashi moans.
Yamato strokes his cock as he watches your former ANBU captain fuck you, “I want some too, senpai.”
Kakashi chuckles breathily, “You’ll get some too,”
You whine as his cock almost splits you in two. You’re glad you got to cum first, otherwise you’d never be able to take all of this. Yamato settles behind you and he begins rubbing your clit as Kakashi begins fucking you at a fast and deep pace. Moans and whimpers fall from your lips as your little walls flutter wildly around the cock deep inside of you.
Another cry is pulled from your lips as Yamato’s fingers slip into you as well as Kakashi’s cock. He grunts something sexual under his breath, but with your mind so clouded with lust, you barely can make out what it is. He begins pumping in time with Kakashi’s thrusts. And when he pulls those fingers from you so roughly, you gasp in shock. You barely have time to react before you feel his cock pushing at your hole, wanting to bully its way inside just like Kakashi’s cock. Soon it does, and you’re left feeling the most divine pleasure mixing with some slight pain.
“Oh fuck,” Yamato grunts. “Senpai, it feels so good.”
Kakashi chuckles, “And you, princess? Do you think it feels good?”
You nod your head eagerly, “Feels really fucking good, senpai.”
He laughs and makes a comment about you always having such a filthy mouth. He pulls you in a kiss, almost in an effort to hush you. He is so in love right now, with the both of you. To Kakashi, this is purely heaven. Two of some of the most important people in his life are here with him, sharing something so romantic and so precious. It’s the most intimate moment in his life, and Kakashi feels tears sting his eyes. He continues to kiss you as he and Yamato thrust deeply into you.
You feel your walls beginning to clench around the both of them, and they are panting right along with you. Yamato mumbles something against your neck, and you can just barely make out something about him being so close. Kakashi moans louder, and you can feel yourself getting so close to the edge. He coaxes you with sweet words to let go and soon Yamato is joining in.
The three of you move together, but your body tenses as the waves of pleasure wash over you. The clenching and squeezing from your tight walls proves too much for Yamato. He’s the second to let go, moaning loudly as he paints your insides white. Kakashi follows soon after, grunting at how beautiful you both are. You all grind against one another in an attempt to prolong the sensations.
Eventually you all come down from the high, and you settle against one another. Kakashi can’t even explain this happiness surging through him. He finally has you both right where you belong.

Random thought:
Imagine y/n being a child-bearing able person who during the pain invasion in Konoha was pregnant right and like mere hours before the invasion goes into labor and then pain comes and destroy Konoha
Kakashi being your lovely and dutiful husband or boyfriend idk y/n chooses. Has to leave and then in those sad moments of anticipated to be his last breath, his only wish is for you and their child gets taken care of properly. Not the way Naruto and Sasuke were left to their own accord.
Idk if that made sense but it’s was an angsty thought I got
….maybe future imagine? 🤷‍♀️

thank u so much !!! i don't know if I did this justice but I tried my best !! enjoy! this is 1927 words
Rules (Kakashi Hatake x Reader) -
***18+ only! sexual content ahead, minors dni***
It had started off simple. When the two of you agreed to go down this road, you had agreed on specific rules.  The main rule is that at any time, either party could stop this. This was to be exclusive, meaning that if one of you began seeing someone else, your nightly endeavors would end. However, the most important ground rule Kakashi had laid out, you had broken months ago.
“If one of us begins having feelings towards one another, we have to back out of this.” He had said the first night. “I don’t want to lose you as a friend.”
So, it began. You and Kakashi were friends with benefits. And boy, were they benefits. Every night, pending neither of you were busy out on a mission or training, the two of you met in the streets of Konoha. For months, these nightly meetings were conducted solely in your apartment. But as time continued, Kakashi slowly opened and began leading you to his apartment instead.
Other than the rules the two of you had laid out between yourselves, you had your own set of rules you began to follow: no staying overnight, minimal aftercare, no wearing his clothes, etc. You didn’t know when, but sometime during this deal you had completely forgotten all of these. You suddenly remembered one morning as you stood at Kakashi’s oven top, cooking him his favourite breakfast while wearing one of his t-shirts.
You had realized then you were totally and utterly screwed. You had broken everyone of your secret rules, and this had led you to breaking Kakashi’s most important rule. You had caught feelings for him. Part of you was ready to back out that morning that you came to your realization. But the selfish part of you that craved his touch every night forbade it.
So, the next day, you met Kakashi in the street. Pretending as if you hadn’t realized that you were falling in love with Kakashi Hatake. A shinobi’s life is a short one, might as well enjoy this while I still have it.
You genuinely thought this was something you could keep quiet for the rest of your life. You didn’t even tell your best friends the revelation you had. Scared that if you told them, it would make it even more real. ‘Maybe they’d tell Kakashi, and he’d end this all and never speak to me again.’
It was one day, in the late spring, when Kakashi and you returned from a mission. Although you were a formidable shinobi, having to carry anything for days back to the village was exhausting. Let alone the fact that you had a full-grown man on your back. He was broken, beaten, and battered. When you finally reached the Hidden Leaf, and Kakashi was safely being tended at the hospital, you shuffled your way home.
The hot shower was a blessing after the weeks long mission, but the blood running into the drain was a cruel reminder of the life you lived. The shinobi life was a short one. Shinobi didn’t die from old age, they died in battle. Many shinobi didn’t even get to experience the most beautiful things in life, getting married, starting a family, watching their children grow old. It was then, the realization that Kakashi could have died during this mission without knowing that you were in love with him, that the gears began to turn in your head. You had to tell him how you felt.
You sat by his side for weeks in the hospital and helped in his recovery. Though he swore you were pestering him by staying there, every time you turned to leave, he made an excuse for you to stay.
“That plant Gai brought me needs to be watered, are you really going to make me get out of my hospital bed to water it?”
“My physical therapist said I couldn’t use my arms today, so you’ll have to hand feed me.”
When the day came that he was discharged from the hospital, you had helped him home and treated him to take-out. The two of you sat around his dining table in a comfortable silence as you ate. When the two of you were finished, you collected the dishes and brought them to the kitchen sink. Not long after you began washing the dishes, you felt Kakashi’s body press into yours from behind. His arms wrapped around your waist as he nuzzled his face into the crook of your neck.
“Thank you.” He spoke quietly. “For everything you’ve done for me over the past few weeks.”
A light blush began to form on your cheeks. “Someone has to take care of you, since you won’t do it.” You teased, rinsing off the last dish before turning around to face him.
Your lips parted in slight shock at seeing him without his mask so willingly in front of you. Even after all this time, you still felt awed by his soft and beautiful features. You raised your hand to cradle his cheek as he leaned into it, sighing contently. After a few moments you raised on your tippy toes to meet his lips with yours. He responded immediately; hands wrapped around your waist as he deepened the kiss to his liking. He parted his lips, causing you to do the same as his tongue slowly tangled with yours.
Soon, the kiss began to escalate. You dragged your nails down his clothed chest as he let out a low groan from the feeling. He responded by lowering one of his hands and grasping the soft flesh below your waist. All it took was one moan from your lips for him to break the kiss. The two of you were panting as he wrapped his hands around your thighs and place you onto the edge of the kitchen counter.
“Be careful Kakashi, they said you still need to rest and take it easy.” You said quickly
“Missed your soft lips.” He said while completely ignoring your words, dragging his thumb along your bottom lip before tugging on it slightly.
Your lips connected harshly once again, before Kakashi began kissing a trail down your neck. You let out a content sigh as his tongue met your sweet spot, something you didn’t even know you had until you had begun this with Kakashi. It felt as though a fever had broken out across your skin with how hot you felt under the copy-ninja’s touch. You pushed him forward slightly as your arms crossed to take off your shirt in a way you hoped was at least slightly attractive. You threw the shirt across the floor before moving your hand behind you impatiently to unclasp your bra. You just wanted his mouth everywhere and anywhere, as soon as possible.
His hand quickly grasped the wrist behind you and pulled it away. “Let me take it off for you, sweetheart.”
Your hands dropped to your sides as you allowed his hand to trail up and down your back. His ministrations began once again, kissing down your neck and now further down the valley of your breasts. The clasp snapped undone, and you shrugged the straps off, letting the cloth fall to his feet. His soft lips quickly latched themselves around your left nipple while his fingers rubbed and twisted the other. Hot breathy moans fell out of your lips at every sensation from his mouth and fingers. He released your nipple with a ‘pop’ sound and trailed his tongue between your breasts to reach your right nipple.
“Kakashi.” You moaned, as he repeated the same actions to opposite sides. “Please- “
He released and looked up at you through hooded eyelids, “Please what?”
Your head lolled onto your right shoulder as his hands moved south. He began gently palming the inside of your thighs, just one more inch over and he would be right where you wanted him. His grip tightened suddenly, and you let out a gasp in response. “Tell me what you want and its yours baby.”
“You, Kashi, need you so badly.” You watched as his pupils dilated slightly, before he let out a shuttered breath.
You lifted your hips slightly, signalling him to help remove the last two articles of your clothes. He quickly and messily pulled down your shorts and underwear together. You watched as he opened his left eye, unveiling his sharingan. “You’re so beautiful, so perfect.”
You leaned forward, grasping at his shirt as he raised his arms for you to pull it over his head. His pants followed by being unbuttoned and dropped to the ground around his ankles, his boxers joining soon after.
His lips clashed against yours in wet and hot kiss as he erratically jerked his hand back and forth over his hard erection. He continued kissing you passionately while positioning the head of his cock to rub against your soaking folds. You moaned loudly into his mouth as he rubbed over your clit.
He detached himself from your lips and leaned his forehead against yours, panting heavily. “Need you now, can’t wait any longer.” He looked into your eyes, wordlessly asking for your permission to continue. Nodding your head, you pushed your hips forward.
Kakashi’s breath hitched as he pulled you forward by the thighs, and position began pushing his cock through your slick folds. Both of you let out loud moans as he thrusted himself all the way in.
“Missed this tight pretty pussy.” Pausing for a moment, he leaned his forehead onto your shoulder. “-m not going to last long sweetheart, been so long and you feel so goddamn good wrapped around me.”
Your head grew dizzy with his vulgar speech. Soon he began slowly moving his hips back and forth, pulling himself almost all the way out before sharply thrusting back in. One of his hands release your thigh as he lazily began brushing his thumb against your swollen clit.
He continued his actions, while intermittently beginning to quicken his thrusting pace. You felt the knot begin to form in the bottom of your belly while your moans grew louder. “Faster Kashi, I-I’m so- Oh. I’m so close.”
The silver haired man immediately began thrusting faster into you, to the point his balls were loudly slapping against your behind. His thumb began pressing harder into your clit. “Cum for me then, be my good girl and cum all over my cock.”
“God, I’m cumming Kakashi. Fuck! - “All it took was two more thrusts before you felt yourself let go, Kakashi right there with you as he groaned while fucking his hot cum inside of you. Your toes were curling as you chanted Kakashi’s name repeatedly.
As you both came down from your highs, you drunkenly spoke. “Mm- Kashi. Love you.”
Your body stilled immediately as your brain caught up with the words that came out of your mouth. You did say you wanted to tell him. No- this was definitely not the right time-
Your eyes slowly looked up to Kakashi’s shocked face, “You l-love me?” Swallowing thickly, you nodded once. There’s no going back from here anyway.
“I’m sorry Kakashi, I know you said that we needed to stop if one of us started to have feelings. But I...” You began saying, only to be cut off by Kakashi’s chuckling.
You watched as his head tilted to the side and his lips turned upward as his eyes closed into half moons.
“Well, I’m glad that I’m not the only one who broke the rules here.”

Pairing: Kakashi hatake x reader
Warning: cats, implied smut.
It was a fine day. After a hard time of practising team 7 decided to have ramen. The team was headed towards Naruto's favourite ramen shop, Ichiraku's.
On the way back home, Sakura spotted a stray kitty.
"Kakashi sensei, wait up." Sakura said, lifting the cat in her hands. Everyone came to a halt.
She examined it thoroughly in her hands. She noticed it was so weak. "We can't just leave this cat here. We need to take it home and give it treatment."
"Yeah, then take it home, Sakura." Naruto said.
"I can't. My mom will kick me out if she knows I brought a cat inside our house. Naruto, why don't you take it home?"
"I can't. I don't know how to take care of a cat." He said sheepishly.
"Sasuke?"
"I'm sorry but I have more responsibilities than taking care of that cat." Sasuke said. But deep down he wanted to take it home and cure it. But he wasn't sure how.
"But we can't just abandon it here." Naruto said. "Kakashi sensei, why don't you take it home with you?"
"Who? Me?" Kakashi wondered.
“Yes.”
“I- I” kakashi hesitated. Before he could say anything, Naruto pushed the cat to his hand. He wanted to take it home but..
__________________________________________________________________________________
“Honey, I'm home.” Kakashi said, his voice was a bit shaky. He had the cat hidden behind his back. He entered his house and searched for his wife. But she was nowhere to be found. He let out a relaxing sigh.he rushed to his bedroom and hid it in the closet. He kept a bowl of water and a bowl of milk for it.\
“Be a good kitty and be silent. Okay? Stay here.” he said to the cats and it meowed back.
“Kashi, you are home.” you said as you entered the house.
Kakashi closed the closet door but He kept the door a bit open so the cat wouldn't suffocate.
He ran out of the bedroom to greet you.he hugged you and kissed on your cheeks.
“y/n, I’m so hungry. Is there anything to eat?”
“No,but I can fix something for you.”
“Yeah, that would be nice.”
“But before that I need to change my clothes. I hope you can hold your hunger till then.” you said and started to head towards the bedroom.
He started to panic.
You walked past him. He grabs your wrist, spins you around and pulls you into his chest. You gasp at his sudden moment.
“I've changed my mind. I’m not hungry anymore.”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah, I'm hungry for something else.” he whispered. He slowly slides his finger from your lips to your neck. You let out a shaky breath.
“Not- not now. later . I really wanna get out of this dress…”
“Yeah, I really want you out of this dress.” he interrupts you.
“And get into something else.” you finish your sentence. You push him away with a kiss on his cheeks.
You move past him and open the bedroom door. Every step you took towards the closet, Kakashi's heart slowly stopped beating.
Suddenly Kakashi was behind you, hugging you tightly.
“Darling , what is it with you today?” you chuckled softly.
“I just need you so much.”
“We can do whatever you want tomorrow. I'm so tired today.”
You reached for the closet before Kakashi could stop you, you opened it.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.” you screamed looking at the tiny little kitty.
“Meow.” the kitty purred. You clumsily walked towards you and sat in front of you.
“Kakashi, I'm going to kill you.” you said. “What do you think about bringing a cat home without my permission? This is the 13th time this week.if you keep doing this we will have no space to live in this household. Already our guest room is full of dogs and cats.where will we keep this?”
“Oofff” kakashi shrugged.
“You are sleeping outside today.”
You picked the cat in your hand and kicked Kakashi out of the room.
“The kitty…”
“He will be sleeping super comfy on the bed tonight. You don't have to worry.”
“Won't you be, my kitty kitty?” you said changing your voice.
“My kitty kitty?”
You closed the bedroom. You changed your clothes and climbed to the bed. The cat was already asleep.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An hour passed and you couldn't sleep without your husband beside you. You went out of the room. Kakashi was deep asleep on the couch. You slowly climbed on him without waking him up. He unconsciously adjusted his position and wrapped his arms around him. You kissed his chest and laid your head on him.
“Couldn't sleep without me, y/n?” Kakashi whispered.
“Shut up, I'm still mad.”
He chuckled.
“Meow.”
You both looked down to find the cat standing beside the sofa.kakashi picked him up and placed him on top of you.
You all fell into a comfortable sleep cuddled up with each other.

Shikamaru was, by nature, a very observant person.
It was a skill that he'd honed with years of training and—despite his best efforts to the contrary—hard work. Asuma-Sensei had picked up on his skill-set very early in their training and decided that he should focus on reconnaissance and strategy rather than the physical regiment that SHIELD tended to favor for new recruits.
He'd quickly been assigned his first mission—one that he'd been a pivotal part of despite his older team members initially underestimating his skill-set. They'd been unimpressed by his less-than-enthusiastic attitude, but that impression changed when Shikamaru was able recognized a trap that they'd very nearly walked into.
Now he was praised as a prodigy for surpassing his peers and becoming an agent before most were even halfway done with their training.
He hadn't meant to complete his training so early. It was a pure accident that he was now having to deal with the consequences of—said consequences being way more work than he'd signed up for.
When Sasuke had asked him to come help Kakashi's team with a "shogi-related problem," he thought it'd be a very welcome break from the incessant cycle of mission after mission.
He probably should've known better.
Sakura had explained it to him along these lines: you'd lost your memories due to some sort of shock-based brainwashing. You'd also become convinced that Kakashi was the one who had done this to you; however, the reasons and logic behind this could not be disclosed to him. His only job was to play shogi with you and give you the space to open up and become less resistant to changing and unfamiliar emotions. The supposed result of this would be calming your mind enough that your memories could resurface with more ease than if you were feeling distressed and compelled to shut down.
Sasuke had assured him that he'd done research to back up their hypothesis that this would have any affect on you. Shikamaru was skeptical, but playing shogi beat going on actual missions.
Playing shogi with you was, admittedly, more fun than he'd expected. You picked it up shockingly quickly—probably indicating a past familiarity with it despite your initial confusion at seeing the board and pieces. By the third game, you knew the roles of each piece on the board. By the fifth, you'd already developed a fairly solid strategy. By the twentieth, he was beginning to get nervous that you'd beat him.
It was in between these games that you received visitors.
Sasuke was the first to interrupt Shikamaru's attempt to explain the finer details of the game to you. He swept into the room and very quickly slumped into the empty chair next to your bed. You and Shikamaru paused, looking expectantly at the boy, but Sasuke remained silent. He glared down at his hands, which gripped his knees far tighter than he likely intended. You seemed to be contemplating acknowledging him to break the tension that was slowly seeping into the room, but you closed your mouth after only a few seconds of thought. Then you nodded at Shikamaru, and the two of you continued your game.
Sasuke sat and watched quietly as you improved at an alarming rate. All the while, he remained stoically silent. Even when Shikamaru made an attempt to comment on his behavior, he ignored it and continued to watch the board. After an hour, he stood, nodded once in his first acknowledgement of you, and left.
As strange as the interaction was, Shikamaru preferred the peace of Sasuke's methodical entrance and exit to the storm of activity that followed Naruto into the room the next day.
When his friend opened the door, about six dogs followed in after him. Some settled into different corners of the room, but a few caught sight of you and jumped happily on the bed, licking your face and hands while you sat frozen on the bed, hands stilling in midair as if you'd never been confronted by an excited animal before.
Pakkun was the first to calm himself down. He settled on the bed next to you with a huff, and you hesitantly reached out and scratched his head.
"Oh, that one's Pakkun!" Naruto informed you happily, "and that's Bull, Biscuit, Guruku, Shiba, and Akino. There are two more around somewhere—their names are Ūhei and Urushi."
You took note of the names as the boy listed off them off, looking only slightly overwhelmed by all of the attention. Shikamaru figured that the rapid introductions were overwhelming, though it probably helped that there were no new people to meet. He understood and sympathized with your obvious averseness to the abundance of sympathy that you'd received since being on bedrest. Ino had been very strict in her instructions—no unnecessary movement unless she was there to supervise. Shikamaru wondered if this rule was more for Kakashi's sake than yours—the man's absence was glaringly obvious. Perhaps Ino was enabling his avoidant behavior.
Sakura came in later that same day with a bundle of flowers in her hands. You'd looked at them warily, though the expression softened when the girl poked her head around them with a smile.
"You always liked flowers," she explained when you remained silent. She'd carried them in a vase that was now resting safely on the windowsill. When she turned around, Shikamaru noted that she looked more nervous than he'd ever seen her.
"Thank you," you finally said, looking from the arrangement to where Sakura stood at the end of your bed. She shuffled, clearly unsure of where she should go now that she'd completed her task.
"I can tell you about how we met." Sakura said suddenly, the words rushed, "but only if you want me to! I mean, it could help with your memory. A-and I want to make sure Shikamaru has a break from playing shogi–"
"You can tell me," you interrupted her rambling, giving her a strained smile as you scanned her. Shikamaru caught the hint of lingering fear in your eyes and felt himself unwillingly grow more curious about the situation. Sakura, to her credit, returned it, though Shikamaru knew that she had noticed your hesitancy.
Shikamaru left before Sakura began, assuming that her settling into the chair at your side was his queue to leave. The conversation, while being one that piqued his interest, was also one he knew he was not welcome to hear.
He wandered the halls of the compound aimlessly after his unspoken banishment from your room, strolling through corridors and down halls until he heard Kakashi's familiar voice behind one of the many doors he passed.
"–need to have a contingency plan. We can't be sure that we're safe just because he's not attached to HYDRA anymore. He could act independently."
He perked up at the mention of the organization, pausing next to the door and telling himself that there was nothing inherently wrong with taking a break from his walk. It was simply coincidence that the spot he'd chosen made it much easier to hear what was being said.
"I still think it would be safest to leave her with Ino and cut ties," he heard a different voice say. He thought it sounded like Guy, but the words were so somber that Shikamaru barely recognized his cadence.
There was a long pause, and Shikamaru could feel the tension bleeding through the cracks of the door. He leaned closer, eyes narrowed at the light bleeding into the hall as he strained to hear the rest of the conversation.
"You know I won't do that," Kakashi finally admitted quietly, but with no shame in his tone. Only sheepish conviction.
"I know," Guy responded with no judgement or blame. The two fell into an easier silence. Shikamaru waited for another moment, then continued through the halls.

The day you left, Sakura had been angrier than ever before.
She still wasn't sure if she could hold onto all of it without exploding. The depths of it often felt unreachable, but she would sometimes sit awake and let her hatred for Orochimaru consume her. It was those nights that she could tap into the deep, carnal rage that lingered beneath the surface.
While she was in the Red Room with you, she had seen how strongly you felt things. Despite your expert control over your emotions, when it was just her to witness it, you were more expressive than nearly anyone she'd ever met.
But now, she was not a safe person. She was nothing more than a stranger, and all she saw in your expression anymore was suspicion and fear.
And looking at you for the first time in seven months, she'd felt like she was looking at a shell of your former self.
The night they got you back, she mourned you for a second time.
She knew that you weren't gone. Just...lost. It was up to her and the others to help you find your way back to them.
She just wished she could've done something before you were taken.
No, not taken. When you sacrificed yourself for her. She wished that she'd been strong enough to break Orochimaru's hold for long enough to drag you back home herself.
But she hadn't been strong enough, and now you could barely look her in the eye.
Her failure kept her up at night. It was for her that you'd left. For her that you'd given yourself up to the person you feared most in the world.
You'd done more than enough for her in the Red Room—so much that it would take lifetimes to repay all of the debts she owed you—but this had been too much. No one was worth your life.
And that's what Orochimaru had taken. You had survived, but Orochimaru had taken your life from you in the cruelest way imaginable.
After all of the work you'd done to break his hold, Orochimaru always seemed to come back like a parasite. Now it wasn't just Kakashi that you didn't trust like when you first escaped. It was her. You had no one to hold you steady. No one to support you.
She remembered how that felt when she first got to the Red Room. How isolated she'd been in a place that showed her nothing but merciless and unforgiving cruelty.
She imagined that it had been the same for you growing up in a place like that. And now, once again, you were forced into isolation once again.
Sakura could feel herself spiraling into dark, dangerous territory the longer she pondered on all of this. She wondered again and again what she could've done differently to keep you from leaving, but Orochimaru was smart. It was impossible to keep him from his goal once he set his sights on it.
And at one time, that goal had been her. When he first found her, he saw her as an opportunity for leverage. And becase she was unable to stop him from using her as a lab rat, you were suffering.
A knock on her bedroom door made Sakura jolt where she was sitting on her bed, knees pulled into her chest and and head tucked between them. She blinked at the door, not quite out of her cyclical train of thoughts when the knock sounded again.
"Come in," she finally answered, watching with a small spark of hope as the door opened that it was you coming to tell her that you'd remembered everything. Coming to tell her that you were okay, and that you were staying, and that you were happy—
"Sakura?"
She hated the disappointment that flooded her at the sound of Kakashi's voice. Guilt followed it immediately, and she wiped away the tears gathering in her eyes in an attempt to make herself presentable. When she turned on the lamp next to her bed, she saw Kakashi still in the clothes he'd been wearing that afternoon. He'd probably kept himself up doing busy work to avoid sleeping—a habit that had persisted for the seven months that you were gone. Kakashi took a step towards her bed, eyes full of understanding when he saw the tear stains on her cheeks and redness of her eyes.
"Are you okay?" he asked, taking a seat on the edge of her bed. She swallowed, wondering whether honesty would be better or worse for her mentor, but ultimately deciding that he would be able to tell if she was lying. She shook her head, throat closing as another wave of tears threatened to surface. Choking on a sob, she slapped a hand over her mouth in a fruitless effort to stop the sound. Kakashi lifted his arm towards her in silent invitation.
She launched forward immediately, taking the comfort that he offered greedily. She hugged his waist and took solace in the arm that wrapped around her shoulders in return.
"I'll make him pay," she croaked, gritting her teeth against the anger that surged up once again, "I'll kill Orochimaru myself."
No response came, but Sakura knew that Kakashi shared her sentiments. She had seen his anger herself many times in the past seven months—both for you and for herself. She saw it in his reactions to Orochimaru's name—a tense, silent rage that seemed to permeate through the air. She saw it when he sparred with Guy, who, to his credit, fought back with an understanding of Kakashi that very few people had.
He tried to contain it around her, Sasuke, and Naruto, but they all saw it. There was only so much he could hide from them—especially when they all felt similar fury.
Sakura hadn't seen Sasuke so worked up over anyone but his brother.
"Will we ever get her back?" Sakura asked weakly, pressing herself further into the comfort that Kakashi offered. "What if she never remembers us?"
Kakashi was silent, but his thoughts were louder than any words would've been. Sakura knew that he'd been asking himself the same question since they found you, wondering if your memories were even within reach anymore.
"Then we'll make sure that her new memories of us are even better."

You are safe.
It was not an easy thing to convince yourself of, but it was slowly feeling like a more manageable task. When you'd first woken up in a dark, unfamiliar room with a bullet hole in your chest and no memory of what had happened, you would've laughed at the idea of being safe. You'd been shot, and the perpetrator was likely still close enough to be a threat.
Then you'd woken up a second time with straps holding your wrists and ankles down and a vague memory of Kakashi supporting your body as you fell out of consciousness. Yet the voice in your head that had been continuously screaming danger had become a bit quieter.
That voice had once consumed your mind with its insistence, but not even when Kakashi willingly came into your hospital room did it rise to the same level as before. It didn't incite anything close to the amount of fear that you'd felt when Kakashi—the other Kakashi—had been using you as a lab rat.
Panic, however, had mounted when Ino suggested that she leave you to talk to Kakashi alone. No matter how different this Kakashi seemed from the one you knew, that didn't change the fact that you had no idea who he was. This could've been an elaborate trick meant to lower your defenses.
But if that was the case, then Kakashi was an exceptional actor.
When you met the three younger agents, you were puzzlingly relieved. It was an immediate reaction to the confirmation that they were all safe and unharmed. Your initial confusion because of these feelings slowly dissipated as it became clear how close you had been to them before you lost your memories. And the longer you spent with them, the more familiar they become.
The same was not true of Kakashi. His was the only face that still made you want to run from the room, afraid that he had switched back to his old, cruel self. After the first couple of days, he stopped coming all together.
Ino had told you enough of the truth of what had been done to you that you knew you were missing significant portions of your past. But she'd had a hand in your suffering. Despite the fact that she had tried to help you get through the experiments as painlessly as possible, she'd still helped hold you down.
Your relationship with Ino did not have any trust. She had simply been your most immediate source of survival after Orochimaru abandoned you, and you still had trouble believing anything that she told you.
So when she tried convincing you that the Kakashi who tortured you wasn't the real Kakashi, and was instead a man named Orochimaru, you'd had a very hard time believing that she was telling you the truth out of the goodness of her heart.
Then you heard it from Shikamaru. He told you that he'd known Kakashi for as long as he could remember, and that he saw the man as something of a mentor. And during Sasuke's second visit, he'd broken his previous silence and told you that, no matter what Orochimaru had tried to convince you of, Kakashi was one of the kindest people he knew.
Naruto told you that Kakashi would wait for you to remember him no matter how long it took.
And despite your hesitance to listen to people who were essentially strangers, the look in their eyes paired with your subconscious inclination to trust them made it hard to dismiss their words.
You are safe.
You tried to convince yourself that you were in no danger. To listen to what these people told you and what you seemed to already subconsciously believe. But whenever you heard the sound of the doorknob opening and the quiet squeak of hinges that sounded just a little too much like the ones from that room, you felt terror at the idea that it was Kakashi—the other Kakashi—coming to finish what he'd started.
Constantly waiting for him to enter and finally kill you felt like waiting for a snake to sink its fangs into you.
You are–
It had become easy to lose track of the days and nights with each one that passed in the hospital room. Ino claimed that extended bedrest was to help you recover from your injury despite your continued insistence that you were fine after nearly a week of healing.
You suspected that the decision had more to do with your outburst days earlier than recovery. Especially since Ino had never been this concerned about your injuries when she helped cause them.
Tonight, the hospital room was especially suffocating.
The feeling was enough of a motivator for you to rise to your feet, albeit slowly, and approach the row of windows that lined the wall to the left of the bed. Only moonlight illuminated the courtyard that stretched out on all sides of the compound, but the night was clear enough that you could see the trees on the opposite side of the field. The branches twisted and jerked back and forth as wind whipped through the leaves. The howls and moans that carried to you almost felt like an omen, but you shook the thought away. Most days, everything felt like an omen.
The room was beginning to smother you, and the lingering smell of antiseptic that clung to the bedsheets had given you a days-long headache.
You turned away from the window with a shudder, unable to shake the uneasiness hanging on your shoulders. You hesitated next to your bed; maybe the best thing to do would be to sleep this off. Leaving the room now wouldn't do you any good, but something felt off.
You left the room hesitantly, moving into the dimly lit hallways and looking down either side, not sure exactly what you were expecting. You were tense, and the tightness of your muscles was causing a dull throb to build in your chest. You ignored it and began to walk towards the common area. It was the same path you'd taken the first night, and you felt a twinge of guilt over your actions when you passed the room that you now knew to be Kakashi's.
You paused in front of the door, glancing at it in a moment of consideration. With a sigh, you moved on, brushing away the déjà vu before you could ponder on it for too long.
Something's wrong, a voice in your head insisted, urging you forward.
The kitchen was empty. The only light came from the dim glow of a lamp above the oven. You took a long, careful look around the room as panic began to take root in your chest. You couldn't pinpoint the cause of it, but your gut told you that the feeling was not something to be ignored.
A creak of a floorboard in the hall made you freeze, and you darted to the wall next to the doorway, pressing yourself against it and holding your breath as quiet footsteps made their way towards you. You took a deep, steadying breath when a shadow appeared in the doorway, then lunged from your hiding place when a figure stepped into view. With an arm over their chest and a hand gripping their wrist, you slammed them against the doorframe with a scowl and glared at the surprised, yet somehow unconcerned expression on Kakashi's face.
With a blink, you released your pent-up anxiety in a heavy exhale and loosened your grip on Kakashi's wrist. He waited as your gathered yourself, endlessly patient despite his precarious position pressed against the wall.
"Sorry," you finally murmured, stepping away from him and wiping your sweaty palms on your pants, "I thought you were...someone else."
"Me too."
You glanced at Kakashi questioningly, but he was looking at you with the same expression.
"What are you doing out here?" he finally asked, taking a tentative step into the room, then another when you remained relaxed. "It's late."
You swallowed, wondering if you should voice your concerns to Kakashi. You weren't even sure what you were concerned about. All you knew was that your gut was telling you that something was wrong.
"I felt...something seems off."
"Yeah," Kakashi said quietly, "it does."
So he feels it too, you thought to yourself, closing your eyes with resigned acceptance. The recovery that Ino had been so concerned about would have to be put on hold for the night.
"I feel like someone's watching me," you told him as he strode further into the room. He turned and met your eyes. "Why are you out here?"
"I couldn't sleep," he responded. When he saw you eyeing his mask, he pulled it down to his neck and rubbed a hand over his mouth. "I've been feeling...paranoid these past few nights."
You tried not to get distracted by his now exposed features, but it was hard when they were previously such a mystery to you. Before you came here, you often wondered what Kakashi looked like under his mask. Most of the time, the image you created wasn't very flattering.
But the face that you were looking at now was putting you at ease. Rather than the fear and disgust you always expected to feel in the event that you saw what Kakashi looked like, all you felt now was a familiar sense of comfort and safety.
"How does your chest feel?" Kakashi asked after a moment, nodding at the hand that you were holding over the healing wound. You removed it, attempting to relax your body despite the low throbbing that was slowly spreading to your shoulder.
"Fine," you responded, brushing the question off. It was nothing you couldn't handle. Nothing you hadn't had to deal with before.
It was healing better than other wounds you'd received from supposed allies.
You paused at the image that flashed in your mind. You saw yourself looking in a mirror, shirt torn to expose an ugly wound on the opposite side of the one that was currently healing. The edges of the bullet-wound were puckered and swollen, and the rudimentary stitches you'd given yourself looked like they were doing more harm than good. You felt the phantom touch of your own fingers on your chest, poking and prodding at the stitches in the hopes that they would hold for the remainder of the mission.
You felt for the scar over your shirt, unsurprised when your fingers moved over the uneven ridges of the healed skin.
You reached further for more information, but your mind went frustratingly blank.
A quiet, nearly inaudible hiss broke you from your thoughts. It came from above you, and you ducked down as if a bullet was flying over your head in slow motion. Kakashi started as well, head on a swivel as he searched for the source of the sound.
"The vents," he said with wide eyes as he lifted his mask back over his nose, "don't breath in. Something's being released into the air."
You pulled your shirt over your nose, automatically switching to a more shallow breathing pattern. Your body began operating on autopilot, carrying out subconscious instructions to counteract the speed of the gas's affect.
"Is it just in this room?" you asked quickly, counting the vents the surrounded you, "or is it everywhere?"
The subjects of your concern occurred to Kakashi in the next moment, and he began making a break towards the hall that led to his students' rooms.
He didn't get far before he stumbled, letting out a cough and breathing deeply to try and steady himself. He made another attempt to reach the door, but his legs clearly weren't responding to his desperate commands.
You watched in silence as he struggled, eyes wide as you considered your options.
A large, loud part of you screamed at you to move. It begged you to help Kakashi and go with him to check on his students. To make sure everyone was safe before you yourself inevitably fell victim to whatever was spreading through the air.
But a smaller, yet still strong part of you reminded you of the opportunity that this gave you.
You could kill him here, it said, grinning wickedly at the idea, then all of this would be over. You could leave and forget this place. Forget the pain he's caused you.
It was the same voice that had forced you to stay sane each time electricity ran rampant in your body. It was the voice that had kept you alive through pure, burning hatred.
Hatred for the man who was beginning to give in to unconsciousness, completely vulnerable to attack.
That voice came from deep inside of you. It was the part of you that still didn't believe in the story that Kakashi and the others had told you.
The part of you that still thought of Kakashi as an enemy.
You approached him after a long moment of deliberation, and he looked up with lidded eyes. Despite the lethargy that was quickly taking root in his body, he still recognized the look in your eyes. They held an uncertainty that could only mean that you weren't exactly sure what to do with him now that he was completely at your mercy.
"Make sure," he croaked, swallowing and fighting to catch his breath from the effort of fighting against unconsciousness, "make sure they're safe. Please."
No pleading for his own life. No final request for mercy. With those words, his eyes fell shut, and he went limp.
You stared at him for a very long moment, jaw tight and eyes fixed on his hand, which was reaching towards the hall that he had so desperately tried to reach.
It would be so easy...
After a final moment of hesitation, you knelt at his side and lifted his arm over your shoulder. Despite the pain that it sent to your chest, you hefted a majority of his bodyweight onto your back and shoulders and began dragging him towards his room.
You kicked the door open and huffed, finally beginning to feel the effects of the gas that was still filling the room. You grit your teeth and pushed forward, turning your back to his bed and dropping him rather ungracefully onto the unkempt blankets. With a final, conflicted look at his unconscious form, you slipped from the room and continued down the hall.
A desperate, strained call of your name echoed off the walls, and you turned at the same time that Ino rushed forward, finally spotting you through the haze that the gas was causing.
"Finally," she huffed, "listen to me—I know you don't remember, but this shit that's in the air is something that Orochimaru uses. He's here, somewhere in the building."
Ino must've seen the panic that flashed across your expression, because she began shaking her head, gripping you by the shoulders and giving you a hard shake.
"No. Don't panic. Listen to me—I know you don't remember this, but we used to do training exercises while under the influence of stuff like this. We have a strong tolerance, so it'll take a while for it to slow us down. Even longer for it to knock us out completely. Depending on how much he has, we might even stay conscious."
"You said he's powerful," you countered, voice void of any emotion, "he'll have people with him."
"Not anymore," Ino said with a laugh that almost sounded manic. You felt a twinge of worry and wondered if this gas could have psychological effects, "all he has is Kabuto now. We can take them. We just have to stay awake."
Her voice was becoming more and more strained the longer she rambled. Now that you really looked at her, Ino looked...terrified. You had never seen that expression on the girls face—she was normally so stoic, never letting go of the mask that kept her safe from scrutiny.
Now, that mask had shattered, and you could see through it clear as day. She was looking around wildly, as if Orochimaru would jump from one of the many doors in the hall at any moment.
You wouldn't be surprised if she was having some kind of flashback. A flashback to something that you couldn't remember.
"Ino," you snapped, gaining her attention immediately. She whipped her head towards you, wide eyes searching yours, "Kakashi is already unconscious. We have to get the others to the same room so we can protect them."
A reminder of the four trainees that still remained in the building seemed to get through to Ino, and she nodded firmly.
"Shikamaru is staying on the opposite side of the building, closer to your room," you reminded her, trying to remember the exact location from the explanation that Sakura had given you of the layout of the compound the day before, "go get him and bring him to Kakashi's room. Once we're all in one place, we can make sure Orochimaru doesn't get to them."
Ino swallowed, then nodded again, backing up with a final glance towards Sakura's room before she took off towards the opposite hall.
When she was gone, you turned back towards the first of the three doors in this hall. The first was Naruto's, and though you expected the sight that greeted you, you still felt your fear spike at the sight of the boy unconscious in the middle of his floor. It was clear that he'd tried to get out of the room before it was completely flooded with gas, but he hadn't made it far.
The gas was more concentrated in the smaller space, and you choked on a cough as some of it seeped through the thin fabric of your shirt. Naruto was far lighter than Kakashi, so you had little trouble lifting him over your shoulder and carrying him to Kakashi room. He groaned when you dropped him on the bed next to Kakashi, but his eyes stayed shut.
You closed your eyes and willed the burning in your chest to dull. You could feel your skin pulling at the stitches holding your wound closed and hoped that you'd be able to get everyone in one place before they snapped.
When you reentered the hall, Ino had returned with Shikamaru. She was dragging him with an arm around his waist, nearly buckling under his weight as her strength bled away.
"Watch over them. I'll get the others, and then you can rest."
Ino looked as if she wanted to argue, but closed her mouth when she stumbled under Shikamaru's increasing weight. With a resigned nod and one fleeting, concerned glance in your direction, she disappeared into Kakashi's room.
You grit your teeth when another wave of dizziness hit you, making your body feel twice as heavy as it tried to drag you to the ground. Still, you used the wall as support and dragged yourself to the second door.
Sasuke's room was next, and you gave a frustrated shout when you found his door locked. You stumbled back, wondering if you had enough strength left to kick the door down.
The lock was probably strong—under normal circumstances, a few hits might've been enough, but under the effects of whatever was seeping into your system, it would be a miracle if you got it open at all.
With this fact in mind, you steadied yourself, hands braced on the wall to propel yourself forward in a desperate attempt to get to the boy on the other side.
At the same moment that you launched yourself towards the door, it unlocked with a quiet click.
You stumbled forward, letting out a relieved laugh when the doornob twisted with ease.
You had to give the door a solid shove to get it open. Sasuke was slumped against the other side of it, and you shot forward to keep him from falling backwards into his bookshelf. He was unconscious by the time you got to him, likely having used his last bit of strength to reach the door.
He's a strong kid, you reminded yourself, remembering what Naruto had told you about his friend's determination to become stronger.
Ino was immobile when you deposited Sasuke on Kakashi's other side. Her eyes were half open, and she strained to stay awake to make sure she wasn't caught off guard while you were gone. She tilted her head at your entrance, grimacing when you braced yourself against the doorframe. Her eyes fell to your chest, and you followed her gaze to the blood spreading across your shirt. Again.
"I'm gonna kill you if you rip your stitches again," she muttered, the words barely above a whisper.
"It's fine," you huffed in response, "just one more."
Sakura's room was on the far side of the hall, and you tripped over yourself when you saw pink hair spilling from her room in an unruly mop.
She'd gotten as far as the doorway, and her hands were braced against the frame in what must've been her final attempt to pull herself forward.
Don't pass out, you chanted to yourself, panic beginning to set in as your vision went blurry, not yet.
You stumbled to your knees in front of her, pulling her arm towards you with as much strength as you could gather. Your knees were shaking as you pushed yourself off of the ground, and your arms felt lifeless when you made a desperate attempt to lift her up.
"Come on," you muttered, "come on."
"I won't tolerate your failure," a familiar voice whispered in your ear. You turned towards the sound deliriously, but found the space next to you empty. The voice continued, "and you'll learn not to tolerate it either."
It was the same voice as the one from your dream all those nights ago. The voice of the black-haired man that you now knew to be Orochimaru.
"Now get up," he hissed, his voice emerging from the depths of your mind. The voice surrounded you, feeding you the words like venom, "and prove to me that you deserve to be a Black Widow."
The command was spit at you with a force that should've made you falter, but you felt a welcomed spike of fear-induced adrenaline rush through you. You wrapped a weak arm around Sakura's waist and grit your teeth under her weight, then forced yourself to stand.
When you reached Kakashi's room, you couldn't keep from collapsing to the ground. You wrapped your arms securely around Sakura to cushion her from the fall and slumped back against Kakashi's closed door. It slammed shut behind you, and you reached back blindly to lock it.
Ino was unconscious now, and you knew it wouldn't take long for you to follow her.
If Orochimaru really was in the building, then you suspected that one door wouldn't keep him out, but fighting against unconsciousness was becoming painful now. You felt it pulling at you, making your body heavier and heavier under Sakura's weight.
You hugged the girl closer, shielding her as best you could with your body. After one final glance towards the rest of the room's inhabitants, the adrenaline drained from your body, and the pain in your chest faded as your eyes fell shut.

Summary: Kakashi knew very well that he was lucky to have you in his life. Your words were like the balm to the wounds inflicted on Kakashi’s heart, for him, there was no better medicine than your presence in his life. You loved him unconditionally, the same way he loved you back.
Tumblr media
Kakashi’s steps felt heavy as he made his way up the stairs, moving upward, one step after the other. After another headache-inducing round of missions with the Genin of his Team Seven, exhaustion has long settled into his bones. The most recent squabble between Naruto and Sasuke was still echoing in his mind, as was the intervention of the last member of the team, Sakura. With each time he spent with the three rascals, Kakashi could not help but compare them to the team he had once been a part of, the one of which he was the only member remaining.
The mere thought was a shot to his heart, one that made it squeeze painfully, the sight of the memorial stone flashing in his mind. For a moment, Kakashi stopped in the stairwell and leaned against the cold and bleak wall, his breathing coming out laboured from behind his dark mask. He squeezed his eyes shut to dispel the images flashing through his mind, though, to no avail.
Underneath his fingertips, he could feel the familiar feeling of the paper the Yamanaka flower shop used to wrap their flower bouquets, the way some wet spots littered the beige paper, droplets of water moving down the still-damp stems of the many flowers. It was a feeling he was unable to forget, one that accompanied the flashes in his mind. It was swiftly followed by the feeling of dried flowers in his hands, the ones he replaced week by week. It did not matter how fatigued he felt after long missions, how tense his muscles felt or how unbearable each step was, Kakashi was always able to drag himself all the way to the memorial stone, a fresh bouquet clutched in his hand.
Kakashi breathed in and out. The flash flood of sorrow threatened to pull him under, to drown him in a wave he so desperately wished to be able to escape. His hand moved to rest above the dirty material of his Jōnin vest, a feeble attempt to bring some comfort to himself. Underneath his own touch, he could feel his heartbeat steadily increasing, a telltale sign of his heightened emotions.
A curse rushed past his lips. His hand squeezed into a fist, his nails digging into the calloused skin of his palm.
His body felt heavy and as though there was no strength in any of his limbs remaining, as though he had been almost completely drained of all his energy. His legs threatened to buckle under his weight, so he shifted to lean himself further against the wall, his other hand moving to stabilize himself somewhat.
He was alone, there was no one to help him.
Breathing felt like a chore to Kakashi, each breath was another reminder that there was no one but him remaining. He was the only member of his team still breathing, the only one to have the liberty to take a breath and to let one out.
He could have saved them, no, he should have. Guilt was gnawing at him, eating him alive bit by bit. The sea of his own emotions he was drowning in was merciless, every bit the force of nature his conscious compared it to. He felt like a small ship taking on the harshest of seas, on an expedition that seemed to be never-ending, one hurdle after the other keeping him from the calmness he had once known.
Around him, everything began to spin, the stairs turning into one long, grey shape, blending seamlessly together. Kakashi felt the despair clawing at his throat, every breath like sandpaper.
Kakashi of the Sharingan, they called him. The Copy Cat Ninja.
“‘Kashi?”
There was only one person who dared to call him that, his rock in the turbulent waters, his light shining even in the most consuming of darknesses. You.
“Kakashi?” Soft. Calm. The waves of his emotions became smaller and smaller, a light seeping through the murky waters. “What happened?”
From the seamless blend of the walls and stairs stood out a figure. From what he could discern with his blurry vision, your brows were knitted together into an expression of concern, concern for him, he quickly realised. A frown tugged at your pretty lips, completing the picture of worry.
His fist moved from where it still was settled by his heart and unfurled, and Kakashi moved his hand toward his face, rubbing his charcoal eye. He could see you more clearly now, and dread sank into the bottom of his stomach, swept up by his very own sea of emotions.
Your hand moved toward him and settled on his shoulder. For a moment, he almost didn’t recognize your soft touch that only grew stronger as he flinched in your grip. His survival instinct fought against his consciousness, only soothed as you spoke to him again.
“Kakashi, are you okay?” Your voice was filled with genuine care and affection, as always.
He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. So, Kakashi shook his head.
“Let’s get you home first, alright?”
Home, yes, Kakashi wanted to go home, with you.
Kakashi nodded. He felt horrible for the way you looked at him, contemplating the most suitable approach for the situation he was in. Never would Kakashi underestimate you, he put his faith in you after all, but now, he could understand your hesitation when it came to moving him.
Your body moved to support his, one of your arms moving around his hip and settling on it, the other moving his arm to wrap around your shoulder. “Lean on me, ‘Kashi.” You told him, and so he did.
All the way up to the next floor of the apartment complex, you allowed Kakashi to lean the weight of his body on yours, not daring to rush him as you helped him move upward one step after the other. In comparison to the strong Shinobi you have always known, the Kakashi in your arms felt almost helpless, a sight that always had your heart breaking, one you could never get used to.
Once the two of you made your way to the door of your shared apartment, you shifted awkwardly to retrieve the apartment keys you had previously stashed in your pocket. They jingled as you got them out and inserted them into the lock, successfully unlocking the door before you pushed it open.
To Kakashi, things were happening almost in a blur. He could hear the familiar click the lock made as you unlocked the door, as well as the sound of the door falling shut behind the two of you.
“Let’s get you settled down.” The comforting lull of your voice held the dam in his heart together and kept it from breaking against his inner turmoil. Kakashi barely was able to pay attention to anything but you, the light guiding him home time and time again.
He felt almost weightless as you helped him settle down on the couch. Had he been in any other state, Kakashi would have worried about the dirt he was bringing into your shared apartment, but as he felt the couch dip beside him, the thought vanished as quickly as it had come.
“‘Kashi, do you want to talk about what happened?” Came from beside him, your voice filled with genuine care and affection.
Kakashi shook his head, unable to form any words. Were there even words to express the pain he felt, the guilt eating him alive? Instead, he leaned toward your body and almost sighed in relief as your arms enveloped him in a loving embrace.
You held him tightly, your hand moving to stroke his hair at a comforting pace. You whispered soothing words in his ear, reassuring him that you would always be there for him, that you wouldn’t leave him.
“If you don’t want to talk about what happened, then that’s fine,” You told him, pressing a small kiss to the crown of his head. “I’m here for you, ‘Kashi.”
“Thank you.” Kakashi managed to croak out, his voice hoarse with emotions.
You smiled softly at him, a string tugging at your heart. “I love you, ‘Kashi. You don’t have to face any of this alone, you hear me?”
Kakashi knew very well that he was lucky to have you in his life. Your words were like the balm to the wounds inflicted on Kakashi’s heart, for him, there was no better medicine than your presence in his life. You loved him unconditionally, the same way he loved you back.
His heart did not feel as heavy anymore as he leaned further into your loving embrace, cherishing the comfort that only you could provide.
