Prompt 2 — Bargain
Tumblr media
Bargaining was in his blood, at least it was supposed to be. Back home he’d never had a problem but here, malms away across an ocean, things were proving to be… difficult.
Perhaps it was this market that was throwing him off. Never before had he thought Reunion quiet, yet it seemed just that once he compared it to Limsa Lominsa’s market place. This place was an assault on the senses. Stalls overflowing with goods packed to bursting with colourful clothes, weapons, jewelry, and a menagerie of other trinkets. The aromas were overwhelming: spices, fish, fresh produce, baked goods. All competing to be the most powerful smell. Then there was the noise, a blur of voices in a language already a struggle to follow. Stall owners yelling their deals over one another, the milling crowds of shoppers, the playful shouts of children. Yes in comparison, Reunion was a quiet place.
“Son, are ye buyin or what?” The owner of the stall he was currently standing in front of brought Nergui back to his senses. Yes he was buying, just not at that price. A leather grip for his lance, his old one worn beyond comfort. A simple enough thing to make were he back home; but for now he would settle on a purchase if this man would just see reason.
He pointed at the grip, levelling the stall owner with a stare. Too much.
“Aye son I know that’s what ye want it’s the fifth blumin time ye’ve pointed at it. And I’ve told ye every time, eight thousand Gill!”
Nergui frowned. No, too much.
The stall owner let out an exasperated sigh. “Look son. I don’t know where yer from, but clearly yer not from ‘round here. See ‘round here we don’t just point at things without buyin em. Yer understand?”
Nergui gave the man a slow nod, obviously he understood. If only they would understand that the asking price was beyond reasonable. He’d seen the lumbering naked mammoths in the fields just outside the city. One of those was enough to make hundreds of grips. At best they were worth a couple thousand and no more.
“Son ye seem like a good lad, far from home, but good. I don’t want no trouble but if ye don’t buy I’ll be callin for the Yellow Jackets. So either make the purchase or move on, Son.”
Yellow jacket? Nergui looked down at his clothes, brow furrowed. Why would he need a yellow jacket? He was not Oronir. He shook his head this was meaningless. He just wanted the grip. One last try and hopefully they could come to an agreement. Nergui pointed at the grip again. The stall owner groaned, burying his face in his hands.

Letisya Dagasi 2.0
Aka: Do you know how hard it is to find Au Ri and Isgardian lore? I never had 7this problem in ESO
Tumblr media
Name: Letisya Dagasi
Name day: 31st Sun of the Sixth Astral Moon (11/29)
Race & Clan: Au Ra, Xeala
Guardian: Halone, The Fury
City-State: Ul’dah
Grand Company: Order of the Twin Adder
Class: Lancer -> Dragoon
Background:  In roughly the 1553rd year of the Sixth Astral Era, Letisya was born into the Tumet Tribe of the Azim Steppe- although she was not given a name at that time. In keeping with tribal traditions, she was designated as “Nergui” -Nameless one- and would remain so unless she passed her Trial.  When she reached her tenth summer, she and two other children were bound to a sacred ash tree, with the expectation that they would be able to free themselves and track the tribe to their new location.
On the second day, one of the children managed to escape.
On the fourth day, the second child died of exposure.
On the fifth day, Nergui managed to free herself, starving and dehydrated but alive.  She wandered the Steppe for another five days, trying desperately to follow the trail left behind by her tribe, but the trail had gone cold. The winds had swept away any foot prints, and beasts that would have no qualms about eating her alive prowled the area.  On the morn of the fifth day, Nergui finally collapsed, not even having enough water in her body to cry about her pitiable state.  But fate was kind to this lost child, as she had collapsed just outside Reunion, where she was found by the lalafell, Nolulu Nolu, and her elezan lover,  Vallerin Dagasi.  An artesian and a healer respectfully, they were members of one of the foreign merchant caravans who made annual visits to Reunion to trade with the Xaela tribes.  That they had managed to find this tiny, emaciated girl before she died of exposure was nothing short of a miracle.
Nergui rested in one of the yurts in Reunion for three days. The only timesshe was conscious was when the healers all but forced her to eat and drink. Nolulu, having studied multiple languages thanks to years working in the Sapphire Avenue Exchange, was able to piece together from one of the non- Qestir healers that the child was a Tumet-Khakhüü- a Lost Child of the Tumet Tribe.  Even if anyone knew where the Tumet tribe currently was, Nolulu would not stand for letting Nergui go back out to try and find them.
“She’s a baby,” She said in between furious tears. “I’m not letting her back out there.”
In contrast to Nolulu’s gentle altruism, Vallerin could only surmise that meeting a lost Xaela girl like this was The Fury’s way of offering him redemption. He had once counted himself among the Dragoon Knights of Ishgard, and served his homeland with pride and loyalty. He was also one of the soldiers responsible for the Crusade of Coerthas, wherein countless men, women, and even children died in agony on his lance. (Settlers. They had been Xaela settlers, not unholy abominations of men and dragons. Of course the truth came far too late; long after his lance was dyed red with their blood).  If he could save at least one life, then perhaps....
The choice was, ultimately, Nergui’s. She could either go with Nolulu and Vallerin and have a stable life, if not one disconnected from her Xaela heritage. On the other hand, she could regain her strength and continue her search for her tribe in earnest. She chose the former. She was, after all, still just a child. Rather than be given a name by someone else, she was allowed to choose her own name: Letisya (the name of one of the Xaela healers assisting Vellerin; it sounded pretty).  The three returned to Gridania as a new, mismatched family.
The Calamity tore through their world and burned down everything around them. Nolulu had been rendered blind from the ash and cinders of Primal Bahamut’s wrath. Vallerin was caught underneath some burning rubble while trying to evacuate friends and neighbors, leaving the right side of his body horrifically scarred, and costing him that leg.  Bloodied, blind, and hopeless, the three of them clung to each other in the Twin Adder Barracks. Vellerin whispered prayers to Halone in between his sobs and gasps of pain.
Somehow, they all survived the end of the world.
Five years later, Letisya had continued her training as a lancer in earnest. She eventually resolved to become a mercenary, and set off for Ul’dah.

I’ve been mulling over making this post specifically for Numei for a while, but I figured I may as well and see what I can find!
So, without further ado!
Looking for RP connections!! Can do IG or Discord RP!
Bit of info on Numei:
Name: Nergui Ejinn, though goes by Numei Ito Age: 19 Race: Xaela, Au Ra Location: Kugane Job: Armorer and Blacksmith/Weaponsmith, technology expert, blade for hire Alignment/Personality: Neutral Evil/Numei is extremely brash and abrasive, quite blunt. They get frustrated easily while speaking Eorzean as that is not their first language and will often switch to Hingan when put out enough. Looking for: Friendships (as much as someone can be a friend with them), rivalry, IC customers, what have you.
I am not looking for any sort of romantic connections for Numei as they are in a very happy, surprisingly stable relationship.
Bit of backstory: Numei hails from Othard; born to a small faction of Ejinn, Numei was separated from her parents by the age of three due to a raid on her tribe. Slavers stole the child away and she was happened upon by a man named Minato Ito and his assistant Khan Qestir. Minato, broken-hearted by seeing such a small child being sold into slavery and feared for what could happen to her, bought Numei’s freedom and took the child in and raised her as his own family. With money being little issue, Minato hired the finest tutors for Numei the moment she demanded showed a gift for quick learning. By the age of fifteen, Numei was already well versed around a forge and had been crafting weapons for her father’s comrades in the Doman Resistance. Listening to her father’s tales and passion for a freed Doma, it soon too became Numei’s dream to help the cause in any way she could. Under another demand, Minato trained Numei in the art of swords of any type whereas Khan silently instructed her in the ways of hand-to-hand combat, as well as archery on ground and horseback as they would in the Steppe she could only read of in books. With some of the resistance moving towards Eorzea to make their plea for help, Khan had arrived first to the country’s shores and Minato and Numei were to join the Au Ra soon. However, along the way the pair’s ship was raided by Garleans. The Imperials were searching for something -- though Numei knew not what. The pair put up a fight as best as they could, though in the end Minato ultimately lost his life before Numei’s eyes. The girl attempted to put up a fight, though she was soon subdued and tossed into the sea left for dead. Surviving on her own, wounded and feral for some time, Numei was eventually captured by Eorzean pirates and dragged to Horizon’s Edge where Khan eventually found her. Over time, Numei made her fortune in Ul’dah with her skills at the forge and was content enough to live out her days in the desert city as far away from the Doman Resistance as possible. Eventually, Numei had taken on a student seeking to learn her craft -- a much, much older man by the name of Arelian Atiyeh. Over time the pair realized their affection for one another and came together, the idea making Numei even more content to stay put. Though through Arelian’s ideas and bidding, Numei has found herself back overseas, home once more in Kugane. Now with her father’s ideals lit anew in her heart, Numei seeks vengeance against the Empire that brought about her father’s death.
More important info below, put under a read more for MSQ spoilers:
Important bits to know: Numei will craft anything for the right amount of money. They do not care what it is, where you got the materials from, what you plan on using it for. Pay them, they make it. No idea is too large. Numei’s Ejinn tribe have extremely sharp, shark-like teeth that shed often and larger, fatter and longer tails. Numei also has an Allagan parasite fixed into their skull that has been flipping switches on them since it got inside of them. This parasite is enabling Numei to have new abilities, changing their shape (IE they have been turned into a man, an oni, a fox-like creature, etc) and has transformed their left eye. This eye is two irises against a black scelera. This eye enables Numei to see aether in the way a heat camera sees heat. They often keep this eye closed or cover it with an eye patch or cloth. Numei’s parasite actually makes them MASSIVE SPOILER HERE LOOK AWAY IF YOU HAVEN’T FINISHED THE MSQ a Resonant, of which I had the idea for before the MSQ confirmed it’s existence SPOILER OVER CARRY ON. This bit of information is not noticeable on the surface and can only be revealed through more interaction with Numei.

Reunion
Kha Bairlasan (main encampment) 23 years ago
<"Don't touch me !"> the voice of his mother shouting woke Gin up. It is late and he look to his right, his brother is sleeping soundly. Gin rubs his eyes and walks to his father's study. Altangerel is holding his wife's, calming her down <"I know that witch always has her eyes on you, I knew it!"> she pushes her husband away and glare at him <"If you want to marry her, you better kill me first Altangerel!"> The grey-eyed Kha sighs, when her wife calls him with his full name it means she is at the peak of her anger...nothing good can come out of this <"Yuun, don't be angry please"> he says in a placating tone. The Kha is unflinching in both negotiation and warfare, yet when facing his wife he turns to a soft spoken, loving man. <"Khuthuluun is not here for that, she was merely trying to tie our family closer.">
Oyuun glares and points at him <"That witch's daughter will NOT marry Gin. He already has a fiancee!"> Altan sighs, when she is like this there's just no talking to her <"But don't you think your promise is a bit silly, Yuun? we don't even know if your kin-sister still honor the pro-"> Altan's eyes widen as he avoids a flying brush. <"You shut up Altangerel! if not for sister Bolormaa, i would not be here. I would not be here to marry you and bear your children for you"> his face is flushed with anger <"She has thousand times more honor than that...that witch Khuthuluun!">
Gin rub his eyes and walk in with his wooden sword. <"Mama, why are you angry? who hurt you?"> he asks in a sleepy voice <"I will fight them mama"> the little boy look around for the invisible enemy
Altangerel sighs and holds his wife from behind her, Oyuun tries to fight but when she see Gin all the anger in her melts away. <"It's alright son, there is no enemy. Only mama and papa here"> Altangerel says in a calm voice to his son.
Gin nods and walks back to his bedding, still rubbing his sleepy eyes
Azim Steppe, Field of Blade, present time.
The tall man sits amidst the field of grass. Staring at the starlit sky with a soft smile on his face. He had worn that same smile often, walking through the market of reunion. Hunting Dzo for the clan, teaching Sara and Nergui the letters, looking for information regarding the Od-Aduu, even when shopping vegetables. It makes him looks younger and not once or twice it brings giggles and whispers amongst the women of the market, and a snort or a derisive joke from the men.
When being asked why he is so happy, Gin would answer <"Why shouldn't i? the sky is not falling today, the air is still fresh, the market is lively, there is food to fill my belly...and"> he takes a deep breath <"This wonderful, beautiful, smart, and fierce woman...the reason why I smile when I wake up and when I close my eyes. Just her existence in this world already makes it reason enough for me to smile.">
This reasoning brings more giggles and blush to the women and a raucous laughter from the men. The Kha man just shrug it off, he always lives with his own principle and he never thought of what other thinks of him. To him, that answer he received two suns ago elated his spirit and sometimes gives him a sense of wonder. How come love can be this strong, grasping him in the clutch of such feelings which makes him both formidable and vulnerable. Life has never felt so alive before for Gin...the stolen kisses, the laughter under the moon, the whispers between the bedding, all happy thoughts, dreams, sadness, and even fear...
He shared everything with Yuu, and look for their future together.
youtube
That day, three men visit Reunion on a horseback. As soon as they arrive, the lead person starts asking for a man that match Gin's description. The merchant pointed at him, eating lunch with Sara and Nergui on a street vendor on the middle of the market. The three men, face veiled with a weapon on their belt and bow on their back walk in a stride, approaching Gin. The man eats calmly, but his eyes trained at the strangers. Once they arrive, the one in the middle step forward. <"Well well well, by my mother's name. If it is not Ochigin of the Kha..."> Gin put the chopstick and turns towards the man as he stands up <"You got the wrong person, brother. I am Ochigin of the Uragshi"> he replies calmly.
The veiled man tilts his head <"Huh really...i guess then i get to be the eldest son now.."> he steps forward in an open stance and approach Gin, the two paused for a moment before they hug each other. Laughing loudly.
<"You naughty kid, you just got married and already sneak away?"> Gin pulls away the veil on the man's face. Revealing a man with Golden eyes and the same midnight hair that Gin has. Jemutei is his mother's son indeed.
<"Of course not brother. How can I left my bride"> Jemutei, the second son of Altangerel grins and nods to the person on the right? The smaller figure removes the veil, revealing a beautiful Xaela with red hair and a fair complexion. Her black horn is adorned still with a bridal crown.
Gin blinks, he knows this girl...the woman smiles at him shyly, a smile that would make most man feels light headed but Gin barely notice it <"Ooooh, you sly bastard"> he grins at Jemutei <"Mother didn't told me you married Noykin un Sarantuyaa!"> he laughs and hugs the woman <"Welcome to the family, sister. its been too long">
Jemutei 's voice can be heard from his side <"Hey! don't hug someone else's wife! you're still as crass as ever!"> Gin laughs and smacks the back of Jemutei's head <"Someone else's wife my ass, she's my sister first before she's your wife!"> Sarantuyaa's father is Chieftain of a major Noykin clan and close ally to the Kha. They know each other since young.
He looks around as if seeking for something <"Where's my sister to be? I heard she's really pretty. "Nhaama's own jewel", "Stars of the northern realm," you said in your letters">
Gin laughs <"She's away...but i didn't exaggerate in my letter. Your wife might be the snow flower of Noykin, but my wife is Nhaama’s own jewel”> he laughs <”I will take you to see her later. Also, Hulagu, stop looming. You're still silent as ever I would have thought you'd be born a Qestir"> the third person grunts and open his veil. Revealing a man with the same complexion as Gin, his eyes, but with the light colored hair of their father.
Sara and Nergui watch the three in wonder as Gin ask them to sit down
<"So tell me why are you here...?"> and so, a family reunion started in the market of the Reunion...as the day moves through.

Just Nergui Thoughts
Why is is that I just can’t seem to...to make any friends? I can’t seem to connect with people the way others do. I’ve been around, doing business, performing, running my shops, saving the world and whatnot, but it’s almost like everyone treats me differently, even if they don’t know anything about me. Maybe it’s just something about my aether.
I’ve gone out to bars, to nightclubs, to parties, performed...and while others seem too always be in groups or making friends whether they’re very talkative or not, I’m just...by myself. The only people who really talk to me seem to be the other Scions. I wonder if they ever feel the same, and that’s why they mostly choose solitude except for the young twins. It must just be a certain vibe we give off. It looks so easy for everyone else.
Ever since I was a kid...it was always...I can’t really have friends because I’m different. Being friends with me would just get you into trouble, put you in danger, or be too much of a hassle. Me being friends with anyone else was too dangerous, it’s safer if I just keep to my magic practice and studies, my training. I’m too important, it’s because they needed me to be safe and become strong.
I was so lucky to have ever even met Aruktai, for the few years we knew each other. Who else could have gotten approval of my family and put up with the scrutiny and politics involved with being close to me? At least one night a week I imagine for a while what it would be like were he alive, had come traveling with me as we promised, and joined the Scions together.
He smiled, just faintly. It faded.
Arma for one seems to be really nice to me and spend a lot of time around me, but I can only have my doubts. She’s a machine, meant to hunt voidsent. She probably feels compelled to keep an eye on me. I don’t know what to think about it. Some of my staff members...like Rex, he seems like a very friendly guy, but they’re all just acquaintances. I don’t know if I’ll ever speak more deeply to any of them, beyond business. If anyone will become more important to me, or if I’ll ever be memorable to any of them. And then, the hosts I used to visit...it was so easy to just pay for the companionship. I’m...honestly uncertain if I’ll ever see any of them again. And Nil...Nil is........................
He smiled again, briefly.
I don’t know...he seemed to genuinely like me sometimes. But there is nothing I can believe. I wish he were still a host, so I could just spend time with him again, no confusion, no uncertainty. No worries. No complications. Not so much insecurity. Just bring him some gifts and gil on Sunday nights, sit there under the stars nestled against him, and look forward to the next time. But he is done with that phase of his life and I...am unsure where I stand.
His eyes closed in deep reflection.
Maybe I should stick to the shadows like the rest of us. Be content to just have an occasional tea or museum trip with Y’shtola, drinks and a cynical airing of grievances with Thancred, or read history books with Urianger and talk about magic and aetherology...and spend the night with Estinien as often as I can. The most wonderful person I could have ever asked to meet on this battlefield...a man I know will be accepted to live out a quiet and isolated life with me on the Steppes with my tribe should we reach the winters of our lives together, despite his being an outsider.
His face grew serene.
He’s a good listener and shoulder to lean on when he can, I just wish he were less emotionally distant sometimes. Lately he’s so fixated on this whole Vrtra and ‘repaying his debts to the dragons’ thing that his blood compels him to. It can’t be helped.
His expression became bitter again.
We’re all too serious, too gloomy. We’ve seen too much. There is no...social life for people like us. We’re not meant to have other friends, to love outside of our strange little company. We’re meant to just be heroes. Hell, we aren’t even meant to be alive. We’re just dead men and women walking, here to sweep up the rubble after we save the world from disaster after disaster, and await the next one. We’re just keepers of the realm, ensuring everyone else has a life to live. No rest for the righteous. I am here as I was before, to perform my duties and see the world, mostly travelling alone until it is time for me to return to the star. But...we still all have each other. Shouldn’t that just be enough? I’d be happier if I just didn’t care so much. Why must I feel empty and focus on what I don’t and may never have?

[FFXIV RP/OC Short Story]
Nergui Qestir: A Mystery Unveiled
(part 6)
---------------------------------------
Nergui tossed and turned in his bed at his family's iloh, trying to keep quiet so as not to disturb another's rest. Finally, with a big forceful sigh, he threw open the covers and swung his restless legs down onto the floor to rise up. His movements were violent almost, frustrated and furious. A woolen shawl was thrown over his winter smallclothes and he stepped quickly into a pair of furred mukluk boots to go outside. He finally stop stomping in the middle of an open field a short ways from the border fence of Reunion. He crossed his arms and stared up at the clear star-spattered sky.
It was quiet. Quiet and cold. His breath turned to a cloud of fog before him as he sighed again, more relaxed this time. His eyes dropped half-closed with the exhaustion, like he was too tired to even sleep.
What did it mean? He'd seen more disturbing visions from the echo that day, and none of them gave an explanation thwt he wanted. There was a man who matched the description of his father, cowering in fear and confusion in his bed, falling off of it and clutching blankets until...until something happened and he just fell limp after a brief painful struggle.
There was the woman he thought was his mother again, this time pregnant, and alive. She was crying, and grandmother was there, trying to comfort her. Did the events he saw happen in sequence? Was she crying over his father's death then? What happened to him, and was it the same thing that happened to her?
But why did everyone hold the belief that his mother had died of illness, and his father of an injury he suffered while traveling across the Steppe to trade?
And why was he getting visions of the void, and the Haukke Manor? Was it a voidsent that attacked them? Would his tribesfolk as well as his Mol guardians tell an elaborate lie to him for some reason for years, to protect him from something? Or was it the echo failing him since Hydaelyn had gone...in any case, it was all worrying.
Although, he wondered why for a moment...why did it matter? Why was something that happened in the past to parents he never met worrying? Whatever the reason they died, and whether or not anyone lied about it, what did it matter? The result is the same: he was born and lived his life the way he lived it. What, would he perhaps have some target for pointless vengeance? Was some powerful being after his life? Oh, yes, very terrifying. As if that has never happened before...
Nergui found himself wobbling tiredly, staggering a little as he stood wrapped up in his own arms, his eyes almost fully closed now. It was time to go back inside and attempt to sleep in the cozy blankets. He knew not if staying on the Steppe would provide him any more insights, but he decided to try it out for a week and then if no conclusion came of it, attempt to go back to the thirteenth reflection for his own reasons this time.

If were possible at all, should I? Could it be without consequence, if I saw you again just for a minute or three.... Just to tell you how far I've travelled, of the battles I've won, about how I fulfilled my destiny, and how strong I became... And I'd just want to let you know that I'm not alone, either. I didn't have to do it all alone. I'm okay... (Nergui Qestir + his deceased first boyfriend, Aruktai Kha)

Myers-Briggs 16 personalities test results for my FFXIV characters. This is a great excercise for writers to get to know how their characters think and react to situations.
Nergui Qestir is an INFJ-A, the same as me.
Khuj'a Terrha is an INTJ-A.
Yalden (Forgiven Dissention) is an ISFJ-T.
Cecyl Harviera (who is not quite as developed) is currently shaping up to be an ESFJ-A.

30 minute sketch practice.
Nergui's hands. I added some finger scales, because I think they should have elegant little finger scales.
