Nexus Aroace / Nexelic: A term for someone who knows they are on the aroace spectrum, but doesn’t know where exactly on it they are, due to neurodivergence and/or something similar (for example, plurality).

Someone who uses this label may have a lack of understanding of how romantic and sexual attraction works at all, and may have a hard time feeling “just right” with a specific label or experience. As such, someone with this label may, for instance...

Feel as though they have a cluster of different pieces of labels

Hoard labels due to a vague connection to multiple of them

Use no specific aspec labels because none fit just right

Have labels that blend into each other due to being a system

Have labels that you quickly pick up and later drop or wear out

Have a label that feels vague, fluid, flux, or confusing in one/multiple ways, while still being distinctly aspec

This term is largely based off of the nexe- orientation labels by @ neopronouns. The term nexelic was made alongside nexus aroace primarily for spadillics (people who don’t use the SAM), but anyone can use either term. The colors of the flag were taken from the aroace spectrum flag.

random village boy, surrounded by his snickering friends: hey [six] got a boyfriend? young six, looking up from poking a rock with a stick, confused: …no? village boy: d'ya want one? [wink] six: no thank you, but thank you for asking anyways [goes back to poking the rock]

obviously nobody knows what to do about this. the boy just mutters something under his breath and everyone leaves in silence. six's mom asks him about it later that evening and he just shrugs and goes "i just told him the truth, 'm not interested, i wasn't being rude but maybe he thought that i was." his mom just looks at him, sighs, then tells him to go clean up for dinner.

he realizes five and a half years later lying in bed one night that OH that boy was asking me out that'd explain his reaction! then he turns over and goes to sleep, satisfied that that mystery's finally resolved

as an aroace person who got tired of the lack of aspec representation in the media he watches and often takes any lack of romantic or sexual content or mentions in a series as confirmation that the character not mentioning it is aroace, i started a series of my own a few months ago and the only character in it is aroace! the series in question has been getting zero traction but i don't care because the experience of producing it has been so refreshing because i can just. make those aspec jokes. and nobody's stopping me. even if it's hard to pull off video editing sometimes i still love being able to finally see myself represented in media, even if i'm the one making the series :3

I'm Cat [she/her | aroace] and I write sci-fi and fantasy with a dose of cosmic horror. I love mixing genres and general experimentation. Whether my work is marketable or not is less important than having fun. My absolute favorite things are found family, robots, and time travel, and I am a firm believer that platonic relationships can be just as fierce and important as romantic ones. Most of my novels are set within a shared universe I call the Starfish Saga and that's my main focus, though I do have quite a few exciting projects outside that.

I am quite shy but love making new writer friends and am open to tag games and ask games and other sorts of writerly socialization.

One of my Etrian Odyssey Nexus characters!

Her name is Sage (a hero), and she's the guild's reluctant leader. She's very determined, dedicated and gallant, but is also a bit naive due to being sheltered by her parents for most of her life (she's their only child, as well).

She's from a noble family, and was taught how to wield a sword by her father at a young age. She wants to learn more about the world and its people, and decided that the best way to do this would be to join a guild and hop on the flight to Lemuria with the rest of the explorers. Very friendly and understanding, Sage is good at resolving arguments and solving problems, and often comes up with plans of attack. She's very tired and definitely needs a break, and is also aroace (she's currently trying to dissuade her parents from setting her up with anyone).

He ran off around the age of 9 and

-- Found himself at the door step of the Battle Nexus Hotel. He was taken in by Big Mama and became her assistant / errand runner. He was given food and shelter, basic needs at the best but ran away after around two days before the turtles finally met Big Mama.

-- Since the age of sixteen he opened his own small shop where he would sell different items he found from the upper city and things around the Mystic City. Soon selling art work and scrolls for the shop. -- He is still close with Big Mama and does offers with her // sometimes trading for new objects. Then the Kraang Invasion started (( and no spoilers cause this is where the book picks up ))

general information about them :

Name: Nightwing Sky, alternately Night.aic

Age: 20 at time of death

Pronouns: she/her

Sexuality: ace and demi

Species: AI construct (mind), cybernetic human (body)

Abilities: She can use her core energy and manipulate it, up to a point. Also has retractable metal blade wings (think Murder Drones) and claws that can be equipped with a shock module.

About: Night is an AIC (artificially intelligent conscript) that works with the SCP Foundation. She is part of Mobile Task Forces Alpha-9 (with other anomalies) and Kappa-10 (with other AICs). She is also part of the dimensional research program, often traveling to different realities to gather and send back information. She was formerly a human/dragon hybrid, created by Red Nexus and employed by the Foundation, until she 'canceled out' 3125 and died, then her consciousness was brought back as an AI system and put back into her original body, which was heavily modified.

Names: the Graveyard AICs - Janus, Caerus, and Hermes.aic

Age: on average, 2-3 months

Pronouns: they/it

Sexuality: sexuality? they don’t even have identity down yet

Species: collective AI system

Abilities: Individual: Janus can manifest minor memetic hazards (decomissioned for not ‘communicating effectively’), Caerus can access the Foundation intranet at will, and is able to find a way into most networks (decommissioned for not ‘showing signs of sapience’), and Hermes can perform minor localized reality manipulation (decomissioned for putting a researcher into a coma).

About: They’re originally from canon SCP-7374, they only show up in that one article and then they get destroyed, so this is sort of an AU in which Dr. Parker is less violent, and they're still there. They mostly speak together and often identify as one (because its easier that way), even though they have different personalities and skills. They're currently incorporeal, communicating by transmissions through devices (and their abilities.) .aic stands for Artificial Intelligence Construct, used to designate a specific AI as created by and working for the Foundation. All 3 of them escaped the "AIC Graveyard", a server where the Foundation sends AICs that they deem ineffective or dangerous.

Age: 25, 16 at time of transformation

Pronouns: it/he

Sexuality: aroace

Species: mist parasite (idk)

Abilities: Can possess biological minds, including most animals and humans, partially or completely occupying their brains.

About: Entity is a parasite/symbiont who’s original form is a vaguely humanoid red mist figure. Originally only known as Phoenix, he was a test subject for Red Nexus along with Night. He got selected for ‘intensive testing’, and they put him through a series of processes that temporarily stripped away most of his base personality and eventually he took the form of a mist entity that could only survive through extended contact with a host consciousness. It ended up finding Night again, and taking her as its main host, until her biological consciousness was erased and it was forced to take the mind of her pet snake, Fang.

Name: Researcher Ashton Lewis (formerly D-9355 / SCP-939-102)

Age: 37

Pronouns: he/him

Sexuality: bisexual

Species: human

Abilities: Currently no notable abilities. Is very bad at dying, though.

About: Lewis is a researcher for the SCP Foundation, specializing in interviewing and talking with different anomalies. He was formerly a successful experimental psychologist, until he got charged with assault. He accepted the offer of becoming a D-Class for the Foundation instead of taking jail time, but while he was a D-Class he started metamorphosing into a SCP-939 instance. They eventually turned him back using SCP-914. He recontained 682 during a breach by himself, which convinced the Foundation to let him temporarily become staff so they could utilize his skills in talking to anomalies.

Romcom hell world!

You know those jokes about how living in a 24/7 musical world would be awful? Imagine being the one aroace in a romcom musical world and tell me that doesn’t sound like torture.

Premise: Our protagonist lives in precisely that kind of personal hell and they are Not Happy About It. Where everyone else wants to go on dates and sing duets every five minutes, they would much rather run away into the woods to find evidence of local cryptids.

Yes. Plural.

Because, as it turns out, Amatonormativity City sits right on top of a sort of Eldritch Horror nexus, where several entities have established territory and vie for power over the local mortals. How does one fail to notice, say, the demonic Spider Queen in the underground caverns? (Well, one person did notice. By falling straight into its nest.) Well, that’s a bit of a spoiler secret. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves (:

Plot: This amateur cryptid hunter makes a major discovery, mostly on accident - an unexpected fall turns a spelunking trip into an eye-to-eyes encounter with the very Spider Queen they’d been looking for, and it’s quite surprised to see someone outside the influence of him. Him who? The one behind all this singing nonsense, of course.

“Well, how do I make it- him- stop?”

“Oh, that’s easy enough.

You’ll just have to kill a god.”
