"Hey, is it just me or has Steve been acting weird lately?" Dustin looked up from his copy of Nintendo Power at Robin. It was a slow day at Family Video and Dustin was more than happy to loiter while Robin put back the returns.

"Whatcha mean?"

"This is the third time this week he's left a half hour early and asked me to cover for him. He doesn't tell me where he's going and is acting super secretive...you don't think he's got a girlfriend?"

"No way." Dustin laughed. "If he did, he'd tell everyone."

"True....you don't think it's drugs, do you?"

"Why don't we find out?" Dustin pointed out the window across the street at the 7/11 where they saw him walking out, holding a paper bag tight to his chest. "I'm sure your boss won't notice if you close early."

Robin didn't hesitate to start locking up for the night. Intent to find out what Steve was being so secretive about.

Robin and Dustin were not subtle in their attempts to follow Steve. People staring at the strange duo as they trailed after the young man but somehow Steve was the only who had yet to notice them. Darting from convenience store to convenience store until they were on the edge of town just outside the woods behind the junkyard. It was getting dark out, the summer sun just starting to set as their confusion mounted.

"Why the hell is Steve coming out here in the dark?" Robin asked quietly. Less than a year ago, Hawkins had almost been torn in half by the the upside down. The last thing anyone should be doing is going into the woods alone. In the dark.

Navigating around the trees in an attempt to keep up with Steve, it was almost five minutes before he came to a stop in front of a run down shed. Robin and Dustin quickly ducked into some bushes as he looked around. Taking a key out of his pocket and unlocking the shed door. Looking around once more before closing the door behind him. Dustin and Robin shared a look.

"This is suspicious as fuck." Robin got up, brushing the leaves off her pant legs.

"I'm sure there's a totally normal reason he's out here." Dustin tried to reason but he sounded unsure. Quietly as physically possible, the two sneaked over to the dilapidated structure. Judging from the caution signs and the faded Warren Electric plate, this place used to be an electrical shed. Both Robin and Dustin placed their ears to the shed's side in an attempt to listen to it's occupants.

"-hey sorry I couldn't find Peanut Butter Boppers. Went to five stores but they were all out."

"C'mon, seriously? Did you at least get the Twinkies?"

"Right here."

Despite being muffled, it was clear Steve was talking to someone.

"Is it dark out yet? I can't fucking stand being stuck in here all day."

"Boohoo, you get to sleep all day and do whatever you want at night. I'm sorry your life is so unfair."

"Up yours Harrington, you know what I mean." There was a shuffling inside and the door to the shed opened. Robin and Dustin watched as Steve exited shack followed by an oddly familiar face. Dustin's jaw dropped and he couldn't stop himself from calling out.

"Eddie?"

Honestly, i see a lot of the "critical of mainstream media" people who complain about Disney and big studio movies and stuff... continue to not watch anything more indie or small, just hype up stuff by other big studios as ultra counterculture stuff.

Like when the Mario movie was coming out and people were saying stuff on twitter like: "oh, the critics are being harsh because it's japanese and smaller than Pixar, boohoo." (Even ignoring how it's a NINTENDO adaptation, Illumination is pretty much the second highest grossing animated studio in the USA i think. People forget how much money those Minions movies made!) Or people presenting the Barbie movie as something ultra counterculture against disney instead of a just a big brand movie that will be funny and sassy but probably not be the deepest thing ever.

I'm not even presenting myself as a person that is all that better than them, i love cartoons and anime but haven't watched in full a lot of stuff that isn't very popular, but i also don't complain about all mainstream media in social media every day

Do these people really think that studios would get someone who worked on fucking Thor: Love and Thunder (or whatever the fuck that shit was called, I haven't watched an MCU movie since the original Thor) if people didn't keep fucking WATCHING that shit?!

I'm sorry to say this but while, yes, Nepotism is a thing in certain occasions, at what point do consumers of all this shite realize that they are just as much of the problem as the studios who keep pumping it out? When do people realize the toxic, God damn Ouroborus of the mainstream media cycle can only be broken when the fucking snake decides to stop chewing at the rotted remains of its own tail?!

If you want to change the schism in mainstream media, start celebrating the portions that do what you want. Start talking about the Cabinet of Curiosities', the A24 productions, the Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire's... Stop watching and hate-watching all of these shitty remakes of things.

Because, I hate to say it! Especially on a site like this one! But money! Talks! this is just a loser finding ways to partially vent but my story it's cringe, undeniably funny, and related to Danganronpa in ways So, uh yeah, if you want to read that'd be nice but if not I understand. When I say Danganronpa is the most impactful media I've ever consumed in my entire life I'm not joking.

I got into Danganronpa after GameGrumps played the first game in 2020, when they finished it I loved it so much I went on to watch someone else play Danganronpa 2. At the time my life was pretty awful, I was sort of becoming numb emotionally everything felt the same day after day, and it's stupid, but when Nagito Komaeda made me feel something after feeling so numb during that time I kind of got obsessed. It was so bad not only did I make myself so much lonelier, but I had to research hyper fixations to know I wasn't insane. So you could say Nagito caused me learning and acknowledging i'm autistic! Which sounds like a big impact until you hear the biggest one.

It was 2021 now, I was still obsessing over Nagito Komaeda and the fixation was so bad that I joined the fandom early before playing v3, Danganronpa on the Nintendo Switch was announced and I was eager and excited so I looked up a ton of reactions on Youtube. A day later Youtube recommended me a live stream, two guys were just joking and playing Danganronpa. My humor was changing but I knew that I laughed at their streams and videos so I stayed, I watched every stream I could and every video uploaded. Eventually I joined their Discord Server, I edit videos so after a while I asked the main owner of the channel for advice on videos and such, and then we bonded over some videos and songs like the v3 hated by life itself animation. After that I always thought of something to text to him every day, as a matter of fact we talked so much that I became behind on School because I'd be talking to him instead. After a while we started calling every day, and then we started face timing, and after that he had confessed to me. At the time I wasn't sure about my sexuality and I had repressed any attraction I felt for anyone out of "respect" So when he confessed to me I was able to think about it finally. It took me 3 days to think about my life and myself and I said yes and we started dating. We met in person 2 times, and dated for 2 years before he broke up with me a few months ago just because life has been hectic I suppose. The channel doesn't have any of its videos public anymore, the server is somehow barely alive for now despite one of the owners already leaving and the other just not talking much, and basically anything that came from all of it no one will know about other than the small group of mutuals that keep in touch and me making these. Most of those mutuals still don't even know that we ever dated. The channel is Emigc btw I think the only thing ever left public is someone reacting to a video he made on Danganronpa S.

anyway boohoo story sad ending but yeah that's how Nagito Komaeda helped me experience my first romantic love and know that i'm autistic, that's it. he's still funnily enough one of my favorite characters of all time i'm normal about him now at the very least Lmao. I finally got into Rain Code after the breakup since I got it for Christmas and it's stupid but it really does feel like the next step? if that makes sense? Danganronpa was the impact to my life, Rain Code is what I'm loving in the aftermath of what Danganronpa has done to my life. I honestly have loved Rain Code somehow even more than I loved Danganronpa, maybe not to the insane extent of Nagito though Lmao. Oh yeah, I also completely skipped over how Danganronpa helped me bond even more with my best friend who feels like a brother to me now but this is already long enough! I've just been making messages about what happened because those were the happiest years of my life and I miss it.

Goes to show that media really does have a grand effect on our daily lives. From my personal experience, I wouldn't have met any of my friend group, aptly named Ding Dong Bing Bong, without Danganronpa. Long story short, I started playing the first game after watching Game Grumps' playthrough of the 2nd game (and proceeded to spoil myself about the entire trilogy), and I did so in a Discord server. Someone ended up joining me during the start of the prologue, and we shared in voicing the characters. After a few days, another person joined, then another, then another. And now we're a tight huddle of ten after more than a year of playing games together!

It's interesting to hear how the Dangan series, Rain Code, and other media has affected other people as well. Meeting new people, discovering new things about ourselves, and watering our creative roots! Looking back on the moments can boost our spirits, too! I hope the future bodes well for you as you continue to enjoy your interests!

1/2: So, to be honest (and I was younger so don't blame young me for not actually going to the source material first), my first exposure to Undertale and him was a comic dub. Yep. Hold your tomatoes /j. I was hooked immediately from then on and found out that fanfiction existed 2 seconds after. However, as I'm reading this fanfic...I realize that I feel way more fond of Papyrus than I do with the character I was actually reading the fic about and that I enjoyed whenever I was reading about him...then I'm like "wait...wait..." and my love for him has grown ever since. I would watch more comic dubs just to see him, I read fanfic at crack speeds... and when I played the game itself for the first time about *looks on fingers* 3 years ago, he was just everything I knew he was. Even though comics and most fanworks at the time were always like "he's a cinnamon roll!" (he is an actual person!!!! everytime i hear this phrase nowadays I foam at the mouth and literally everything the person says is now false beyond and before "cinnamon roll" in my mind.) I always knew deep down that he was not. He's his own thing, not just fodder. Not just character development for his brother. Not just "Sans' Brother". He is the great Papyrus, not a thing to be shoved under the rug or traded for something else. And still to this day, I intake stuff about him like a vacuum and I somehow love him more every year that goes by. like a new year happens and my papyrus loving stat goes up by 100 but this year it accidentally went up by 1000 and...yea I just love him very much

2/2: I think he'd talk about how passionate I can get about some topics and how my passion for life in general is always just visible. but in his usual grandiose I think he might say something like "HIS FIERY PASSION IS ONE THAT MATCHES MY OWN!" but in reality it's just me rambling on about splatoon lore and other things that are very interesting at the moment. and also me watching summoning salts hour long videos on the history of video game speedrunning for a specific game. and just loving life in every one of its strangely beautiful aspects. and even though a lot of people in my life say this so much that i' like "probably not lol", he would probably talk about my "high intelligence and mutual love of puzzles" because I DO LOVE PUZZLES THEY ARE COOL !!! I LIKE PUZZLE GAMES I DIG PLAYING THEM. EVEN IF ITS AN OBSCURE snes game that is based off of tarot and doesn't really have anything else to it other than the puzzling aspect. *stares at magical drop 2 for nintendo switch online* and I am really good at academics (everybody in my fucking classes cheat off of me lol and everybody calls me the smartest but boohoo they're probably just trying to cheat off of me more.) and I genuinely put work into the stuff I do and I do believe that I do quite well at some things. ...I think he's the only person I'd believe about my "smartness" though. I may get practically straight A's up in the mid 90s except for a B in my math class, but I've heard that a number doesn't determine much. ...I still think he'd brag about all of that "intelligence" though, even if I (myself) don't think it's something brag-worthy.

But he is evil. If there is ever an alternate route to an end that doesn’t result in the loss of innocent lives, and you know that but you willingly choose the once that costs innocent lives, that is an evil decision. Maybe Thanos isn’t evil, but he’s not good. Far from it. He’s obsessed with this idyllic Utopia but he rushes to one method of getting there. Yes, people suffer. It sucks... it’s unfair... it’s horrible. But it is never the right of someone else to dictate whether or not said person would be better off dead. Who lives, who dies. If Thanos truly was neutral and not selfish, he would have thrown his own life into the mix of the potential 50/50 snap. Thanos is not good. He’s not misunderstood. He’s a murderer. A genocidal cult leader. I have no tears for him. Only for those who suffered more at his hands.
