Q: What is the Star Trek Winter Gift Exchange?

A: It’s a fanworks exchange for any fandom within the Star Trek universe, from The Original Series to Strange New Worlds!

Q: How does it work?

A: When you sign up, you’ll provide three options of gift ideas you’d like to receive, as well as gifts you’re open to making. Once sign-ups close, the mod will send you the url of the person you’ll make a fanwork for and their requests. You’ll have the month of January to fulfill one of the requests. Make sure your ask box is open so the mod or your Secret Santa can contact you!

Q: Do I have to make fanart/fanfic for the exchange?

A: Nope! All types of fanworks are welcome :) Fics, art, edits, fanvids, playlists, moodboards, podfics, among other things! As long as you’re creating it, it’s welcome.

A: December 29, 11:59 pm CST: sign-ups close

January 1-3: You’ll be notified who your recipient is.

"OMG SPOCK CAN'T KISS LIKE A HUMAN!" I'm gonna need y'all to shut the fuck up. Y'all have been drawing/writing Kirk & Spock fucking & kissing like humans for YEARS, but suddenly a woman comes along and it's a problem? You can headcanon/code Spock as whatever you want but you are not allowed to get upset at canon because Your ship WAS NEVER REAL!!! There was never a chance it was gonna happen. I say this as a gay man who WOULD LOVE for them to go there but 🤷🏿‍♂️.

Also it's albeist for Pike to be scared of his future? What normal human being sees & feels themselves dying becoming permanently paralyzed & doesn't want to run from that? Pike is supposed to be chipper & happy because Starfleet? The death of who he is as a man/person is coming & he's allowed to fear it, hate it. For an able bodied person to go from their life to what Chris is facing is soul destroying. He's allowed to grieve that. You're life is not over just because you're paralyzed but to act like someone facing that possibility is supposed to be honored by it & not have messy human emotions/reactions is ridiculous.

so i’ve had like a day to mull it over but actually i do think putting uhura on pike’s enterprise has some interesting implications for tos/canon in general. it gives some background to spock and uhura’s rapport from tos, which i love, but it also makes me raise my eyebrows about the menagerie. because uhura doesn’t feature in that episode... at all iirc and if you’re going to make them friends (or at the very least friendly coworkers) in strange new worlds, it just makes me ask why? surely even if they didn’t keep in contact after kirk gained command, she’d still want to visit him after he nearly DIED? especially if spock and kirk were going anyway? did they have a falling out of some kind, and what would that even look like between two of the more friendly and composed characters in trek? it just makes me go hmmm (and not necessarily in a bad way!)
