LMAO im just gonna write out my idea bc its too early along to be anywhere near a fleshed out fic:

so first i started with the idea: what if shen yuan transmigrated in way earlier and becomes a qing jing disciple at the same time as shen jiu, and becomes friends with him! He manages to make shen jiu's reputation a LOT better bc shen jiu is a lot calmer/happier, and they are in an happy, established relationship by the time luo binghe would enter the sect.

However, right before the disciple-picking day that lbh would be at (i dont remember the event name tbh), shen yuan is drowning in anxiety. yeah, he knows shen jiu is a different person than he was in pidw, significantly happier/at ease/healthier, but all the same he really really needs shen jiu not to gain the attention of lbh, or vice versa

the plan he comes up with: he will just suck and fuck shen jiu so often, so relentlessly, in so many different ways, that shen jiu will be too busy/tired to focus in any way on shen jiu, and then lbh will get no negative attention!!

but then i had a brain blast. what if it was shencest.

so shen yuan and shen jiu are brothers that went through everything and joined the peak together, and theyre attached at the hip. they love each other very much and having shen yuan around, a loving presence that will never leave him, has made shen jiu's reputation and personality much better!

Theyre pretty codependent, and if you really really get to know them you might realize that theyre kind of weird about each other. they get jealous of the others attention and hate the idea of the other having a romantic partner that could be more important to their sibling than them.

shen yuan loves his brother so, so much (too much), shen jiu is really loving and caring to him, and shen yuan considers him the toughest, best, and most handsome person in the sect. shen yuan can kind of tell that his feelings for his brother are...different than the feelings he had for his original siblings, but he is avoiding that as best he can.

with luo binghe-disciple-time fast approaching, shen yuan is starting to get nervous. How can he make sure that shen jiu doesnt focus on luo binghe? shen yuan's plan comes from his complicated feelings for his brother and the fact he very sleep deprived. for the last year, hes been having nightmares about shen jiu being tortured (and being castrated).

finally, the day before the disciple selection, he jumps his brother. he confesses his non-brotherly feelings for him and kisses him. and then sucks his dick and on and on

the next day, shen jiu just barely makes it to the disciple selection, limping slightly. nyy goes and picks a shidi without being asked bc sj is too out of it, and then when its tea pouring time he has to be nudged into drinking the tea bc the only thoughts running through his mind is "...my brother...my own brother..."

yeah so the rest of the fic is shen jiu going along with whatever deprived shit shen yuan wants. at first he tells himself its bc shen yuan is experimenting and he doesnt want to reject him or hurt his feelings, but as things go on, they both are enthusiastic participants

lqg doesnt die, partly bc sj's cultivation is better with a lack of heart demons (and also bc shen yuan gave shen jiu a lingering kiss on the neck before he entered the cave and shen jiu is running on very competent auto-pilot)

lbh doesnt get pushed, everything turns out ok, and no one finds out about the shencest bc theyve always been super sticky with each other

dunno if this has been done yet but: airplane didn’t first become aware of peerless cucumber in the comments of pidw, he first saw peerless in the comments of a different web novel (that perhaps was one of airplane’s earlier works?) and so when initially drafting pidw he was inspired to write a villain just like cucumber bc “he’s MEAN MEAN for no reason, a literature snob, and pretends to be all high and mighty while looking down on others. also likes to kick down the little guy” and boom. sqq was born. cut to years later post-transmigration when sqh just casually drops this info with “lol i always did find it funny how much you hated the guy considering he’s literally based off you”

Bingliu has all of lqg’s confidence, lbh’s social graces, and both of their crippling need to avoid failure!

Bingqiu loves himself sooooo much, is pretty detached, and definitely thinks he’s better than everyone else. He’s just helping, why are you running away!

In the ficlet I said lqg doesn’t like interacting with BingQiu (or… sqq thinks that) but really it’s because BingQiu mercilessly flirts and teases him, is effortlessly stronger than him, and kind of projects ‘oh you sweet thing, I could just eat! you! up! [pinches cheeks]’ energy and this is such a contrast from his interactions with lbh and sqq that he just gets very awkward all the time about it.

And for Shen Yuan I went with the pastely green I've been using for him before.

Everyone likes to create problems between Shen Jiu and the other peak lords. For the unnamed peak lords, its kinda a whatever thing. For the named cast, well.... Yue Qingyuan and Shen Jiu had terrible misunderstandings, secrets, and a shared past. Liu Qingge and Shen Jiu had poor first meetings, bullheaded opnions, and nasty words between them. Shang Qinghua and Shen Jiu probably had an envy problem, rumor mongering, and spy v stratigest things going on behind the scenes. Likewise, Qi Qingqi and Shen Jiu probably had rumors and general male v female misunderstandings.

All this is valid.

This consistant trope where Mu Qingfang shorts medication to Shen Jiu's peak either in revenage for Liu Qingge's death or something else is not.

Well, it is valid, but I'd like to see some different things too please.

So, here is my proposed other option for why Shen Jiu and Mu Qingfang don't get along:

Mu Qingfang's teacher was female. His rival for succeding diciple was female. And yes, he beat her out to the position some hundred years before Shen Jiu showed up on the mountain, but they were rivals still.

When Shen Jiu recieves his check ups and treatments for various wounds and malnutrition, Mu Qingfang's female teacher does it. Shen Jiu is much more comfortable with women because of his past. He's compliant with medical care and seaks it out as needed.

Then the previous generation of peak lords ascends, so Mu Qingfang takes over as everyones doctor. Shen Jiu requests the female rival to treat him instead.

What Shen Jiu meant was "I want a female doctor please."

What Mu Qingfang heard was "I do not believe you're qualified to treat me or lead your peak, I want your rival instead who should have had your job."

With the authority of a peak lord, Mu Qingfang insists he will be Shen Jiu's doctor now. Shen Jiu stops seaking medical care. While he will obey things Mu Qingfang orders as nessacary, he will not go see the man on his own free will.

Mu Qingfang is of the opnion if the idiot rather suffer then see him, fine its one less patient. He will supply the scholar with extra salves and ointments instead.

Shen Jiu would rather suffer then let a man touch him. Even for medical help. But if there is extra medication around his bamboo hut, then so be it. He can pass it to his diciples as needed.

Ning Yingying snags from the extra stores as needed for A-Lou.

With or without her Shizun's permission is up for debate. But either way, he knows what she does with it.
