Increased One Piece posting on my dash has reminded me of how way back when Ivanov was relatively recently introduced character I was unreasonably mad about the extreme body shape changes with the speedHRT hormone powers. And then also got mad about fandom ignoring Zoro's fairly character-important opinions on women and how they aren't in any way inferior to men, or different in ways that ought to matter.

Which resulted in me writing this very stupid and fun fic which I absolutely did not post online, in which Zoro got spontaneously transformed into a female version of himself by some Grand Line bullshit and ignored it, as he is wont to do anything he decides is meaningless.

And he was so buff that despite his continuing to exercise topless on deck nobody else noticed for like a week.

I'm such a latent one piece head lmao. I watched it all and caught up to the dressrosa arc when it was airing and then stopped because it felt like the worst slowest thing on the planet.

I'm still really fond of it. it's strange but has a lot of charm and really solid points. It's fun. I'd like to pick up where I dropped at some point, probably via the manga and bc im frothing at the mouth to know more abt the dude wjth the huge transgender boobs and horns I like him. I think it's hysterical how oda can have some of the most genuinely shocking trans caricatures in his media but also make them alarmingly full characters that you do enjoy, while gritting your teeth past the pervert jokes, and then somehow full circle to making trans characters in a shockingly normal way.

Ermm obviously I'm not disastrously keen on how he handles female characters. Robin and Nami both have such fun personalities and backstories and it sucks to see them bimbofied in real time but yk yk yk ykcomplicated thoughts on one piece but I have a lot of fondness for it. Brooke is good I like brooke.

Sanji's personality is unique and i love him for it

I love how stylish he is. He's well-groomed and cares about his personal hygiene. He's DRAMATIC, the straw hat's unofficial drama queen, always striking poses and rocking them. He's passionate, which is already often seen as a feminine trait, but he's passionate specifically about cooking. He cleans and takes care of domestic jobs on the Sunny; not because he has to but because he values a clean, safe space for his family. He's much more emotionally vulnerable than any other male on board, he's physically unable to control his love around women or his anger and annoyance around Zoro. He's sensitive, he started smoking because he wanted Zeff to see him as an adult. He can't help it but care about his family, even after years and years of torment and abuse. He's also sensitive to beauty, something no other male straw hat ever really shows: he appreciates food, and nature, and people, and animals (the rats, I'm going to cry). Even his fighting style can be seen as feminine (humour me for a second); he doesn't rely on brute strength or straightforward techniques. He fights elegant and fluid and intelligent. Oh god and don't get me started on Okama Island; the confusion and discomfort from seeing other men be so flamboyant and gender-noncomforming and proud. They're everything Sanji is, only a thousand-fold more.

It all gets so much more obvious after WCI. Sanji refuses to conform to the gender-affirming ideas his father put in his head from a young age. He refuses to be anything but a warm, loving, caring person like his mother. He's a perfectly written male character who's feminine traited, and he deserves the absolute world.

It's also why he fits in with the straw hats so well. Every single one of them is just a little bit fucked up. Sanji's never had a family like them: it's always been him VS the world, his personality VS the standards his father set (even at Baratie it was always his feminine traits VS a loving but incredibly male-dominated, masculine environment). I LOVE this man with my whole heart and I'll never shut up about him

Warlord!Sanji: Zeff knows he should ban them all but he made Mihawk take the kid so this is penance, and Sanji is smiling so brightly and calling them all his parents as Boa sticks a party hat on him and the family photo is a photo no one is ever going to believe a poor waiter took as they insisted "Uncle Zeff should be in it"

Golden!Sanji: It's a quiet affair, there's not even cake, it's just a normal day. Sanji finds a present on his bed and it's a book of tales specifically about the All Blue. He hugs Mihawk and thanks him.

Golden!ASL(Sanji's the s, RIP Sabo): It is very much a big thing. All their birthdays are. Luffy and Ace help Mihawk make and decorate the cake(Ace helps make it and Luffy does most of the decorating), put up decorations("Luffy please don't snap your limbs like rubber bands, Ace these are flammable-quit flying around!"), and a present they all picked out. It's a knife set in a chef roll. Sanji hugs them all and thanks them.

Shirohige!Sanji: Gets to make the menu and not the food. He is banned from the kitchen for the day. When Ace joins it's much easier because they're in so much fucking love you don't understand, Sanji is willing to take a day off for this boy, even if it his birthday(when it's Ace's he makes sure Ace only eats the food he makes)

Trafalgar!Sanji: They don't celebrate anything, he only celebrates it because Luffy found out and made him. Law thinks it's ridiculous they now have to celebrate living thanks to Sanji's boyfriend/captain making them. Ridiculous.

NBL!Sanji: it's a medium affair, there's cake and a present but no decorations and it's far more mellow than Golden!ASL but just a bit bigger than Golden!Sanji.

Hancock!Sanji: It's a royal affair of course they go all out, who do you take them for? Marines?

ASL+S: They bring home Sanji's preferred animal somehow, someway. In all of the ASL+S AUs.

Blue!Sanji: The quads always loved spicy seafood pasta. Sanji eats it every birthday. Judge always made something sweet for it, usually a pudding.

Clown!Sanji: Buggy's crew loves throwing parties, Sanji's first birthday with the crew is the biggest party they've ever thrown. Sanji's not sure how they could ever top it. And every year they do.

Redhair!Sanji: Shanks puts his coat on Sanji and lets him be captain for the day. It's the only day of the year that mutiny is not threatened.

Croc!Sanji: Oh he's blowing money. And everyone is swooning for the little prince of Baroque Works. Even Daz is smiling.

White heart!Sanji(Trafalgar+Shirohige): The crews all get together to celebrate Ace's and Sanji's birthdays and their wedding. Law lets Bepo be protective as hell. But the feast is grand and they party like there's no tomorrow.

Revolutionary!Sanji: they don't celebrate, Sabo and Sanji do not know each other's or Koala's birthdays. They do celebrate Sabo and Sanji's anniversary and Dragon tries to make sure they can be together for that(the Okama start giving them lube soon as the know, Sanji has the biggest stockpile in the blues)

Donquixote!Sanji: The four Cs: Cocaine. Cake. Cigarettes. Chaos.

Loved!Sanji: He used to spend it with his family. He still does. A royal party and a birthday shared with his brothers. But at night it's just him and Luffy and a spare cupcake Sanji snagged just for them.

Nico!Sanji: The celebration is an exchange of stories about their moms every year, private and calm.

Charlotte!Sanji: Katakuri visits him and they catch up. Katakuri loves his little brother and how free he is. He doesn't give Sanji a present, never will. Just wishes him happy birthday and receives a letter for his.

Friend!Sanji: Spends a birthday in a town with one of his friends every year. Gets woken up with breakfast and sent out to play and be a kid. He brings whoever it is back to the Baratie for dinner and cake.

I know that that “transmisogyny is taken more seriously than racism on this website” post was something you posted to be more personal and then rb’d as an experiment, but it still proves itself true time and time again. Like people on here act like liking RHPS is some kind of cardinal sin, but liking anime with literal minstrel show characters (like One Piece, Shaman King, Durarara, Dragon Ball) isn’t? It’s the same with the controversies on this website too- dykemacabre got harassed off the website for making a mistake they apologized and made up for, but p*ssvortex and t*ttletale (censored less their dickriders find them) and countless others are still here, no matter how flagrantly racist they are. It’s fucking gross.

I'm stopping you in your tracks here. I made that post more as a vent that I didn't take seriously and then reblogged to compare to another post about tme poc being very transmisogynistic on this site and crossing lines they shouldn't be crossing all the like. It wasn't just that one post, and I thinking a bit more soberly it's not that racism is taken less seriously but that the threshold for what is "cancellable" on this website is variable.

I do think white people in particular take racism less seriously than transmisogyny (although when push comes to shove these same folks are insanely transmisogynistic - even the transfems on here will say the foulest shit about other transfems if it's someone they don't like lol) but there's so many tme poc bloggers who talk a big talk about uplifting twoc but then doing absolutely nothing to do that in any tangible way, and will often use the term "white transfems" as a dogwhistle to say the most transmisogynitic shit on earth.

I'd also say that there's somewhat of a difference in that anime (and cartoons to an extent) is always given more leeway than Western live action things are, and one of your examples proves that this not only applies to racist depictions of anime characters but also transmisogynistic ones. One Piece has a whole island of trannies/fags (that's a close approximation of what Okama means) and people ignore it and act like Oda is the king of trans rep because of Yamato. Similarly, MHA had that transfem character who was a complete caricature but because it has halfway decent transmasc rep it's ignore. And I could go on to mention things like the JJBA Joseph tequila scene + it's current representation of Dragona Joestar or looking at western examples things like Him and Bugs Bunny's comedic crossdressing.

I don't know about Dykemacabre and what they exactly did but from what I recall despite apologising they reblogged another vague callout post. Or at least that's what people who were gunning for them said. But yeah as I said there's seems to be a hierarchy of what is a cancellable offence on here and honestly only certain forms of transmisogyny are taken seriously.

Nothorses is still here, same with the legendary self searcher himself doberbutts, spacelazarwolf and a litany of other transmisogynists in transmasc spaces are allowed to fester. I could get into why I think that is but I'm trying to eat a burrito right now

Speaking of Sanji, Fishman Island arc Sanji does exist and I’m here to see it all.

I thought about it…but Sanji is already a perverted ass man, and after being away from women for two years and having to sit around with the pretty okama ladies (no really, I actually loved some of their outfits and I love Ivan!) he’s bound to act such a way and act like he ain’t never seen a damn woman in his life.
