Filler Episode Poll: Answer Key
Thanks to everyone who participated, this was really cool data! So for those curious, here’s the answers with vote counts! Out of 949 votes, 268 were for the ‘Sees answers/Detco fan’ category, with the other 681 split between all these.
#9. “The gang re-enacts Home Alone in a closed department store” - 62 votes
Tumblr media
Real! Episode 17: The Department Store Hijacking Case. One of the earliest fillers, the third one ever. I dunno if it’s specifically a Home Alone reference, but it does have that vibe.
#1: “Victim is killed by culprit with a fishing pole from across the street” - 22 votes
Tumblr media
Real! Episode 53: The Mystery Weapon Murder Case. It’s a pretty basic one, just one I happen to like since it’s not technically solved by Conan himself, which fillers don’t do too often.
#5: “Conan's parents buy a nearby house to stalk him in disguise” - 95 votes
Tumblr media
Real, unfortunately. Episode 418: Home of Beika’s Grenier. This one’s pretty bad. If the character limit was longer, I would’ve added “Conan figures it out because an old man stands up wrong.”
#8. “Culprit blinds a driver with a road sign so he can crash into his car on purpose” - 42 votes
Tumblr media
Real! Episode 556: The Fearful Intersection. The culprit committed murder by making it look like he accidentally collided with another car. Gave himself a head injury and probably whiplash and everything, now that’s commitment to the bit. (I didn’t screenshot it, but after that screenshot of the cars crashing, it shows the culprit seemingly unconscious against his own airbag before giving an evil smile.)
#4: “Culprit traps Conan in a collapsing building but is saved by a celebrity cameo” - 34 votes
Tumblr media
Real, and the only two-parter on the list! Episodes 804-805: Conan and Ebizo's Kabuki Jūhachiban Mystery. Honestly I wish I had a longer character limit for this one, because the collapsing building is just one part of this whole thing involving a stolen mask, two murders, blackmail, and getting caught because of a button. The celebrity cameo is Ichikawa Ebizō XI (currently known as Ichikawa Danjūrō XIII, but was Ebizo at the time of this episode,) and focuses on the Kabuki aspect of his career, but it seems like he does a lot of things. The special really just glorifies him the whole time, though he is written as being a massive fan of the show’s idiot detective, Kogoro. Who later almost accuses him of murder.
#6: “Man is catfished by an old lady, who then fakes a murder for Instagram fame” - 198 votes
Tumblr media
Real! Episode 943: The Tokyo Barls Collection. I could’ve made this one so much longer too, and honestly I don’t even know how to screencap it. The name is a play on the “Tokyo Girls Collection” (the name of a Japanese fashion show), apparently. The group of old ladies fake an attempted murder (because one of them pretends to choke on a cabbage core and insists one of her friends put it in her food on purpose somehow) and lure in a famous detective (Kogoro, the catfished one which is also his dark souls boss name) to draw attention to their show. Their apology goes viral on social media afterwards.
This wound up being the most voted by far! I think partly because no one thought Instagram was a thing on the show. Which is fair, the show doesn’t call it that. Maybe Youtube would’ve been a better comparison since it has a view count that goes up, but whatever, same principle-- he’s what it looks like.
Tumblr media
#3: “The gang is hired to find a lost armadillo, the culprits are the Blues Brothers” - 92 votes
Tumblr media
Real, and one of my favorites. Episode 976: Follow Them! Detective Taxi. Not a favorite because it’s good, but because it’s just as insane as that summary suggests. And you can watch it dubbed on Tubi with the BangZoom cast if you want! I’m not sure why you’d want to, but that sure is a thing you can do if you want to watch Kogoro flirt with this cab driver.
#2: “Jewel thief steals pizza from children” - 80 votes
Tumblr media
Real! Episode 1068: Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya's Detective Notes. Man this show has gone on a long time. Technically the culprit only steals the boxes. Had to put the jewels inside something.
And finally...
#7: “Gun smuggling ring is stopped by a drunk remembering what happened last night” - 56 votes
Tumblr media
Fake! As far as I know. With all the episodes of this stupid show there are, maybe there’s a filler I haven’t seen that’s close to this. Oh my who left this fanfic I wrote here how strange, I wonder if the plot is similar to this fake filler episode, I guess you’d have to read it to find out

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas — VoicePlay music video
youtube
Between promoting their season of The Sing-Off and releasing the songs for their Collide collaboration album, VoicePlay didn't put out a Christmas video in 2013. They definitely made up for it in 2014 with this combination of vocal awesomeness and visual ridiculousness.
Details:
title: I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas
original performers: Bing Crosby as Jim Hardy and Marjorie Reynolds as Linda Mason in Holiday Inn (1942)
written by: Irving Berlin
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci
release date: 28 November 2014
My favorite bits:
the jaunty tempo that makes it more upbeat than the original
their festive sweaters in Geoff's fantasy sequence
an appearance from Tony's good boy Fletcher
Layne's incredible sleigh bells — I've seen him demonstrate how he does it, and it still astonishes me how real it sounds.
the fact that Earl's fantasy isn't just having a lot of cookies, but specifically having enough to satisfy him without sharing
Tony, Eli, and Layne just barely managing to keep straight faces during the candy cane chase sequence
Geoff's lovely riff and the ending harmonies
the extended slow-mo clip, complete with the guys losing it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
.
Trivia:
VoicePlay originally recorded this track for their 2012 holiday album, "Peppermint WInter".
The video got a nice listicle writeup in Buzzfeed.
This song was part of their rotating setlist for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Disney World from 2015-17.
They had previously recorded a video for an arrangement of this song as 4:2:Five (with Danny and Ryan) in 2010. It was made private along with the rest of the 4:2:Five YouTube channel when they changed their name to VoicePlay in 2012.
Eli does know what it's like to have long hair, because he used to have a full head of curly auburn locks. He decided to shave it off one day with the help of a bandmate and has maintained the look ever since.

Horror/Comedy: The most elusive genre of fiction
In many regards, it is easy to consider Horror and Comedy to be about as opposite as two genres can go. Horror seeks to cause dread and fear in the viewers, while comedy (usually) seeks to comfort them and improve their moods. A good comedy can help you feel better after a bad day - a good horror can completely ruin a good one. Maybe this is why these two don’t often collide. Another reason could be that although Comedy is easily combined with other genres, like the RomCom, Horror is hardly ever mixed. More often than not, it just branches out into other kinds of horror, like Psychological horror or Slashers.
However, something that is easy to forget is that Comedy and Horror are far more similar than one would assume. Both rely heavily in misdirection, surprising the viewer with an unexpected result. Both require perfect timing to pull off, and... well, this is not really related to my point here, but both have a tendency to be done reaaally badly when the people making them don’t care. Hack Comedy uses the not-actually-funny shorthand of fart jokes and falling down, while Hack Horror uses the not-actually-scary shorthand of jumpscares and loud sounds. Anyways.
So if they supposedly go hand-in-hand so well, why is it they almost never meet? How come there’s almost no horror/comedy? Well, for starters, they’re each separately extremely difficult to pull off. Making someone laugh is not fucking easy, and neither is scaring someone. They require tremendous amount of talent and effort to do separately, so at the same time? When they already feel opposite? Forget about it! Secondly, it’s already quite difficult to picture something that is equals parts funny and scary. How would you even do that??
The first thing that came to mind when thinking about horror/comedies were those Scary Movie movies. Though I don’t really think they fall into horror territory? They’re not scary at all, they’re just spoof movies. They don’t even come up with their own ideas, they just borrow from popular horror. And they’re not even fucking funny. Comedy (in quotes) with horror elements, not what I’m looking for.
Tumblr media
Then I started looking for artists that are good at making both Comedy and Horror. The one with the biggest audience right now is obviously Jordan Peele. It’s certainly curious to think how he went from making a sketch show to becoming a horror movie director! There’s certainly a conversation to be had about how making the former helped him become better at the latter. Problem is, he either makes one or the other, not both at the same time. So is he what I’m looking for at the moment? Nope!
Tumblr media
Then my mind then went to a favorite of mine: Jack Stauber. His unique way of creating art has allowed him to make both hilarious comedy and touchingly deep horror. His masterpiece Opal is one of the most unique takes on the Horror genre I’ve seen! It’s not only stop-motion, which is quite rare, but a musical, which is even rarer! However, that one’s just horror. What about his individual sketches? The one that got closest to what I’m looking for right now is Future, though it’s... pretty hard to say it’s a joke? I’m sure some people would find it funny, but it’s difficult to say whether it was intended as such.
Tumblr media
Don’t worry though, I didn’t come here just to talk about an idea that I thought of with 0 examples. The whole reason I wanted to make this post talking about Horror/Comedy is because I watched the perfect example, and it made me realize that I hadn’t seen much else quite like it. And the example I watched came... from The Onion
Tumblr media
Although The Onion hasn’t been on its... best streak lately - mostly reposting articles from 7 years ago and making unimpressive TikToks - the Youtube content they created in the late 2000′s early 2010′s was... brilliant. And I don’t mean that as in “funny”, I mean that as in brilliant. Expertly written, produced, and performed layered comedy that drove points home. In The Know with Clifford Banes, and Today Now! being two of my favorite pieces of satire comedy. The Onion also seems particularly qualified to tackle Horror/Comedy, as the heart of their satire was pushing the inherent darkness and cruelty of the 24 hour news cycle to its highest possible, most absurd degree. And tackle it they did, in their 9-episode mini series Porkin’ Across America
Tumblr media
Porkin’ Across America is a parody of travel shows, where Jim Haggerty, host of morning news show Today Now!, travels around the 50 states looking for the best pork he can find. As this happens, his life starts steadily falling apart in the background, unraveling into a grotesque cacophony of errors. This show is, in my opinion, the best example of the Horror/Comedy genre. Because it’s not just comedy with horror elements, or horror with comedy elements: it’s the perfect combination of the two. The setup - misdirection structure that gives both genres their kick is used in tandem, intertwined. Punchlines to jokes are also horrifying revelations and imagery. I won’t spoil the ending, but I’ll just say this: the last line that is uttered is both the hilarious punchline to a series-long running joke, and such a horrible thing to say at that moment that it will send shivers down your spine. I highly recommend watching it, but be warned: the specific type of horror this show uses is body horror. You’ll be laughing, but you’ll also be extremely uncomfortable by the imagery. Definitely avoid this if that’s not your thing.
Tumblr media
Horror/Comedy is one of the rarest genre combinations in fiction, for a variety of reasons. It’s difficult to pull off, horror hardly mixes with other things, and most people don’t even know it can exist. But it can! And when it’s done well it’s an extremely unique experience, one that I believe is worth experiencing.
I hope my explanation of this topic was clear enough, and I’m really excited to hear what you guys think! Can you think of any other work that could be defined with this genre? If so, I’d really like to hear it~
Thank you for reading this whole stupid thing if you did! Yui OUT!

Do you have any favorite youtube channels? Or anything you're learning about, whether that's a skill/hobby or just something you're interested in? What was the best mundane part of your most recent travels? (Like, a meal that was better than expected or a quiet moment you really felt at peace in or a small exchange with a stranger that will stay with you)
Most of the channels I follow are tv-related ones, like The Kelly Clarkson Show, Strictly Come Dancing, Collider Interviews, Entertainment Weekly. I do follow Toni & Ryan, who I think are hilarious.
I'm currently reading How to be Perfect by Mike Schur, who created The Good Place. I read Sophie's World when I was a teenager and it sparked an interest in philosophy.
I had the most amazing lobster roll when I was in Washington D.C. at a place called The Grill on the waterfront.
One of my favourite moments, oddly, was in Boston on the Friday morning. It was towards the end of our holiday, the weather was rubbish and I'd been a little unwell, so was feeling lazy. We found Pearl Harbour on the tv and ended up watching it until the end. Not exactly what you travel thousands of miles to do, but it was exactly what I needed in the moment.
Thank you for the questions!

tragic love songs to study to (vol. 5)
Tumblr media
[DUCKBOY] (2023)
Tragic Love Songs To Study To is Ruby da Cherry (from $uicideboy$) newest solo project. Going by the name DUCKBOY for this album adding to his ever-growing list of aliases. Personally something I have been waiting for, for a long fucking time. Ruby (DUCKBOY) managed to tap into his roots in punk and created this mini album. Much to the upset of most of his zoomer iPad baby fanbase who only want KILL MYSELF! DRUGS! SATAN!!! music.
Track 1: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
"You may hang up or press 1 for more options"
To be honest as an intro track I have heard better, It does set a pretty good (dial)tone for the theme of the album. (people bothering him and trying to call him)
Track 2: ROUGAROU (i've become the monster
"Let's pull back the tide and see if the moon is dead!"
ROUGAROU starts off the album strong with that signature 2000's emo pop-punk vibe. I'm a huge fan of Ruby in general but I feel on songs like this his potential as an artist shines best. His style of singing is so suited to this type of song and it's a shame he hasn't made music like this sooner lol. (yeah before you try and be a smart ass I have listened to his punk shit from his old bands, ur not cool for knowing that) Also the hook of the song is so fucking catchy it's been stuck in my head since the album came out. "I HAVE ALL NIGHT TO HUNT, I PROMICE TO PROTECT YOU WITH MY CURSE!" insane.
Track 3: where y'at, duckboy?
"Oh my god, call me ASAP..."
Interesting choice to put an interlude as the 3rd track on the album, but it is only a 7 song album so I guess it is more forgivable. That being said I actually really like this song. It carries on with the theme of people calling Ruby and bothering him. The simple hip-hop trap beat with that smooth bass kinda fucks to be honest.
Track 4: XXL hadron collider
"I ain't crying over spilt milk, but who's gonna clean this mess?"
Track four thrusts us right back in that 2000s emo mindset. Singing about suicide and betrayal has never been so cool to be honest. This is probably my favorite song on the album solely because it has such a nostalgic sound to it. This song just reminds me of being super young watching AMV's on YouTube in 2008. Like listen to this song and tell me this doesn't remind you of that. And again Ruby flexes on us with his talent of writing catchy hooks. Also the vocal style switch up between verse one and two is unmatched.
Track 5: my love life needs a lobotomy
"I spent the whole night throwing up your spiiit!"
Track four and five seamlessly flow into one another. I mean the song is only 41 seconds so it's pretty much just verse three of track four separated into it's own track. BUT IT'S A FUCKING GOOD SONG DAMNIT! like really fucking good. Not really much else to say about this one.
Track 6: where y’at, duckboy?? "Call me back dawg..."
Another interlude. More voicemails. More chill-hop beats. If I had to compare this one to the other interlude I prefer the other one. Although the girl who says "Thank you" at the end sounds cute :3
Track 7: after further reasoning, i’m going to bed
"I'll live as long as my little lungs last!"
Last track of the album. Track seven is another pop-punk song, using catchy guitar riffs and upbeat drums. Ruby shows off his versatile voice on this song using different vocal styles and a good variety of pitch. Homeboy went crazy not gonna lie. Another memorable song IMO. Just another thing to add to my long, long list of good Ruby songs and verses.
Overview: tragic love songs to study to (vol. 5)
I know I was essentially throating Ruby in this review but what can I say? I love the dude. He's a huge inspiration for me. Personal opinions aside ill say the good and bad about the album as a whole.
It's fuckin' short. Like short as fuck. Like out of the 7 songs we have an intro and 2 interludes. That only leaves 4 actual songs, one of which is only 41 seconds long. That being said, the full songs on this album are fucking amazing. Like really, really good. If you are into 2000s pop-punk, emo nostalgia shit. Check this out. The songs are super catchy, well produced and well written. This album has been a long time coming since Ruby has hinted at a solo project for years and I'm hoping for more in the future!
Rating: 8/10
If there's any typos or inconsistencies in this review it's because I can't be bothered to proof read it.

Host: Hi guys! Welcome back to my channel! It’s 2023 and for the past few years, we have lived with the COVID-19 pandemic. We couldn’t help but reminisce about our childhood when our lives were easy and simple. Today, I’m joined by a friend to look back on our childhood nostalgia!
Friend: Hi everyone! I’m excited to be a part of today’s video! My friend and I will be showing a couple of things that will dig up some old memories. Try not to become sentimental hahaha.
Host: Oh, I'm sure you'll get emotional. Maybe I will too.
Friend: I bet you’ll even tear up a bit.
Host: I won’t! So, without further ado, let’s get started!
Tumblr media
Host: When we were kids, we loved toys! Didn’t you? We have toys that we pay more attention to, than others. Mine were Bratz and Barbie dolls. There were different kinds that came in different looks and outfits.
Tumblr media
Each day was another day, another slay for these dolls. We also did roleplay one way or another, right? Perhaps with dollhouses or toy kitchens? I bet you wanted a mini kitchen with a sink or a toy cash register that made beeping noises! They went perfectly with some props we found lying around. One example was our use of baby powder and leaves or flower petals that we would cut into pieces to look like food. As for me, I would go to Youtube and follow a tutorial on how to make my miniature props. It was so much fun!
Friend: So that’s where you got your creativity.
Host: You’re absolutely right! You know me too well.
Friend: Of course, I do! On the other hand, action figures like Transformers, Gundam, and superheroes like Spiderman and Hulk, were my thing! Almost every character had a mini version of themselves as action figures. I think action figures are so popular because they allow us to picture ourselves as our favorite characters while we play.
Tumblr media
Host: I remember the way you’d beg me to play Hulk and you as Spiderman.
Friend: And I would always beat you hahaha.
Host: You’d always beat me because I didn’t know a thing about superheroes, neither was I interested in them! Anyway, some toys were made for battle like Bakugan and Beyblade. You can buy arenas to play them on, but most kids would just play them on the ground.
Friend: I envy those kids who had arenas. They got to feel the whole experience! Playing them on the ground was still a lot of fun, but the Beyblades didn’t always collide! It also took ages to find it if you didn’t see where it went. To this day, I wish I had an arena.
Host: Awww, poor you! Bawi nalang next life hehehe.
Friend: Please don’t make fun of my childhood hardships… :(
Host: :o
Friend: I’m just kidding! Anyway, last but not the least, the toys that challenged our creativity as kids like Play-Doh, erasable doodle boards, and Lego bricks.
Host: The possibilities are endless with these types of toys! Did you have that set where you can make different foods out of Play-Doh? Or maybe those Lego kits where you can build different types of structures?
Friend: Oh, I remember that I used to have a Lego kit for creating a gas station! However, I was unable to finish it because I lost some of the parts…
Host: This is why, my dear viewers, you should always be organized with your things! Moving on…
Tumblr media
Host: Games were a huge part of our childhood. There were video, outdoor, and board games. Let’s first start with video games. Back then, there were several game websites on the internet like Y8.com and Friv.com. I know you were also on these websites all day! They provided us with numerous games that we sometimes play on our own or with friends in multiplayer mode. Papa’s Burgeria, Fireboy and Watergirl, Bartender: The Right Mix, and Cooking Mama, were some games that I bet you played too. If you know, you know.
Tumblr media
Friend: I remember those games! And how you didn’t want to play with me. :(
Host: Well, I had homework to do, ever heard of that?
Friend: Haha, very funny.
Host: Anyhow, if we didn’t have internet, we would play games on the Game Boy, PlayStation Portable or PSP, and many more consoles. We would beg our parents to buy us disks of the games we were interested in.
Friend: Oh, the lengths we’d go to just to get them to buy us the stuff we want! I was willing to do anything— even the chores that weren’t mine, just for that Pokemon disk.
Host: I know right??? And some games we played on Game Boy including what you just mentioned, Pokemon and Super Mario. While Tekken and The Sims can be played on the PSP.
Tumblr media
Friend: But if we couldn’t play on the computer or the video game consoles, we'd instead play on our family tablet, iPad, or even our parents' phone. Some of my favorite games here were Plants vs. Zombies, Angry Birds, Temple Run, Fruit Ninja, and Flappy Bird! I was so addicted to these games that my parents had to hide the gadgets from me!
Host: And that’s a perfect example of why you shouldn’t play too many games, kids! But when we get tired of the screen or we get frustrated because we keep losing our games, we would go and play outdoor games instead. Some of the most popular ones were hopscotch, tag, and hide-and-seek. I remember that time we played tag and someone pushed you a little too hard. You cried like a baby!
Friend: Of course, I cried! It hurt so much! Maybe 10 times more than the time I had to get my flu shots!
Host: Just admit that you’re a crybaby.
Friend: No, I’m not! Anyway, as Filipino kids, we also enjoyed traditional games like Luksong baka, Ice ice water, and Chinese garter. We used to play these with our neighbors or with our classmates during break or after school. Hey, remember that time you tripped on a rock while playing Ice Ice Water? You should’ve seen your face! I swear, it was the same face you made when you found out that Taylor Swift and Harry Styles broke up!
Tumblr media
Host: Maybe it was because you were the first person I saw after tripping. You were so ugly, I almost wanted to cry hahaha! Crazy to think I still carry the scars I got from all those games!
Friend: I think our scars are a great reminder of our childhoods. It brought back memories of the time we had spent as kids playing with our friends! As long as we were having fun while playing, it didn't matter whether we got hurt. Despite the amount of times we cried, at the end of the day each scar was just a happy little accident!
Host: I 100% agree with you! And regardless, if we’re not in the mood to play the games that we mentioned, we would play board games. Some popular 2000s board games were Monopoly, Jenga, Snakes and Ladders, and Dominoes. I would always beat my friend in these games. I guess I’m the brainier of the two of us!
Friend: Hey, that’s not true. To all the viewers out there, please do not believe what this person is saying. Let’s just move on to the next…
Tumblr media
Friend: Our last nostalgia for today is cartoons. Back when we were kids, we would start our day by watching cartoons, and we would even end the day the same way. If you had TV cables like Sky or Cignal, there were specific channels just for cartoons.
Host: If you didn’t have cable, you would just watch what was being shown on your TV channels, even though some were dubbed.
Friend: The only downside of watching cartoons on TV channels is you have to wait for the cartoon show to come up! Some are on the TV only in the morning or every other day. Unlike in TV cables, channels like Cartoon Network, Disney, and Nickelodeon show cartoons almost 24/7!
Host: So true! Also, I don't know if it was just me but as a kid, I didn’t pay much attention to the dialogue in cartoons, I didn’t even take the time to understand what the characters were saying. Were you also like that?
Friend: I knew I wasn’t the only one!
Host: Right??? Still, just watching it somehow gave us an idea of the story or what it is about. As long as we found the animation satisfying and the cartoon funny or cool, it was an instant favorite. Some of my favorites were The Powerpuff Girls, Courage the Cowardly Dog, The Fairly OddParents, and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
Friend: My personal favorites were Looney Tunes, Jimmy Neutron, and Chowder. I really enjoyed it when classes would get canceled and I would spend the rest of my day watching cartoons. I was living the life!
Tumblr media
Host: We were living life!
Friend: And we still are!
Host: These were just some of the things from our childhood that I hope will remind us of our innocent and carefree days. Reflecting on our memories is a good thing, but doing so with a friend is much better. We shared moments of laughter, craziness, and tears, as well as giving and receiving support from them. What's stopping us from doing the same with them now if we've done it before?
Friend: When we are feeling down, it is always helpful to reflect on our memories. It brings us comfort and motivates us to be kind to ourselves, that we once had this beautiful innocence. It can help us achieve the dreams we once thought were impossible to reach, no matter how silly they may be.

Well, since Death Battle’s newest season isn’t here yet...
Tumblr media
Death Battle is a great series. Even ignoring my obvious bias, it is the Gold Standard other Vs Series should strive to be. Of course, to be the Gold Standard there should be other Vs Shows on Youtube. And since it’s still a month away, let me make 5 suggestions. Key Point: to be considered a Vs Series in my eyes, it has to be Researched Based. Animation is not a Requirement.
Tumblr media
1 - Crypto Xing
The things that scare people the most are the things that go bump in the night. Who knows what kind of spooky story, scary legend, or even creepy creepypasta is out there and what they could do to you. But have you ever wondered what they could do to each other? That’s where Xenunnaki comes in. They do the research behind these creatures and determine who wins by their capabilities and what they could likely do to each other. There’s currently 11 episodes with Season 2 on the way: Slender Man Vs an Opponent chosen by their audience. Will he face the 8-Foot Tall Woman called the Hachishakusama, the more recent Creepypasta in Siren Head, the Movie Star the Blair Witch, or a fourth option that you can write in?
Recommended Episode: Wish-Granting Tricksters | Djinni vs Leprechaun
Basically this is putting the movie villains from the Leprechaun Vs the Wishmaster only the actual legends based around them. There is no fight animation, but there is a lot of interesting information to learn from it. And it may answer the movie version.
Tumblr media
2 - Goji Center
Do you like giant monsters? This Vs Channel is up your alley. I’m saying Channel because their series doesn’t really have a name. As you can guess, their specialty is with Godzilla but they have done Pacific Rim, Attack on Titan and even Jurassic Park and scientifically accurate dinosaurs. While there are few Animated Fights, the editing and host is the real treat. Very informative and the editing really is a treat as you see measurements, size comparisons, area of attack and so on. They really explain their thought process and let you know exactly why they think said creature wins. And if they’re not doing Vs, they have scenarios, explanations of creatures and events, lots of fun content if you like giant monsters.
Recommended Episode: Toothless vs Godzilla Battle to the DEATH...Who wins? | 3D Combat Analysis Breakdown
Off the bat, they know Toothless would lose. But the Analysis is more about how well Toothless would do if he decides to not kneel to Godzilla. And it is pretty impressive showing how tactical both Toothless and Monsterverse Godzilla are. It’s like a very realistic example of what an encounter between them would really be like.
Tumblr media
3 - Battle Royale and Limit Break
I’m putting these two together since they haven’t updated in a long time. While Battle Royal promises to return, Limit Break hasn’t made a new episode in 4 years. But still, I believe these two series are worth a watch as they are both, in my opinion, the closest to reach Death Battle’s overall quality.
With Battle Royale, my personal favorite part is of the four hosts, there is one who analyzes a character and has a clear favoritism for them. I really enjoy the stabs they give each other during a character rundown. It really makes it stand out among the crowd and I hope it continues when it returns.
With Limit Break, as I said, it’s extremely close to the quality of Death Battle. The Hosts are entertaining, the editing is on point and even the fight animations are pretty cool. They have a lot more on their channel if you prefer that, but still overall a great Vs Series.
Recommended Episode: Vampire Batman VS Zombie Spider-Man (DC × Marvel) | Battle Royale Bonus and Bubsy VS Gex (Accolade VS Square Enix) | Limit Break
In my opinion, these two are their best episodes to showcase the overall quality of their work. If you’re not entertained by these fights, I don’t know what will...
Tumblr media
4 - FCC (Fictional Characters Collide)
Like the above I do think these are really great hosts. They have distinct personalities and are entertaining to hear on their own. And the fight animations, while some can be a little rough, still are pretty entertaining. They’re even going to have a finale where we’ll see Alucard from Hellsing Vs Vampire Hunter D. That’s a match I was looking forward to seeing behind Alucard Vs Dio. And I’m definitely sure they’re going to deliver it.
Recommended Episode: Deoxys Vs Boros
This was the first episode I remember seeing of theirs and it is a very interesting matchup pitting two Aliens against each other. And the fight was pretty fun thanks to the inclusion of dialogue. It’s like an actual One Punch Man dialogue with Deoxys incapable of talking back. And the fight itself is pretty fun too.
Tumblr media
5 - Galaxy Video
Another Channel Suggestion because, besides their other stuff, they have two Vs Related Series. Multiverse Match which is your traditional Vs Series Show and Galaxy Grudge Match. That series is different in a lot of ways. The biggest being it’s not about who would win in a fight but who would do better in a scenario. So like with Piccolo Vs Garnet, it’s not about who would win in a fight but who would lead a little league team to their first victory. Pretty much, both series provide a lot of fun matchups and Scenarios. You’ll be in for a treat and probably find a new series to enjoy.
Recommended Episode: The Fonz Vs Steve Urkel (Happy Days Vs Family Matters)
A big example of their creativity and unique ideas. They go over everything the two bring into the picture and the fight is just fun. Really enjoyable and showcases everyone’s personalities. The Hosts, the characters fighting, even the robot that shows up. Really fun episode.
And these are my recommendations. Do you have a favorite Vs Series not Death Battle? Like Not Death Battle? Or Smash Bracket?

parisocial relationships & rebirth
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
damn guys it took me forever to process this post!1!!!!111!!!
pain!!!! but it's okay lets catch up.
as per usual i am merging all of my interests and somehow colliding them simultaneously. esthetician school has been good thankfully. im used to the trails and tribulations of capitalism and the beauty industry. me used to it lol. aside from that; i saw Frost Children for the third time in concert as well as atlgrandma and Dorian Electra for the second time. granted it was phenomenal as to be expected but the short lived conversation that i ended up having with Lulu and Angel was semi heart breaking. but i wont let my favorite artists becoming more mainstream affect my live for them again. i have learned to distance myself from expectations and unhealthy parisocial relationships and instead just continue to love people unconditionally. because people like frost children work so hard to make a name for themselves and their art and i will always deeply respect and appreciate that. i told Lulu that i had a very intense depressive episode recently and that their art got me out of that. they were a little startled to hear that (i should've expected that) but they were so kind as always reassuring me that they're happy that im doing better but that what they do isn't even all that serious. but thats the point. i love not taking life seriously. it makes life so much more fun and enjoyable not only for myself but for others as well. regardless i will always love Angel and Lulu. i will always respect the fact that they're such genuine and kind souls while also having fun and encouraging others to stick a middle finger up to the predictable.
i am blessed that i am somewhat out of that rut again. i just had to listen to those who love me. i love my friends more than anything. when i went to that show last night i went with my best friend Lex. i love her more than anything because she keeps me grounded and reminds me that my existence is important and valid. and that you can be a fan of artists such as JPEGMAFIA and remain to be queer as fuck. she's so fucking awesome and i will always appreciate that about her. she treasures me that aside from my traumas of narcissists i will never have the ill intent (hopefully) to end up like someone of that sorts.
i will never forgive thou that shall not be named for how they made me feel. cutting narcissists out of my life was one of the best decisions that i have ever made in my entire life. unfortunately not everyone appreciates and savors unconditional love. i wish i could love every being the same, but some people just refuse to let me in. that is their issues and nothing of my concern.
ive been watching a lot of Drew Monson's youtube videos. he reminds me of the people in my life that i love. and he basically saved my life. his quick witted humor and loveable personality keeps a warmth in my heart. when i was going through my episode, he understood me and helped me out of it through humor, love for pop culture, and overall relatable qualities that i find hard to find from others.
anyways. im going to take a break from chronically online to try to write a poem for my grandma. in conclusion. i will always love Dorian Electra, for reminding me that irony can be sexy and fantastic in queer artistry. that disappointment is okay, and that swaggery always oozes out of me as well as you. no matter how you choose to express it.
much love. 5 ever 👁‍🗨🙏🏻🕊 ~ princess xeon

Longtime follower here. You’ve gotten me curious about musicals but I don’t think I’ve ever watched one. Only thing close to a musical I’ve seen is ABBA (the film)? I did like that one (I do love ABBA) Does that count? Any recommendations for a newbie?
Oh, dear follower, you’ve unknowingly set me off.
The ABBA musical is Mamma Mia, a jukebox musical. I hate jukebox musicals. They’re cheap and lazy and appeal to the average person already knowing and liking the pre-written songs. I was just talking to one of my friends recently and he said he liked Mamma Mia, and I said, “No you don’t, you like ABBA.”
He thought about it and said, “…Oh yeah, you’re right. I thought the story was really stupid.”
The reason why jukebox musicals fail is because they’re pretty much antithetical to how a musical is supposed to work. In a good musical, each song is supposed to reveal something new about a character, move the plot forward, or both. A musical is an album telling a single story. Jukebox musicals inherently cannot do this, or at least not do it well, because the songs weren’t originally written to tell a larger story or be part of a character’s larger arc! Pop songs are always written to be standalone, so they cannot be squished together to tell a larger story in a coherent, well-thought-out way. The songs just weren’t designed for that. That’s why the stories of jukebox musicals are typically so threadbare and the songs are really forced.
I’m saying all of this to explain why I hate them lol, instead of giving a simplistic, “they’re not real musicals.” But they’re not, and that’s^ why. Even Queen has a jukebox musical, and I have no interest in it lol
So let’s talk about real musicals!
If you’ve never really sat down and watched one before, there are some I wouldn’t recommend right away, so let me see:
Sweeney Todd. It’s my favorite show of all time and one of the most complex musical scores in American theater. It’s dark, it’s sometimes comedic, it’s screwed up and presents everything in a very matter of fact way instead of an edgelord way. There are a lot of differences between the film and stage show—in summary, the film actually adapted the show into a movie while the stage show works as a Broadway show!—but I’m not going to go into all of that in this post. If it’s your first musical, watch the movie. It’s played much more straight and with faster pacing that makes it more accessible to a non-theater-going audience. This is a film about a man who returns to London after being wrongly imprisoned for 15 years and seeks revenge on the man who ruined his life, raped his wife, and stole his baby daughter, all the while his former landlady is in love with him and an accomplice to his serial killing, so be warned that the film is rated R. Bonus points for eventual implied cannibalism. Sweeney Todd is insane to talk about out of context lmao but trust me, give it a chance. It was written as a horror movie for the stage
Into the Woods. This is also by American theater god Stephen Sondheim, and yes there’s a movie, but it got the tone completely wrong. The entire Broadway production with the original cast is right on YouTube! It’s a satire on fairy tales, and it’s what happens when multiple fairy tale characters collide in pursuit of their wishes. Act One ends with happily ever after—and Act Two is when everything goes wrong and multiple people die! It’s a really funny show, but it’s genuinely moving and sad by the end. Like any good fairy tale, there’s a moral of the story. It’s among Sondheim’s greatest work.
Jesus Christ Superstar. This is by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. It’s a 1970s rock opera about the last week of Jesus’ life, heavily featuring Judas as a sympathetic character, a tortured soul. The 1973 film is the best version out there and there are many clips on YouTube. Listen: it’s a period piece. It’s hilariously, amazingly 1970s, but the music is genuinely great, it presents Christ as a troubled man and not a god, and Judas is a compelling character. Start with the song “Heaven on Their Minds” at the beginning of the show to see if you’re interested
Fiddler on the Roof. Oh man, this one gets me. The entire film is also on YouTube right now. It’s about a small, traditional Jewish village in Czarist Russia in about 1910, and centers around Tevye, a loud, devoutly religious man who believes in the Jewish traditions of his village, but has his ways directly challenged when his daughters each gradually step away from tradition with who they want to marry. There’s also political tensions with the Russian government growing gradually hostile to Jews, so the story is about a lot of things, a lot of different ways a person’s way of life, beliefs, and traditions are challenged in life. It’s another show that’s kind of hard to describe, but trust me, it’s a funny, beautiful, and well-written show and it makes me cry.
Hamilton. Yes, it really is that good. No, don’t listen to this insane website about it. It’s well-written, engaging, entertaining, and does highlight an important figure on American history while sending the message through the music and diverse casting that the story and founding “myth” of America is for everyone, even people who look very different from the way the actual Founding Fathers did, because one of the messages is that you have no control over who tells your story.
Les Misérables. It’s just a great story with a lot of universal themes, like oppression, poverty, faith, misery, unrequited love, rising up against corruption (and failing 🙃). It’s a long story in post-revolutionary France, but I think the movie tells it pretty coherently. The movie does have problems though, like Russel Crowe as Javert was a huge disappointment because that’s such a great part, but it might be the most accessible version of the show. I like the 10th anniversary concert a lot, but yeah, it’s in concert and not staged out like in an actual production
I’d say start with those and then get back to me if you want any more lol. If you have any questions, come back here

Your Brain Freeze Secret (Caspar Lee x Reader)
"Hey! It's Y/n here, again. Today we're going to talk about..."  You  sat on your bed where you filmed your videos, recording a test intro to  make sure that everything looked okay when you played it back.
You  were a fairly casual person in everyday life, but on YouTube you were  known for wearing girly, conservative, vintage clothes. Your hair was  always done, You wore plenty of lace, and red lips were present in every  one of your videos.
It had never been your intention to  hide your tattoos, but after 25 or so videos you realized you had never  shown a single one. From then on out you decided to keep them your  secret. You were almost completely covered in them so you occasionally  had to re-film a bit of your video because a sleeve slipped or a  neckline dropped too low.
You were currently setting up  for video number 200 and something and you were finally getting to  collab with one of your favorite YouTubers.
Caspar - "Almost there!"
You - "Everything is ready to go. :)"
Caspar - "Apt 423, right?"
You - "Yup! See you soon!"
The  two of you had met through some mutual friends and actually hit it off  right away. You loved his sense of humor and the fact that he was  interested in politics and charity.
"Y/n!" Caspar yelled, walking into your flat and pulling you into a dramatic hug.
"Hey, Casp." you laughed. "Have you figured out what you want to film for your channel?"
"I'm still trying to get you to do the Brain Freeze Challenge." he whined, letting you go.
"Dude, it's not happening!" you said for the hundredth time.
"Everyone says that." he laughed, dropping his bag on your couch.
The  two of you had filmed a fake "Couple's QnA" video for your channel and  had been lounging on your bed talking for a few hours.
"Are you excited about your first YouTube convention?" Caspar asked, having been to dozens himself.
"I'm  nervous, actually." you answered. "My subscribers have only seen me in  videos. I've never done live interviews and I've only met a handful of  them by accident at a store or on the street."
"Awwww, don't worry." Caspar pulled you to him. "People are going to be so excited to meet you and get pictures with you."
"I've just never had my two worlds collide like that." you said, leaning into Caspar.
"It's not as scary as you think it is." Caspar said. "Just be yourself."
You  sat there snuggled with Caspar for a few minutes thinking about what to  do about your tattoos. There was no way they'd go completely unnoticed  during a three day convention where you were going to be hugging people  and posing for pictures.
"Hey, Casp?" you said, needing input.
"Whats up?" he asked.
"I uh. I have a secret. Or a confession, rather." you said, sitting up.
In true Caspar form, he put on a show. "Let me guess, you're married." he fake cried.
"You always make me fell better." you laughed, hugging Caspar and kissing him on the cheek. "I'll be back."
You  grabbed jean shorts and a black tank top and left your bedroom.  Changing in the bathroom and staring at yourself in the mirror, you  wondered why you had kept your tattoos a secret for so long. Your family  and non YouTube friends knew about them. You were proud of them. You  loved the art and they all reminded you of different moments in your  life. The contrast made you laugh. You had just been wearing a poofy  sleeved vintage dress and tights and now you were staring at tattooed  thighs and scripted words permanently inked into your skin.
"Caspar, close your eyes." you yelled from the bathroom to the bedroom.
"They're closed!" he replied.
"Caspar, don't peek. I need to talk a bit before you see. Please just keep them closed." you asked, walking into the room.
"I promise." Caspar said with his hands covering his eyes. You couldn't help but think he was adorable.
"So,  everyone from YouTube knows me as the dainty girly girl that wears  weird clothes from when their grandparents were kids." you laughed,  watching him nod. "Well, I have a bit of a secret and I think I need to  make a video about it before the convention. I don't want people to be  shocked when they meet me in person."
"Well if you're not married, what's your secret?" Caspar asked.
"Caspar, just look." you laughed.
Caspar's mouth dropped open and his eyes went wide. "Holy shit." he said, scooting to the edge of the bed.
"This is why I wasn't going to do the ice bath." you explained.
Caspar's hands were on either side of his face and he kept looking you up and down.
"Say  something." you said, squirming. You thought of all people, Caspar  would be the easiest person to tell, but he just stared at you.
"I um. Holy shit." Caspar repeated. "Sorry, I just. Holy shit."
"Caspar." you whined, turning to leave the room.
"No, no, no. Y/n." Caspar stood up and pulled you into a hug. "I didn't mean that in a bad way."
"How did you mean it then?" you asked, laughing a bit, feeling better now that you were tucked inside Caspar's arms.
"Well,  I actually wanted to tell you earlier that I liked you but I chickened  out during the QnA." Caspar said, leaning his head back to look at you.  "And now its obvious that you're way too cool for me." he laughed.
"Oh, shut up." you tickled Caspar's side.
"Ah,  stop!" he dove onto the bed to escape. "I'm not kidding." he said,  crawling up the bed. "I know that I joke a lot about dating people, but I  was going to ask you on a proper date during the QnA."
"Then why didn't you?" you asked, fidgeting with the hem of your shirt.
"I told my friends and they all said you were too classy to date someone like me." he laughed.
"Well your friends are wrong." you said, sitting next to him on the bed. "I like you quite a lot."
"Wait." Caspar said, his face lighting up. "You'd really go out with me?"
"Of  course." you laughed, Caspar practically tackling you into the bed.  "You really don't care about my tattoos?" you asked, Caspar still  rocking the two of you back and forth dramatically.
"No way." he said, pulling back to look at you. "I told you, they just make you way cooler than I am."
"Impossible." you replied, pulling him in for a quick kiss.
"WAIT!" Caspar practically yelled. "Now you can do the Brain Freeze Challenge!"
"Oh, god. I'm not getting out of this, am I?" you laughed, standing up to get your bathing suit.
Sitting  back down in front of your camera wearing your bath robe, you were  going to film a different ending to your QnA. You and Caspar had just  filmed the Brain Freeze challenge and you wanted to make sure your  subscribers knew to watch it.
"Hey, guys! I know that  we've both changed clothes and I'm soaked, but I needed to tell you to  make sure to watch Caspar's video. I have a really big announcement and  you don't want to miss it." you said to the camera.
Caspar  quickly interjected at the end, throwing his arm around you. "Since  you're making an announcement in my video, I'm making one in yours." he  said, looking over at you. "Y/n agreed to let me take her on a date."  Caspar kissed your cheek.
"I did." you smiled over at him  before quickly kissing his cheek in return. Turning back to the camera, you  continued. "I'll put the link to Caspar's video in the description, so  make sure you check it out! I don't think any of you guys saw this one  coming." both of you waving to the camera.
--------------------
A/n - I've never written for Caspar before. I don't know why, but I always struggle to make sure it's authentic enough. Hopefully a few of you enjoy this. <3

Change — Layne Stein music video
youtube
Although The Sing-Off was a competition show, many of the participants bonded over their love of making music, and some have continued to work together in the years since their time in the TV spotlight. When Layne found himself with some extended time at home following the birth of his daughter, of course it was time to make some more music with one of his favorite past collaborators. And Christina's new, hopeful ballad came along at just the right moment.
Details:
title: Change (feat. DeeDee)
original performer: Christina Aguilera
written by: Christina Aguilera, Fancy Hagood, & Flo Reutter
arranged by: Layne Stein
release date: 30 July 2016
My favorite bits:
watching Layne gradually build the layers of rhythm, countermelody, and harmonies (He has the range, darling!)
DeeDee's gorgeous, soulful lead vocals
those lovely ascending bell chords
the gasp and exhale behind ♫ "everybody's breathing" ♫
Layne's smooth harmonized riffs in the bridge
the extra grit DeeDee puts into the final chorus and outro section
pulling back to the simplicity of just lead vocals and clapping for the coda
Trivia:
Layne and DeeDee met when their respective a cappella groups, VoicePlay and Ten, competed on the fourth season of The Sing-Off.
Layne had previously spearheaded VoicePlay's "Collide" project, creating music videos with folks from other Sing-Off groups that they released as season 4 aired. And DeeDee was their final guest artist during the initial run.
This is the only video on the Laynee YouTube channel to date (and only one of two on the Facebook page), but it's not like the guy isn't busy enough with VoicePlay, PattyCake, and his ever-growing extended family.

Multiple Trains In My Lyme Challenged Brain!!
I will get back to MY Lyme journey for this blog post since I have had multiple trains derailing all over the place in my Lyme challenged brain the past few days. #lymechallenged
But let me start out by telling you that because of my Lyme challenged brain, I have problems thinking of the names of things. For example, at one point in the past several years I was living in my parents basement, which is a whole other story! I was using a small desk fan of my mothers and I broke it. I went upstairs to tell her I broke her fan and would buy her a new one. By the time I got up the stairs, I could not for the life of me think of the word "fan". A simple three letter word that I have used throughout my life. I was telling her that I broke her "thing that spins around and blows air to cool you off." She looked at me like I had lost every last marble left in my head. That was in 2017 or 2018 and it has only continued to get worse. For the past couple of days I have been trying to think of the name of something that I wanted to post on here. I wasn't even sure how to word it so I could Google it. Then I remembered Google Lens. So I drew a quick "sketch" of what it should look like in my mind and used Google Lens to search for the name of it. I am certainly NOT an artist unless I take my time and really concentrate hard! But that is neither here nor there. This is my drawing (it is perfectly okay to laugh…I have been cackling all morning!)
Tumblr media
Let me tell you that Google Lens came up with everything except what it actually was. Google came up with a propeller, a windmill, a clock, a wagon wheel, a fan, a bunch of kids drawings of various things, the sun, and the three that I couldn't help but laugh at: a snail, "problems in the prison", and my personal favorite… a Volkswagen. HUH??? A Volkswagen??? So how did I finally figure out what word it was I was looking for? When my kids were young, they used to watch Thomas the Tank Engine and my goofy brain could remember that show had what I was looking for in just about every episode I had to endure back then. So over to YouTube to search for Thomas episodes. The first two episodes I watched were no help, the third and fourth ones had the thing in it but did not say the name of it. I was in no mood to watch any more of Thomas so back to Google but this time with a phrase I could use. Kind of. I typed in "round things that switch train tracks." Some answers came up that weren't much help in the title and I didn't want to read the articles so I switched the results to images. BINGO!! There it was! Here is a screenshot of the search result. (Don't do like I would do and try to click on the VISIT button in THIS photo because it won't work. 😀)
Tumblr media
I clicked on one of the photos and there was the name of what I have been searching for in my brain for so long!! Railway turntable and wheelhouse!! Why has this been so important for me? Because for years when one of my trains derail, I see an image of a turntable and roundhouse in my brain. I don't see an image of a train actually derailing or wrecking. I was talking to my sister about it earlier and she said when her train derails she envisions a train flying off the side of a mountain. Most "normal" brains probably would imagine an actual train wreck when they think of a train derailing. Not my Lyme infested brain! And then it dawned on me! My brain IS the roundhouse and the turntable because I have more than a few trains!! And then I came across the next photo which my roundhouse, Lyme challenged brain related to on so many levels…
Tumblr media
Just imagine trains colliding on these tracks because someone in the roundhouse control booth didn't hit the correct switch. THAT IS MY BRAIN WITH LYME DISEASE! And when I said at the beginning of this post that I was going to get back to MY Lyme journey for this post…obviously that train derailed too. But no one can imagine the joy I feel right now because I feel I have FINALLY been able to describe what I see when my trains derail. And just imagine that ALL of this was caused from a tick bite so many years ago.
Until next time, Kelly #lymechallenged
