What MaoMao feels for Jinshi...
Tumblr media
(Vol 5 epilogue discussion)
Love, duh. She wouldn't let just anyone choke her to death. Isn't it obvious? She just doesn't realise it yet because of her repressed emotions. I've seen a lot of bad takes and people hating on the Vol 5 epilogue, saying it's one heck of a disaster but honestly, it's not. Here's why:
I think it does a very good job of humanizing Jinshi, the imperial brother. Before this point, we were always given a picture perfect image of Jinshi, in his most angelic form...but after seeing this, it looks like he's very much capable of murder, lol. No seriously!
Previously, Jinshi was always all sunshine and roses and this is the first time we see a pinnacle of his anger and frustration taking a form.
Honestly, anyone would be angry. Jinshi has done so much for MaoMao and almost everyone close to him knows that he has eyes on her and only her from pretty early on in the series and only MaoMao is the one person who seems to be in the dark. Or more precisely pretending to be in the dark.
She is literally running away from her own feelings and that's what made Jinshi so frustrated.
Tumblr media
It was the same thing in the 'Frogging chapter' (yeah, that's what we're calling it). She was "playing the role of an ignorant maid who's in the dark as to what her supiriors are upto". Jinshi was trying to tell MaoMao that he is the imperial brother and he does in fact like her but that never happened because MaoMao kept pretending that it was a frog.
Same here, even if he didn't say it outright, he was dropping so many hints! Who else could have gifted MaoMao a Moon hairpin? Who would have given her beautiful dresses to wear in the banquet?
Jinshi is called the Moon Prince for a reason and that hairpin had a moon and opium poppy. even other people recognised that it was given by him to MaoMao like Rishu's half sister, so a smartass person like Mao should be able to guess that this was all from Jinshi.
The same person who's busy day and night made preparations for her, only to see some unknown random person dancing with her and kissing her hand.
He was jealous and it's only human.
In fact, I'm glad that he's not a complete saint.
He was mad at MaoMao for pretending to be in the dark when he has gone to great lengths to take care of her, and he was hurt that the same person would even suggest him to marry someone else, i.e. consort Rishu.
Tumblr media
He was trying to tell her how he feels, and she wasn't even willing to acknowledge anything that is between them.
Adding to the fact, she knew the thing between Basen and Rishu and yet she chose to turn a blind eye, to the love that could blossom between them and suggested her name to Jinshi. It was wrong on so many levels because MaoMao knew everything and yet chose to give the most political suggestion she could think of.
Maybe because of her repressed emotions, she herself has become heartless while making decisions but just like a double edged sword, it has consequences.
So it was a mixture of anger, hurt and jealousy for Jinshi.
And he wanted MaoMao to feel the same.
The same amount of frustration he has felt as MaoMao keeps running away, just because it would be a little troublesome.
Yeah, he's shitty just like that, and so is she.
(and we love them for it ❤️)
Does it justify what he did? No. But it seems like MaoMao herself doesn't even mind it that much. She looked like well within her comfort zone. Otherwise, we know how capable she is of defending herself. But she was there, pretty much sitting with Jinshi until she dominated him completely and made her escape.
Guess they're both far from the vanilla couple that are usually expected in these kinds of series and I absolutely love it.
She was just mad he didn't poison her instead, like he promised her, to which he replied he would NEVER let her poison herself (because he also loves her a lot too, duh)
This entire scene looks more like a battle for sexual dominance, which MaoMao won.
She always has, since the very first day he saw the real her ❤️

⁑ Someone else flirts with you // Hogwarts legacy characters reactions x reader ⁑
~ Hogwarts Legacy headcanons ~
Warnings: Jealousy, fluff, f!reader, use of Y/N, not proofread, swearing (censored) Pairings: Sebastian x reader, Ominis x reader, Garreth x reader, Amit x reader, Poppy x reader, Natty x reader, Imelda x reader, Leander x reader.
Feel free to request anything!
→ [All characters are aged up to 18 y.o. or more (7th year)] ←
-------------------------------
Context: Following the events that took place during the 5th year, you became more popular without really wanting it. A few people have started to take a closer interest in you. But you still only have eyes for one person since you arrived. However, a boy has started flirting with you and talking to you more and more often. His name is Spencer Rooks. Spencer is the captain of the Hufflepuff quidditch team, also in 7th year. His soft blue eyes, freckles and blond messy hair could make anyone feel flustered around him. But he only has his eyes on you and the person you like took notice of that. Today, Spencer passed you a note to meet him after class. You chose to accept his offer and listen what he had to say to you. Someone seems to not be too pleased by that... (pre-relashionship)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THEIR REACTION:
Sebastian:
Oh he's pissed. You're his! Well...not yet but you are his! He tolerated Spencer's flirting for way too long. He has to intervene.
"Spencer, leave her alone. Can't you see Y/N is not interested?"
All means are good if it makes him leave you alone. But if Spencer insists too much to talk to you, Sebastian will definitely raise his wand at him. He's not scared to be in detention again.
"Let's leave Y/N. He's not worth you time at all." He takes your hand and leads you somewhere else.
"What a prick! Touching you like that and flirting with you. Trust me, he's not good enough for you."
You ask him if he's jealous and you see him frown.
"I am not jealous, I would just prefer if he didn't exist near you! I-I mean...I know you can take care of yourself but- I just don't like others around you that can't respect you."
He'll cross his arms and will stare into your eyes.
"Next time, tell him you're mine. Tell him you're my girlfriend. And if he tries anything, I won't need my wand to hurt him. Besides, I bet he only likes you because you're Hogwarts hero or something like that...NO! I'm not jealous! I just think you deserve better!"
He will make sure that everyone knows you're his, even if you're not yet in a relationship with him.
He WILL be more affectionate and touchy in public.
He's very possessive and will remind you that you both were best friends before you saved Hogwarts and the wizzarding world in general.
"I liked and still like you for you, don't fall for guys like Spencer who only notice you for what you did. He's an opportunist! And you deserve someone who can see how wonderful you are."
Ominis:
Now he is more discreet about his feelings for you and how he handles jealousy. But when Spencer asked you to meet him after class, Ominis couldn't let that happen. He realises he was too slow to be the first to ask you out and he had to do something...quickly.
"Y/N, is that true that you planned to meet Spencer after class? Well...I advice you to reconsider. He does not seem like a very proper gentleman."
You ask him if he's jealous. You see his cheeks redden.
"Jealous? Why should I be jealous Y/N? You obviously are too good for him. And he does not seem like the type of individual you would be into...isn't he?"
He is worried you are into another boy but he tries to keep his composure.
"I heard a few people gossiping about him. Apparently, he has a new girlfriend every month. You deserve to feel special Y/N."
This might be the first time he pays attention to meaningless gossips. But he just has to convince you not to give Spencer a chance.
"Besides, I might need your help after class to prepare myself for our next potion exam. My concoctions are still utter rubbish and you seem to be the only one who actually make me improve my skills."
Any reason is a good reason if it makes you stay away from the Hufflepuff.
He will sit next to you in every class to make everyone understand you are with him, even if you're not his girlfriend yet...
He will frown everytime he hears you talking to another guy. And if Spencer dares to speak to you, he will drag you away and find an excuse to justify it.
"I hope he was not bothering you. I can make the Headmater expel him if he tries anything inappropriate. Just tell me if anything happens."
He didn't mind boys talking to you but when Spencer got a little to close to you for his liking, he became a bit more protective of you. He doesn't want to let that happen again.
Garreth:
He is not usually the jealous type because he knows you're not interested by the other boys/girls who are flirting with you on a daily basis. But Spencer seemed to have your attention for some reason... And when Garreth is jealous, he is not very classy about it.
"What is going on with Spencer and you? I heard you two whispering during class. Since when the both of you are that close?"
You explain to him you planned to meet up with Spencer after class because he had something to tell you. You hear the red-haired boy scoff.
"I bet he'll confess to you...that idiot. Hum...please tell me you don't reciprocate his feelings?"
He'll try to invite you somewhere else so you don't join Spencer after class. He thinks he is being sneaky about it.
"Please I can't find those ingredients without you, it's very urgent matters! Screw Spencer! Besides, you'd rather spend time with me than him...right?"
You're making the poor boy anxious. He is scared you might find Spencer better than him.
"I can also play quidditch you know? And I bet Spencer is not a talented potionist like I am! I'm just saying..."
You ask him if he's maybe...jealous? He left you no time to finish your last word that he quickly retorts.
"Me? Jealous? Please Y/N, you can't be serious. Why would I be jealous? We're...friends... and he is just some guy. I simply don't want you to shift your attention on him and forget about me, alright?"
You try to reassure him with some light-hearted teasing that he was your favorite flirt and that you couldn't possibly forget about him, even if you tried.
"Well...now I know. Could you maybe repeat the part where you said you could never forget me?"
Amit:
He is really not the jealous type because he understands why and how popular you became. But when he is jealous, he does not dare to talk about it to not seem possessive or selfish. But the way Spencer acts around you doesn't sit right with him...
"Y/N? I hope you don't mind if I bring up a rather...private subject. It's about you and Spencer. I noticed you two during class... Are you perhaps- please stop me if you do not feel comfortable sharing- b-but are you two...together?"
You ask him if he's just curious or maybe... jealous? You see him stiffen at your question.
"J-Jealous? I'm really not! I swear! I just think he might not be the right fit for you... You deserve someone who sees you for who you really are; the shiniest star in the sky. Nothing less..."
You reassure him by certifying that you were not in a relationship with Spencer. You then explain he just asked you to meet you up after class to tell you something. You see Amit slightly frown.
"I...I don't think you should meet with him."
He then instantly apologizes. His facial expression is a mix between confusion and fear. He's torn between telling you not to go or let you do what you want...
Out of the blue, he gently grabs your hand.
"What if I said I also... wanted to see you? Who would you choose?"
You can't help but let out a small chuckle. Of course you would choose Amit over him...over anyone actually. But he is so cute when he is jealous. But you finally give in to his request.
"R-really? You'd rather be with me? Then let's go to Honeydukes after class! I could also let you try the new lense of my telescope!"
Seeing him compete for you attention definitely made you feel really hot... He is so adorable.
Poppy:
She is way too obvious when she is jealous. She just can't hide it. This Spencer boy is seriously getting on her nerves...Why can't he just leave you alone? She's the only one who has the right to be glued to Y/N!
"Hum...Y/N...Are you and Spencer a thing? Because he seems really interested and you don't seem to mind it. I-I'm just curious, that's all! You know you can tell me anything."
She looks nervous and you can see it. She is twisting a strand of her hair between her fingers.
You tell her that Spencer actually asked you to meet him after class. Seeing the look on Poppy's face, you might have actually thought she saw a ghost. She was petrified.
"M-Meet him after class? Does he like you? Do you think he'll confess? Oh Merlin... Do you like this guy?"
She bombards you with questions. You're trying your best to reassure her but she doesn't seem to focus on what you're saying. You then take her hands into yours to calm her down.
"I-I'm sorry. But, as your friend... of course... I am just worried this guy is just not any good for you at all. He doesn't seem like the type to treat you right or anything. And you're worth so much better!"
"And who do I deserve then Poppy?" You asked with a playful giggle. You like to see her all flustered. It was so cute.
"W-Well...maybe someone who like you before all the stuff that happened during 5th year...A-Anyway! It's not about that, we are talking about Spencer here!"
She pouts at your light teasing. She is so terribly obvious about how she feels.
You have to reassure her and tell her that you don't feel anything for the Hufflepuff boy. She lets out a big sigh of relief.
"Good...So...does that mean you're free after class? Wanna do something with me?"
Natty:
Now Natty is very mature and can handle her jealousy very well...that's what she thought until Spencer grew a little too close to you. She usually doesn't mind your multiple admirers but this time it felt different. She has to do something...
"Y/N, I was wondering... Spencer seems quite persistent. Maybe you need help to tell him off?"
You explain to Natty he actually became a good friend and that he wanted to talk to you after class. She keeps a neutral face, not wanting her emotions to get the best of her.
"That is good to hear. I wonder what he has to say to you."
Natty knew exactly what Spencer wanted to talk to you about. But she felt selfish... She was biting her tongue to not say anything more.
"I hope he is not in love with you Y/N. I heard he was quite a flirtatious guys and that he treated his ex-girlfriends very poorly... Yes those are gossips but sometimes they are right! Well...maybe he is just pretending to be nice to you for now, you know how boys are."
She would let you meet Spencer after school but she would overthink about what your response to his confession would be.
"So? What did he say? Tell me everything!" She was trying to keep a smile on her face but she was really really anxious.
As you explained to her, you see her gently relaxing her shoulders. You don't share the same feelings as Spencer, to her delight.
"That's good. He was not right for you anyway." You then dare to ask her why she was so happy you didn't reciprocated his feelings. She was taken aback.
"P-please don't think I was jealous. I just know you well enough to assume he was not your type at all. You deserve someone who will treat you like a princess."
She has never been more relieved you rejected someone. She will keep a close eye on you the next time someone talks to you. She can't let that happen again.
Imelda:
When she is jealous, she usually just bullies you. She hates to see you with other people no matter who they are. So, you can be certain that she cannot stand Spencer being all flirty and chatty with you.
"He just can't leave you alone, can he? Always trying to get your attention. It's so pathetic. Don't give him the time of the day, he's a twat."
You tell her that Spencer asked you to meet him after class. You see her almost explode of rage in front of your very eyes.
"What the f*ck? Who does he think he is? I mean, please let him embarrass himself, I know he doesn't stand a chance...right? Don't tell me you like him? Oh good...not that I care or anything, you do you."
You ask her if she's jealous. She lets out the meanest laugh you've ever heard. Ouch...
"Me? Jealous of him? I can prove it to you that I am, in fact, better than him. I'm also a MUCH better quidditch player. Just saying... Don't look at me like that! I'm not jealous! Just stop hanging out with him, that's all!"
She might sound agressive but she really just needs to be reassured.
"And you promised me to be there at every one of my quidditch practices. And if he doesn't like it, I'm not afraid to punch him in the throat and break his precious broom."
You notice how agitated she is by the fact that Spencer might like you. You say nothing to preserve peace but...how cute it was that she wanted to fight someone for you.
"Forget about him. You deserve a much better contenders for your love. You also deserves someone that is as good as me on a broom. Spencer is way too slow. Why are you smiling at me like that? What did I say?"
She'll make sure you only look at her during practice and during other classes. She'll make sure to remind you that she is the best person to hang out with you.
Leander:
Now he will go about it the hard way to keep people who are interested in you away. He usually straight up lies and tells everyone you are actually his girlfriend so nobody will flirt with you. But Spencer just directly asked you...not fair. He has to do something about it... and now.
"What? He asked you to meet him after class? Well...just don't go? Or tell him you have a boyfriend? Oh come on, it's just a little white lie."
He tries to convince you not to go. But you still want to hear what Spencer has to say.
"Okay but only if I go with you. I can't leave you alone with that creep. Do we have a deal?"
When you wait for Spencer after class, Leander was waiting with you. Leander just couldn't hold back the urge to mark his territory and show that you were his...not officially but in his mind your were his.
"So, please tell us what you wanted to say. Don't be shy."
Leander is touching VERY inappropriately while Spencer tries to speak. He runs his hands down your back, around your shoulders and…on your hips.
You want to stop it but you can't. You...like it. It makes you feel all nervous and you feel your cheeks redden.
At the end, the poor Spencer just gave up and excused himself from the conversation.
"I think he got the message. You're not interested by him and you'll never be. I was helpful, see? "
You scold him gently, telling him how innapropriate that was. He just smirks and chuckles at you. He's so childish...
"Oh don't pretend you didn't like it Y/N. Maybe I should do it more often, that seems to keep the others away."
You stroked his ego unintentionally.
But...what if...nobody stopped you from going?
Spencer:
He waits for you after class. He looks so nonchalent, you almost refuse to think he might confess to you.
"You came! What a relief. I just wanted to tell you that...I know that we've not been friends for long but...hum...I like you. I almost lost my last quidditch match because you were the only thing on my mind."
You were just speechless. Your face was burning up and your cheeks were red. He took notice of that.
"Sorry, I just blurted it out but I'm really serious. I like you Y/N. And if you just let me one chance to prove that I'm worthy of your affection, you won't regret it! Does it sound too corny? I just really like you sorry, I'm letting my heart speak for me right now."
The Hufflepuff's face was also red. He looks so sincere. His blue eyes staring right into yours.
"Do you need time to think about it? I can give you some space. I just... I would give you the world if you ask me to. You're just...so wonderful. But I'll give you the time you want to think about it! Or maybe we could go on a date? Just to make sure I'm your type."
He lets out tiny nervous chuckles as he speaks. He is a blushing mess and he is trying his hardest to speak clearly and not be overwhelmed by his emtions.
Will you give him a chance?

i've got two questions that kind of came from each other
how/why does everyone eat? isn't the poppy serum all they would need? or do they still have stomachs or something?
what is the critters fav foods if they could have anything appear in the factory?
there had been a lot of question about the food in the factory, so let answer this part by part
1-what do they eat?
Mostly, Lillith's babies, aka the PJ's that are all around the factory. BUT those are more like a placebo, 'cause their ''meat'' is just like a Jelly poppy serum, have a meaty texture, but isn't meat.
2-Is the Poppy Serum enough?
Is and isn't. You see, the Poppy serum can keep them alive, but they still feel hunger, but is a specific hunger, so there's come the next question
3-Why there's still food (the lemonade or ingredients like sugar and flour) in the factory?
'Cause the experiments doesn't crave that kind of food, yeah, they can eat it to distract their stomach and get energy, but their body crave is for meat, so even when they try to use placebos like food make with poppy serum/ Pj meat, they still fell the need to eat real meat. Is like when you see kids eating dirt and realised that said child have a mineral deficit that make them look for said mineral by eating what they shouldn't (i saw it a lot with some of my cousins), they have a specific need that can only be satisficed with meat.
4-What would be their favorite food?
Even with the meat need, they still enjoy the flavour of food, and have they fav ones.
-Nell loves anything that have chocolate in it (ironic for a dog), but hate peanut butter.
-Callem love soup, any kind of soup. It remember him of when his mother would take care of him when sick. And he hate oatmeal, is disgusting.
-Charlie hate anything sweet, he can't stand it. On the other hand, if he could he would eat pickles like they're chips while reading.
-Alba like cookies, but is the only type of sweet she like. On the other hand, she hate coffee, but can stand the favour for the next reason.
-Nicole loves coffee, is the only thing that can help her when she's stressed, and she had been drinking it even before the hour of joy (by taking the employees cups without them noticing it), so theres a big bag of coffee in the kitchen that she found in the council and has been her treasure since then. Everybody knows that the moment the bag is empty they need to found a alternative, 'cause a stressed Nico isn't something they would like to deal.
-Samina isn't a picky eater, she have a lot of fav food and even if she doesn't like a specific ingredient, she can make it work to make it less disgusting. The only thing she write the line is with seafood, the smell and texture has always make her puke.
-Amara eat anything sweet, BUT she learn she hate alcoholic things when she tried the fermented lemonade, she almost puke her whole stomach that day.

some Head Cannons about Bro zone inspired by the fact literally everyone else has been doing these posts lol.
I think Floyd and Clay would end up trying to live with Branch in the Bunker but would find it too hard for multiple reasons one being Branch actually has loud night terrors often. that no one knows about but its actually one of the reasons why he still chooses to live so far away from everyone else in the village and Floyd and Clay are kept awake at nights just hearing him loudly screaming and shouting.
and one on occasion when they did try to wake him it resulted in Branch springing up and attacking them throwing one of them to the ground and pulling a weapon out of his Hair and nearly hitting them with it until Branch finally snapped out of it and realised where he was.
kinda helping Floyd and Clay realise for the first time how deeply affected Branch is by his past to the point he's still on such High alert even in his own home.
2. whenever Bro zone have any sort of arguments even if their not 100 percent serous and just mostly petty sibling Banter Branch still gets visibly afraid.
and nervous maybe even trying to defuse the situation but his voice and body language making it clear he's genuinely nervous which actually stops the other bros in their tracks.
and they try to reassure him the family isn't breaking up and its just normal sibling banter but regardless Branch isn't able to tell the difference between serous family shattering arguments and just normal day to day sibling banter.
so the bros try and make it more clear in the future that their just mostly joking around as opposed to seriously fighting amongst each other.
3. John Dory used to be a pretty social party animal but after spending over 20 years traveling with just Rhonda for company he's actually a pretty anti social person now.
tho he doesn't like to admit it and he tries to put on the persona of the social party animal in front of his Brothers he actually finds big crowds and meeting new people to be super stressful.
4. Bruce gained most of his extra weight in the immediate aftermath of his and JDs big fight as he stress ate for quite a while afterwards tho in present day he tries to hide this fact to avoid making JD feel bad since he can tell he's genuinely changed since then.
5. Floyd would be the one to try and encourage his Brothers to actually talk about their more negative feelings towards each other meanwhile the others just want to leave it as they are seem to be doing fine in present day.
and they don't want to bring up the uncomfortable stuff from the past again but Floyd would think its healthy that they do so.
6. if/when Branch and Poppy do get engaged each of the Bros will be excitedly waiting in anticipation to see which of them Branch picks to be his best man and Teasing each other over it.
only for Branch to shatter their Dreams when he announces that he's chosen Gary to be his best man ( this HC assumes that Gary gets added to the movie cannon at some point ).
and his bros are all weirded out and confused and some of them even think its just a Joke at first but when it becomes clear he isn't Joking.
some of them even sorta angrily confront Branch on how he could choose a friggin Remote Control over any of them only for Branch to cut the none serous casual attitude he'd had up to this point and tell them.
that yes he knows Gary is an inanimate object but he's been a more consistent comfort in his life than any of them ever have and well its his wedding so if they can't accept that then he doesn't want them there.
7. Branch would be a little bit resentful about the fact that Bruce went off and started a new family forgetting all about him while he waited for all of them to come back over the years.
he wouldn't outright tell him this due to fear of stirring the pot amongst the family when they've only just gotten things back on track.
but it'd end up coming out one way or another and Bruce would show a bit of growth and actually be understanding of why Branch would feel this way Rather than judging him for it.
meanwhile JD would would say he also felt pretty hurt by this only for Bruce to casually brush it off since he really doesn't give a crap if it hurt John's ego 😂😂😂😂

The soulmate au sounds really interesting! I'd love to see that!
Welcome Home x Reader - Colourful Soul
Based on this post.
AU summary: Everyone is born completely colour blind - they can only see in shades of grey. That is until they meet their soulmate, who is in colour. Then the world becomes colourful for them!
These are just quick headcanons that focus on the character's initial reactions because I want to just get this out as soon as possible so I don't need anyone waiting! Also, I'm not including Home in this because I'm not sure how to do it.
I'll make a Wally-centric one later.
Words: 480
Type: Headcanons, romantic
Tw: none! Just fluff
Tumblr media
You, just like everyone else, was born with a strange condition. Science was yet to have an explanation for it; many people came to the conclusion that it was magic. And in a way it was. For you were born completely colour blind. And it was going to take a soulmate to fix that.
Wally has the most subdued reaction. He's mostly in a state of shock? He's pretty naive and although he's always heard about the soulmate stuff he doesn't quite understand it. Pretty must just treats you like a friend until you educate him on it.
Julie is the exact opposite. She's so excited and happy! I imagine Julie is still a little naive about this stuff but loves the idea of love and wants in on it right away. But like Wally, she still just treats you like a best friend with extra gifts.
Sally gets it. She may work hard play harder, but she's not an idiot. She knows what it means when she suddenly sees colour everywhere. Immediately, she calls this to be a time to celebrate, and drags you everywhere to show you everything there is. She wants to get married as soon as possible. Because that's what soulmates do, right?
Frank is really, really flustered. He honestly never thought this would happen to him and isn't quite sure what to make of it. Him? Meeting his soulmate? No way! The whole time he's very awkward but still tries to contain his composure. Calms down and treats you like royalty as he shows you around his 'humble abode'.
Eddie is all gushy and whatnot. He's also shocked at all the new colour, as are you. Did the world really look like this the whole time? He invited you to his house/business and you guys hang out there awkwardly for the rest of the day. It's weird, but cute.
Howdy goes very quiet and very blue (him blushing) very quickly. He's... Shocked? Confused? Something. Doesn't really know what it is - whether it's the seeing colour or the soulmate standing in front of him or both. It's all really confusing and very emotional! He cries without realising it.
Barnaby goes mad in the best way possible. He's bouncing off the walls with energy and it's crazy. Wraps you up in a tight (suffocating) hug and tells you how happy he is - through puns, of course. He needs to run around for the rest of the day to get the energy out, and then some!
Poppy freaks out because she thinks she's about to faint. It's all very concerning for her because she's worried that you aren't her soulmate and that something's wrong with her. But you calm her down, and after that she's really happy! You guys spend the rest of the day getting to know each other and just having a good time.

Ok I’m running out of new ideas 😒 so can I request a jealous Sebastian please? Maybe F!MC has introduced some of her other friends to the RoR (Garreth, Imelda, Natty, Poppy), but it made Seb feel special knowing that he was the only one and now he’s a bit sulky about it and MC can see it and she actually loves how jealous he is, but then one day, they finally get together (smut ensues) in one of her vivariums and she makes a comment like “this is just for you 😉”
Please and thank you 💜🐍
Thank you for the Ask 💜
We all love a bit of Jealous Seb 💚
....
Students were all making the most of the sunny day and were outside enjoying the warmth of the afternoon. MC was sat with some of her friends, discussing some ideas of what to do at the weekend. A few suggestions had been passed around, although Sebastian was secretly hoping to be able to spend some of his time alone with MC. He was finding that more difficult now that she had formed close bonds with some of the others.
"A little party might be fun," Natty suggested. "Maybe we could all sneak into one dorm."
Garreth grinned. "I'm up for that."
"I'm not stepping foot in anyone's common room but my own," Imelda said. "If we do it, then it will have to be in Slytherin's."
"I'll get you all in, I'm good at sneaking in to places,' Sebastian smirked.
MC leaned her shoulder against him and they shared a look, secrets shared in their eyes. Sebastian's stomach did a little flip. He loved sharing stuff with MC that nobody else needed to know.
"That does all sound fun, however, why do we need to sneak around when MC has the perfect place for such a thing," Poppy said. She turned a bright smile towards MC and lowered her voice. "We could have a little gathering in the Room of Requirement. Deek wouldn't mind, would he?"
"That's a brilliant idea, Poppy!" Garreth said. He sat up straighter. "We could have snacks, maybe even make it a sleep over. I might even be able to sneak some Fire Whiskey if anyone is up for that."
MC looked at all her friends, they had all turned to look excitedly at her, and she laughed. "Sure, that sounds great!"
But then her eyes swung to Sebastian beside her, and her smile slipped. He looked stunned and a bit pissed off. While the others were all chatting happily, making plans for the party, MC gave Sebastian an enquiring look. She leant closer to him to ask, quietly, "Everything alright?"
He looked at her, she could have sworn he looked...hurt.
"I'm fine," he shrugged. "A party sounds great, although I didn't realise that your secret hideaway was now available to anyone and everyone."
"Not just anyone," she said, shaking her head. "Just my closest friends."
"I see," he said, his mouth grim. He looked away from her, across the grounds towards the castle. Then he stood and brushed some grass from his robe. "I need to run an errand, I will catch up with you later."
MC watched him stride off across the grass, her heart sinking a little.
She felt a hand on her arm. Poppy gave her a little smile. "I get the feeling someone doesn't like to share when it comes to you, MC."
MC felt her heart flutter, but she kept her face as calm as possible. "Why would you think that?"
"Isn't it obvious?" She gave MC's arm a squeeze. "Sebastian is crazy about you, anyone can see that."
MC blushed and began to fiddle with the hem of her robe. Could Poppy be right? MC gazed across the grounds in the direction Sebastian had disappeared. She hoped so, because she was crazy about him too.
...
MC had asked Sebastian to meet her outside the Room of Requirement. He had arrived looking a bit sulky, but had cheered when she had slipped her hand into his. "Come on," she said with a smile.
"What's going on?" He asked.
"I've got a surprise for you."
His eyes lit up and she led him in, across the main room and towards his favourite vivarium. Gulls called as they walked across the sand, their feet sinking into the softness. The crash of waves greeted them as MC led Sebastian towards a picnic spot.
"This is new," he said. His gaze took in the fire pit and a tartan blanket spread out on the ground, beside it was a wicker picnic hamper. He gave her a quizzical look. "What's all this?"
"You seemed upset that I had told our friends about the Room of Requirement," she said. "I didn't realise it meant so much to you."
He blushed and rubbed his nose. "The room itself doesn't mean that much to me," he said. "And anyway, it's your room. It's not up to me."
"But, if it was up to you? Would you have kept it for just us two?"
His eyes met hers, a little wary. "It did feel rather special to have a secret like that with you, a place all our own."
"Well, that's why I thought I would do this," she said. She indicated the picnic blanket. "I know this vivarium is your favourite and for the rest of the day, we have it all to ourselves. The others can't come into the Room without me, so...I'm all yours."
He stared, and then his hand gently squeezed hers, his lips lifting into a smile that just might steal all of her breath.
They ate the lunch she had packed, swapping stories of their childhood, Sebastian telling her of family days at the beach near Feldcroft when he was small. It felt good to sit under the sun and laugh with him like this.
Then, he was tugging off his shoes and socks, rolling up his trousers and coaxing her into the sea for a paddle. She blushed as she tucked the hem of her skirt into her waistband, his eyes on her bare legs. But, soon they were running in the shallow surf, splashing and giggling.
Sebastian caught hold of her, lifting her clean off her feet and swinging her around. She squealed, clutching at his shoulders, now only covered by the cotton of his shirt. He paused, holding her against him, MC could feel the thud of his heart. Their faces were so close.
"I can't remember the last time my heart felt this full and light at the same time, if ever," he said.
MC put her hands on his face, feeling flushed and giddy being held so tight in his arms. "Me too."
Sebastian set her down on her feet, but he didn't let her go. Their eyes never left each other's, and then he pressed soft lips against hers, hesitant, enquiring. MC responded, kissing him back eagerly, and then her hands were in his hair, his own caressing her back.
When their mouths parted, they were both breathing a little faster. The waves rolled about their ankles, the sun a soft glow beginning to head for the horizon.
"Even though our friends know about this place, please know, that time spent here with you is more precious than anything else. I don't want to lose that either, and I love that you feel that way too," MC said, softly.
"Well, in that case,' he said, smirking. He bent and swept her off her feet, bridal style. She giggled and held on to him. "I'm going to make the most of every minute here alone with you, starting by testing out the comfort of that blanket more thoroughly."
He placed MC down, laying her back against the blanket and claiming the space beside her. Her heart thumped wildly as he kissed her, stealing her breath and making her blood sing. When his lips moved along her jaw and down under her ear, she sighed, tilting her head to allow him better access.
His hand smoothed her waist, and then her breath caught as he slid his palm down the length of her bare thigh. Her skirt was still tucked up to her waist and he looked down, watching as his hand smoothed back up her now blazing skin. He bit his lower lip, hesitating before sliding his hand under the skirt to cup her hip. "You are so soft," he whispered.
MC swallowed, her heart in her mouth at the feel of his hand there, against her skin. She trailed finger tips from his jaw, down his throat and caressed the skin over his collar bone where his shirt was open. He met her eyes. Flame met flame, anticipation made her quiver. "You can touch me," she whispered. "Any time you want. I'm yours, if you'll have me. I think I always have been."
He pressed his mouth to hers with open, hot kisses and he breathed into her mouth. "And I am yours."
Goosebumps spread over MC's skin as the sea breeze floated over her bare limbs, but Sebastian's hands and mouth were keeping her warm. Naked, and pressed against him, an inner fire flooded through her, she was hungry for the taste of him.
She moaned softly at the feel of his mouth on her breasts, his tongue tasting the salt on her skin. She relished the feel of her palms exploring the flesh of his back, his chest, and all the time, the hardness of his arousal against her leg sent shivers of expectation to her core.
Despite the burning need in his eyes, he was gentle, slow, as he slid fingers into her soft heat. She could hear the wet slick of her arousal, her cheeks flushing as he teased and delighted. Her fingers reached to seek out his silken hardness, desperate to return the pleasure he gave.
When he finally slid into her, her back arched against the full, thick burn of him, her fingers biting into his skin. His name fell from her lips, and he soothed her with kisses, and whispers of his love as he began to move, rolling his hips.
Deep inside her, a flame was growing from a flicker to an inferno. Her breaths were gasping as she felt herself climbing higher, and higher. He angled himself and she felt the tip of him slide against that ache, stroking it with each thrust and her hips lifted to meet him. "Sebastian," she gasped, surprised at the intense pressure. "Oh..."
"It's alright," he said. He kissed her forehead, her nose. "Go with it...mmph...feel it, for me."
He thrust harder, faster, and her toes curled, her head fell back and she closed her eyes. Fuck, he felt so good. And then, the wave of her pleasure hit, and she felt the clench, the rolling burn of release, a cry escaping her throat.
He pushed through her orgasm, rocking his hips before plunging deep, hard, again, again, and then he groaned. She felt the pulsing throb of his release and clenched around him, drawing another low moan from his lips.
As the sun disappeared below the sea, they lay wrapped in each other's warmth, his cloak draped over them. Their mouths and hands touching, soothing, memorising skin.
"I never want to go back," he said. "Can we stay here, forever?"
She giggled and pressed fingers to his lips. "We will have to go back sometime, we will be missed."
"If you thought I was jealous before, then you are so not ready for the foreseeable," he grinned. "I'm not prepared to share you at all now, not after this."
She smiled and linked their fingers, clasping him tightly. "You and me against the rest of the world," she laughed.
He looked at her, his face serious now, but his eyes were warm, soft just for her. "Absolutely."

Yule Ball
Tumblr media
images of Garreth above from @dvinaamesca here and here
Summary: Sometimes our favourite gregarious Gryffindor can be a bit thick. Professor Black reinstates the Yule Ball in your seventh year, and you realise last-minute that your boyfriend isn't planning on taking you. Leander tries to help his best mate patch things up with you. Sometimes simple misunderstandings lead to hurt feelings, but talking it out (and makeup sex) is always worth it.
Garreth Weasley x Gryffindor F!MC
A/N: Did I write an almost 9k fic because I loved a screenshot so much? Yes. Yes, I did. At any rate, this blog was far overdue for some Garreth love.
Warnings: 18+, explicit sexual content, aged-up characters, Garreth being oblivious, failure to communicate, caught indisposed, talks of hypothetically pregnant MC
Word count: 8621
Seventh year was going surprisingly well for you. The stress of exams was nothing compared to quashing a goblin rebellion, and poaching was at an all-time low in the Highlands. If you were honest, it was a bit dull. You had tried, back at the end of sixth year, to get Black to reinstate the Triwizard Tournament. You argued that it was the perfect time, exactly a century after the last one had been held. He had refused outright, arguing that it was “too dangerous.” You suspected his concern was less directed at whatever students would be competing and more due to the fact that the heads of the participating schools had been injured during the last one in 1792. Bloody coward.
You had started a whole campaign, hoping to pressure him into it, but he wouldn’t relent. Poppy managed to convince him to at least host a Yule Ball the following Christmas. The vain headmaster leapt at the chance to bring out his dress robes. It was settled.
At least you had quidditch to keep you from being bored to death. Games and practices playing chaser alongside your boyfriend were the highlight of each week. You had worried it might cause friction between the two of you when you and Garreth joined the team last year. Quite the contrary, you both worked together flawlessly. You practised so much that you had an almost telepathic connection on the pitch. You had been so close to winning the Quidditch Cup last year, and you had high hopes for this season.
Still, quidditch only provided so much of a distraction given the level of adventure to which you were accustomed, and you had looked forward to the Yule Ball all of autumn term. Poppy – and, to your surprise, Imelda – led the planning effort. You were confident it was going to be spectacular. You had already gone shopping with Natty, and Mr. Hill insisted on making custom gowns for both of you. He had always been appreciative of you two saving his shop from the troll back in fifth year.
As you were studying in the library for end-of-term exams, Poppy updated you on the planning. The ball was to be an all-night, Regency-style affair complete with dancing, a late supper, and more dancing. You couldn’t wait for Christmas to arrive.
Over lunch, Garreth expressed a similar sentiment. “I cannot wait for exams to be over. I swear my aunt is lurking around every corner to make sure I’m revising properly,” he groused. “It’s like she has no faith in me.”
“She just wants you to do well,” you assured him, rubbing a soothing hand between his shoulder blades.
“At least we have the holidays to look forward to,” he said. “Your parents are letting you stay here in the castle, right?”
“Yes!” you replied eagerly. “It’s going to be splendid, isn’t it? Have you gotten dress robes?”
Garreth’s brow furrowed in confusion. “What for?”
You gaped at him. “For the Yule Ball.”
He looked caught off guard. “I wasn’t planning on attending,” he admitted.
“What? You–You’re not going?” you asked, taken aback. “Are you serious?”
Your conversation caught Leander’s attention, and he looked nervously between you two. His eyes widened with intent as he stared at Garreth.
“I’m not much of a dancer,” Garreth explained. “What’s the point?”
Leander hid his face in his hand, clearly embarrassed at his best mate’s lack of tact.
The bench scraped harshly on the stone floor as you got to your feet. “What’s the point?” you repeated, furious.
Garreth shrugged. “I mean, it’s not like I’m telling you that you can’t go,” he said.
“Garreth Weasley, you inconsiderate – you oblivious – you – Ugh!” you spluttered. You grabbed your bag off the ground before storming off, leaving Garreth sat stunned on the bench.
“What is her problem?” he asked Leander.
“Mate…” the tall redhead said in a pitying tone. He just shook his head at the boy.
You spent the rest of exams avoiding Garreth. Fortunately, there were no quidditch practices to force you to interact with him. You studied in the Undercroft instead of the library. When you weren’t studying, you holed up in your dorm room where he couldn’t reach you. He tried to get Natty or Cressida to convince you to talk to him, but you were still too mad. You had spent months looking forward to the Yule Ball. You’d gushed to him about your excitement for the event dozens of times. It had never crossed your mind that your boyfriend wouldn’t escort you.
He managed to corner you once, on your way out of the potions exam. You suspected he had finished well before you and lingered for the express purpose of trying to talk to you. He chased you out, pulling you into an alcove in the corridor. “MC, I’m sorry,” he said, looking devestated. “I didn’t mean to upset you.”
You scowled, but you were listening.
“I just…I didn’t realise you cared so much about a silly little ball,” he continued, inserting his foot directly into his mouth.
You scoffed, shoving past him and starting down the corridor.
“Wait, that came out wrong,” Garreth said, rushing after you.
“Did it, now?” you replied, unconvinced.
You stopped abruptly, spinning back to face him as you crossed your arms over your chest. Garreth almost walked straight into you, but he caught himself just in time.
You arched an accusing brow at him. “Was this supposed apology going to involve you asking me to said ‘silly little ball’?”
“I…Well…” he stammered, his nervous eyes looking anywhere but at you.
You huffed as you whipped back around. Garreth called after you as you stormed away, but you didn’t stop that time.
Your anger continued to simmer through the end of exams on the 23rd. Normally, the Hogwarts Express would’ve been packed that evening as students headed home for the Christmas holidays. However, it was nearly empty that night. It seemed everyone else was as excited for the ball as you were – everyone except your boyfriend, that is.
You spent hours practising spells in the Undercroft that evening. Ominis found you down there. The smell of smouldering crates filled his nose immediately.
“Still upset with Garreth, I take it?” Ominis asked as he strode into the room.
“Yep,” you replied curtly.
“Are you going to stop talking to him forever over a dance?” he asked seriously, folding his arms as he leaned back against a blank stretch of stone wall.
You rolled your eyes. “It’s not the dance. It’s that he knew how excited I was for it and still had no plans to attend it with me. It’s like he doesn’t care about what’s important to me.”
Ominis cocked his head to the side as he considered your words. “Have you explained that to him?”
Your jaw tensed. “I shouldn’t have to.”
Ominis pursed his lips, shaking his head slightly. “That’s a healthy way to handle it,” he said sarcastically.
“I don’t want to hear it, Mr. My Relationship is Soooo Perfect,” you groused. “You and Poppy both love dancing. It’s not fair.”
You crossed your arms in a huff.
Ominis smirked at the mention of his girlfriend. “Well, we are fortunate in that,” he said. “I’ll save a dance for you, tough, shall I?”
“That’d be lovely. It’ll be the only one I get,” you replied – admittedly, being a bit melodramatic.
Ominis snorted. “Right. Because people can only dance at a ball if they already have a partner.”
“Will you just let me sulk?” you snapped.
Ominis rolled his eyes. “You’ve been sulking all week, MC,” he pointed out. “I won’t let you ruin the ball for yourself.”
You sighed. He had a point. Just because Garreth was being an arse didn’t mean you shouldn’t try to enjoy the event you’d been looking forward to since the end of spring term.
The door to the seventh-year boys’ dormitory shut with a soft click. Leander stared at his best mate, lying face-down in bed on top of his sheets.
“I take it the grovelling didn’t go well?” he asked as he crossed the room to sit on the edge of his own bed.
Garreth mumbled incoherently into his pillow.
“Come again?” Leander said.
Garreth turned his head to the side, still lying boneless otherwise. “There was no grovelling,” he said. “She still won’t speak to me. Or listen. Or do anything but bolt the other direction when I spot her in the halls.”
Leander hummed sympathetically. “Did you try having Natty pass along your apology?”
“She refused,” Garreth said dismally. “Said I should apologise to her myself, even though that’s literally impossible seeing as MC won’t be in the same wing of the castle as me for more than five seconds. I don’t know what to do, Lee.”
Leander clicked his tongue. “That is a tough spot,” he said. “I suppose you do know one place you can definitely find her.”
“She hasn’t used the Room of Requirement all week. I checked with Deek,” Garreth argued.
“I was talking about the Yule Ball,” Leander said, rolling his eyes at his hopelessly thick friend.
Garreth pushed himself up on his arms so he could turn to look at Leander. “And how is embarrassing myself at a ball going to help anything?” he demanded.
Leander let out an exasperated sigh. “It’s really not that complicated, mate. She’s mad at you because you wouldn’t take her to the ball. So, go there and dance with her. After the grovelling. That bit’s still essential, trust me.”
“But I can’t dance,” Garreth argued.
Leander shrugged. “I’ll teach you.”
Garreth chewed his lip as he considered the option. “Okay…But what if she bolts the second she sees me? Or, worse, takes someone else to the dance?”
Leander pursed his lips. He had to admit that they were both quite plausible outcomes. “I’ll handle it.”
“How?” Garreth inquired.
“Don’t worry about it,” he said. “You just focus on using the next 48 hours to make sure you won’t crush her toes when you finally dance with her.”
Garreth, still looking anxious, just nodded.
“Brilliant! Now, on your feet. I’m going to teach you to waltz,” Leander said.
Saturday morning, Leander caught you leaving your dorm for breakfast. “MC! Just the girl I wanted to see!” he said brightly as you descended the stairs into the Gryffindor common room.
You rolled your eyes. “Whatever Garreth wants to tell me, I don’t want to hear it,” you groused, brushing past him.
“Actually,” Leander said as he caught your hand to make you stop, “I wanted to ask a favour.”
Your brow furrowed. You crossed your arms sceptically, but you made no move to dart away. “A favour?” you asked, narrowing your eyes at him.
Leander gulped down his nerves as he nodded his head. “Well, I was…I was wondering if you’d go to the Yule Ball with me.”
You blinked rapidly as you processed his words. “Oh,” you said in surprise. “I would’ve thought you’d be going with Sebastian. You two have been dancing around each other for ages, after all.”
Leander sucked his teeth. “Yes, well, Violet beat me to asking him, evidently,” he explained with a rather sour expression. “So, I thought we might go together, since Garreth’s being a numpty. As friends, of course, but…also to make our boys a bit jealous, maybe.”
“You want to help me make Garreth jealous?” you asked in disbelief.
“Well, Garreth and Sebastian,” he replied. “Besides, I think he deserves it. He was a bit of a knob about the ball.”
You tilted your head, eyeing him for a long moment that had him starting to squirm. “Yeah, all right,” you agreed.
Leander beamed at you. “Brilliant! I’ll pick you up at 8 tomorrow night,” he said.
“See you then,” you replied.
Your Christmas morning was spent in the Gryffindor common room after Natty assured you that Garreth wasn’t down there. Almost the entire rest of your house was, though. There was a weight in your chest at not getting to celebrate with the man you loved – even if he was being a git. You also felt sorry for him that he was missing out on the festivities.
You didn’t see him the rest of the day, either. That night, you and Natty spent hours getting ready in your room. The mirror had nothing but compliments for the pair of you, and you were feeling quite good about yourself despite the recent tiff with Garreth. As such, you lingered in the common room early, hoping he’d catch a glimpse of you all dolled up. There might’ve been a part of you that wanted him to regret not spending that night with you.
He wasn’t there, though, and you began to wonder if he’d gone home for the rest of the holiday.
Your worrying was cut short when Leander emerged into the room. He smiled when he saw you. “You look beautiful, MC,” he said sweetly.
“Thank you. You look quite dashing yourself,” you replied.
He straightened the lapel of his dress robes proudly. They were black with deep green paisley accents.
“We’re quite a festive pair,” you said, looking down at your ruby red gown.
He laughed. “Yes, well, I had been planning on taking a Slytherin,” he said lightly.
“True,” you replied.
Leander held his arm out to you. “Shall we?”
You nodded and took hold of it, winding your own arm delicately around his.
The Great Hall had been totally transformed. It was almost unrecognisable. Instead of the usual floating candles, bright orbs of light hung in the air like shining stars. The edges of the room were lined with pine trees, full of twinkling lights and glittering ornaments. Each tree was decorated for one of the four houses. The dais was almost entirely taken over by a massive tree decorated in glass ornaments of all four houses’ mascots, crests, and other staples – like a glass rendition of the portrait of the fat lady and the mermaids from the fountain in the Slytherin common room.
The ceiling was enchanted to have snow falling softly, though it vanished before reaching any of you. It was truly magnificent. Your only regret was that Garreth wasn’t there to experience it with you. Before you could properly mope on the subject, Leander whisked you onto the dance floor. It was almost impossible to stay wistful when you were sweeping around the Great Hall in a two step to lively music. Leander led gracefully, his hold on you firm and his movements fluid and sure. You glided through the other couples, almost constantly spinning. It was a wonder you weren’t dizzy.
“You seem to have something on your mind,” Leander observed.
“I can’t help but wish Garreth were here,” you admitted.
“I see,” he replied.
“Sorry,” you said sincerely. “I don’t mean to insult you. You’re a wonderful dance partner.”
“Just not the one you planned on having,” he said knowingly.
You gave him an apologetic smile.
“I can hardly fault you for that,” he said.
As the song faded to its end, he released your back to spin you around once more, turning you rather quickly before suddenly releasing your hand, as well. You stumbled to get your footing until two strong hands steadied you at your hips, holding you still.
Your head spun a bit from the sudden stop, lashes fluttering as you looked up to find your boyfriend was the one who had caught you.
“Garreth,” you breathed, momentarily forgetting to be angry. You were too surprised. Too relieved. Too caught up in the sight of him with his softly styled curls and perfectly tailored dress robes. He wore a crisp black shirt under a white satin waistcoat and matching bowtie. A deep red robe topped the look. His satin lapels were embroidered with vines matching the ones on his waistcoat. The colour of the robe was exactly the same shade as your dress.
Your arms hung uselessly at your sides as you gaped at him. He gave you a meek smile as he gazed longingly into your eyes.
“You look stunning, darling,” he said. “I’m not as light-footed as Lee, but I’d be honoured to dance with you.”
You realised that, while time had seemed to stop, it had in fact pressed on, and the band was now playing a waltz. Garreth lifted one hand off your hips and held it out to you. You just looked down at it, still processing how you had gotten in this situation. You glanced around in search of Leander, but he had vanished.
“What are you doing here?” you asked dimly.
Garreth’s smile grew nervous. “Making up with my girlfriend, I hope.”
He shifted anxiously as his hand still hung empty in the air between you. You stepped back, his other hand slipping off your hip.
“You said you didn’t want to dance with me,” you said accusingly, finally remembering that you were cross with him.
“I know. I’m sorry, but you’re so good at it. And I…I have two left feet. I thought it’d be worse to have you realise how dreadful I am than for you to just go by yourself,” he said, his hands retreating into his pockets. “I…didn’t want to embarrass you.”
He chewed his lip, as he often did when anxious. Your own lips parted as you stared at him in shock.
Evidently, you took too long to reply, because he started speaking again. “I know Leander and I can be a bit ridiculous sometimes. And I’ve had more than a few mishaps with potions in class – and it’s the thing I’m best at. I just…didn’t want to give you another reason to be ashamed of me.”
His gaze dropped to his feet as his hands fidgeted in his pockets.
“I’d never be ashamed of you,” you assured him, a bit offended that he’d think you would be.
“Really?” he asked, seeming genuinely surprised by the idea as he looked up at you in shock.
“Garreth, I love you. Every bit of you,” you stated. “Why on earth would I be ashamed of you?”
His cheeks flushed. “I mean, my family is,” he admitted, seeming to shrink into himself as his eyes darted away again. “And the professors seem perpetually disappointed in me. It’s twice as bad with Aunt Matilda.”
He forced out a laugh, but you could tell he was quite hurt by the situation.
You brought a hand up to his jaw, gently tilting his head up so he’d look at you. “Well, I think you’re brilliant,” you said. “And they have every reason to be as proud of you as I am, Garreth. You’ve invented half a dozen potions just since I’ve known you – and improved even more. You’re incredibly kind, even when others are mean to you. And you constantly make me laugh, especially when you and Leander are ‘being ridiculous.’”
He gave you a shy, appreciative smile before pulling you into a hug. “I love you, MC. I’m sorry I hurt your feelings.”
You linked your arms around his back. “I’m sorry I didn’t just talk to you.”
He pressed a kiss into your pinned-up hair. “Me, too.”
You breathed out a laugh. “It was a pretty stupid fight when I think about it.”
“All our fights are stupid,” Garreth replied in an exasperated tone.
You pulled back to glare up at him. “Are you trying to start another one?” you asked in a low, warning voice.
Garreth smirked at you. “Maybe I like when you’re riled up,” he said cheekily. “You can’t wear a dress like this and expect me not to want to take it off of you, you know.”
“Garreth!” you hissed, smacking his chest as you glanced around to make sure no one had overheard him.
He pulled you back tight to him. “You really are especially gorgeous tonight,” he said in a low voice as his gaze roamed over you.
You could feel your cheeks heat under the fire in his eyes. “I…I think we should d-dance now,” you said, needing a distraction from the starved look in his eyes as they devoured you.
“Oh, um…” he said, suddenly nervous again. “I really only practised the waltz, so…maybe we could wait until they play another of those? I could get us some punch in the meantime.”
He had the most adorable hopeful smile on his face.
“Punch would be perfect,” you said sweetly.
“Done,” he said eagerly before darting off to fetch the drinks.
A blur of robes whirled over to you soon after. Leander had danced Sebastian over to where you stood. The latter’s black robes were a suspiciously similar style to the former’s – except his accents were red. Your fellow Gryffindor was looking exceptionally smug.
“Are my favourite lovebirds back in love?” Leander asked, waggling his eyebrows at you.
Your eyes narrowed into slits. “For a Gryffindor, you’re a snake, Leander Prewett.”
“I’m so proud,” Sebastian said, placing his hand on Leander’s cheek and gazing at him fondly. Then, he turned to look at you. “When he asked if he could pretend to take you to the ball, I said yes at once, of course.”
You crossed your arms over your chest. “And what if we hadn’t made up?” you asked them severely. “What would you have done, then?”
Leander’s eyes widened as his smirk fell. He clearly hadn’t considered the idea.
“You two are too hopelessly besotted with each other for that,” Sebastian said easily, waving you off.
Garreth reappeared at your side then. “Here you go, love,” he said, handing you a glass before kissing your cheek.
“Thank you,” you murmured, a fresh blush dusting your cheeks.
“My work here is clearly done,” Leander said haughtily.
“I think you’re right, darling,” Sebastian agreed.
“Care to dance the night away?” Leander asked him, holding out his hand.
Sebastian beamed at him as he took it. “That sounds lovely,” he replied before they sauntered back to the dance floor.
Garreth leaned in to whisper in your ear. “See, that’s how you’re supposed to respond when a man asks you to dance,” he said teasingly.
“Oh, shut up,” you groused, but the words lacked any real bite.
“Never,” he retorted, a mischievous glint in his eye as you turned your head to glare at him.
He laced his fingers with the hand unoccupied by your drink.
“I have something for you,” he said.
You turned to face him. He dropped your hand and pulled a long, narrow box out from his pocket. It was too broad to be a wand but about the right length, and it had a gold ribbon tied carefully around it.
“Merry Christmas, MC,” he said softly.
Garreth traded the box for your drink. He was fidgeting as you examined it in your hands, clearly excited for you to open it. You carefully slipped the ribbon off before taking off the lid. Inside was a vibrant pink feather with a metal pointed tip.
Garreth started speaking before you could even thank him. “It took me a while to get the charms right. I just finished it up this morning, actually. It’s self-inking, so you don’t have to worry about an open inkpot spilling on your assignments. It’s spell-checking, too. That was the tricky part. But I got it sorted out, eventually. Promise.”
He laughed nervously. You were speechless for a moment as you looked up at him, warmth spreading through your chest as your heart squeezed with affection. Garreth bounced on the balls of his feet, the movement threatening to spill the glasses of punch in his hands. His bottom lip was grasped between his teeth, and a few stray curls were falling into his eyes.
You looked back down at the fwooper feather quill. “Garreth, this is so sweet,” you gushed, wondering how you’d managed to be upset with such a sweet man only a few hours ago.
His eyes lit up. “You like it?” he asked hopefully.
“I love it!” you assured him. “I have a gift for you, too, I just…I don’t have it with me.”
You left off adding that it was because you hadn’t expected him to be there. You didn’t want him to think you were still cross.
“All I wanted tonight is your forgiveness, MC,” he said with such earnestness that you worried you might melt right to the floor.
You brushed his hair out of his face. “You have it,” you replied, not wanting him to doubt it for a second. “Do you…do you forgive me, too?”
He ditched his punch on a tray floating nearby. He cupped his newly free hand over your cheek as he leaned in towards you, pressing his lips to yours gently in reassurance. He pulled back far too soon for your liking, though. “Always,” he vowed.
Your heart felt swollen to bursting. “I want to go get your present,” you said more intensely than the words merited as you reverently replaced the lid on the box.
“You don’t have to leave the dance. I know how much you were looking forward to it,” he said with such sweet consideration. You almost winced as you recalled calling him “inconsiderate” the other day. “You can give it to me tomorrow.”
“It should be now, I think,” you stated.
“It’s really not–” he started.
“It’s in the Room of Requirement,” you added, cutting him off. His brows drew together. He could tell you were trying to communicate something, but he couldn’t tell what it was. Bless him, you thought. “You should come.”
A beat later his eyebrows shot up to his curls as realisation struck. You almost laughed when he just replied with a rather serious “yes” before quickly abandoning the other nearly-full punch glass on the tray.
He followed you out of the Great Hall. Once alone in the corridors, you clutched the box to your heart with one hand and laced the other with his. He lagged behind you as you tugged him along.
“Getting cold feet?” you joked, hoping to speed him up a bit.
“Just admiring the view,” he replied cheekily.
You glanced over your shoulder to find him staring down at your bum. He smirked at you when he saw that you’d caught him.
“You’ll have a much better one once you get this dress off me like you promised,” you said in a sultry tone.
In the flickering candlelight of the hallway, you could see Garreth’s eyes darken as he held your gaze. Then, he took off sprinting and called back impatiently, “Come on!”
You giggled as you chased after him. He slowed to a jog to let you catch up. You only paused briefly to take off your heels. When you reached the seventh floor of the Astronomy Tower, he was on you before the entrance had even fully materialised. He held your face in both hands as he kissed you hungrily, backing you into the forming door.
A needy ache started low in your stomach as he nipped at your bottom lip. You’d been without him for too long, stupidly holding a grudge over a simple misunderstanding about…something, surely. You couldn’t remember what now.
Garreth held you to him with a hand behind your back as his other felt blindly for the handle. His hold on you kept you upright as the door gave way behind you. Your heels slipped from your fingers and clattered to the floor as he backed you inside, and you tangled your now free hand in the base of his curls as you devoured his lips.
Your back smacked into the wall, and Garreth pressed himself against you. Your legs parted to allow him in closer, and you could feel the evidence of his arousal pressing against your centre. Your body tried to gasp and moan at the same time as he shifted his attention to your neck whilst his hips ground into yours. It was one of the most needy, pathetic sounds you’d ever made, but it seemed to spur him on even more.
“Fuck, MC,” he groaned into your neck before biting down on the skin where it met your shoulder.
Your legs almost gave out from the delicious sting of it. It hurt, but it brought a wave of pleasure, as well. You loved when Garreth was almost animalistic in his need for you.
Your head lolled to the side, opening up your neck to him further as you used your purchase in his hair to hold him close. You spotted the supply cabinet next to you, and you slipped the box containing your quill onto it before you lost yourself and dropped it.
You then slipped your hand between the two of you to palm the tent straining Garreth’s neatly pressed trousers. He shuddered at your touch and let out a breathy moan in your ear. You stroked your hand up and down the length of him until he suddenly grabbed your wrist and pinned it back against the wall.
“You’re going to ruin me early, you minx,” he growled.
You felt a jolt of excitement at the idea that just touching him over his trousers could have him so worked up. Before you could even contemplate how to get your hand free and back on him, he dropped your wrist in favour of grabbing a handful of your arse. At the same time, his lips rejoined yours in a dizzying kiss. You were pliant in his arms as he slid his tongue into your mouth.
Without breaking your kiss, Garreth rucked up your dress so his hand could slide under the fabric, skating up the outside of your bare thigh. He groaned as he hiked your leg up around him, pulling you even closer. His hips pressed forward into yours, seeking friction, and you gasped against his lips as his shaft pressed firmly at your centre. It put a delightful but maddening pressure on the bundle of nerves there.
“Garreth,” you moaned out. “Please.”
“Please what, love?” he replied breathily. His verdant eyes nearly burnt into you as he looked down at you with such love and earnest. “I’ll give you anything. Just name it.”
You groaned with need as your hips shifted against his, continuing to rub his shaft against your core in a way that sent sparks of pleasure through you. It wasn’t enough, though. “Please,” you repeated, feeling almost drunk with desire. “I need you.”
“Fuck,” Garreth muttered. The desperation in your voice was wearing away whatever self-control he had left – it was never much when it came to you anyway. “As you wish, love.”
His fingers danced over your skin and traced the edge of your knickers at the crease of your thigh. He dipped into them, stroking his long fingers between your folds and making you keen.
“Merlin,” he breathed out. “You’re drenched for me, darling.”
You moaned as the pads of his fingers came up and circled over your clit. Your head fell back against the wall with a dull thud, and you had to grip his shoulders for support as your legs began to tremble.
“You look really good in these dress robes,” you quipped, already panting from his ministrations. He knew your body well, and it never took long for him to work you into a right state.
Garreth smirked at you. “I’ll look even better in you, love.”
As he said the words, his finger slipped inside of you. He quickly found a spot that had a tension coiling low in your abdomen.
“Fuck, Garreth,” you keened. “Oh, gods! That f-feels so good!”
He took a handful of your skirts, pinning them against your stomach to leave your knickers exposed. Garreth dropped to his knees in front of you. You scrambled for new supports as you could no longer reach his shoulders. One hand scraped along the wall behind you while the other tangled into his curls.
“Evanesco,” Garreth said, his breath ghosting over your core. He watched his finger disappearing into you without the obstruction of your knickers. “So gorgeous.”
You could feel your face flushing at the praise. Garreth was quite keen on your intimate parts, and he always made sure you knew it.
He leaned forward and licked at your centre as his finger kept pumping into you. Garreth groaned even louder than you did. “Gods, you taste divine, darling,” he said before licking you again.
He kissed and sucked on your little nub, and you prayed your legs wouldn’t give out altogether. If they did, though, you were confident Garreth would catch you in time.
His tongue flicked over you eagerly, and the coil that had wound in your abdomen threatened to snap.
“Gar, I…I’m….” you tried, but then you couldn’t breathe let alone speak when your muscles tensed as you succumbed to utter euphoria.
You called out his name as waves of pleasure rocked through you, each sensation heightened as Garreth kept licking ravenously at you. You were practically convulsing from the intensity of your high. You might’ve felt embarrassed by your reaction if Garreth hadn’t looked so utterly enamoured with watching you fall apart so unreservedly.
About the same time, a loud crack rang out through the dimly lit room.
Garreth dropped your skirts and his head whipped around, his finger sliding out of you as he turned. You looked up blearily toward the noise, and your pleasure was immediately replaced with a shock of horror.
“Oh, dear!” Deek said, gaping at the two of you in such a compromising position.
Garreth blinked at the elf, whose eyes were wide and cheeks were reddening as he looked at the young wizard’s glistening face. You were too stunned and embarrassed to speak.
With a quick swish of his wand, Garreth calmed the erection that had been straining his outfit. He’d learned the spell early in your relationship, as you had a habit of riling him up at any number of inconvenient times – in class, during meals, before you left on some adventure. Essentially, any time he was around you, he was at risk, and the spell was easier than always donning oversized robes whose sleeves would dip into his cauldron when he tried to brew.
“Professor Weasley asked Deek to check on the students after they disappeared from the ball,” the elf said. He decided it was better to look at his feet than the pair of you. “She also asked Deek to remind Mr. Weasley that a child has not been born out of wedlock to your family in over a century and Mr. Weasley will not be changing that.”
Garreth, who has been furiously wiping off his mouth and chin, flushed crimson at that. “Right,” he said in a stilted tone, shifting nervously on his feet. “Is she expecting a…a report back?”
“Deek will not tell the professor what he, uh…stumbled in on,” the elf assured them. “But the students should return to the ball promptly. Deek does not want to have to come back.”
Another loud crack rang through the room as Deek left.
“Well, that was mortifying,” Garreth said as he rubbed at his temples.
“And you weren’t the one with your bits out,” you quipped as you fought the urge to bury your face in your hands. “At least Deek’s not going to tell your aunt.”
“Merlin, I half expect she’ll know anyway, to be honest,” he replied. He pulled you into a hug and pressed a kiss to your temple. “I’m sorry. I should’ve known we wouldn’t get away with slinking out of the ball like that.”
You chuckled as you wrapped your arms around him, as well. “I was the one who lured you up here,” you pointed out.
“I came quite willingly,” he argued.
You brought your hand down to palm him through his trousers again. “You didn’t come at all, unfortunately.”
Garreth moaned, dropping his forehead onto yours as you stroked him, rapidly undoing the work of his spell.
You bit your bottom lip as you locked eyes with him. “I don’t think we have time for you to make good on your promise to get me out of this dress, but…” You spun in his arms, pressing your arse back against him as you braced your hands against the wall. “I think we could still make it work.”
Garreth groaned. He grabbed your hips, pulling you tight against him. He smoothed one hand over your arse appreciatively before sliding it down to grip low on your skirts. He pulled the fabric up around your waist, so your lower half was completely bare to him. He immediately bent to place a lovebite on the curve of your cheek, while his hands kneaded into both of them. You moaned as his teeth grazed your skin.
“You ready for me, love?” he asked, his lips brushing the mark he’d just left.
“Gods, yes!” you replied eagerly, shifting your hips back a bit further in an attempt to entice him to get on with it already.
Garreth stood up straight again as he undid his trousers. He pulled himself free from the garments and wasted no time in dragging the head of his cock through your soaked slit. He anchored a hand on your hip as he slid into you.
He let out a ragged breath as he bottomed out. “You feel amazing!” he groaned. His other hand gripped your hips, as well, and he began thrusting in and out of you. “You’ve no idea how much I missed you, love!”
You wanted to argue – tell him you were sure you knew exactly how much, because you’d missed him, too – but you could only keen as he rocked you forward with each of his thrusts, filling you completely on every push inside. There was really nothing like it. He felt tailor-made for you.
You were so enraptured that you almost didn’t notice when a mirror appeared on the wall in front of you. You gasped in surprise as you looked up, catching sight of Garreth’s reflection. He winked at you.
“Fuck, I was right,” he panted, causing you to draw your brows together in confusion. “I do look even better inside you.”
You let out a laugh. He was utterly ridiculous, and it only made you love him that much more.
“Don’t worry, love,” he said with a cheeky smile, still pumping into you and also still holding your gaze through the mirror. “You look even better. I mean, gods, look at you! All done up.” He wrapped a hand gently around your throat, letting his thumb stroke up your jaw and across your painted lips. You parted them and sucked his thumb into your mouth, pressing your tongue flat against the pad of it like you would the underside of his cock. Garreth’s eyelids fluttered as he let out a low moan. “And in this dress…” He withdrew his thumb and fisted the same hand into the fabric pooled up near your ribs. “Your arse…” He gave it a squeeze, the tips of his nails just barely digging into your skin. “I fucking love your bloody gorgeous arse!”
His thrusts grew firmer, his hips slapping louder against your cheeks and thighs. You moaned as the force sent shocks of pleasure through you.
“Faster,” you begged, half because you knew it’d take a quicker pace to get him off and half (maybe more) because you wanted him to pound into you until your body held the memory of his cock inside you forever.
Garreth was keen to oblige. His grip on your hips was bruising as he slammed into you at a pace that had you barely able to keep your breath let alone even think about trying to keep up with his movements. All you could do was brace yourself on the wall as he took you.
“Ah, fuck!” Garreth groaned as you clenched hard around him. In the mirror, you could see that his head was thrown back in ecstasy. “So bloody perfect!”
His eyes snapped open, immediately locking with yours as his movements stuttered. He let out a strangled moan as he came, his cock pulsing deep inside you. You could feel the warmth dripping down as his semen started to leak out of you. Rather than pull out, Garreth leaned down over top of you to capture your lips. One arm wrapped around your stomach while the other hand tilted your chin toward him. You were both panting, unable to go without oxygen for long, but the brief kiss expressed the depth of your affections all the same.
“You’re never allowed to be cross with me again,” Garreth joked. “I can’t stand being apart from you for so long.”
You were inclined to vow he never would be as you stared into his bright green eyes, crinkling at the corners as he beamed at you.
“I can’t bear it, either,” you said.
Garreth pressed another chaste kiss to your lips. “I love you, MC. So much.”
You couldn’t help but smile. “I love you, too. Even more.”
He glared at you playfully. “Those are fighting words, witch.”
Your smile turned into a smirk. “Then I’m lucky I’m a much better duellist.”
Garreth rolled his eyes but couldn’t deny it. Finally, he moved to right himself, sliding out of you before he helped you upright, as well. You both made quick work of making yourselves presentable – smoothing out your clothes, fixing your hair, and ensuring neither of you retained the sweat or musk of your recent activities. Garreth pouted a bit when you conjured new knickers for yourself, as he rather liked the idea of having easy access should you get the opportunity to sneak off again.
Once you were both put together, Garreth started for the door.
“Wait! I haven’t given you your present!” you said, quickly moving to rummage in your cabinet.
He chuckled. “I assumed you were the present.”
You glanced back at him with a raised eyebrow. “That’d be rather selfish of me, wouldn’t it?”
Garreth grinned broadly. “Actually, I considered it quite generous.”
You rolled your eyes, but you did find it rather sweet. “Consider this a stocking stuffer, then,” you said as you handed him a small box.
Garreth opened it to reveal a stack of cardstock. His mouth fell open as he picked up one of the small, rectangular cards to get a closer look.
“I saw the logo in your notes, and I thought it was really good,” you explained. “I figured you’ll need these once we graduate.”
Garreth looked from the card to you and back down again. In golden, embossed lettering were the words Exquisite Elixirs in a large, curly font curved underneath a rendering of a cauldron whose whirls of steam were spiralling upwards off the paper. On the other side, there was a little portrait of Garreth and a description of his company.
He still hadn’t spoken, so you continued, “If you tap it with a wand, it turns into an order form. I know you plan on being able to fill orders by owl.”
He looked up at you again, and his eyes were misty now. He pulled you into a tight hug. “Thank you! These are perfect!”
Ever since he started the process to register the brand, his parents had seemed doubtful. They kept lecturing him on what a “serious business” it was to run a company. His older brother had a friend of his lecture him on the myriad permits and regulations involved in the brewing industry – all things Garreth had already learnt in his research and discussions with Mr. Pippin. His aunt had tried to convince him to take a year or two to apprentice at J. Pippin’s, but Garreth knew he didn’t need it. He’d spent ages at the shop picking the potioneer’s brain. He’d also hounded Sharp with his questions during his office hours – almost no one else went to them, anyway.
The business cards, aside from showing how closely you paid attention, indicated that you actually believed in him. That meant the world to Garreth, especially because he knew you weren’t scared to let him know when you thought an idea of his was foolish. You wouldn’t just go along with things to make him feel good. You truly thought that he could run a successful shop.
He slipped one of the cards into his pocket before tucking the box safely with the rest of his brewing supplies.
The two of you took the floo down to the Great Hall to save time. You slipped back into the ball and immediately noticed Professor Weasley’s scrutinising gaze on you. You resisted the urge to smooth your hair, as it would only incriminate you. Instead, you gave her a polite wave.
She waved back, but you didn’t like the knowing look her smile had. You flushed as you quickly pulled Garreth toward the drink table. You were practically dying of thirst. You ran into Natty and Poppy as Garreth poured you both drinks. They both looked stunning in their gowns. Poppy’s was yellow with cap sleeves and full skirts. Natty’s was a brilliant white with her sleeves to her elbows and a corset nipping in her waist before the flair of her bustle.
“I was glad to hear you and Garreth finally made up,” Natty said, smiling at you as you approached.
“Did Leander already tell you?” you asked.
“Ominis did,” Poppy said.
You raised an eyebrow. “How did Ominis know?”
“I know everything that happens in this castle,” the Slytherin said as he stepped up to Poppy’s side. He handed her a drink before wrapping his arm around her waist.
“So, Leander told you and you told them?” you said, rolling your eyes.
“I didn’t need to be told anything,” Ominis said arrogantly.
Garreth returned with your drink, and you gave him an appreciative smile.
“I’m quite observant on my own,” Ominis continued. “Which is how I know you two have been up to no good. Couldn’t wait for dinner to find something to eat, Garreth?”
The redhead choked on his punch. “W-what?” he spluttered, wiping his mouth with a serviette a house-elf had promptly provided.
Poppy and Natty went wide-eyed as they caught Ominis’s meaning. Your face was burning. How could he know? Had Deek told?
“Don’t be coy now,” Ominis teased. “It’s quite obvious. I could – ahem – smell her on you when we were getting drinks. I wouldn’t hug your aunt without cleaning up if you don’t want detentions until you graduate.”
Poppy clapped a hang over her mouth to keep from giggling. Natty looked horrified. You and Garreth both gaped at Ominis. You had checked before you left the Room of Requirement. You swore you couldn’t smell anything that would suggest what the two of you had been up to in there. But, then, Ominis often heard things you couldn’t. Maybe it was the same with his sense of smell? At any rate, you were never going to live this down.
“I think they’re playing a waltz,” Garreth said, turning to you. “How about that dance?”
You downed your drink and took hold of his outstretched hand. “That sounds like a great idea,” you replied.
“Leave room for the nargles!” Ominis called after you before snickering with Poppy.
You made it onto the dance floor and were quickly lost in the crowd of swirling couples. You hid your face in Garreth’s chest, but you couldn’t help laughing. “Oh, gods, I think this is officially the most mortifying night of my life,” you said light-heartedly once you’d composed yourself.
Garreth started to spin you as you danced now that you weren’t burying your face in his robes.
“I think we’d best get our own place once we’re out of this castle full of nosy gits,” he said resolutely.
You let out another laugh. “Yeah, living together unwed wouldn’t have people talking at all,” you said sarcastically.
Garreth lifted his hand, and you turned under it before stepping back into his arms. “It would, wouldn’t it?” he said, giving you a knowing smile.
You gave him a questioning look in return.
“I’m not about to propose on – as you put it – ‘the most mortifying night of your life’ if that’s what you’re thinking,” Garreth said severely as he continued to lead you around the dance floor. “But if I were to…?”
“Were to what?” you replied, playing thick, as he dipped you.
“Were to propose, obviously,” Garreth said, exasperated, before pulling you back up. “What would you think of it?”
As you did another turn, you suppressed a smile that threatened to break onto your lips. “Are you, then?” you asked before clarifying, “Proposing?”
“Not yet,” he replied with an easy smile as he stepped forward to take you back in his arms.
“Then I’m not telling,” you stated, a hint of a sly smile tugging at the corner of your mouth.
Garreth rolled his eyes at you. “You vex me, witch,” he said drily.
“I just know you like surprises,” you replied innocently.
“Good ones,” he clarified.
“Exactly,” you said, winking at him.
A broad grin spread on his face, and he seemed lost in thought as he stared over your shoulder as the two of you spun slowly around the room.
You snapped him out of it when you said seriously, “This isn’t about that message from your aunt, is it? You haven’t been skipping your potions?”
“No, of course not. I take them every week,” he said. “You?”
“Every month,” you assured him.
“That’s so not fair,” he groused. “Why are the contraceptives for blokes four times as often?”
“We’ll see what’s ‘not fair’ when I’m the one carrying our babies for nine months each,” you retorted.
Garreth smirked at you. He looked insufferably smug.
“What?” you bit out, not seeing the humour in all the hardships that were sure to come with your future pregnancies.
“You said ‘when,’” he pointed out.
“Huh?” you replied, befuddled.
“You said, ‘when I’m the one carrying our babies,’” he said, doing a poor – and rather screechy – imitation of your voice.
You smacked him on the chest. “I do not sound like that,” you groused.
Garreth’s grin grew even wider. He looked utterly chuffed. “But you did say it. ‘When’ and ‘our.’ You want to have my babies.”
“Shut up,” you said tetchily, trying to pull out of his arms so you could go dig a hole to crawl into.
Garreth just held you tighter, laughing at your attempts to wriggle free. “You want to marry me and have my babies, and I’m happy to oblige, love. You just tell me when.”
You froze as you gaped at him. “Did you just–?”
“Officially? No. I’m still not letting you tell our children I proposed on the most mortifying night of your life,” he said seriously.
“There is very little about this night fit to tell any children, let alone our own,” you quipped.
Garreth gave you a lopsided smile. “Yeah,” he said wistfully. “It’s been a good one.”
You shook your head at him. “You’re incorrigible,” you said disapprovingly.
He stared at you like you were as luminous as one of the twinkling lights floating above you. “You’re incredible,” he said fondly before dipping his head to kiss you.
You melted in his arms as Garreth held you tight to his chest.
“Oi! Get a room, you degenerates!” Leander said, bumping Garreth’s shoulder as he twirled by with a sniggering Sebastian.
“That’s not as effective as you might think!” Garreth called back, making you laugh.

can you tell us about your trolls x su au or tell us the basics of the story?
Sure! There probably won't be a lot of details because there's a lot of things i still need to figure out.
The idea for the au came because i remembered the song drift away and thought "this is so floyd and branch" and then it spiralled from there. None of this is final btw. things can and probably will change because I don't make aus often. 💀 Also don't think too hard about the su part of this au. Im probably only gonna use the basic parts of it and will barely use anything from the show because I'm mostly focusing on the movie of su and not the serie and epilogue.
I currently only have the roles for the main characters so
Branch is Spinel
Floyd is Steven (but he's still the one who makes the promise with branch even though in su that was pink diamond and not steven.)
Clay is Amethyst
Spruce/Bruce is Pearl
And JD is Garnet
I want to add viva, poppy and brandy too but I don't know which characters they would be yet.
So brozone breaks up. JD, spruce and clay leave and before floyd goes he makes the promise with branch, he stays and one day he'll come back for him. Years pass by and floyd still hasn't returned. Branch's colors are becoming duller as the years go by, he starts doubting himself but never fully gives up hope.
Here's where i struggle a bit with the story because i don't have a reason yet why floyd never came back. At some point floyd reunites with the others but idk the reason yet why branch isn't part of that reunion.
Just like in the song drift away i want branch to get a message that shows floyd and the others so that he realises that he's been abandoned and that floyd broke the promise. That's when branch would go grey. (Idk if I'm adding rosiepuff in this au)
So this is when the su plot comes in. Branch comes with the injector. He fights brozone and in the process everyone gets reset except floyd. When they get reset they're back into their roles before brozone broke up. So clay is back to being the funboy, spruce the heartthrob and jd the leader. With branch i think he would act more childlike or innocent? Because im not gonna make an adult act like a baby 💀
So now floyd has to figure out how to turn his brothers back to normal. I think the order of who comes back is gonna be the same as the movie so clay->bruce->branch->JD.
Oh and the others didn't know about the promise. they didn't know that branch stayed in the garden all those years, Floyd never told them.
Have not thought yet how floyd brings them back.
After clay gains his memory back they go back to the injector and try to turn it off when they realise it's harming the land. They make it worse and now the injector is going faster(?) So they realise they NEED branch to get his memory back or else they can't turn it off.
when floyd manages to bring branch's memory back they talk and he's on their side. He removes the injector and everything seems to be going fine. It's then when branch fears he is going to be abandoned again and thinks floyd will reset him again after he removed the injector so they fight. Somewhere during that JD gets his memory back too. I think most of this part from the movie I won't change. So floyd and branch fight one to one. Floyd sings the song "change" maybe? Idk yet. Branch saying that he can't just make everything better just because he sang a song. He tries to continue fighting floyd but he tires himself out so then this scene happens
Tumblr media
I am changing the lines though. I think something like "i just want my brothers back." Idk
I think that's all i have at the moment. I'll add more to this post if i think of anything. Most of my ideas for this au was me looking at spinel clips and thinking "oh i can draw that with branch!"
I hope this is readable because I'm writing this during midnight and am NOT good at explaining stuff. 💀
If anyone has ideas i would love to hear it! because im not good at figuring stuff out

My Emily Henry Rankings
@brekker-by-brekkerr you asked here if I had a ranking of the Emily Henry books and couples, so after way too long, here's my opinions, along with some really bad explanations. <3 Spoilers ahead!!
Books:
Happy Place. This was the first Emily Henry book I read, and the first book that ever made me cry. Harriet was so relatable, and it was probably my favourite setting out of the four books. The characters were all so interesting, and they had such a great dynamic. I love the found family trope, and she absolutely nailed it.
Book Lovers. I loved the plot so much, and Nora was also so relatable in a different way. I loved how even though she isn't perfect, she doesn't have to change and give up her job to get what she wants. Her relationship with Libby reminded me a lot of me and my sister, which was so nice to read about.
People We Meet On Vacation. I really liked the structure of this book, and I think it made the reveal so much better. I also loved reading about all the places they went to.
Beach Read. I loved this book so much, so the only reason it's ranked in last place is because I somehow loved the other ones even more. The plot felt a little slower, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I only managed to read about 5 minutes a day.
Couples:
These were much easier to rank for some reason.
Nora and Charlie. I just love them so much, I don't even know what to say. I love how they respect each other's choices and make their decisions according to what they want/need, not what the other one wants. I usually really like the quiet, more mature relationships where they know they love each other without needing to shout it from the rooftops.
January and Gus. I though the way they learned to communicate without pushing each other was really sweet, even if it led to some misunderstandings. Enemies to lovers is always great, especially if one if then doesn't even realize they were never actually enemies.
Harriet and Wyn. I was a little annoyed at Wyn for most of the book to be honest, and so frustrated with their miscommunication. That's not to say I didn't like them. I think they were so sweet and had some of my favourite lines.
Poppy and Alex. Again with the terrible communication skills. I get that it's an important trope for the genre and it made sense in this book, but I'm a very impatient person. I did love how well they know and understand each other, but I think I preferred the scenes when they were just friends.
I'm also going to do main characters, because why not:
Nora Stephens.
Harriet Kilpatrick.
January Andrews.
Poppy Wright.
The reasoning here is purely relatability. I can see a bit of myself in all four of them, but some more than others. As I was writing this I realised the ones at the top I find relatable because of more negative things, like my insecurities, or qualities I have that I don't like. I share a lot of qualities with the ones at the bottom, but at the end of the day, I like reading about people who share my struggles and doubts because it's comforting to know I'm not alone. I don't know if this makes any sense, but it was very interesting in my head.
So anyways, these are my opinions. How would you rank them?

Don't Stand So Close To Me - Part 3
Tumblr media
Don't Stand So Close To Me - Part 3
Warnings: Swearing, Teacher-Student relationship
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5,
__________________________________________
You storm towards the Great Hall after making sure your eyes weren't red from crying, the last thing you wanted was to worry your friends more. Natty and Poppy were leaning against the wall outside talking to Garreth and Leander. Garreth spots you first nodding his head in your direction letting the group know you'd arrived.
"Are you alright Y/n?" Natty asked putting her arm around you pulling you closer to them "I've never see Sharp react to you like that, he was bang out of order" Leander adds. You smile tightly at the redhead in thanks.
"I'm going to have to miss dinner, I need to get to J Pippin's I won't have time tomorrow" after promising Poppy you'd go to the kitchens when you get back, you bid your friends goodbye and made your way towards the exit only to be stopped by a voice bellowing behind you.
"Well well, if it isn't the former Teacher's Pet! On your way back to the dungeons to 'work' your way back into his good books?" Imelda laughed, you stopped dead in your tracks and turned marching towards her.
"Y/n don't!" Garreth called when your friends saw you draw your wand. You stood toe to toe with the Slytherin your face a hairs width from hers and you could see the fear in her eyes.
"Imelda, you may be good on a broom, but my wand work in 40 times better than yours and right now, the mood I'm in, I don't care about being expelled! So do yourself a favour and walk away!" Your threats weren't idle either as you gripped your wand tight.
Imelda realised her mistake "Jeez L/n can't take a joke anymore?" She huffed with fake bravado and turned her back and hurried away, you watched her leave for a moment not trusting a sneak attack while your back was turned before pocketing your wand and making your way back to the exit.
"See you tomorrow guys" you smile tightly leaving your shell-shocked friends in your wake.
Yes things had changed over the summer, gone was the meek, shy girl and in her place was a hardened, cold hearted young woman who felt she had nothing left to lose.
After flooing to Hogsmead you made a beline for Pippin's to get your ingredients.
"Y/n good evening, a little late for you isn't it?" With a smile you hand him the list of what you needed, along with all possible extras for the following classes this week. You'll be damned if you'd allow him to try and embarrass you in that way again.
After paying and shrinking eveything to fit into the pockets of your cloak you decide to pop in to see Sirona before heading back. Sirona had her suspicions about your relationship with Sharp but never judged you or even spoke the words out loud, but you both had an understanding.
"Oh, that's not a happy face" Sirona observed throwing her towel on her shoulder and leaning on the bar.
"Well my first day could have gone better" you answered sinking onto the stool before her. You quietly poured out your heart about what happened. She stood there and listening only pursing her lips occasionally. "None of this would have happened if Weasley would have just let me drop the class" you finished with a sigh. Sirona just stood there watching you, like she was expecting you to have some kind of epiphany.
"Just say what you want to say Sirona, your silence is deafening" you snort making her smile
"Do you really think, this wouldn't have happened if you'd have dropped the class. One way or another you'd have come to blows. Everything is still too raw between the two of you.....and neither if you can seem to let things go" taking her towel she wipes the condensation from under your tankard of butterbeer as you lifted it to your lips.
"He let things go months ago" you mutter taking a long drink. You see her raise her eyebrow knowing things you don't seem to
"Well for someone who let things go, he seemed to be here every night you were working over the summer, upstairs but he was here and only on nights you were working" you are mouth drops open "I didn't tell you as I didn't want to upset you further and he wasn't causing any trouble but.....it seems that now, you need to know my friend"
You sit quietly processing the information Sirona had just dropped on you. Why had he been here? He ended things with you, he stopped caring, stopped loving you.....hadn't he?
Bidding the hostess goodnight, you flooed back to Hogwarts, deciding to stay in the Room of Requirement for the night and tend to your beasts. After feeding and grooming them for several hours you head to the bed the room presented you last year when you needed it most after that fateful night.
Why had Aesop been watching you? Why had he refused to let you leave his class? If he did still have feelings for you, why had he treated you so in class? You reach for the locket that hung around you neck and open it, inside was a charmed photo of the two of you looking at the camera then each other.
Sighing heavily you close up the locket and tucked it back away beneath your shirt, you closed your eyes and drifted into an unsettled sleep.

Here we are baby, I'm back!!
I pretty much come back to Tumblr every time there's any news about the Trolls franchise and then dip once again after a film comes out, but what can I say, carpe diem?
I was not expecting an announcement so quickly but there it is! An official date of release for the third film of the Trolls saga. No plot premise, no teaser, nothing known at all about the film so I just thought to jump in with my predictions/wishlist for Trolls 3.
Disclaimer!! These are my opinions, I don’t expect everyone to agree with them and as much as I’d love to hear what people have to say, please be polite in the way you interact with others in the fandom, whether you agree with them or not.
So, without any further ado, here's my predictions/hopes for the next trolls movie:
1. Branch-centred
As much as Branch is already one of the main characters of the franchise, Poppy has stolen the show in terms of actually being the protagonist, and I think it's kind of unfair considering that Branch has more going on as a character. So far we’ve seen Branch’s arcs revolving around trying to win over Poppy’s affection, but now that after THIH and the confirmation of their relationship (amen) Branch needs a new point of development outside of his relationship to Poppy. And there might be an interesting solution.
2. Branch the King
This might sound very fanfiction-like, but I think it’s very likely for Branch to be considered the ‘King’ of the Pop Trolls, even only based on the implications of his relationship with Poppy. And I can see why it would make such a great conflict! Trolls hinting at him becoming king, would 100% make Branch spiral into a whirlpool of insecurities. How could he feel ready or worthy of such a role if  just a few years back he was the gray survivalist everyone wanted to avoid? In a kind of similar fashion to what Dreamworkd did with HTTYD 2, I’d love to see Branch battle with these new insecurities about the fear of becoming a leader and follow his journey into self-worth and acceptance (considering he’s pretty much already covering the role of a leader without even realising it).
3. Branch calling Poppy ‘sweetheart’
There’s literally no reason for this other than personal gratification. Take this with a grain of salt.
4. Insights of Branch’s other relationships outside of Poppy
I think since the first movie Branch has gotten better in terms of developing relationships with other characters, but it hasn’t been shown much in the past films, so I’d like to see how these other new relationships (other than the one he has with Poppy) would affect him, especially with characters like Prince D or Cooper, which I think are the closest friends he has at this point. Or even Cloud Guy, to be honest.
5. Movie’s enemy
Someone said that if we get one more female antagonist, trolls would be the first franchise to have had only female villains, and that to me seems very cool already. Either that, or a natural enemy? Like, something is destroying our home and we need to leave. Trope that has been used and reused multiple times, but honestly I just need an excuse to see different genres of trolls and different environments as they all just look stunning in that handcrafted sort of aesthetic.
Personally, I really wished they never had to recycle Creek as a character in the tv show so he would make a comeback as a fully fledged villain, but it's too late for that now, isn't it.
6. Other Trolls cultures
Disco trolls are 99% likely to happen so I'll consider that a win. But more music subgenre? Yes please! Especially if we consider music genres from different cultures with a different history. Yodel was something that I feel should have been developed more, especially if you can throw in different environments and designs for different trolls (trolls living in the snowy mountains yodelling? Why the hell not??)
7. Poppy and Branch’s solo adventure
This is less likely to happen, but honestly I just want some good old 'married couple banter' just like what we got in the first movie. Leave James Corden and the two trolls under a cowboy hat at home this time, please.
8. New grey characters
I feel like it's about time we get introduced to other grey characters, even just to see how greyness affects other trolls too.
9. Something else other than turning grey
I’m 100% stealing the idea from someone's fan fiction here, but there should be a deeper state of depression other than being grey in the troll universe.
10. Poppy saving Branch
This is probably the thing I want the most in the next movie, because I feel Branch has done so much for Poppy in their previous adventures but I still have to see Poppy do something for Branch. We have seen him saving her from turning grey in the first film, we’ve seen him jump to save her from Barb’s spell in the second one, I'd love to see Poppy be the one actually saving Branch, even for it to turn into a reverse ‘True Colours’ moment.
Honestly, I just hope the film is good :)
Stay safe kids and have good Holidays!

My fun little headcanons regarding names in TMNT (everything about turtles refers to a situation in which they were pro-mutated/turned human) (all headcanons apply to my works/AUs):
all of Aprils across multiverse have different flowers as middle names; '07 is April Rose, '12 is April Iris, Rise is April Lily, Bay is April Daisy and Mutant Mayhem is April Poppy (others I'm not sure of because I'm not very familiar with them, but I was thinking Dahlia for '03) (obv I'm not really with MM either for now but 1. it was my brother's suggestion and 2. honestly, the vibes are there, I think)
Casey Junior's full name is actually Cassandra as well, because Cass senior would not care for gender norms, especially in the apocalypse. They haven't been going by Cassandra since she died though. (before they both found it hilarious to confuse people with their names and nicknames).
speaking of, his middle name is Raphael (I headcanon that Raph died very shortly before CJ was born)
generally, most Casey's aren't very fond of their middle names, for various reasons; Junior - because it feeld like an expectation of greatness (not that it didn't achieve it, but still), '07 Casey - because the name is old-fashioned and pretentious (Ferdinand), Bay Casey because the turtles clown him for it (John; "boring, basic, straight, white church boy"), '12 Casey because it's too masc for his genderfluid ass and the turtles clown them for it (Nicholas; "saint Nick/Santa Claus") and Ex-Foot Recruit is the exception because she is Trans of Gender™ and chose the name herself (Anne)
even excluding the two Cassandras, not every Casey is actually Casey - some of theirs full names are Cassius (*cough '07 cough*)
if they were to be legally recognized, you'd think most of the turtles would wear the surname Hamato or Splinterson, depending on their Splinter's origin, and you'd be right. but, there are exceptions; Bay turtles use O'Neil, per April's suggestion, due to their pre-mutation history with her family; Rise gang were debating between Hamato and Jitsu, ended up hyphenating and using both; the ones that met Batman had to come up with an excuse for suddenly knowing the Waynes, so after a long and complicated discussion they settled on being Jason's (who at that point was legally un-dead and is a natural ginger (because I have them humanized as gingers, also I'm a ginger!Jason truther)) cousins adopted out and discovered through ancestry or some shit like that, and given that that would mean they had a choice in surnames, everyone ended up with something slightly different: Leo kept to being just Leonardo Hamato, as he was the closest with Splinter, Raph went Raphael Todd just to be annoying, Donnie decided on Donatello Todd-Hamato because they always wanted a hyphenated last name and assuming Todd was their "original" surname, it should go first, and then Mikey choose to be Michelangelo Hamato-Todd, just to finish out the options.
Rise turtles think of their colors as middle name, but because they aren't actual names, they figured they could find something similar in pronunciation, spelling or meaning and thus ended up with: Raph - Reed, Leo - Bloom, Donnie - Violet and Mikey - Orane.
in a multiverse/crossover scenario, Aprils use their middle names, Caseys go long ways to avoid using middle names (they are all thankful for Junior bc that's one less nickname they have to come up with). Donnies collectively refuse to use their full name, which isn't really a problem because there's a lot of nicknames that can come from Donatello, especially if the only person that cares about the designated gender of the name is the transfem; Mikeys also avoid their full name, but unlike Donnies - who do it on principle of Donatello being an artist and not a scientist - they just don't want to make the effort of saying the whole thing. again, not an issue since there's a lot of ways to shorten Michelangelo. unlike those two groups, the Raphs realised the need for full name almost immediately after meeting, because there isn't that much to do with Raphael, and they had to resort to non related nicknames in some cases, and finally, the Leos - also known as the Biggest Trans Conglomeration™, mostly don't care what they're called, as long as it's the right gender, but they don't necessarily struggle with coming up with nicknames - at least not as much as Raphs and Caseys.
on this note, might as well give out the decided on nicknames like it's candy on halloween lmao
2007: Cass, Rose, Leonardo, Raphael, Don, Mike
2012: Case, Iris, Lea, Raph, Dee, Michael
Bayverse: Casey, Daisy, Leo, Rafa, Danni, Mikey
Rise: Cassie, Lily, Nardo, Red, Tello, Angel, Junior
Batverse: Leon, Ra, Donnie, Angelo
that's it, I don't really know why I wrote it all out, goodnight 💚

prompt: hot chocolate ideas: dessert shop. sunny. afternoon.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The weekend approach in an alarming slow rate.
At least to you it is.
A boy you fancy in class whined to his fellow Gryffindor friends - quite loudly, unbeknownst to him - that he ran out of supply and needs a companion to Hogsmeade this coming weekend.
And when all of them refused, Onai having a prior engagement with her mother and Prewett wants to sleep off the weekend, Garreth Weasley resigns to going alone.
You saw an opportunity.
If you just so happen to be at the south gate when he's leaving, feigning coincidence over the plans to go to Hogsmeade too, uh well.. he doesn't need to know that.
"And pray tell, how exactly are you going to greet him? You barely even talk him."
Poppy questions, her eyebrow raised in a manner of challenging your brilliant strategy.
"Ha!" You scoffs, a finger shakes close to Poppy's face. "I have conversed with him before, here and there."
"Alright.. about..?"
"Generally everything." You say with a little smug on your face. "He even calls me by my first name now. We're getting closer. I could feel it."
Poppy snorts. "Yes, getting closer to becoming an acquaintance, I should suppose."
You smack her lightly with your rolled parchment; Binns' History of Magic assignment. Poppy snickers away before playfully sticking her tongue out.
She is your greatest supporter and mocker. You love her nonetheless.
Days passed and you stand awkwardly by the gate sometime in the afternoon. Shifting on one foot over the other as you train your eyes for a certain green-eyed, red-haired Gryffindor boy.
After what feels like ten minutes, you finally spots him.
Of course you expect him to be in his casual wear, but you realise you hadn't truly see him in one before. Always with robe, or thick red and gold jumper, or basically any other Hogwarts School Official attires.
His smiles has an effect on you like the sun does; warm and bright. His laugh that travels through the air reaches your ear like a melodic tune. You always find it adorable whenever he cackles uncontrollably before class.
Wait, his laughs..?
That's when you realise he isn't alone.
Next to him, the Slytherin who recently joined last year is flashing a sweet, sickening smile. A smile with a meaning that you could easily recognise. You gave him that same smile before. Like fool in love.
You know they were close. At one point practically attached to the hips. But something happened at the end of last year and they grew apart. You'd hoped they stayed apart but clearly it's a new year miracle; their hands are joined, fingers intertwined as she ducks her head to laugh at something he said.
Witnessing any more of this will only bring sorrow and envy and resentment and all the ugly emotions you rather not accidentally show to him. You could care less if the girl sees it though.
Turning on your heels, you pick up your pace to avoid being seen and head straight to Honeydukes.
A broken heart best mended by sweets, after all.
It doesn't matter if the weather is still too sunny outside for a hot chocolate, you are feeling like a thick cloud that'll pour unwarranted rain.

~ December's Books Reviewed ~
The Dreamer Trilogy by Maggie Stiefvater
(1,101 pages total)
I wasn't expecting to enjoy this trilogy as much as I did. I loved the characters in particular, but the plot was also engaging and went in directions I wasn't expecting. I would say that my one regret would be that I hadn't read the previous trilogy first. Maybe I'll go back and read it later but considering I now know where all the characters stories end I don't know how much enjoyment I'll get out of watching people pine and/or fight until they work out the relationships I know they will get to. That being said, I didn't feel like I missed out on any enjoyment while reading it as a result of not reading the first trilogy. I fell right into the story and the characters easily and really truly did love all the dynamics etc.
I gave this trilogy between 4-4.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(🌗)
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
(541 pages)
Absolutely incredible. So worth the wait (I've been trying to find this book in a shop for AGES!) and very pleased that I finally found a copy. Absolutely chilling at points and definitely almost has minorly horroresque elements (but this is coming from someone who really hates horror books so probably isn't that bad to most!) It almost made me cry (and I'm not a cryer) too. Basically, I'd definitely recommend!
I gave this book 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Poppy War Trilogy by R.F. Kuang
(1,862 pages total)
*SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW*
A little heavy on military scenes for me. I found it a tad confusing at points, and definitely began to run out of steam towards the end of the trilogy. However, it did keep me engaged through all three books and I did finish the trilogy so it was far from bad. Overall I think it was an interesting read, and I did really like the sort of slow realisation that you had that the "protagonist"/speaker was actually most definitely the villain. I think loads of people would absolutely love this trilogy, and Kuang is a fantastic writer, it just maybe wasn't for me.
I gave this trilogy 3.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌗
The Maidens by Alex Michaelides
(356 pages)
Was okay. Not great, but certainly not bad either. Kept my attention throughout, and I honestly wasn't expecting the twist at the end so that was undeniably successful. I will say that without knowing anything about the author, it was very very clear to me from about 20 pages in that he was a male writer writing from the perspective of a female protagonist. I googled and I can confirm the author is male. He didn't do anything overtly sexist or anything, I think there is just a vibe that you can pick up on.
I gave this book 3.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌗
The Betrayals by Bridget Collins
(423 pages)
The only reason this book isn't getting 1 star (and the only reason I think I was able to finish it) is because of its potential. The game at the centre of the story is never explained, nor was the government, nor (as far as I could work out, but I confess to beginning to slightly skim read) was the entire character of "the rat" and the point of their storyline. The relationships and descriptive language felt uncomfortable to me, and a very old fashioned approach to many things. The "twist" felt badly set up and overused. Additionally, the entire thing was just unnecessarily complex, like the author was trying to show off how clever and intellectual they were, but failed.
I gave this book 1.5 stars ⭐️🌗
Curtain: Poirot's Last Case by Agatha Christie
(284 pages)
Quick, easy, enjoyable. Almost got emotional reading the end of Poirot, but it also was a very fitting end for him too. I loved the symmetry with the first case and book too. Basically, a Poirot novel is never not going to be good.
I gave this book 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

can we talk about how the Tv shows Handle Cloud Guy? and Poppy for that matter.
Tumblr media
he's fairly harmless in the films just makes some brief appearances and doesn't outstay his welcome but in the tv shows he pops up quite a lot and he's made into this all powerful bully and honestly straight up stalker.
who messes with people for sadistic pleasure and never really gets any sort of comeuppance for his behaviour except maybe in the episode with his parents but even then he gets what he wants in the end.
and in the Trollstopia episode "" Cloud Control "" it gets worse since we find out he does this with one Troll from each of the other tribes constantly harassing them and showing up to ruin what should be happy occasions for them.
and when the Trolls he harasses get together and finally stick up for themselves he fakes a depressive spout all to guilt them and make them out to be in the wrong.
only for it to turn out to be a big trick and once again the episode ends with the Joke being on the victims.
not only is this kinda disheartening writing imo especially for tv shows targeted towards young children but also it makes Poppy a straight up enabler.
given she goes out of her way to ignore Cloud Guy's actions and demonise others even when he does stuff like flood the village out of spite in the Drought episode when Branch refused to give in to his demands any longer.
and worst of all in Cloud Control when the people who CG picks on finally stand up for themselves she makes out like their in the wrong and downplays his actions.
making out like he was only doing it to secretly help them in his own way and making them apologise because CG feels bad after being stood up to.
to be clear even if it hadn't turned out CG was faking being upset to prank them this would still be awful of poppy as it isn't down to them to take into account his feelings when he never did theirs.
so yeah Poppy just comes across in the Tv shows as some sorta school teacher who ignores blatant bullying but when someone finally snaps and fights back well then she starts taking it seriously.
and if that had been the point of any of the episodes like she had a mini arc of realising why she was wrong well then that'd be fine if anything that'd be great.
but she didn't instead she carry's on defending CGs actions and actively demonises anyone who dares stand up to him.
this is another thing I'm Hoping a Third Tv show will finally fix after all these years hopefully having an episode that finally calls CG out on his actions.
and has Poppy finally stand up to him on behalf of the other people he often harasses maybe Bro zone could be involved as well.
like they see CG harassing Branch as per usual and stick up for him maybe even call Poppy out on her downplaying his actions all the time.
and when CG pulls a prank on Bro zone for revenge Poppy finally steps in and despite CG trying to downplay it as just a joke she firmly scolds him.
and forces him to apologise to Both Bro zone and Branch and tells him if she finds out he's been up to any of his old tricks against any Troll in any of the Tribes well then he'll officially be banished from the village.
and she sends him away with his tail inbetween his legs.
or just something like that ya know? like I said I really feel like if a Third show does get made then this is something they need to fix as the way they've portrayed CG and Poppy in regards to CG is pretty awful imo.

Genres: Indie Pop, Indie Rock, Chamber Pop
Tumblr media
REVIEW
In light of Vampire Weekend releasing their 5th album tomorrow as of writing, I feel like reviewing their debut is fitting to better understand the band and boy do I understand them now!
'Mansard Roof' was definitely a good introduction to this band; It's short, poppy, and got me in the mood to enjoy some pretty 00's pop music. The instrumentation is definitely unique, too.
'Oxford Comma' has very relatable songwriting as I do not give a fuck about an oxford comma. To me, this whole album sounded quite whimsical and silly and it works! I love the happy vibe of this thing, especially on the next track: 'A-Punk'. The guitar riff is so bouncy and fun! I can see exactly why this charted, it's so cheery!
I'm absolutely in love with the instrumentation on 'Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa', the rhythmic hand drums add so much to this song. The Peter Gabriel reference was also a cool surprise. The production is equally good on following track 'M79', though less minimalistic. The lyrics on 'M79' are great too, particularly the bridge.
'Campus' is the only song I new already from this album. It's always a great moment when you're listening to something and realise "OH IT'S THIS SONG". I love the clean guitars all through this album, but particularly here. They add so much to the sound of the band.
After 6 bangers, 'Bryn' is the first track I'd describe as just "good". This one sounds a bit more all over the place as opposed to their neat, clean production on the rest of the tracks. It's still good, though. As is 'One (Blake's Got A New Face)', which I applaud attempting a slightly more experimental feeling. Unfortunately it doesn't go all the way, and ends up sounding like a particularly mediocre Talking Heads song. I prefer it to 'Bryn', though.
On 'Walcott' the band returns to its great songs. The organ (i think?) melody is so much cheerful, I but it's string arrangements put me off a little bit. Can't help but think they sound a little bit sappy?
'The Kids Don't Stand a Chance' isn't one of the best outro's I've heard, but it does its job. It's production is in line with the rest of the album, stellar, but I felt a little bored through it. Definitely still enjoyable, though.
Vampire Weekend's debut is one of the most entertaining pop albums of the 2000s I've ever heard, providing minimalistic production and stunning vocals. The worst thing about the album is its front-loadedness, but wow is that first half good! Its lyrical content also falls flat sometimes, but not enough for the issue to be glaring. I'd certainly recommend this album.
FINAL SCORE: 85/100
