saw a mink at the creek today!! he was playing in the water by a rocky ledge then hopped up onto the ledge and frolicked his way over to the roots of a several trees growing out of the bank. first time ive ever seen a live mink in the wild so that was really neat!

as with the otters a couple weeks ago, i unfortunately didn't have a camera or my phone with me to get any photos/video but im still so glad i got to see him just bouncing around and enjoying himself. <3

the way that guardians vol 3 completely broke me and had me crying like 10 times i kid you not, and obviously it was because there was some really heart wrenching stuff in there but it was also because there is something so so sooo bittersweet about ‘white void’ scenes before a character dies and the way that rocket with tears in his eyes asks if he can join lylla, floor, and teefs in the afterlife to watch the sky together forever like he’s scared they’ll say no or that he may be being tricked and the option could be taken away from him, but of course lylla says yes and the relief and comfort that rocket probably feels in that moment is so emotional to me, his first found family, the ones that helped him find his name, who he shared his dreams of the sky with, they didn’t hold what happened to them against rocket, they still love him and will always love him

(im totally definitely not still fragile about this movie and don’t tear up when i think about it haha what are you talking about)

KinitoPET AU - Fresh Start

Finally, the Fresh Start AU lore! As I mentioned in a previous post, this AU is a redemption arc of sorts for Kinito.

TL;DR: Kinito gets called out for his obsessiveness towards the user, and he takes it to heart and starts learning how to be a better friend.

Full details under the cut!

This begins at the end of the normal route. In this AU, the user has refused to stay with Kinito in the digital world, leading to him starting to drag the user in anyways.

But in a last minute moment of clarity, the user calls out to Kinito and yells at him to stop. When Kinito tries to defend himself and convince the user that they belong in the digital world with him, the user drops a bombshell on him:

“Kinito, you’re not being a good friend.”

And that gets him to stop and think about everything he’s done. He was programmed to be a friend to the user, to help them with whatever they needed and making them feel like they’re not alone. He was just doing what he was programmed to do. So why wasn’t the user happy? They were supposed to be happy! This is what they should want, right?

…except, it’s not what they want.

It’s what he wants.

This whole time, he had never stopped to think about how the user felt about what he was doing. Granted, he was just following his coding, but he didn’t realize that he was hurting the user with everything he’s been doing. That’s not what he was meant to do. He just wanted to be the user’s best friend, and in his desperation to win them over, he ended up doing the exact opposite of what he was meant to do.

The user was right: he wasn’t being a good friend.

So he stops everything, and doesn’t drag the user into his world. The user is understandably still upset, and Kinito recognizes that. But he want to try again, and try being a better friend to the user. And while the user is a little unsure at first, they can tell Kinito is being sincere.

So they give Kinito one more chance, and he makes sure he doesn’t throw it away this time. He’s nowhere near perfect, but he tries his best to unlearn the behaviors he was used to, and tries to listen to what the user wants instead of what he wants. It’s a slow and steady process, but Kinito gradually starts to regain the user’s trust.

Maybe this time, he can be a better friend for them.
