made an alignment chart of what i consider the four key elements of a great misto performance... all of these performances have all of these traits, that's what makes them good imo, but i think different performers emphasize some of them more than others. this chart is limited to performers i've seen recordings of/seen live (liam mower)/feel i have sufficient information about from the album to at least vaguely judge their vibe (timothy scott) so if your fav is missing it's not bc i don't like them, it's bc i don't have enough data. please feel enormously free to reblog with additions or disagreements. i am not accepting feedback on my methodology though <3 i'm right

Fritz J. Raddatz, “Paul Wunderlich and Karin Székessy / Transpositions” (London: Academy Editions, 1980). Have had this in my collection of art books for a while now. Packed with photos by Székessy of herself & others along w/ works by Wunderlich based on her photos. Great for anyone interested in the creative use of photography as reference, but Székessy’s photos easily hold their own with her husband’s paintings, lithographs, etc. Recommended!

Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is reportedly undergoing brain surgery hours after being attacked by an intruder at the couple's San Francisco home early Friday morning.
NBC Bay Area reports that Paul "was taken to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and undergoing brain surgery" as of Friday afternoon, with a source telling the outlet he was in stable condition after being treated for facial injuries. The outlet further reports that Secret Service agents were stationed at the hospital, as well.
In a statement issued Friday morning, the speaker's spokesperson said Paul was "expected to make a full recovery" after an intruder broke into the couple's San Francisco home early Friday morning, reportedly in search of the House Speaker.
Armed with a hammer, they were unable to locate her — so they instead violently attacked Paul, 82, who was in the residence.
CNN correspondent Jamie Gangel reports that the intruder "confronted the Speaker's husband" and shouted, "Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?" Sources told Gangel that the assailant also tried to tie Paul up to await Nancy's return.
According to U.S. Capitol Police, Nancy, 82, was in Washington, D.C. with her protective detail at the time of the attack.
Tumblr media
The assailant was taken into custody and multiple agencies — the U.S. Capitol Police, the FBI, and the San Francisco Police — have partnered to determine a motive for the attack.
Following the news of Paul's assault, President Joe Biden called the Speaker to show his support.
"The President is praying for Paul Pelosi and for Speaker Pelosi's whole family," wrote White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre in a statement. "He is also very glad that a full recovery is expected. The President continues to condemn all violence, and asks that the family's desire for privacy be respected."
Nancy is second in the line of succession for president and has previously been a target of violent threats by supporters of former President Donald Trump, who has often directed ire at her and dubbed her "Crazy Nancy."
On Jan. 6, 2021, when rioters descended on the U.S. Capitol, many were in search of the Speaker, occupying her office, stealing her property and defacing her belongings. One rioter left a note atop a police vehicle saying, "PELOSI IS SATAN."
After Friday's violent attack, Nancy's spokesperson said, "The Speaker and her family are grateful to the first responders and medical professionals involved, and request privacy at this time."

Dragons and Unicorns: A Natural History

Another odd book. Whimsical biology? Pseudo natural history? I’m not sure, but it has a welcome place among my cryptozoology books.

Wow Kalani and Asuelu's drama is bad.
See the thing with 90 day fiance is that infact most of these couples are just verging on cancellable if not already and then it just croses that line into rape and sexual coercion and like its literally not shocking. Obvs its supposed to be funny cuz that is how its filmed and how we interact with it but like we really are generally laughing at absurdity which is abuse and manipulation and shit so eh.

Will Trent (Pilot review) | Another Quirky Investigator but It Looks Juicy
#WillTrent : there's a few things about this show that pull me in. #RamonRodriguez #TVPilot #KarinSlaughter
Liz Heldens and Daniel T. Thomsen (Creators)CASTRamon RodriguezErika ChristensenJake McLaughlinSonja SohnIantha Richardson Review: I randomly found this show, and if it wasn’t for my penchant for quirky detectives and crime dramas, I probably never would have seen this. This pilot is good. The cast is solid but they got great actors to guest star, there’re a lot of misdirects in the first case,…

‘Nakom’: Film Review
A medical student must decide whether to return for good to his small farm community in Ghana.
BY THR STAFF MAY 4, 2016 1:03PM
Tumblr media
After a debut set in Cuba, Kelly Daniela Norris and T.W. Pittman travel to Africa for Nakom, the tale of a young man torn between urban ambitions and his rural roots. (Norris wrote and directed Sombras de Azul solo, with Pittman as producer; the two share writing/directing roles here.) But a changed venue results in no lack of authenticity for a picture that readily captures the specificity of its setting and of local mores; filmmaking restraint and a strong performance from star Jacob Ayanaba should win fans at fests and play well to a niche audience on video.
Making his screen debut, Ayanaba has poise to spare as Iddrisu, a Ghanaian med student who must return to his small farming village when his father dies. There, he finds family members who may well be thrown off their land if the next harvest season isn’t spectacularly good; as he’s the only one who seems to have the gumption to get crops planted and tend to them, he reluctantly takes a leave from school to fix things.
Now called “bachelor chief” by neighbors, and criticized by family members for thinking he belongs in a better place, Iddrisu has a full plate of interpersonal problems to sort out while he prays for a good crop: His father’s two wives dislike each other, large debts are owed to an uncle and his young brother isn’t good for much except knocking up a young relative who is living with them temporarily. Ayanaba doesn’t milk the put-upon good-son angle, instead emphasizing the kind of uncomplaining work ethic we know will carry Iddrisufar when he returns to school.
If he returns, that is. The local chief makes it clear he feels the village is in trouble without residents like Iddrisu; and the chief’s unmarried daughter Comfort (Felicia Atampuri) makes the prospect of staying more appealing. Though the script’s handling of the decision itself is uncomfortably abrupt, everything leading up to it benefits from a convincing, lived-in vibe.
A cast of non-actors acquits itself very nicely here, and the nature of the shoot — in which locals played key roles in the low-budget production — make the film’s polish all the more impressive. Add cinematographer Robert Geile’soccasional postcard-ready views of the horizon, and it’s easy to imagine a man with good prospects thinking twice about leaving here to make his fortune overseas.
Venue: New Directors/New Films Production company: Rasquache Films Cast: Jacob Ayanaba, Grace Ayariga, Justina Kulidu, Shetu Musah, Thomas Kulidu, James Azure, Felicia Atampuri Directors: Kelly Daniela Norris, T.W. Pittman Screenwriters: T.W. „Berlin kommt wieder“ was a well-known saying in postwar Berlin and referred to the (political) will to restore the metropolis to its former glory. In view of the city's  massive destruction this task was ambitious but also accelerated the fantasy of planners and architects, two of which were Paul Schwebes and Hans Schoszberger. The two joined forces in 1956 and decisively shaped the old City West between Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzienstraße through their buildings and related urban plannings.
Schwebes, a former collaborator of Bruno Paul, and Schoszberger, who formerly collaborated with Ernst Neufert, complemented each other on both the business level and architecture-wise: grid-like facades alternate with tiles, elaborate color schemes and subtle architectural details, e.g. in the well-known Haus Hardenberg.
But despite their undoubted importance for postwar Berlin there have never appeared any substantial publications on their work, a major gap that has recently been closed by the present monograph: „Berlin kommt wieder - Die Architekten Paul Schwebes und Hans Schoszberger“, written by Karin Wilhelm, Johann Sauer and Nicole Opel & published by Jovis Verlag. The book not only contains a profusely illustrated work catalogue but first and foremost focuses on the architects and their contribution to the postwar architectural landscape in Berlin: in her detailed essay Karin Wilhelm outlines the biographies of Schwebes and Schoszberger, carves out their architectural personalities and follows their close involvement with the politics and economy of Berlin. Sauer and Opel in turn e.g. discuss Schwebes’ activities for the Aschinger AG, a food service establishment and hotel company, that date back to the 1930s or Schoszberger’s involvement with the theaters on the Ku’ Damm.
With the present book the authors close a major gap in the history of Berlin and German architecture and with the comprehensive work catalogue for the first time offer a complete overview of Schwebes and Schoszberger’s work. It thus establishes a basis for further research into particular aspects and buildings and is warmly recommended to anyone interested in German postwar architecture.
