I loved the idea behind this book.  It begins with new information being released about the future of mankind and our evident downfall that is approaching.  What would really happen if we found out that everything we thought we knew about life itself was a lie?  The introduction to all the different characters was great and I felt like the authors created a really good cast for this story.   The concept makes for a thrilling tale, particularly that last chapter.  I had a "Wow" moment at the end that makes me excited for the next book.  The only issue I had was a little confusion following which character's POV I was reading because it would sometimes change from paragraph to paragraph.  However,  I was able to get used to this unique style of writing and wound up really enjoying this book.

5 Books on my Shelf to Read Next
Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a good, anxiety free day today. And if you’re not, well, then I’m here to hopefully distract you for a little bit, and talk about some paper books I want to read next off my shelf. So here they are! Yes they may have been the first five books I saw, but they’re all very different, and I think that this post will show that! I’m going to add their individual…

While insomnia is a serious medical condition, for J.J. and A.J. Cook, it seemed like a good thing...to spark their medical sci-fi thriller "Percivious Insomnia." To learn more about the symptoms, er this novel, check out this Q&A.

Percivious Insomnia starts out with a great premise. An insomnia pandemic sweeps the globe, and Dr. Cooper thinks he has come up with the solution that shows promise: Noctural, a sleep aid with no side effects. For some reason; however, the drug doesn't seem to work on certain people. Dr. Cooper has no clue why, considering the testing showed so much promise.
I was initially interested in this book because I have (oddly enough) been dealing with insomnia starting this year. It seemed like perfect timing to read about a world where a lot of people are dealing with what I have, and to see where this sci-fi thriller went with the concept.
The story follows multiple perspectives who are dealing with different aspects of Noctural's potential failure. The story started off strong and was explanatory with some sections of action. About 1/3 of the way into it; however, I felt that the pacing started to lag, and the story became more about telling the reader what each character was thinking rather than showing.
The characters were diverse enough that I wasn't overwhelmed with keeping track of who was who at the start of each chapter. I was just disappointed that the story got boring less than halfway into the story. This book is also the first in a trilogy, which seems like too many books for this story.
I received an advanced copy of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
