Y/N is pulled from sleep at the feeling of a gentle hand rubbing up and down her back, nails lightly scratching a path over her shirt. A smile graces her face when she looks up to see her boyfriend of eight months crouching down next to her bed. "Hi, Derbear." She whispers through a sleepy smile.

"Hi, babygirl. You looked so cute sleeping, I didn't want to wake you." Derek says with a blinding smile. Y/N is quick to bury her face back into her pillow, blushing at Derek's words. Derek huffs out a laugh as he climbs into the bed with the younger girl. "How was school?" He asks, pressing a quick kiss to the crown of her head. Y/N merely shrugs her shoulder, resting her head on the werewolf's chest. "Did something happen?" He worries. 

Y/N sighs, letting the feel of Derek running his nails down her shirt-covered back calm her before she says anything. "Nothing happened, per se," She mutters, drawing patterned on Derek's chest. "It's just the teachers, and students, and stuff." She finally says after a moment of silence.

"Did somebody say something to you?" Derek questions, still running his hand up and down the girl's back in an attempt to keep her grounded and in the moment.

The room is quiet for a few minutes as Y/N gathers her thoughts, deciding how she wants to talk the problem out with her boyfriend. "It's just, that ever since our relationship became public, everyone treats me differently. Like, kids talk about me behind their backs. Granted, they don't know I can hear what they're saying, werewolf hearing and everything but that doesn't matter! The teachers treat me differently too. They don't call on me when I know the answer, and they know, I know it! And they call on me when I don't know the answer and embarrass me in front of the whole class. Hearing what everyone is saying about us behind our backs is what hurts the most." Y/N vents, squeezing her hands into fists when her claws slowly start to come out. Taking a deep breath, she continues. "I hear them say I'm only with you for the money or the sex. I'm not only with you for either but don't get me wrong, the sex is great, but it's not the only reason I'm with you! Or the money! I don't care about the money! I promise Der." Y/N says, tears quickly brimming her eyes.

"Hey, hey, calm down babygirl. I know you're not with me for either, though I would have to agree, the sex is pretty good," Derek says with a cheeky smile, making Y/N huff out a laugh. "What else are they saying?" He questions quietly.

"They say that you're blackmailing or threatening me to be with you, calling you a pervert for being with someone so much younger than you. Eight years isn't that much! Mom and Dad were nine years apart! Dad wouldn't have let us be together if he saw something wrong with it" Y/N exclaims.

Sure, the Sheriff didn't see any problems with the couple being together, but Stiles sure saw a problem.

Y/N and Derek were too wrapped up in each other to hear the sound of the loft door being opened and closed, or the sound of footsteps coming toward them until it was too late. Stiles' scream of horror when he looked at the couple is what brought them out of the intense makeout session. Y/N hurriedly throws herself off of Derek's lap, covering herself with the comforter, and looking around the floor for her jeans and shirt she had thrown off in her haste to climb onto Derek's lap.

"Stiles! Do you not know how to knock?" Derek growls, pulling his jeans on over his boxers.

"I didn't think I had to knock! I would have if I'd known you were sucking my baby sister's face off! Dude, you're like, ten years older than her! Dad is gonna flip when he finds out, Y/N!" Stiles yells.

"He's only eight years older, and Dad already knows! I wouldn't be dating Derek if Dad didn't know. Now will you please leave so I can get dressed? I would rather my boyfriend be the only person to see me in my underwear!" Y/N yells at her older brother, sending the other boy scurrying out of the room and down the stairs. Y/N sighs, flopping down onto the bed, and covering her face with her hands.

"At least we still had our underwear on. It could have been so much worse, babydoll," Derek says as he hovers over her. He pries her hands from her face, giving her a gentle smile when she glares at him. "Look on the bright side, now when I sneak in your window at night, we don't have to be as quiet, since he knows. Granted, I'm not gonna make you scream, that's only for me to hear." Derek says, nipping at the younger girl's neck, making her squeal.

"You better get off my sister and get down here, Derek Hale!" Stiles yells from the living room of the loft. Derek growls softly, his eyes flashing Alpha red, Y/N's flashing yellow in return as she giggles at her boyfriend and Alpha.

"We're coming, keep your pants on, Stilinski!" Derek yells back, getting up from the bed to finish buttoning his jeans and find a shirt. He throws Y/N's discarded clothes at her, flashing his eyes at her one last time as he says, "We're not done here. When he leaves, I'm going to finish what I started." Y/N squeaks, moving to quickly put her clothes on, in a bid to get her brother out of the loft quicker. Derek chuckles, watching his girlfriend rush down the stairs while she's still fixing her shirt.

"Stiles has a reason to have a problem with our relationship, but no one else does! I just don't understand why anyone else cares." Y/N says, sniffling softly, all the steam from her rant quickly leaving her.

"Y/N, can you look at me please?" Derek gently asks, pulling his girlfriend's face to his. "I don't care what anyone else thinks of us. This relationship is between you and me. No one else. No one else has any say in our relationship. I'm dating you, not them. If I wanted their opinion, I would ask them, but I'm not. As far as I'm concerned, they can all go eat Wolfsbane. I only care what you think, because I love you, and only you."  Derek says softly, smiling when Y/N's eyes widen.

"You love me?" She asks. In the eight months they had been dating, those three words hadn't come up yet. Y/N had wanted Derek to say it when he felt like it, not when he thought she would want to hear it, so she let him be the first to say it.

"I do. I love you more than anything in this world, which is why I don't care what anyone else says about us. Only you."

"I love you too, more than anything, Derek. You're the best thing to happen to me in a long time." Y/N says. Her eyes flash gold, Derek's answering in red. The couple sit for several minutes in content silence, until Y/N says, "My mom would have loved you."

Derek's face breaks into a huge smile when he replies. "I know my family would love you too. Almost as much as I love you. But not nearly as much." He says, pulling the girl on top of him. Y/N softly rubs her nose over Derek's neck, scenting him gently. She lets the smell of her Alpha lull her to sleep, Derek following not long after.

The sound of the dismissal bell rings throughout the parking lot, as students file out of the doors. Derek waits, leaning up against his Camero, watching for Y/N's bouncing bun on the top of her head to come out of the door. When he finally lays eyes on her, she's talking to a girl with purple hair, but is quick to bid her goodbye when she sees Derek waiting for her. She takes off like a shot to him, her backpack bouncing against her back as she rapidly makes her way to him.

Derek braces for impact when she gets close to him, opening his arms for her to run into. The Alpha werewolf encircles her shoulders with his arms when she makes contact with him, her arms wrapping around his middle. "Hi, baby. I missed you today." Derek says into her hair, where he places a kiss. "How was your day?" He asks when she pulls away.

She gives him a radiant smile, puckering her lips in invitation for a kiss, which Derek is quick to grant with a huff of laughter. "It was really good. Since you've started picking me up at the end of the day and you bring me lunch, people have stopped talking about us as much. The teachers are nicer too. I think they're scared of you. It's great!" Y/N chirps happily.

Derek laughs gently at the younger werewolf, sliding his hands down her back to rest of her jeans-clad butt. "I'm glad. Now, let's get home, I've been dying to have you under me all day, and I don't plan on wasting any more time in making that happen. Get in the car, babydoll." Derek all but growls in Y/N's ear, opening to door for her. Y/N makes a sound between a squeal and moan when Derek slaps her butt as she's getting into the Camero, making Derek laugh as he rounds the front of the car to get into the driver's side, revving the engine and pulling out of the parking lot hastily.

Was Scott naive, or just the opposite?

This is of course referencing season 5 and Scott’s trust in Theo.

Personally, I never really saw it as a sign of naivety or stupidity that Scott trusted Theo. He saw a person that needed help, and decided it was his mission to help that person.

Of course it totally helped that Theo’s “bite story” was so similar to Scott’s; that he was taken advantage of and turned into something violent and out of control against his will by a terrible alpha. But I think it’s worth looking at the key differences that must’ve moved Scott.

Scott had Stiles, then Allison and Derek. After that he had Deaton, his mother, even Chris all helping him learn about the supernatural and most importantly, keeping him human. Theo had no one and Scott knows this.

There’s this song line from the Smiths that goes:

“it’s so easy to laugh, it’s so easy to hate, it takes guts to be gentle and kind”

and that’s the closest I will ever come to finding a verbal equivalent for the generosity and kindness that is portrayed in characters like Scott McCall.

He knows that he can be betrayed, he knows he can get hurt, but he does it anyways. Because it’s all worth it if he can help someone. And he did. So many characters changed for the better all because Scott reached out first, and when he got hurt he reached out again.

I think it’s such a beautiful and raw quality and it does something terrible to my soul when such a quality is perverted into stupidity or carelessness.

Trusting Theo was a conscious act, and no matter the outcome, that has to be commendable.

Could you imagine just moving into Beacon Hills from a bustling city like Houston TX, or New York. The small , almost eerie , town is completely different than what you’re used to. Everyone knows each other, there's no large intricate highways, and theres like one fast food chain, and everywhere else is a mom and pop shop. You felt like an outsider, the energy was just so different from back home.

Can you imagine just moving in across the street from Sheriff stilinki's house because he and your dad used to be old drinking buddies.

Could you imagine unpacking all your Mr. Toad figurines and other useless trinkets when you catch two brown haired boys staring at you.

The taller one holding binoculars  in his right hand while his head was turned looking at the door, The other boy staring right at you as he keeps hitting his friend’s shoulder to get his attention. The taller boy, with the buzz cut, looks back with embarrassment. You mouth pervert to them and close your curtains to only find out they are still very sheer. Embarrassed by it you just turn away and continue packing.

Imagine stiles seeing the moving trucks up and down his street. He's curious, not many people move to beacon heels. He sees a black Chevrolet truck pull into the drive across the street. At first he's sees a man, but then you get out next. He's bewildered. Not only was there a new kid, but a hot new kid!? He needed a closer examination and of course he called scott for backup, there's no way you're this hot and not supernatural. Scott and Stiles were extremely embarrassed that they got caught for peeping, but it wasn't like that they swear!

Imagine going to your first day of school, You hoped and prayed to not run into those peeping toms, You hoped they went to some delinquent school miles away. You go your whole day without seeing either one of them, until you head to the office to drop off some paper you had your teachers sign. Just your luck, the guy right in front of you is the tall brunette. He turns around and shows this baffled look, his face calms and he starts nervously scratching his head. You give your paper to the front desk and try to go on about your day. Before you could reach the door you feel a warm and .....clammy hand around your wrist? "Can we talk?" he asks, "In private?" he says sparing a glance to the front desk lady who rapidly turned her head away when she realized we were looking at her.

Imagine heading to the library with stiles and him explaining that he wasn’t trying to peep on you, he was just curious about who was moving in. You taunt him a little but ultimately choose to forgive and forget.

You immediately click with stiles but not so much with his friends, They give you weird looks and lydia always has something backhanded to say which really pisses you off. Although you and stiles talk , y'all tend stay in your separate friend groups.

Imagine having stiles drive you around in his jeep to show you all the great food places to eat off campus.

Imagine talking to stiles through flashlight code at night since yalls windows are across from each other

Imagine taking walks late at night while holding each other to ward off the cold breeze as you try to get to the bottom of why you both can't sleep, could y'all be soulmates?

The reasons I get irritated by Peter and Jennifer using Derek's trauma against him are twofold.

Peter's tales are taken as absolute truth by people, and there's this reoccurring thought that Derek ask for Paige to be bitten. Peter attempts to use Derek's trauma (that Peter himself caused!) as a way to cause Cora and Stiles to lose faith in Derek.

Jennifer throws what she really looks like in Derek's face, accusing him of potentially being shallow after she RAPED HIM. She wielded his trauma like a weapon against him in order to manipulate him, and then tried to insinuate that he was in the wrong for not wanting to fuck a cenobite.

It's very interesting that the nogitsune is aware of how Derek feels for Stiles and vice versa, and comes to the same conclusion as Jennifer: Derek is a useful protector. However, the nogitsune is smart enough not to try to seduce Derek. He just pretends to be Stiles, knowing that being in possession of Stiles' mind and body is enough to effectively leash Derek.

the more i watch visionary the more i've decided that it's not so much the episode itself i had so much beef with but more fandom's reaction to it. the episode makes it pretty clear that the whole narrative conceit is that peter and gerard are manipulators and liars. they are not telling the full truth.

scott and allison are openly scornful of gerard and scott threatens him at the end. stiles explicitly tells cora that peter's told them a story.

yet fandom continues to cite peter's rendition of what happened with paige as gospel. like, yes, peter can tell the truth and does so frequently but he does so in a manner than benefits him. you often have to peel back the layers to see what peter's intentions are when he offers his help. there's usually a price of some kind. peter is a lot of things and not a single one of them is altruistic.

someone once argued with me saying peter wasn't angling for derek to give up his alpha power. i'm sorry the same dude who melodramatically was screaming about always being the alpha at the close of the season? that guy?

tell me this is not the face of a man who knows he's got his quarry on the hook. peter's always manipulating derek to some extent. it's his main hobby.

peter had an intention in telling the paige story to stiles but also in how he told it and the content of the story. he told it to stiles knowing that stiles feels a certain kind of way about derek. he tees up the story by comparing young derek to stiles's bff scott. he minimizes his presence and manipulations in what happened to paige and than closes with saying that blue eyes are an indication of killing an innocent.

he wanted to manipulate stiles's perception of derek. cora was just a bonus.

jennifer has an interesting view of derek. she definitely sees him as her savior due to him sacrificing paige which gave the nemeton enough power to sustain her life when kali almost killed her but he is also a tool. it's all conditional and all about how it benefits her the same as peter.

jennifer uses the memory of paige and derek's affection for stiles as a weapon against him. she perverts his love for them. kate did something similar in preying upon derek's grief for paige to sink her claws into him.

she uses her own victimhood to minimize her own victimization of him. she crocodile tears at him weaponizing what happened to her to manipulate him. she drops that façade quickly when it wasn't working as planned.

the thing that got him to not kill her once it was revealed who she really was? the location of stiles's father and her holding cora's life above his head.

both peter and jennifer are master manipulators and co-opt derek's traumas for their own nefarious purposes.

is it a wonder why derek guards his heart so closely? why he doesn't think he's good for people? with people like this constantly using him for their ends and manipulating him with his own heart?

the nogitsune is interesting because it doesn't even really bother with derek all that much. it wants him out of the way more than anything to the point of giving derek little distractions and than uses him as a protector when necessary.

the nogitsune was there in the cellar when derek mercy killed paige so i do wonder if it was aware while it was trapped in that jar.

it's possible that it could gain more glee from knowing how easily it leashed derek by simply possessing stiles and being aware of the distress it would cause stiles to force derek into a position of having to mercy kill another person he cared about. i would bet it had this as a contingency or a possible play if necessary.

the nogitsune fed off chaos, strife and pain. it clearly didn't have to be physical. it likes it's psychological warfare and it was playing with scott, lydia, allison and kira for all they were worth.

derek hale was probably reserved for dessert tbh. all that pain and trauma probably looked like an after dinner mint to it.

Derek faux-gasps. "Stiles, are you saying you're mine? Truly?" 

That gets a snort out of Stiles.

"How 'bout I act like a pervert instead?" Derek asks, grabbing Stiles's ass and shoving his tongue down Stiles's throat.

Kate stalked the Hale's until she found an in, which was Derek who was fifteen at the time. She placed herself in a position of power as his substitute teacher, seduced him and murdered his family. She found him again, electrocuted him and thought to herself later on that she should have taken advantage of him again. She is an ephebophile. She had a thing for Jackson and wondered about being a substitute(again) to get close to him much to Allison's disgust and the writers actually planned for Kate and Stiles to be paired up in season one before some mtv big wig told Jeff to can it. This actually happened what the hell.

Kate is so much worse than Jennifer Blake, if you need to wank that Derek was taken advantage of the do so, we, J-Blake fans, agree with you. But use the same amount of hate for Kate fans that you use for us. At least our bad guy isn't as bad as yours. Ours is crazy and delusional, yours is a perverted predator who got horny on torturing her former sexual victim and thought about doing it again. And again. And did so again when she deaged him to the age she initially preyed upon him and seduced him again and kissed him and maybe other things? There was some time after she kidnapped teen Derek and before she got to the school. What were they doing in that like hour that she kidnapped him before getting to the school? Freaking gross. When he wakes, feeling movement under him and looks up into Peter Hale’s half-shifted face, he reflects that it was probably a bad decision. The man looks worse for wear, still wearing the tattered dress clothes that he’d initially shown up to the formal in. His eyes glow bright red as he looks down, hearing Stiles’ gasp or sensing some other indication that he woke up, and Stiles screams.

However, Peter doesn’t ask anything of him. He just moves, quicker than lightning, and sinks his fangs into Stiles’ wrist around the small cut he’d just created. Stiles screams in the most confusing storm of pain and pleasure he’s ever experienced, but it’s quickly overshadowed by the howl that Peter releases as soon as he lets go of Stiles’ wrist. His fangs drip Stiles’ own blood back down to his body, and it’s like the world’s most perverted baptism. Stiles is born anew. Or perhaps he is gone; consumed fully and with something entirely different taking his place.

One thing I love about the sciles dynamic is that Stiles is never afraid of Scott. Maybe in s1, when the werewolf thing was new, but not after. Stiles is 100% sure Scott won't hurt him and he's RIGHT

I once made a post here talking about Stiles's relationship with Peter Hale, only to realize, after I received your question, that I can make a similar statement about Stiles when it comes to Scott: Stiles's need for Scott is only exceeded by Stile's love for Scott and this fact remains unchanged throughout the seasons.

The most important person in Stile's life during the series, the one he would do anything for, is without question, his father. But the relationship between fathers and sons, particularly this one, has certain land mines, even at the start of the series, that Stiles and his dad have to navigate carefully around, mostly arising from the traumatic circumstances of Claudia. There are things they don't talk about and badly healed wounds, as the audience can tell by the scene in Co-Captain (1x10), Party Guessed (2x09), and The Girl Who Knew Too Much (3x09).

At the beginning of the show, that complexity didn't exist between Stiles and Scott. Stiles had no boundaries with Scott. He doesn't think twice about showing up in the middle of the night with an impulsive decision to go looking for a dead body in the woods, calling Scott a dumbass, mocking his dreams of being first line, all with perfect confidence that Scott not only wouldn't reject him but there is a very good chance, he'll follow right along.

For a person who endured the violent rejection of his own mother and her tragic death, a friendship seemingly without limitations is something to be treasured. It's something to be fought for. Please, as if something like the threat of bodily harm could deter Stiles from keeping the person he needs and loves safe. Derek scares him because he doesn't care about Derek; the danger Jackson finds himself in is "his own fault."

I know I've talked in negative terms about Stiles's demands on Scott in Heart Monitor (1x06) and going behind Scott's back in Formality (1x11) but those don't contradict this thesis. These actions may not be ethical -- in fact I'm absolutely sure they're not -- but they're designed to protect Scott, both physically and in terms of their relationship. Stiles wants and needs Scott whole but also unchanged, still the only person that Stiles can tease unmercifully or mess up badly with and yet still will ditch his girlfriend to come pick him up. That's why Stiles will insist that Scott do the right thing, no matter what, because that's part of who Scott is. Stiles will throw firebombs at serial killers and endure beatings from a geriatric sociopath in silence so Scott can remain Scott.

Every major relationship crisis between Scott and Stiles comes not from Scott disappointing Stiles but from the idea that Scott's new life and responsibilities will force Scott to stop valuing Stiles the way Stiles values Scott. That's the message behind "You still got me" in Master Plan (2x12): Stiles is stating that no matter how much this werewolf crap changes Scott, he doesn't have to worry about this -- about them. The fear and loss in Stiles's eyes during The Overlooked (3x10) isn't about Scott betraying him but about the realization that the forces of darkness may have finally changed Scott into someone who doesn't need him the way Stiles needs him. The nogitsune torments Stiles in Letharia Vulpina (3x19) by presenting a perverted image of their friendship -- the fox in Stiles's body manipulates Scott into doing the right thing (taking pain) torments Scott (with the ninja-to) and then takes what he needs from the relationship. Stiles puts himself in Eichen House rather than allow himself to hurt Scott that way again in Echo House (3x20) and hides his own pain in The Divine Move (3x21). He'd rather die than let the nogitsune get between them.

Season 5A, of course, is Stiles's greatest fear made real -- that he will go too far, that his own nature will end up destroying this love he values so much and that this friendship that he needs to cope with his life will be gone. There's a reason for that scene with the Jeep in the rain. Stiles could never possibly fear Scott's claws and fangs; the only thing that could make Stiles break down is Scott's indifference.

That's why, in both Motel California (3x06) and Riders of the Storm (6x10) Stiles's ultimate words are always "I need you." For Stiles, Scott could never hurt him as long as he's there.

okay but like there's a few things happening during this particular scene in the overlooked.

it's about the scott, derek and stiles dynamic. it's the scott and derek dynamic. it's especially the stiles and derek relationship.

it's a call back directly to the end of abomination where derek stalks off

remember the conversation at the end of abomination?

scott: we need to work together on this. maybe even tell the argents. derek: [appalled] you trust them? scott: [exasperatedly] nobody trusts anyone! that's the problem! while we're here, arguing about who's on what side, there's something scarier, stronger, and faster than any of us, and it's killing people, and we still don't even know anything about it! derek: i know one thing-- when I find it i'm gonna kill it.

compared to here in the loft where jennifer's manipulated derek and used magic on him to falsely earn his trust.

jennifer: something happened at the recital, at the school, okay? i need to tell you before you hear it, before you hear it for any of them. derek: from who? jennifer: scott, stiles...they're gonna tell you things-- things you can't believe. you have to trust me, okay? you trust me.

this time derek doesn't turn away from scott and stiles. they have offered trust to him and he reciprocates it. they are not on opposite sides now. not anymore. not after everything they've been through.

stiles crying at the idea of losing his father. scott's anger. these are two aspects of derek's life experience that he didn't want them to experience.

but...but they came to him to ask for his help. for him to trust him

and he does.

(derek was going to kill her. his first response to any and all threats is to kill it dead. she poisoned his sister, she tried to kill lydia, she's killed multiple people, she's kidnapped the parents, she manipulated and sexually assaulted him, stiles is crying....)

jennifer's hold just shatters and it's beautiful.

this moment is also called back to in 3B and perverted by the nogistune.

he goes to derek's loft for protection. he cries in the face of stiles's father pretending to be stiles. the nogitsune puts stiles in jennifer's position while it wears stiles's face. it uses stiles's tears as a weapon.

Starting the next chapter of Leave the war with me:

The hospital descends into minor chaos when Boyd’s grandmother and Erica’s parents show up. Derek feels his control slipping as he watches them go, but does his best to look reassuring when they turn back before being ushered out. The urge to howl abruptly subsides when Stiles squeezes his hand. 

A single line of dialogue for the final chapter of Spell on you:

"Did he seriously go on a date with another necromancer? I told him they're a bunch of no good perverts."

Another single line for the Soft Peter series:

“Mm, thank you, Stiles. Your compliments look good on me.”
