Imagine: Okuyasu gets stabbed with the Arrow, and now The Hand can use his other hand to create things. However, these things are limited to what has been erased by The Hand, and also other Stands with similar abilities such as Cream, as Joseph and Jotaro found out when Okuyasu tried to create, "Someone who knows a lot about Stands," and brought back Avdol.

Truthfully I'm a Kakyoin x Jotoro shipper at heart because of the Angst (tm) but you gotta also understand that what they have canonicly is so much funnier then freinds to lovers. They are like two antisocial problem children forced to sit next to eachother. Immediately deciding to beat the shit out of eachother, no explanations needed. But some how by the end of the year they are sitting on eachothers lap and bullying the teacher together. Like what more could you want.

Stardust crusaders as dumb shit I've done

Joseph: loudly yelled out 'let's go peg that disappointment' at school (thought peg meant to throw something at someone hard)

Kakyoin: brought a knife to school and managed to convince the teachers that it was not a knife, in fact, it was just a pen that looked like a knife.

Polnereff: was dipping apple slices in a bottle of chocolate milk as a joke, wound up dropping the apple slice in the chocolate milk and had to drink the rest of the chocolate milk with an apple slice stuck in the bottle.

Iggy: ran on all fours across a row of chairs to scare away the creepy guy who was flirting with my freind (it worked!)

Avdol: saw my uncle smoking outside my birthday party, whipped out the 'No smoking' sign I had in my room (I was obsessed with no smoking signs at the time), then handed it to him with the most serious look I could muster on my face.

Jotaro: stole all the teachers staplers and hid them in lockers 420 and 69, (was going to hide some in locker 34 before realising my locker was locker 34.)

With part 6 over and done with I gotta say, with Stands officially crossing the boundary of absurdly complex and situational I feel like I've looped around into the real appeal of Jojo not being stand battles but the characters interactions and stories outside of those battles. Shit like Polnereff and Kakoyoin making secret handshakes, Josuke and Okuyasu going out to eat italian or rigging themselves a lottery ticket, the torture dance, FF trying to do the opposite of everything, and Jolyne and Ermes shit talking a bunch of alligators during a car ride.

Not to say that theres anything wrong with Stand battles but I've noticed a pattern of them being "HA HA my Stand is invincible! Theres no way for you to defeat my highly situational power!" And they turn around and get their ass beat by a highly situational use of the main characters situational power.

Again, nothing wrong with that. I think that very Golden Comics Era style of action is a key part of it's appeal but after part 3 it's just not THE base appeal of the series anymore

Ultimately at it's core JoJo is a show about a bunch of goofballs trying to save the world from other goofballs and the connections we make with every goofy ball we meet. In this world of bizarre occurrences everyone has their own little things, these defining character traits, that make them just as bizarre and seeing these many levels of absurdity clash within every interaction is truly where the money is.

The true Stand battles will always be the friends we made along the way.

See I don't think jotaro would like playing any video games. Even fighting games. I just dont think their something he would care for at all

Something I find really interesting is that Giorno, as far as we know, doesn't have control over Return to Zero, nor does he know how it works even though he has an inkling about what happened to Diavolo.

Like supposedly Giorno is able to harness Requiem fully unlike Polnereff, and still GER is activated by themself without Gio's conscious acknowledgement. Giorno only really has control over a level-up version of GE's original abilities.

And like, I think about this a lot because why wouldn't Araki let Gio have control over it all? The story would end more or less the same either way

We can chalk it up to "well no one really has full control over requiems. We don't control fate." (So maybe even Diavolo's hypothetical Requiem wouldn't be what he expected)

But I also like to think that it shows a kind of restraint. Giorno can't abuse RTZ at his whim. Even if he does eventually learn about its nature, RTZ is inherently defensive. You won't suffer from it nor the death loop if you leave that kid alone.

I guess what I mean to say is that GER's ultimate trump card isn't a destructive one despite its status as the ultimate stand. Again it could be because fully harnessed requiems are under control unlike Chariot, but i think it does speak to Gio's character as someone who is merciless, but ultimately acts in defense of himself and his friends.

Gio doesn't take pride or sadistic joy out of killing (see Ciocolatta especially). GER doesn't manifest in a way where Diavolo just blows up automatically, it required the enemy to attack first.

tldr I think the reason why RTZ is a passive ultimate ability, is because it's an ability Gio isn't meant to abuse even if he wanted to. He harnessed this power to defend and protect, and to strike those who actively mean to harm him and those he cares about

Giorno does what he thinks is Necessary (Even if necessary in his mind can be a bit… odd), and requiem’s ability reflects that!

Requiem, as a reflection of that moment of its awakening, serves to Protect. Protect Giorno, Protect his allies, Protect his goals. Protect, and only that!
