Bury the dead
"And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the breath returns to God who gave it"- Ecclesiastes 12:7
Everyone dies, but it's not the end. Death is simply another step in our journey through life, and it doesn't have to be scary. But it can be sad, and that's okay. Some ways you can use this work of mercy is by volunteering to help with funeral expenses, make a dish for the luncheon or for the families who lost loved ones, and offering to clean up your local cemeteries and neglected headstones/plots. If you have any other ways you like to partake in this corporal work of mercy, please reblog with what they are!

"...Through doing penance and accepting in faith the inescapable sufferings of this life, we can be purged of sin’s effects and grow in holiness. Nevertheless, few seem to be perfect when they leave this world. They still need some purification, a painful but purging “fire,” as Scripture calls it (see 1 Corinthians 3:14–15).
That’s precisely why we pray and offer Masses for those in purgatory. As Scripture tells us, our intercession helps them: “For it is . . . a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins” (2 Maccabees 12:46, Douay).PT"

I’m watching quiet on the western front, and some of these scenes have me on the verge of tears.
There is just so much brutality in war, I can’t understand how anyone could justify things like this. The world has advanced so much since 1918… I can’t imagine a large global conflict happening today.
I think of countries currently in war,
Mostly Ukraine.
Being subjected to such thoughtless, heartless, and barbaric fighting
Regardless of side my heart weeps for the lives lost.
How can I not have sympathy for the dead.
They didn’t dictate the actions of their government, and payed for it in their stead.
How could one justify war?
Because I see no justification for it.

Trouble // Pray for the Dead
Out from the depths
I cry to you, yeah, you
Shed all your tears
For the one, who is dead

Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28
Pray for those who are no longer with us Lord. The children. The sick. The young. The old. I pray you guide us to the hope of a new light. That their souls may find their way home. May they rest in enternal peace. Blessed are the Dead who die. Let them reast from their Labors.
As the sunshines, and moon rises. Protect us. Give us the strength to move forward. I pray for them. I pray. I pray. For whatever good it may bring.
Amén.

Prim's name wasn't the only one in the reaping bowl because the entire point of Prim being chosen is to show that life in Panem is random and cruel. These kids truly are selected and die for nothing, based on nothing, most of the time. There is often no grand cosmic plan or 4D chess conspiracy at play in awful circumstances unfolding, just systems of oppression working as they were designed. And you can do everything right to the letter - be the youngest eligible tribute from an unknown family whose name is only in the bowl once, not take out any tesserae - but it still won't save you.

Instead of giving raises or allowing vacations, Vincent decides to personally treat his employees on new year's eve.
The other cooks: (Why is that guy getting the biggest loaf…😒duh)
& Vince getting stomachache from skipping meals, so the food duo broke into his apartment to the rescue🤗
