Lucien, Elain, Jurian, & Vassa

I think people forget this line when it comes to shipping Lucien and Vassa together:

“I asked Lucien to escort me, and he’d been more than happy to do so, given that his own status as a mated male made him uninterested in any sort of female company these days.”

And Lucien also said this when talking with Ianthe:

“I’m a mated male now.”

Those happened in ACOWAR BTW.

Also, in ACOSF, Cassian notes this about Lucien when he gives Elain her Solstice gift from him:

Cassian’s heart strained at the pain etching deep into Lucien’s face as he tried to hide his disappointment and longing.

And that was after he said this to Nesta when she asked about Jurian and Vassa:

“At each other’s throats, as they like to be,” he said, a tad sharply. <---- and this 'being at each other's throats' is a typical thing Sarah does for couples who will more than likely end up together.

Those things happened after the halfway point in ACOSF, and we know Elain rejected Azriel's gift he gave her later that night after their encounter which signals an ending between anything that was previously brewing between them (not that there was much anyways since Azriel himself said it was all lingering stares and brief fingertip touched and he'd been keeping away deliberately).

We also know Elain has appeared to keep the gifts Lucien has gotten her. One gift that was a pair of enchanted gloves that was a well thought out and suitable gift for his mate who loves to garden. Which means she's still open to him, despite appearing uncomfortable around him because that can always change and she can grow new feelings for Lucien.

So it's safe to assume that it will be Jurian and Vassa, not Lucien and Vassa, and Elain and Lucien endgame pairings given the evidence from ACOWAR and ACOSF.

It’s VassIAN, not VassIEN: The Correct SJM Ship

I’ve seen the argument that Vassa and Lucien (VassIEN) will end up together and it makes no sense from an SJM standpoint. Not when Vassa and Jurian (Vassian) are right there!!

1. I present to you, honorable citizens, the evidence as told by text and SJM herself:

Exhibit A. Vassa was able to see through Jurian immediately (Chapter 54 of ACOWAR)

From Feyre with Rhysand; Cassian with Nesta; Rowan with Aelin, SJM notoriously writes about how her endgame couples are able to see through one another clearly. And Jurian has a history of being unreadable and even his best friend of years, Mor, wasn’t able to see through him, but this mortal queen he just met can? Seems more than a coin-winky-dink to me

Exhibit B. They are at each others throats just as SJM likes to write for many other endgame couples.

As you can see here, SJM loves writing couples (top images is from bottom left image is from Chapter 17 of ACOWAR) who are constantly at each others throats in a good way. She even admits so in this interview and her Facebook comment back in 2016 but the specific quote is “As soon as Nesta sat down at the table with Cassian, it was DONE for both of them—I literally could not keep them from each others throats (in the best way possible)”

Exhibit C. The banter is classic SJM endgame material.

The teasing and tension is screaming from the page. SJM says that banter is a clue for her endgame couples. What more do we need?

Exhibit D. They are two people working together to build the same vision for the future of their kingdom and people and honestly the same reactions to things

To mortals who are already working well together to build their kingdom in a good balance and have shown that they have endgame potential? Yeah it just makes sense

Exhibit E. Unreadable faces making pretty damning cases.

Across the maasiverse, people have unreadable faces when they are trying to mask emotions, I.e. Rhys all of ACOMAF and Nesta in ACOWAR—ACOSF. So what is Jurian hiding? Given everything else, one could safely bet his true feelings for the Firebird Mortal Queen.

After reading CC3 I’ve been doing a re-read of the ACOTAR series with a focus on character study of the side characters and the more I pay attention to them the more I’m growing to love them.

In my Gwynriel x Elucien x Vassian era and you can’t change my mind. Riots will be had if this is not how SJM takes on their stories lol

Ok so Elriels want Jurian to die now? Great great. They want Lucien to get rejected by his mate and then lose one of his best friends. Some romance. We'll be too busy crying in despair for Lucien to focus on the romance. PLUS Vassa is still human as far as we know, so she'll die soon. Triple tragedy for Lucien. Super romantic. Also what do you MEAN Jurian is not love interest worthy???? He's a freedom fighter???? He rizzed one of the High Fae to save his cause???? He outsmarted Hybern twice???? He's Lucien's bestie??? Honestly where is the vassian community?? Where are the pro-Luciens that want him to be TRULY happy (I.e. not with a mate who cannot stand him but rather with someone who will give him the love he deserves??)

Eluciens and Gwynriels have formed this sort of alliance (since neither cares about Elain’s happiness), as Azriel being with Gwyn would leave Elain free for Lucien (*snort*), and Elain being with Lucien (officially) would put an end to Azriel & Elain. (Note how I didn’t say it would leave Azriel free for Gwyn bc THERE HAS BEEN NO HINT THAT GWYN EVEN WANTS THIS MAN??)

If the elriel ship were built as poorly as theirs it would make so much sense to full-send rile up the Vassians and get them on board.

And while we’re at it, find some random ass character to ship with Gwyn (Balthazar, that two-page-mention Illyrian dude seems fit for her based on … absolutely nothing… which is basically what gwynriel ship was built with so that will work for them!!) though let’s be honest she’s not even an MC so why even bother setting her up with someone?

Elucien as a ship I can understand, if people are desperate to cling to the “they’re mates” thing. That I will accept and agree with.

Gwynriel has NOTHING? Where did this ship even come from?? I’m literally about to start a full fledged Gwyn-Balthazar ship train (how do we feel about Gwynbalth Paltrow?? Balthazara? Well Balthazar is ALMOST exactly like Berdera so omg it’s MEANT TO BE!!

Also Balthazar also is Illyrian so Gwyn can have his babies with her extra super pliant bones?? ANOTHER CLUE?? Sarah… you ain’t slick girl we’re onto you!!

Vassien never took off, because Elucien is a lot more loud and with Vassien it's less about Lucien, and more about the two of them, so that automatically doesn't deserve as much attention in this fandom. Furthermore, it doesn't stop Elriel from happening, so Gwynriels are not going to be into it at all.

Gwynriel is an offshoot of the Emeriel ship which existed after Emerie was introduced in ACOFAS. Once it because fairly clear that Emerie is probably into women, Gwyn replaced her in the pantheon of Azriel related ships.

Ultimately, Gwyn is just as replaceable as anyone, because the ship isnt about her, but about Azriel. And how his fans can self-insert and I dunno...marry him? Something like that.

Eluciens will become Vassiens in the end, especially if their precious Lucien doesn't go crazy and will turn Vassa somehow immortal.
