As the hydra's heads continue to devour the seaside cattle, a hidden triton warrior raises her bow. A quick whistle echoes across the water, and ten sets of eyes look her way. A flurry of arrows with the cold of the depths sink themselves deep into each of those ten heads, and the Wavestrider swims back to her underwater home.
I have always felt that a ocean or water-themed Ranger is loss since overdue. I hope this scratches that itch for folks who feel the same! I focused on motion and distance, which seems fitting and also something else that is missing from the current roster. The Homebrewery PDF that would be updated if there are any changes is here, and then the PDF of the above image can be found here! Enjoy!

Subclasseptember 2023, Day 21 - Spiritcaller Ranger
No its not a zanpakuto, stop laughing!
This one's another simple one, a Ranger with a fun bit of Spellblade flavour. The idea of the weapon having a spirit was wholeheartedly yoinked from Bleach and the Stormlight Archive.
The actual subclass itself is pretty simple, most of what you can do here doesn't really have many hard-baked limits aside from spell slots.
Not a huge amount to say on this one, was a lot of fun; not 100% sure on the pseudo-Spellstrike at the end, but I was scraping for high-level ideas.

I'M ALIVE
About time I post something D&D related, for those who still follow me. And ohboy do I got something juicy for you.
After 2 months of work, I'm proud to present, the Hemonomicon!
Tumblr media
It was meant to be released by halloween, but it got delayed 😅
A huge expansion to blood magic, fist introduced by MAtt Mercer's Blood Hunter, and expanded here
It includes a lot of stuff! And its all for just 5 dollars! You can get it on DMsGuild or by joining my patreon on the 5+ dollar tier, whatever you prefer.
The Blood Mage class, which I already showed here, but fixed a few things since then, and you can also check out the 2 hemotypes locked behind my patreon by buying this. Also it has better pics and formatting now.
2 new races, The Svinos, a monstrous race of pigmen, and the Redcaps, who can give up their murderous tendencies in order to become members of society.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8 new subclasses, 4 of which are for the Blood Hunter, here are 2 of them, the Path of Osteomancy for Barbarian, and the Order of the Holiest for the Blood Hunter!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that's not all! It includes 2 subraces: The Brudarum Elf (because an elf race is obviously mandatory) and the Hemogoblin. On top of dozens of spells, feats, magic items, and even blood curses.
I hope you like it, it was a lot of work.

Sometimes you just want to be a ranger that drowns people. I'm pleased to announce that this is, in fact, a ranger that drowns people. I'm glad we had this exchange of information. Image ID under the cut!
The Conclave of the Seafarer
Masters of the Ocean's waves, rangers in the Conclave of the Seafarer are navigators beyond compare. Few ships that sail into unknown waters are willing to do so without one of these rangers at their side.
At 3rd level you gain: Seafarer Magic, One with the Waves, Reach of the Depths At 7th level you gain: Undertow At 11th level you gain: Tidal Fury At 14th level you gain: Tsunami
Starting at 3rd level you learn additional spells according to the Conclave of the Seafarer table. This counts as a ranger spell for you and doesn't count against your total spells known.
At 3rd level you learn Thunderous Smite At 7th level you learn Misty Step At 11th level you learn Call Lightning At 15th level you learn Control Water
One with the Waves
Starting at 3rd level, you gain a swim speed equal to your movement speed, and the ability to breathe underwater. Furthermore, when in the water you gain blindsense up to 10ft.
Reach of the Depths
At 3rd level, you gain the ability to teleport up to 60ft as a bonus action from one source of water to another that you can see, as long as there's enough surface area for you to stand on in either case. You can use this ability a number of times per long rest equal to your proficiency bonus.
Undertow
Starting at the 7th level, when you hit a target with an attack, you can choose to surround their heads with an orb of conjured water. If they need to breathe, they begin to drown. Once a creature is trapped in the Undertow, you can use your bonus action to deal 1d8 cold damage to them each turn for one minute.
Only one creature may be caught in your Undertow at a time.
Tidal Fury
Starting at the 11th level, you enhance your weapon attacks with the fury of the tides. When a creature is trapped in your Undertow, you have advantage on attacks against them.
Tsunami
Starting at the 15th level, you bring down the wrath of the sea on your enemies. You can now hold a number of creatures in your Undertow equal to your spellcasting modifier.

Ranger conclave of the storm tamer, they do be doing water things. They're like coastguards if coastguards could wrestle colossal squids.

Homebrew Ranger Subclass: Stormborn
Because the phrase ‘walk the gale’ stuck with me from Terry Pratchett’s Tiffany Aching series. I love that image, the guardian walking the storm to protect their people, maybe taking on characteristics of the storm in the process. The windswept warrior on the moors and the steppes and the mountains. It fits so well for a ranger.
RANGER ARCHETYPE: STORMBORN
In the high mountains and vast open areas of the world, where the winds howl and great storms boil across the land, stories tell of wild men and women who walk the gale to protect their communities. Warriors who wander under the open sky, and welcome the spirits of air and lightning into their souls and their flesh. These are the stormborn rangers, with souls of wind and talons of lightning to strike their foes.
STORMBORN MAGIC
You learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Stormborn Spells table. Each spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of ranger spells you know.
Stormborn Spells
Ranger Level      Spell
3rd                        Feather Fall
5th                        Warding Wind
9th                        Thunderstep
13th                      Find Greater Steed
17th                      Steel Wind Strike
FLEET OF FOOT
When you embrace this archetype at 3rd level, the spirits of air and wind speed your steps in the face of your foes. Your walking speed increases by 5ft, and you can take the Dash or Disengage action as a bonus action on each of your turns.
CHILD OF THE STORM
Starting at 7th level, the roiling energies of the storm suffuse your being. You gain resistance to lightning and thunder damage. In addition, once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause the attack to deal an extra 1d6 thunder or lightning damage to the target. This damage increases to 1d8 when you reach 11th level in this class.
STEP OF THE GALE
At 11th level, your embodiment of the storm enables you to fly. As a bonus action, you call the winds to your aid, and gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed for 10 minutes.
You can use this bonus action a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses upon finishing a long rest.
SPIRIT OF AIR AND VENGEANCE
Beginning at 15th level, you have internalised the storm to such an extent that you can fully become it if driven to do so. As a reaction when you are hit with an attack, you can allow yourself to become a swirling, furious mass of wind and lightning, a spirit of air and vengeance. The damage you take is halved, and your attacker takes lightning damage equal to half the damage dealt, as you vengefully hurl a bolt of retributive lightning at them. You can then teleport to an unoccupied space up to 15ft away before regaining your normal form.
You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Volume 4 of Journals of Curious Voyagers contains the Almogávar conclave for the ranger. An ambush-focused, hard-hitting option, the Almogávar is a strong ally in times of war. Find the Almogávar on DMsGuild here, and the rest of Everdawn Library’s offerings here.

Along time ago I made a bunch of greek-inspired subclasses, one of which was the Orion's Bow subclass for ranger. It was one I particularly enjoyed and decided to redo it. Hope you enjoy!

Subclasseptember Day 29: Wild
The Deadeye Conclave - Homebrew Ranger Subclass
For something that's treated as Ranger's equivalent of Divine Smite, Hunter's Mark really doesn't get treated like Ranger's Divine Smite. There's Banishing Smite, Searing Smite, Blinding Smite... Why no Hunter's Mark variants?
We'll have to put that project on the shelf for now. Until then, here's this.
We're almost done with Subclasseptember. Let's finish strong!
Playing around with image formatting around text. You'd think there'd be a better way than manually adjusting every single line, but I haven't heard of it.
... Hey, what happened to Aloy's arrow? Are arrows usually headless?

Subclasseptember 2023, Day 2 - The Howling Ranger
So for Day 2 the prompt was "primal". Initially my brain went towards having some kind of Barbarian-adjacent subclass, mixed with a fun little bit of werewolf for the monsterfuckers among you.
Core of the subclass is the Lycan Transformation, a kind of pseudo-rage in the vein of the Blood Hunter's Lycan form. I thought giving it some spicy natural weapons would be fun.
The Level 11 feature was basically there to fill space, but I'm happy with how it came out as either a buff or debuff.
The final feature is a bit of a diet Zealot Barbarian, in that they can essentially fight after death. But its on the whole a bit weaker, with a much greater risk of death actually happening.

Dungeons and Dads! It’s time for Aragorn. I mean ranger. For this, you got a dad who likes hunting and camping.
Beast Master? Your dad hunts with his dog.
Drakewarden? Dragons are cool and your dad agrees and likes how they hunt.
Fey Wanderer? Your dad is weird. Really weird.
Gloom Stalker? Skyrim Stealth Archer. All the way.
Horizon Walker? Your dad is hunting aliens.
Hunter? Yeah. Yeah, your dad hunts.
Monster Slayer? Your dad’s had enough of these newfangled beasts popping up and decided to bring a shotgun to kill a beholder.
Swarmkeeper? Beekeeper dad.
