also, this is probably a stupid complaint, but i hate that spop pushes the idea of “cats are mean and aggressive, it's in their nature”.

as someone who has raised a LOT of cats in their lifetime, i need y'all to understand that cats aren't inherently mean. they value their boundaries (like any human being. shocker!) but once you gain their trust, they are some of the most compassionate and empathetic creatures you can come across.

As a man, having a partner that loves you for YOU is so important, because often times men equate them being needed for emotional/monetary support as love and that’s far from love. Men need to seek out partners who don’t just want them for money or sex, men need to be loved and cherished and adored and valued as a lover. There’s more to love in a relationship for men than how deep their pockets are, or how well they spoil/pamper their women, or how satisfying they make sex for their partners. Men need to want more out of love, I feel like that’s the problem most men have.

genuine question, how do you feel about the timeless child concept as, like, a long term writing decision? (i think it was fun in concept at the time of watching, but the more i think on it, the less i feel like i like it as a longstanding writing decision? if that makes sense :[ regardless, i'm more curious on how others into the series feel on it)

my opinion on TTC changed wildly from start to finish. i was super excited at first because i thought it would take the show in a brand new direction, away from Gallifrey and towards the Doctor's mysterious new origins, but it actually did the opposite. we never got answers - just lots of vague drama about Gallifrey. woohoo. 🎉

it feels like RTD is about to steamroll all of that lore as well, and to be honest, i think he should. imo, it was a failed attempt to bring new mystery to an old character, and it sent everyone on a pointless wild goose chase.

i was excited for a story arc to finally GO somewhere (*cough* name of the doctor, the hybrid *cough*), but alas... yet another dead end. why does every recent addition to the doctor's character feel hopelessly inconsequential??? i think TTC was a bad writing choice because it had nothing to say, and thus predictably went nowhere.

(i get it: this is a show about change and nebulous time travel shenanigans, and the doctor has many simultaneous timelines, so nothing can be set in stone - but i'm getting a bit tired of chasing geese set loose by mediocre showrunners.)

look I get the hype behind dsmp and all but the fact that out of the most kudos’ed hermitcraft fics on AO3, 15 out of the top 20 are Tommyinnit-centric/insert fics is probably the most annoying thing I’ve had to deal with in a fandom.

I really hate how major forms of communication wind up becoming overridden with scams and advertisements. Like it was all the scam phone calls to start, and now most people including myself we won’t even dare to pick up for numbers we don’t recognize. Then emails! Nope, corporations need to send us like 20 advertisements a day even if you opt out of them they still find some sort of way to get through. Heck there’s been times where I’ve BLOCKED emails and adverts from them still wind up in my inbox. How about texts? It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even open that app most the time because I’m just absolutely bombarded with bank scam texts and again more advertisements I didn’t sign up for. I’ve missed texts from friends because the were buried in the sea of scam texts. Even on messaging apps and social media like 99% of the time the messages are from bots trying to steal your info. I needed to rant about this, it literally kills me. I want to communicate with people I know and care about but the things that are supposed to help with that are overridden by advertisements and scams

Today, Romano showed up to America's Halloween party dressed in one of his old military uniforms from the late risorgimento period. He had, of course, been in Rome until it was finally captured in 1870.

Romano's outfit definitely turned the heads of some of the other countries that had fought in this war including France, Austria, and Prussia, but Italy definitely noticed the outfit as well. Fortunately, enough time (and other wars) had passed since the risorgimento that wounds had healed between the nations and no new fights broke out. It helped that Romano was the losing party and the one to bring up the topic.

The worst part of the party was that one too many nations had a bit too much to drink and a small fight broke out about who had the best costume.

It doesn't matter how much you post about transgression and being proud to be weird and queer as in fuck you and going against society's expected behaviours if you then turn around to ridicule and infantilize the people who diverge in other ways that aren't the same ones as yours or the couple more that internet discourse has made you care about.

I'm saying this because of a poll going around in my dash (won't link because it's not a matter of these people in particular, it's much more widespread) asking people if they've taken a certain drug and people commenting different variations of 'why has this poll only reached children' or not believing the results when they see that most of the voters say no. I assure you most people (specially young people) who don't like the things that are expected of them like going out on clubs and drinking alcohol and doing some of the popular drugs of their subculture are already getting enough shit for it and don't need any more people trying to shame them into following the majority or telling them they're children for doing what they choose and not what others think is the Correct and Appropriate Hobby for this age group/demographic.

I never see this term in English-speaking internet but Latin American activism often talks of the 'right to the free development of personality'. Maybe it needs to go viral before many people really take it into account and get rid of the ideas that their hobbies, their interests and their way of living are the only correct ones and everyone else has something wrong with them or hasn't grown up, because clearly you can't be a healthy adult and not be just like them. There are always going to be people who like different things on Earth, and we can only get used to it.

nothing against these women but there are A LOT of white women in the nutritional space and almost all of them do not talk about the importance of spices, herbs, recipes that non-eurocentric cultures use in their cooking and how wellness and even survival is so closely attached to these cultures through cooking (also how colonialism has affected these cultures). i advocate for more nutritionists taking up space yes bc it’s a new field that is more or less important nowadays in accordance to health + sustainability, but i really really wish there were more people of color, more people who understood food deserts and advocated for food equality rather than just a fun trader’s joe haul to make the same three salmon, overnight oat, salad recipes. there is more to nutrition beyond one individual’s singular environment and that limits the nutritional space greatly. no one wants to go beyond what they know— that’s where it gets messy and scary but advice buried in the surface and not rooted in actual knowledge and wellness seems… not authentic or valuable to me.

and while i understand some can only educate with what they know and how they live, it really takes effort to be transparent and show that you are listening and open to learning and understanding nutrition beyond your life. it’s vital that something in the nutritional space needs to change if we want nutrition to actually be a conversation that is respected.

this also is a notion for understanding and/or questioning why more people of color aren’t in the nutritional space. what’s stopping non-eurocentric individuals from entering this space ourselves? i personally want to get better at it and make sure i’m more vocal when i can be, but it’s also a pondering of— let’s take up more space here and bring value and impact here.

we can look at it as: the conversation has now started and it is admirable the space has been carved for conversation, but it’s time to dig deeper and further and i have the resources (and if not, i am willing to learn) to do so.

Seriously losing all faith at this point. How am I supposed to overcome anxiety and fear of abandonment when everyone I try to form a love connection with either changes how they treat me once they have me, or just ghost me all together. It doesn’t even matter how young, old, experienced, or inexperienced. I’ve had too many first dates to count and I’m getting so tired of making myself vulnerable only to be let down again and again every time. Then my brain goes into overdrive wondering if it’s something I did, if I’m just so undesirable to them and they just don’t have the heart to tell me, or don’t want to hurt my feelings. On top of that, being submissive by nature and shy makes communicating my feelings so scary. I just want to make them happy and be good, but I remember if they truly cared, they would want me to be happy in the relationship too and to know how I feel so we can reach a better understanding of each other. So I conquer my fear every time, only to have it confirmed when they become short with me after or simply ignore me. I try to word my feelings so carefully, as to try and make them understand that I don’t think they are intentionally trying to hurt me, but what hurts the most is not even being acknowledged.
