South Indian Rava idli Dish
Rava Idli is a popular dish of South Indian cuisine, which represents a modern twist on the traditional idli. It uses semolina (rava), which is mixed with yogurt and vegetables in the idli batter. This idli is prepared in steam and is typically served with coconut chutney or sambar. The texture of Rava Idli is soft and its preparation time is also less as compared to traditional Idli.

Rava Appe
“Instant Rava Appe“ Rava paniyaram is a South Indian breakfast that is easy to assemble and quick to make. My take on this non-fried breakfast option is very simple and uses only a few ingredients at hand. I am using readymade MTR rava idli mix, but feel free to use roasted rava if you want. Ingredients: 1 cup MTR rava idli mix 2 tbsp chickpea flour/besan 1 and 1/2 cups curd 2 tbsp…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~💋~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Taking care of Kendall Roy’s kids was something that you had been doing for five months now. You had been a nanny and been a babysitter ever since high school and you were now in your twenties and still did it as a side job to earn more cash on the side. Your main job had you working from home, so that made the whole babysitting schedule easier for you. Kendall’s ex wife, Rava, was actually the one who hired you in the first place. She had connected with you on Facebook and that’s how the whole thing started. You would have Sophie and Iverson over at your house about three times a week. Rava always apologised for making you have them over all the time for long hours, she mentioned that Kendall said he “never had time”. You always told her that you didn’t mind as they would keep you company. Sometimes you would pick them up after school and take them straight to your place or if it were a weekend, Rava would drop them off before going to work.
Sophie and Iverson loved coming over to your house, they loved that you had a bigger outdoor pool than Rava. You had also bought a ton of inflatables for them so they loved that part too. You would always gift them things even though their dad could buy them anything they wanted.
Rava invited you to a party that Kendall had invited her and the kids to, it was a get together for some Waystar thing. Rava invited you along as a thank you for all that you did for her and her kids. At first, you weren’t sure if you wanted to attend since it sounded more like a family related thing, but she insisted that you come, telling you that it was a huge get together and more than just family would be there. After thinking and thinking, you decided that you would say yes to the invitation and attend the big get together.
As soon as you arrive, Sophie and Iverson find you through the crowd and give you a hug. “You’re here!” Sophie says as she hugs you,
“I’m here.” When the hug ends, you look down at the both of them, “Look at you two, how well dressed you are. Your dress is very pretty Sophie, and Iverson, you look like a gentleman in that suit of yours.”
They smile up at you then Sophie takes your hand and begins to lead you through the crowd, “I want to show you the snack table, they have cupcakes.” You follow the two kids over to the snack table. Even though you aren’t very hungry, you decide to eat a cupcake for Sophie as she seems really excited to show you them.
The cupcakes are very fancy, they have icing that swirls up, making a perfect, small mountain made of vanilla icing. The three of you take one off the table and take a bite. When you bite into it, the icing sticks to you, just above your upper lip and the tip of your nose. They both giggle as they see the icing on your face and you smile. Before you could wipe it off, you feel a presence come to stand right behind you, “Into the snacks already, are we?” A deep voice says.
You turn and face Kendall Roy for the first time. When you turn, his eyes immediately fall on yours then down at the icing on your lips and nose and it makes a small smile appear on his lips, “You must be the famous nanny Rava was talking about.”
“Yes, hi.” You put down the half eaten cupcake on the table then grab a napkin to wipe off the icing. Your cheeks fluster out of embarrassment, this is not how you wanted to meet Kendall Roy. You wanted to meet him in a proper manner, not while you had sugary frosting on your face, “Sorry.” You say and let out an awkward, embarrassed chuckle.
“That’s okay, that actually makes it more tempting for me to try a cupcake. I haven’t eaten one of those things in a while.” His gaze goes back to Sophie and Iverson, “Are they worth trying?”
“Yes, try one, try one!” Sophie says. Iverson just smiles at his excited sister then looks back to his dad.
“How about I steal both of yours.” Kendall jokes.
“No.” Both of the kids giggle a little. When Kendall reaches his arm out and jokingly tries to take their cupcakes, they only laugh and run away, leaving the two of you alone.
“They really like you, you know? They’ve told me lots about you.” he says, “It’s nice to finally meet you.”
“It’s nice to meet you too, Kendall.” You can’t help but eye his suit, it’s all black and he is wearing a white button-up under the jacket. His shoes are black and very shiny, he wore a watch too. He just looks so clean and well-presented, but of course he does, Kendall Roy is a very rich man.
“Do you like the outfit?” He asks, noticing that your eyes are looking down.
You look up and make eye contact with him, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to pry.”
“No, that’s okay, I don’t mind. Pry away.” He replies.
You smile at him, “I know you weren’t the one to invite me, but thanks for letting me be here.”
“Of course, I’m glad you could be here. I think it really made the kids happy.” After he replies. He chuckles a little, “Hey, do they uh, do they tell you about me at all?
“Sometimes they mention you, yes. Why?”
“Nothing bad I hope?”
“No, nothing bad.”
“Okay, good. I guess I just didn’t want you to think I’m some prick who doesn’t care about his kids. I do care about them and I do love them.”
You laugh a little, “Kendall, I don’t think you are a prick. Sophie and Iverson have never called you one, I don’t even think they know what that word is or means.”
He smiles, “No, I know, I just thought that maybe Rava had made it sound like I don’t take good care of them.”
“You are just busy, I get it.”
This makes his smile grow, “I’m glad you understand. I’m not a bad guy here. I’m good, I’m a good guy.” The two of you just smile at each other for a moment, you feel this weird tension rise. He takes a deep breath in, “Well, it was very nice meeting you, I think I’ll go for a drink now.”
“Yeah, okay, nice to meet you Kendall.”
“Maybe I’ll talk to you later?”
“Yeah, sure. See you later, go enjoy your drink.”
He turns halfway around but then stops and looks at you again, “Hey, would you like to get a drink with me actually?”
Butterflies fill your stomach, “Oh, I don’t know, I don’t actually drink.”
“No? How come?”
You shrug, “I don’t know, it’s just never really been of interest to me.”
“You don’t even want to try just one?” He is really making it hard for you to say no, you don’t know why, maybe it’s his charm, maybe it is the way he makes you feel, making all the butterflies arise in your stomach. He sees that you are thinking about it and grins, “Come on, just one.”
“Alright, just one.” Leaving your half-eaten, forgotten cupcake on the table, you follow him to the bar area.
“What would you like? It’s on me.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, of course. What do you want?”
You feel a little embarrassed again, you didn’t know many drinks, “I don’t really know.”
“Do you like the sweet drinks, or do you want to taste the alcohol?”
“Maybe the sweet ones.” He leads you over to the counter and when the bartender greets you both, Kendall speaks for you, “I’ll take a sex on the beach cocktail, two of those.”
You had never heard of the drink before, the name of it made you smile a little, “Sex on the beach? That’s what the cocktail is called?”
He grins again, “Yeah, they’ve got some fancy names. I don’t think it actually tastes like sex on the beach, though I could be wrong, I can’t say I’ve ever fucked on a beach.” You don’t even mean to, but you bit your lip a little when he says it,
“I haven’t either.” You say but then regret it.
“I feel like it would be too sandy, you know? There’d be the scent of salt and seaweed, you’d get sand all stuck to you, there’s crabs and all kinds of sharp shells. I don’t know, it just doesn’t sound very enjoyable, but I guess I’d still be down to try it sometime.”
The drinks arrive in front of you and they are a very pretty orange colour and have a cherry sitting on top of the ice cubes. “Thank you.” You say to Kendall.
“Of course. Let me know what you think.”
You take the thin straw and put it between your lips and begin to sip the pretty drink. It’s sweet but also a little tardy. There is a peachy flavour to it.You remove your lips from the straw and look up at him, “Peachy.” You say.
Your reply makes him laugh a little, “Does that mean you like it?”
“Yeah, it’s better than the other drinks I’ve had. I don’t think I’ve ever had one like this.”
“Really? Fuck, you must not go out at all then. You don’t go out to the bars?”
You shake your head, “No.”
“You’re a good girl then.” You immediately blush at his name calling, “But I think it would be fun for you to go out more. There are more drinks like this.”
“Well all of my friends are like me, they don’t go out to bars either. If I did want to go out, I think I’d have to find someone who is willing to go. I don’t want to go alone, I don’t want to get kidnapped or poisoned.
This gives him the perfect opportunity to latch onto you, “I could go with you sometime.”
“Really?”
He gives you this sort of flirtatious look, “Uh huh, I could show you everything you’re missing.”
You look away from him and down at your drink, “Okay well, I’ll have to think about it.”
“Alright well you think hard, okay?”
“Okay, Kendall.”
Soon, the little moment between the two of you is interrupted by one of Kendall’s coworkers. He steals Kendall away from you. Kendall looks very disappointed to leave you, “I’m so sorry about this.” He gives you cash to pay for the drinks, “I have to deal with something, I hope to speak again.”
You are also disappointed at the fact that your little moment was interrupted, but you smile softly towards Kendall, “Okay, see you.”
“See you.” He says. You watch him as he walks off with his coworker and that is the last time you see him for the rest of the night. For the rest of the night, you spend most of your time with Sophie and Iverson, talking with them and dancing with them. All this time spent with them, you keep looking up every once in a while, looking for Kendall but he is nowhere to be seen. You realize that you don’t even have his number in your phone, you only have Rava’s. You obviously are not going to ask Rava for Kendall’s number, that would be a very bad idea. Maybe you can somehow get it through Sophie or Iverson. You would find a way on how to contact Kendall again, you needed to.
The party was a week ago, you still don’t have Kendall’s number in your phone. It is February now, the tenth to be exact. You have the kids over for the evening and you decide that it would be a fun idea for them to make little Valentine's Day crafts to give to their friends, classmates, and Rava and Kendall.
You help them make cards, cutting out red and pink paper and shaping them into hearts. You then give them the idea to write notes on each card then tape it to a cherry lollipop that was shaped as a heart. These cards would be for their classmates and friends.
“How about you make a special card for your mom and dad?” You suggest.
“Yeah, let’s do that.” Iverson says, “But, how do we make it special? I don’t think they like lollipops.”
You think for a moment, “How about you make them each a bigger card and write something sweet for them. Maybe something you like about them, and then maybe draw a little picture for them.”
“A picture, I like that idea. I am going to make mom a pink card and dad a red card.” Sophie says. When both of the kids begin to make their cards, an idea pops into your head to,
“Maybe I’ll gift them something too, everyone deserves a gift on Valentine’s Day.”
“What will you give them?” Asks Iverson.
“I did bake some cherry tarts the other day. Maybe I’ll give them one each.” You smile and stand up from the table. You take two cherry tarts out and put both in a small separate container. When the kids are busy with their cars and not watching you, you take a small sticky note and write you number down on it, place it at the bottom of the container, then set the tart over it.
“Do you know when you two will see your dad next?” You ask.
“Yes, we are going to grandpa’s tomorrow for supper, he will be there too.”
You walk over to them again, “Perfect. These are for your mom and dad. Your mom gets the clear container and your dad gets the blue container, do you think you can remember that for me?”
“Sophie nods, “Yes, I’ll remember, Clear is for mom, blue is for dad.” She pauses for a moment, “Why is the blue for dad?”
You try and think of a lie quickly, “He told me he likes the colour blue.” It wasn’t a very good lie, but they were kids, so they believed it. “Since we are on the topic of gifts, I have something for you. Stay right here.” You make your way to your bedroom then pull out the two teddy bears you bought for them.
You hide them behind your back and when you reveal them, they both get excited and take the teddies in their little hands. When they thank you, that’s when a knock on the door is heard, Rava is there to pick them up.
You help them hide all their cards in their backpacks, then you hand them each a container, “Remember, blue is for dad, clear is for mom.”
“Yes, we will remember.”
In your head, you pray that they remember. You don’t even know how you would explain it to Rava if she were the one to find the number hidden under the tart. It is a risk to do such a thing, but you want Kendall in your phone, you want to go to that bar with him because all week he has been in your mind.
- Part Two gets more interesting hehe. I haven’t written a short drabble in a while so I apologize if this is messy. Requests are open🥰
For the Pani (Spiced Water):
1 cup sparkling mint leaves
half cup clean coriander (cilantro) leaves
2-3 green chilies (adjust to flavor)
1-inch piece of ginger, peeled
1 small lemon (juice)
1 tablespoon tamarind paste
1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
1 teaspoon chaat masala
1/2 teaspoon black salt
Salt to flavor
2-3 cups chilled water
For the Filling:
2 medium-sized boiled potatoes, mashed
1 cup cooked chickpeas (boiled)
Tamarind chutney
Green chutney (non-obligatory)
Chaat masala (elective)
Instructions:
Puri Preparation:
Make the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine the semolina, all-motive flour, baking soda, and a pinch of salt. Gradually upload water and knead the combination right into a stiff dough. Cover it with a humid fabric and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes.
Shape and Fry:
Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into small circles (puris) with the usage of a rolling pin. Aim for a round three cm in diameter. Heat oil in a deep-frying pan. Once warm, fry the puris in batches until they sing their praises and flip golden brown. Remove and place them on paper towels to empty excess oil.
Pani Preparation:
Prepare the Spice Paste:
Blend mint leaves, coriander leaves, inexperienced chilies, and ginger into a nice paste with the usage of a blender or food processor.
Make the Pani:
In a huge mixing bowl, integrate the mint-coriander paste, tamarind paste, lemon juice, roasted cumin powder, chaat masala, black salt, normal salt, and chilled water. Mix nicely and regulate the seasoning in step with taste. Keep it refrigerated until serving.
Assembling:
Prepare the Fillings:
Mix mashed potatoes and boiled chickpeas. Add a pinch of chaat masala for added taste if favored. Create a small hollow in the center of every puri and fill it with the potato-chickpea mixture.
Serve:
Arrange the stuffed puris on a serving plate. Just before serving, pour the prepared chilled highly spiced water (pani) into each puri using a small spoon or a funnel. Enjoy:
Serve the PaniPuris right away and savor the burst of flavors.
Tips:
Adjust the spice tiers within the pani in step with your preference. Ensure the puris are rolled flippantly to make sure they self-praise well while frying. You can adjust the filling elements based totally on non-public flavor. Making Pani Puri at domestic lets you personalize the flavors and experience this cherished avenue food snack proper to your kitchen!
FFXIV Write, Day 28 - Blunt
Minti does a drug. Ryssthota observes - for science.
CW: Drugs, Hallucinations, Mental Health.
Logbook:
Documentation of the inhalation of one (1) crushed Morbol root, using "rolling papers" provided by the subject.
Intent: Determine if Blue Mage crystal ownership, combined with inhalation of root from a wild morbol root, will grant the inhaler the ability "Bad Breath."
Hypothesis: Morbol root inhalation will not produce new magical abilities in test subject. A hostile encounter is required for absorbing the morbol's aether.
Background: The Encyclopedia Eorzea tells us that "The morbol is a terrible beast that moves upon its slime-covered vines and roots. Highly aggressive, it kills both animals and plants with a combination of its noxious breath and ceaselessly flailing tendrils." (Manne 279) Of importance today is the "sweet-smelling gas" the seedkin produces, which Manne, in her Eorzea Geographic article "Morbol Physiology" (1565) says induces sleep by inhalation.
Blue Mages are spellcasters of infamous reputation, recently introduced to Eorzea and her sister nations by the supposed Mage "Martyn." Observers report that wielders of this magic, found outside the opposites of black and white magic, draw on aether from wild creatures. This enables them to, say, cast Shiva's icy bow attack, or dash forward as aggressively as Ifrit. The practice has become so popular that Ul'dah has opened a Masked Carnivale, a series of challenges for anyone interested in solving puzzling battle scenarios.
Test Subject: Our test subject for today is one Miss Minti Chocolate, a rava viera employed by Gage Acquisitions. She reports to be a semi-accomplished blue mage. "Something to do when I get beast tribe jobs," she told me before the experiment.
Method: Miss Chocolate will be seated in a colorful environment (the basement of Gage Acquisition's headquarters), given a "blunt" seasoned with crushed morbol root, and observed for five hours. Snacks and enrichment through a live aquarium will be provided as requested by the test subject.
-----
Hour One: Subject has fully inhaled the morbol root sample. Early reactions include repeated coughing; feelings of elation; lightheadedness; and repeated staring into the observer's eyes.
Subject comments: "You are so nice. I like your hair. Why is your hair short? It is moving back and forth. *sings* 'Back- and forth. Back- and forth. Our love goooooes-"
Hour 2: Coughing has not stopped, although there is a pause of five minutes in between bouts. Subject is fixated on the live aquarium, and is attempting to feed the "fish with Thancred's face" some of the provided snacks, specifically the bowl of peanuts.
Subject comments: "Nuts. Nuts. Macadamia nuts. Pistachios. Why do nuts taste like nuts? Nuts are nutty nut nuts. NUTKIN! Thancred has a nutkin. NUTS." (Attempting to relay the subject's emphasis on certain words.)
Hour 3: Subject is attempting to show me what a grenade's Self Destruct looks like. Gently redirecting her by asking to see a physical copy of her blue mage spellbook.
Subject comments: "Did, did, did you know you can *Self Destruct* in Kugane, and and and a *white mage* can resurrect you on that lamppost, you don't even need to climb the Tower-"
Hour 4 1/2: Subject has abruptly passed out on the floor. Help from Nyx and Apple Silverberg requested, to raise subject from floor and move them to their private quarters.
Subject comments: Subject is currently incapable of producing speech.
Conclusions: Will have to wait until Miss Chocolate wakes up. I am feeling quite lightheaded myself, and fear that I will begin to see Thancred Waters' face everywhere I look. Not that I would mind, but.
(Miss Chocolate put me up to this. This is partly scientific intent, partly for our mutual amusement.)
HOW TO MAKE A CRISPY MASALA DOSA:
     Masala dosa is a South Indian dish. It was an easy and popular, tasty South Indian stable breakfast recipe made with rice and urad dal. Basically an extension of the traditional dosa recipe, where dosa is made crip and stuffed with potato masala. It is perhaps one of the famous dishes from south India, which can be served for morning breakfast or also as an evening snack with coconut chutney and sambar.
Tumblr media
THE STORY OF MASALA DOSA:
     Then are many stories around India, but according to the wiki, it originated from my hometown Udupi. It was here in Udupi, that the dosa’s were made crisp and served. One of the local restaurants in Udupi started to serve potato masala stuffed dosa as a variation and also to lower the coconut chutney consumption. In those days, coconut-based dishes were considered pricey and dosas cannot be consumed without any side dish. Gradually stuffed dosa became one of the norms and the migrant community took this variety to Mumbai and exposed it to a broader audience. It was very well received in the cosmopolitan city and that’s how it became one of the popular dose varieties.
THE SPECIAL OF MASALA DOSA:
Masala dosa are crispy, soft, savory, and healthy crepes made with rice and lentil batter. The dosa is gluten-free and dairy-free, with a sturdy yet soft texture that’s great for holding a hearty homemade potato filling. To make the batter, lentils and rice are soaked for several hours and then blended together.
WHY PEOPLE LIKE MASALA DOSA:
     Most people love masala dosa or its rich taste. Mixing each bite with spicy sambar soup and coconut chutney will give your day the kick-start it needs. The sambar and even the masala dosa have some of the major pure Indian spices, which will give it that wow factor you have been looking for in breakfast food. Masala Dosa is one that is crisp, aromatic, flavourful, and has a potato masala or spiced seasoned potatoes stuffed in it. These crispy crepes are quite addictive and delicious.
Masala dosa is a popular South Indian dish that originated in the state of Karnataka. The exact history of masala dosa is not clear, but it is believed to have originated in the town of Udupi. The dish was an instant hit and soon became a staple in South Indian cuisine.
THE SOUTH INDIAN FOODS
The South Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka each have their own variants of common dishes as well as regional specialties. For an introduction to South Indian cuisine, here are 10 dishes to look out for.
1. Dosas: paper-thin crepes
A traditional breakfast food made of fermented rice-and-lentil batter, a dosa is much like a crispy thin crepe. It’s accompanied by sambar (a hot lentil soup) and coconut chutney.
Masala dosas are stuffed with a spicy mash of potato and onion; plain dosas are hollow; rava dosas are made from semolina; and some new-age variants get creative with fillings such as cottage cheese or mixed vegetables.
Whatever you choose (trust us and start with a masala dosa), the delightfully light dish is best eaten hot, when it’s fresh off the griddle.
2. Idlis: steamed rice cakes
Soft, fluffy and ivory-coloured, idlis are what many South Indian families eat for breakfast. A fermented lentil-and rice-batter is steamed in little circular moulds, and the resulting spherical rice cakes are served with sambar and chutneys.
Idlis are light and mild tasting, an ideal snack for when you want to give your stomach a rest from fiery flavours.
3. Vadas: savoury doughnuts
What’s that doughnut-like thing doing on your South Indian breakfast thali (platter)? While a vada won’t cure your sugar cravings, it will satiate your desire for something deep fried, hot and crispy.
Made from a batter of black lentils, gently spiced with peppercorns, curry leaves, cumin, chilli and onion, this crunchy fritter tastes best when smeared generously with coconut chutney.
4. Uttapams: pizza-pancake hybrids
Is it a pancake? Is it a pizza? No, it’s an uttapam. A batter of fermented rice and lentils is ladled on to a griddle. Chopped tomato, onion, chillies, carrot, coconut and other toppings are then sprinkled on. The result is a fluffy, porous, delicious uttapam, softer than a dosa, and tastes great with chutneys or without.
9. Biryani: something like pilaf
The ubiquitous biryani is found in different forms all over India, changing in flavour and preparation style according to regional influences.
Biryani is essentially a dish of rice cooked with meat, veggies and spices such as turmeric, cardamom, bay leaves, cinnamon, cloves, and pepper; sometimes garnished with cashews, raisins and caramelized onions. It can be vegetarian or have meats such as chicken, mutton or beef.
While there is no single South Indian-style biryani, you’ll find different varieties such as Hyderabadidum biryani, Kerala-style Malabar or Thalasserybiryani, the coastal Karnataka variant of Bhatkalibiryani, Tamil Nadu’s Dinidgulbiryani and so on.
🍊 for thy little dudes
double ask........that means I get to talk about my more minor ocs WOO YEAH WOO THANK YOU
🍊 What is your OC’s favourite meal? Snack? Dessert? Drink? Any reasons behind this besides liking how it tastes?What is your OC’s most hated food? Stuff they can’t stand to eat or drink?
I'M PICKING THE BUNY DUO AND STRIKE'S CHILDHOOD FRIENDS: SOL AND NYJA.....
SOL really likes the fare of her hometown. Honestly we don't know much about source viera culture so it issss hard to say what exactly but she likes nuts and fatty foods a lot lmfaoo. She loves all flatbreads. Her favorite snacks are berries, and she considers them a kind of dessert too? She loves most sweets and has had a fun time trying out stuff like cakes and pies and parfaits. She thinks cold soups are weird but doesn't hate them. She kind of eats like how you might imagine a bear preparing for the winter might eat. Like everything filling.
NYJA has a thing for raw foods...? She really liked sushi when she tried it. She also tends to like sour flavors, so a lot of wild berries are a great snack to her. And most of all...she likes Sol's cooking Lol I'm pretty sure she could make anything and she'd be like Wow Huh. And if she doesn't she'd eat it enough anyways until she got used to it. So she ends up liking a lot of traditional Rava cuisine as well....she hates coconut though. She finds the taste "smothering".
Both of them loooove mead and rice wine. Nyja tends to drink less out of fear of saying stupid stuff to Sol.
