Sejanus Plinth:

He understands love and knows how to express it, he just didn't expect it to be so difficult. Like, why is Sejanus so scared to give you a note to go out with him? Why is he so nervous when he needs to talk to you? Why can't he just be smooth and not scared shitless?

Whenever Ma makes sweets, he'll give them to you as a gift. No matter the treat, if you like it, it's yours. Ma likes it since she doesn't have to worry about fridge and cabinet space and she can bake as much as she wants

If you're from one of the districts like he was, Sejanus will want to learn about your district or reminisce about District Two (if you share a district)

If you're from the Capital, he'll tell you about what life was like for the brief time he was in District Two. He’ll even ask Ma about Two just to tell you more

When Strabo eventually finds out, it's a very awkward talk. If you're from the Capital, he'll ask if you're from a wealthy family. Generally, Strabo will be calmer about it. If you're from a district, it's far worse. Strabo thinks it's an act from Sejanus wanting to stay district or keep part of it with him.

Nervous when he started going out with you. Sejanus had the worst anxiety the entire time. What if he tripped and embarrassed himself? What if he choked on food at a diner?

He constantly asks to do basic couple things. Sejanus asks to hold hands even years into the relationship when it's normal to not constantly need to ask anymore. But he does it because he's still nervous, you're still the prettiest girl he's ever seen and he will forever always be shy around you.

Reaper Ash:

You're extremely lucky to be able to date him since he doesn't go out of his way to get a lover

Even then, he is the sweetest man in the world, especially in relationships. Treats you very well and forever will

Since you both live in District Eleven, one of the poorest districts, there isn't much that goes around. But even then, Reaper constantly saves up for a potential wedding. He's never gonna tell you where the money’s going. “It's going to be for a good cause for us.” Reaper constantly says, never evaluating the matter. But he'll make comments about how your future will go

Reaper wanted to win the Games not only to take on the Capital but to go home and marry you. He's said it many years before, every year before reaping day

“I'll come home and I'll marry you. We'll have a nice wedding and then we’ll live together for the rest of our lives.” Reaper smiled at the idea but looked away from embarrassment. “I hope that doesn't sound too cheesy.”

He takes his values very seriously and it affects how he sees you too. If you're sympathetic towards the Capital, you wouldn't be in a relationship in the first place. Simple as that

Reaper has a habit of going to you whenever he gets upset throughout the day. Another public hanging, he's going to you to rant. He rants about everything. He goes on about the cruelty of the Capital and how the districts are still the animals but don't kill Capital children every year

If he got the moment to talk to you before he was on the train, he would have asked for you to never watch his games. It wasn't normal to be that violent and didn't want to have your views of him altered by the violence he would need to attain to win

Every year, just before the reaping ceremony, he kisses you. He gives you a simple goodbye if he's ever reaped but it means a lot. At least there's someone in District Eleven rooting for him to come home.

Twenty-four students waited with bated breath for their tribute to be announced. Their future lay in the hands of some districts children. Each of the students hoped and prayed that they would receive the promising tribute. Some of them got lucky and got a promising tribute with a chance to win. However, when the draw reached the eleventh district, a situation arose that left no one cold. In the broadcast, the mayor set out to draw a female tribute, after a while of unsuccessfully trying to fish out one piece of paper, he finally succeeded and slowly returned to the microphone. A gasp was heard and then one of the girls' name finally came out.,, Zinnia Ash." Several screams were heard but the most heartbreaking scream came from a boy in the next row. The line of girls finally parted to reveal a rather tall girl. She had an unusual look she looked almost bored. She slowly made her way towards the stage and the students finally got to see her in all her glory. Although she was thin she had muscles from working in the fields, her dark curly hair was loose but partially covered by a flowered scarf. Although the legs of her pants had patches on the knees, they were again embroidered with flowers along with fruits. However, what caught everyone's attention was not her clothes or her attitude, it was the slight bump on her stomach that drew them in. "She's pregnant," someone blurted out. in the hall. And then it broke down, several disgruntled voices shouted that someone else should be chosen. After a while, the hall was full of humming and arguing, and one of the teachers had to silence the entire hall under the threat of detention so that it would even be known who was chosen as the male tribute. "Reaper Ash" announced the mayor with sadness in his voice. Ash was the same last name as the female's tribute, mused someone in the crowd.,, Maybe they are siblings. someone else replied. However, the look of despair on the girl's face and the tears that fell from her eyes told a different story. The camera focused on the boy who had previously screamed in pure despair, this time he exchanged the grip of the peacekeepers who tried to restrain him. The boy quickly ran to the stage where he tightly held Zinnia in his arms and whispered something in her ear. Many people both in the broadcast and in the hall in the Capitol could not hold back tears over the fate of the two lovers. After that, the transmission was interrupted and continued to the twelfth district.

The moment Reaper's name was heard, Zinnie's world collapsed. Not only did she have to go to the arena with her unborn child, but the love of her life also goes to the same pit of hell. The moment her name was heard, she wanted to cry, but she endured it, despite Reaper's painful screams, but she couldn't stop the tears when her husband's name was drawn. Capitol felt like screaming, yelling and cursing, but she didn't want to make things worse so she let tears of pain roll down her cheeks. But before she could collapsed to the ground a pair of familiar strong arms hold her.,, It's okay I'll get you two out of there." even though he tried to calm her his words did the exact opposite. The moment she would won the games Reaper would be dead. She would be left alone with their child. Their child..... if that child could survive they could talk about happiness. We are interrupted from our embrace by the rough hand of the peacekeeper who grabbed me and began to roughly drag me to the waiting train.,, Hey leave her alone." Reaper shouted and roughly shoved the peacekeeper who was dragging me. The peacekeeper let go of my hand and wanted to hit him in return but was stopped by the second peacekeeper who whispered something to him and then pointed to my stomach, the first man just nodded and then shouted at us to get into the wagon. Although Reaper still wanted to argue, he preferred to help me climb into the tall wagon. After we were safely inside, the door closed and we found ourselfs in a dark, smelly space almost alone. We heard some whispers of other tributes. Rather than trying to make friends, we crawled into an empty corner and huddled together. My eyelids were slowly closing and the only thing I felt were the gentle kisses my husband was giving me.

I can’t get Reaper out of my head. Out of all the characters, he truly stays with you. He was so raw and had a rage so many can relate to. One thing that truly gut punched me was the parallels to real life. The outrage from the crowd as a flag was torn down. Meanwhile not a word for the countless lifeless bodies of children. My heart hurt for Reaper, and my heart breaks for what’s happening in Palestine.

i need someone to talk about reaper ash from district eleven. i need someone to talk about him and how he had collected his fellow tributes’ body one by one after they died and covered them with ripped out flags as a way to give them their own resting place in the arena. and i need someone to talk about how, after lucy gray had tired him out, he just made his way to his own makeshift morgue, rested beside his fellow fallen tributes, and covered his body with the flag before he himself died.

and how that was literally all he did. he didn’t kill anyone there (which was not said to uplift him from the others because it is a kill-or-be-killed situation, just to make a point) despite what he had said to them the night before, and how he had his own way of resisting against the capitol by refusing to play its games. someone talk about him!!!!!

I'm just thinking about people who say Snow despises Katniss because he sees Lucy Gray in her...but what feels more painful to me is that Katniss (and Peeta to a certain degree) not only embodies the qualities that the capitol despises the most regarding the districts, but Snow can see so many people involved with those 10th hunger games tributes in her:

He sees Lamina looking at Marcus in pain and killing him out of sheer mercy in Katniss shooting Cato as a mercy kill.

He sees Reaper Ash's burial and defiance by giving his fellow districts a dignified death and sepulture when Katniss remained by Rue's side and decorated her grave with flowers.

He kind of sees Coral, albeit in a much more ironic way, this girl who was ruthless and embraced such violence with the purpose to protect herself and her district partner, the one she nurses back to health and refuses to leave behind, with the wish to have either one of them survive the games, only to realise it was all for nothing once she loses him and is about to die, when she loses her frail little sister at the hands of District 13.

He sees Sejanus standing for the revolution and fighting for others in detriment of his own safety, maybe not even taking the best judgement at times, in Katniss and not only her protection of Peeta, Rue, Mags, Wiress, but also her general place in the rebellion and restless pursuit of saving Peeta.

He sees Lucy Gray, who stood by Jessup's side until his last breath and refused to abandon him, that never conformed to what the capitol expected from her, and her long lasting and unbreakable heritage and print in Katniss' during the entire saga, but especially in the song that haunted him once as a reminder of the monster he truly is, and that came back to haunt him again in his downfall.

But most importantly, he sees himself, a man defined by his sense of survival, by his practicality and selfpreservation, in this less than 18 year old girl, and that's what terrifies him the most about that district 12 girl: the fact she forces him to confront that he caused so much pain out of a hunger that was never justified, that he could have made SO many things differently, and that most importantly, different to what he would try to say to himself, there was always another choice, and he might have not chosen the correct one every single time it came to deciding what path to take.

Reaper Ash x Gender Neutral! Reader (romantic headcanons)

Summary: basic romantic headcanons for Reaper before and during the Hunger Games. __ Before the Games:

Far before the reaping or the Games, Reaper had fallen in love with you. It happened since you had the same classes and he slowly gained feelings for you. You were so kind, and he couldn't help catching glimpses of you during class.

During the reaping, when his name was called, he almost immediately felt dread. He desperately wanted to never be called, not only because it was his lasting year of (possibly) being reaped, but also because he wanted to get the opportunity to ask you out.

Reaper didn't think he could feel worse but apparently you being reaped caused him to feel so many things he thought he couldn't.

Though he would greatly prefer you not being reaped with him, considering Reaper would win and he would get to be around you.

Reaper would spend most of his time in the train car talking to you, hoping to get to know you better. He's very 'normal' when it comes to conversations, not the best, not the worst.

He's very kind and would try to keep you safe from not only the other tributes but also Capital mentors. Why should they be trusted? None of them were being taken care of properly, it's not like anything would change.

Of course, one of the mentors brought around food. Reaper wasn't extremely excited about talking to some random Capital kid. But you got some of the food. Even if he told you, it wasn't really worth it since they could've put stuff in there, you got some stuff anyway.

But he's more than grateful for you sharing food with him, giving him half of your sandwich. Reaper would make himself think you magically got it, and it was out of the kindness of your heart to give him some.

Both before and during the Games, he would keep watch over you, making sure no tributes tried anything or any Capital person came in the night to grab at you or something. Reaper would sit close to you, looking down at you softly and carefully wiping the dirt from your face, hoping you won't wake. He would be so embarrassed if you did.

During the Games:

Since he grew close to you before the Games, it meant you were more trusting of him, which meant you stayed close. You could fend for yourself, but you decided he was good enough to trust.

He would tell you to stay near him, not going to the cornucopia since he would be able to get the weapons himself. Instead, Reaper would tell you to stay in your spot or go for the tunnels.

Reaper will take you into a room in the tunnels, forcing the door shut, just enough for only him, you, or one of the stronger tributes (like Jessup) to get through. He doubted anyone would go for him since he was strong enough to take on another tribute (maybe even two if he felt it was worth it).

With his time in the tunnels with you, he would stay up nearly the entire time, staying watch to keep you and him safe. It's only on one occasion you got him to sleep while you stayed awake, which took a lot of convincing.

While a lot of tributes are asleep, he would talk to you about District Eleven, talking about things like music and hobbies he might not know you have. If you both have same hobbies or music you both like, Reaper would view it as a good bonding experience and try getting to know you better.

But he's just friendly, it's not like he has had a thing for you for months.

As time goes on, he'll try and get closer to you, physically and metaphorically. If you accept his advances, he'd be over the moon, smiling so much his face would hurt.

And he would only kiss you when he knew the Capital was asleep, no longer looking down at you through their cameras. That's when he would leave soft kisses on your face as he would hold you in his arms dearly.

The characterization of the tributes was phenomenal but my personal favorite was Reaper.

He is a character that we barely get to see but we learn so much about him. We see his hatred for the capitol from the very beginning. We know he killed a peacekeeper in district 11, He attacks Coriolanus in the shuttle, he scares Clemenisa.

However he shows great care for Dill and only seems to want to protect her. Then when she finally does go, he doesn’t fight the other tributes, he doesn’t make his death or any of the other childrens death a spectacle.

He carefully takes all the other tributes, removes the weapons that the capitol put in their hands. And covers all of them with the capitol flag, giving them the privacy in death that they deserved in life.

Then for the rest of the games, he sits by the fallen tributes almost protecting them. Though Reaper was in the Hunger Games, he never played them. All he wanted was to protect Dill and when she was gone there was no point.

Reaper always knew who the real enemy was.

Cannot stop thinking about thresh and reaper in the hunger games movie. Two black boys who are shown to really strong and could easily take out the other tributes. And how they're precieved as violent because of it.

But when they enter the arena they're seen as the exact opposite. The only death that we see thresh take on screen is clove bc she kept bragging about rue's death. Which we can tell hurt him bc if you look at scenes before the games he seems to be protective of her. And he could have easily killed katniss but he spares her life because katniss humanized rue.

And with reaper. We're told that he killed a peacekeeper in his district and he threatens snow but in the arena its shown that the only thing he cares about is protecting dill. He even defends her from attackers in the beginning and tells her to stick by his side.

And I cannot stop thinking about rue's death. And how although it is violent (a spear through her body) it's not shown in a grotesque way (I don't think we even see blood when she pulls it out). And with dill it's a similar situation. A girl with tuberculosis who drinks water that she doesn't know is filled with rat poison. And when she drinks it she doesn't convulse or do anything dramatic she just lays down and dies.

And I can't stop thinking about how those deaths are instantly humanized. Katniss and reaper both scream in anger when they find out about it. They cry about it. And then they instantly mourn her. Katniss stays with rue until the end and sings with her until she passes and then gathers flowers to give her a proper burial. And it's the same with dill. Reaper grabs her body (and the other tributes and removes their weapons) and he covers them with the flag of the capitol. To show that they're the cause of tributes deaths.

And then katniss and reaper bodly faces the camera and expresses disdain for what's going on. Katniss raises the 3 finger salute and reaper screams "are you gonna punish me now??"

And I cannot stop thinking about how when thresh dies you don't see any of it you just hear screams. And when marcus is in the arena he is tied up and beaten and shown as an example bc he ran away and he could have easily died a violent death from the other tributes. But he is given a mercy killing by another tribute. And when Jessup dies. It's because he has rabies from protecting Lucy gray from the bats on the train. But he also dies in a non violent way bc he was given water to scare him away and he just ends up accidently falling. And how when reaper dies its him being engulfed in snakes because he finally accepted his fate.

And idk this probably doesn't make sense bc it's currently 4am in the morning but as a Black fan I am glad that in a world where my people are constantly dehumanized and our graphic deaths are released in video format for the world to see and be desentized too....

It's nice to not see anything violent and dehumanizing about us in a series about kids dying to the death. Like everyone knows that the black kids are gonna die but they could have done something really violent with them and it's nice to not see that happen.
