also in the face of people deleting their blogs, that's another reason why you guys are supposed to reblog stuff. if somebody deletes a post, your liked version will disappear, but the reblogs remain. i'm insane about preservation and archival, every single piece of art i have ever enjoyed is reblogged on my 450k+ posts main account so if the artists leave I still have their work. i even tag things (though just with the main fandom tag) so I have years and years worth of fanworks saved that the terrible general site search will never show you.

please reblog art. not just to support the artists who make it and share their efforts, but also so you have your own copy of their works saved for yourself, and the future users of this site.

Fëanorian Week 2023, Day 1: Maedhros

I’m so late with these I’m not even fashionably late.  But better late than never (cf. Fingolfin, probably, after finally getting to Middle Earth).

To anyone who went “Hmm I wonder if the theme this year is going to be classical sculpture?”, well, congratulations, you’re right, though I don’t know how you would have guessed that.  I was originally going to do something where I based each drawing off the meaning of the name, and since “Maitimo” means “well-shaped one” the first thing that came to mind was a Greek or Renaissance statue.  But after finishing it I decided that it had been a lot of fun and I might as well do the rest the same way.  And it sort of fit into the whole Fëanorian theme since Nerdanel is a sculptor.

With Twitter’s recent shadowbans and Moosk screwing artists over and over, I started posting my art on other places such as Pixiv and Bluesky and I'm also resurrecting my FurAffinity account.

With that said, to reach my audience, I’ve been reviewing my options and have decided to open a sideblog only for my Yakuza art! so everybody knows google sucks now but i feel like every website with a search engine in the last year or two has shifted more towards pumping more "related" content into your searches and making it harder to find the exact things you're looking for (which is, yknow. the POINT of a search engine).

#twitter recently removed a useful quirk of their engine where you could exclude usernames from search #for example if you search “bird” it also shows random tweets from anyone with “bird” in their username #youtube and deviantart are aggressively showing me completely unrelated stuff when i try to search for anything #at least tumblr search has never worked #also if this gets more than like 30 notes i'm turning off reblogs. i don't need a repeat of the last post like this

Guys, I need your help. Do you have any recommendations for websites for artists? Like, DevianArt’s new policy really fucked it up, Twitter was a hellhole from begin with and Tumblr sucks out any passion for posting new art around here. Some tips would be very nice.
