I absolutely LOVE the Solangelo cover.

But…

It doesn’t match my other books! It’s so minor but it’s uncomfy looking at my books and seeing mismatched covers. I have the hardcover Shadowhunter books and it gets on my nerves that Red Scrolls of Magic is forever a different style than the other books. Also just the Eldest Curses series in general has the titles horizontal in the spines rather than vertical like all the other books.

Apologies if you never noticed that last part until now and it’s got you uncomfy now too.

Okay so i decided to make a list of all the peopel who hit on Alec (in chronological order) so here we go:

1. The phoka who pinched Alec's ass when he walked by (City of Bones)

2. Magnus (every book Alec is in, as far as I'm aware. Unfortunately he's too slow and is below the phoka)

3. The mundane woman with the too big sunglasses who shouted "beau gosse" at Alec while he was swimming at a pool (Red Scrolls of Magic)

4. Juliette the warewolf who didn't actually do anything but she "watched a little sadly as Alec put {a shirt} on" so I'm counting it (Red Scrolls of Magic)

The last time I read something about the Shadowhunters was a long time ago. The emotions after reading whole main story plus one spin off have already fallen and I had a chance to renew my relationship with Cassandra Clare's books.

I liked it so much. Even if I think some bad things about the main serie, story about Magnus and Alec was way above my expectations. I found here some sentimental characters, I had a chance to see Magnus just as he is and what built him. And I can say that his character is multidimensional, not every Clare's characters are constructed that well. Bane seems to be exuberant, open wizard which can't hide any secrets. However, he is hidding many, many facts about himself and his past. And he won't let anyone know about how broken, how weak he sometimes is. Won't ask for help even if he really need it.

And the most important thing... he is just good person. Almost heavenly good, too good for be the son of the prince of hell. He helps everyone without wanting anything back, to this level that he is surprised when someone show the littlest signs of caring about him.

There is also one 'bad character'. Shinyun Jung.

And I placed her role in quotation marks for a reason. Because, as we come to know along the reading, and as I happened to know from some other books, villains are not born. They are made.

Ostatni raz, kiedy czytałam o Nocnych Łowcach miał miejsce bardzo, bardzo dawno temu. Emocje po głównej serii i paru spin offach zdążyły już opaść, więc miałam szansę na odnowienie mojego kontaktu z książkami autorstwa Cassandry Clare.

"Czerwone Zwoje Magii" bardzo mi się podobała. Nawet, jeśli mam drobny osobisty konflikt z główną serią, opowieść o Magnusie i Alecu przewyższyła kilkukrotnie moje oczekiwania. Znalazłam w niej kilka sentymentalnych postaci, miałam szansę zobaczyć Magnusa właśnie takim, jakim jest i to, co go zbudowało. Muszę przyznać, że ta postać jest wielowymiarowa, nie każdy bohater Clare jest tak dobrze rozwinięty. Bane wydaje się być otwartym czarownikiem, nieskrywającym żadnych sekretów, lekkoduchem. A jednak, jak się dowiadujemy, skrywa ich wiele. Dodatkowo, nie da nikomu zobaczyć, jak słaby czasami jest. Nie poprosi o pomoc nawet jeśli bardzo by jej potrzebował.

I najważniejsze... jest po prostu dobrym człowiekiem. Nieziemsko dobrym, zbyt dobrym jak na syna Księcia Piekieł. Pomaga każdemu zupełnie bezinteresownie, do tego stopnia, że jest zaskoczony, kiedy ktoś wykazuje najmniejsze przejawy troski o niego.

Mamy również jeden "zły charakter". Shinyun Jung.

Jej rolę włożyłam między cudzysłów, ponieważ, jak się dowiadujemy w miarę czytania, a jak i ja zauważyłam czytając inne książki, złe charaktery nie rodzą się złe. One się tworzą.
