these are unfinished i'm just posting them to give myself permission to be more obnoxious about my bg3 ocs on main
#baldurs gate 3#bg3 spoilers#oc: memento#<- not their name. an out-of-universe nickname. i make things very confusing for myself#the scratched out text above 'the dark urge' is robin fairbairn - the name given to them by their foster family#oc: impulse#oc: luc sauveterre#uhhh what are my notes. aberrant mind sorc doesnt exist in-game or as a mod but it's impulse's canon in my heart#i also havent actually played them as that rogue multiclass yet... 2 bonus actions + the awakened buff will be Fucking Busted i think#as for lae'zel being listed as their bestie: she was the first to make it to 100 approval. trying hard to make that make sense#luc is a brand new character i made him like 2 or 3 days ago. he's a painfully earnest wife guy. going for squidlach with him#not picturing but still existing: my evil durge my wyllmancer and my vague laezelmancer#pictured*#is that it. i think thats it. idk if the volume of oc posting will actually increase#i would reblog the tav-as-companion ask meme but theyre all so wrapped up in their respective bits of the main story/romances. i wouldnt be#able to answer most of the questions#it's not like i can reblog shippy ask memes either. mementostarion is on a one-track road to a messy divorce#impulse's relationship is.................#let's leave it at that. luc & karlach are normal and healthy and cute but it does end with one of them a mind flayer so#(impulse also ends up a mind flayer for the record)#siiiighs. just gotta start reblogging things to fill their tags with. and maybe go take a nap

Some shots of @gumshoesniper’s bard, Robin, and the idiot accidentally-an-oathbreaker paladin dragonborn he hired on as a mercenary after the druid grove, Carabas. Carabas hasn’t got a tadpole, but only because there’s no brain for it to be inserted into.
Some more bonus (unedited) pictures of Robin under the cut, because he’s pretty 😘

ok so felix's main bg3 verse. . .
the cattons are a noble high elf family in the upper city. felix will become a ranger like his father was, and vee will not settle one a class, though she absolutely does not want to go worship at the hands of any deity so catch her living the life of a lady. farleigh is a half elf -- his mother married a human from another city in faerun, which is where farleigh was until his father passed away. now farleigh lives at saltburn with the twins.
felix meets quentin coldwater, a human wizard, when they are still young enough to be boys running around together. they pick up @devi1lute somewhere along the way, during tavern's early courtesean's days in the upper city. the three of them are quite an unstoppable force. that is until oliver quick comes into their lives.
felix doesn't know he was in love until that love was ripped from him. in order to try to secure felix for himself, oliver uses tricks he's learned from years with the guild to take quentin out of the picture, making it seem like an accident. while ollie thinks that'll force felix to turn to him, it's tavern he turns to in grief. that's when the anger comes. that's when oliver decides his infamous if i can't have him no one can.
thanks to his training, felix's body knows the effects of poison once it's ingested. he throws back up the wine that oliver gave him and sets out to try to find the bastard. it's while he's out in the woods that the illithids pick him up. while it seems to be fate, it was actually oliver. he set up a deal. oliver's prize? saltburn.
he doesn't anticipate the hero's journey that felix is about to embark on.
as a deeply neutral good aligned character, felix aligns with @we4ved from the moment he pulls him from the rock. while falling in love is slow for them both for such different reasons, felix is quick to deny anyone else's advances in camp. it isn't that gale reminds him of quentin. . . it's just that gale wants him to himself in the same ways quentin did.
he falls for the man much easier than the magic and the ambition. those are pieces of gale as much as his jokes and his love of books are. the whole package is needed together, and with it felix can stay up all night by the fire just talking to him. they make a perfect team, especially with karlach and shadowheart on either side.
when the battle is done, gale does what felix thinks is the unthinkable: he chooses to ascend to godhood over felix. after everything they'd been through, he felt the need to do this, without felix by his side. it breaks felix's heart, but he stays in baldur's gate to rebuild with those still there.
seeing gale again for the first time in six months, knowing he'd found his way to godhood on his own, left felix concerned with what might happen. astarion seemed to think the fact that felix wanted to put on his party best when whithers' portal appeared was outrageous. . . but he helped him anyway. the two had grown much closer now that they could claim a shared title as hero. at least astarion didn't judge whatever felix needed to do in the night to try to get over his love.
but it seems every moment spent trying to forget gale could be thrown out the window the moment he sees him again. glimmering silver in the light of his new powers, felix tries his hardest just be with his friends. . . but eventually he wanders to get gale alone. while wyll thinks it foolish that a god could love a mortal man, felix knows that they love they shared ties their bonds still. one night together again becomes many and after another six months pass it becomes obvious that felix's time will be spent in the mortal realm in the home he creates with scratch and tara in baldur's gate, and gale's realm amongst the pantheon.
he will never become a god, but he's an elf. he'll live long and take care of the city. when his time comes, instead of passing on to the heavens he belongs, his soul will move to it's place beside gale forever.

notes:
felix's dream guardian is q. yes it hurts as much as you think it will when he eventually realizes that q is in fact dead.
this is just his main verse cause i developed it with darian while i was playing through the run and i based it on the ending i actually got lol. the more we talked about it today, the more i realized i LOVE what can be for god!gale and felix.
i will super selectively ship felix in this verse. it would either be an AU where felix and gale do not get together OR after felix gets his heartbroken and then decides not to get back together with gale. felix is still hella gay.

Sorry, I don't mean to disappear for months, but I've been getting back into reading comics after taking a super long break to play bg3. So, I've finally gotten around to reading the Knight Terrors: Robin issues that have been sitting in my 'to read' box months after they've been relevant. I’m sure everyone else had a bunch to say when it came out but here’s my two cents.
The issues just really fall flat to me. Like, I wasn't expecting a two-shot to be a deep dive into Tim's dead-dad trauma or anything, but I do feel like it misses what the core fear/horror that surrounds Jack's death is.
Tumblr media
Like, the KT issues posset that what Tim fears the most is failing to save people, with his dad's death being the figurehead of that. That this failure is what makes him unworthy of being Robin. I'm not going to say that isn't true, that reasoning definitely factors into Tim's trauma. But it also just feels basic to me.
Tumblr media
Like, 'failing to save a loved one' is one of the most basic superhero tropes at this point. I'd be hard pressed to think of a hero who hasn't failed to save someone they know. It might as well be a rite of passage.
Tumblr media
(In fact, here's a panel of Tim thinking as such about his parents in an issue literally called Rites of Passage.)
Also, Tim has already had a 'crisis of faith' arc after failing to save someone with the character of Eldon Adams (Young El). It had a very big impact on Tim and the fallout of that lasted for several issues.
Tumblr media
Identity Crisis certainly has its flaws and at times I question the need to kill off Jack in the first place. But, to me anyway, Jack's death is beautifully written and manages to tie his and Tim's decades-long storyline off in an interesting way.
The important point to make about Tim in relation to all this is that he chooses to be Robin. He was never picked, he was never fated, he was not born to do it. Robin is something he actively chooses to be. At first, it's an easy choice to make. Tim reasons that since his parents are off doing their own thing it won’t be an issue if he’s gone all the time. But, as time goes on, Jack starts spending more time at home, wanting to spend more time with Tim. The issue "resolves" in this instance by having Jack's time get taken up when he starts dating Dana Winters. But this tension continues to be a major subplot throughout Tim’s series. Tim and Jack’s already strained relationship is constantly made worse by Robin.
Tim feels guilty that his duty as Robin keeps getting in the way of his relationships. Tim's friends like Ives and Ariana are constantly stood up or brushed aside. Anything that ties Tim to the normal life he used to have is always being balanced against Robin. And for as much as Tim tries to maintain it, for as much as he says his normal life is what keeps him grounded when push comes to shove Tim always ends up choosing Robin.
The thing that makes Jack's death different from all the other parental deaths in the Batfam, and the Identity Crisis did right, is that they made it a direct consequence of Tim choosing to be Robin. Bruce's parents were killed at random. Dick's were targeted in a situation outside of his control. Jason's mother was killed for her involvement with the Joker, which started before he even met her (and his dad with Two-Face).
Jack was killed because his son was Robin. In Identity Crisis, Jean Loring targets the family members of heroes. She never would have hired Captain Boomerang to kill Jack if Tim wasn't Robin.
(Obviously, none of this is to minimize any of these characters' pain or to say one is worse than another.)
The added twist of the knife is that Tim had been spending that week with Jack instead of helping everyone find the killer. It's the one night that Tim chooses to go out as Robin again that Jack is killed. If Tim had stayed just one more night, even just one more hour, he could have saved his dad. And Jack lets him go because he knows how important Robin is to Tim.
Tumblr media
This is more of an aside, I love this sequence of Tim ripping off his Robin uniform. Like obviously the intention is that Tim can't be seen wearing it when the police arrive. But the subtext to me reads that Tim is ripping Robin off, this thing that's come between them at every moment. Tim, before he even knows if Jack is alive or dead, doesn't want Robin to come between them anymore.
Tumblr media
And Jack's death is something of a 'point of no return' for Tim. Before this, many of the people who know Tim is Robin have pointed out that he could always return to a normal life if he wanted to. Tim himself believes that he'll probably retire being Robin at some point. (I have my own thoughts that aren't relevant here about how that's more about him being practical as opposed to his genuine wish for his future, but I digress.) But after this, Tim is locked into the vigilante life. There's nothing normal he could return to. If he can’t be good at this, then what was the point?
KT Robin just feels uninspired. It doesn't try to extract what makes Jack's death unique or interesting. It just picks the most surface-level takeaway you could have from it. Like, it's not just about being not good enough for the job. It's losing everything because you chose to do this job and you still don't know if you're good enough to do it.

if zagreus from wasting beats was born as a mortal man into BG3's Faerun instead of ancient Greece what would his story be??? What would be different/the same??
HNRGHHHHH Robin, this question is like catnip for me.
Oh man, if we're following wasting beats logic (he was once a god but is now just a mortal human man who doesn't have memories of being a god), then I think he'd be a prime target for tadpoling.
The cult of the Absolute would probably want to capture him alive and see if they could "release" his latent divine potential, as an asset to their cause. Zagreus starts investigating them because he wants answers about his life, damnit, and quickly finds out that, actually, he wants to stop this cult more than anything.
Given Zagreus in general can accept all sorts of punishment, a small thing let getting his brain chewed open wouldn't necessarily stop him, but I think he'd have a super rough time of it! He'd have to grow very quickly into the DND adventurer hardiness, perhaps specializing in necromantic magic and every melee weapon known to man. Thanatos could even be his patron and he could go hard down the warlock route, wielding blood magic and blade alike.
Zagreus' quest would probably still center around the unspoken questions of his parentage and also the missing divine goddess of nature. It's almost an easy fit, because so much of BG3's Faerun is based off wild hunches and adventurers galloping about the world. He'd make friends with the druid Callisto and the light cleric Iapyx and help mediate the local orcs and their failing marriage.
Thanatos would show up in the camp and leave without warning, but no one other than Zagreus could see him. The god seems to want to leave some sort of warning, but Zagreus keeps trying to get him to play drinking games with him instead. :'D
But as he journeys through Faerun and explores old temples and starts to get hints of what, exactly, his origins might be, there's this growing fear that he might be reclaimed by whatever plane his father resides in. He might not be able to stay at all. The god of death, his FATHER, wants him back, mortality be damned, and he might have to make the ultimate choice:
Embrace the tadpole and allow himself to be forever changed, casting aside who he once might have been-
or
Finally understand who he was born to be, take the power of his bloodline, but forever leave behind everything he cares about to fulfill that destiny.

BG3 Oc question, what's one fact/headcanon you have about them (any of them) that you haven't had the chance to talk about yet?
(rattles my cage with how excited i am to talk abt this) okay so the character im most obsessed with rn is robin as u guys can tell, the tiefling othbreaker paladin! and in my head i have a few things about her that imagine happening throughout the game in my head.
for one she is extremely emotionally closed off and has the emotional vulnerability of a brick wall so she’s terrible with comfort or sincerity, often just showing emotions through actions.
she grew up heavily religious but came to despise gods all together so she has no respect for deities when they walk around baldurs gate. if played as durge she also wants bhaals powers but is like smh this fuckn guy
she also has tummy aches sometimes but is real strong about it :3
