It doesn’t even matter if I particularly cared for a show I’ll always be devastated for the fans of any show that gets cancelled. I understand that there’s financial reasons as to why a show may not be allowed to continue but at this point streaming platforms need to be asking themselves why is it that they’re cancelling all these shows? If they want a hit show it has to be given time to grow and develop its audience. And then regardless of that fact, people who have invested their time in a story deserve to see its completion. It’s so undeniably evil for corporations to continue to axe shows without warning not just for the fans of the show, but for everyone involved as well. The emotion and heart put into these pieces of media is always so visible and it’s soul crushing watching an industry throw it away. Fans and creatives deserve to see stories told with a complete arc because otherwise why are we bothering with these streaming platforms?

Something I need to see in season 2: at least one full episode of Nancy being the best ally and coming up with increasingly batshit excuses for why Cynthia and Lydia keep disappearing together until Cynthia is ready to tell the other Pink Ladies

Cynthia’s coming out scene was so heart wrenching, and so beautiful.
First and foremost, I love that it was done non-verbally. As a neurodivergent viewer who sees how neurodivergent Cynthia is, it made the scene that much more impactful. That she was feeling so many things and thinking so many things that all there was to do was shut down. I felt every emotion with her and Ari did an absolutely incredible job portraying those feelings. Not even to mention how Nancy did not assume Cynthia was ignoring her or being rude for a second and completely understood what Cynthia wanted to say.
When Nancy asks what’s wrong, Cynthia says she doesn’t want to talk about it. Nancy, being Nancy, keeps pushing, and starts asking more specific questions. When Nancy mentions Cynthia’s mom, that’s the moment she truly shuts down— which leads to a whole other concept— but easily establishes that Nancy and Cynthia have a trust that has been built that we the audience, haven’t seen.
Nancy tells Cynthia “You can tell me anything” and we can immediately see Cynthia’s thoughts, “not this.” as she shakes her head with so much pain and fear. She wants to trust Nancy so badly, but she’s not allowed to. Nancy assumes “You don’t want to talk about it” and Cynthia shakes her head, but Nancy knows this isn’t a no, she knows “You can’t talk about it.” Which hurts Cynthia even more because Nancy knows her so well but she’s so afraid of admitting to this part of her.
And then Nancy suggests writing instead of talking. Once again, from a neurodivergent standpoint, this was so important to me. But watching as Cynthia slides the paper to Nancy, but not loosening her grip in a desperate attempt to cherish these moments before her best friend turns on her and she loses the last thing she has. But Nancy reads it. The silence is long, the pencil scratching on the paper is taunting Cynthia. And Nancy slides it back. Cynthia doesn’t hesitate in reaching for it and with one glance, it finally all hits her.
The fear, the anger, the despair, the pain, the relief.
It’s so much to bear and suddenly, she doesn’t have to bear it alone. Because Someone accepts her. Someone has proved there is no circumstance in which Cynthia will ever go unloved by them. And in that moment, they are safe to feel it all.

Rating show names based on their accuracy (+ thoughts):
based on this post
Community: they sure are a community. a community of mentally ill community college students who definitely all need therapy. also very gay.
The Great: catherine ii is great, peter iii sucks. kinda horrific at times, but cool story.
Suits: haven’t watched much of it. i know they do wear suits and that the main two guys have a weird relationship. megan markle and the woman who plays donna are cool.
The Office: they work in an office. jokes did not age well, but also a lot were offensive at the time of airing. funny though, and influential.
Parks and Recreation: i mean i guess they talk about parks and recreation a little bit, but honestly not as informational as you might expect.
Shameless: yeah i don’t think that family has any shame.
The Magicians: the are magicians, but most importantly they are all mentall i’ll
New Girl: she’s new, she’s a girl. it fits
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: nope. it’s pretty dark.
Mythic Quest: there’s really no quests nor are there any myths. but i do love danny pudi so i watched it.
Ted Lasso: yep, that’s the main characters name.
Supernatural: let’s hope that’s all just the supernatural and not real
The Rise of the Pink Ladies: pretty good. sad it got canceled and taken off streaming though
Good Omens: not really. i think these people always got another coming at them as soon as the defeat the previous one.
What We Do in the Shadows: not really shadows, but it isn’t a super well lit show.
9-1-1: these bitches always got something wrong with them
9-1-1 Lone Star: same as the last but country
Modern Family: these people were still making the same damn mistakes as people were 20 years before. good show though.
The X-Files: i’m going to guess it’s pretty accurate. i’m pretty new to the show though.

AND THIS IS WHY I KIN NANCY SO HARD
Ok besides this OSCAR WORTHY scene, over all this final episode was incredibly satisfying
It solved a lot of problems ( so if the show gets cancelled at least we have most of it pinned down except a couple of loose treads) but left enough unresolved for a great second season!!
Starting off with Cynthia and Lydia and they relationship in the future! I can't wait to see them working on it
Then Buddy giving up on school all together and go find his own way without having to give up on his friends.
Mr Creeper and how he will be in the next season because rest assured he will act like a menace to the Pink Ladies if they will still allow him to teach.
Miss Mcgee and ger upcoming assistant
Hazel and her boy problems and how that will evolve and the fact that she is a Pink lady now!!
And goddamn it Gil and Oliviaaaaaaa
ZUKO??? I'm thinking he is probably Denny Zuko Older Brother AND THAT IS SO COOOL AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW IT GOES DOWN
lastly a detail that i really loved "THE PINK LADIES PLEDGE!!" AAAAAHHHH

YALL NEED TO WATCH GREASE: RISE OF THE PINK LADIES
I PROMISE YOU WON’T REGRET IT
There’s found family. Girl friendships. Girl kissing. Soft boys. Soft girls. Tough boys. Tough girls. Tough folks of all kinds that are vulnerable for the ones they love. Character growth. Fleshed out characters. Epic dance numbers. Epic music numbers. All around just a fan-flipping fantastic time that made me smile, made me laugh, made me tear up, and made me believe in the beautiful.
Go on!! Give it a go!

i was rewatching episode 5 for edit purposes and i realised something.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
here lydia is talking about the kiss, but it has a deeper meaning.
i can’t get out of my mind the fact that yes, she found cynthia annoying from the start, but it was the endearing kind of annoying. (or maybe that’s just my ship goggles.) because if you look back at episode 3, the first time they meet, and pay close attention to the expressions lydia makes in the background when the drama teacher is telling cynthia that she’s now a martian, there's no trace of hate or disgust.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like, hello?? that’s flirting. (or maybe i would just swoon if someone looked at me like that.) and what about their rivarly?
Tumblr media
does this look like she’s angry at cynthia? to me, she seems mildly annoyed, but also interested. no one’s ever questioned her, and now this butch comes along and proves her wrong. but lydia doesn’t really understand how she feels about cynthia yet. she tries to re-establish her power in episode 4, but cynthia once again overthrows her.
and now yes, she is angry, and confused. ever since cynthia’s joined drama club she has brought nothing but chaos in the established hierarchy, and in lydia’s mind: why can’t she stop thinking about her?
is it hate, mere superficial attraction (see the “flirting” above), or something more?
she has to get it over with, quickly. “the quicker you get something over with, the less of a deal it becomes in your mind”. she needs to put a stop to these thoughts: what’s the quickest way to?
Tumblr media
stage kisses are meaningless. she obviously isn’t crushing on cynthia, just like she felt nothing for all the people she kissed on stage. thus the straightforward scientific experiment: she’ll kiss cynthia, she’ll be sure she feels nothing, and all will go back to normal. she’ll stop obsessing over cynthia. right?
rehearsing romeo and juliet is the best excuse ever. because no one can convince me she didn’t follow cynthia in an empty room (where guests shouldn’t enter) to test her theory, and then jumped at the opportunity. (like why else would she follow them? if not to flirt? which to her means bullying them, because she’s a mean lesbian.)
Tumblr media
but her plan backfired. and now she knows she’s got an actual crush. on cynthia.
while cynthia, sweet cynthia, thinks they just love acting.

I’m especially sad for Shanel though. Literally two weeks ago she posted about how excited she was to show a dark skinned black girl as a founding member of the Pink Ladies because of how iconic they are in pop culture. And now not even a month later not only will the show not get a second season (which would show Hazel as a more prominent member of the Pinks) but it’s being removed entirely. That representation it quite literally being erased. For a show that centres around people who are ousted from society (whether that be based on gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality or class) and how unfair that treatment is where the fuck do paramout+ get off axing all their shows with said representation??? It literally makes no sense
