Hazel and Gat's Theme in Gunlock

I saw on the wiki that their theme sounded like one of Tupac's songs, and boy whoever wrote that wasn't kidding! It makes me imagine Gat carrying around a radio playing Tupac songs at Hazel's request.

For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, here's a clip from Gunlock where you can hear their theme about 2 minutes into episode 13:

Also, since it's Gunlock Hazel and Gat, I mixed in Gunlock's color palette with the colors I usually use with these two. Which made me realize, I really like the silvery blue color scheme they used for Hazel in Gunlock. One of the few good things I can say about Gunlock's version of Hazel…

Xuanzang Sanzang was an abandoned child floating in the river. He was brought up by Master Guangming Sanzang of Jinshan Temple, and because of this, he was discriminated against by the monks in the temple. The murder of his master dealt a huge blow to his mind, and thus he developed a withdrawn and rebellious character. Sanzang is arrogant and uninhibited, pursues freedom, and does not want to be bound by anything. He wants to find absolute strength and strength to protect his important things. The weapon he uses is the Ascension Spear, and his unique skill is "Lord of the Rings".

Sun Wukong, who always follows Sanzang closely, is a strange life form born from a stone 500 years ago. He uses a wishful stick that matches his agility as a weapon. His personality is extremely simple, his way of thinking is simple and direct, naughty and gluttonous, but when he removes the demon power control device on his forehead, he will completely lose his mind, full of desire to destroy and kill, and become an extremely dangerous person. Zhu Bajie is a master at using stomatal techniques, with a gentle and kind personality, easy and approachable. With a smile on his face all the time, he is thoughtful, considers issues meticulously and comprehensively, and can always see through other people's thoughts. But in fact, Bajie is also a human being same as Sanzang. Because his lover was destroyed by monsters, he crazily retaliated and turned himself into a monster. The crime and punishment that can never be eliminated is an irreparable wound in his heart, and under that gentle smile is the sadness that longs to be healed.

The red-haired Sha Wujing is the child of monsters and humans, so he is hated by his stepmother. His elder brother killed his own mother in order to protect him, which made him think that he was the real murderer and deeply blamed himself. From then on, Wujing realized the pure and unrestrained form of the waves, a lustful and outspoken prodigal, but he was still a bold man who loved to fight against injustice. The weapon he uses is a crescent shovel with a chain. Although he often bickers with Wukong, he is actually very considerate of his companions.

This group of characters with full of personality quoted the names of the characters in the Chinese classic "Journey to the West", but completely subverted the original image. Although the background of the story is set in ancient times, their language and behavior are no different from modern people. Make the film full of post-modern colors. The four people who are mixed with humans and demons each have their own inner wounds, and the delicate portrayal of their psychological processes brings the audience into a world that is sentimental and yet warm.

Monthly Minekura Christmas edition

Day 23 “North Pole”

Another prompt, another composition. First time I ever drew a vehicle but since I wanted to be as accurate as possible I had to heavily reference Hakuryuu in jeep form and some parts were traced in order to get proportions right. Shading was purely done in soft shading technique this time because I wanted to speed up the process since I am busy with exams. Others were quite fun to draw especially because I wanted to highlight each character's behaviour, yes the map was very simple because I drained my energies on Hakuryuu XD but let's just image they simply get lost and their journey turned into Journey to the North. The bear chase was inspired by Saiyuki Reload Gunlock episode 3 XD

Poor Gojyo XD someone help him, but the real question is: how do they manage to resist polar cold with those clothes? XD

Meet the Seiyuu: Mozus Trein

Mozus Trein’s voice actor Koyama Rikiya has been in the entertainment industry since 1988.

He is an accomplished Shakespearean actor, winning 2001’s Yomiuri Theater Grand Prize for Excellence for his portrayal of Antonio in a stage production of Merchant of Venice.

Koyama toured the UK, France, the Netherlands, Romania, Italy and Russia giving live performances in stage shows such as Twelfth Night, MacBeth, The Winter’s Tale, Othello, Crime and Punishment and more.

Koyama’s first-ever TV casting was as the lead role of Joe of Haze in 1989’s Kamen Rider Black RX. His voice acting resume includes roles in: - over 300 anime series and movies - almost 250 video games - over 200 foreign movie and TV show dubs

2) A character in Saiyuki that grew on you

I always like Goku. I don't know why I liked him when I was little, but the more I know his story the more I like him. I'm quite sad when people see him like a child, he sees so much more than it seems. I'm thrilled to see how sensei developed his character, specially in Even a Worm arc, and how sensei drew him much more mature in Blast. Not only Sanzo, but he's like the sun to me too :3 There are many characters that grew on me as I spent more time with Saiyuki, Sanzo, Koumyo, Tenkai, Jikaku, Gat…

4) Favorite member of Kougaiji’s group

Is Zakuro part of his group? Yeah? No? Then Instructor Wang it is. I'm… oddly attracted to eccentric old men lmao.

8) Which character do you really dislike?

This is a hard question, I never really dislike a character as they all have their background stories… If I have to choose though, Li Touten, probably, for using Nataku like that :/

17) How long have you enjoyed Saiyuki?

I watched Reload and Reload Gunlock on TV when I was in elementary school, and you know they used sensei's art for the ending songs? I was so captivated that I searched for the manga. That's the first time I really worked myself to search for something. I just realized it's been around 20 years… omg

32) Do you enjoy writing/drawing/creating fan works for the Saiyuki fandom?

Absolutely! I write and draw and make covers, also translating the songs to English. I used many websites and you can see them here. I wish I have the energy to create more… at least to finish the ones I started..

38) Do you binge read the entire series or read selected chapters?

Sometimes I binge read, sometimes I read selected chapters. Mostly I read selected chapters when I'm in the mood!

46) If [character] died, what do you think they’d be reborn as?

Since you didn't give me the character, I'll go with Goku for the next two questions. By the way, I don't think Goku will die soon, I headcanon him aging very slowly… I wrote a fanfic about this, where Goku lives in the modern world lol. But anyway, I kinda imagine him reborn as a celestial being, much like Jeep, with powers and big responsibility for the world. A dragon maybe? I never thought about this before actually so I just type whatever pops up in my head lol

I don't mind spoilers, sometimes it helps me to get into the story better.

Remake all the animated versions, with quality. Let's say, by Platinum Vision, the one who produces Reload Blast. Honestly, I like Saiyuki so much, but I don't rewatch it that much, besides Burial, because of the quality of the animes… It's also the reason why it's so hard to tell my friends about Saiyuki. People tend to watch rather than read, but I don't really want people to watch Saiyuki with the quality they have now. So yeah…

73) What character is still a mystery to you?

I wanna say Koumyo but well, I'm more interested in Tenkai and Taruchie. They're the ones with connection, connecting Ibun, which I see as the oldest story of Saiyuki on earth, and Blast, which will be the ending of it. Even though they're not the center of the plot, I believe they took an important part in it. That also brings me to Sai Tai Sai... but I guess we'll find out about Sai in the future. I hope to see Tenkai and Taruchie lore as well :3

Hello Sage, I've been watching the Gunlock series lately, and I'm a bit annoyed with Sanzo's actions in episode 20, what's their relationship really like?Is their relationship very fragile? Hadn't they been adventuring together all this time?

Gunlock was made while the Even a Worm arc had barely started in the manga. While there are some similarities, such as Sanzo leaving, it's done in very different ways.

If you have the ability to watch it, check out Saiyuki Reload ZEROIN which essentially retcons the second half of Gunlock and tell the story more faithfully to the manga.

There's a much bigger reason in the original story as to why Sanzo leaves. And it makes a lot more sense.
