Sharma Family prompt suggestion
A Sharma family holiday fic with husbands and children, the sisters doting on each other’s babies and Mary as the matriarch… just some family fuzzy feels
Thank you xoxo
Thank you so much for the prompt! Now since you mentioned babies, I was toying between having Edwina be with Friedrich in this (as I ship them together) or having Mary, while holding Edmund, imagining Edwina having kids of her own, and I think I can fit both storylines. I know that you said holiday, but I changed it to Mary's birthday so I hope that's all right. I'm super nervous, as this is my first time writing for an ask, but I hope you like it!
Tumblr media
The Bridgerton family's ancestral home of Aubrey Hall held an atmosphere of joyous momentum, lightened spirits and warm hearts flooding the halls as the members of the household flocked every corner. It was the Viscountess Bridgerton's dear mother's, Mary Sharma, birthday and had been a long awaited event of celebration for the family. Though Mary had been very adamant on not wanting to trouble anyone even with the special day, her daughters had been most insistent and had dragged many of the other Bridgertons into it. Anthony had proclaimed very vocally that they were family following a few years after he and Kate were wed, and hoping to clear out any doubt of belonging with the Bridgerton family from Mary's and, when the awkwardness between them had settled, Edwina's minds.
They were family, and deserved to be celebrated on special days such as birthdays.
Violet was ever most excited for the celebration, having come to find herself considering Mary as one of her closest friends during their time together, spending hours upon hours talking away over tea from the lives of their children, their desire for more grandchildren to spoil, to the gossip of the Ton (though amongst anyone but themselves or Lady Danbury, they would pretend to hold little interest). Practically attached to Kate's hip, the pair were an unstoppable force as they had set plans for the event in motion long before they had even reached Aubrey Hall.
Mary could only laugh sweetly as she watched those she had come to view as family and taken into her heart hurried around to prepare final details, all for a celebration just for her. She could recall birthdays, her own, being one of little joyful experiences given the nature of her parents. Always so serious, hardly ever allowing for her to have a moment to feel any sort of excitement towards her special day. It wasn't until she met her love, the most wonderful man to ever grace the Earth, that she began to change her views toward her birthday. And that new view fell onto their daughters, who would only know happiness and love on their birthdays and never anything else. Mary nearly felt like bursting into tears then and there as she watched Kate, from her hidden spot as to avoid spoiling any surprises, discuss adamantly with the staff on the arrangement of flowers that she knew her mother would love most so.
While there would forever be moments of hurt and sadness that had left Mary clinging to her eldest daughter, to lift the great burden from her shoulders that she was never meant to carry, there would be moments of endless delight and amity as she and Kate were now closer than ever, and growing more and more as the years went by. When she had discovered that Kate was with a child, her first, Mary could not help but be elated. However, upon seeing the hesitant look in Kate's eyes, she swallowed her own feelings and sought to provide comfort that her daughter had so desperately needed. When Kate had asked for her to be by her side during the delivery, Mary simply smiled warmly as she held every intention of being there for her daughter.
A small whine drew Mary's attention to the toddler in her arms, the product of Kate's and Anthony's love and the newest piece within Mary's heart. Edmund was only three and yet had Mary wishing that she could slow time, and keep him small forever. He had once held a ball of energy earlier in the day, only growing more and more when Friedrich appeared and swept him under his arms. The boy had been most fond of his uncle, and the pair had nearly toured the whole gardens before returning inside with, surprisingly, little stains from their adventure (Kate had Friedrich to thank, as the idea of having to bathe her energetic son was the last thing on her list).
Though Edmund's childish glee quickly became bashful when he tucked himself into his aunt's arms, peering up at Edwina with such innocent eyes that it nearly had the latter swooning. Kate had commented that she had a hunch that, once Edmund had been born, he would be spoiled rotten by just Edwina alone to which the princess had smiled cheerily and blew a series of wet kisses onto her nephew's round cheeks. With Friedrich in the picture, Mary had mentioned, the level of presents that her grandson had regularly received would double.
Whispering softly into her grandson's ears, she rocked him gently and watched as his long lashes flutter before he fell into a slumber against her chest. Anthony had offered to take the young boy from her, worrying that his boundless energy may tire her, but Mary had shook her head. "I had to raise Kate and Edwina, trust me, Edmund is a piece of cake compared to the two of them, especially when they started scheming with one another."
Anthony shook his head fondly. "Believe me, I've come to find that out. Those two are bound to come up with something if you leave them alone long enough."
"Is that so?" Came a voice. Anthony blanched but Mary could merely chuckle as Kate moved over to the pair, placing a loving kiss of her son's hairline and smiling warmly at her mother before regarding her husband with a raised brow. "You were saying dear husband?"
As Mary stared down at the sleeping boy as his parents playfully jested with one another, but couldn't help but trail her eyes toward her youngest, Edwina. Her sweet girl, who overcame such a challenging period in her life during her first season and those following, a period in which Mary had feared her daughter would never escape. But Edwina was always strong, both her girls were. And when Edwina had caught the eyes of a prince who, at first had left Mary on the fence as, even with his charm and respectful demeanor, her protective instincts kicked in and left her seeking nothing more than to hide Edwina from the world. It wasn't until she had witnessed Friedrich so fiercely defend Edwina from cruelty that she had a change of heart. Mary told him this at the wedding, and Friedrich had simply kissed her cheek and promised to protect and defend Edwina with everything he had, as well as love her as she deserved. It was second nature, he had said, like breathing.
When she looked at Edwina, carrying a sense of peace within herself that she had nearly lost, sharing such loving graces and glances with Friedrich, Mary could only wish that her own love was there to see how happy their daughters were. Hugging Edmund closer to her chest, Mary sighed fondly as she imagined another little pair of feet following after him, whether a boy or girl she could care less, but Mary hoped that they would have Edwina's sweet smile and doe eyes, as well as their father's head of curls and freckled cheeks. Such a cute baby the pair would have, Mary was sure but held small uncertainty with bringing up the fact with her youngest, who had found herself struggling with conceiving. She could remember how a downcast expression had been a more common sight on a usually more cheerful Edwina and it left Mary wanting nothing more than to wash it away.
"If I had to wish for something most dear," Mary had thought, "then it would to be for Edwina and Friedrich to be blessed with a gift such as I have had, all those years ago."
She could wish.
Mary furrowed slightly as she watched her youngest and son-in-law in question as they moved to a secluded corner, attempting to move away from any curious eyes. She had noticed how Friedrich had, after greeting all in attendance and charmingly waving off her protest at all the gifts he had brought with a simple kiss to her cheek and boyish wink, remained ever close to Edwina's side for most of the day save when she was beside Kate, who studied her sister with a curious eye. It wasn't necessarily unlike the prince to be so close with his dear princess, but Mary held a suspicion when she noticed Edwina only nibbled on small foods and drank tea with a subtle hint of ginger.
A small flutter of hope birthed in Mary's chest, and as she watched Friedrich gently place his palm over Edwina's stomach, eyes alight with a similar look that Mary's love had held when he had found out she was carrying, tears of pride and happiness bore from Mary's eyes even as she tried to swiftly hide them, for even though this was the best present that she could ask for, she would wait until Edwina was ready to share.
Her parents made her despise her birthdays. Her husband made her find joy in them. And her daughters, her beautiful and precious daughters, made her feel intense love that she would cherish to the end of her days.
"Mama," a series of hands grabbed her shoulders and Mary snapped out her daze to see her two girls sitting on either side of her, worry painting their expressions as they brushed crestfallen tears from their mother's face. Anthony and Friedrich stood before her, boh wearing looks of worry as Kate asked. "Are you all right?"
"Are you feeling ill?" Edwina nurturingly placed her hand against her mother's forehead, only to frown. "You don't feel warm."
Friedrich stepped forward, ducking his head slightly. "Would you like for Anthony and I to bring you something, ma'am?" At that, Anthony looked nearly ready to bolt for the nearest horse and ride to find the closest doctor when Mary had quickly waved them off, trying to smother their worry.
"Please, please, don't fret," she sent Friedrich a stern but soft look. "I thought I told you to call me mama?"
Friedrich only smiled at her words, forgetting in his concern for her, bowing his head in apology. "Forgive me. But, are you well?"
Mary reached to grab both her daughters' hands, all while still holding a sleeping Edmund, leaning to rest her head on Edwina's shoulder. "I am the happiest that I could ever be, and then some."
Kate and Edwina shared a knowing look, quickly reassuring their husbands that there was nothing to be concerned about before leaning into their mother's side.

Well, happy Holidays, nonny.
No 47 -“No one needs to know.”
I (won't) be home for Christmas
Tumblr media
By the time they slept together for the first time, Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma had known each other for around 10 years and had spent a good portion of that time swearing to anyone willing to hear that they hated each other. The worst part was that they had believed it as well.
_______________________________________________________________
Anthony and Kate get snowed in in a cabin in the mountains on December 23rd and apparently, if the snow keeps coming like that, they won't make it home in time for Christmas. But how do they explain that to their families, who have no idea they were away together, to begin with, and who think they still very much hate each other?
This is my humble holiday gift to y'all. I hope you enjoy it!
For @harnitbee, who has been a queen and an excellent support not only for my story but for the insanity of the holidays. You are the best and I cherish you so much <3
For my friends (@mimix007, @waterlilyrose, @ladystanbury,@suspendingtime, @jeanvanjer, @alihightowers, @kateandanthonyaremyparents) I love all of you more than anything and knowing you has been a highlight of my year and one of the best things that ever happened to me in this fandom. I would have given up on my writing long ago if it wasn't for y'all and I'm so thankful for you.
For everyone who reads my story, you are EVERYTHING to me. I love all your icon faces and funny names and knowing you like what I do gives me strength to go on when things suck. Thank you all so much, I hope to keep seeing you next year.
For my followers who celebrate the holidays, Happy Christmas and Happy New Year. For those who don't... Happy Friday, I guess?
I love you all so much, hope 2024 will be our year!

Day Five - word prompt 'notebook'
Edwina and Friedrich being adorable and reflect on childhood.
"What is this?"
Friedrich was holding up a small, old yet well preserved notebook wrapped in pink ribbon he had found with others in one of the trunks. Their children had been 'treasure hunting'.
But he could not believe what he had found.
Edwina's eyes widened as he walked into , "Give that to me. Now."
He held it above her head, dodging every attempt
"Friedrich!"
"The old works of Miss Edwina Sharma." Friedrich said, having read the neat label on the inside, no doubt written by her mother, "I cannot believe you had so many diaries." He began flicking through as Edwina threw her arms up in frustration, her face warm with embarrassment.
"Can a child not be allowed to muse?" Edwina said.
Friedrich suddenly stopped on a page and looked up at Edwina who narrows her eyes, "What have you found?"
He chuckled, "Requirements for a husband."
"I was six years old and asked by my governess to do so. Then she told me I was being silly." Edwina told him, "I do not even remember what I wrote!" She did not even wish to think about it! It was probably similar to what Alexandra, who at five years old was determined to prove the existence of fairies, would write.
"Well, let us see if I fulfill said list." Friedrich said seriously
"Please, we do not need to." Edwina beseeched but he sat down on the chaise lounge, dramatically clearing his throat and stretching out to begin the dissection of his wife's six year old mind.
"So, he must be tall and handsome - that is describing me in much detail." He listed, making her roll her eyes, "He must like dogs - we have five, I think I am doing very well - and must, and I quote 'trick a jinn.'"
Edwina groaned in embarrassment, "I had read many a fairy tales in which djinn and evil yashas were slain by handsome kings."
"Does this disqualify me?" Friedrich quipped.
"Your service in the war is enough."
He grinned at the next word. "You wanted a prince." He said, turning the book around so she could see her careful, slightly messy cursive as proof.
"I was six!"
"Ambitious from an early age, I admire that, lieben." He chuckled but his smile sobered as he read the final words on the page.
"What else did I write?" Edwina asked, noting he has stopped, "Should my husband have the ability to magic up cake for me?"
"My appa must love him." Friedrich read out carefully and her smile faded.
She made her way over to Friedrich who pulled her into his lap, as she looked over the tattered notebook.
"He died a few months after I wrote that list." Edwina said quietly, smiling ruefully, "I used to dream about him - at my wedding. Or being a grandfather and reading to my children as he used to do with me." He never changed in her dreams, always the same as she grew older.
Friedrich kissed her forehead and tucked her head under his chin as she sighed.
"I wish I could have met him." Friedrich murmured, "That he could have met the children."
Edwina smiles, looking up at him, "He would have liked you. I think. Your library and observatory at the very least."
He chuckled, "He would be welcome to them as he is family. And my inability to kill evil spirits?"
Edwina chuckled, wiping a stray tear from her eye, "He would have to let that go. But your inability to produce deserts out of thin air...?"
Friedrich laughed, "I shall work on that for you."

Nah but imagine Nothing Good Starts Kate and Anthony on a season of drive to survive.
Kate sitting down in front of the camera
“I’m Kate Sharma, I’m the principal engineer for Bridgerton Family Racing. I oversee the construction of the car essentially and its maintenance and any upgrades throughout the season and I also run race day for Anthony Bridgerton.”
And the interviewer prompts her, “Who is Anthony Bridgerton?”
Kate clears her throat, “He is the current Formula 1 world champion,” she pauses while a slow smile comes to her lips, “oh yeah, and he’s my husband.”
And Anthony sits down for his interviews, grinning , “I’m Anthony Bridgerton, I’m a driver for Bridgerton Family Racing, and Kate Sharma owns this moustache.”

Do you have Anthony Bridgerton fic recs (ideally gen, and ideally h/c)??? 👀
Oh my god DO I! Buckle up.
Don't let it show LemonSquash: The moment after Anthony Bridgerton heroically carries Kate back to the manor after her accident falling off the horse. Where Anthony Bridgerton runs out of the room, but this time Benedict follows him.
The World is Heavy Today by alostsock: When the Bridgertons don’t hear from Anthony for a few days, Benedict is sent to go find him, and is unnerved by what he finds.
Trouble Magnet by Victoria_52745: A collection of oneshots, mostly of the Bridgerton family taking care and comforting Anthony in various occasions just because I love vulnerable Anthony.
Indecent Proposal by coveredinbees (Fitzchivalry1122): Following a duel a few years previously, Anthony Bridgerton has been living a life of constant agony. He has not shown his face in society for years, and even his own family think him bitter and isolated. What he needs, he decides, is a distraction. And when he unwittingly propositions a fiercely independent Kate Sharma, a distraction is what he gets.
The Bridgerton Beneath by maisiec33: When Kate is made to accompany Mary, Edwina, and Lady Danbury on a week-long excursion to Aubrey Hall, she prepares herself for seven days of torment courtesy of the intolerable Viscount.Things quickly change, however, when she realises that perhaps there is more to Anthony Bridgerton than she first anticipated.
Anthony Bridgerton Whumptober 2022 by maisiec33: Our favourite Viscount is not having a good time.
Pieces by alostsock: A collection of mini one-shots centered around Anthony Bridgerton. Will likely be mostly angst/h/c/fluff. Trigger warnings for each chapter are in the chapter notes.
And on by alostsock: This can be considered a canon-divergent tag to 1x07, or you can just assume Anthony got into a random fight while drunk. Either way, this is a bit of the aftermath.
i'll keep your brittle heart warm by lymans: In the spring of 1830, Anthony suddenly falls ill while Kate is expecting their fourth child
Fallen Tree by WaterlilyRose: Anthony is in the drawing room with his siblings when he receives the news from Violet that Kate is awake
headstruck, heartstruck by ninzied: these hunts at aubrey hall never do seem to go quite as planned. based on the prompts: caught in a storm + tending to an injury.
nighttime tales by shewritesall: Anthony Bridgerton has had night terrors since the day he saw his father die, that is not new. What is new, however, is the way that they change shortly after his wedding day.
a thousand cuts by wall_e_nelson: A collection of non-linear one-shots, headcanons, AUs, and missing scenes for Anthony Bridgerton. (this story was written in the year between s1 and s2. the character is based in the little we knew of s1 show!Anthony, pulling the rest of him and the world needed from the books.)

Through the Storm
Tumblr media
Benedict Bridgerton, Anthony Bridgerton Ficlet <1k words Rated: G
Summary: Benedict's POV as Anthony rescues Kate.
Author's Notes: I played prompt roulette and got 'sad, Benedict, adrenaline'. This little canon idea popped into my head. The name and backstory of the valet Mr. Smith are the creation of @fayes-fics Enjoy 💙
Tumblr media
Benedict lauded Mr. Smith’s efforts to keep him safely covered with an umbrella but he wasn’t going to wait for the poor doddering man to keep up. He needed to reach Danbury House as quickly as his feet would carry him there. He didn’t know what on earth was going on, but the details were unimportant when he was certain that his brother needed him. Even his hangover was already forgotten, the one born from the prior night’s pity drinking after his family’s embarrassing non-event of a ball followed by Eloise’s public shaming which had left her crying in her bedchamber and unwilling to speak to anyone, even him. He had stationed himself outside her locked door to ward off any reprimands from Anthony or their mother, but drank enough from his prized flask that he hadn’t realized he had drifted off until Smith was half-carrying him into his own room. As he attempted a meager breakfast the next morning, looking out at the dreary downpour with his head in a vice, his valet had skidded into the house to inform him that Anthony was seen carrying Miss Sharma unconscious into Danbury House. Somehow just when his family had thought they were rounding the corner out of scandal and back into happiness, everything seemed to be falling apart.
He was dripping by the time he barreled into Lady Danbury’s foyer, Smith scuttling in behind him. He turned to interrogate a footman but then heard Anthony’s voice barking upstairs.
“She’s still shivering!”
That fearful timbre shot a jolt of adrenaline right down Benedict’s spine. It was the same voice that had cried for help from the lawn at Aubrey Hall, the one that had made him go numb with dread as he shepherded his siblings outside to witness a scene he somehow already knew would play out. Anthony never let his steely command slip unless something was terribly, terribly wrong. Blind to the footmen and maids who tried to guide or stop him, he bolted up the stairs toward the voice, toward the source of all commotion in the house.
Happily, the first person he saw as he entered the bedroom was Anthony, upright and seemingly unharmed. It was reassurance enough that he started to breathe again.
“What happened?” He turned to see Kate, soaked through and lying on the bed in a riding cloak, head lolling as a surgeon worked over her. “My valet saw you carry Miss Sharma inside. Is she alright?” As much as he hoped to blame a broken ankle or fainting spell for the state she was in, he knew in his gut something much more sinister had happened.
Anthony, haggard with no jacket and looking as if he had swum to the house, barely registered his appearance.
“I do not know,” his brother’s voice was hollow as he shook his head. His eyes never left Kate, filled with a rare desperation and fear. That was when Benedict knew that Anthony must be his focus. The surgeons would tend to Miss Sharma but his brother was his responsibility. There was a reason Smith had called for him when he saw the Viscount in distress. The man had worked for each of them in turn and knew how the younger could calm the moods of the elder.
Benedict clapped a steadying hand on Anthony’s shoulder. “Are you alright?”
Still his brother wouldn’t look at him. He looked instead at Kate’s mother and sister weeping in the corner of the room, at the surgeon’s bloodied fingers as he examined the back of her head. His jaw clenched in that way that signified he was barely maintaining composure.
“It’s my fault,” he rasped. “It is all my fault.” His voice wavered as his eyes continued to dart, taking in the scene of anguish, of mortal fear, one that they had both been a party to before. When his breath started to heave, Benedict knew his brother might slip beyond recall, might fall prey to one of his spells where he trembled and gasped like a man drowning on dry land.
“Anthony?” He tried to lock eyes with his brother, wrapping his arm tighter around his back so that he might guide his attention. “Anthony.” He felt his own desperation begin to swell as his calls fell on deaf ears. The Viscount’s chin quivered, his brows knitting as he surveyed the room one last time and then slipped out of his grasp and tore out the door with a grimace.
“Anthony!” Benedict moved after him but halted in the doorway, watching helplessly as his brother stalked down the hall. It was clear he didn’t want to be followed, clear he didn’t want help. As he had so many times before, he made the choice to contend with his demons in solitude, something Benedict would never deny him but something he feared Anthony was not as skilled at as he believed. Tight-lipped as Anthony was about the whole situation, it had become obvious to Benedict that he loved Kate, and the terror of seeing one you loved with their fate hanging in the balance was a burden he wanted to help shoulder. But he had been shut out. Ignored. His assistance rejected as it had been so many countless times that season. He had known it would be an eventful year when his brother committed to finding a wife but he had never expected the tempest of moods he had witnessed in Anthony, ones which Benedict was not permitted to navigate no matter how many times he tried. Nevertheless, he would stay. He would follow, steps behind his brother as he had always found himself in life, waiting. Waiting for the moment when Anthony needed him. Because while the Viscount watched over the rest of their family, he deserved someone to watch over him in return.

Betaed by iberiandoctor With an old-school fandom, I figured why not go for an old-school format?
Fic wittering and explanation of a sedoretu behind the read-more.
sedoretuex has revealed, and I can now reveal that I wrote TWO stories! (I have not yet had time to read any stories but my own--I have been really busy this January--but I am planning on making my way through the collection soon.)
My second story for this exchange was a pinch hit for tielan that I had been eyeing for treat purposes since the beginning, because our tastes are very similar and every one of her ideas was amazing and absolutely a story I wanted to exist. But there was a problem! Each one of those stories, my feeling was "I want that to exist, but I don't know if I can do justice to it."
Here were my main options:
1) Relationship and prompt I have written for tielan before (MCU, Steve/Maria/Natasha/Bucky, the previous fic being Look Clear and Calm)
2) Really interesting relationship and prompt from a TV show I've only seen sporadic episodes of (Simon Basset/Anthony Bridgerton/Daphne Bridgerton/Kate Sharma (Bridgerton TV), The oldest son and oldest daughter of the Bridgerton family finding and settling on a sedoretu husband and wife for their familial quartet. In the middle of the season. With the ton looking on.)
3) Relationship I requested myself and would really like to se done, but I requested it because I'm not sure of my ability to write it and the canon is a TV show I haven't watched in almost 2 decades. (BSG, Lee/Kara/Sam/Dee)
4) Relationship I already wrote for this ficathon for my original assignment. (Star Wars Legends, Luke/Mara/Leia/Han, the other fic being Dawning Understanding)
And these were just the top four. There were 13 requested quartets and I could have written 10 of them! I was spoiled for choice! Honestly, it was a little bit paralyzing.
But in the end, I went with BSG, and decided that Wikipedia would have to be enough canon review. And it really did write itself; everything poured out. As always, for me, Dee was going to have a major role and survive; I love her and she was done so dirty by canon. Her death was the first time I got incandescently angry about a fridging because I could see it for what it was. And of the relationships in this foursome, Lee/Kara is my least favorite. (I am glad that in Kara we got to have a female character who was fucked up and messy and not punished for it or considered 'whiny,' but at the same time, there were a lot of other fucked up and messy female characters on that show, and a lot of the other character arcs interested me more than 'cosmic destiny + will she and Lee ever get their act together.' But I know that Lee/Kara is tielan's favorite! So as I was plotting out each section I had to restrain myself: how much Dee was too much? What could I find to say about the other three? Because if I was writing it for myself, the balance would have been very different. (But I think it would have been a weaker story, less balanced.)
A sedoretu is a specific organization of a poly marriage created by Ursula K. Le Guin in her short story "A Fisherman of the Inland Sea" aka "Another Story" available in a 1994 short story collection of the same name. It includes four people and specific arrangements of the relationships inside it. All people have a "moiety" that is considered as inherent as gender; the two moieties are Morning and Evening. Sex with someone of the same moiety is considered incest. The expected relationships within each sedoretu are: The Morning woman and the Evening man (the “Morning marriage”) The Evening woman and the Morning man (the “Evening marriage”) The Morning woman and the Evening woman (the “Day marriage”) The Morning man and the Evening man (the “Night marriage”) (i.e. two homosexual and two heterosexual pairings)
Here is the Fanlore explanation of it and the E2 explanation.

Okay, but Mary and Kate interrogating Friedrich whilst Edwina sighs longingly would be hilarious.
Lol, this is perfect! I have so many ideas for this prompt so I'm, quite literally, restricting myself from making this so long 😭. I hope the interrogation aspect was to your liking, as well as everything else. It does have a spicy moment but it's very brief.
Tumblr media
In retrospect, Edwina should have been better prepared for this moment. She honestly should have. When she and Friedrich had first met, almost instantly finding some form of comfort within one another and arranging to see one another more and more, the latter hadn't exactly made it known that he was royalty let alone a prince or the nephew of the queen at that. Rather, he had concealed his identity ("simply call me Friedrich in public, and whatever your heart desires in private").
Edwina would never admit this, but she did squeal very childishly into her pillows that night after.
When the truth had been revealed albeit abruptly when Friedrich, now wearing the identity of the crown prince of Prussia, had immediately locked his gaze on to her and sought to spend most of the ball of the season hosted by Lady Danbury, who Edwina swore had, whilst watching the pair dance the night away, whispered something into Queen Charlotte's ears and had left them both wearing Cheshire cat smiles in response. Not that either would admit it.
And though Edwina had been discouraged by the reveal (she was so tired of things be kept from her, as that ended so well the last time), Friedrich, to her shock, practically fell to his knees before her when they were able to sneak away and expressed his sincerities over hurting her. "That was the last thing that I ever wanted to do," he swore, holding her hand to his chest. "Forgive me, liebling, but I wanted to stay in the moment where I was just a simple man who met a woman who claimed his heart from the start. Without the weighted of my royal status hanging over us."
The pair had been swept up in a form of passion that night, where Edwina had experienced things that had left her desiring the prince more and more (and him the same). But there was something else too. Something that she could distinctly remember dreaming over when she was a little girl, her parents and sister telling stories of how it would one day happen to her, something that she had feared wouldn't following her failed season. She was in love, and it was a beautiful thing.
But back to the situation at hand. Following their shared night together, Friedrich had promptly made his presence known at the Danbury residents with a series of flowers and gifts---for herself, her sister, her mother, and Lady Danbury. When he had confessed that he had wished to court Edwina, publicly that is but no needed to know that outside of them, Edwina couldn't help the butterflies in her stomach as they burst when his gaze fell on her.
To her surprise, however, her sister and mother shared little of the same sentiment. The bare had briefly shared a glance and it wasn't before long that Edwina knew that they would take more winning over to be impressed. Relaying some of her shared time with the prince prior hadn't helped as much either, as Mary had nearly sent Friedrich from the Danbury residents with threats of meeting at dawn had Edwina not interfered and provided a more informed explanation. And while Mary had been reassured, she very sternly (caring little for the fact that she was speaking to a prince) commented that any meetings between the pair would be chaperoned accordingly and no longer will secret meetings take place.
Edwina sighed in acceptance to the former as, with a swift shared look with Friedrich, it had been silently agreed that their secret meetings would still transpire. She could only hope that they would be successful as her mother's keen eyes would follow them everywhere, that Edwina was sure of.
Kate, while feeling some form of peace that her sister would be well taken care of, held no knowledge of who Friedrich was as a person outside of being a prince and set off to fill in as many blanks as she could. And while Friedrich had answered every one of her, many, questions with relatively diplomatic expertise, Kate still remained hardly convinced. When Friedrich had mentioned that he enjoyed horse riding and hunting, Kate gave him little time before announcing that they should set off tomorrow morning and put that notion to the test as what better way to get to know more about the man who wishes to court her sister.
When they returned, Friedrich discussed little of what he and her sister had talked about before leaving a kiss on her head and disappearing into the night, with a drawn out sigh Edwina had decided to seek Kate out.
"It's just that I don't him, Bon. It was rather of a shock to discover a man standing in Lady Danbury's home with the intent to court you. But then I find out that he is a prince as well, adding on to the fact that you too have known each other for longer-"
Edwina quickly cut in before her sister could overwhelm herself. "I know he hid his identity from me, and I will not lie and say that it did not hurt. But I understand now, Kate, as had I'd known than what the two of us have now would have been weighed down during its developing stages. This is a better alternative."
"I just wish to know more about him is all, prince or not I have to make sure that he can provide for you." Kate placed a hand on Edwina's cheek. "In more than just luxuries but for your heart as well. I know that things had been...tense for a period of time, and we have healed from it, but you will always be my sister and I cannot help but worry."
Edwina simply smiled. "And I love you for it, even more for giving me the chance to take care of this myself. While Friedrich is more than capable of caring for me with his status, I have long since come to find out that he'll care for my heart as well."
It was still evident that the prince still had work to be done in regard to winning over her family, but much to both of their surprise a series of acts would assist them in that process. First had been during a viewing at the opera where Friedrich had sat alongside Edwina with the rest of the Bridgertons, chatting ideally with her in-laws and whispering to her in French when he was sure that no one would catch. During a break in the show, Edwina had moved with Francesca and Eloise to the powder room in hopes of freshing up when she felt the sense of dread that had become all to familiar following her failed season.
Lord Charles and other men of high society muttered jeers and hardly concealed stabbing comments her way, watching her with amusement that could only be found in men who held nothing better to do than humiliate women. Edwina held her head high, doing her best to tune out their comments even as Eloise had sought to give them a peace of her mind. Edwina, however, wished to take no part.
That did not mean that Friedrich thought the same.
The matter was relatively a blur, if Edwina was being honest, as she watched from afar as Friedrich had appeared behind the group of men with a faux cheery deposition with his eyes sharp enough to cut. A bitting smile on his face did not change, but the once arrogant posture of Lord Charles and the men around him dropped and became one of embarrassment and, if Edwina looked close enough, possibly even fear?
When Friedrich left the pair and returned to Edwina's side, he gave off little input on what had just transpired. "We simply talked about how it wasn't appropriate for gentlemen talk about ladies in such a manner, and that they should refrain from doing so. Especially toward you."
Edwina knew that that wasn't the whole story but quickly halted her series of questions when she noticed her mother and sister looking over at the pair, this time with mirroring pride and approval in their eyes. It didn't take long for Edwina to find a mischievous Eloise by their side, who Edwina was sure had informed them of everything that had happened.
"Liebling?" Friedrich questioned when he did not receive a response.
Edwina sighed, reaching to loop their arms together as they moved back to their seats and prepared for the show to start again. "I think you just gained my sister's and mother's approval."

there are sincerely not enough conservatory ball Kanthony AUs so here’s my contribution with a prompt:
Conservatory Ball AU where Anthony & fam arrive at the ball but Violet wants to say hello to Lady Danbury first and as they gather together, that’s when Lady Danbury introduces the Bridgerton family clan to the Sharma ladies and Anthony’s all distracted and giddy like “oh it’s you” and Kate tries to be dismissive meanwhile at the same time, Violet is talking to Danbury & Mary and then does her loud announcement of “the Viscount intends to marry this season” and Anthony does his whole scandalized/annoyed “Mother!” And then they watch as the ladies of the ton descend upon them all for Anthony and Anthony looks to Kate and is like “actually Miss Sharma has already acquired my first dance. Pardon us, ladies.” Cue Kate wanting to disagree and Lady Danbury hitting her leg with her cane and then Kanthony sharing their first dance. :)

Story Prompt: There's a world you need to know 🎨 🎹 🎶
Tumblr media
Kate, inspired by her birth mother's art legacy, is a music and art therapist as well as a semi-famous mural artist. She's hired by Violet to help Gregory and Hyacinth deal with the loss of the father they never knew, which Kate feels particularly well equipped to do given her own family history.
---
"Mother, who is that in there with Greg and Hy?"
"Oh! That's Kate. She's the children's new music and art therapist."
"...music and art therapist..."
"Don't start. I had a meeting with their teachers--"
"When was this? Why wasn't I there?"
Violet blinks at him. "I'm capable of tending to my children's education without you, Anthony. I am their mother, after all."
Anthony pinches the bridge of his nose. Not the time, he reminds himself. Not the time.
"I apologize. That's not what I meant to imply. What did their teachers say?"
"The children have been... talking a lot. About their father. And Hyacinth in particular has been withdrawn lately. Both of them have been receiving lower marks--"
"Then we'll replace their tutors."
"That's not the problem, Anthony. We're actually quite lucky that Ms. Sharma was available. She comes highly recommended. She works with several students at Hyacinth and Gregory's school and all over Kent."
Kate Sharma, was it? Right.
---
Anthony didn't think he looked particularly imposing as he leaned against the wall, waiting for the kids' "therapy session" to be over, but apparently he did as Kate Sharma started at his presence when she saw him, dropping her bag. They both dove to get it.
"Allow me," Anthony said. It sounded more like an order than an offer.
"No, thanks. I have it," Kate mumbled.
As they stood, Anthony finally got a good look at her face.
"Yes?"
"Pardon?
"You're staring at me."
"Oh, um, sorry." He extended his hand.
"Anthony, Viscount Bridgerton."
Kate scoffed but took his hand, shaking briefly but confidently.
"Kate Sharma."
She turned to leave, and Anthony felt the inexplicable urge to keep talking to her.
"How, um... did the session, uh, go?"
"You don't have to do this."
"What?"
"I know you think what I do is bullshit."
"No, I don't. I just--"
"It's fine, I'm used to it. Thankfully, it doesn't stop me from being really fucking good at my job. Anyway, your mother warned me about you."
"She--? Right. Um... Sorry, but can I just ask what training you need for this... job?" If any, he thought in his head.
Kate rolled her eyes, pulling out a folder and unceremoniously pushing it at him.
"I have degrees in Music, Music Therapy, and Art Psychotherapy. I'm registered with Health and Care Professions Council and a member of the British Associations of Art Therapy and Music Therapy."
Anthony flipped through the contents of the folder, everything corroborating what she'd just said. "How old are you?"
"Excuse me?"
He sheepishly handed the folder back. "I'm sorry. You're just very... accomplished. You always carry your credentials with you?"
"When I'm working, yes. Like I said, I'm used to people like you."
"Like me?"
"I really need to go. I have other clients to dupe into giving me money for playing with their children."
"That's not at all--"
She tossed over her shoulder, "Violet seems happy with my work, so I'm afraid you'll be seeing me again, Viscount."
Anthony was sort of dazed. What the fuck just happened?
"Holy shit, was that THE Kate Sharma?" Eloise all but shouted.
"The?"
"Of course you haven't heard of her, you uncultured swine. What in the world was she doing here?"
"She's... a child therapist. A... famous one, I guess?" Anthony squinted at his sister.
"Ugh, you're hopeless. She's also the best mural artist this side of London. You've never read My Mother's Daughter?"
Anthony looked back down the hallway where Kate Sharma disappeared. Huh.

Bridgerton Rebirth Idea
This prompt was inspired after reading the fabulous works of @thekatebridgerton and @daughter-of-sea-and-wisdom . You guys are amazing and thank you for inspiring me!
Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth grew up together in modern times in the same orphanage. None of them were ever adopted and so they remained close even after they got their own places. Although their personalities are different, one thing they share in common is their love for a book series called: Bridgerton. While this did attract them all to the series there was a bigger element that kept them all entranced: the second love interest. While they all know from the summary of each book who the main love interests are, they find themselves more attracted to the secondary love interests. The chemistry between them and their respective Bridgerton were so good that it made them heartbroken when they didn’t wind up together. Even worse is how the love rivals aren’t even evil, they just stand by and smile sadly as their loved one marries another and lives happily ever after.
Daphne adored the slightly flirtatious conversation between Simon and her character, going so far as to skip the scenes with the main couple to get to his parts. She was honestly sobbing when her character married Prince Friedrich, not because the two lovers had come together after so many obstacles, she could care less about that. What got her was how the Duke of Hastings gave her a bracelet to wear for her wedding day, not telling her that was an item always worn by the Duchess of Hastings for generations. “For though Daphne Bridgerton might be becoming a princess that day, she would always be the Duchess of Simon’s heart.” That line made Daphne ball her eyes out.
Anthony on the other hand nearly threw his book out the window. While he understood his character’s attachment to Siena Rosso, with Kate he was able to let his walls down and the banter between the two was spectacular. She understood his commitment to his family and the trauma from his fathers death. Siena being the runaway daughter of a Baron felt like a weak plot point put in so the two characters could get married. He actually did throw his book when his character didn’t even bother to chase after Kate on the day she was to go back to India, instead focusing on a minor argument he had with his new wife Siena. “As Anthony Bridgerton kissed his wife amid the thunderous applause of the theater, Kate Sharma looked towards the rising sun on the horizon and felt her heart lighten as well. She may never love another as she loved Anthony Bridgerton but she would cherish the memories he gave her as she looked towards the future.” When Benedict came to borrow the book from him, Anthony threw it at his face.
Benedict didn’t understand why Anthony was so upset until he got through his own book and considered burning it afterwards. Sophie, in his humble and unbiased opinion, was an angel that his character did not deserve. After saving her years before from a bad situation, Sophie has been a constant in his life. She always tells him what she thinks, takes care of him when he’s sick and encourages him in his art. When he thinks he’s found his lady in silver, a mysterious painter who turns out to be a shy wallflower, she goes undercover as a ladies maid to help bring the two lovers together. Modern Benedict wants to scream when his character declares his love for his fellow artist even after he knows she’s not his lady in silver. “Sophie Beckett never revealed the truth behind the lady in silver or the mystery model to the Bridgertons. Instead she was content to act as governess to the family's children, knowing that she helped make two wonderful people wonderfully happy.” He stopped reading after that book, muttering how the author is blind to romance.
Colin had been the most optimistic out of everyone, thinking his character would surely end up with their sweet childhood friend Penelope. I mean the two have been friends since they were young and Penelope helped him escape his mothers nagging each season and would write to him constantly throughout his travels. His character even has a line in Benedict’s book about how Penelope is the one of the few things in his life that he can not lose. He really should have read the back cover summary. Perhaps then he would have been prepared for the return of Marina Crane nee Thompson, his character's first love who broke their engagement due to pressure from her family and married another man, even giving birth to his two children. His heart sank as Penelope helped the two wayward lovers come together once more even as her own heart was breaking. “Penelope smiled sadly amid the crowd of well wishers as Colin and Marina headed towards their honeymoon. While Colin Bridgerton would never be hers, he had taught her that she was someone worthy of love and perhaps one day she might come to love another as much as she loved him.” He donated the book to a library the next day, and then spent the rest of it watching the Great British Bake Off while eating a tub of ice cream.
Eloise was never one for romance novels but something about Sir Philip Crane stood out to her. He was nerdy and awkward but a wonderful uncle to his brother's children and a fabulous correspondent. When her character had decided to enter into a marriage with him and the two even seemed like they would be the endgame, she felt a bit smug that she could hold this book over the other’s heads. Afterall, Philip is mentioned on the back cover and has a blurb so she really doesn’t see how Theo Sharpe’s return is going to change anything. Oh how wrong she was. Eloise had to check to make sure there wasn’t a sequel to her book, one that continued with the current story, after her character leaves Sir Philip the day before their wedding to head off to Gretna Green with her first love. “He stood there in the doorway, long after Eloise’s carriage had disappeared from sight. For so long his father made him believe that no one would ever love him and yet Eloise Bridgerton had managed to prove his father wrong. Perhaps his father would think him a fool for letting her go so easily but Philip knew that to truly love someone meant putting their happiness above your own. And he may never love again as he loved Eloise but he would never regret even a second spent in her company.” Eloise offered to hold a book destroying event at her and Fran’s apartment.
It's a well known fact that Francesca loves a good love triangle and her book delivers. She’s kept reading each book in the series for glimpses of her character with her childhood friends John Sterling and his cousin Michael. Though her character’s crush on John is obvious, Francesca kept her fingers crossed that Michael would be the one she picked. I mean think about it! After years of pining after sweet oblivious John Sterling, she enlists the help of his cousin Michael to help get him to see her as a woman. Their lessons turned very heated at times and she was confident in who her character would choose. Only for John and Francesca to declare their undying love for each other and fall into bed together within three chapters. It honestly blindsided her. The author kept pointing out how Michael loved Francesca and hinted at it in every other book but mentioned very little of John's feelings till halfway through! The worst scene though was when Michael walks into the stables only to find Francesca locked in a heated embrace with John! “Michael thought of the story of King Solomon and the baby, could recall the vicar dramatically telling the story now. He knew he could still declare his feelings for Francesca, reveal what had been in his heart since they were young. But he would not force her to choose and would not destroy his relationship with the two most important in his life. Rather than confront the couple, he slowly backed away and headed back towards the lake.” Francesca was practically in tears, whimpering and begging the character to go after Michael. Unfortunately, the book ends with the main couple married as Michael goes off to fight in the oncoming wars, his future uncertain.
Hyacinth and was more confused when reading her book. What was the point in her character spending so much time helping Gareth St. Clair just so she can marry her brother Gregory’s friend, Richard Abernathy? It literally makes no sense! Okay so she understands that the character had a crush on Richard after Gregory introduced to him the family but kept messing up around him making her worried that he’ll think she’s too wild. With Gareth she was able to be herself and he appreciated her brilliant mind. Even when he’s helping her impress Richard, he tells her that a real man will love her for who she is. Oh sure Richard tells her he loves her just the way she is but it still felt like her namesake was holding herself even at the end. “As the happy couple launched into their first dance as husband and wife, Gareth watched them feeling a bit detached. All this time he’d been searching for answers, for the possible hidden treasure when he’d had a diamond in front of him all along. And just like his family's treasure, Hyacinth was now lost to him forever.” You can bet that the moment she finished that book, Hyacinth started writing fanfiction on Tumblr to fix the ending.
Gregory was the last of them to start reading the series and his friends did not prepare him! All they said was not to read the summaries but he decided to just skip to his book. The set up at the start seemed obvious. Lucy Abernathy, in love with her brother's best friend Gregory and the two are in laws now after Richard marries Hyacinth. She’s sarcastic and funny but sweet at the same time. But no, instead Gregory falls in love at first sight with Hermione Watson as they work together to save Lucy from her uncle's schemes. “ Lucy Abernathy had entered the season expecting to marry one man while being in love with another. And though the man she loved was now heading on his honeymoon with her best friend, she was glad that something good had come out of this mess. ‘Be happy you two,’ she whispered into the wind, knowing that her friends could not hear but hoping her prayer would still be heard.” Gregory may have sent Hyacinth a request on tumblr to fix the ending.
At one of their weekly gatherings, the friends are sitting in a bar ranting about the series when a woman interrupts them.
“Are you by chance talking about the Bridgerton series? I’ve heard it’s quite the hit,” she asks as Eloise snorts.
“Oh, parts of it are. Fair warning though the main love interests suck,” she snipes as the older woman raises an eyebrow.
“Is that so? How disappointing, I do love a good love story,” she sighs as Francesca smiles sympathetically.
“Believe me, it would be a far better love story if they ended up with the other love interest. The main ones are more bland than anything else,” Francesca replies as Hyacinth hums in agreement.
“I could write a much more exciting love story than what was given,” she sighs and the woman smiles oddly at them.
“Perhaps you could, my dear, perhaps you all could. Thank you for humoring me but I must be off,” she says before walking out. That night the friends all retire to their homes early.
However when they wake up the next morning, they discover themselves in an old fashioned home wearing old fashioned clothes. Even more curious is they have memories of living in this house and of the lovely brunette woman who is apparently their mother Lady Violet Bridgerton. The moment they hear that name it clicks. They’ve somehow been reborn into the world of Bridgerton and are remembering their memories from their past lives in modern London.
Later that night they meet in the library and figure out that they have a few months before the start of the first book. Without saying anything, everyone comes to a similar conclusion: this time they’ll make sure their characters end up with the right person.
I’ll probably write more of this if there is interest and feel free to send me any questions or requests. Even if it’s not about this AU. I may also post what the original books summaries were for the series so people have a better idea of what the original plots were.

semi-closed starter for the members of the sharma family
not a group thread!

Much to his frustration, a small bout of illness which turned out to be nothing more than simple hay fever, some sort of head cold brought on with the changing of seasons had kept Rakesh bedbound while the race day festivities carried on awhile ways. Now, his family had returned, and though he was not nearly back to his full energy, the King was feeling well enough to attend a late breakfast. " I want to know everything I missed. " He prompted, once he'd sat && poured his tea, and began to fold his oat dosa. Everything he did seemed to be deliberate, slow, intentional. It was his way. A smile, a ghost of what used to be a light in the room, graced his lips. It was not the same King that were alive a few years prior, but a shell of him. " The worst losers, biggest winners, and most interesting gossip. "
