Please let me drop this idea here so it gets out of my head:

Shayne and Courtney as high school teachers (S teaches psychology, C teaches film) and that’s how they meet. They’re both the kind of teacher that the kids know they can come to and talk to about anything, they both have such a good environment in their rooms, and they meet at a staff meeting or something and vibe right away. They visit each others classrooms all the time, their students are SO sus about them, and the vibes are absolutely immaculate.

Sometimes one of them will come in early and help the other set up for a project, they eat lunch together in each others classrooms, it’s a whole thing ™️

i'm such a simp for teacher aus not even kidding, this is such a good idea!! they would so be the type of teachers the students would adore, that's so real. and i can totally see their students trying to set them up like messing up the projector so courtney has to ask shayne for help because somehow all technology loves him, her simping over his massive fucking arms as he tries to fix the damn thing because *somehow* its always breaking.

shayne would also so be the type to randomly walk into court's classroom to ask for stationary- even if he has his own all organised- just because he doesn't really know how else to talk to them, so he'll just show up sometimes asking for a marker and hoping the conversation between them lasts forever..

ahhhh would love to write this someday, but sadly it'll be a while before i write more fic, i really need a break (despite how hard i try to tell myself i dont), but to all my talented writer moots out there, this is some gold right here!!

Hey welcome back and Happy New Year.

Thank you for all the work you do for the fandom. Honestly, Shourtney has really sparked the romantic in me. It has come my Roman Empire, lol. I've been trying to write a Shourtney fanfic because Shourtney is possibly one of the cutest stories ever and a classic troupe of co - stars to friends to lovers. So here's my idea, I wonder if folks would be interested.

Shayne asks Courtney to marry him but Courtney is unsure. When they both get the opportunity of their dreams they decide to break up. Courtney gets to working with a famous director. Shayne books a lead role for a big indie film. Things happen quickly, Courtney announces, leaving Smosh first. During her after party, Shayne and her have not spoken much, but they quickly end up sleeping with one another, but she still leaves.

Shayne announces, leaving Smosh soon afterwards. At the end of Shayne’s farewell party, Spencer gives Shayne unedited behind-the-scenes footage of all the moments he had with Courtney since they started at Smosh.  Shayne falls asleep watching the video and is guided by past and present Smosh cast and crew through the moments Shayne and Courtney had together(a la Christmas Carol).

i totally agree with the vast majority of what you posted about shayne and courtney and fans entitlement to their private lives. i dislike that the fandom so heavily sees things through a 'shipping' lens - angela and damien look at each other for more than three seconds, so here's fourteen fics about them fucking. like it's so deranged and so so strange and fundamentally unfair for everyone involved.

it is the same when people want them all to be best friends irl so bad it causes them genuine distress when they say 'we're just co-workers who have a good time'. i understand parasocial relationships and am aware that some are closer than others (some are married i've heard lol) but if it makes you want to keel over and die to hear arasha call courtney her co-worker...genuinely seek help, that's not good for you.

as someone who came back in the buy-back era and who was a fan at the height of the defy shourtney shipping era, i think it's okay to be like 'aww in videos i always thought they had chemistry!' but the stalking, obsessive stuff is unhealthy at best and wrong at worst.

i worry now about the hyper-focus that will be put on shayne and courtney in videos, both together and apart. i think it's super brave of them to go public (also something they may have felt they had to do, given public records) and i hope that people will be able to dial in to respect them and their relationship!!

Bro I can’t even IMAGINE what the “fans” are going to act now. I mean, I can, and it doesn’t look good.

Im calling it now, if the “fans” will keep an even closer look on Courtney’s body now. They will try to prove a pregnancy and I think that will be worse than what it has already been. If there’s an actual pregnancy that somehow gets announced this year, how much you wanna bet that they will use the time Amanda mentioned a smosh baby to prove they were right and knew all along?

If this weren’t Shayne and Courtney, who had to endure stalkers, harassment, unwanted sexual advances from fans, fanfics written about them, people speculate their relationship by every single interaction they had at work, I would have just gone “omg, so cool! Good for them”, but this poor couple had to hide their relationship, hide an engagement! Courtney wasn’t able to wear a goddamn engagement ring, all to protect their privacy.

Im happy for them but again, heartbroken by the fandom once again.

Anyway, all these posts, fights and interactions made me resent the channel I’ve watched for more than a decade so quickly it was actually shocking. Which fucking sucks cause smosh has never been about romantic relationships and this news shouldn’t have affected the fandom for better or for worse.

Im gonna take a step back from the company, at least for now. I’ve unsubscribed to all the channels and unfollowed everyone. I hope I can get back to watching them but for now I legit feel icky, as stupid as it sounds.

I also learned my lesson for good, never ever interact with the rest of the smosh fans, it’s almost never worth it.

seeing the recent shourtney wedding posts made me think that we'll never have something like this with ianthony. yes shipping jokes are funny but I feel something of this magnitude is not possible with them. not assuming anyone's sexuality but for starters ian has made it known several times that he's straight. I think the beauty of their relationship reflects in the best way platonically. their shipping/fanfic trope to me is just filled with slow burn, angst and longing. the type where you're getting old, on a rocking chair, your grandson's rummaging through your drawer and finds an old picture of you and your best friend and asks about him, and at that moment you look at that picture and the memories of your teenage years and more keep flashing and you realize- "maybe it was something more".

This literally made me cry can you not pls.

Hey! I’m new to shourtney tumblr but just wanted to say hi to you and everyone and that I’m so glad I just found all the shourtney stuff and your account and the others! I love all the posts about them and have only in the last few weeks got really back into smosh and then realised how much I absolutely love them together and can’t help but ship them! 😬 (I always try not to ship real life people and always fail but I swear I am always right about my gut feelings on people/relationships! 😂) anyway it makes me happy and I’m so happy people like you are still talking about them and convincing me they are a thing and making me feel less alone with how much I’m obsessing over them both haha. Department of Weird Sounds: She's probably the last one that still writing Shourtney fanfiction till today. Her oneshot is the GOAT because she actually using real life event (Ex. Shelby's 30th birthday, UTM, Lego stream etc.) as the base of story and adding some a little bit of What If? in there. I really recommend reading everything that she wrote. it's amazing.

scaredcrow35: This one is on Wattpad but it's pretty recently update last year. Only 2 chapters but I loved the writing style so much.

tintintintin73: Getting into older one here. I love this one espcially the last chapter "unintentional". Not many people writing future fic so it's special in that way!

Claraandthedoctor: Another older one on Wattpad. There's some AU in there but it's another good fluffy one!

Ok hello I have some THINGS I have to say about the fanfiction video

It took me a whole ass two hours to watch the video because I kept getting second hand embarrassment so bad that I had to take breaks

The ūñçömførtâbłè energy during the shaymien one made me want to DIE

The shourtney one was just funny as fuck

Like— Shayne and Courtney were SOOO used to this by now

And Keith’s acting was GOD TIER

Honestly I think Keith is the best actor out of all of them. Like he needs to get into film or something
