Sometimes i think about how i spent years growing with so many people and how we would hold each other and talk about our futures together and now almost none of us speak to eachother anymore.
It feels like a waste now, but maybe its better this way. I dunno.

a/n: tysm to solaris for coming up with this writing event!! this was really fun for me to do because it’s very different from what i usually write. this was supposed to go up at the beginning of august but life became really crazy for me starting mid-july lmao. better late than never i guess but so sorry for the late upload. hope you enjoy and let me know what you think! :-)
Tumblr media
When you finally arrive at your childhood home, you’re not at all surprised to see 2 cars parked in front of your house and your group of friends sprawled out on your front lawn, all of them laughing and smiling as they wait for you. You were the last of your friends to get home after finishing your second year of university (shoutout to your organic chemistry professor for having a final exam on a Saturday) and you were lucky you didn’t get pulled over because of how eager you were to get home. It was a tough semester and you really need to not think about school for a few months. You wave at the boys through the car window when they see you pull into your driveway, all of them running over to greet you before you’ve even had a chance to get out of your car.
Jimin is the first to greet you as he practically pulls you out of the vehicle to wrap his arms around you. His sounds of excitement make you laugh as you pat his back. “It’s nice to see you too, Jimin,” you say to him, laughing harder when he starts to shake you back and forth from just how happy he is to see you.
Hoseok hugs you next, and you only have a few seconds after Jimin has released you before you’re swallowed up in another bear hug. This one is a bit tighter and you feel the breath get knocked out of you as the older boy whines, “(Y/N), I missed you so much! I’m already sick of the guys so thank goodness you’re finally home!”
“Good to know that the feeling is mutual then,” Yoongi says as he pulls you out of Hoseok’s grip. You’re enveloped in a much looser, but still just as warm, hug and you wrap your arms around the male’s waist, the first of your friends that you choose to hug back (well, more like the first of your friends who didn’t trap your arms to your sides, thus allowing you to hug them back). Also just because it’s Yoongi.
Seokjin and Namjoon both greet you with a “Welcome home” and hugs of their own and you have to stop yourself from burying your face in their chests because of how much they smell like home. Namjoon even pats your head while he hugs you and a chuckle escapes you at that; he must have really missed you.
Jungkook practically tackles you as he runs up and scoops you up into his arms, swinging you around as he cackles maniacally. As excited as you are to see him, you’re not exactly sure why he’s laughing like that and frankly, you’re too scared to ask. You’ve known Jungkook the longest out of the 7 of them and you know that that laugh means bad news. You’re gonna have to ask him what he’s been scheming about later.
“Can I please hug my girlfriend now?” Taehyung asks, the exasperation in his voice contrasting with the huge grin on his face. He’ll let the guys have their time now because now that you’re home, you’re all his for the next couple of months. Jungkook lets out an exaggerated vomiting sound while he puts you down, the rest of the boys already opening up your car to help you unload your things while you approach your boyfriend with heart eyes.
“Hey there, stranger,” you greet him and you can’t help but let out a relieved sigh when he finally wraps his arms around you to pull you into a hug. Going to different universities along with having packed schedules kept you and Taehyung apart for longer than you liked, another reason for your eagerness to get home after your last final this morning. Standing here with his arms around you, his scent invading your senses, his warmth seeping through your clothes—it’s everything you’ve ever wanted.
“Please don’t have a busy semester like that ever again,” he says quietly, his cheek resting against the top of your head as he rubs his hands up and down your back. “I nearly died because I couldn’t see you as often as I wanted to.”
“Same goes for you then,” you retort as you pull your head away from his chest to look up at him with narrowed eyes. “I wasn’t the only one with a busy semester, Mr. TA-with-2-Jobs. You’re also at fault here.”
Taehyung is about to reply but is interrupted by Jimin physically separating the two of you so that Seokjin and Yoongi could place boxes into your hands. “You two are also at fault for just standing there making goo-goo eyes at each other while the rest of us unload the car,” Jimin scolds you guys as he rolls his eyes. The three of them all but push you towards your front door, your family watching in amusement from inside. “Get a move on, lovebirds, I want to go to 7-11 after this for some ramen before I get hangry.”
Tumblr media
“You did not just suggest that,” Seokjin groans, interrupting Hoseok after only one sentence. “I can’t believe you really said that.”
The 8 of you are sitting on the curb outside of a 7-11 eating your respective dinners, the buzzing of the neon sign and the chatter from people walking providing nice background noise for your first hangout of the summer. You stifle your laughter by shoving more noodles into your mouth, while Taehyung and Jungkook do nothing to silence theirs beside you.
“There’s nothing wrong with going to the carnival, we go every year!” Hoseok protests. Well, more like whines, to be honest. Using that tone of voice usually worked in his favor but Seokjin’s unamused expression didn’t seem to be leaving his face any time soon.
“That’s the point, we go every year,” Namjoon points out, pointing his chopsticks at Hoseok for emphasis. “Dude, we just graduated from college, don’t you think we’re a little old to be going to our town’s carnival?”
“Besides, it’s not even good anymore,” Yoongi says through a mouthful of noodles. “They’ve been getting rid of the good rides so the only fun part about it is the funnel cake and I guess the Ferris wheel if you’re into that.”
Jungkook lets out a sound of protest, holding up a finger to signal to the others to wait for him while he chews before speaking. “I actually took my younger cousins there at the beginning of the week and the rides look pretty cool this year.”
Hoseok looks smug after that, resulting in Yoongi muttering, “Who’s side are you even on?” You let out a laugh at that, you can’t help it. “Regardless,” he says loudly, chopsticks waving in the air as he glares at his friend. “We’re too old to go, the tickets are overpriced, and the food is too expensive for how trashy it is. We’re not going.”
Taehyung, Jimin, and Jungkook all protest at that and you let out a sigh as you watch the younger ones (plus Hoseok) argue with the older boys. Your first day back and they’re already fighting over something dumb. “The four of you are leaving us in August, don’t you want to stick to tradition one last time before you go off into the adult world?” Jimin argues, and you raise an eyebrow at that, your eyes glancing at the older boys who seem to deflate a little at his words. They always get soft whenever someone brings up some sentimental crap like that.
“This will be the last time that we go,” Taehyung offers, and you notice Hoseok trying to hide his smirk as the younger boy talks. The two of you make eye contact and he winks at you, both of you knowing that he’s probably going to win this. “One last time for all 8 of us to pretend like we’re still in high school-”
“Who the fuck wants to pretend like they’re still in high school?” Jungkook interrupts, causing you to smack his arm. “Sorry for interrupting, but that place was a nightmare.”
Your boyfriend acknowledges his words with a nod before continuing. “One last time for all of us to pretend like we’re still young and have nothing to care about. Like we're not entering the adult world soon, some of us sooner than others, and all we have to worry about is having enough gas in our cars to get to where we want to go and not getting arrested for whatever we do.”
There’s silence after that as everyone mulls over those words while they eat. You, Jimin, Jungkook, and Hoseok know that Taehyung essentially has the rest of them right where he wants them so you just wait for them to say something.
It’s Namjoon who breaks the silence first. “You know, I hate it when you guys get all soft like that.”
Tumblr media
With the amount of shit that you get into whenever you’re with Jungkook, you sometimes forget that he’s actually loaded (but it’s because he’s loaded that he feels the need to cause trouble wherever he is at every single possible second). So every time he invites you to hang out at his house, you can’t help but feel excited to experience even a smidge of the life of luxury that Jungkook gets to experience every day.
And luxury it is.
It’s mid-day and you’re hanging out in Jungkook’s backyard while he’s at the grill making some food with Jin, you and Taehyung sprawled out on one another on a couch as you pass a joint back and forth. Empty bottles of beer and cans of White Claw are scattered around while the handles of harder alcohol are resting in the shade, waiting to be consumed at a more appropriate time. Namjoon and Yoongi are floating around in the pool, their shades on as they indulge in the feeling of being crossed while in the cold water. This is exactly what you were looking forward to.
Taehyung’s right hand gently runs up and down your shin as he hums along to whatever song Jungkook is playing on his speaker, his left hand holding the smoldering joint over an ashtray before bringing it to his lips. He inhales the smoke and you watch as his chest rises to allow it to settle in his lungs before he slowly blows it out in your face.
“That wasn’t very nice,” you shake your head as you fan the smoke out of your face. Your eyes are dry enough as it is.
Your boyfriend simply smiles widely at you before tugging at your ankle, sliding closer to you and pulling you closer to him so that he could situate you on his lap. He places the joint in your fingers, murmuring, “Finish it,” and watches with rapt attention as you bring it up to your lips. You inhale for a few seconds, the warmth from the smoke tickling your throat and almost causing you to cough but you fight it as you let it settle in your lungs while the joint falls from your fingertips and into the ashtray. You’re about to blow out the smoke when you feel Taehyung’s fingers on your chin, his lips on yours before you could even process what’s happening. His tongue swipes along your lower lip and you open your mouth to release the smoke into his own, a whimper escaping you when his hold on your hip tightens. Taehyung pulls away from you as he inhales, his pupils blown wide before they disappear behind a cloud of smoke.
Taehyung is about to pull you in for another kiss, your eyes almost closed as you lean closer to him, when you feel cold water get splashed on you and you gasp loudly. Goosebumps rise on your skin as you look for the culprit, your eyes narrowing on Jungkook who was standing beside the pool with a water gun in his hands. “Stop making out in front of us, it’s gross!” he exclaims while shooting the two of you a couple more times.
“You little bitch-!” you say menacingly as you begin to get up from Taehyung’s lap. You don’t get far though because your boyfriend is already pulling you back down as Jungkook scrambles back to the grill to hide behind Seokjin. There’s a smirk on your face as you stare at him and you swear that you see him gulp. Serves him right.
Namjoon and Yoongi tease the youngest for being so scared of you as they clamber out of the pool, their eyes looking more alert as they make their way over to you and Taehyung. “It’s time to roll another one, I’m coming down,” Yoongi announces as he takes a seat next to you and you grin widely as he opens up the grinder.
“You know, I’ve only ever seen you this excited when it comes to weed, sangria, and d-”
You clap your hand over Taehyung’s mouth before he can finish his sentence, smiling at him sweetly while your friends just try to stifle their laughter as they roll up a couple more joints. “Are you sure you want to finish that sentence, babe?”
Taehyung bites the palm of your hand in retaliation before tightly wrapping his arms around you, rocking you back and forth as he coos, “Is my baby embarrassed? You don’t want the boys to know how good I-”
“I’m getting some water!” you exclaim as you jump up, forcing Taehyung’s hands to fall into his lap as he laughs loudly at how embarrassed you look. “Does anyone want some? I’m going inside to get some.”
All of the boys raise their hands so Taehyung gets up from his spot on the couch as well to offer his help. As soon as he shuts the door to the backyard after you two are inside, you have a feeling that something is up, especially when you think you hear him chuckle darkly behind you. He’s right on your heels as you make your way to the kitchen and when you feel a tug at the back of Taehyung’s your shirt, you realize that your boyfriend has stopped you. He backs you up against the island in the center of the kitchen, his hands placed on either side of you to trap you, and you can’t help but look away as he stares down at you with a smirk playing on his lips.
“Been dying to kiss you, sweetheart,” he mumbles as one of his hands reaches up to touch your face, his thumb rubbing over your cheekbone. “That one from before just wasn’t enough.”
Taehyung leans down to press his lips to yours, and even though you know that it’s a combination of the feeling you get from kissing your boyfriend and the feeling of being high, you swear that there’s electricity running through your veins. Your hands grip his biceps and you whimper when you feel a hand on your ass, squeezing it and bringing you closer to his body. You feel your knees buckle when he pulls away from your mouth only to kiss and bite at your neck, the thought of marks on your skin causing you to feel even more tingly.
“Please,” you whisper as you card your fingers through his hair. “Taehyung.”
Taehyung stops and looks at you, an amused look on his face as he takes in just how desperate you look for him. “Please what?” he teases you, head tilting to the side as you huff in annoyance. You’re so cute.
“Please kiss me,” you pout. And with the way that you’re looking at him, so desperate for him just to kiss you, who is Taehyung to deny you that?
He presses a quick kiss to your lips and laughs when you lean forward more as he leans away. “If Jimin and Hoseok aren’t here in the next few minutes, we’re going home so I can do more than just kiss you,” he tells you, and God, even though he has to fight down all of the dirty thoughts are coming to mind about just what exactly he wants to do to you, he can’t help but think that the excited look on your face is absolutely adorable.
Taehyung spoke too soon though because just as he’s about to continue your little makeout session, you hear the door to the backyard open, followed by Seokjin yelling at the two of you, “Jimin and Hobi are here!”
And Jungkook, always a fan of getting on your nerves whenever he can, continues with, “You guys better not be fucking in the kitchen, those are new countertops! Did you even get the water?”
When you and Taehyung come back outside with eight water bottles, the urge to throw them at your friends is overwhelming as they whoop and holler at you. You reach up to try to cover the marks on your neck with your hair but this just brings closer attention to them. “For the record, we didn’t actually do anything so get your minds out of the gutter, you fucking pervs,” you sneer as you hand out the water.
“I’m sure they’re just jealous because it’s not their necks covered in marks,” Taehyung shrugs, walking away from Namjoon just as he chokes on his water from the younger boy’s words.
“Dude, why do you always have to make it weird?” Jimin mutters as he shakes his head at his best friend. “Anyways, Hoseok and I have an announcement so put your cell phones on silent and shut your fucking mouths. The show is about to begin.”
You raise an eyebrow at that as Seokjin attempts to stop himself from laughing. Always one for the theatrics, that Park Jimin. Hoseok clears his throat and takes a small step forward to gain everyone’s attention.
“We’re going to the carnival tonight.”
Tumblr media
Taehyung’s hand squeezes your thigh reassuringly as Jungkook and Jimin struggle to converse over the loud music. Why Jungkook can’t just lower the music considering the fact that you’re all in his car is beyond you. You’re more than used to the antics that you and your friends tend to pull every summer but a part of you is wondering if you’re taking it a bit too far this time. You pull into the dirt parking lot right next to Jin’s car and you’re not surprised to see skeptic looks that match yours on Seokjin’s and Namjoon’s faces.
“Why the fuck do you have that?” Yoongi practically yells as he looks down at what Jimin’s holding, prompting you to shush him.
“They’re just bolt cutters, dude, relax,” Jimin shrugs and your eyes dart down to his hands to see that he is in fact holding bolt cutters. “This is for our backup plan.”
“Wh-“
“Yoongi, if you don’t wanna get caught, then keep your fucking voice down,” you hiss at him. “The entire town will know we’re here because of how loud you’re being.”
“Can someone please explain to me what the hell our so-called ‘plan’ is?” Namjoon whispers loudly, his eyes narrowing on Hoseok presumably because this was his idea in the first place. “Because I haven’t felt confident about it since literally all you fucking said was ‘I know a guy’.”
“If it makes you feel better, you know him too,” Hoseok shrugs, and just as Namjoon opens his mouth to say something, another pair of headlights passes over you guys. You all watch silently as a very expensive car drives into the parking lot, and even though all of the windows are up, you can still hear the loud thumping of the bass before the driver turns the engine off. 4 people exit the car, none of whom you recognize, but based off of Namjoon’s barely hidden annoyance, Hoseok was telling the truth and he does know them.
“Kim Namjoon!” the driver exclaims after greeting Hoseok with one of those bro handshakes, making you wince at the loud volume. Did none of them understand that you all are about to commit a crime? “Didn’t think I would be seeing you so soon after graduation. Did you miss me?”
“Considering the fact that I woke up to you asleep on my bathroom floor because Hoseok had to bring your drunk ass home with him the night before my 9am graduation when your frat had a party, I’m gonna have to say no,” Namjoon replies drily, and you have to stifle your laughter at that. You’ve never heard him speak like that to anyone except maybe Jungkook and Seokjin, he’s always polite and nice, so this is very different. You can’t say you blame him though, the guy does kind of look like a douche.
The douche in question laughs at his statement before his eyes rove over your friend group, only to stop at you. “And who’s this?” he asks, voice piquing in interest. “You never mentioned a girl to me, Hoseok.”
You cross your arms over your chest as Taehyung snorts beside you. “That’s because he has no reason to. So are you the guy that’s going to unlock the gate for us or are we just going to stand here and talk in the dark for another 5 minutes?”
“The name’s Jackson, sweetheart,” the guy smirks as he walks right up to you to dangle what you assume are keys for the entire amusement park in your face. “Jackson Wang. And don’t you forget it.”
“I’m not really good with names but my boyfriend is,” you shrug as you point at Taehyung who drapes an arm over your shoulders. “So I’m sure he’ll remember, right Tae?”
Taehyung smiles beside you, but it’s more like he’s baring his teeth at the guy, and both yours and Jackson’s friends snicker as the two of you watch him slowly walk over to the gate in a stunned silence. The lock opens with a click and you all follow him in, watching as he turns some of the lights on and then gives Hoseok a copy of the keys.
“You guys have one hour,” he explains as he hands them over. “If you’re not at the gate by then, then we’re leaving and you guys get to deal with whatever trouble finds you. Got it?”
“Yes sir!” Taehyung and Jimin exclaim at the same time and you smack both of them when you see them saluting Jackson.
The frat boy merely rolls his eyes at their antics as he unlocks the gate, all of you shuffling forward hesitantly as he swings open the gate and leads you all inside. He tells you all to wait while he goes off somewhere and you can’t help but clutch Taehyung’s hand a little bit tighter as you stand there in the dark. You’re not a believer in the supernatural per se but you’re not about to hang out in a dark amusement park long enough to find out. Suddenly, the flood lights come on, the harsh white light driving away any shadows that may have been lingering.
“Go crazy,” you hear Jackson say and you turn around to see him waving you off. “But not too crazy because if you guys break something, then I’ll kill you.”
Him and his friends go off while you and your friends decide where you should go first. You’re about to nod along to Jungkook’s suggestion of finding some leftover funnel cakes when you feel a tug at your arm. Taehyung pulls the two of you a few feet away from your friends with a wide grin on his face, leaning closer to you before whispering, “Wanna ditch them and go make out in the Tunnel of Love?”
You roll your eyes at that but a matching grin appears on your face. “You’re so fucking cheesy. Fine, let’s go.”
You allow your boyfriend to pull you along eagerly, both of you snickering to yourselves as you break away from your friends. A noise of disgust leaves your mouth as you glance at the murky water, the abandoned pink gondolas looking almost sad as you pass by them in favor of entering the tunnel on foot. There’s no light aside from the ones outside but you guess that that’s the point as Taehyung pushes you up against the wall and presses his body against yours. He tilts your chin up so that you have no choice but to look at him and even in the darkness, you can see the glint of mischief in his eyes.
“Been wanting to do that since you talked back to that Jackson guy earlier,” he hums, head ducking down to press a kiss to your jawline and then another to your cheek. “You’re really cute when you’re mad, you know that?”
Taehyung presses his mouth against yours harshly as his hands travel down to your hips to bring them even closer to his. You whimper as you wrap your arms around his neck, fingers finding their way into his hair before softly tugging at the strands. You’re usually not one for making out in public but there’s something about making out with your boyfriend in an empty amusement park at night that sends just the tiniest bit of adrenaline through your veins. A gasp escapes your mouth when you feel him grab at your ass roughly, kneading it with the palm of his hand as the other lightly traces up and down your side. You can feel him getting hard against your thigh and just the thought his cock is enough for you to let out a moan against his lips.
“Dirty girl,” he chastises you when he pulls away, only to duck down to kiss and bite at the skin on your neck. “You’re being so loud, you want someone to catch us? You want one of the guys to walk in and see you like this?”
“Sorry,” you apologize, eyelids fluttering when he wraps a hand around your throat and applies just the slightest bit of pressure. “I was just-”
“Thinking about my cock?” Taehyung interrupts, finishing your sentence for you. Your eyes fly open to meet his and there’s a smirk on his face that tells you that he knew exactly what you were thinking about. “You can feel it against your thigh, right? How bad do you want it, baby?”
His hands slide under your shirt to toy with your nipples over the fabric of your bra and your breath hitches in your throat. You think you can hear Namjoon’s excited yelling from outside but you're too far lost in how good Taehyung is making you feel to care. “Want it so bad,” you whisper, biting down on your lower lip when he brings a hand down to cup your heat. “Wanna choke on it, get it so fucking wet with my mouth.”
He rubs at your clit through your cotton shorts and based off of how wet you feel right now, you know that your panties are probably ruined. Taehyung shifts so that his thigh is now pressed up against your pussy and you let out another moan from the pressure on your clit. Your hands come up to grab at his shoulders as he steadies you with his own on your hips, dark eyes looking down at you with lust as he licks his lips. “Feels good, huh?” he teases you as he presses you down harder against his thigh. “Why don’t you get yourself off for me, sweetheart. Grind against my thigh until you make yourself come and then I’ll reward you with my cock.”
You nod along eagerly at his words, your hips moving against him before he even reached the end of his sentence. Pleasure courses through your veins as you grind against Taehyung’s thigh, unable to control the noises that are leaving your mouth. But after a particularly loud moan, you feel your boyfriend’s hand wrap around your throat again before squeezing as a warning. “You’re being so loud, baby,” he mumbles as he leans forward to press more kisses to your cheek. “I thought you were my good girl, that you knew how to stay quiet. And only good girls get to feel good...”
“I’ll be quiet,” you say, and the pleading look on your face is enough to make his cock stir in his pants. “I promise I won’t make any more noise, please just let me come.”
Taehyung’s hand comes up to rest against your cheek, thumb stroking at your cheekbone softly and your movements against his thigh stutter at the gentle gesture. “Since you asked so nicely,” he concedes just before flexing his thigh muscles under you.
You clap your hand over your mouth to stop the gasp that you were about to let out, eyes never leaving Taehyung as your hips speed up. Your other hand comes up to grab at his bicep, squeezing tightly as you listen to his words of encouragement.
“There’s my good girl,” he coos, his deep voice sending shivers down your spine. “Always so eager to please, you want my cock in your mouth so bad, don’t you? I know you do, baby girl, because you fucking love it. You love choking on this big, thick cock, right? Gagging on it and being so fucking sloppy with it. My little cockslut-”
Taehyung’s dirty whispers are cut off by the lights coming off and the theme music of the ride blaring through the speakers, and you swear your heart almost jumps out of your chest. Any pleasure that you felt is immediately replaced with shock and fear as your boyfriend pulls you closer out of instinct. The two of you look around before running out quickly, the music fading as you stand a few yards away from the ride. Annoyance overcomes your boyfriend’s face when his eyes land on something—or rather, someone. You look over and see Jimin and Hoseok standing at a nearby food truck eating cotton candy and laughing their asses off, words not even escaping them from how hard they’re laughing.
“You guys are fucking assholes, you know that?” Taehyung yells as you both walk over to them. His hand squeezes yours when he feels you still shaking slightly beside him, and he pulls you closer for good measure. “You scared the shit out of us!”
“W-What?” Jimin stutters, unable to properly form words around his laughter. He wipes tears away from his eyes as Hoseok breathes deeply next to you to get himself to calm down. “What are you talking about?”
“Fuck off, Jimin,” you say dismissively with a roll of your eyes. “We know it was the two of you, you were standing here laughing your asses off about it when we ran out. If you’re gonna pull some shit like that, either don’t stick around or act cool if you’re gonna stand there.”
“Seriously, we have no idea what you guys are talking about,” Hoseok protests, still sounding like he’s on the verge of tears as he gets the last of his laughter out. “We literally just got here and the ride was on when we ran by. I didn’t even know where you guys were until just now.”
“Maybe it was Jackson and his friends,” Jimin offers, but Hoseok shakes his head beside him. “Well it can’t have been the others, they’re on the Gravitron right now. Joon and Yoongi are probably close to puking their guts up right now because they smoked just before they went on.”
An image of the small, dark, spinning room pops up into your mind with puke splattered along the walls and you grimace. “Gross. Let’s go wait outside to see if you’re right.”
The four of you walk towards the ride and you steal a bit of Hobi’s cotton candy from him, smiling innocently before popping it into your mouth as he whines in protest. Taehyung is looking around as he swings your joined hands between the two of you and you have a sneaking suspicion that Jimin may have taken a couple of hits with the boys because his eyes are only half open. You all lean against the gate as the ride slowly comes to a stop and you take this moment to pull out your phone, calling out Jimin’s name to get his attention before quickly taking a picture of him in all of his stoned glory.
“(Y/N), I swear to God, if you post that picture anywhere…!” he exclaims as he lunges for your phone, and you cackle as you quickly dodge and hide behind your tall boyfriend.
Taehyung does nothing to help either of you, merely standing still as the two of you circle each other. “It’s just going to be your new contact picture, relax,” you tease, the slight slump of Jimin’s shoulders making you chuckle. “And I’ll probably put it in the group chat.”
“There have been worse pictures of you sent in the group chat,” Taehyung points out, and Hobi bursts out laughing as Jimin’s posture straightens out with the most offended look on his face that he can muster. “So I think you should just let her have this.”
Before Jimin can argue, the doors to the Gravitron open and Seokjin, Namjoon, and Yoongi all come stumbling out with Jungkook following soon after. Yoongi and Seokjin look a bit pale, Namjoon looks like he’s about to go into shock, and Jungkook’s smiling as if a girl just agreed to show him her tits. A pretty normal situation if you do say so yourself. You can hear Yoongi mumbling something to himself as the four of them approach the exit, and as he gets closer, you begin to laugh when you realize what he’s saying.
“Never again!” he exclaims as he straightens up, wobbling in place he points as menacingly as he can at Jungkook. “I am never ever doing that again!”
“Agreed,” Jin groans and you reach forward to pat his back as he leans against the railing.
“Jin, did you smoke too?” Hoseok asks, a bit shocked. Jin is usually one of the more responsible ones out of the eight of you, so you’re a bit surprised as well since he’s one of the two people that drove tonight.
The eldest shakes his head and takes a deep shuddering breath. “No, I just forgot how fucking horrible that ride is. Honestly, how does anyone enjoy that? It feels like my brain was trying to squeeze out of my ears.”
“Let’s just walk it off,” Namjoon suggests, voice barely above a whisper and you know that he’s just barely holding himself back from throwing up in front of you all. “Why don’t we go to one of those funhouses?”
You all agree and make your way through the carnival, and are surprised to find a funhouse that was already on. “Jackson probably forgot to turn it off,” Hoseok shrugs as he steps forward to pull aside the plastic curtain and enter. “Yells at us to make sure to leave everything like we found it and he can’t even follow his own rules.”
As you enter the funhouse, a chill runs down your spine and you shiver, stepping a bit closer to your boyfriend to allow his warmth to wash over you. The boys are all joking around as you make your way through but you can’t help but feel like something is off. It feels like there’s something… watching you and you keep hearing whispering in between all of their exclamations of what sounds like your name. But it’s too dark to see anything and the other boys don’t seem to notice anything so you try to shake it off. The further you get into the funhouse though, the more unnerved you get until you’re practically cutting off the circulation in Taehyung’s hand. You’re so consumed in your own thoughts of making it out that you don’t even notice how quiet the boys have gotten. Or how fast you’ve all started walking.
“I don’t want to alarm anyone,” Seokjin says, and you have to strain to hear him because he’s speaking so quietly. “But has anyone noticed the weird banging sounds that have been happening ever since we came in?” A loud bang sounds out, as if to confirm that it is indeed there, and you feel your heart drop to your stomach.
“Maybe it’s a bad time to bring this up but I swear I saw something in the reflection when we were in the mirror room not too long ago,” Namjoon confesses before looking over at Yoongi, who’s usually always calm but now looks as scared as you feel. “And I’m pretty sure you saw it too.”
“I-I don’t know what I saw,” he stutters out, but the hint of fear in his voice is enough to make Jungkook shiver beside you and Taehyung to push you behind him so that you’re more in the middle of the group. “Let’s get the fuck out of here, I don’t like this.”
You all begin to quickly walk through the attraction and you try your best to ignore everything except for Taehyung’s hand in yours and your friends around you. Jungkook’s hand reaches out for your other hand at a particularly loud noise and that’s when you all begin to haul ass out of there. You haven’t even seen anything but if the hair standing up on the back of your neck is anything to trust then-
“Okay I’m pretty sure I just heard footsteps behind me so fucking run!” Jimin yells from his spot in the back and you turn around to see Seokjin grab his hand as you all begin to run like your lives depend on it.
It’s a struggle to get through all of the obstacles when both of your hands are preoccupied but you refuse to let go as you near the exit. You’re practically shaking as you enter the spinning tunnel and the imbalance that the illusion is making you feel definitely isn’t helping. There’s a metallic smell in the air that causes you to wrinkle your nose and before you can even wonder what it is, Jungkook whips out his phone and turns on the flashlight. Only a gasp escapes your lips when you see the blood that’s dripping down the walls, the red fluid covering most of the glow-in-the-dark paint that was originally splattered on to the tunnel. There’s another loud bang followed by a deep yelling and you all scream as you run out.
Your heart is pounding in your chest as Jungkook and Taehyung pick up speed, practically pulling you with them as all eight of you sprint through the amusement park. As you run by, all of the rides suddenly turn on, the music blaring and lights flashing almost like a warning. You check behind you to make sure that you all made it out and what you see near the funhouse almost makes your heart stop; there’s a dark figure there, one that you can barely make out because of both the distance and how fast you’ve moving, but you swear that you see it wave at you.
All of you make it out and you yell at Jin and Jungkook to pull out their keys, not too eager at the thought of slowing down just to wait for them to unlock their cars. You frantically tug at the door handle of Jungkook’s car and dive in just as an ear-piercing scream sounds out. There are more screams, ones of terror, and the lights of all of the rides begin to flash faster and faster before everything goes dark and the gates swing shut on their own.
“Jungkook, what the fuck are you waiting for?” Taehyung yells from beside you in the back, snapping the younger boy out of his reverie. “Get us out of here!”
Jungkook nods frantically as he starts the car and peels out of the parking lot, Seokjin’s car right behind you guys as you speed away from the carnival. You chance a look behind you but all you can see are the silhouettes of the rides and Jackson’s car still parked in the same place. Jungkook doesn’t slow down until you’re miles away but your breathing doesn’t calm down until you spot the 7-11 that you all were at just last week.
“Can we stay at your place for the night, Jungkook?” Jimin asks timidly from the passenger seat. “All of us, I mean. Hobi wanted me to ask you too.”
“Yeah,” the youngest agrees, finally turning on the radio and putting it on a low volume just to break through the fear that’s still in the car. “Yeah, I think that would be a good idea.”
He turns and begins to drive towards his house and you rest your head on Taehyung’s shoulder, finally feeling somewhat safe. Your boyfriend presses a reassuring kiss to the top of your head and you feel like you could cry from just how relieved you feel.
“...So. Maybe you and I should go to my house. My parents aren’t home. And we didn’t get to finish what we started,” Taehyung mumbles lowly in your ear, and you sit up straight to look at him incredulously.
“Taehyung! We almost just got murdered by who knows what and all you can think about is getting your dick wet?” you whisper frantically.
Taehyung stares.
“Okay fine, I’ll come over, I already told my parents I was probably staying the night at Yeri’s anyways,” you concede with a roll of your eyes, but you chuckle when Taehyung’s hand reaches out to squeeze at your thigh. “Jungkook, would you be able to take Tae and I to his house?”
“Thank God, I did not want you guys fucking in my house.”

Person 1: The last person you kissed.
Is this person your significant other? Yes.
When did the kiss take place? Around two weeks ago.
How long have you known them? I’ve been aware of their existence since 2002 because we had attended the same school since kindergarten. We didn’t become friends until 2011 so that makes ittttt 9 years since I got to know know them.
Are you older or younger than they are? I’m older by a month and a half.
Do they drive? If so, what car do they have? Yes, but she barely had the chance to drive throughout our time in college because she lived in a dorm right beside her school. And either her parents or I would pick her up by the end of the week to take her home, so. As for what she drives, her dad has a business involving cars so her cars change every few months. I think she has some sort of Nissan SUV at present.
What do they do for a living? She doesn’t have a job but she’s currently doing her internship at a marketing agency.
What kind of a kiss was it? We made out for a few seconds in my car, right before I drove off to leave. We couldn’t do much at her place because her sisters were hanging out with us at their lanai, but we made it a point to have a few minutes of alone time in the car because we hadn’t kissed in four months.
Do you think they’ve kissed anyone else since you? Nope.
When will be the next time you see them? I have no idea. Someone died of Covid in her village the other day so the place will most likely be put on another lockdown, and I doubt I’ll be seeing her soon.
Is there anything they do that you find really annoying? She’s horrible at handling her temper and will say really hurtful stuff when she’s angry. I was like that too but I eventually learned and changed my ways; I don’t know why she can’t do the same.
Person 2: The last family member you spoke to.
Was this person one of your parents? Yes, it was my mom.
What did you speak to them about? She went downstairs to refill Cooper’s water bowl after he tipped it over, the cheeky bastard lol. I heard it crash to the floor, so I asked her what happened.
Would you say you have a good relationship with them? No.
Do you see this person every day? Everyday. I live with her.
What’s one thing you like to do together? I don’t like doing things with just her, because she scares me for the most part. She can fly into a rage almost any time, and I’ve never gotten used to it.
What are some of their favorite hobbies? Cleaning. She’s not super interesting and doesn’t have quirky hobbies or whatever.
What color hair do they have? Black.
How often do you argue with them? At least once a week, I’d say.
What do they do for a living? She’s a secretary in her department in the hotel she works in.
Person 3: The last person who posted on your Facebook/MySpace. (I’ll use the last person who commented on my Facebook because no one ever posts anything on my wall unless it’s my birthday)
Do you actually know them in real life? Yes. She’s my aunt.
What did they write? Did you respond? Well I posted a photo of an oreo cheesecake that my uncle made (same uncle who made the burnt basque cheesecake and tres leches cake hahaha I’m on a roooooll), but it was an aunt who had it ordered as a graduation gift for me. I gave her a shoutout and thanked her on my caption, so her comment was just her basically saying “You’re welcome.”
How long have you known them? Ever since I was born. She’s family; she’s my mom’s cousin.
Would you say you’re good friends, or just casual acquaintances? We’re relatives, but she’s one of my hipper aunts so we’ve talked about stuff that I wouldn’t feel comfortable talking to my parents about. I actually came out to her and other trusty aunts and uncles around two years ago.
Are they in a relationship? Yes. She’s married and has three kids.
What’s something the two of you have in common? We went to the same university. She’s a lawyer and I’m sorta kinda considering taking up law in the same school she attended, so that’s kind of a similarity too lol.
Do they live within walking distance of your house? She lives a bit near, but it’ll still need a car.
Do you talk to them on a regular basis? No. We mostly catch up during Christmas, or when relatives from the US visit home.
Are they someone who updates their Facebook fairly regularly? She seldom updates her own account but she constantly reacts to and comments on other people’s posts.
When was the last time you saw them in person? December 25, 2019.
Person 4: Your best friend.
How long have you been best friends with them? 15 years.
Do you speak everyday, or not very often? She’s a low-maintenance friend which I’m very grateful for. We can go without talking for weeks and we’ll be perfectly alright.  Recently though we’ve been talking nearly everyday on Messenger; the quarantine’s starting to get to us and we just want to see each other already.
Do you think you could handle living with them, or would they drive you crazy? She’d make a wonderful roommate and we’d make a hilarious pair, I just know it.
Do you tell them pretty much everything? Yes.
Are they the same sex as you? Yes, she is.
Are they older or younger than you are? She’s younger by five months, but it’s still within the same year.
Have you ever had a massive argument with them? No. We’ve only had petty arguments and the last time we had one of those was in fifth grade. We never fought after that.
Do you trust them completely, or are you a bit hesitant? I trust them with my life.
Do you think you’ll be best friends in ten years’ time? I hope.
Person 5: The last person to send you a text.
Is this person a boy or a girl? Boy. Well, man would be more fitting lol
When was the last time you saw them in person? About an hour ago.
Do you guys text fairly often? No, only when he’s home. He works abroad for the most part, and he has only stayed in the country a lot longer than usual because of Covid.
How well would you say you know them? Barely. He likes keeping to himself and doesn’t say much about his interests.
Have you ever held hands with them? Plenty of times.
Do you miss them right now? Not really. I see him everyday and if I needed him, he would just be upstairs.
Have you ever kissed them before? On the cheek.
What are some things you guys have in common? We both love dogs :)
When is the next time you’ll see each other? Tomorrow morning. Or, if he leaves early, tomorrow afternoon.
How did you meet them? He’s my dad, so he was in the hospital when I was born.

A Moment in Time Chapter 4
Adrien’s jaw dropped from slight bewilderment at why such a gorgeous girl would randomly sit down at his table and start talking away. The only problem? His name wasn’t Adam.
AU- Alya sets Marinette up on a blind date with a guy named Adam, but after a phone incident and the time change, she ends up crashing at a different table thinking it’s her date.
Chapter 3/12?  maybe more?
Tagged per request: rosalind2013
A.n.- I think I'm going to repeat how thankful I am for you guys every single chapter because you blow me away with the support this story is getting. It humbles me and makes me work harder to produce a better chapter for you. A couple of things before we start.
1.) There was lots of debate of what Adrien's job was last chapter. He is a Paramedic. Now where I live ( and other places too) there are two kinds, one works out of the hospital and the other has stations that take calls just like firefighters and take calls 24/7. Hopefully, that clears some stuff up.
2. For those of you that haven't noticed, there's a question mark in the chapters. The story has expanded a bit. (Currently, I think it's going to be 12 chapters but that might change so I left it). Yay more chapters.
3. A shoutout to Mermaidyarn and The Novel Artist, because of them, an extra plot element was added that I think everyone would approve of. I know I had fun doing research for it.
“So, what’s about Adrien?” Marinette asked unsure how to start this impromptu conversation. There wasn’t any etiquette that she knew of regarding a stranger visiting you late at night. She ventured back into the kitchen to put the kettle on the stove after offering Nathalie tea.
“Maybe you should take a seat Mlle Dupain-Cheng.” From the moment she met Nathalie, her cold demeanor, Marinette could tell that this wouldn’t be a pleasant conversation. She took a seat anyway. “I’m going to cut to the chase. M. Agreste wants to offer you a deal.”
“Deal?” she echoed. “What kind of deal, surely there’s nothing that he would want from me.” M. Agreste had all the influence needed to get anything that he wanted. She owned a bakery there was nothing-
“M. Agreste is concerned about his son and the kind of people that his son would spend time with.” Her head still spun from the knowledge that Adrien was her favorite designer’s son. It added some light for another reason he didn’t share his name right away; he might be concerned that she would treat him differently. She should have realized it sooner, but it had been years since he graced the pages of magazines.
“What does this have to do with me?” She stumbled over her words unsure of the direction of the conversation.
“My employer is prepared to pay generously to make the proper influences stay in, or in your case, out, of Adrien’s life.” Her body turned to lead, and for once she was thankful that she was seated.
“Let me get this straight,” she started. “M. Agreste sent you in the middle of the night to bribe me to stay away from his son because he deems me a bad influence?” This couldn’t be happening. “Might I ask what was so despicable about my behavior that caused him to think I’m corrupting his son?” She spat back as her anger levels increased.
“I’m not privy to that information,” Nathalie’s stiff tone provided room for doubt. “He noticed that you had traveled to the bank recently for a loan to open another store.” Nathalie offered out a check. “I’m sure you’ll find this more than satisfactory to cover the gap.” Marinette’s eyes drifted over the paper- that was a lot of zeroes.
“You need to leave,” the tremors laced through her words. “Now.”
“I beg your pardon.” Judging by her body language, she never got asked to leave before.
“Adrien is perfectly capable of choosing his own friends. Not that it’s any of your business, but we are not talking right now, but if that changes that will be between Adrien and me.” Nathalie stood up grabbing the check along with her.
“I’d advise you not to anger him Mlle Dupain-Cheng, M. Agreste is not a patient man. I’ll give you another chance and inform him that you shall think about his offer. It could do big things for your bakery, especially since you two are not corresponding currently.” She placed her card on the table in front of Marinette nodded curtly and headed straight for the door.
Tikki couldn’t help but push her worry into her baking. Marinette left at 10 to travel across town for a cake tasting, but even before she left, she wasn’t acting her usual self. She forgot who she was meeting with several times throughout the hour, pulled a batch of underbaked croissants out of the oven, not to mention misplaced her keys. Not that Marinette would confess if anything did bother her, but Tikki began to wonder if her behavior was caused by the Adrien news finally settling in. It didn’t take much to see that she liked Adrien, what he did must have really affected her. Tikki didn’t usually speak up too much, but she knew that if the two got over this hump that the pair could make each other happy. The bell above the door chimed signaling a customer, Tikki quickly gathered the remaining dough and slid it into the fridge. She only made the couple steps to the doorframe when she stopped, and a gasp escaped her lips.
Why was he here?
Tikki thought that after they left the bakery that she wouldn’t see either of the boys again, but there he stood in the bakery, Adrien’s friend. She ruffled down the front of her apron and nervously smoothed the hairs that shifted out of place. She rationalized that she would have done the same for any customer, not just ones she found cute.
“How may I help you?” She asked in her usual chipper voice. When she saw his mouth parted and eyes widened, she regretted it. Perhaps she could tone her tone; she had been told before that her excitement over baked goods intimidated people.
“Uh-I was looking for”- For a reason that she couldn’t put her finger on, her heart sunk. That’s why he was here, for Marinette, it didn’t have anything to do with her.
“She’s not here,” she finished his thought for him.
“Who?” The general confusion in his voice brought her attention to his melt-worthy green eyes. Not that she would ever admit to that.
“Marinette.”
“Well,” he squinted to read her name tag, “Tikki, I’m actually here to finally taste the pastries Adrien keeps raving about. He doesn’t even know that I’m here.”
“Oh,” her gaze shot down to her feet hoping if she could focus enough she could slip into the floor. “The cheese ones, right?” The order came swiftly to mind; not many customers ordered three pastries with the intent not to share.
“Some of the best kinds, if you ask me.”
“I’m more partial towards the ones with the raspberry jam myself.” She pulled back the glass to gain access to the pastries.
“Well, that makes sense because you’re so sweet.” Tikki stopped mid-reach and glanced up this time a confident smirk on her face.
“Does that make you cheesy?” Normally she would never flirt with the customers, but this one time could be an exception.
“Only in the best way possible...and if it means that I can take you out this weekend.”
Tikki blinked in surprise at his boldness before turning away to box the food and hide the growing heat in her face.
“No, it doesn’t,” she replied. Marinette would kill her if she said yes, especially with where things were up in the air with Adrien.
“Oh,” Tikki turned to see his facial features sink in disappointment. She didn’t want to leave him there. Out of the corner of her eyes, she spotted a sharpie and grabbed it. Her number followed by several digits were placed on the box before Plagg even noticed.
“But you can have my number.” The way his face lit up caused a small flutter in her chest.
“I’ll see you around, Cookie.” A wink accompanied the nickname.
“Cookie?” She called out. “Is that just because I work in a bakery?” If that was the case, it didn’t impress her in the least.
“I’ll only tell you if you agree to that date with me.” As tempting as giving in to her curiosity was, she had to keep her boss in mind. She already flirted with the line when she handed out her number.
“I think I can handle the torture of not knowing.” She places her hand on her lip to emphasize her answer, but it didn’t faze him.
“Suit yourself, Cookie.” Plagg slipped out, and Tikki found she needed the counter as support for her wobbly knees. Moments later her phone dinged with a message from an unknown number. It contained a picture of the empty box and three words that skyrocketed her pulse with excitement.
See you tomorrow.
“No way!” Adrien crossed his arms across his chest. “You can count me out; there’s no way I’m doing something that embarrassing.” In retrospect, he should have seen this coming. The meeting for the annual fundraiser for charity always landed around this time of the year. Bad ideas always got tossed around, and this one was no different. Adrien never imagined a sexy EMT calendar idea would ever make it to the meeting where the chief would sit in, and yet, here they were.
“Come on Adrien,” Charlie prodded teasingly. “It’s for charity! Think of all the good you can pour back into the community and all you have to do pose for a couple of photos. How is this any different from your modeling career when you were younger?” Adrien’s body stiffened. He had concealed that information to avoid being relentlessly teased. There was no way that they could have found out — the one person who knew was Plagg.
“This is very different!” Adrien tried to argue, but by the look on their faces, no one believed him.
“You had teenage girls gawking at you then, and you’ll have women ogling you now.” James piped in.
“And besides the guys took a vote to put you on the cover, and Chief already approved it,” Luc replied. It was evident by the groans and eye rolls that it should have remained a secret. Adrien’s eyes bolted wide. It was one thing to participate, but if you were featured on the cover, you were the face of the campaign.
“What?!”
“Let me talk some sense into him.” Plagg guided him away before he could give them a piece of his mind. Once the trucks have them some privacy, Adrien slugged his friend in the arm.
“Ouch! What was that for?”
“You promised you wouldn’t tell them!” He hissed in annoyance.
“I didn’t! A single internet search can reveal all your deep dark photo shoots in more damaging ways than I can.” Adrien would be inclined to believe him if he hadn’t been his friend for the last couple of years.
“You left the site up for them to see.” He started as a fact as everything clicked together in his brain.
“It may have randomly pulled up after I heard rumors that they wanted me to be on the cover,” he confessed.
“Plagg!”
“Think of it this way; you could use it to win over bakery girl.” Adrien’s anger stilled at the nickname.
“Marinette?” He echoed. “How?”
“Think about it. If Marinette sees you in a calendar where you ooze your sex appeal, she won’t be able to resist you.” Plagg held up His hands in front of his person to prevent another punch.
“Like that will ever happen,” Adrien snorted, “Marinette isn’t like that.”
“She has eyes, doesn’t she?” Plagg shot back defensively. “Besides, it’s not like your plan is working spectacularly.” Adrien opened to shoot back a snarky remark when he realized that Plagg was right. He had put forth flowers, and it got him kicked out of her bakery. He had nothing left to lose.
“Fine, I’ll do it,” he growled. “But there’s a flaw in your ‘master plan,’ she might not even see it.”
A ding filled the air, and Plagg’s lips tucked back into a smirk not needing to look to know the sender. “Let me handle that.”
Marinette forced on a smile while trying not to look at her phone. Their first coffee date had gone so well she found herself hopeful among all of Alya’s ‘I told you so.’ Tonight, was far from what she imagined. Adam arrived late which he explained away with work. She didn’t mind that; it was everything after that that slowly worked on her nerves.
Adam had suggested this hot new sushi place that had opened recently. And Marinette held back a cringe. It wasn’t that she didn’t like sushi, it more had to do with the texture of it. She forced it down when she had to, but not ideal for a date. She confessed her feelings for the food and suggested a couple of other places they could go instead. The date ended abruptly by Adam’s boss calling, and he had to high tail it to the office for a prominent client.
Imagine her surprise when they pulled up to the sushi restaurant. Her lips pressed into a thin line but didn’t say anything as she got out of the car. He flashed a warm smile, but it did nothing to lift her mood.
“Marinette?” Her head snapped up to meet his gaze. “Is everything ok? You’ve barely touched your food.”
“I just don’t like it all that much,” she confessed. Hopefully, the words would prompt Adam to remember when she explicitly told him that she didn’t care for sushi.
“We’ll get it sent back. Here, have some of mine instead. It’s delicious.” He switched plates and called over a waiter before she could object. The thought might have been sweet if the sushi wasn’t the problem in the first place. “So, how’s planning for that cook-off going.”
“Baking competition,” she corrected. Cook-off made it sound like a competitive barbecue. “I’m still working on the right combination. I was thinking of maybe doing something with chocolate and raspberries because-“ she slowed watch him lose interest being pulled back into his work phone.
A sigh left her lips as she fought the urge to get up and leave despite being all the way across the city. They had such a good time on their first date; she didn’t know what happened. Maybe he acted like this when things became too stressful at work. She’d hate to write him off over one lousy date.
“Adam?” He looked up at her call. “I’m not feeling well. Is there any way we could do a rain check?” It would be best to put the night behind them and start over on a different day.
“Absolutely,” he chirped. “Just let me flag down the waiter for the check.”
Adam dropped her off at home, and immediately she took off to her second home. Marinette sat on at an open table within her closed bakery glancing back to the kitchen wondering how many batches she could cook before her body would give out for the day. She glanced at her phone almost wishing that Adrien would have texted her today. Despite how silly the text was, it brought a smile every time she read them. Her phone only had one text from Adam claiming how good a time he had.
If only the feelings were mutual.
She at least had a better time with Adam than Kim, but that didn’t say much. It seemed that work texts or emails kept getting in the way and that caused him not to listen. Marinette was sure he had to be a good guy, they had to go where there were no distractions.
She couldn’t help but allow her mind to drift back to Adrien throughout the meal. There was no doubt that she had more fun with him than Adam the only downside to Adrien was that his father hated her guts enough to offer money to stay away. The thought crushed any childhood idea she had that if she got back into design that one day she could work at Gabriel’s with enough work.
As alluring as the money was, she would find another way to get the money for the bakery. She wouldn’t be pushed around and told who and who not she could be friends with. By the way, Nathalie spoke it sounded like M Agreste was under the impression that deeper feelings were there; that couldn’t be true though. They only had one date. The first impression was important, but not everything. Cheeks flushed she pulled another part of her muffin off and placed it in her mouth. Out of the corner of her eye, passing through the window was something very blonde and familiar. His hands were shoved in his pocket and eyes trained on the ground as he walked; he probably didn’t even realize she was there.
She shot up from her seat. If fate brought him to her, how could she pass up the opportunity? Her feet tripped over themselves as she raced to the door- screw M. Agreste’s potential wrath.
“Adrien!” She called out, his name leaving a honey taste on her lips. She missed talking to him.
The man spun around with no hesitation at the sound of her voice. Marinette’s eyes lingered on his face for a second. The area resting under his eyes were bagged; he looked like he hadn’t gotten much sleep, a feeling she could relate with.
“What are you doing?” Not her best question after the way they parted. He blinked at her his head tilted slightly.
“Going for a walk,” he strained his reply. “Uh-I didn’t think you would be in the bakery this late.” Marinette felt the echoes of her heart fluttering as he stepped toward her. “I’ll start taking another way. I’m sorry if I bothered you.”
Marinette ignored his last sentence hoping that her invitation would answer that question. “I was just about to make a practice batch for the competition...would you like to join me?”
“You mean it?”
“I mean-I don’t want to interrupt your walk.” Marinette had to bite her tongue so she wouldn’t ramble, “I wanted some company.”
“Then I am all yours.” The way he said yours caused goosebumps to litter her arm. Even if this was a bad idea, it was too late to go back now.
An hour later the pair were doubled over in laughter not even noticing the blotches of flour remained from their playful war earlier that night. Adrien currently entertained them with funny stories of calls he had been dispatched on.
“We got the call, and I thought I heard wrong. The dispatcher said that some teenager had sustained some head injury from falling off a lion. But we got directed towards the zoo.” Adrien was reveling in this feeling. Every time he looked over she was engaged listening on bated breath.
“No way,” she swatted at his arm playfully almost causing him to mess up the story.
“Three teenagers decided it would be an amazing idea to break into the zoo and get up close and personal with the animals.”
“What made decide to be a paramedic?” A soft, sad smile appeared as his eyes fell to the table instead of her.
“I love helping people when they need it. No matter what the outcome I know I did everything I could to save them.” When he felt a warm hand slid on top of his Adrien’s eyes jumped up to hers.
“I think it’s amazing what you do for the city.” Despite the reassurance she provided with a squeeze, Adrien still skeptically scoffed.
“I don’t think my father would agree. He thinks I’m much better suited running the empire that he built.”
“I’m sure you’re more than capable of doing that too, but if you enjoy what you do, it hardly feels like work.” Marinette jumped when Adrien’s thumb started stroking the edge of her hand lovingly.
“Thank you,” he murmured. The moment shattered when the timer rang signaling the end of the cooling period. Marinette removed two pieces, but before she could taste her creation, Adrien reached out and tugged on her arm.
“Wait, I have an idea, and we need to do this right.” He acquires a perplexed look as he began wrapping a nearby clean towel.
“Adrien”- her vision darkened. “How am I supposed to eat it?”
“Leave that to me.” She wasn’t aware that he shifted until his hot breath lingered outside her ear. “Your senses are heightened this way. Have I ever led you astray...in culinary matters.” Even though he couldn’t see, Marinette rolled her eyes, and her lips released a giggle.
“Ok, I trust you, but no funny business.” She gasped when his hands gently grabbed either side of her shoulders. “No funny business,” he confirmed, but she could hear his smile. He guided her a few more steps, and she felt the stool, so she sat down grateful that she didn’t fall in doing so. Her ears picked up the sounds of the fork gently scraping against the plate.
“Open,” he whispered, and she immediately complied. The chocolate and peanut butter flavor danced on her taste buds leaving joy in their wake. Marinette released a hum of appreciation, but it ended in more of a moan.
Adrien was a train wreck, he thought this would be one of his better ideas, but the second that sound hit his ears, he was a goner. His eyes darted down to a crumble that rested on her lip and swallowed hard. She was close enough to close the gap without a second thought. He daydreamed what it would be like, but his promise to her kept him from acting on it.
“You got something...” his voice trailed away not trusting himself at the moment. He gently ran his finger along her lip knocking the morsel free. He jerked his hand back to the side afraid he let his touch linger too long. “Uh- How was it?”
“Perfect,” Marinette struggled to maintain the illusion of control in her voice. “I think it’s the base of recipes”- In the process of standing up, she didn’t realize how close he had been until she slid off the temporary blindfold. Adrien eyes wide mouth parted slightly, and conflicting emotions conflicted emotions stamped on his features.
“That’s great,” he replied but made no effort to create more distance between them.
“Yeah,” Marinette caved and let her eyes flicker down to his lips for only a second. “Adrien,” she leaned in, and he followed suit just as their lips brushed-Alya’s ringtone acted as an ice bucket splashing the two back to reality. Marinette’s cheeks exploded with color as she slipped around him and fumbled to lift the phone to her ear.
“Hey Alya,” Adrien’s focus turned to the floor not wanting to eavesdrop, but on the other hand, it was hard to ignore when she was right there. “I’m at the bakery.” She paused, and he managed to look up just enough to time to see him glance her way. “My date went fine, Alya…no, I’m not brushing you off. I don’t want to talk about it right now.” Adrien couldn’t stop his heart from sinking off the high he experienced moments ago.
She had Adam.  How could he forget?
If she had another date with Adam that meant that there was something between them, and he- almost ruined that.
Guilt ripped at his insides. He couldn’t interfere if Marinette held any feelings for Adam he had to step back. He’d rather be her friend than not have her in his life at all.
When she rounded back, the look she sported screamed injured puppy, and his stomach turned to lead.
“I’m sorry-“ he held out a hand to stop her from going any further.
“I’m the one that’s sorry. We got caught up in a moment,” Adrien paused internally cursing at what he was about to do. Plagg would yell at him later, but he started this off with a lie. He needed to be honest with her if he wanted any chance of a relationship in the future.
“I like you.” Probably more than I should, he mentally added. “But for now, I think it’s best if we’re friends.” The word tasted bitter on his tongue. He couldn’t be the reason their relationship wouldn’t work.
“Friends?” She echoed bewildered.
“I still want to spend time with you.”
As much as you’ll give me.
“But I know you still have Adam, but I was thinking friends hang out, so I was hoping that maybe we could go on a friend date.” He stopped before his word vomit could fully activate.
“I’d like that.” Her smile radiated off her sending warmth through his body. “It’s getting late; I should probably go home.”
“Can I walk you?” His question born out of gut instinct. He didn’t want their time to end. “You shouldn’t be walking the streets this late by yourself.”
“I would love to, but my car is right there.” His heart deflated as they stepped out into the night air.
“Goodnight, Marinette.”
“Goodnight.” There was a pause as she fiddled with her car keys. “Adrien?”
“Yes?” She closed the gap and pressed a gentle kiss on his cheek.
“Thank you.” He barely caught sight of the subtle blush on her features.
“You’re welcome,” he stood there until her car drove off before he lifted his hand to his cheek. The kiss lingered, and Adrien found he couldn’t break his dopey grin. Maybe there was hope after all.
Adrien unlocked the door and pushed his way into his apartment. Within moments he heard a soft sound. “I know I’m home later than I promised, I’m sorry.” Where he picked up the habit of talking to his cat, he didn’t know, but every time he did he felt less alone.
Another chorus of meows endured.
“But I can’t wait to tell you all about my night.” Adrien continued through the motions of opening the cat food and pouring it into the bowl. “She’s amazing Chat; I wish you could meet her; you would like her.” A glum sigh slipped through his lips. Although a friend date was less than a real date, it beat her not talking to him at all.
“I could talk to her for hours.” He sunk back into the couch allowing his mind to replay the events of the night over and over. It got interrupted by Chat tracing his side flicking his tail in Adrien’s face. “Alright, I get it bud.” He scooped the black cat into his lap and began to stroke him earning a purr. The movement released his stress he pent up, about his father, the calendar and Marinette. The world faded leaving only him and his cat cuddled on the couch slowly allowing sleep to claim him.

BASED ON OURAN KISS KISS FALL IN LUV
tHIS IS SO CUTE OK OK LETS GET 2 WORK
You’re in your usual literature class lecture hall and you’re sitting a few rows behind,,,,
The one and only, Yoon Jeonghan
Campus heartthrob
With looks like that though??? Can scREW ME UP
You’re staring at the back of his fluffy blonde locks as he studiously scribbles down his notes in his beaten torn notebook
Every time you try to refocus on the professor, your eyes just drift back to his short hair that looks a little too tempting to run your fingers through
By the time you prep yourself to focus on taking notes for the twentieth time that hour, everyone is packing their things and you’re like n OO OO NOT AGAIN
“Let me guess: Jeonghan?” Your friend nonchalantly brings up as they’re stuffing their folder in their bag
You sigh and get up to pack your things along
“I don’t even know why he’s so distracting… just something about him”
They’re shaking their head and smile knowingly bc it’s just so damn oBV I O US WHY
“You know that hot cafe that just opened everyone’s been raving about?”
“The Diamond? What about it?”
They smile even wider and are like, “do you know who got a job as a cute waiter?”
“,,,,,,,,,,,,What are you trying to say”
“Maybe you can finally get that number you’re always babbling about?”
And you’re like oh my god pl S STop but you’re right tho :/
You finally have some time off from your schedule to swing by the cafe down a few blocks from your dorm
You’re out on a lovely Saturday morning stroll and the strong scent of coffee beans wafts out into the streets
The cafe has only been open for an hour but there’s already a huge line
And if it weren’t for your curiosity, you would have just been like Gotta Go Fast
But you figured you would do yourself a favor and begrudgingly hold it out in the line that extends to almost the end of the street
Think of this as a cafe version of Ouran!!
Except add 7 more (excluding haruhi bc you take the protagonist’s place)
The cafe is so full that it makes you wait for the servers to take you to a table like in restaurants so it’s THAT big
No matter what time of day it is, it’s always co m ple te l y paCKED
8am when it just opens? Looks like a concert venue
Half an hour until closing time? All the tables are entirely occupied
It’s predominantly females but evEN GUYS SWOON i mean who wouldn’t tho???? When you have 13 pieces of f I N E????
Anyways when you finally reach the front of the line after 38 years, you’re like finALLY MY LEGS :((
And the bubbly little host is dressed in actual 5-star restaurant attire and he’s looking back at you like :DDDDD!!!!!!!!!! And you’re like :ooooo!!!!! :DDDDD!!!! What a cutie pie!!!!!!!
“Hello, and welcome to The Diamond! I’m Chan, your host, and I’ll be your go-to if your main server is unavailable! We’re currently waiting for a table to open up, so please be patient!” he perfectly recites and you’re just like clutching your heart bc of hoW CUTE HE IS!!!
Around 10 minutes pass and he’s notified that a table has been opened and you’re like okay,,,, this is it. This is where My Life Changes
He leads you to a cute little corner that gives you a nice little window view of the bustling streets
He gives you a menu once you’re seated and he’s like, “Okay, this is where I take off!!! Your main server will be with you shortly! If you need anything, just tap on this little bell!”
As he scurries away you’re just like :(((( why can’t you be my waiter flfjdldfskj wait I’m here for Jeonghan!!
You’re browsing through the menu and you’re appreciating all the aesthetics from the tableware to the graphics on the menu
You hear how the other waiters interact with their supporters customers as you’re waiting for yours and you could have sworn you heard Jeonghan’s name floating around
“What’s the special for today?”
“It’s the double chocolate cheesecake, honey~~”
*SCREAMS* me 2
His favorite pet name to call his supporters customers is “honey” uM IM WEAK B YE
And people seem to be ordering devil’s food cake a lot what a coincidence lmAO
A few minutes pass and you feel a presence nearing you and you casually brush it off as just a waiter passing by but oh boy!!!
“Hi honey~ What can I get you for today -- wait, Y/N?”
You’re about to chOKE ON YOUR SPIT
You look up from the desserts page and see the face that you’ve been mustering up the courage to talk to for months
“J-Jeonghan! I didn’t know you worked here!” the classic sentence starter
He lets out a small laugh in disbelief and you’re like aaaAAAA SO CUTE ST O P I T THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR MY HEART
“I haven’t seen you around here before. Is this your first time today?”
And you’re lowkey highkey blushing bc he,,,, noticed you?????
“Yeah,,,, it is,,,,,,, what do you recommend?”
He hums in thought and turns back to you, “We have the Devil’s food cake that seems to be really popular whenever I serve customers for some reason,” he chuckles and he grins that angelic yet mischievous smile
And you’re like huh :))) I :))) wonder :))) why :)))
You tell him you’ll try it out with a latte and give him the menu as he elegantly exits and leaves your heart painfully wanting to leap out of your chest
Some time passes and you’re taking in the decor and the view of the streets when he returns promptly with your food and drink
“Here you go, Y/N :)” he smiles and gently places the plates down in front of you
But honestly all you’re focusing on is how clOSE his face is when he did that
Do you imagine him to smell really nice?? Bc he probably smells like clean laundry and just fRESH AND SOFT AND--
Ahem
Little did you know his little fleeting glances at you to check your reaction of the mouthwatering sights in front of you!!!
Am i talking about the food or am I talking about Jeonghan always looking like a meal???? Guess we’ll never know
He nervously giggles and runs his fingers through his hair and you can’t help but to eye his movements bc,,,, those luscious locks,,,,
He’s like well!!! Try it!!! And you’re like ughsldgkdglh in front of you??? Right now????
He doesn’t seem to be budging anytime soon so you’re like rip ok guess so
You take your first bite and your eyes are about to bulge out of your sockets bc how in the name of the heavens can chocolate cake bE SO!!!!!!! GOOD!!!!!!! (spoiler alert: it is)
You’re looking back at him with widened eyes and a chocolate caked mouth as you’re mumbling,” ish sho gud!!”
And he’s like lmAO YOU’RE SO CUTE-- I mean,, yes,,, yes it is
And he gestures at your mouth and says “you have a little something uh,,,, everywhere LOL” and you’re like lsdjdfljd oh god i wanna dig up a hole and bury myself forever!!! And you hastily grab the napkin and wipe the chocolate crumbs off
And you two are so off in your own little world that both of you fail to notice the attention the other customers are directing towards you
Because Jeonghan nEVER, and I mean NE V ER, acts that naturally to a customer
It’s all a bunch of his favorite pet name, “honey,” and some winking tossed in his light flirting
But laughing? Having a really good time? Acting like friends? Joking? Not once!!!
And everyone is like Who Are You And Tell Me Your Secrets
He strikes up a conversation with you so easily and you’re so taken aback bc why would he be talking to an invisible soul like yours??? What’s happening with the world???
“Did you ever get the project turned in?”
And you’re really confused like,,,,, yes??? What???
And he sheepishly smiles, his ears a little red iM YODELING
“I just,,, overheard you worry about how much your partner was slacking off when you were talking to your friend that day,,,, that really sucks :(“
And you’re just like o H!!! Omg
“It’s all taken care of, don’t worry!!! At least i hope so,” you mutter
And you can feel his hesitance and you’re like ???? what is it??
“Maybe you need a new partner for a change? Our professor mentioned our next project can have us choose our own partners,,,, and you seem to be really good at this class,,,,,”
And you wanna laUGH bc you’re literally just there to stare at the back of his head
But he’s like you always know the answers whenever she calls on you????
“It doesn’t take a genius to know what the types of irony are, Jeonghan”
“hEY IM TRYING MY BEST THAT’S WHAT MY NOTES ARE FOR”
And you’re like,,,, do you need a tutor???
He lights up and his cheeks are stained a light pink aND IM CRYING IN THE CLUB
“yES! I mean, yes. Yes. Please. Here, I’ll give you my number”
What you feel: IM SCREAMING INTO THE ABYSS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I JUST GOT YOON JEONGHAN’S NUMBER, AN ACTUAL ANGEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What you say: Oh, sure!
You both do a number exchange and literally everyone in that cafe is just on the floor like hOW DID YOU????? WH A T????
And Chan calls him and he not-so-subtly hints about how he’s been talking to you for way too long and everyone in line is complaining LOL
He regretfully looks at you and you nod sadly in understanding
“I’ll catch you later this week,” you say and he’s about to turn around when he stops and turns back
“Are we meeting for a study da-- sESSION?”
And you’re like what did you say--
“I said study session”
“.....I’m free Saturday”
“I’ll meet you at the library,” he gives you one last grin before winking and walking away and you’re like eXCUSE ME WHAT DOES THAT MEAN SIR
You shake your head but you can’t suppress the gigantic smile that your lips involuntarily make
You take the mug in your hands and you notice the latte art is a picture of a heart
You’re like scREAMING BC ITS SO CHEESY BUT YOU LIKE IT
And now you finally have a reason to pay attention in your literature class if you gotta tutor a potential college bf in your study da--session!!!!

@thescorpioracesfestival Tourist Challenge 9: Souvenir (and we finally get some screen time with Sean Kendrick)
Once again, I’m sorry this challenge and the last two were late, but I’m all caught up now!
Links to challenges 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8
as always, shoutout to @colestclairs / @suriels (she switched blogs but you can find her posts on either, or just search the tag “claire&rowan”)
Challenge 9 under the cut. Enjoy!
Rowan and Claire made their way to the O’Brien’s house, laughing and giggling the whole time. Rowan had invited Claire over after hearing that she was less than wanted at her own home. She figured it might be nice for Claire to talk to people who were excited she was racing, not scared.
They had barely made it through the front door when Rowan’s grandfather yelled from the kitchen, “Who wants November cakes? I just finished them, and I think they’re my best batch yet!”
Rowan and Claire made a beeline to the kitchen. The faint smell of oranges hung in the air, swirled with sugar and melted butter. Rowan wished her apartment back in New York smelled as good as her grandparents’ kitchen did. Claire and Rowan plopped down on the stools and inhaled the November cakes.
“So Grandpa,” Rowan started, mouth full of gooey November cake, “What was is like when you raced in the Scorpio Races?”
Chester smiled clasped his hands together with glee. He had been waiting to tell someone other than Amelia about his time racing. “Well, it all started when I was out for a walk on the beach one day.” Chester called back those memories he looked back on with great fondness.
Twenty years ago, a twenty-years-younger Chester strolled along the beach near Skarmouth. He noticed something black bobbing in the water and got closer to check it out. He knew the risks, he was a born and bred Thisbian, but, like most of the islanders, he was drawn to the dangerous horses.
The capall uisce barreled out of the water, pushing against the tide and ran straight over to Chester. Up until that point in his life, Chester had been content to partake in the festivities surrounding the races, but then that all changed.
That capall uisce that didn’t rip him to shreds and instead stood tall, facing Chester, changed everything.
Chester had taken a tentative step forward, arm outstretched. He knew he’d probably lose his hand, but didn’t care. He knew the horse would probably bolt and run back into the sea.
But he didn’t.
Instead, the capall mirrored Chester and took a tentative step forward, and nuzzled his snout into Chester’s outstretched palm.
“Blackberry,” Chester had named him, for he was as black as the night and much sweeter than any capall uisce ought to be.
Chester didn’t have any rope, but Blackberry had seemed to understand him, seemed to know that he supposed to follow Chester. Together, the two made their way to Malvern Stables. He was greeted by Sean Kendrick, whom he had grown up with. Sean had given him a look of surprise when he’d seen the capall following calmly behind. What Sean hadn’t seen, Chester recalled, was the half loaf of banana bread in his pocket that Blackberry got dangerously close to stealing.
Sean had helped fit Blackberry with a saddle and bridle and had found him a place at the stables. Every day after that, Chester had snuck off to the stables after Amelia had gone into town. It wasn’t that Amelia disapproved of racing, it was just that Chester wanted to make it a surprise the night of the parade.
So every day, he had trained Blackberry, gently coaxing the horse to trust him. He would give Blackberry blackberries when he had done well, and Blackberry had taken a liking to his namesake. In no time at all, Blackberry and Chester had formed a bond. People had starting paying attention to them during training. Sean had helped Chester with the art of riding, as Chester had never ridden a capall uisce before. Sean had stopped racing many years before. Chester once asked him why and Sean replied that is wasn’t the same without Corr.
Though Chester progressed in his training, he was still a cautious rider. He had been petrified of going too fast and had just wanted to ride Blackberry. Sean and Chester would ride up on the cliffs, away from the more ferocious capaill uisce. Sean explained that he had done this with his beloved Puck because she had raced her island horse, Dove, and the capaill had seen Dove as dinner. Chester had felt quite special after hearing that.
So, for weeks, the two of them would train, more so Chester than Blackberry, until the day of the race. Puck, sadly, had ratted out Chester’s surprise to Amelia, but that hadn’t mattered. The race was here, and Chester had Amelia, Sean, and Puck on the edges of their seats.
What was the race like? Chester looked back fondly to the sand scratching up his shins and the salt of the ocean spraying in his face. He remembered Blackberry’s wild mane whipping in the wind, hitting Chester’s forearms, but he barely even noticed. Sean had told him to go close to the water, because so many of the other capaill were drawn to the sea, but Blackberry was drawn to Chester’s easy laugh and patient voice, and also whatever food was in his pocket. He wouldn’t care about the sea singing her sweet song to lure the capaill uisce back to her. Sean had been right, of course.
Once the race started, Chester knew immediately that he wouldn’t win. And that was ok. He had learned a new skill, had fun, and made a new friend. And that was all that mattered to him.
So Blackberry had merely trotted along the shore, water splashing up from his hooves. Chester watched in fascination as riders fell or lost control of their capaill, while he merrily strode by.
He had heard Puck scream at him to GO FASTER WHAT ARE YOU DOING? but simply did not care. He ended up in third place, and was content.
The watchers of the race had formed in a mob around the winner, while Sean, Puck, and Amelia made their way over to Chester and Blackberry. Amelia had taken a picture of the most joyful Chester that had ever existed with his arm slung lazily around the shoulders of Blackberry.
Chester thought back sadly to when he and Sean had released Blackberry back to his home in the sea. He knew he couldn’t keep Blackberry, but he felt he was losing a dear friend. He never told anyone, but each year, he looked down on the training to see if Blackberry had resurfaced, with no luck.
He didn’t tell that last bit to Rowan and Claire though. He didn’t want them to pity him. It was a tentative friendship between man and beast. It had only lasted a month. But Chester still wished he’d had more time.
“So,” Rowan said, breaking Chester out of his memory, “Do you think Blackberry is still alive? Have you ever looked for him?”
“No,” Chester shook his head, “I haven’t seen him since.” He cleared his throat and turned to Claire. “I hope your capall--”
“Elemental,” Claire offered.
“Elemental,” Chester smiled. “I hope your Elemental is as special to you as my Blackberry was to me.”
Claire smiled back and assured Chester than he was. Chester seemed happy with the answer and excused himself to let the girls have time to themselves.
“Wow,” Claire sighed.
“I know! I never knew my grandpa was so cool!” Rowan exclaimed.
Claire agreed. “Hey, I got you something,” she changed the subject.
“A present? For me?” Rowan asked in delight.
“It’s nothing crazy,” Claire assured her, “just something to remember me by.”
Rowan scoffed, “I don’t have to remember you. You’re coming with me, silly!”
Claire looked down at her hands. “I know, but just in case.” She quickly handed Rowan the gift.
“Socks?” Rowan questioned.
“Wool socks that I made myself,” Claire clarified. “From our sheep.”
Rowan smiled and immediately put them on. “I love them!” And she wasn’t just saying that, like she did with most presents she received. Rowan truly loved them simply because Claire had made them.

2017 Year Survey
(I’ve done this for a couple of years so why not this?)
1. What did you do in 2017 that you’d never done before?
I fell in love.
2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I didn’t make any but I think I will make one for next year
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Yes! I have a nephew now!
4. Did anyone close to you die? Thankfully no.
5. What countries did you visit? Only the UK. And Denmark if the airport counts haha (I mean it’s where I always fly from so)
6. What would you like to have in 2018 that you lacked in 2017? Energy, a job I actually like (energy should follow that though), kisses
7. What date from 2017 will remain etched upon your memory? None, but 2017 gave me a date from 2011 that will stick.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Is landing a girl an achievement? XD Other than that I didn’t achieve anything.
9. What was your biggest failure? Not getting out of my sucky job I guess, and letting it bring me down.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Working in a hospital in a physically demanding job has made me more sick than normal during a single year for sure. But it’s been colds and the flu and such. And not a single week goes by without me getting at least one fresh bruise, and probably a cut. But it’s all minor things really. I’ve gotten stronger too so I guess it’s a tradeoff?
11. What was the best thing you bought? Hm, I feel like I didn’t buy anything major. I’m super happy to have bought some proper 50s revival items though (and not just thing sI’ve made myself or Chinese knockoffs) I guess I did buy an engagement ring though, maybe.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration? I guess mine for dealing with the feels? Haha.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed? Too many to fucking count. The whole damn Trump administration for starters. And an additional gazillion racists, homophobes, dictators, etc.
14. Where did most of your money go? Not counting the stable basics like rent and food and such bullshit... I guess my London weekend, which included some good shopping.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? There’s that one person and the butterflies she somehow set free.
16. What song/album will always remind you of 2017? I guess I won’t know that until a few years from now looking back. But probably Ruelle’s stuff.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: i. happier or sadder? Happier. Like, personally I am way happier when I can actually relax and think. Overall I’m more blank I guess, cause I’m always tired and in a never ending cycle of work - sleep - work ii. thinner or fatter?  I think the same. iii. richer or poorer? Richer. At the end of last year I had been unemployed for a good few months, eating through my savings. Now I’ve had a decently steady job for almost a full year. Not well paid, but I have been able to save, and cover my expenses.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Basically anything that isn’t work. Reading for sure, gaming too. Travelling.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Work.
20. How will you be spending Christmas? I’m not sure actually. Probably relaxing, and then in the evening have dinner with the parents, maybe do a repeat of last year where we had dinner at their place and then walked over to mine for sweets and gifts (I’m the one with the tree!)
21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with? @cordycepling for sure. I mean it doesn’t matter that we had like two months of some kind of unspoken fear of actually calling again, that doesn’t change the fact that whenever we DO talk it’s for hours. And I don’t really talk on the phone with a lot of other people xD
22. Did you fall in love in 2017? I did! With a woman, and with a lot of fandom things haha.
23. How many one night stands in this last year? None. I don’t think the answer to this question will ever change.
24. What was your favourite TV programme? Still running would be 12 Monkeys of course. We got s3 this year and it was crazy and good. However, I think we all know which TV programme had the most impact on me... Shadowhunters all the way baby! I started watching it with an insane amount of prejudice, but Netflix made it so easy to binge. And sometime during season 2 I realised I actually liked it. And in 2B there was no denying that it isn’t even a guilty pleasure anymore. I learned how to gif for it, I am seriously writing fanfiction, I made new friends... yeah. It’s a thing. Oh and I think I watched Mozart in the Jungle in the beginning of the year and really loved that. Can’t wait for the next season.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? No one specific I guess?
26. What was the best book you read? That’s so hard! I haven’t read as much as I wished either. Hm, maybe Your Soul is a River by Nikita Gill. Oh and apparently I read the Rogue One novelisation the first week of the year. Now that was amazing.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Not sure. I do quite like Ruelle now. This year has made me fall back into the whole tying lyrics to fandom, which is fun. I’ve also listened a lot to the radio at work (luckily we do tend to end up on stations that play more stuff than just the latest hits)
28. What did you want and get? A girlfriend! Also a job.
29. What did you want and not get? A girlfriend who doesn’t live on the other side of the world, and a new and better job.
30. What was your favourite film of this year? Wonder Woman I think. I did watch Arrival in January and that was really good. Oh and Palmeras en la nieve too.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned the big 30! I had a nice lil picnic with friends, which ended with Cards Against Humanity (after about half the guests had gone home) which is always fun. It was a good birthday. Even had the day off from work!
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? A job that didn’t suck every bit of energy out of me.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2017? 50s revival I guess. Not historically correct by any means, but inspired! And not full on rockabilly either. But yeah. However, most of my time is spent in work clothes. And going to and from work I don’t care what I look like pretty much. And I usually wear the same thing for many days cause it’s literally on my body for maximum one hour. Then it’s PJs and my new discovery: onesies. Bought a skeleton onesie around Halloween and fell in love. Apparently for me to find fitting onesies I should go shopping in the boy’s section!
34. What kept you sane? As always: the internet and fandom. More specifically: ignoring the actual fandom and engaging with a select few people and the source material.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I don’t know. The year started with Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal for sure. Then it all kinda calmed down over summer. And I guess in fall/winter it’s been the Shadowhunters cast cause they’re all so damn adorable.
36. What political issue stirred you the most? I guess the US always takes the cake. Cause it’s in the media so much as well, overshadowing all the other horrors of the world.
37. Who did you miss? @cordycepling something fierce, especially right now.
38. Who was the best new person you met? I dunno. I guess in person gotta be someone at work? Online... there are so many great new people out there. I love you all! And special shoutout to the squad ofc.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2017. You need to open your damn eyes fool. Also... all hope is not lost, there is someone out there.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. Let’s do two, one cute and one urgh:
I found love where it wasn’t supposed to be - right in front of me.
Workin' 9 to 5, what a way to make a livin' Barely gettin' by, it's all takin' and no givin' They just use your mind and you never get the credit It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it

Your Greatest Gaming Binges & ExtraLife 2017—Sunday Chats (11-5-17)
There is a lot going on. And I mean a lot. Behind the scenes. In front of the scenes. All in preparation for this coming weekend, where we and my team of internet friends from all over the Continental United States will be participating in ExtraLife 2017, an event I have participated in for seven years, and this will be my eighth.
First, some context.
I tell this story every year, so I apologize if its trite to you, but its the truth. In 2009 I was diagnosed with a more ethereal-type disease called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It plagued my life for about seven months, causing me to be homeschooled during my Junior Year of High School, drop all of my Advanced Placement classes, and stop seeing my friends for weeks on end. It through off my college plan. It ruined my life. It made me miserable and unhappy. And I lost hope until I started seeing a specialist, Dr. Rowe, at John Hopkin’s Medical Center in Baltimore Maryland. With physical therapy, medication, and exercise, I was able to finish my Junior year of High School, and live a normal life until I relapsed in my Senior Year of High School, and had to retread old ground again, more frustrated, and more determined this time.
In 2012 i fell into a deep depression. Scared, alone, and as I slowly coiled up into my room and stopped seeing my friends, going to school, going to work, or doing anything, I had no one to turn to. Until I reached out to Dr. Rowe. He was a Chronic Fatigue specialist, but I remembered part of CFS is depression, something that I didn’t have to experience at the time. He gave me the depression test that I had passed with flying colors every other time I had seen him, and, stunned at the change, helped me start a path on a better and less mental-illness-plagued life without depression.
Every year, my team donates to John Hopkin’s Medical Center. It’s a place that irrevocably changed my life. It gave me hope when I had none, and set me on a better, healthier path. This is my way to give back.
So join us, this coming Saturday starting at 12pm Eastern Standard Time, at http://twitch.tv/IrrationalPassions, and donate to a cause that has helped me and countless others. I’m excited to see you all there, in spirit, for our wacky shenanigans!
Now... I onto the entrée.
Your Greatest Gaming Binges
Today, as is now customary for the first Sunday of each month, I asked YOU ALL a question, and it was about the most intense gaming marathons you all have gone on. Specifically single-session, and specifically why.
Now, I’ll say, full disclosure, you should always remember to consume the average amount of calories, vitamins, and minerals in your diet everyday, and take care of yourself: sleep when you need to, drink plenty of water, and listen to the recommendations of the FDA and USDA (here in the states) to better understand what your body needs, to live a better, and more fulfilling life. But I aside from the self-destructive aspects of binging gaming sessions, I love a game that gets its hooks in you so hard that you just can’t. Stop. Playing.
I have had countless 12-hour+ gaming sessions that have left me bleary-eyed, but still bushy tailed from the amazing stories that have come from them, and with a year like this year, I think there are many out there from this year alone. I wanted to hear your stories!
First, one of mine.
Danganronpa 1. Boy oh boy. I think I’ve infamously talked about it at this point. But when that came out I was so incredibly obsessed with it. It was all I played for days, and I’d roll out of bed, grab my Vita, and keep playing, until I rolled into bed, played until I felt asleep, rinse and repeat. It was an incredible few days of gaming, and it was what got me back into visual novels.
Now, to the audience!

See, I love the classic gaming sessions. I think that was a totally different era of playing games too. Hearing times of people playing Street Fighter 2 and just going were the best. And shoutout to Super Techmo Bowl, because that game is fucking rad.
Tumblr media
I can’t get into Minecraft, but I like the multiplayer love. Scott, Evan and Tony, my cohosts on IP, helped run a big Minecraft Server for over a year. The stories to come out of those play sessions are magnificent, and I was into the jolly cooperation.
Tumblr media
MGS4 is fucking crazy. Luckily there is plenty of movie time to go get snacks in that game. I think I beat that game in three or so sessions, so I get it.
BUT HELL YEAH JAK 3 AND SLY COOPER. Those games are so rad. Well deserving of massive play sessions. I remember going out and buying Red/Blue 3D glasses because I rented Sly 3 from GameFly and didn’t get them. I ended up steeling them out of a display box in a Blockbuster (DON’T TELL ANYONE) so i could have the cool Sly Cooper branded ones.
But boy. Jak 3 in one day. That’s a tall ask.
Tumblr media
See, I wish I played MGS at all in the era of when you only played one game because it’s all you had. I only ever really experimented with multiple play throughs when it came to MGS4, and that was still a ton of fun, but I wish I could have done it with something like MGS2 or 3.
The different styles of play are what make those games so hard to put down too, even though I just played the same way the whole time. Like a loser.

Get a better game Plankfan, because I can’t do this Garden Warfare bullshit.
Kidding, but yeah I think of the multiplayer bingers, Overwatch has taken the cake, and that’s the most class-based of all, considering each character is their own cup of tea.
Tumblr media
Very much so! Game rhythm is super important to how hard you can binge it. Especially with single player stuff. Like, Rocket League has tons of ups and downs and variety therein, so the rhythm is changing all the time. Single player games need a good loop, and facing off against the next villain really pulls you through Akrham Asylum. Especially with the Metroidvania-esque format.
Tumblr media
I’m curious to what you thought of it, ultimately, because I like that game a great deal, but nothing in Deus Ex really blew me away. I think it was just a very good “one of those” with no unique hooks really. I know a lot of people have different feelings about that, but any immersive sim really makes me never want to put it down, so I get it.
You should do the same with Dishonored 2, because it’s v good.
Tumblr media
FUCK YEAH.
Kingdom Hearts 2 is one of those games I spent 14 hours straight playing during ExtraLife 2010 and never looked back on. I love it. I could play that game all day.
Tumblr media
Oh my god yes. Just like the Minecraft love I love this too. And the loop of that is great.
I have never really had a LAN party for anything, but ExtraLife is the closest I’ve come to that. I really like the loop of all that too. I played Halo 2 with my brother and his friends when I was younger and it was a blast. Boy... This sounds like it’d still be rad today.
Tumblr media
Another Arkham game. I really jive with this one too, but City has just enough Open World in it to keep me fully immersed. I started playing that game after a midnight launch and just didn’t stop. It’s the same idea of wanting to see the next villain, especially after Freeze shows up. Whoooooo boy.
Tumblr media
Oh boy. My recent trip back to Skyrim has brought me back here, because good lord do I just want to grab everything everywhere forever. And my inventory limit simply does not agree with my life choices on that front.
I think Skyrim was the game that got me to break away from my completionist tendencies too, because It’s just a game that I don’t think would be fun to fully complete after a while. It’d just burn thin too soon.
Tumblr media
Hell yeah! That’s a game I played a ton of when I first started it. I think my second session with that game was somewhere around eight hours, but then Zelda came out and I just stopped. I want to finish that game before the end of the year, if anything to see the story through, but those open world games just bring the most out of all of us.
Tumblr media
BRING IT BACK.
BRING IT BACK.
BRING IT BACK.
Bloodborne is just so incredible. I love just letting myself go in that world too, because that truly is a game I could sit down with for an entire ExtraLife. I know it wasn’t your cup of tea, but I love it. The same has been true of all my other Souls experiences, because those are games that get their hooks in and just don’t let go. I think those are the games best suited to playing across multiple sessions too, since some time away is usually what you need to get past a boss you’re stuck on.
Tumblr media
The ultimate binge game: The Witcher 3. That’s a game that I couldn't really podcast with either, because every snippet of every conversation was just so compelling for me. But of course, the monster dens and boss fights were where the podcasts came in anyway. Boy. What a fucking game.
Thank you all for writing in your answers! I hope folks still like this format, and I’m excited to do more of these. Been thinking of ways to spice up Sunday Chats going forward, and while I have some soft ideas in the pipeline, we’ll see what I ultimately end up on.
As I said last week, I currently have no intention of doing a Sunday Chats next week as it’ll be as we wrap on ExtraLife 2017, and I’ll preferably be dead. But we’ll see! Just don’t expect one, and certainly won’t be taking questions.
Regardless, I’d love it if you tuned in next week, Saturday, starting at Noon Eastern Time, to watch us play games and do dumb stuff!
