The Funky Phantom Crew (Sans the Funky Phantom + 2 ocs)
Character Notes:
Skip Gilroy
Trans swag so immaculate that he had changed the least
Changes signature color from yellow to green
Neck is still long to compete Boo
April Stewart
Perky Goth Queen
Very Very dark blue to bring closer to her comic color scheme
There is a dent on the bottom of the nose to resemble a bit of her og design
Augie Anderson
Has pretty fucked up teeth
Shape the letterman jacket into likes of his og’s jacket
The way I characterize him is the opposite on how I characterized Augie Doggie (if you know you know)
Jenny Muddlemore
Prime colors at best
unnatural colored pupils
Takes after Mudsy genetically
Tuan Iverson
Sleek hair to contrast others
He only shares the same last name as an Iverson
Meant to look out of place compare to the crew

Title: The Funky Phantom
Seasons: 1
Episodes: 17
Run Time: 22 Mins
Original Air Date: September 11, 1971 - January 1, 1972
Synopsis:
Trying to find shelter from a storm while driving their "Looney Duney" dune buggy, three teenagers Skip Gilroy, April Stewart, Augie Anderson, and his dog Elmo, entered an old house where a grandfather clock displayed an incorrect time. Upon setting the clock to midnight, it released two Revolutionary War-era ghosts: an American patriot named Jonathan Wellington Muddlemore, whom the kids call "Mudsy", and his cat Boo. The two explained that, during the war, they had stumbled upon two Redcoats so they hid inside the clock. They evaded discovery, but they were unable to get out of the clock and eventually died inside. After being freed by their new friends, Mudsy and Boo have accompanied them on many mysteries, providing invisible assistance.
My Rating: 9/10
My Reasoning:
I LOVE this show! I honestly love the Scooby-Doo formula. I think it just works with a lot of different shows. I mean I guess if you don't like it then you probably won't enjoy these kinds of shows as much as I do. The only reason I don't give it a ten is because the characters to me aren't quite on the same level as the Scooby-Doo characters. I like them but just not as much. Sometimes, the ghost gets on my nerves a bit too. Not enough for me to dislike the show though.
Anyway, it's great and you should watch it.

Some headcannons worth pondering
Undercover Elephant spending a snowy evening between cases with some Puerto Rican coffee and toasted crumpets--and the crumpets turn out to be rather rich-tasting and yet chewy.
Yukayuka pulling off a honkytonk piano treatment of Richard Clayderman's "Ballade pour Adelaine."
Magilla Gorilla passing out bananas to passerby at an impromptu meet-and-greet, not to mention posing for selfies and autographs.
The Funky Phantom's Augie Anderson and Skip Gilroy developing a fondness for roast beef sandwiches, especially the French dip sort.
So what precautions does Satchel with the Skatebirds take with his pelican-model beak to protect such from injury and damage on especially inline skating runs?
Crazy Claws, now something of a raconteur in Wisconsin Dells, getting an opportunity to pilot one of the Lower Dells jet boats, right down to the corny narration.
Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy, as part of their holiday cookie baking, trying their hand at the German Christmas tradition of Pfeffernusse (even if such requires some "mellowing" in the dress closet well ahead of Christmas to enhance the flavour).
And you wonder how Squiddly Diddly can manage to dive well in fresh water as much as ocean water ...

!!!NOT A WCIF!!!!
hiiii <3 big ask big answer is what i'm expecting would LOVE to know your top 5/faves across various media that are new(in release or just new to you) this year! so: shows, movies, games, books, songs/albums, new artists you've discovered etc
HI IMO 🫶 happy bday btwwww!!!!! heres my top five seven of this year in no particular order 😈
LAUREL HELL by mitski (2022)
one thing about me is that i LOVE mitski... i've been waiting for the new album ever since working for the knife dropped in 2021 and she did not disappoint literally so many of the songs were SO relatable and applicable to my life its safe to say she carried me thru early 2022... heat lightning and should've been me are my two fav songs from the album but literally the whole thing is no skips for me
EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE directed by daniel kwan and daniel scheinert (2022)
no bcos i walked into this movie hearing so many good things about it i was kind of worried ab it being underwhelming to my expectations But It Was Not. it made me bawl the first time i watched it highkey 🤭 something about the specific flavour of parental... disappointment?? love??? it was beautifully crafted and stephanie hsu's performance to me was unforgettable im probably going to go watch her entire portfolio ive watched the vid below like 10 times
youtube
MOB PSYCHO 100 from one and studio bones (2016-2022)
jort recommended this show to me and i finally bit the bullet and watched it in may... ITS SO BEAUTIFUL. IT JUST. clenches fist idkkk this show just is stunning on so many levels visually its my fav anime i think??? so many frames that will live in my head forever... also the nature of the narrative about Kindness without the like framework of whether its "deserved" or you're worthy of giving or receiving it really spoke to me. hats off to jort for this i'm rlly glad i got to start it while the show was airing
youtube
SMITHEREENS by joji (2022)
unfortunately i am genuinely a joji fan so i was super hyped for this album... he's got such a melancholy(?) tone to his music that rlly speaks to me i think if i seriously made music i would probably want to emulate that if even a little. my only criticism is i wished the album was longer HDKSHSK die for you and 1am freestyle r my favourite songs from it
NOPE directed by jordan peele (2022)
what hasn't already been said about this movie. IT'S SO GOOD. i love my horror movies but i will freely admit that like 80% of the films in the entire genre are just objectively Bad especially american made horror movies 🤭 jordan peele completely sidesteps that issue and nope has to be my fav of his works so far i think. it has layers like an onion i'm still thinking about it like months after watching it... mr peele already had a fan in me for life but this solidifies it
youtube
ANDOR created by tony gilroy (2022-?)
okay hear me out i know its star wars (👎) and thus my opinion on the franchise has generally been biased but this show literally knocked my ass into the water it was so unexpectedly good? and not good in a pitying oh at least x character from x series made a cameo NO the show like knew exactly what it was trying to say and said it beautifully. diego lunas performance was genuinely so moving i highly recommend everyone even if u havent watched star wars!! u dont need like all the context just watch a new hope and rogue one after the show? maybe
youtube
ICYMI by eden (2022)
finishing off with my personal fav artist of all tiiime 🥰🥰🥰 ive been literally obsessed with his music the second i found it so i was waiting patiently for this album for ages. no skip ass album i just fucking love his music it feels like im levitating it feels like my soul is being read. if i made music and it had even a sliver of this albums energy i'd die a happy man. i literally listened to nothing but it for like a week straight i think. my fav songs from it are balling and closer 2

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1: I really respect what a cartoon The Mandalorian is at this point. The previous Star Wars TV series, Andor, was a serious adult drama about compelling human characters with complex motivations that could withstand novels worth of analysis. It was also nearly devoid of alien creatures and droids, because Tony Gilroy wasn't as comfortable with the sillier aspects that make Star Wars what it is. Instead we get a political drama about the actual motivations behind people who would rebel against an oppressive empire, and about those who think they can succeed in it. ("I'm going to get such a good grade in fascism." Those types.) Andor is wonderful, in its own way, but I can't imagine it appealing to children in the same way Star Wars traditionally has.
The Mandalorian series threads that needle much better, having the tone of a Star Wars film while still fitting vaguely into a prestige TV drama timeslot. Indeed its main innovation is finding ways to do Star Wars things well on a TV budget. It feels more like the same universe as Return of the Jedi and the animated Clone Wars, whose continuity has been folded into this series. You expect that cartoon characters like Hondo Ohnaka might show up at any moment. It's more like the dumb cartoon that Star Wars has always actually been, and it's not surprising that it's heavily merchandised.
I think that both approaches are valid, and it was good to see a more intelligent writing style in Andor. But there are certain things that make Star Wars, Star Wars, and The Mandalorian has them. More so than the decent but somehow disappointing Obi-Wan Kenobi, which drew only from the movie canon rather than the animated (Clone Wars) canon, and felt a little bit cheap and unambitious, despite succeeding in most of what it attempted to do - a last hurrah for the stars of the prequel trilogy.
There's also the matter of The Book of Boba Fett, a slightly underwhelming Mandalorian spinoff which many viewers skipped, and will feel annoyed about having to watch now, in order to catch up to the story. At this point I'd actually say Book of Boba Fett is underrated. The character connecting to the Tusken Raiders, and connecting to his own indigenous heritage, felt meaningful. But it also felt like trying and failing to develop characters who weren't meant to be more than background. It also fails to find its own identity, turns into a mini-season of The Mandalorian, and recreates a major character with a very flat AI voice. (A character whose actor is still around, no less. And doesn't get away with it, the way Obi-Wan Kenobi did.) I ended up baffled at the direction the plot had turned to, with a lot of unanswered questions, none of which had anything to do with Boba Fett himself. Questions about the Jedi order, and what became of it, and the strange choice to have characters repeat the mistakes of the past. Questions about the various sects of Mandalorians, which ties into Clone Wars canon. Lots of questions. Maybe this series will answer them.
At this point, The Mandalorian is just dumb enough. It's possible that it will become too dumb, at some point. There's a very specific target it needs to hit, where the drama of the characters is still interesting, and it's delivering all manner of outlandish Star Wars visual flavor, without actually becoming stupider than a pile of rocks. I wish it luck at threading the needle, in the same way that Pedro Pascal's lead character navigates his way out of danger.
