Honestly, I'm not excited for Amethio's whole arc(??) It's gonna be so angsty and I'm not prepared.
In the opening we see how truly alone Amethio is, whilst everyone had happier scenes, especially the two scenes surrounding Amethio's being more family-like as some mentioned before, Amethio is alone, training intensly with his Corviknight and Ceruledge, probably to be recognised, be a more valuable asset, and to show that he isn't a kid anymore, he's an independent "adult", or he's adult enough to be treated like one, paired with the lyrics which are something along the lines of running to a future which is a simile(??) as Amethio did run to his future, he grew up too fast, he is mature for his age because he wants to prove that he is useful and that he isn't a kid anymore and is actually independent enough to be taken seriously.
I'm also interested in what will happen next, because imo these are the things that Amethio could/might do within the next episodes:
- Isolate himself in a fit of sadness and guilt for loosing a battle, he might even feel that he is not good enough, unworthy and that he Ceruledge down.
- He might even start to train intensly again, (this might be during his isolation or completely diffrent), and train more intense, channeling all his negative emotions and feelings into his training to get better in hopesnto show that he is good enough,
- He may also build his walls up higher, trying to squeeze any bit of emotion left in him out, and try to completely block everything out, which may cause him to push everyone away,
- He might go the completely diffrent route and his mask will crumble further until he's vulnerable around others, (most likely around Zir and Conia though, as he'll probably try to act mature around the admins, or as mature as he can)
- He may also take more missions to distract himself from the pain and guilt, hoping that these emotions will pass, (Although I do think that he wouldn't do this, mostly because he disobeyed his superior and I think he wouldn't be afraid to do it again,)
Idk though, I just really hope he gets to heal, (A meaning of Amethyst is 'healing' or smthng similar, and Gamfreak doesn't randomly choose names, so it only makes sense), if he doesn't get to heal, I'll re-write cannon to make sure he does. Gamefreak isn't rlly afraid to give trauma to sons (and daughter) of pokémon villains, so it would make sense for Amethio to be the son of Gibeon, but I just hope that he doesn't get physically abused by Gibeon, I'd cry istg-

What’s your top three beloved Pokemon? And if you have them— your top three most hated Pokemon?
omg hi Sofie!! :0 Get ready because I have a whole lot to say about this.
Most Beloved:
Number 1: Squirtle
My absolute favorite is squirtle. What's funny about this is I can't really pinpoint a specific reason why I like him so much. My first pokemon game was alpha sapphire, and I didn't play gen 1 until Let's Go Eevee, so it's not a nostalgia factor. I think my brain just subconsciously selected him back when I was watching the Indigo League anime in middle school. The squirtle squad showed up and my brain was like "Yeah. This guy. He's awesome. This is the one." And he has been my number 1 favorite fella ever since then, and as a consequence he is the pokemon I have the most merch of and it isn't really close.
Tumblr media
Please keep in mind this is just what I have in my apartment where I live for college, and that I have even more stuff in my bedroom back at home. Now that I think about it, Koopa Troopa is my favorite mario character, so maybe I have an affinity for characters that are just little turtles. Either way, water is also my favorite type, which means even more bonus points for squirtle.
Number 2: Riolu
Riolu's high ranking has been somewhat of a recent development for me. I've always liked lucario, but I didn't see the light that was riolu until after I watched Pokemon Journeys. Ash's riolu was so silly and adorable, and I always felt so bubbly inside when he was on screen. This shift in my preference is probably due to me developing a major soft spot for cute characters/creatures over the past few years. Most of my favorite pokemon at this point are just little guys because of it. Anyways, the reason I like him so much is because of the aura control him and lucario are capable of. I've always loved aura as a power system; the idea of being able to harness one's own life energy and see it in others is just so cool to me. I especially like how it's established as its own concept outside of moves in pokemon, making it something super unique that only riolu's evolutionary line can take advantage of. I have a lot of lore/worldbuilding ideas for PMD that would utilize aura. For example, Milo, the protagonist of the PMD verse I've been brainstorming, on is a riolu with much stronger aura than normal due to him being a pokemon with a human soul. I have a lot of ideas for how I could use this concept to drive plot points or character arcs, and I might share more in the future if I ever get time to start solidifying a story.
By the way, Milo's partner, Lilly, is a squirtle. No way I don't give both of my two favorites the spotlight.
Number 3: Sprigatito
My love of sprigatito is really quite simple. I love cats. So much. They are easily my number one favorite animal of all time. My Instagram feed is covered in them. So imagine my excitement when I saw that one of the new generation 9 starters was a kitty. My violet team is my favorite team I've ever used in a pokemon game, and the sprigatito line is a massive part of why I love it so much. Sprigatito is adorable, and my meowscarada was so much fun to use after he evolved. On top of that, sprigatito's depiction in Pokemon Horizons makes me love it even more. It's literally just a cat. It loafs. It makes biscuits.. It gets annoyed at the mildest inconvenience. Liko squishes its beans. Plus it releases a super sweet scent when you cuddle it as a bonus. It's so perfect. It's like Game Freak was like "Yeah this is the perfect pokemon for Ray, put it in the game." I have a sprigatito character in my PMD verse named Mayple, but I can't share much about her because it would mean dropping pretty big spoilers for a plot point I have planned.
Honorable Mentions: Greninja and Ceruledge
I love ninjas. I love frogs. Greninja is both. And ceruledge is just objectively one of the coolest pokemon designs ever.
In terms of behated pokemon, I don't have many that I personally despise. It's more so that I feel indifferent about them, and I would simply prefer not to use them on my teams. Usually I don't have any real reason to dislike the ones I do hate; I think it just stems from a gut feeling. The biggest one off the top of my head is the tepig line. I don't know what it is, something just feels off about them. I also dislike incineroar. I like litten and torracat a lot, but they really dropped the ball with the final evolution for me.
That's about all I have. This was really fun to do! Thank you so much for submitting this ask. I look up to you and your work a lot, and it made my night when I got the notification. I'm still pretty new to Tumblr, so I don't know exactly how I'm supposed to do things around here. I want to try to meet more people here, but my social anxiety and tendency to overthink online interactions usually shuts down anything before it can happen. Because of that, being able to answer something simple like this means a lot!! Thank you!! :D

I've been wanting to try my hand at writing Friede and the others so I decided to give it a shot by writing out a sort of in between scene from the end of episode 2 to the start of episode 3! I may write more of these in between scenes in the future as more episodes come out. The way I write him and the others might also change considering I'm working on from four episodes worth of potential characterization thus far. Still, I hope this is decent!
Series: Pokemon Horizons (Episode 2-3)
Characters involved: Friede, Cap, Orla
--
As unbelievable as the power of that Leafage was (not to mention, how decisive its route was in hitting Amethio directly if not for his Ceruledge blocking it), the ship’s barrier had taken far too much damage. The moment it fell, heavy rain pelted down upon everyone once the strong winds blew away the last of Sprigatito’s Leafage.
Friede’s priority immediately went to Liko and Sprigatito; the pair were in danger of getting blown right off. He swiftly went for Liko but he wasn’t quick enough to catch her Pokemon. For a split second, Friede wondered if they were going to witness a tragedy once Sprigatito skidded right off–
Amethio’s quick release of his Corviknight ensured that Sprigatito was saved but at the expense of it now being in the Explorers’ grasp as they flew away. Friede could only watched helplessly while Liko cried out for her Sprigatito until the group disappeared from sight.
Much as he wanted to chase after them, Friede had to ensure his crew’s safety first and foremost. Without the barrier, it was far too dangerous to keep flying in this storm.
“Liko, I’m sorry about what happened but I need help in checking up on the Pokemon while I go check on the ship,” Friede spoke, gentle yet firm to the obviously distraught teen. The light squeeze he gave to her shoulders seemed to snap her out of it.
“R-Right. I can–I can do that.”
Friede helped her to her feet and together, they braved through the short walk towards the cockpit under the storm’s whipping winds. The pair were dripping wet by the time they entered but this was no time to worry about tracking water inside.
“I’ll leave it to you, Liko!”
“Y-Yes!”
While Liko went to where Mollie and the other Pokemon were at, Friede and Cap went back to the wheel. Murdock had been keeping the ship steady but he could tell that this storm had him struggling.
“Thanks Murdock! We can take it from here. Go help Mollie and Liko in checking up on the Pokemon.” Friede gently placed a hand on the cook’s shoulder, nodding once.
“Alright. Man, things sounded crazy out there, let me tell you that…” Murdock briefly shook his head before slipping past him to head where everyone else was. In that brief moment, Friede had taken out his Rotom Phone to instruct Orla with using Charizard for more firepower in the engine room again. They were going to need all the speed they could muster to battle against the winds.
With Cap in his seat, Friede grabbed hold of the wheel. Time to get out of here.
Friede only relaxed the moment Brave Asagi entered calmer waters. He released an exasperated breath, shoulders slumping.
“Man, that was sure something, eh Cap?” he asked, glancing back at his Pikachu.
Cap gave an empathetic nod in agreement. After the excitement from earlier, he sat back heavily against the chair.
Friede flashed a faint grin before his expression settled into something heavier. Now that they were out of danger, he couldn’t help but think back on the fact that he was unable to save Sprigatito from falling into the Explorers’ clutches. They could easily use it as a bargaining chip against them for Liko’s pendant.
Then again, with their explicit interest in grabbing both Liko and the pendant, he wondered if they would even do so in the first place. Why bother exchange one when they wanted both? Still, this all hinged on the fact if they could find Sprigatito in the first place.
Fingers ran through damp hair. Gah, there were a lot of stuff to think about now. They weren’t being very good bodyguards at the moment but Friede was determined to rectify that mistake. Once he made sure of the crew’s safety, he was going to find where the Explorers headed off to. Given the storm and the fact that they had Sprigatito, logically they wouldn’t venture too far out if they wanted to use it as a bargaining chip.
“Come on Cap. Let’s go check up on everyone.”
Once Cap climbed onto his shoulder, Friede set the auto pilot on for the time being before leaving the cockpit. First thing was to check up on the Pokemon. That last Psycho Cut veered dangerously close to where most of them were hiding at.
Stepping out into the now clear night, Friede shivered briefly from the blast of cool air. Right, he was still in damp clothes. Not much time to change during the heat of the moment.
“Ah Friede, there you are,” Orla called out. He turned out to see her walking towards him with Fuecoco and Charizard in tow. “Things calmed down enough that I can leave the engine to Slugma and Coalossal for now.” She crossed her arms. “You really had us pushing it.”
“Ah, sorry about that,” he apologized, rubbing the back of his head. “I was hoping we could shake the Explorers off our tail but…”
“Mm, I heard what happened from Mollie. The Pokemon are all fine by the way cause I know you'd be worried about that,” Orla picked up from where he trailed off. “They got her Sprigatito, huh?”
“Yeah but we’ll get it back.” Friede gestured for Charizard to come closer. With Orla's confirmation, he could set out immediately. “We’ll go and see if we can find any leads on their whereabouts.”
“Now hold up. I get that it’s important but you can spare a bit of time in changing into some dry clothes.” Orla eyed him critically. “Mollie had Liko change into her spare clothes while her uniform gets dried. You mister were out in the storm and haven’t changed since. You better do that before you catch a cold and Mollie gets on your case for it.”
Whatever protest he might have lost credibility the moment he turned his head away to sneeze, shivering after.
“Alright, you have a point,” he grumbled, rubbing his nose with a finger. “I’ll go change. After that, I’ll head out with Charizard and Cap to see if we can find anything.”
“Okay. I’ll look after Liko and the rest. I’ll take stock on what sort of repairs we’re going to have to do later. Also get Liko settled in my room for tonight. Poor girl could probably use the sleep after everything that happened today.” Orla extended her hand, smiling. “You be careful out there, okay Friede?”
“Thanks Orla. I’ll trust you with that.” Friede too extended his hand and together, they did their signature gesture. “And don’t worry, I will.”
The Explorers might have a head start on them but Friede knew they’d be able to find them sooner or later. He won’t stop until Sprigatito returned safely to Liko’s side.

TFP as Pokemon
Rescue Bots Animated
@gelu-the-babosa-multiversal @cf8wrk4u-us The final piece of this little project!
Optimus Prime
Pokémon: Arcanine
Moves: Fire Fang, Roar, Flamethrower, Retaliate
Reason: Since Optimus is the leader of the Autobots, considered something of a legend since he was chosen by the matrix to become a prime, I wanted a Pokémon that wasn't just strong, but considered majestic and respected, and Arcanine is literally called the 'Legendary Pokémon', and is highly respected, I came to the conclusion that Optimus is a Arcanine.
Ratchet
Pokémon: Organguru
Moves: Calm Mind, Instruct, Zen Headbutt, Last Resort
Reason: Ratchet is a medic, a bit of a mentor figure to the kids, especially Raf, and he doesn't really go into battle as much as the others, so I thought Oranguru was best since they don't really go into action much and are said to provide medicine to Pokémon.
Bumblebee
Pokémon: Passimian
Moves: Focus Energy, Rock Smash, Protect, Reversal
Reason: This might be hard to explain, but I think Bumblebee is this Pokémon because of his loyalty to not just the team, but Raf and Passimian is a Pokémon all about teamwork, with one as the troop's leader. And Bumblebee's story throughout TFP and RiD shows him go from follower to leader, which sort of reminds me of how I imagine Passimian function when it comes to their troops.
Arcee
Pokémon: Weavile
Moves: Slash, Night Slash, Quick Attack, Agility
Reason: An unusual choice, I admit, but after some thinking, I think Weavile suits her better. I think Weavile goes well with Arcee's swiftness and nimbleness, her loner attitude while still being loyal to her team, and how cold she can come across at first glance before warming up to others.
Bulkhead
Pokémon: Mabosstiff
Moves: Headbutt, Protect, Double-Edge, Reversal
Reason: Might seem like a weird choice, but I really think it makes sense because they actually have much in common. They are both tough, they may seem brutish, but are caring and kind and protectors of kids. Plus, in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Arven's Mabosstiff's story kind of reminds me of when Bulkhead was seriously injured.
Cliffjumper
Pokémon: Tauros
Moves: Horn Attack, Thrash, Zen Headbutt, Swagger
Reason: Not going to lie, the horns on his head was a contributing factor to why I chose this Pokémon, but also because both are tough that like a good fight.
WheelJack
Pokémon: Samurott (Hisuian form)
Moves: Ceaseless Edge, Slash, Razor Shell, Retaliate
Reason: He has always given me lone warrior vibes, especially with his Katanas, it just gives me wondering ronin vibes. I especially chose Hisuian form because it's a version that fights dirty and Wheeljack often clashes with others over different way of doing things, but eventually proves to be loyal and that he's on their side.
Smokescreen
Pokémon: Boltund
Moves: Charge, Wild Charge, Play Rough, Electric Terrain
Reason: I think Smokescreen has similar vibes to a Boltund. It's hard to explain, but Smokescreen's personality, his energy, excitement and impulsiveness to fight sort of reminds me of how I see a Boltund, as an excitable dog that just needs proper guidance and training to reach their potential. Also, I wanted to have another dog Pokémon to sort of go with Optimus since he was considered to be his successor at one point.
Ultra Magnus
Pokémon: Armarouge
Moves: Expanding Force, Armor Cannon, Lava Plume, Psyshock
Reason: Armarouge is a loyal pokemon created from the armor of a distinguished warrior and Ultra Magnus is loyal to Optimus and the Autobots and I imagine that as leader of the Wreakers, he is a distinguished warrior himself. I also chose this because Ultra Magnus is serious, by-the-book, and strict military figure, and I imagine Armarouge being something similar.
Megatron
Pokémon: Ceruledge
Moves: Bitter Blade, Swords Dance, Shadow Claw, Fire Blast
Reason: I think Ceruledge matches well with this version of Megatron. It reminds me of Megatron's past as a gladiator and it evolves from the grudge of a fallen warrior, and Megatron is a warrior with a grudge against Optimus.
Starscream
Pokémon: Golispod
Moves: Defense Curl, First Impression, Spite, Fury Cutter
Reason: This was the toughest, but in the end, I went with Golisopod, mostly because its evolution is similar to Starscream change from TFP to RiD, becoming more a threat compared to the more cowardly conniving punk he started out as. Plus, in TFP, when he wasn't listening to his ego and cowardice, proved to be a capable fighter and could come up with decent plans. Golispod is tough, but when its health is low enough, it would retreat and make another Pokémon battle in its place.
Soundwave
Pokémon: Skeledirge
Moves: Torch Song, Will-O-Wisp, Hex, Snarl
Reason: Another one hard to explain, but ultimately, I went with this pokemon because the little firebird sort of reminds me of Lazerbeak, and Soundwave is a communications officer and Skeledirge sings as a way of communicating, and with the Ghost-Typing, it can be stealthy like Soundwave, and I wanted a Pokémon that could work with Megatron since they are close from their gladiator days. Both are Gen 9 Pokémon that are Fire/Ghost types.
Knock-Out
Pokémon: Roserade
Moves: Sunny Day, Solar Beam, Giga Drain, Poison Jab
Reason: After much research and consideration, I decided that he would be a Roserade. Knock-out is vain and Roserade is considered beautiful, Knock-out is a medic but also a bit of a torturer, Roserade knows healing moves, but is part Poison-Types. And both are pretty strong in a fight.
Breakdown
Pokémon: Krookodile
Moves: Outrage, Swagger, Thrash, Earthquake
Reason: Honestly, not much to really say about this one. Breakdown is a brute and gives me bully vibes and Krookodile is part Dark-Type and is considered the 'Bully of the Sands'
Dreadwing
Pokémon: Lucario
Moves: Aura Sphere, Metal Claw, Calm Mind, Counter
Reason: An interesting choice, I ultimately chose Lucario because Dreadwing is interesting compared to other Decepticons, because of the bond he had with his brother, and his code of honor, which causes him to work with Optimus to do what he believes is right. And he is skilled and loyal enough to reach second-in-command, until he learned what Starscream did to his brother, showing his care for Skyquake trumps his loyalty to Megatron.
Airachnid
Pokémon: Gourgeist
Moves: Scary Face, Shadow Ball, Trick-or-Treat, Power Whip
Reason: First of all, none of the spider Pokémon worked for her, in my opinion. Second, I chose Gourgeist because, similar to Airachnid, it can be rather sadistic as it takes joy from the suffering of others, not even kids are safe. If I had to choose which size Gourgeist would be, I'd say Large-Size because Cybertronians are bigger than humans, but she isn't the biggest among them.
Shockwave
Pokémon: Malamar
Moves: Psycho Cut, Foul Play, Psybeam, Hyper Beam
Reason: Not much to really say, other than Shockwave is intelligent and evil and Malamar is intelligent and evil, plus their colors kind of match each other, so there's that.
Predaking
Pokémon: Mewtwo
Moves: Ancient Power, Aura Sphere, Psystrike, Take Down
Reason: I wasn't sure about this at first, but after looking to Mewtwo and Predaking's origins, this was too perfect. Both were cloned from another creature, who I'm pretty sure were altered a bit from their original, both were created for malevenat purposes, which led them to distrusting others while caring only for their own species (humans for Mewtwo and the Autobots for Predaking), but eventually grows to respect them.
Sorry for taking so long, but life has been keeping me busy, and this was the toughest of the three, but I hope you all enjoy it. This was super fun to do, and I might do something like this again in the future.

Fun factoid!
When Ceru grows up into a full fledged Ceruledge (I hate how that rhymed). She'd be a confident Pokemon who's a somewhat proud of her speed even though it doesn't line up with her nature, that being Brave. I keep seeing her being kinda like Nemona when it comes to Pokemon battles too. By that I mean She'd rarely turn down the chance to have a good, fun and fair (I'm aware of the dex entry) Pokemon battle.
Note: by "fair" I mean She'd sooner fight relying on her abilities, the abilities of her allies and friends and the strength of her trainer. She'd still do whatever it takes to try and get the win like a Ceruledge would. But she can take a loss for the most part too.
Bonus thing: I'm so far behind in pkmn horizons lol. The most recent episode I can remember had whats her face basically throw battles to help the lad with Fuecoco (I can't remember spelling). Sprigatito was rightfully mad at trainer. If Trainer, for whatever reason, had Ceru and kept throwing like she did. Ceru would get mad and start to disobey (unless the situation was serious but then trainer has shown to step up).
Skylertheminish.
(I hope we get to see Charcadet and Armarouge later in the series with Ceruledge).
Yeah, that sounds about right for Ceru. Spunky and feisty with a fighting spirit. Notch is almost the opposite when he gets older.
I know a LOT of people are behind on Horizons since they're following the English dub. I follow the Japanese dub because I'm impatient. We haven't seen Amethio or Ceruledge in about two months. But the upcoming episodes will be going back to the Explorers, so we'll finally see the two best characters again.
I'm so damn excited to see Amethio use his new Tera Orb on Ceruledge, who we know has the Ghost Tera type thanks to a magazine teasing it awhile back.

Note
Notch is going to take the smol knights outside at night so he can show them all the constellations he learned about!
Ceru could hardly contain her excitement as she watched everyone from the window setup a camp outside in the garden. She ran about the house until it was time to go out. Carer barely had to crack the door open before Ceru was there trying to squeeze through "Back up lass, back up". She did as asked but as soon as there was a big enough gap she took off like a rocket! Though thankfully she wasn't blasting off beyond the garden walls.
Carer just shook his head and gave a faint smile at the little eager knight. Heading inside he called out for the other two "Arma! Notch! Its ready, you can go out now". Arma came bounding out when called, jogging up to Carer asking for pets before following the greater knight outside.
"Have fun you three. If it gets too cold just head back inside aye".
Ceru and Arma played for awhile until Notch called for their attention. He wanted to tell them what he learned about the stars. Ceru listened as best as she could. Not quite understanding everything he said but had a general idea.
Arma on the other hand had little difficulty understanding what Notch telling them. In fact it brought back yet more long lost memories for the juvenile knight.
Lost, happy memories.
But when Notch mentioned there was a new constellation, one based on a Ceruledge, did both of the little knights eyes light up!
" Peas tell us about dat one! Pwetty pweas?"
"Yes! Please tell us more about the Starlit knight!"

Reactions/Thoughts about Today's Pokemon Direct (Feb 2024)
First off: I was predicting a Johto remake over a Unova remake. Because LGPE counts as part of the remake cycle.
I also pre-made a bingo card, so I was paying attention for these things:
Tumblr media
I was still setting up during the intro, so I didn't even process the Unown.
Plush in back! Check! (That was going to be obvious)
SV event is Tera Raids, no Mythical. Might still be coming?
Pokemon GO is a tie-in to Horizons with a couple of new species. Neat. No Gigantamax (honestly with how Raids are what Dynamax is based on, I'm not sure how that'll be introduced).
Legendary in Sleep!!!! (I actually play this game, so I'm excited.) I was tempted to put Mew or something as my Sleep prediction, but I thought that was too far-fetched this early and a Unova tie-in would be appropriate if there were Unova remakes. Wait... Johto beasts? Johto..?
Master's EX has Silver on spotlight! Check off the Johto character on spotlight in Master's EX slot! No Unova characters, it seems. We have Geeta, the Aether family, and Riley, which are from neither region. Two Johto things, though...
Cafe Remix has some Paldea Pokemon. I haven't played this game since it came out and every time I think about going back I remember I got stuck on a puzzle and I seemed to need to pay for a microtransaction to win so I just don't.
Unite I randomly guessed Terapagos and I was wrong. Lots of Ceruledge today.
This TCG thing appeals to me. Very much appeals to me. I played TCGO pretty much only logging in daily so I could open a pack every five days - the actual gameplay took way too long. Opening two packs every day with a shorter type of gameplay? Appeals very much. I am the target audience here.
Oh and exploring the artwork? Having the artwork actually designed to look good on the phone's screen? I am the target audience. I love this. I want this now.
Wait, Unown in this transition. Unown in the intro. Johto Beasts. Silver. We're getting Johto this year! I was right!
That font in the Confidential writing... reminds me of the Team Rocket Pokegear style in HGSS.
City design? Is this a spin-off actually?
There's an awful lot of Kalos Pokemon...
That's the Eiffel Tower type thing. It is Lumiose!?
It's a Legends title! And Z! In 2025!
I absolutely did not expect this. I expected something unexpected, which is why I put "No Legends Title" on my card, but I did not expect them to skip over Johto AND Unova to head straight to a Kalos revisit.
Z-A is the actual name. AZ's whole plot took place 3000 years ago, and this isn't 3000 years ago. By other people's saying when the Eiffel Tower went up, it's taking plaace more like 150 years ago, which is contemporary (within 30 or so years) of Legends: Arceus's real-world equivalent.
But Z-A might mean we go back in time further? Maybe? That'd be interesting. But as always, I can't get my hopes up too much.
The A definitely looks stylized like it's an actual Pokemon like Z is Zygarde, but it's not one we know. Mysterious.
2025 is a good sign. Though Legends: Arceus came out in January of the target year and it still seemed it could have used some polish. Not as bad as Scarlet/Violet, but it certainly looked worse than Sword/Shield and Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee. So I hope they release it when it's actually polished, not just functional. I hope to see trailers for it in next year's Pokemon Day Pokemon Presents, and its inclusion this year was only because there's no other real headline.
As for my Bingo card?
Tumblr media
No Bingos.

Hang on I just discovered that the upcoming raid event with Stonjourner, Eiscue, Armarouge and Ceruledge is (according to Serebii) not version-exclusive (you’d think that the fact that Eiscue is on the left and Armarouge is on the right in the announcement banner would’ve tipped me off about that but apparently not) and while I originally took this as an opportunity to catch as many Armarouge (and Stonjourner) in Scarlet and as many Ceruledge (and Eiscue) in Violet as possible, I’m excited to expand out a bit and fill some extra slots in my Pokédex. I think my shinies and Empoleon may end up leaving my team in favour of an Eiscue/Stonjourner and Ceruledge/Armarouge
Ooh, when the Chars meet their opposite-version counterparts (except I’m not also calling these two Char and they’ll hopefully have their secondary types as their Tera types given those are the ones promoted on the banner)! I bet Char the Armarouge would be really excited to meet her new teammate (who’s just like “stop. Leave me alone”) while Char the Ceruledge is just like “oh great, another Charcadet evo (or as you call us, Fire Knight). Is this an excuse to replace me or mock me for my height because I swear to Giratina at least Spriggie has my back. Why is that trickster cat the only one around here who has my back? This is why I hate life” (disclaimer: last night I realised it’s not impossible to get Pokémon of not-average height in raids, I believe when I checked with the height rater in Mesagoza Cyanide the Ceruledge is the same height as Char the Ceruledge and I know I caught Cyanide in a raid. It’s actually a funny story, one time I battled this Poison Tera type Ditto in a raid with both Spriggie and Char (I lost/quit a few times) and then later on I battled a Poison Tera type Ceruledge in a raid so in a way, I’ve battled Poison Tera type Ceruledge twice in raids in Violet already (and damn, Ceruledge rocks the Poison Tera hat and coating). Sadly no funny experience like that in Scarlet yet). I guess the Armarouge in that situation is just like “how is it I’m not even the only Psychic-type on the team and I’m still the only one who hasn’t broken any laws recently?” To be fair, I don’t think Stonjourner’s breaking any laws either but my Violet aces (Spriggie the Meowscarada, Char the Ceruledge, Knight the Iron Valiant and Cherry the Iron Leaves) are another story

Valerie struggles to carry the whole stack of gifts, not because of the weight, but the height may make them tumble!
"Sorry guys, I'm not great at gifting. But I tried my best!"
Jet got a book of vinyl Arcanine stickers. There's hundreds in the book. Makoto received a pair of aviator sunglasses. Valerie hands Morgan a big box that has a welding mask painted like a Ceruledge.
Michael gets a Lechonk bank that has pixelated sunglasses. It oinks when he moves it. Rin got a set of screws. "Charis helped pick those out, for helping your Pokemon with upkeep," is the only explanation she gives.
Gatz and Haku both get stationary sets based on Pokemon Val has seen them have, Haku's has more recipe cards included. Gil gets an RGB keyboard. For Tamako, Valerie got a board of fried fruits and berries, along with jerky.
"I know this isn't exciting as other presents, but," Valerie gives Sofia a locket. "But you decide what treasure goes in there."
They were all surprised to see Valerie stumble in with a tall stack of presents. And when they were given out, they all responded positively.
Jet was so excited to use one of his Arcanine stickers that he roughly slapped one on Michael's ass. Michael wasn't thrilled about that, but he let it go since Jet was their leader.
Makoto put on the sunglasses and looked at herself in the camera of her phone. She felt kinda cool with these, and she loves it.
Morgan was actually upset they weren't at base right now so she could use her new Ceruledge welding mask. It looks sick as shit!
Michael was a tad indifferent as he doesn't carry change, but those sunglasses sold him on it.
Rin was confused at first, but then he remembered Mr. Stomps and nodded in approval that this would have been something he forgets to do if no one told him he should.
Gatz and Haku actually tapped their gift together like it was a toast.
Gil was actually thinking of needing to add another station to his project. A keyboard is the perfect excuse to do so.
Tamako? Oh hell yeah she likes it. She's especially excited to try the Jerky.
And Sofia?
Tumblr media
She is extremely moved. She loves it. But how will she ever decide on one picture to put in it?
Without a word, Sofia latches onto Valerie with a hug. Jet and Makoto join in hugging Valerie from the sides. Morgan joined the group hug from in front. And then Tamako...
Tumblr media
Comes from behind to wrap her arms around everyone as best as she could and lifts them off the ground with her hug.
Everyone is laughing and enjoying the love shared towards Valerie, except for Sofia who is hanging onto Valerie's legs for dear life.

I know we still have yet more Pokémon to be revealed in PKMN SV but do you have an idea on what team you're gonna use yet? ~Strike anon~
I’m choosing Sprigatito as my starter so I can name it after my late kitty. She will be my partner for this new adventure ^^
Ceruledge and Farigiraf are definite musts, I would love to have them on my team.
I may also get a Smoliv, though I like to try and stick to only a singular member having a certain type. Grass would overlap with Sprigatito, but I may make an exception and include Smoliv anyway if it’s evolution wins me over.
I wouldn’t mind trying out the others too! Usually when I play I will try out many different Pokémon along the way as I figure out my team. I’m excited to see what else is out there!

Pokémon Gym Leaders if they were from Paldea: Gen 1
Tumblr media
Ever wonder what it would be like to see the return of past Gym Leaders in Gen 9? Maybe there's a worldwide tournament that they're participating in, or maybe it's more of a group vacation.
#1 Brock
Tumblr media
Brock would be excited to try out some of the new Rock types in Paldea. Glimmora, Garganacl, and Klawf's Trap set-ups and general tankiness, plus Lycanroc's Dusk form as his speedy attacker, would make for a pretty balanced team to make-up for the lack of Fossil Pokémon in Paldea. Sudowoodo and Forretress would be there mostly as a reference to the anime, but also to show off Sturdy that is so common with Rock types. Forretress specifically would be Brock's Tera-Pokémon, paired with either Rock Tomb or Rock Slide for Brock to give to Trainers as a TM.
#2 Misty
Tumblr media
Misty's team is a good blend of familiar and new Pokémon alike. Golduck is an obvious choice considering her partner in the anime, while Whiscash offers some defense against Electric-types. Azumarill would be her heavy hitter, while Palafin and Wugtrio would offer a nice mix of speed and power. Finally, Misty would be excited to use Wooper's new evolution as a Tera-Pokémon, as Clodsire offers defense against Electric-types and can be paired with Waterfall as a last resort.
#3 Lt. Surge
Tumblr media
Lt. Surge would be throw Ampharos, Jolteon, and Raichu on his team, both for the Electric power they'd bring to his team as well as the fact that he used them during The War. He'd use Kilowattrel to speed up his team with Tailwind while also powering itself up a bit for some quick attacks, and a Hidden Ability Pawmot would offer some physical damage as well as type coverage. He'd wrap up the battle with Bronzong as his Tera-Pokémon finisher, taking advantage of Levitate to allow him to power up with Charge Beam while tanking through his opponent's attacks.
#4 Erika
Tumblr media
Erika doesn't just love Grass-type Pokémon, she loves Grass-type Pokémon that resemble plants. She'd enjoy the new dual-type pairings of Arboliva, Brambleghast, and Scovillain, while also utilizing the classic Grass-types Jumpluff and Lilligant. She'd select Stonjourner as her Tera-Pokémon for defense against Fire, Flying, and Bug types, but also because it can be used as shelf for potted plants when not in battle.
#5 Koga
Tumblr media
Being away from Kanto, Koga would want to take advantage of trying out the new Poison-types that Paldea has to offer. Did you know that Toxapex, Toxicroak, and Toxtricity all start would with "Tox"?. Because that's a large reason for their place on Koga's team. Besides that, he'd enjoy the type pairings of Grafaiai and Revavroom, although he would be a little disappointed that his personal favorite Crobat isn't in Paldea. No worries, though, because he'd have his new Noivern cosplaying as one with a Poison Tera-type. He'd also be the first Gym Leader to utilize the new move Tera Blast, which is fitting considering Noivern can't learn any Poison moves and Koga is the first Gym Leader of the back-half of the Gym Challenge.
#6 Sabrina
Tumblr media
Sabrina likes playing with dolls back home, so some of the first Pokémon she'd add to her Paldean team would be those those resembling humans, specifically Armorouge, Gallade, and Gardevoir. She'd also enjoy Rabsca and Veluza as dual-type Psychic pets that she can bring home to Kanto. Finally, because there's so many Ghost-types at her gym in Kanto, she'd use a Psychic Tera-type Mismagius to show off her spooky side.
#7 Blaine
Tumblr media
Blaine would enjoy the mix of Fire-types in Paldea to help him forget that he is a monster and a war criminal. Arcanine, Flareon, and the new form of Tauros would help keep him from getting homesick, while Torkoal can prepare the battlefield for them with Drought. Ceruledge looks quite similar to Blaine's most famous creation that murdered a bunch of people back home, so he'd enjoy using it on his team as well. Finally, Blaine seems like a weirdo who likes bugs, so a Fromantis with Fire tera-type would be a fun final addition to his team.
(NOTE: you are not a weirdo if you like bugs. Blaine is just a weirdo who happens to also like them)
#8 Giovanni
Tumblr media
Giovanni is a world-renowned criminal mastermind, so you'll find Ground-types from every region on his team rather than new Paldea-specific Ground-types. At least, this is what he tells people, and not the fact that all his fellow Gym Leaders caught the cool new Ground-Types first and he wanted to seem original. To back up this new team, Gio would also use a Persian with Ground tera-type and Dig, because he's a cat guy and that's not gonna change any time or any day.

So...this is all I have to say about Pokemon Horizons. I will not repeat it on this account. I have blocked the tag, and I have also blocked tags related to it. After this post, I want nothing to do with it. I just need to get this off my chest so I can move on.
If you’re excited for Ash’s replacements- do not read this. Nothing good in here. Continue scrolling and have a wonderful day.
If you’re not happy or ambivalent- welcome to my dungeon.
This show is gonna be Sue-Town and I hate it.
First, let me post my definition of a Mary Sue, because I’m sure someone will say “but you’re only saying that because Liko is a girl, you sexist pig! >:(”. Mary Sues are real, and they are not gender-locked. That is a myth perpetuated by Sue-lovers, who want to encourage people to write freely without being attacked. While that’s understandable for Little Miss Peggy writing her first fanfiction, it’s less acceptable for a big corporation. So I’m going to use the term “Sue” and ignore its baggage.
To determine what a Sue is, I use three rules. I made them in high school. I made some adjustments to spread away from fanfiction and use gender-neutral language. But the ideas still stick-
The character is “more” than human- usually a sign of author wish fulfillment. They look positively beautiful at all times, have no character flaws, and are generally free of the messiness of human beings.
Everything goes the character’s way. They face no real difficulties over the course of the story, and can do no wrong. Even if the author has to defy logic, they will clear the character’s shining path of all obstacles.
Other characters in the presence of this character alter their behavior. They may fall head over heels for this character, put them on a pedestal, or take them under their wing even if they normally wouldn’t. If the other character is a villain, the “problem” character will become main target of their hatred/jealousy/evil plan/etc. to provide the illusion of conflict. In short, the character is the primary concern of as many other characters as possible.
I can’t say if the Horizons cast will follow these rules at this point in time. But I have enough evidence that leans in this direction.
Liko and Roy both possess mysterious, powerful objects, despite being rookie Trainers. This could lead to Sue Rule 2 depending on how those objects are used. I can guarantee that one or more other parties are gonna want those items, which is Sue Rule 3.
The Rising Volt Tacklers and the Explorers are both tangled up with the protagonists- new Trainers with batfuck nothing except these rare and powerful items. This screams Sue Rule 3. Why else would these seemingly powerful groups tangle with newbies and/or care?
Liko’s only real struggle as of now is Sprigatito won’t listen to her. Which is just a copy of Ash’s Pikachu in Episode One. I’m going to take that with a huge grain of salt. If Liko’s first conflict is a copy of Ash’s first conflict, that’s an early sign she’s going to get swallowed by his shadow. Which doesn’t mean anything good for her as an individual character. Could be Sue Rule 1 later is she doesn’t have her own flaws.
Then, there’s this, which doesn’t make me confident-
Tumblr media
“It seems that pendant has a secret-”
*shows a fucking shiny legendary*
“-and that secret is linked to you.”
(Trailer here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c_hMehCORQ)
This could constitute Sue Rule 2 if Liko gets to keep that shiny, or otherwise control it. Giving the characters powerful Pokemon can help make their lives easier. Other characters start with powerful creatures like Charizard (Friede) and Ceruledge (Amethio). These aren’t legendaries, but remember how Ash’s first Trainer battles were against common, unevolved wimps? This seems like a bit much for new characters to deal with. Sure, they’re probably not fighting Charizard. But we know for sure Liko will go toe-to-toe with Amethio.
Which brings me to a problem all these characters share. They look so damn boring. Here’s the mentor! Here’s the rival/villain! Here’s the cheery announcer! They’re character types trying to fill the shoes of a very iconic character. It’s going to take a lot to step into that role successfully, including well-written characterizations. But, um, this ain’t Digimon, where characterization is a priority. Pokemon very rarely has knockout character development.
Which brings me back to Sue Rule 1. I don’t have enough evidence to securely convict anyone of Sue Rule 1 crimes. Well-written characters can overcome all these other issues. But boring/flat characters cannot. Their flatness exemplifies the minor issues, building into a tower of Sue-ism.
“But Ash made friends with legendary Pokemon! He did other stuff you whined about! He even saw Ho-Oh on Day One! Is he a Stu?”
Answer- no. Here’s why-
Ash breaks Sue Rule 1 because he has flaws, especially at the beginning. He is child-like and naive. His intelligence in any field outside of Pokemon (and food, kind of) is very low. At the start, he’s also arrogant and a sore loser.
Ash breaks Sue Rule 2 because he doesn’t get to keep the legendaries he meets long-term. The one mythical he does keep- Melmetal- has a bad losing streak. He loses more often than not. The three big tourneys he won were unheard of to most of the world (Orange Islands), in their infant stage (Alola) or required eight whole episodes to get through the last two battles alone (World Coronation).
Ash breaks Sue Rule 3 because he usually has to prove his worth to other characters. In later seasons, he’s respected as a powerful Trainer. But that’s only after he’s slogged through multiple tournaments and made his mark.
I kind of hope I’m being resistant to change. All of this could be proven wrong later. Horizons does have a bigger story focus than the original anime, which means the characters could be written better. But that also makes characterization even more important. I’m sure Horizons would be just fine as a special like Origins. But it’s meant to replace a world-famous legacy character, is throwing dazzling shit around to distract from basic writing issues, and not convincing me it’s wearing those twenty-six-year-old sneakers very well.
TL;DR- Horizons is a cast of Sues as of now. I could be wrong. There is plenty of time for me to be wrong. But the red flags are all present. Horizons is not providing the same heart that made the original anime a success- merely empty trinkets and fancy lights.
Post Script
As I said before, I’m not going to pester the Internet with this any more. This is a vent post to get my anger out. People who reblog this to steer away from the topic- or to attack me- will be blocked. People who come in later with “aged like milk, lol” will be ignored.
I’ll scope out Horizons just to see if I’m wrong. If I’m right, I’ll drop it like a hot potato and will never mention it again. It’s not worth stressing about it any more than I already have. I’d rather celebrate the character we lost than hate what replaced him.

hello hello. i dont know if you're into pokemon but I started playing Violet the other day and I tend to nickname my pokemon after whatever my current hyperfixation is so ofc right now they're getting mysme nicknames (right now my charcadet is (suit) Saeran (gonna evolve into ceruledge), my kirlia is Ray (gonna evolve into gardevior). i plan to catch a sneasel/weavile for unknown (totally didnt get the idea from an art i saw). Trying to pick something for saeyoung but nothing has felt right yet. an electric type? fire? maybe a dog pokemon bc with his loved ones saeyoung is both an excited puppy AND a guard dog)
ANYWAY so I started wondering about everyone's favorite twins and pokemon
What kind of pokemon do you think saeyoung and the various saerans would have? what would they be if they WERE pokemon? in a canon setting would they play pokemon?
i can see saeyoung with fire/steel/electric types, especially robot- or machine-like pokemon. ray/ge saeran with grass types is obvious, but I can also see him with fairy types. theyre deceptively cute but can mess you up. suit and unknown scream dark type teams. maybe some poison types for unknown. like i think he'd have team rocket/[insert region team] grunt-esque pokemon.
saeyoung and all of the saeran's have at least one pokemon (probably their first/partner) that they found abandoned and in bad shape that they took in and it decided to stay with them after it recovered.
maybe they have an espeon (saeyoung) and an umbreon (saeran) to complement their "we're opposites but in a balanced and complimentary way" vibe.
and also bc i must inflict this on all my faves who are convinced they're bad and unlovable: at least one pokemon on their team evolves with high friendship/affection. even better if for some reason he doesn't know what causes that pokemon to evolve and he maybe cries a little when he finds out. what do you mean he's LOVED??
ANYWAY sorry for the really long ramble haha. this was supposed to be a short ask but it kinda got away from me 😅 anyway, i hope you have a good day!! i love your writing and character analyses!!
Oh, you've come to the right person today, because I spend my time stressing out over what Pokemon I would use on their teams if I ever wrote a story for it. I've done this a few times before but I can never really make my mind up so I wouldn't say that this is a concrete idea. So, here is a slider I would use for Ray > Suit Saeran > GE Saeran. I think some of it is self-explanatory. I suggest dark, ghost, and grass if anything.
Phantump for a Ray who feels lost and dead to the world. Polteageist for his desire to feel like a prince in his haunted castle. Budew for a boy who can't be fully blossomed just yet... but, he's so close to that chance. Suit Saeran would only use one Pokemon in my mind and it's Banette. A Pokemon that happens to be seeking revenge in the same way he is. It might seem like a major stretch but mega evolution seems incredibly possible in this situation.
Shaymin is the Pokemon of gratitude and I feel like it would appear in the garden when he is in the process of thanking you for being there with him as he finally freed himself from his heavy chains. He and Saeyoung do have a set of Eevee together! I feel like they need to have a matched set, and his Eevee has been tucked away in their pokeball for a while until he realized the error of his ways.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whereas, Saeyoung is always really tough to work with because there's so many different Pokemon that would work for him symbolically. Sure, we can pick some joke options if we want to do so, but I'm trying to imagine what would work for his work in the agency. Did they give him a team or is it a team he's caught himself?
In the end I just decided to give him a team that he crafted. He deserves to have a cat that shoots fireballs from its mouth. Of course, I don't imagine that'll end well for him since the cat likely gives him a free haircut everyday with burnt edges. Rotom is the given. Everybody who's ever drawn him with the Pokemon always gives him Rotom. It's right. Three heads are better than one! Magneton helps to hack and unlock problems!
His Eevee doesn't battle. It's kept safe in his bunker, or it's Pokeball. He hates to make Eevee sad about not seeing its own twin or Saeran. Magearna makes sense to me, because what is more in character for him than to discover this mechanical Pokemon and help bring it back to life? Minior for the stars! It's either that or Clefairy. I couldn't make up my mind but in the end I decided on stars.
Tumblr media
Which brings me to Unknown and SE Saeran. Yeah, SE Saeran will receive that Megearna as a gift from his brother. His Porygon-Z likely was released after Mint Eye was taken down, or it's still in the box for now since that was likely his main partner for being able to hack into the RFA. Mimikyu and Banette are self-explanatory. Budew would be a new addition in his time spent trying to enjoy the clouds and grass! Milcery is a surprise, though! I have a feeling that is a companion he made one afternoon that tried to sample his ice cream and now he's got a friend that helps him craft his own ice cream.

Puts on my tinfoil hat. These are just some miscellaneous thoughts on what I'd like to see happen in HZ023. Seeing that there's sparkles around this week's episode, I'm assuming that something big or significant will happen / be revealed.
Tumblr media
I would love to see Friede and Amethio temporarily calling a truce, or briefly working together while they're trapped with Galarian Moltres. Personally I'd love to see them get affected by that stamina sapping aura (mostly cause I wanna see them both vulnerable on the ground) but generally seeing them having to work together would make me happy.
The kids alerting the rest of the RVT on what happened. I want to see them coming up with something that allowed them to head back inside the mine. I imagine the kids found a separate entrance, or Friede and Amethio busted their way out.
Friede revealing a third Pokemon. Seeing the recent release of Ceruledge and Armorouge in anime style, it would be fun if it was revealed that he had an Armorouge to be rivals with Amethio's Ceruledge. I'd prefer him to have more type diversity than another Fire-type but it'd be neat to see him have one. The last time they had the sparkles around the date was when they revealed Friede's Charizard to have Tera Dark, a week before the release of the new TCG deck + they gave us a Charizard a gift in game. I think they have the opportunity to release Armorouge as a gift too to tie it together.
Liko finding a way to calm down the Galarian Moltres. Seeing that there was a scene of Sprigatito on Charizard's head in the mines, I think those two would work together to come in close with the Moltres. Sprigatito knows how to utilize its Leafage depending on the situation (reminiscent of Agile and Strong Style from LA). We know that the scent it releases can make those around it relax or outright knocking a Pokemon to sleep. What I'm thinking is that Sprigatito would infuse its Leafage with that scent before firing it towards Moltres in the hopes of calming the Legendary down.
They have another scene with Lucius. Like how it was with Arboliva, the kids catch another glimpse of Lucius through Liko's pendant resonating with Moltres's Ancient Pokeball.
Moltres won't stay captured but it would come to their aid if needed. It'd be pretty fast paced if they already two of the six Heroes with them, even more so when one of them is a Legendary.
Sprigatito learns a new move or the kids' Pokemon evolve into either Floragato or Crocalor. We're 20+ episodes in so it won't be surprising if an evolution happens seeing that Goh's Scorbunny evolved into Raboot only after 13 episodes back in Journeys.
The other Explorers finding out about Amethio's insubordination. That, or Amethio skulks back into the shadows, considering his next move. Some kind of consequence for going against Gibeon's wishes would be interesting to see, or we get glimpses of the other Explorers again.
Getting a glimpse of Diana's look in the preview for HZ024.
Regardless of what happens, I'm just excited to see the end of this arc and see a preview of the next one. Where will they go next after coming across Diana?

While waiting in anticipation for their opponent in the Grand Finals, we have the privilege of asking frontrunner Vermillion (@kantoblood) to commentate on the exciting matches happening in the Losers Bracket!
"Slow day today. Farigarif is out. Surprisingly slow for a new evolution - most people run Trick Room to take advantage of that. A screen, it goes down. Ari's Haxorus has managed one down so far, but switches at the sight of Dachsbun. It seems like Conner's team has a counter for each."
"Gastrodon-Occident is making up more for it with strong Earth Powers. Dachsbun's's been damaged to much to handle another. Two Down." A golf clap. "Lokix comes out, Conner' calls for a First Impression && what might've been the biggest threat is gone. Clodsire tanks Flame after Flame from Charizard, but doesn't seem to have the damage output."
"A solid Recovery, but this doesn't change the fact Charizard is widdling down both Power Points - a tactic for later, perhaps? Gunkshot call at the switch - && Clodsire's taking a noted amount of damage." Water sip. "A switch - Damaged Monster in the back. Ceruledge comes out && dishes damage to Haxorus, but can't hold out. Haxorus is looking pretty banged up now, but it might be worth it. Ari's in the lead with only one Pokemon down to Conner's three."
"Mach Punch's priority takes Haxorus down - && now Pawmot's switched back in. Maybe Conner's realized Pawmot's best used for later? Clodsire's downed by that same Charizard she had so much trouble to earlier. This Chaizard is slinging Flamethrower after Earthquake - but that's put to a stop by another Priority Punch. Pawmot tries its hardest to fell Umbeon, Sylveon, && Ari's own Pawmot, but Conner's one man brigade is put to a stop by a quick Close Combat."
Sip. "Now there's a lot these trainers can learn from this - lessons in pivot-switching && tactic changes, but they still fought their hardest. Ari moves on. Conner, don't let this loss get you down, you fought well."
Congratulations to Ari (@twindragonsprophecy) for advancing to the Losers Semifinals!
