Alright, Ford headcanon time:

Ford struggles with expressions, both his own and other people's.

With other people, the problem is not being able to figure out all the subtle bits, what they mean. "Does this mean they're angry with me or just a little exasperated? Are they even annoyed at all?" Things like that. Generally, he probably tends to lean towards more negative conclusions.

It's especially an issue when it comes to Stan. Stan hides his emotions a lot, so it can be really hard to figure out if his expressions are genuine or not.

It's less of a problem with Mabel. Mabel tends to overexaggerate her expressions, which really helps with figuring out what she's feeling. She also has a tendency to say what's she thinking more often (Though, he isn't sure if she's always done that or if it only started when he came around).

When it comes to himself, he has a hard time making more "obvious" expressions. His are a lot more subtle. He has a really hard time managing more extreme expressions.

The result is that some people think he's emotionless, or just not as emotional as everyone else. After all, he looks emotionless, so that must just be how he is, right?

As I'm sure you can imagine, Ford doesn't like it.

I would say more, but this is long enough as is, so I'll end it there.
