thought id see some deep and thought-provoking discussions about the philosophical and moral questions posed in atsv but all im seeing is a whole bunch of "the whole spider society is evil and fucked up for trying to save the entire fabric of the multiverse even if they have to bear personal grief for it and miles is the only Good One" and man . expected too much from the 'spends 90% time and energy thirsting for scary big vampire guy' fandom huh

I think kell's going to break up with lila

he's done nothing but change to be what she wants while he gets nothing from her in return--they're doing her job, she makes fun of him for the ring and he thinks she threw it away, he wants to be told he's going to be okay through his pain and she just yells at him and leaves him alone, she's molded him into the same kind of fighter she is because she's outwardly acting like there's nothing they can do about his magic anymore, he's begged her to tell him she wants to be around him after swallowing her dismissive attitude for years.

in her head, obviously, she says she loves him and keeps the ring on her at all times, but she's driving him away by pretending like their relationship can just be in her head. I know she's been trained by her childhood to reveal nothing to anyone but she just can't continue living like this if she wants kell to stay in her life. being around rhy and alucard is only going to remind kell of what a healthy relationship can look like.

and if he doesn't leave, he probably should

its vengeance au PAPYRUS time (LINKED POST HAS UTY MERCILESS SPOILERS)

i was originally planning on having more sprite edits n stuff for this but unfortunately i think too many of my thoughts would be too hard for me to sprite, at least not currently, but. since i dont want to be spending months on this:

like i mentioned in the original post, after clovers slaughter of a decent part of the underground, and progress toward breaking the barrier being shot back to square one as a result, the royal guard essentially goes into a panic, putting out a mass recruitment.

much to the relatively-newly-crowned empress, undynes, dismay, this includes papyrus. wouldnt be a good look for her to turn down such an enthusiastic volunteer, especially not when the guard is in desparation.

but shes still biased, and doesnt want to see him hurt, so she manages to position him as a royal watchman instead of a guard. instead of capturing a human, his job is just to keep watch, help anyone who needs help in the forest, and if he manages to spot a human, all he needs to do is report the sighting to the rest of the guard. pretty simple and fitting job for him, and hes still very enthusiastic about it!! plus he gets a neat ranger uniform, so win-win (the design stuck)

once frisk escapes the ruins though, and clover chases after, papyrus notices somethings not right before hes able to send his report. theres TWO whole humans, which would surely make undyne and the guard happy, maybe send him up a couple ranks too, but...

his job is also to HELP people. and clearly, frisk needs help. so in a conflict of interest, papyrus opts to help frisk find safety deeper into the woods, and only reports clover, to try and keep them at bay

realizing way too late the kind of threat they are, and that theyre too far gone for his usual approach of trying to talk them down like he does in undertale. he'll attack clover, but only when they have him and/or his friends cornered and its absolutely necessary. papyrus IS tough, so he can at least stall them, but he also knows his best chance is to find an opening to flee (he still has to protect frisk, after all), and that a prolonged encounter isnt really in his favor

unfortunately, being a watchman, as well as undyne being busy with empress duties, means he doesnt have as much time for his usual Spaghetti Training, so he falls back to rations of dinosaur egg oatmeal (calling them rations makes it sound cooler to him), which he gladly shares with anyone

...he gets a little overexcited though. its fine, this is normal for him, dont worry. also, the oatmeal survives this.

also in case youre wondering about sans: hes....actually pretty much the same, all things considered. hes happy papyrus got into the guard, tags along to his outposts, pulls his usual pranks, that kind of stuff. this isnt a sans au (and i dont really want it to be), so theres like. not a lot of emphasis on him, and theres not really going to be. he'll still like. timestop to drag papyrus and frisk out of danger given that hes there, cuz he does want to help protect them both, but hes not going to go all out on clover, at least not right away, and not without backup or a plan.

(also i say timestop and not teleport just because thats my own interpretation of the grillbys scene, and him having attacks start and end in seemingly random spots during his fight, i dont think its definitively canon or anything, but i still lean more toward timestop than simple teleportation)

WITH undyne busy though, papyrus is assigned a different captain to answer and report to.

someone... ...nyafarious... within the guard.

she will come later though. once i can make a sprite or two, and have more details ironed out. (should probably also start making a masterpost for this au at some point)

tbh ive been meaning to do this on my main blog bc I take these wayyy too seriously lol but ANYWAY heres my top 10 faves (in no particular order) that I can think of (tbh theres prob more i forgot about, or i wanted to keep only 1 per fandom... except tgcf)

1. Feng Xin (tgcf)

do i even need to explain this one? loyal to a fault, just a cute lil puppy, one hell of a sculpted archers back, and he's head over heels in love with Xie Lian (but tbh same) i have a lot of thoughts about him on a daily basis on this blog (and also theres the #fx backstory au tag)

2. Noé Archiviste (the Case Study of Vanitas)

MY BABY

the absolute bestest boy of EVER... with a LOAD of unprocessed trauma (yknow the typical stuff like seeing your childhood bff get decapitated in front of you) and a lot more to come once we find out how he kills his boyfriend best friend, Vanitas...

3. Sejanus Plinth (The Hunger Games: tbosas)

hated reading as a child... HATED it... picked up the og trilogy when i was 12 and i was a goner. The funny thing is i still hated reading for YEARS up until i picked up the prequel novel then in 2020, and now ive read all of tgcf, 2ha, and more fanfic than i could ever imagine... all because this stupid boy (i love him) chose to trust the WORST person as his friend, rip sejanus my baby

aside from being the character that unlocked my unhealthy obsession with :) Main Character Death :) at the ripe ol' age of 8 YEARS (although Will Turner from POTC also helped on that front... Orlando Bloom my beloved) River's story was a stroke of absolute GENIUS from start to finish and i simply love how Alex Kingston played her...

I just love the doomed ones, okay...

9. Satoru Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen)

look... theres *gojo girlies* uwu and then theres GOJO GIRLIES... i couldn't give 2 shits about how he's fan-serviced (tho im not complaining) but have you SEEN the amount of grief pumped into that man? he could explode in a fit of fucking insanity at literally any moment and take the whole goddamn world down with him bc what happened with suguru WASNT FAIR to him and satoru has more than enough power to go apeshit... but he DOESN'T... even after losing so many of his co-sorcerers... he still puts on a brave face to the end in order to protect the childhood of his students even tho his own youth was stolen from him during hidden inventory...

SEE? The DOOMED ones!

10. Levi Ackerman (Attack on Titan)

i read the manga during my last year of uni and when i tell you i SOBBED at the end... yes ofc for obvious reasons, but mostly bc my little Levi loses EVERYTHING. He is the SOLE survivor of the veteran scouts. He's missing multiple fingers, an eye, and the ability to walk. He was the strongest (yowaimo) but wasn't even granted the mercy to die at the end of his narrative! Broke my fucking heart.

!!! This fic is what got me into Fyozai. Like!!! The Tension!!!! They keep referencing each other as 'Rat' and 'Cat' and honestly!!! *Chef's Kiss* Also usual Fyozai talk about demons, gods, philosophy, etc. There's a telepathy thing going on (courtesy of being geniuses and their habit of reading each other) that I absolutely adore. I love the writing style, and in this particular fic it emphasizes the way they're similar to each other. Which I really love. Anyway!! My favorite Quote:

That horrible twisted mind equal to your own.

The pride at seeing how you could have turned out had you not listened to Odasaku’s last parting words, it makes you feel better about yourself.

Fyodor is exasperatedly fond of Dazai and it's so endearing to read. Relationship Reveal! Cause the ADA is there when they met- which is expected since Fyodor went to the Cafe Uzumaki. Russian Pet Names!!! I could rave about it more but no spoilers so!! Favorite Quote:

“We were nineteen,” Dazai sighs, dreamy, melting against Fyodor’s side, disgustingly saccharine in a way Fyodor can only pretend not to enjoy, “straight out of high school.”

4. Even through the Mist. by DeadDrabble (MisakillDatMonkey)

Summary: Dazai's mind has been strangely foggy lately. Are these limbos truth and reality or is he lost in a nightmare? Fyodor's cello sounds like the sweetest melody...

Or when Fyodor manipulates Dazai into taking his side to retrieve the book, using grief and ghosts of his past. Dazai's only hope resides in his will to follow the right path and his old partner.

This had me on the edge of my seat!!! Like holy moley!! Dazai doesn't know what's real and what's not and it's conveyed beautifully. Actually, Fyozai is not the main pairing, but most of this fic is about them. The manipulations!!! The mind games!!!

“See? You’re surprisingly docile,” the demon acknowledges, delighted. Dazai tugs on his hair a bit roughly. He looks back at the man through half-lidded eyes. He feels so bad, it feels so wrong, but he’s confident… He placed his trust in the right person, and it’s okay if he’s weak along the way. He can rely on those people. Even when he slips up.

5. I Offer A Prayer (To An Iceless Home) by Poetiicdissonance

u know that headcanon where Dazai hid in Russia with Fyodor between leaving the mafia and joining ADA? This is it. This is that fic. They're roommates! They talk about things. Deep things. About their Philosophies, ideas in life that they hold with an iron fist. They poked and prodded each other. It's a quiet companionship- and until now I don't know if it's the eye of the storm, or the gentle waves of a deep sea. This is so very. Very dear to me. I hold this fic gently in my heart. I cried, I laughed, I fell in love with them. Also no favorite quote since everything about it is my favorite.

So! I have decided to combine these two things

Now, some backstory:

(Spoiler warnings for Xtale)

Backstory~

I was coming back from holiday in Port U Gal (it was nice, other than the fact i burned to death a lot) and decided HEY! I DOWNLOADED THE LAST EPISODE OF XTALE TO WATCH ON THE PLANE! I SHOULD DO THAT!

Before this, I had slowly been dragging myself through xtale (adhd means i needed to spread it out). I liked it, other than the fact I had no idea what was going on 30% of the time. Anyway.

So I watched Xtale episode the last, and suddenly Sans was relevant despite only having about two speaking roles beforehand. And suddenly he and CharaFrisk were claiming to be besties. And suddenly FriskChara tried to make him kill them bc... it would force XGaster into reseting, weakening him (i think).

All of a sudden everyone's memories were back and they were about to kick XGaster's ass. WONDERFUL, thought me. THIS CUNT'S HAD IT COMING FOR TEN EPISODES. But then GUESS WHO SUDDENLY DEVELOPS MARY SUE SUPERPOWERS AND DESTROYS THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE, BECAUSE... I genuinely do not know.

Did he feel CharaFrisk betrayed him by overwriting him? Maybe, but I think their actions were justified. They didn't see any other way out and they genuinely thought sans would be willing to help bc theyre besties for some reason.

Did he feel for Gaster bc he raised him? Valid enough, but if that's the case why did Papyrus (who was also raised by XGaster), Mr Spare a Genocidal Maniac, join the Gaster torture?

And again, WHY WAS HE THAT OP? There is no explanation for where those powers came from and I think that it is ridiculous he destroyed everyone and everything with full control over his powers, and then had the gall to wail about it. Like dude. No one was forcing you to do that?? Jeez.

And then Ink, who somehow failed to notice the Ten Variations of Hell Gaster created despite multiversal watch being his LITERAL JOB, comes in like. Oh! Hi sans variant in a destroyed universe! You're invited to the main plotline now! ;D

Wow.

Nothing against Ink, but according to the poll runner server, Ink's inaction is kind of a thing that happens a lot in Underverse. Rip.

So! I am starting a Cr♡ss Hate Club™ where we complain about him and make that hater content we've been craving, including shipping him with TECtale Sans (an oc of mine who is kind of the worst) and creating the "Cr□ss Sans is a Jerk" tag on ao3 (if swapfell sans gets one, SO DOES CR%SS)

The hate club will be a discord server, the link to which doesn't even exist yet. This is mostly a post to see if people are interested. If not, and I'm right about everyone's undying love for him then that's okay! I'll delete the post and move on with my life.

If you're interested but fear hate, feel free to dm me. But if anyone dms to yell at me for not liking Cr0ss, you're getting blocked.

i need to ramble abt mcu holly and if she was in atsv. bc yeah, she falls for miguel, but shes not blinded by love!!

the idea of holly finding the spider society and falling for miguel + admiring him for being such a strong leader despite his own tragedies is cute but i want more angst !! that, and i want ppl to know that shes not just a hopeless follower !

atsv spoilers i think - also read tags just in case <3

have holly's world shatter around her as he sees miguel hunt down miles just bc the kid wants to save his family. even if it hurts, make her realize that miguels so painfully in the wrong and have her stand up for miles and oppose the guy she admires most!!

instead of her being like every other spider-person and going 'well MY important person died so yours has to as well!" have her say 'no!! being spider-man hurts but that doesn't mean its deserved or set in stone!!'

holly has lost her family, the person helped her recover from mental illness, the woman who took her under her wing, and has had such complicated relationships that have torn her apart!! she's no stranger to loss, but she knows its not necessary! let kids be happy and understand that yeah, they arent always right, but just bc theyre young doesnt mean theyre always wrong!!

even if she has to sever another relationship with a man she admires and loves, she'll do it for miles ! her young adulthood sucked so shes determined to protect others from that pain!! why enforce such a tragedy if you yourself know just how much it hurts!!

mcu holly is the ultimate older sister and she will tear u apart for the younger spiders!!!!!!

what is musical chairs? these ship names are getting out of control im sorry

No need to apologise, you're right theyre getting out of control. I Cannot resist the urge to ship everything that breathes in this series (at least a little bit of shipping) but it means there are just endless ship names. When I tag something with those it's mostly for my own reference, but I'm always more than happy to tell you more about it if you ask!

Musical chairs is the ship name for Noise and @cum-villain 's OC Sharpe. Spoiler alert for his King's Throne (bard king x Noise in case anyone doesn't know) series, but Sharpe's main motivation for tormenting Noise is that he thinks Noise took the position of First Chair from him. Plus it turns out that the Bard King was originally planning to give the first chair position to Sharpe and "all but promised it to him" but gave it to Noise instead on a whim.

So it's fighting over first chair + switching who's gonna get the chair + music = Musical Chairs

The silliest reasoning for a ship name but I like it

ive seen a million people joke about spamton being the next tumblr sexyman because a lot of people like him but ive never seen anyone actually say hes hot or anything like that you people will call literally any mildly popular character a tumblr sexyman even when theyre not smh
