Coyote Starrk:

- Unlike Shunsui, he will not wake up to your kisses or cuddles. If the man is out, he is out unless you use brute force to wake him up like Lilynette.

- Just because he doesn't wake up doesn't mean he's not gonna react to you though. He recognizes the feeling of your lips and smiles softly.

- Then he wraps his arms around your waist and cuddles into your chest with a content sigh.

Heartstrings

Chapter Nineteen: Beginning of Betrayal

For Mature Audiences

CW: None needed yet. Small fight scenes

“I will destroy Karakura Town to create the Ouken.”

Aizen’s words were a dagger through the heart, but there was no turning back now. Chisei stood with Gin and Kaname, waiting for their leader - and her husband - to start the assault. The woman watched Orihime’s terrified expression, empathetic to her plight, but she couldn’t show it.

“It was nice knowing you.” Chisei said softly, looking up to Aizen when he stepped up beside her. “Fight till the end.”

Orihime gasped at the Queen’s words, watching them all start to depart. She knew Ichigo would come for her, she hoped he would be able to stop Aizen’s plans… Though there was a small glimmer of hope she wasn’t fully expecting. As Chisei turned to walk beside Aizen, holding his arm as she had been conditioned to do, her grip was only single-handed. Her other hand was hidden behind her back, while trying to keep the regal air about her.

Chisei’s fingers were crossed behind her back.

She was prepared to do whatever it took to stop him.

”It seems we made it just in time.” A voice from years past caught the attention of Chisei, she stood on the precipice into what would be Karakura Town… Head Captain Yamamoto, his Lieutenant, Captains she recognized and some she didn’t. Komamura’s lack of helmet surprised her, even if only slightly.

”Just in time?” Aizen questioned, stepping down using Shunpo. Chisei had let him go at that time, letting her arms hang naturally. “Now what would make you say that? “I’m well aware that what lies below us is not Karakura Town. But that means nothing to me. Starrk, Barragan, Halibel… Come.”

Three more gateways open, revealing the top three Espada. Chisei found herself glancing over at where Starrk had entered from, followed by turning her attention back to Aizen. Not now. She knew he protected the back of his neck, and she was far too close to Gin and Kaname to prepare another attack before they reacted.

”We’ll just kill you here and create the Ouken in the Soul Society. That’s all there is to it.” He said, as Gin and Kaname moved to join their leader. At their entrance began to close, Chisei made a small sound before jumping down to stand atop a building.

“Hey, check that out…” Shunsui turned his attention to the woman, “Isn’t that the Quincy girl..?” He watched her, they were careful in their approach. Just because she splintered from the group, didn’t mean she was an easy target. Having her there alone after all those years.

”Ryujjinjakka.” The next thing she knew, a billowing wall of flames came from the Head Captain’s sword and trapped Aizen with the two former captains.

”Shit..!” Chisei took a small step back, keeping an eye on the Espada. None of them seemed injured, at least, though Starrk had more of a reaction than anything. It’s not going to be this easy to separate away from him. Even if so, convincing Starrk and Hallibel is-

“Everyone! Put your entire spirit on the line and crush them here! Even if your flesh is torn from you, use pieces of your bone to form an iron-clad wall! We musn’t let them step even one foot into the Soul Society!” Yamamoto shouted. “Attack!!”

Chisei readied her stance, but somehow she ended up wholly ignored by the mass of Shinigami. Something caught her eye though, a familiar hairstyle…

”Momo…”

”So, you joined Aizen’s ranks?” The Head Captain. He was speaking directly to her, having approached while she was distracted. “Why would you follow him, girl?”

”The same reason that I fought for my freedom before.” Chisei said, not yet pulling her weapon. “He promised my family would be safe.”

”Your family is in Karakura Town, do you really believe he would protect five innocent lives?” The Old Man asked, watching her carefully. “I doubt someone such as yourself would believe something so foolish.”

The brunette sighed and shook her head. “There’s a part of me that wishes to believe after all I’ve given him… I won’t be surprised…” She looked down to her attire, then back to the man. “Head Captain… This stays between us for the time being.”

”Oh? What do you have that could be so important to us?”

“When the time comes… I’ll become a turncoat.” She balled up her fists, staring towards the fire. “I want to help, but I need to wait for the right time. The only one I plan to fight is Sosuke, no one else from his side.”

“I see…”

”At risk of him hearing too much, I’ll tell you this: Sosuke brought me in under the guise that his betrayal wasn’t real. I burned bridges due to that. Once he had me alone, he manipulated me into becoming his Queen.” She felt her breathing become shaky, adding, “I don’t think I need to tell you what the product of a Soul Reaper and pure blooded Quincy creates…”

The Head Captain’s eyes went wide, it seemed too impossible to be true… And yet, she was unmoving. He listened to her carefully.

”One more thing.” Chisei cleared her throat. “For you, Head Captain… He prepared a secret weapon for you. I was only told so much, but if it’s accurate… It’s to seal your sword. Be careful.”

The woman left him with that information, she needed to keep moving to avoid suspicion. Aizen had to have been sensing her and everyone else, and in turn sensing their movements. If she stayed too close to the Head Captain, she was sure she’d be found out. Chisei ran herself down the street, watching the battles surrounding her. While she couldn’t get involved for now, she knew that her best option as to build rapport while checking on the Espada…

”Ohh look at that, long time no see!” The cheery tone threw her off when she landed atop a water tower, equidistant to both the carefree Captain and the first Espada. “What’s a pretty thing like you doing in a place like this?”

”Lady Chisei…” Starrk stopped for a moment to watch her. “You’re not with…?”

”Lady Chisei? Quite the upgrade.. Wait, don’t tell me that means-!”

”Hirenkyaku won’t allow me to do the same. I escaped the blaze.” Chisei said, then turned her attention towards the lazy captain still in his kimono. “… Yes. Back then I guess I caught his eye.”

”Guess so…Something’s off though.” Shunsui said, “Last I recall, you were more for protecting others…”

”Is that right?” She said. “Who’s to say I’m not?”

”Well, you are sort of on the side attacking… Though I’m sure he told you something else.”

”It’s a bit of both, actually.” She checked her bracelet, then looked to Starrk. “I hope to protect those close to me… And also, fighting for myself.”

The man’s breath hitched, how she said that… Starrk didn’t dare question it though, he simply fired a cero at the captain to continue the battle.

”Be careful, Starrk.” Chisei said, again using Hirenkyaku in order to make a quick escape. She swore she heard something from Shunsui about a cheap shot, but she chose to ignore it.

A pillar of fire caught her attention, making her stop on top of one of the buildings. Yamamoto stood there as if nothing happened, but on the ground she found Halibel’s fracciones badly beaten and burned. Chisei knelt down, waiting for the man to step away from the battlefield, before getting herself back down to the street. There was a knowing glance with the Head Captain as she started to help the girls to safety.

”Lady Chisei, why…” Mila Rose spoke up, her eyes barely open. Chisei shushed her.

”You don’t need to say anything. I’m getting you to safety.” She said, using Hirenkyaku in a row to get the Arrancar away from active battles. “You all did well… Thank you for helping Hallibel.”

Apacci and Sun-Sun followed soon after, laid atop a high building from off from where Hallibel was battling Captain Hitsugaya. She checked them for anything life threatening, keeping their pulse in check, before she stood up. “You three, I don’t care if you’re feeling better… Stay here and stay down.” Chisei ordered. “This battle’s going to get a lot more intense, focus on staying alive.”

The Quincy was quick to Hirenkyaku back to the scene where the girls were taken down, as she was looking around for where else to go a large looming shadow caught her off guard. Captain Komamura. She gasped and backed away, trying to figure out what to do… His Bankai was massive, and he couldn’t use it here, not right now… Looking past the imposing dog man, she noticed the injured from their side…

”Shit, Momo-!” She instinctively stepped forward, but stopped at the sudden swing of Komamura’s sword. Chisei jumped and landed atop his shoulder, holding up her hands. “Whoa, whoa! Hold your sword! I’m unarmed!”

Komamura grabbed at her foot, throwing her to the ground as Chisei quickly activated her Blut Vena to avoid damage. She kept her arms up defensively, the glowing azure tendrils snaked across her skin while she glared up at the Captain.

”Would you listen for five seconds!?” She snapped. “I’m not here to attack you!”

”What are you doing here then?? Do you plan to finish off the injured!?” Sajin snarled, pulling her closer by her leg. “Talk, Quincy!”

”Sosuke told me he killed Momo! I was surprised to see her!” Chisei said, “He didn’t give me any orders in this case, so I’ve been helping my own injured get out of harms way!”

”Your own injured?”

”Yes! I don’t care if he won’t see the fallen as anything more than pawns- I’m going to make sure they’re okay!” She sat up, not even trying to free her leg. If she did, it wouldn’t take much for the Captain to snap it in two… “Sosuke might not care about his soldiers, but I care. Call it stupid if you want, but at least I’m not attacking your side… I refuse to.”

There was a long pause, before a blonde man inside the barrier spoke up. Chisei didn’t recognize him, but it was Izuru Kira.

”Captain Komamura… I think she’s telling the truth…”

”I won’t run if you release me, but please let me stand-“ She said, almost joking. “It’s hard enough being taken seriously at my height.”

Sajin stared her down, releasing his grip on her leg before offering to help her to her feet. “Why is someone like you fighting alongside Aizen?” He questioned.

”I promised myself to Aizen in exchange for my family’s safety…” Chisei said, sighing. “He took that a step further and made me his wife. After that, I couldn’t get out if I tried…” She looked to her hands, then leaned them while the Blut Vena released itself slowly. “… I made a mistake. A big one.”

”That’s what I thought… You are the same woman from before.” The Captain stated, “There is one more thing I’d like to ask… Why haven’t you done something about Aizen yourself?”

”Until now? I couldn’t. And I haven’t yet because…” She chewed on her bottom lip. “…I need the opportunity. Away from Ichimaru and Tōsen. And he can’t know about it before.”

Sajin sighed to himself. “It seems you have a plan already… Whatever it is, I hope it aligns with ours…” He gave her a nod. “However, if I catch you on the battlefield like this again… I will be forced to finish you.”

”Understood. Pray we don’t.” Chisei nodded to him, then quickly gave a wave to Izuru before using Hirenkyaku in order to stand on a nearby building.

The flames were still raging surrounding Aizen, and she hoped he hadn’t suspected anything while she ran across the synthetic town. Hallibel was still in her battle with Hitsugaya, and she noticed that Barragan had also used his Resurrection. Coyote had also released in that time, firing ceros at the now two captains he was dealing with.

Chisei took a breath and let down her bun, shaking out her hair. Letting the wind blow it lazily while she pushed it back over her shoulders. At some point she’d have to face him, face everything she had put up with…

”Shinji, where are you…” She whispered, a hand over her heart. Surely he wouldn’t miss this battle…

The sky once again ripped open, catching everyone’s attention. As it opened, a large fleshy lavender colored monster peeked out… As did a small Arrancar with blonde hair, babbling incoherently… Wonderweiss. Aizen brought him in now!? Chisei was left staring in shock while his high pitched screech dampened the flames and revealed the brunette man. Not yet. Please not yet… She hoped to get to just a few more soul reapers before now! The woman began to panic, this wasn’t going to rock, what the hell was she going to do now?? Captains were falling left and right, and now she was left with-

“Hold it.”

No… No it couldn’t be.

Jk, that dude was annoying. I'll start off with saying that I don't remember the Sternritter well (in fact I don't remember half of them) but I do remember:

Renji → bi, also? I would love to write a trans!Renji fic one day. It needs to exist (I'm sure there are good trans!Renji fic out there already) but I want to write one.

Rukia → bi/lesbian. When I first started watching Bleach I was a huge aro!Rukia person, too; whether this was because I liked her as a character and saw myself in her or she just has a Vibe, this was something I liked to headcanon.

Bonus Arrancar:

Ulquiorra → I don't think Arrancar see gender and sexuality in the rigid ways humans do so the concept of gender is more fluid/non-binary with them. Also he's so gay, that's a gay little bat.
