Northern Migration- Chapter 30 (Notes)
Yikes, it’s been a while. I’m not sure I have any excuses beyond that I am a fully realized creation with a multitude of real life responsibilities I am absolutely drowning in. But, hey! This chapter is here and it’s out. Yay for that.
Like always, these notes will contain spoilers, so be sure to read the actual chapter before hitting this guy up. Without any further ado—
I kinda have a niche for interpersonal drama, and this chapter’s usage of Julia and Taako is very illustrative of the reasons why. Julia’s flaws show more intensely when you see them directed at a particular person. I’ve always believed that people by themselves will be generally decent; it’s only when they’re put up against something or someone they don’t like will actual flaws present themselves. Similarly, Taako’s starting to realize that he doesn’t like having so much bitterness towards Julia when he can see himself in her. I just really like character conflict, okay?
I’ve always avoided using DND jargon in dialogue and such because I’ve always felt like it takes me out of the narrative too much. What little jargon I do use, like “spell slots,” I typically mean to be a part of the in-universe slang or terminology for magic users. So, for example, spell slots is an imprecise measuring system magic-users use to not only calculate how much energy a spell will use, but how much energy they have left to use at a certain time.
The scene on the Starblaster was written in two parts: the first back in April, starting from Magnus going to Davenport and ending at the same point it does in the chapter. The second part, the first half wherein Magnus and Stevie are whittling wood, was added within this past week. What happened? I realized belatedly that if I wanted to have Angus disguise himself as Merle, I needed to pre-establish his magic use. Not only that, but I knew that I needed to plant some seeds that would pay off in the next chapter. I can see where the scene splits off, and to me it’s really obvious, but I hope that’s only because I know how it originally looked.
That being said, the original reason Magnus went to Davenport wasn’t for reassurance, but because Lucretia left without getting winter clothes for Angus and Magnus wanted to see if anything Davenport owned would fit him.
Should I have written out that scene where Taako reveals the prophecy he got years ago? Yeah, but we literally just got through a bunch of chapters where people learned a prophecy and were amazed by it. I’m not going to write the same scene again for the, like, fifth time.
I like Sloane. I like her understated friendship with Johann and the fact that she’s kinda the underdog. What a legend.
This fic should be a musical. I feel like I’m writing a song every other chapter. The Crystal Kingdom verse featured here should fit the tune of the original song. I borrowed some of the rhymes from part 3, but honestly, who cares?
Here are some rejected lyrics for the second to last line: “Imprisoned by all my misdeeds” / “My own destruction I foresee” / “A lost legacy I foresee”
Lucretia backstory! It’s hard to believe that I’m 30 chapters in and there’s still light sprinklings of backstory I need to write about. I mean, I still have to cover the formation of the pseudo-BOB and the flashback chapters to how the Starblaster mission came about, but that’s different.
I like the idea that Kravitz’s corporeal form does weird things when you try to mess with it. I also like the idea that Kravitz can shapeshift.
I know people wanted a bigger splash for Johann and, so far, I kinda under-played his presence, but I do have plans for him. Granted, he’s still the Greatest Bard Ever and can kick everyone’s butts. So he’s done something. But if you’re a Johann fan and are upset that he hasn’t done more, have no fear. He will have his time to shine.
Taako and Ren reunion! They actually never had their reunion back in Wonderland (which happened a long time ago holy crap), so it’s finally happening. And again, I am team Taako Really Does Care For Ren, so take your bully!Taako headcanons and get out of here.
Lup
Lup, Lup, Lup.
Where do we start?
I wrote that scene months ago, and I remember not being too happy with it the first time around. Now that I’m looking at it again, I actually really like it. I so this pseudo-stream of consciousness style whenever I try to get into someone’s head during a moment of realization, and I like the way it works here. It really does help what his physically just Taako just staring at an umbrella feel as grand as it should be.
But there’s a particular manipulation of Taako and Lup’s famous “always an outcast, but never alone” that I’m doing that is not only incredibly on brand for me (I do love the manipulation of canon), but also demonstrative of how Taako’s character development is different here than in the show and (to be honest) fanon. I don’t like the narrative that Lup is so important to Taako that her absence destroyed him. I don’t like the idea that restoring his memory of her is what helps him recover. The show itself doesn’t do that to a serious degree, but I see a lot of fics play up that angle for angst. So my intention is to do what the show did, which is letting Taako learn how to love but doing it times 10.
I’m not sure how else to articulate this, and at this rate, I’m going to have to come back with a clarification to really convey my thoughts on this. Because Taako’s development is that he learns that he is loved no matter what, and that’s his happy ending.  But here, his development is centered on this idea that he is an extremely emotional person who does not want to be emotional. And he does this by slipping into denial. So to have Taako make a connection with Ren is demonstrative that he’s learning to accept that he cares about people. Putting him back on the Starblaster where there is still a lot of bitterness causes him to double down on denying how much he loves the people he’s upset with. And he needs to learn if he wants to be loved in return.
I don’t know how else to put it.
And that’s it! Unfortunately, there isn’t going to be a preview for the next chapter since literally every scene involves a reveal. I will tell you that we’re definitely in the latter half of the fic. There’s no definitive outline, but every time I do a count in my head, I can only see around 20 more chapters, which would put us a little over the halfway point. So while we still have this, an interlude, and another relic arc before the finale: the end is nonetheless finally within sight!
And Barry is still kidnapped.
Fuck.

any quotes about just like… horror
Ted Hughes, from Gaudete and From Crow's Account of St George
"His wedding gift, clasped round my throat. A choker of rubies, two inches wide, like an extraordinarily precious slit throat."
— Angela Carter, The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories; from ‘The Bloody Chamber’
"I'll have your heart, if not by gift my knife / Shall carve it out. I'll have your heart, your life."
— Stevie Smith, from ‘Tender Only to One’
"What awaited me / in the land of the living? / His hand creeping starved / between my thighs? / The sweet stench of rot / choking itself in my hair?"
— Emily Palermo, from 'Eurydice'
"The walls of her bedroom are hung with black satin, embroidered with tears of pearl. At the room’s four corners are funerary urns and bowls which emit slumbrous, pungent fumes of incense. In the centre is an elaborate catafalque, in ebony, surrounded by long candles in enormous silver candlesticks. In a white lace négligé stained a little with blood, the Countess climbs up on her catafalque at dawn each morning and lies down in an open coffin."
— Angela Carter, The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories; from ‘The Lady of the House of Love’
"Now I could raise / Her dead, dark body to my own / And hear the joyous rustle of her bone / And in her eyes see deathly blaze;
Now could I wake / To passion after death, and taste / The rapture of her hating, tear the waste / Of body. Break, her dead, dark body, break."
— Dylan Thomas, The Notebook Poems 1930–34: Poems from the story, ‘The Fight’
"I stood and watched your wretched Dance of Death / And vomited my heart out through my teeth"
— Charles Baudelaire, Flowers of Evil; from 'A Voyage to Cythera'
"Why do the lilies goggle their tongues at me / When I pluck them; / And writhe, and twist, / And strangle themselves against my fingers, / So that I can hardly weave the garland / For your hair / Why do they shriek your name / And spit at me / When I would / cluster them? / Must I kill them / To make them lie still, / And send you a wreath of lolling corpses / To turn putrid and soft / On your forehead / While you dance?"
— Amy Lowell, 'Grotesque'
"At midnight, especially on Walpurgisnacht, the Devil holds picnics in the graveyards and invites the witches; then they dig up fresh corpses, and eat them. Anyone will tell you that."
— Angela Carter, The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories; from ‘The Werewolf’
"Here’s honest rot / To unpick the heart, pare bone / Free of the fictive vein."
— Sylvia Plath, Collected Poems; from ‘November Graveyard’
"…but from that day on the smell of death became stronger, till it filled the room, tainting the water in her jug, bleeding into the sheets. I brought fresh flowers every morning: all the petals had fallen by the middle of the afternoon."
— John Burnside, from 'The Dumb House'
"There's a drop of blood in my soup / it's the blood of You."
— Alice Notley, Disobedience; 'You'
"And this skull was strung up by a system of unseen cords, so that it appeared to hang, disembodied, in the still, heavy air, and it had been crowned with a wreath of white roses, and a veil of lace, the final image of his bride."
— Angela Carter, The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories; ‘The Bloody Chamber’
"His promises were the surgeon’s gag / Her promises took the top off his skull / She would get a brooch made of it / His vows pulled out all her sinews / He showed her how to make a love-knot / Her vows put his eyes in formalin / At the back of her secret drawer / Their screams stuck in the wall / Their heads fell apart into sleep like the two halves / Of a lopped melon, but love is hard to stop / In their entwined sleep they exchanged arms and legs / In their dreams their brains took each other hostage / In the morning they wore each other’s face"
— Ted Hughes, Crow; from ‘Lovesong’
"A vision came to her of an ancient goddess lying stretched out in the underworld, prey of death. Her flesh was putrid and swarming with maggots, her decaying form covered with all manner of festering sores that smoldered and gave off black sparks. The luridness of the sight sent the goddess’s lover fleeing in horror, and the moment that he turned and ran, she arose and swept after him in fury, all the love she had borne him transformed utterly into blinding hatred."
— Fumiko Enchi from 'Masks', tr. Juliet Winters Carpenter
"In the gloom of the old asylum human ruins decay. / The dead orphans lie by the garden wall. / From grey rooms step angels with shit-spattered wings. / Worms drip from their yellowed lids."
— Georg Trakl, Surrender to Night: Collected Poems of Georg Trakl: Poems; from 'Psalm', tr. Will Stone
"What do they do with kidneys and toes / in hospitals? And where did your old dog go / who peed on the rug and growled? / They are at my house now, and what grinds / in your wife’s teeth while she sleeps / is mine. She is chewing / on embryos, on the eyes of your lover, / on your phone book and the empty glass / you left in the kitchen. And in your body, / the one who died there and rots / secretly in the fingers of your spirit, / she is hauling his genitals out, basket / after basket / and mangling all of it in the crusher."
— C. K. Williams, Lies; from 'Trash'
"Her head lolled to one side. Her skin was pale and ravaged with rot, her mouth open, her blank eyes upturned toward the sky. A centipede, glistening and black in the rain, slipped across her cheek and wormed its way into her nostril."
— Dale Bailey, from 'In the Night Wood'
"Hand in hand they skulked, stumbled, ran from door to door, from trashcan to trashcan, from waste heap to waste heap, later returning to their mother’s corpse, to slap their thighs with laughter, to yowl out dirges, to cry, to dance in a strangely disjointed manner, pausing once in a while to kneel down by the corpse, then staring off into space. [...] The children could see clearly how the corpse had begun bleeding from its eyes, nose, and ears. They pointed at it with their spindly fingers, giggled, and chanted their song more ghoulishly and boisterously than ever. [...] The children were nailed inside the apartment with the corpse in question. As their tomb was quite generously proportioned, with numerous burial chambers, it didn’t occur to the children at first that they’d been buried alive. With time, though, the madness of hunger began to ravage the children’s brains; they began to circle the corpse; the madness of hunger tore their jaws open wide. For long days their hunger encouraged them, before they finally wedged their spindly fingers into their mother’s rotting flesh and gnawed down to her bones."
— Marianne Fritz, from 'The Weight of Things', tr. Adrian Nathan West
"The figure was tall and gaunt, and shrouded from head to foot in the habiliments of the grave. The mask which concealed the visage was made so nearly to resemble the countenance of a stiffened corpse that the closest scrutiny must have had difficulty in detecting the cheat. And yet all this might have been endured, if not approved, by the mad revellers around. But the mummer had gone so far as to assume the type of the Red Death. His vesture was dabbled in blood— and his broad brow, with all the features of the face, was besprinkled with the scarlet horror."
— Edgar Allan Poe, The Penguin Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe; from ‘The Masque of the Red Death’

The future of Resident Evil and Valenfield (of course)
So It’s me again and I’m here to talk a little about what I think it’s going to happen with this series and my main ship - “Valenfield all the way, always”
First let’s talk about this game here...
Resident Evil 3 Remake
Tumblr media
First of all, I’m really happy to see Jill again, the last time we got a chance to play using her was in Revelations 1 and that game was released in 2012 - that time she also got a different character model
What I liked about the game was the nostalgia, if we look at the graphics and gameplay it's the same engine so it hasn't changed much (not that this is bad). In this game we have the fact that Nemesis proves himself to be the most feared BOW so far in the franchise, all the persecutions and all the determination to eliminate JV, his ability to evolve and continue only with the goal of killing someone shows what Umbrella wants, to create life that is capable of changing the course of a war...But Umbrella made a stupid decision to make this creature go after Alpha’s team finest. (Spencer was trying to become a god - that’s why he used Umbrella)
Capcom had informed us that their idea was to launch RE2 and RE3 together, that is, the game model was almost ready that’s why it didnt take long to release RE3, if you played both you would not complain that the main campaign is short but playing only RE3 it feels like it is very short... Indeed that is, If you analyze the city map it is small and does not give you any freedom to explore, same thing with the other maps and this is very sad, especially for a fan who wants to explore every corner of RC.
ABOUT VALENFIELD
I had said in a post before that there would be a good number of people shipping Jill with Carlos (I was prepared for that), but what I didn’t expect is that she wouldn’t mention Chris in the game, we didn’t even get a chance to go into RPD as Jill to read the letter he had left.
Tumblr media
BUT THERE IS MORE
Tumblr media
WTF, SHE DIDN’T SAY A WORD about Chris probably dying, one thing that I miss a lot from old versions of RE games, is that we see what they are thinking about the object when they interact with it - when he actually moves to Europe he leaves a letter saying he’s okay so Claire wouldnt be worried (HE’S THE BEST BROTHER - dafuq)
BUT THERE IS MORE - HOW DO I UNLOCK HER DIARY ???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanted to see how Capcom would adapt this, but they didnt put this file in the game - Not that we know of (because her diary is a secret file in the original game)
AND FINALLY SOMETHING GOOD
Tumblr media
In the old version of the game we had this epilogue, but I didn't think they were going to put it that way, because it was going to be kind of weird, so what they did was show Chris (Chris is highly associated with the color green) with the vaccine - that means - She found him in Europe / She is probably in the same apartment as him, because who the hell would rent a place if there is a possibility of sharing the rent
Tumblr media
Since I’m really mad about the lack of Valenfield content let’s talk about the future of Resident evil games.
REMAKES or new stories ? Why not both ?
Tumblr media
An insider at Capcom said that RE8 has been rebooted, this would mean that the game would be far from release but the beta testers of RE Revelations 3 had great reviews, so REV3 became Resident Evil 8.
But that doesnt mean that we wont get more Reworks in the meanwhile and there is two games that comes in my mind right now.
Resident Evil : Code Veronica
Tumblr media
Whoever played this game knows how good it is, the protagonists are nothing less than the Redfield brothers and Stevie Burnside unraveling the mysteries of the Ashford family, and this game can easily be remade, because it has so much information about Resident Evil universe, about Wesker and Umbrella, let’s not forget about the horror, this is a survival horror game for sure, the files that we see in the camp are scary af.
Since RE has been getting a lot of new fans this would be appreciated by the new one and the old ones. Claire’s character model already showed a lot of interest to play her again in code Veronica - and to see a young Chris Redfield again it would be so cool.
But there is another option, that in my opnion wouldn’t even be considered a Remake, because i’m not talking about an actually a game.
I’m talking about RESIDENT EVIL:Umbrella Chronicles
Tumblr media
Don't let the WII logo fool you Resident Evil Revelations was a Nintendo DS exclusive, when it became multiplatform it was very welcome and had great reviews, being the first of the most recent games to bring Survival horror back
Umbrella Chronicles is one of the most important in the history of Resident Evil because it’s the only one that shows how Chris and Jill set the end of Umbrella (this sound familiar, right ? ) that’s because you saw this in the ending
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it should be after Code Veronica to follow chronological order
This game is really short, and it shows so many stuff about RE 0 and RE1, so if they decided to make a “Remake” version of Umbrella’s fall it would be so nice because they wouldnt be actually tied to the original game - (Like RE2 and RE3) - they could use the same history but have creativity freedom to do more things, more maps, more enemies, more dialogue PLEASE and keep the “No Ladies first this time?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this is it, thanks for reading (english is not my main language), let’s enjoy and play a lot of RE during these hard time (COVID-19)
If you have something to say about RE future or Valenfield I would like to read your opinion.
Thanks and see you later !

Episode 5 Review
Chicago Med: Change Is a Tough Pill to Swallow
Seeing Dylan with his dad got me excited for the moments we'd get with his family in the future. I love character backstories so much!
Will and Stevie's friendship is amazing, and it's giving me flashbacks to how Will always bickered with Connor.
This VasCom storyline is getting really interesting, and I'm excited to see where it goes.
Okay, I get that it was Dr. Blake's daughter that was hurt, but she really needed to step away and let Crockett do his thing.
Archer is getting on my nerves every single episode, especially this one when he wouldn't consider Crockett's opinions.
Dylan + Children = Adorableness!
Dr. Charles is really growing on me this season, and I love that he's re-diagnosing and helping all of these kids.
Crockett please stop allowing the flirting between you and Blake's daughter to continue.
All right, Will and Stevie really would be a cute couple, but I hope they wait a bit before they get that going.
Vanessa, girl, please just go to sleep. Do not turn to pills!
Chicago Fire: Two Hundred
I could tell that Sylvie was gonna choose to stay in Chicago based on her face at the beginning.
Gallo telling Matt that if he needed anything, he'd be there. They really are the best father-son duo on the show.
I do not like this beer rep woman, whatever her name is. All she does is flirt with Gallo, and that's not okay.
Not that guy trying to make Herrmann give his son, who is underage, alcohol for his birthday party. That's not okay.
I really want Sylvie's paramedic program to take off. I can tell she's excited about it, and because of that I'm excited for her.
That church fire was sus as hell. But that Casey-Severide duo was what we all needed.
When Kelly realized that was probably gonna be his last call with Matt, my eyes teared up a bit.
Boden's gonna be back at 51!
There was a wasted opportunity with Joe and Chloe's baby's name. It should have been Brian Kelly Cruz.
Trudy coming in and saving Herrmann from serving alcohol from minors made me laugh so hard.
I was pissed when Gallo was the only one really shown on the magazine cover when Violet and Ritter are also a big part in the company.
I never actually thought that Matt was gonna leave. I thought that all of the foreshadowing was just to keep the suspense. But knowing that the actor was the one that wanted the break makes me not as sad.
Chicago PD: Burnside
Kevin and Adam will forever be one of the greatest friendships in the One Chicago universe.
I was so hyped when I heard Kevin was gonna get a love interest, but this is not what I wanted.
When Kevin pointed out Voight's face, I nearly died in laughter because he just waved it off.
And when Jay arrived on the scene and chose to act like nothing had happened between him and Voight, I knew the tensions were high.
Hailey and Jay are facing some trouble, and I am not hear for it.
I love how invested Kevin gets in these cases. It's one of the reasons I love him so much.
I'm glad the Adam-Kim partnership is making it's way back because I enjoy seeing the two of them together.
I was shocked that the boy was shot when he was in the back seat of the police cruiser, and I knew Kevin was gonna take it hard. But at least they caught the guy behind everything.
I was falling out of my seat when Kevin proved how stupid some criminals can be.
You don't understand how many times I screamed at the TV and begged Kevin to tell Celeste that he was a cop. Cause you already know that's gonna come out sooner or later and their relationship is gonna fall apart.

Here is a portrait mid shot and a close up shot from my test shoot with Donal O’Connor. I decided the mid shot didn’t have enough environmental value to it and I also thought the facial expression was too intense. I thought the close up had a good amount of environment but too much glint on the eye and preferred the fiddle to be a prop. I eventually settled with a mid shot with good facial expression but without direct eye contact.
Donal O’Connor, 41, from County Louth, is a musician, producer and television presenter and member of both traditional Irish music groups Ulaid and At First Light. Donal co-owns the Belfast based studio RedBox Recording where he has produced a multitude of albums and singles for the likes of Barry Kerr, Grainne Holland, John McSherry, The Olllam, Stevie Dunne, Joshua Burnside, Arty McGlynn amongst many others.

Summary: Fate pulls a string: Magnus doesn't put on his shoes and Lucretia doesn't wipe everyone's memories. All knowledge of the Grand Relics is erased, ending the war they had released onto this world, but the Seven Birds still have each other. Finally, they are free to stop running, start living, and move on with their lives.
Then the Hunger finds them.
Now they have one year to come back together, reclaim their relics, and stop the apocalypse once and for all. But time has changed everything, and they're not the only ones seeking to claim the Grand Relics as their own. But after twelve years of hiding from the living storm, are the Seven Birds still meant to be the heroes of the multiverse or is there a new story in flight?
After so much complaining, it’s finally here! Even though I’m a week late, I want to take the opportunity now to thank everyone who’s been here for this fic for the past year. Writing this story has helped me to recover from a rough period of my life, and that’s because of the massive amounts of support you guys have shown me and this story I started on a whim.
To quote the parting message in this chapter’s notes: “I don't think I could've made it this far into the plot in such little time without you. I hope we can have another year together, one where stories continue to inspire change in ourselves and the world in which we live in. Goodness knows, I can't wait to see it. Thank you. Xoxoxoxo”

Tagged by @garden-of-succulents (thanks!) Tagging: @dinosaurswearingdior @audiaphilios @annundriel @tiptoe39 @gettzi and anyone else who wants to! Relationship Status: single. I have mixed feelings about this. Dating is so much fucking work, but I might be starting to feel lonely enough to brave it. Favorite Color: natural color out in the world? The green of Minnesota in May (if you live here you know what I'm talking about). The color I'm most likely to buy something in? Probably purple, maybe blue. Lipstick or Chapstick: chapstick if I have to, but mostly I just try to stay hydrated. (I've never really worn make up unless someone else put it on me for some reason) Last song I listened to: Sound the Bells by Dessa Last Movie I watched: Wonder Woman (and it did not disappoint) Top 3/(as many as you want) characters: Sophie Hatter/Pendragon (tough but empathetic when it counts, polite and loyal, hard working, willing to just bluster her way through until things start making sense and working out) Ender Wiggin (smart but ultimately driven by his sweet heart, feels and thinks deeply, loves his sister with all his heart) Taako Taaco (taakos life is dope and he does dope shit, such a little weasel, hilarious, loves his sister dearly), Magnus Burnsides (always so supportive of people he cares about, loves very deeply, wants to protect everyone, gentle giants are my jam) CJ Cregg (tough, smart, empathetic, gets shit done, speaks truth to power, steps up when she needs to even though she's scared and overwhelmed, kicks ass even when she's in over her head, laughs uncontrollably at the name Marion Coatsworth Hay) Pretty much all of SMH but especially Holster (large boy with large emotions (see comment about gentle giants), head over heels for his best friend, takes care of frog!bitty, reminds me of my favorite cousin, good skull shape (that's not a euphemism, I just really like the shape of his head)) Tiffany Aching (no nonsense, gets shit done, not afraid to ask for help when she needs it) Kelly and Stevie from Aces Rookies in love by @zimmermaenner (who Tumblr won't let me tag!) (they're just so adorable together and so real. Kelly is such a sweet baby but also thoughtful in the ways that count, Stevie is so quiet but also thoughtful and loving) So many more but I'll stop here. (I just really love characters y'all) Top 3 ships: holsom, Kent Parson/happiness, pynch (but to be honest I'll ship just about anything that moves, and even things that don't move sometimes) Books/Manga: Howls Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones, Life of Pi by Yann Martel, The Raven Cycle by Maggie Steifvater (but especially The Raven King), Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black, Stardust by Neil Gaiman, Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen, a million more but that will do for now. Top 5 Musicals: Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog and Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas are the only musicals I can really tolerate. (Sorry y'all!)

Bernard Allison
Vorverkauf: CHF 45.00 Abendkasse: CHF 50.00
Ich spielte ‚You Don’t Love Me No More’ und ‚Sweet Home Chicago’.“
