Construction of the first IND subway line along Central Park West at 74th Street, May 19, 1926. The Mack truck down in the pit is about to haul out excavated debris—a huge wooden ramp was constructed for that purpose. Gas and water lines on the right had to be relocated during construction. In the distance on the left, just before the cluster of trees, is the NY Historical Society.

"A CIVIC STEAM SHOVEL'S BIG BITE," Toronto Star. June 10, 1912. Page 2.
---
If the big ten-storey Lumsden Building on Yonge street were extended upwards ten storeys more, the giant structure thus formed would be equal in size to the amount of earth which is being dug out of Carlaw avenue by this steam shovel. It is a huge "bite" which has to be taken about 50,000 cubic yards. As shown by the picture, the shovel is served by a civic "dinky" engine and cars. The outfit was moved to Carlaw avenue from Gerrard street the other day, and will chew its way through to Danforth avenue.. Its work on Carlaw avenue is made necessary by the construction of a subway there. The earth taken out by the shovel is being used to level up the streets of the district, notably Gerrard street. Morley avenue, Rhodes avenue and Danforth avenue. As the shovel is working in heavy blue clay, the bite to be taken is hard as well as large. It will take about three months to complete the job.

Large Diameter Self-drilling Rock Anchor Used in Subway Support
Due to the limitation of the section form, surrounding environment and geological conditions of urban subway stations, the enclosure structure generally adopts the form of bolt support. At present, with the continuous increase of the excavation depth of the subway open cut station, the surrounding construction environment is becoming more and more complex, and the length and diameter of the rock bolt are also increasing and increasing.
Under the action of the maximum horizontal stress, the surrounding rock will appear interlayer dislocation, resulting in the deformation of the foundation pit. The role of the bolt is to restrain the shear dislocation of the rock stratum along the axial direction, so the main advantages of using the pile-anchor support type in this open-cut foundation pit are as follows:
The large-diameter self-drilling rock anchor bolt has good supporting effect, simple construction, and is conducive to mechanized operation, and the construction speed is fast.
The large diameter bolt has the advantages of high strength, high rigidity and high shear resistance in force.
The large-diameter self-drilling rock anchor bolt support works together with the surrounding rock to change the mechanical state of the surrounding rock to achieve a more stable foundation pit wall.
The large-diameter self-drilling rock anchor bolt support provides a large space for the construction of the internal structure of the foundation pit, avoids the safety risks caused by the replacement of the support, and effectively ensures the stability of the foundation pit during the construction process.
The successful application of the large-diameter rock anchor bolt in the subway open-cut foundation pit provides a safe and reliable space for the foundation pit excavation and structural construction and avoids the necessary switching support operation using inner braces. Under the premise of effectively saving the project cost, the construction risk is reduced, and the project construction period is ensured.
The bolt sizes produced by Sinorock include regular sizes R25, R32, R38, R51, R63, T30, T40, T52, and large diameter self-drilling rock anchor bolts T73, T76, T103, T111, T127, T130, T150 and T200, etc. At the same time, Sinorock can also provide customized products according to the specific requirements of customers. It finally happened. I had a Submas dream last night.
It was, naturally, an AU and I took such a shine to the idea that I’ve been hashing it out with the discord like uuuuuhhhh, all day pretty much. The base idea for the AU revolves around the idea of ‘Constructs’, or human-like puppets created to complete tasks. The original method of creating Constructs was gifted to humanity by Arceus long, long ago, in the time of the Celestic People, but these days, only a few people know how to create Constructs...
...and one of those is the family of the original Twins.
Emmet, sole Subway Boss of Gear Station, has realized his workload is not healthy and does not pass safety checks! But he loves Gear Station, and does not want to switch jobs for anything... if only there was another Subway Boss. But wait! He can simply create one! He digs up his family’s old research notes on creating Constructs, and months later, he’s created a Construct to help him out on the Battle Subway. He names them Ingo and creates them as a mirror image of himself, because twin bosses would be a fun gimmick for the Subway!
(he’s definitely not just a little lonely. nope!)
But the thing about Constructs is... with enough love, they can eventually gain consciousness. Ingo gradually develops his own consciousness, and he and Emmet eventually become real brothers in everything but blood. It’s not public knowledge that he’s a Construct, with only Elesa and Drayden knowing the truth... and Emmet’s direct superiors. This will come bite him in the ass later when Ingo vanishes, and Emmet’s superiors instruct him to simply build a replacement. It’s just a Construct, right? They’re replacable.
(They’re not, of course. He could build a new ‘Ingo’, but it wouldn’t be Ingo.)
Meanwhile in Hisui, a rogue Construct is plotting to overthrow god, and Arceus counters this by creating a Construct of their own and releasing her into Hisui. Because Arceus loves all their children, this new Construct has a consciousness right away, and sets to the task of her creator. Arceus gives her a name. She’s called Akari.

But at the same time, there's a whole event where the submas bois set out to make trains a thing in Pasio and they like, clear out tunnels and stuff so like... submas pasio train definitely a thing.
mayhaps instead of spawning near trainyards and assuming the role of train bosses, Ingo&Emmet pairs spawn in the wild in various points around each region and take it upon themselves to build and run a train station there

“Relief Jobs Still Helping,” Border Cities Star. January 12, 1931. Page 5.

Subway at Tecumseh, Not Ellis, Proposed In Windsor
---
Most of the unemployment relief jobs started by the city about six weeks ago are still in full swing, and indications are that they will be providing work for another six weeks or two months.
WATER MAINS DONE
The work of installing water mains on several streets has been completed, but close to 1,200 men are still receiving part-time work on sewer construction jobs, the fire, police, and traffic signal system installation, and the Jackson Park development.
The equivalent of full-time work for about 210 is being given on the sewer job south of Tecumseh Boulevard. The employment on this work was increased when the water installations were completed.
The conduit for the signal system, which is being constructed on McDougal street, is providing work for about 200 men, on a part-time basis. Similarly, approximately 120 men are working part time on the grading and tree-planting program at Jackson Park.
Grants from the federal-provincial unemployment relief fund have been obtained for these works.
SUBWAY PROBLEMS
Construction of a subway at Ellis avenue, or Tecumseh Boulevard, as a local improvement and unemployment relief measure, is being seriously considered by city commissioners at the present time.
Though Ellis avenue was at first tentatively approved as the location for the proposed subway, the sentiment now appears to be for one at Tecumseh Boulevard, as the cost to the city would be several hundred thousand dollars less if it is built at that point.
Not only would a Tecumseh Boulevard subway cost less than half the expenditure that would be required at Ellis avenue, where the cost is placed at $650,000, but a contribution toward it would be secured from the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, city officials believed. This company might not have to contribute to the costs of a subway at Ellis avenue.
Grants from the federal-provincial unemployment relief fund, and the grade separation fund, are available for a subway on either thoroughfare.
