Good morning ☀️ How are you? I know that about 8% of my followers are stuck at their homes right now in Italy. People, i pay my respect to you. Don’t know how I would deal with situation if I was on your place. Just remember, it’s temporary, don’t give up. Speaking of other aspects of annouced pandemia, I’m really concerned growing Italian economic crisis. Yes, every country now experience troubles, markets are down. But closing shops, limiting all sorts of outdoor activities will bring much more serious disaster than French strikes last year. I have a feeling that soon I will be sewing the same dress as the one I spot on @tefaf. It won’t be an art object though... currency’s courses I flying up like halogen balloons. ‘Jerusalem-Brexit’ knitted wool 2018. I am wondering why British politicians & media/BBC don’t talk about BREXIT? The elephant in the room & main cause of the UK’s unique isolation and difficulties. BRXIT, Brexit, BREXIT, it’s not a difficult word to pronounce or spell! This work was made in response to the frustrations I was feeling about what Brexit would mean, as Jonathan Jones puts it his Guardian review, “Scotland looks proper and correct, yet Brexit-voting England and Wales are collapsing in a shapeless mess. ‘Sail Painting’ reminded of this installation at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre 2015. The culmination of a year-long residency. 30+ used and hand crafted sails hung at various angels and levels over the 3 storey front of theatre atrium spaces. The viewer walked through it saw it from different levels and walkways, as if walking inside a three-dimensional painting. The installation was made in response to that seasons plays, Othello & The Merchant of Venice. ‘Hidden Histories, Untold Stories’ these interventions in the Ethnology/ World Stories Gallery address the museums collection and the missing stories of objects in the collection, focussing on the Native American artefacts and retelling the story of what happened to Native American people when European settlers arrived on the American continent. The figures relate to the story of the displacement and genocide of Native American people. Their presence triggers links to the displacement of people elsewhere, both historically and contemporarily by colonial and imperial forces. The paper money and map boats reference connections to travel, trade, mapping, migration, and social histories. The bronze ‘Horse’ and ‘ Push-Me-Pull-You’s’ relate to ancient times and cultures that exist in my imagination. ‘Hidden Histories, Untold Stories’ exhibition with Pueblo Pottery Figure, ‘God of Rain’ from North America and model birch bark canoes made by Native Americans placed in front of boat painting. These objects were moved from the Ethnology Gallery, where I places artworks including paper money boats, which are next to Native American money beads and copper currency. ‘Hidden Histories, Untold Stories’ exhibition with ‘Truth &Consequences’ lit globes in shopping trolley, foreground and Benin Bronzes in background and close up. Pedestal, brass, human head used for displaying elephant ivory tusks during religious ceremonies and bronze figure of Oba, Benin, West Africa. From Benin, Southern Nigeria the Benin Bronzes are the subject of much discussion amongst museums internationally concerning their (and other objects) rightful home and future plans for a museum in Benin to house them. The juxtaposition of them with the globes comments upon the relationship between colonial behaviours, climate change, inequality, injustice and the wilful destruction of our planet.
