Do you ever remember that Jonathan was the only person in s4 to ask Nancy if she was OK and just get so sad for her. Like. She is putting so much on herself to be this fearless teen girl soldier but she just had to relive her worst trauma, she's seen her family dead, she's crying and no one is checking on her or worrying about her feelings, so she shuts them down and goes back to battle mode. But then Jonathan is there and he asks her if she's OK and he tells her that he just wants her to be safe and suddenly she can be a human being again and is loved and valued with no selfishness and no expectation.

"Feels like the good old days."

Thena chose to ignore him as he joined her on the roof atop their little home for two. The more he said that the more she felt like snapping at him that there was no such thing as good old days anymore.

But he would not deserve that.

Gilgamesh sat himself next to her, legs over the edge, leaning back on his palms despite the heat the roof absorbed from the relentless sun. He looked up at the sky, showing symptoms of dusk.

"You're not sleeping."

She was, she could argue. She slept briefly when he went out to forage for food, or find a human outpost with trade. She slept when he was not around to fall victim to her. "I am."

"Thena."

"If you are not here to witness it, then-"

"Thena," Gilgamesh persisted, turning to look at her. She maintained her resistance to looking at him. "Hey."

She finally did, taking him in under the soft light of evening. Australia had very brief evenings after very long days. It made the slim sliver of soft light feel elusive and precious.

"You're safe here," Gil whispered - pleaded - as he raised his hand to her cheek. He brushed his thumb over the bone of her cheek. "You know that, right?"

Thena resisted the urge to lean into his touch with everything she could muster.

"I need you to know that."

Gilgamesh had worked tirelessly since they arrived on the continent. From walking them all the way out here, hand in hand, to preparing this plot of land to laying the foundation for their house, he did everything.

Houses weren't built overnight. They had been out here for some time now. How much exactly, she couldn't know. Sometimes days passed in a blur, sometimes she passed out for days at a time.

"Do you know that, Thena?" Gil whispered to her, pulling her hand up to cradle his cheek in the same way. He leaned into it freely, leading her by example. He looked at her with those soft, brown eyes of his. "You know that you're safe with me, right?"

He was so concerned about her feeling safe with him, without so much as a thought to how unsafe he was with her.

Thena lifted her eyes to his. "When you love something, you protect it."

They were the clearest words she had spoken in days.

Gil's face contorted, both melting with affection and pained as he did so. He moved closer to her, letting out a sigh. "Protecting me, huh?"

He always understood what she was saying, no matter how few words she had to spare. She could no longer protect him in the way they once had done for each other. This was her coming to grips with however she could protect him now. And that included - and in many ways was limited to - only resting when he wasn't around to suffer any potential consequences.

Gilgamesh leaned in, pressing his forehead to hers, their breath mingling in the dry air. "You don't have to protect me from you."

"Gilgamesh."

"I don't want that."

"Gil."

"Thena," he pulled back to look at her, the same resolve in his eyes as when he declared to their family that he would go with her, safeguard her, for however long they had, wherever that may lead.

She shook her head at him--stubborn man.

Gil's eyes slipped closed as she kissed him. This still felt the same. He remained the same, no matter how many times her world shattered around her.

He held her cheeks as they parted, just far enough. He smiled faintly, "I'm lucky."

She was the lucky one; she pinched him.

He chuckled, "I mean it. I have the Goddess of War protecting me."

As he always would. If she were to find the day on which she drew her last breath, it would be in his defense.

"But y'know," he continued, in such an elated mood now from such a small thing as a kiss. "I'm sure I can protect myself sometimes. Say, if you need some sleep every once in a while."

Thena rolled her eyes.

Gil pulled them back, swinging his legs up and pulling her with him so they could lie down properly on the roof of their house--their home. He looked up at the stars with her tucked into his side. "You can rest, Thena. I promise nothing will happen."

He couldn't promise that.

"I promise I'll be here."

She tightened her fist around a handful of his shirt. Of all things in the immutable universe, this one thing had held true for her. And she lived in fear of the day when it wouldn't be.

"I'm here," he whispered, pressing his heavier hand over hers on his chest, flattening her lithe fingers out over his heart. "I'm right here."

He was right here with her. His heartbeat matched hers and his form was made for holding hers. Thena pressed her nose to his shirt, her eyes fluttering.

"I'll be right here," he whispered to her, pulling her into sleep with a low, rough whisper.

"Bed."

Gil chuckled again, tightening his arm around her waist, "oh, now you want the bed?--the bed I so painstakingly built and assembled and make every-"

"Gil."

"Bed it is," he promised her, standing with her secure in his arms. This was the first time she had asked to be taken to bed since leaving, and he was ready.

my intention has been settled the entire day as ‘it’s okay to grieve what wasn’t meant for me’

i ended up talking to him outside at work yesterday and we talked about how we both felt, how it went down, it was…a very bittersweet feeling, but I understood where he was coming from and why he made his decision, I gave him my few thoughts in relation and spared him all the feelings I’m reconciling now.

we left things on good terms, because even if it wasn’t love, we still cared for one another deeply, and that still meant something.

does it still hurt? it does, but will I be okay eventually? I will, I do firmly believe it. another mantra I’ve been repeating is ‘I will never miss out on what is meant for me’

also I unfortunately don’t have the heart to sideglare him and it’s also no longer possible because yesterday was my last day 🎉 I’m off to get another job working with kids and I’ll be getting my licensing for it.

I’m very excited because this something I’ve been wanting to do for a long while and just didn’t realize there was a niche to get in to start. will it work out? hell if I know, I thought this would work out and it turned into a total dumpster fire 💀

Zack headcanons ??? Personally I headcanon him as an autistic gay man who is a huge nerd and actually loves little kids, and also he's dating hodgins thank you !! zack !!! my boy !!! this takes place in a world where the whole gormagon arc did Not Happen

zack to Me is gay + aroaceflux + genderfluid (any pronouns) !!! they are in a queerplatonic relationship with hodgins (most people interpret their relationship as dating bc . they are quite physically affectionate in a way that is usually viewed 'romantically', but they are just . partners . in every sense of the word.)

he does really well with kids- he's always a little nervous before he meets them, but he has fun with them. he likes that they don't really care about social cues, and they like that he'll show them big science experiments that aren't dumbed down for them, and talks to them like they're smart . the team likes watching him with the kids- it's always so sweet !!! he was a go-to babysitting choice when christine and michael-vincent were babies .

he has a lot of strange hobbies he picked up because he was bored- he speaks 4+ languages, plays the saxophone and violin, knows how to knit, and can make really pretty beaded jewelry. his bookshelf is organized alphabetically by author, his music is organized alphabetically by title, and his clothes are organized by colour. she paints her nails . she has naturally curly hair, which is noticeable when it gets longer .

they are also the youngest of all 8 siblings, and by a significant amount. the sibling closest in age to him is six years older- he is very much so the baby of the family . the addy's are from the actual Middle Of Nowhere- like . very tiny town, everyone knows everyone. oddly enough, this worked for zack. she liked the routine of knowing exactly what would come next, and there was lots of nature to explore. his family didn't always understand them, but they were always supportive, and he loves going home to see them . the addy household always smells like hot chocolate and a wood fireplace, and zack has candles in those scents to light in their apartment whenever he misses home <3

think. apocalypse ik au. she's been through so much after living through basically the end of the world and she gets sent to the devildom and nothing really phases her. like huh. thats new. and then moves forward. i feel like ik would have gained a gun at some point to protect herself from zombies or whatever so basically ik with a gun and even more trauma au.

ohhh the angst would be HEAVY with this one. lots of hurt/comfort too, i imagine it’d take a while for ik to get used to living normally again - with a bed to sleep in and hot meals to eat, without needing to be on constant alert, without constantly being at risk of being killed - and she’s almost certainly seen a lot of death that she hasn’t had time to recover from emotionally since she’s constantly on the go

ik with a gun... setting aside the jokes, i feel like there’s two ways we could go about that - 1. where she hates it and how easily she can kill with it, especially because she’s probably had to kill someone she knew with it, whether as a zombie or as someone about to turn - but still carries it to protect herself, or 2, where she’s ruthless and willing to use it whenever she deems necessary, which is its own tragedy because no child should have to reach that point

oh hey thank you- i am trying my best right now!! LMAO but no you actually fully interpreted it correctly- not gonna get super far into it in the body of this post (see the tags for more!) but, i feel like with this blog i often lose the emotional connection i have to making wc and end up in really abstract, more artsy pieces, which are a lot less stable considering a lot of people like emotion-based wc. this month has been AMPLE opportunity for me to touch back on the base of that personal wc connection i have, and thus my edits are actually flourishing for once. hopefully this feeling doesn't fade as i move out of The Suffering and into The Recovering

my theory would be (if i were to psychoanalyse sam lol) that sam, in this alternate alternate universe, actually thinks very highly of andrew and sees him as this mythical figure which then translates into oh shit but i have these feelings for him?? very irrational feelings bc look at me and look at him?? what makes me think i deserve someone as amazing as that?? and then that in turn (as an act of self-protection methinks) becomes omg i hate his guts!! he thinks he is so fucking smart!! listening to people intently and empathetically!! always makes sure to reassure people when they look unsure!! that's probably why he is such a great lecturer -- uhhh...i mean that's probably how he managed to charm the whole department and thus get everything he wants!! asshole!!

bnha - stands for 'boku no hero academia', or 'my hero academia' - it's an ongoing manga with an accompanying anime series, set in an alternate future where superpowers exist and following a young group of students at a school for heroes in japan.

obey me! - 'shall we date?: obey me!' is a mobile gacha-based otome game (i.e. it's a dating sim) that is set in a high school for demons in hell, where you romance the seven personifications of sin. (more dateables, like barbatos who i write so much about, have been added since then, but the premise is the same.) you, the mc, get teleported to hell for your exchange year abroad, and do lots of kissing and dance battles to progress the story.

redacted asmr - a youtube channel, which explores an alternate universe identical to our own where magic exists but is hidden from the general population. everything is audio-only, so there's no visual aspect. there's a broad range of characters (laid out at the bottom of this post here!) who (with one or two exceptions) all have their own listeners (i.e. us!) who they romance over time.

all of these are still ongoing - bnha has new manga chapters every week, obey me! keeps adding new chapters fairly frequently, redacted asmr gets two new uploads a week - so there's no shortage of fun stuff! i highly recommend all of them, and i hope this helps :)

tbh idk why a lot of people hate the pregnancy trope sm bc i can't help but love the domesticity and the fluff in it thats why im so happy when i found out u wrote a story w the trope thank uuuu 😭💖

I was genuinely shocked when I found out so many people hate pregnancy in fics- like on one hand I do get it, unexpected pregnancy can really throw a fic off trail- especially if it’s poorly planned on the writers part. But for me it brings a lot of new unexplored dynamics- obviously if it works with the plot!

After finding that out I usually try to give a fore warning if pregnancy is apart of a plot because if can be a big turn off- I learned my lesson during tease LOL while I was planning it I had this running gag that MC would have “signs” of pregnancy during the second arc of the story and in an ironic twist- irs actually just signs of stress and upcoming period.

When I actually wrote the final draft it played a WAY bigger part in the story then it originally was supposed too 💀 and a lot of people did NOT appreciate the joke- lol it was only a joke for me
