I've been thinking about Prince and how for a time he changed his name to a symbol without a pronunciation (he's since changed it back I'm not deadnaming him calling him Prince) and how that is such a power move, especially given he is a celebrity who people are going to want to talk about.

But also I think about how people started referring to him as "the Artist Formerly Known as Prince" to respect this name change while still being able to talk about him. Funny (annoying) how people can respect someone changing their name into something without a pronunciation, but many can't show the same courtesy to a trans person naming themself Susan or whatever.

On a lighter note, Prince's old name is a perfect example of "there are no real rules when it comes to names"

Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016) was a prolific singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, dancer, actor, and filmmaker. A guitar virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist known for his eclectic genre-crossing work, flamboyant and androgynous persona, and his far-reaching falsetto and high-pitched screams, he is regarded as one of the greatest musicians of his generation. His innovative music integrated a wide variety of styles, including funk, R&B, rock, new wave, soul, psychedelia, and pop. He pioneered the Minneapolis sound, a funk-rock subgenre drawing from synth-pop and the new wave. His films will include "Purple Rain," "Under the Cherry Moon," and "Grafitti Bridge." "Purple Rain" will be hailed by some critics as the best rock movie ever made and earn him an Oscar for best original song score and soundtrack album. Because of his desire to have complete artistic control over his music, he will endure several years of a contract dispute with his label, Warner Brothers, which results in him appearing in public with the word SLAVE written on his face. He will change his name to "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince" (TAFKAP or The Artist). He will come out of the Warner Brothers conflict happily.
