Film [Photography] Fulfilment
This would have been a great shot, but I miscalculated the focus...
Film photography is crazy! Every bad shot you’ve taken makes you feel you’ve wasted money. On the other hand, every great shot you’ve captured is so fulfilling. Ten times more fulfilling than getting the same shot using digital cameras... I love film photography!

My Superhumans!
A draft written in Spring of 2021...
Tumblr media
Today marks the 30th wedding anniversary of my parents!
I feel incredibly fortunate to have such wonderful parents, and I will always be thankful for being their eldest child. I originated and grew up in the Philippines under the care of two incredible superhumans! And please let me share something about them! 😊
My father works as a mechanical welder and has a passion for sports and roosters. In my childhood memories, I recall him regularly attending small cockfighting events in our barangay. Despite the controversial nature of this hobby, it was one of his means of supporting our family financially. I acknowledge that it may not be the most animal-friendly pursuit, but it played a role in his efforts to provide for us.
He has been a dedicated provider throughout our lives, taking on various jobs to ensure our well-being. From sewing and construction work to driving a tricycle, engaging in small businesses like selling ice candy and charcoal, and even participating in a 5/6 organized at his workplace, he has done it all. Eventually, he acquired skills in welding, adding another dimension to his repertoire.
His journey reflects his determination to send me to school and put food on our table. Despite coming from a modest background himself, he never had the opportunity to attend college due to financial constraints faced by my grandparents.
My mom is like my personal Wonderwoman! 🦸‍♀️ She has a wealth of skills, particularly in household tasks that are typically associated with men. She can take on roles like carpentry, welding, sculpting, crafting stone stoves, repairing wooden furniture, and even handling electrical work, among other things 👩‍🔧. During our childhood, both my father and mother worked at a sewing company in the Philippines. However, given the traditional Filipino family setup, my dad eventually decided that my mom could stay at home to look after the kids.
Initially, it was feasible because we were a small family, and the demands at home were not overwhelming. However, as my siblings and I grew older, our hardworking parents realized that their efforts alone were insufficient to meet our needs in the Philippines. Faced with a tough decision for our family's well-being, my father decided to explore opportunities to work abroad. In 2004, he began applying to various agencies, armed with his welding certifications. Fortunately, he was selected for a three-year work assignment in Japan. Following the completion of his contract there, he sought employment in the Middle East and has been working in Kuwait for the past 10 years.
My father started on his overseas journey when I was in sixth grade, and I vividly recall the challenges our family faced, particularly my mother, when he left for work abroad. Since then, I have become accustomed to the routine of my father returning home for a brief vacation only a few days each year. It is disheartening to think about the reality that many families in the Philippines must send a parent to work abroad to secure a better future, especially those from humble backgrounds with parents who couldn't afford higher education.
Reflecting on the numerous sacrifices and efforts my parents made to ensure our education, I take immense pride in their growth as parents. As the first in my family to complete formal education, I always harbored a silent aspiration for such an achievement. My journey, however, has been far from seamless, acknowledging that parents, like anyone else, are imperfect beings and challenges are inherent in life.
We faced our share of family problems, including financial hardships that led to a hiatus in my education. Despite this setback, I view that period as a valuable lesson and a source of motivation to persevere and complete my schooling. Failure, to me, holds a special significance. It's not just a conclusive endpoint; rather, it serves as a powerful catalyst for growth.
The concept of failure is expansive, and it doesn't imply a permanent defeat or stagnation. My father consistently emphasized the importance of embracing failures and criticisms as blessings. His advice was to demonstrate resilience, proving that I can achieve my aspirations, overcome setbacks, and not let failures define my identity.
I truly enjoy connecting with my parents, even though our interactions are currently limited to video calls. Each moment shared with them holds a special place in my heart.
To these incredible individuals! I will forever be grateful and proud to be your firstborn, and I want to assure you that as long as I am alive, you can rest easy knowing that I am here for both of you! 😊
I love you Pa, Ma! ❤️

Pico de Pino 🥘💖
⁣A month before Christmas, Lolo on my mother's side died of complications. His death broke my mom's heart. He was very proud of her because she was the only one among her siblings to graduate from college. My Tito and Titas haven't eaten together in years. So my mother invited everyone on a trip. We went to Regina Rica to pray for my late Lolo and Lola, whose recovering from a stroke. After that, we decided to eat at Pico de Pino.

Pico de Pino is our go-to if we are hungry and on a tight budget. Overall, the food is excellent, with no complaints. They offer a variety of meals, the majority of which are Filipino, for breakfast and lunch! I recommend packing rice when dining out to save money. The place has a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding hills and Laguna de Bay. It's not your typical restaurant because they have kubo and cottages. They also host some events on their small terrace.

Yeyi's Pizzeria & Café - Tanay, Rizal (Food Guide)
Yeyi’s Pizzeria & Café – Tanay, Rizal (Food Guide)
ROADTRIP TO YEYI’S PIZZERIA & CAFÉ During our adventure at Balai Tanay, I saw a lot of restaurants along the Marilaque Highway that caught my interest. So when my father wanted a road trip on the All Saints’ Day long weekend, I suggested going to Tanay and trying one of the restaurants there. Out of all the suggested restaurants, we decided to go to Yeyi’s Pizzeria & Café. The restaurant is…
